This is “legal” scam now!?I just changed phone and was trying to open TripAdvisor in my new one and just realize this craziness.... be aware... it doesn’t sound correct or even legal (but I guess that if the ask persuasion and we, the users, granted, then is on us.... one of the options to signing into TripAdvisor is using my google email/account... TripAdvisor request me roc ALLOW them to be able “to see and download all my google accounts emails addresses”!!!!! What is that!!! How is that to use an app about things to do or where to eat in any given area I need to pay that service with my privacy and the Privacy of the people that emails me!!!!!? Be aware! We all are used to the “scroll down and agree” and select box and agree to be able to use most accounts and apps now day... must of the times are about fair use of apps and legal reasons..some other times is about allowing the apps to use our location and maybe cameras and being able to storage photos in our devices.... so we go ahead and click allow or agree just because we are so used to trust as no other way to get around or as part of the process... but what TripAdvisor is doing asking permission to see and download our private info... doesn’t sound right!! At all!!!.Version: 32.0

Hotel manager treatment of guest bookingI made a booking two months in advance and unfortunately a family member of mine has passed and our trip to Italy has been canceled. I understand the hotel has a policy but it’s human nature to understand unfortunate circumstances do occur and human compassion should prevail. I have asked for a refund and I have been treated like old bread in a wooden basket. I feel this has been unfair and I haven’t even had a response back from management. I have called them numerous times and that has cost me as its international and I can’t get any Answers. For a 5 star rated hotel that doesn’t pick up the phone is unacceptable as well. This is more like a 3 star hotel . I’ve called at late hours in Italy and even so the hotel reception should answer but that’s not the case with this hotel. I am appalled . I have a family and I’m a hard working citizen and this has really hurt my family ..Version: 24.8.2

Recent reviewsThis app used to be very good.....but now reviews are not shown in date order and the option to see most recent reviews removed.i do not want to see photos of hotels 5 6 or 10 years ago. Especially in the Caribbean with there sargassum problem since 2011 which was exceptionally bad in 2015 and 2018 as I found out after a holiday to Mexico which was ruined by the 5foot piles of rotting seaweed and brown sea that no one talked about. Also a holiday to costa calletta in fuertventura where the beach was under construction and a holiday to Dominican where the rooms where under construction renovation another holiday to Mexico where the pool was closed due to renovation etc etc I would like to see the photos/reviews in date order also for the truthful reviews regarding problems in the area or hotel not to be removed I assume by the hotels themselves so not to have a detrimental affect.....I do not want to waste my money on a holiday which is not as advertised. Please revert tripadvisor back to how it used to be 5 years ago so I can see a true picture of resorts country’s cities and hotels..Version: 30.2

My stay at the Bromley Court HotelWell I have to say we had a fun time at the hotel but that was because we were meeting friends and had a fun evening eating drinking and catching up. The restaurant only had 2 Gins and a Slow Gin - poor stock in my opinion. The food was good but the service not as attentive as it should have been in an almost empty dining room. We ordered an ice bucket and ice but a glass of ice was delivered to the room?? A cigarette had been left in the top drawer of the chest of drawers below the TV!! The room was clean but fir a superior double i don’t expect my shoulders to be touching the wall and shower when I sit on the loo - avoid room 228 if you are broad - it won’t be a comfortable experience. A piece of wood is hanging of the bottom of the bathroom door where it was poorly cut and fitted and the wardrobe door has dropped and scrapes when opening and closing - a minor adjustment is needed as it’s very annoying!! A pleasant hotel but for me it only gets 3 stars, definitely scope to improve if we ever went back 👍🏻.Version: 44.1

Latest version needs some fine tuning.Just downloaded the latest "upgrade" of this app, and I'm less than impressed. The scrolling of the home screen is pathetic : it's slow and jerky, and very unresponsive. Also, what has happened to the confirmatory greying of the button when clicked upon.? All in all one step forwards and two steps back in my opinion. ***** That review was two years ago. I've now installed the latest version, which has addressed some of my concerns. The scrolling is now better, and the greyed out buttons have returned. My only gripe this time is that the already slow initial load is even slower. This may be because of my not blindingly fast internet connection, but it is quite noticeable I give this one 3 stars. Getting better. One improvement I would like to see in the mobile app is the facility to go to the next page at the top of the list, rather than having to scroll to the bottom to advance to the next page. Or maybe the ability to select the page as in the desktop app. Otherwise it’s good 👍.Version: 36.8

Le Petit Train and Awful Experience!Just now NEW My husband and I thought we would see sights of Marseille and a beautiful cathedral/church. Unfortunately, the train was not on time and we had to wait almost an hour for the set up, along with groups who needed to fill the early trains. Okay, so we waited patiently. The tour up the hill was not very interesting, except for a small part being along the coast. Only one side could take photos, but really nothing outstanding to remember. When we finally arrived at the cathedral, we were all very happy! It was so crowded on the streets and very trashy looking, but the cathedral was beautiful! We enjoyed that part and only that part. When you want to return, you wait with a zillion others without any line formation or someone organizing a way to allow people some sort of way to get onboard. This is where we had a French man verbally accost us. He yelled that we were pushing small children and those in strollers…he kept yelling it loudly. A few American men also started yelling at us, one trying to body slam me until my husband got involved. This incident could have ended so much worse except for the fact that we are very fit even in our 70’s. Please have safety protocols in place!!! Someone could have been hurt badly, as this French man was totally out of control! There is no need for things like this to happen; hire more people and keep people safe!.Version: 52.5

Useless til I buy a new phoneFrustrating that this app doesn’t work for older i phones.Version: 56.5

Not brilliant!I’ve been doing this for a few years now and have tons of badges! I do it to help people on their travels and to reward staff by name for great service. I find that the app/site lets me down so much by not allowing me to post photos, not posting a review when it says it has and crashing! For example, I promised a fantastic review to my last stay only to find the previous one hadn’t gone!!!! I tweaked the last review to match this stay but I was going round in circles to try to post pics but it wouldn’t let me! They just wouldn’t show! I’m really mugged by this as it’s not the first time this has happened. Also, my trips and stays just don’t seem to be logged!!! What’s going on??? I get no rewards as to me all these badges are crazy. How about a voucher for something appropriate to my travels! Yelp is far easier and reviews can be edited. Please get your act together and sort these problems out! I am not techno illiterate and no way can I sort this problem with my vast experience with iPhones, apps and knowledge. Much appreciated. Please get back to me..Version: 23.8

I wrote an honest review and TripAdvisor removed it!My review was an eco friendly tour I did, where everything was served in plastic bags, half a dozen plastic water bottles each, and so on, because it concerned “wider social issues”. If I’m looking for an elephant sanctuary for example, I want to know which ones are nice and which ones are cruel, but it appears the reviews are so filtered by trip advisor, that we would not see these reviews anyway, which totally devalues their rating and review system! Really upset about finding this out after using trip advisor for years, that I’ve been looking at significantly filtered reviews and ratings..Version: 29.8

Don’t bother with personal timeline functionOverall I love this app but don’t bother with personal timeline. I have been keeping a log for nearly a year now but I find that it misses out half the places I go to, even though I have my phone on all the time. Also it doesn’t seem to realise where I live or work because every single day gives me the wrong location even though I edit it to the right location when I check it. Clearly they need to do some serious work in getting this functionality right. The other gripe is that it does not let me review the places sitting on my personal timeline and I have to go searching for them somewhere else. When I do get the reviews though they usually pretty helpful..Version: 27.0

Lost confidenceMy wife and I always check out the reviews for hotels and restaurants and have had great results. The reviews reflect accurately what our experiences have been. We have to weed out some of the negative reviews, some people just have to vent when the world just doesn’t go their way. But now TA is rating with their “Best Value”. My wife and I travel to many of the same cities for work and have learned where to stay and not to stay. Their Best Value is completely false and we must say a completely fake rating for us the consumer. We can’t begin to understand any logic in these ratings. There is no cost association and for sure there is no quality association. We are guessing that TA has sold out to who will pay the most. In the end we have lost confidence in anything they say now and feel we must check other sites to be sure of all our future choices for hotels and restaurants. Such a shame, it was such a good site, you can still switch to consumer ratings....but have they sold out to the highest bidder there, if they are ok making a fake Best Value are they ok with making or modifying reviews to the highest bidder and they become fake..Version: 29.8

Not always authentic reviewsAlthough in the past I have been an avid user of the TripAdvisor App I am now extremely more aware. I had my own personal experience at a resort where I wrote my honest review about a resort my husband and I stayed in. A day after this review was written I was contacted by the resorts Manager via Messenger privately offering me a discount on our next visit at the restaurant on the small resort. After not replying, as I thought this was somewhat unusual given I wasn’t going to return to Thailand to stay at that resort again, he messaged me again offering me more of a discount to REMOVE my review off TripAdvisor!! We chose this resort because it had 5/5 star reviews by most people ....sadly this system has been rorted I suspect by someone who works at the resort. I contacted TripAdvisor to let them know and they told me that there was nothing they could do. So do I put my whole trust in TripAdvisor anymore-NO. My advise to everyone using TripAdvisor is to read all the negative reviews, you will soon find the truth..Version: 28.8.1

Terrible representation of what is actually goodTrip advisor is now way less reflective of restaurants in town than it used to be. 18 months or so ago the algorithm changed and now a restaurant can be top of the rankings all because it has fewer 1 star reviews. There seems to be no accounting for volume of reviews and this is a pity since busier restaurants will get more less favourable reviews through sheer numbers if people coming in. It also is more susceptible to fake reviews since a competing business only had to publish a 1 star review and it can impact the competing business far more than it did previously due to the Wright given for such reviews. Google is far more reflective than trip advisor due to users leaving their identity open for all to see ( no phantom keyboard warriors here!) and in my view is a much better platform for searching for what suits you’re taste..Version: 35.6

1 Stars for intrusive practiceHonestly it hard to rate something that is not optional. I wanted to stay on their website but the website keeps spamming you with to continue please download the app or create a account. It’s not a recommendation it’s forced down your mouth. With that being said apon downloading the app, if you think you do not get to create a account now that have downloaded the app think again! More deceptive practices. You still have to give a email creat user an experience that takes 4 minutes out of your time an ultimately should be optional. I don’t want more companies with my email filling up my promotional tab. Over all a 1 star and experience from the start. Trip advisor sets the mood right away with deceptive business practices. They do not stand out outside of other websites for providing additional or unique options or the hidden gems you get to know via word of mouth. Generally I never give a 1 star review however in this situation I believe it is warranted and just until they give you a skip option in the app for account creation, or change the deceptive wording on their website that collectively is false marketing..Version: 39.6

Sign in sucksI’m giving you 1 star because it is unacceptable for such a large company to have inconsistent sign in methods. You made Apple sign in on iPhone and decided not to include it on the web. Wow..Version: 56.0

Jetstar Adelaide to Bali returnThere’s nothing to recommend the Jetstar service on this route. I was on 21 D on the way back. It was on time. Maybe that’s it. So- the seat- I didn’t realise that a clean environment and a seat with some padding was extra. Like food is extra. The last customer’s tissue was stuck on the dirty tray. The staff were mainly rude. They were brusque. They couldn’t have cared less to be honest. Every time the woman behind me moved I could feel her knees as there was NO padding on my back at all. None. I didn’t have a place to put my book as there was no pocket to place it in. On arrival in Bali there was no air bridge. We had to negotiate the stairs and no one gave a toss about our safety. I have two painful shoulders and was unable to hang onto the strap overhead. Impossible. No seat. I’m now in the over 60 age group. No one was happy. We were squashed in like sardines. It wasn’t safe. Then on the way home I refused to get in the bus out to the plane til my friend who had a hip replacement and myself, with bad shoulders, had a seat. So once again this is the only direct flight we can take . A poor woman and husband crossed the tarmac, negotiated the bus and managed to go up the steps, again with no help, carrying a sleeping baby, a sleeping toddler. Their 2 other beautiful boys carried the luggage, the passports and papers. I’m furious. Time for Jetstar to lift their game. This is completely unacceptable..Version: 27.4

About time it was restructured! The whole star and badge rating has become meaningless. Everyone is a 6 star. Restructure it to 100 stars so it Means something to those who support you all the time! You send out a list to members of about 15 reasons why you have just written a review. The most obvious is not on the list, that is, I write reviews all the time. Get rid of the clown who wrote the list and left this off it. John Oliver.Version: 34.4

Love the app, but the Offline features!I have used TripAdvisor to supplement my own curiosity when going to new places, and I’ve always found it helpful. I’ve left a number of reviews, yet I’m also mindful that the reviews are just a guide, and most should be taken with a pinch of salt, particularly the bad ones, and many of the good ones. It really needs a 10 Point scale, to allow you to bypass some of the people just wanting to complain!! The biggest issue with the app is it’s offline capability. You so often don’t have mobile data when travelling. The offline features are almost useless. You can’t find anything nearby, you can’t sort by rating, you can barely find anything useful in the data set, that is when it actually downloads, which it often doesn’t. The app would be significantly better if the offline capabilities were improved. People have plenty of space on their devices these days, and plenty of bandwidth to download the info, please just make it work better than it does!!.Version: 23.6

I found many people to be rude for no reasonI suggest looking elsewhere and honestly reddit is much more helpful. I posted a couple things, but they were simple questions about atms. People then told me I should research and soon I would be asking about shootings where I am staying? I don’t get how I can be so stupid for simply asking about the atms and which ones to use because people’s cards were being read and used in Indonesia. I then went on to read multiple reviews and I was really taken back by how many unnecessarily rude people are on there. Some people on there do ask naive questions, but the point of the app is to help people. Anytime I told someone they were being rude my comment was deleted by the staff. I’m not sure why because I never cursed I just told the people they were being unnecessarily rude and pretentious. But maybe pretentious was taken as not following their guidelines? Because technically I called them a name? Not sure. Anyways besides people being not very helpful I also found reviews to be lacking. There are so many spots I went to in Puerto Escondido that were amazing and not mentioned. So I would suggest speaking to locals wherever you go. Trip advisor may be helpful to some, but honestly I think reddit is much better. I thought Yelp was bad, but this app and it’s staff are in no way helpful..Version: 30.4.1

BE AWARE OF MADAYAW RESTAURANTWE HAD LUNCH BUFFET AT MADAYAW RESTAURANT FOR 10 people and they should have let us know that the DRINKS ARE NOT INCLUDED SO NOW MY FAMILY ORDERED LOTS OF SOFT DRINKS AND FRUIT JUICES NOT AWARE THAT ITS NOT INCLUDED. I don't mind paying but the restaurant should know...Version: 57.1

Love the app, however...I have used the Trip Advisor app for years and found it to be very helpful. However, in this era of stored data abuses, I find it annoying that I can not erase my recent search history. Some will argue why this is an issue so I will share an issue that a co-worker had with the Trip Advisor app. My co-worker was planning on surprising his wife with a romantic mid-week trip at an oceanfront resort 40 miles from his home. He used Trip Advisor to find the best accommodations available. He has the Trip Advisor app on both his iPhone and iPad. After determining that this type of trip wasn’t in his budget, he decided to wait and save a little bit of money each week. Well, sometime later, his wife was using the iPad and Trip Advisor to research a restaurant in the area for a family dinner. While she was in the app, she noticed his history. She was also noticing that he was taking money from their savings account (money he was saving for their romantic weekend.) Anyhow, my co-workers wife’s man hating sister had her convinced that he was having an affair. No need to keep going on this story as I am sure you all get it. Once Trip Advisor allows search history to be deleted, I will amend my 2 star rating..Version: 25.6

What a Letdown for a pre Christmas mealI rang and booked a table for 3 on Monday evening, having next to no choice locally on Mondays. We were sat in the bar right next to the entrance/exit , after a while we asked if another table was available and were seated other side of bar. The food was poor quality and overpriced for a local pub! My friend had to ask for a steak knife which should have been supplied with our cutlery! Scampi was served with cold peas! My fish was poor quality and tasteless and chips underneath were just bits ! We tried to get the attention of a waiter who was chatting to his friends on another table to rectify our issues and he was very rude and unhelpful! Which was both embarrassing and upsetting as my friends were visiting! We spoke to the head waiter when asking for the bill and he apologised but the evening was spoiled, as the bar area had now filled with people on a poker night!! This hadn’t been mentioned when I booked! At my request we were given a 10%discount off the bill! This was still more expensive than the meal we had the following evening in a lovely restaurant in centre of York. A very disappointing experience for visiting friends…. Take note Black Horse!! You are not a high end restaurant but a local pub with quiz nights/ music etc and you don’t expect overpriced poor service and food!.Version: 55.5

Has the potential to be amazingWe recently stayed at this accommodation as part of our tour. Like the reviews state the road to the hotel is very rough & you feel like you are going no where. The location & setting of the hotel is stunning. They have to transport you down a very steep drive to reception. We stayed in a chalet room on the top floor - on entry it was very nice despite a king bed when we had requested twin beds. The room on close inspection was in need of maintenance and upkeep. The bathroom was not clean at all & quite mouldy with a strong smell of septic tank. The view from the balcony was amazing both at night and at first light. With upkeep & cleanliness this hotel could be magical..Version: 49.7

Somethings I struggle in appThe app is made really well but there are things which I struggle with. It does not give provision of editing reviews. Also sometimes the owner of restaurant replies inaccurately yo hide their faults, I have nowhere to reply or tell other people that this answer is not genuine. I cannot copy text from my own review and doesn’t show me any place of how many reviews to add to go to next level! Also you could add a feature of displaying places on map that one has reviewed to see an overall perspective and also it will help in finding my places easily. Sometimes I donot recall the name of the place I had gone to and its so difficult to find it in reviews, so it might be a good feature of app to find which places you have been and maybe sort according to month as well..Version: 30.2

Fraud advertisements and worst serviceDon't trust them with your credit card details and their advertisements are fake. I restaurant closed in Feb 2023 and they charged me 1000$ for my restaurant advertisement in Jan 2024. I removed my other 2 businesses as well and asked my friends to remove their listings as well. It not worth working with them..Version: 56.6.1

It Could Be BetterI plan every trip I go on with this app, but today I noticed that TripAdvisor does not have a certain location called Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. It has the same location in Florida but not in Anaheim. I filled in the address for the missing place form but it said that my address’s was not valid. I think you should probably fix it for better use. Thank You for reading this..Version: 56.7

Jill & Mark BurkeWe recently stayed at Costa Teguise Barceló Hotel in Lanzarote. We were disappointed with the cleanliness & equipment not working. We booked with Jet2holidays for a change. Never again though. We had to complain about the room not being cleaned daily. They did make the bed & change the towels daily. The room had not been cleaned thoroughly, before our arrival. We noticed a piece of broken glass on the floor & the toilet door, which is mirrored had fingerprints on. The remote control for the tv was supposed to be in plastic wallet. It wasn’t. Not ideal, considering Covid is still with us. We had to complain to Customer Service, because the jacuzzi bath had not been cleaned after we used it. Coffee/tea stains on the floor outside rooms. Got cleaned after we complained. We have stayed in a Barceló hotel twice in Fuerterventura, & have been totally satisfied with the cleanliness & friendly service. We will not be going back to the Barceló hotel in Lanzarote, nor will we be flying with Jet2holidays again. The compensation they offered us was an insult..Version: 46.1

Help to others.I like this app as it is a great tool to help others. My reviews are based on my own experience and are honest and real. I do not wish to slam anyone but when you are paying good money for something you should get what you are paying for. Also I’d like to think I could be helping someone from another country decide on an experience they may be thinking of doing. Good work trip advisor..Version: 25.8

RUI Sante FeThis was my fourth trip to this resort and I couldn’t be more disappointed in how it was this time. I will start with the “designated smoking areas” NOT…. People were smoking everywhere even in the restaurants. Secondly the drugs being sold in plain view of the people was disgusting. I didn’t feel safe going down to the beach. I saw people right in front of me buying drugs all day long. The vendors dug up the bags of cocaine and other drugs daily before the crowds came. The beach was dangerous and the life guards didn’t enforce at all. The foam night parties were an orgy! I didn’t feel comfortable at all as a mature women being there. The entertainment in the lobby was terrible. The food wasn’t bad but certainly not excellent by any means. The staff in the restaurants weren’t pleasant at all. The drinks were watered down to the point of being laughable. I will never return or recommend this resort. What a waste of money!!! I’m sure it will continue to be popular but I hope you take these comments into your decision. There’s more but…..Version: 55.1

Great platform but less than intuitive app interfaceI've been using TA for years, love it and I use it to plan every trip. The interface on the app to use the forum is the worst user experience for going in and out of threads though. My natural inclination is to press the "done" option at the top because I am done reading that thread. The "back" option at the bottom is not obvious at all but it's the only option that closes the thread without going all the way back to the home page. If you consistently press "done" you have to search for your location, go back into the forums, go back to the page of threads you were on etc. Despite being a practiced and tech-literate user this happens to me over and over again every time I use the app. I know it's user error but I don't have this issue on ANY other forum interface. It needs improvement..Version: 36.8

DC Bus tourThe tour was in a nice modern bus that started at 8:30 until 4:30 and hit most of the top sights in DC. Excluding Washington Monument, Spy Museum, Arlington Cemetery. Our only complaint was the guide who walked 100 yds ahead of everyone in the group as we went from site to site (Korean War, FDR, etc.) and seldom took the time to explain anything that we passed in the Bus other than the mandatory sites and they were covered in speed speech as the bus ambled by!. Lunchtime at the Pentagon mall across the Patomoac was a waste of 90 minutes..when we could have had lunch in DC proper or they could have given us an option for box lunches. Drop off at the Library of Congress was a ho hum except for the viewing of the Dec of Independence docs which were fascinating. overall our guide could have made the trip more interesting and personal (versus staring at her cell phone while we walked or sat there while we experienced the sites.) The tour as on Monday Oct 30th. Trip Advisor uses third party suppliers and my guess is that they have little input as to the credentials of the guides. PS: Totally opposite experience was the tour of the Capital. Our guide was sensational!!.Version: 54.8

Tui blue corfuMy husband and myself are absolutely disgusted with the hotel. It’s in need of a good cleaning and also the amount of cats that we have to endure every day pestering you whilst you’re eating especially when they are above you in the restaurant. We dread to think of the amount of cat hairs that they shed. We do not agree with having animals around and touching you whilst having a meal. The food is repetitive and not really enjoyable. You never mentioned in your brochure that you didn’t accommodate for the disabled. The walk down to the pool is unbearable and also the pool is dangerous for anyone who wants to sit on the side. Would also like to say that the entertainment is non existent. There is no music and the atmosphere is unbearable. I have worked in nursing homes for many years and this is what it feels like. Some of the staff are not bad but could be better. My husband and I have traveled to many countries and I would never ever return here. I was also sick of the wasps. NEVER EVER AGAIN WOULD WE RETURN HERE.Version: 53.8

The ratings they give to those who review is a scam!I have submitted nearly 100 reviews over the years which I have enjoyed doing but what bothers me is the “rewards” and badges given to those who review and the badgering they do to lure you into making more reviews to be “the top reviewer in your area”. Or, “you are 2 reviews away from receiving Photographer status”, etc!!!!! I write reviews in order to share my excitement or dissatisfaction with a place of service. The place has to be pretty bad for me to complain- the businesses we review can make or break someone’s business.... that’s a serious responsibility. I take re Jewish g seriously. My reason for 2 stars for Trip Advisor is the giving of rewards for which nothing is actually given. It’s enough reward for me to be able to help a fellow traveler but be straight with your reviewers. If you award “trophies” at least back them up with a small discount on a hotel, or a meal, etc! I am a member of many rewards clubs for gasoline, restaurants, or shopping venues. These are great perks and command my loyalty. Wouldn’t that be nice if Trip Advisor extended this appreciation to its reviewers? Just saying........😁.Version: 28.4.1

Historic Scotland Explorer PassWe were gently pressured to buy the 5 day Historic Scotland Explorer Pass on our visit to Stirling Castle. The ticket concession seller described how we would be saving money and “avoiding the long lines” to buy tickets to enter Edinburgh Castle or any of the 77 Historic Scotland places. We spent 3+ hours enjoying Stirling Castle and had a decent lunch there. 2 days later we went to Edinburgh and entered the Edinburgh Castle. It was cold, windy and very uncomfortable after 1 hour doing the guided tour and the castle guide suggested a pub for lunch instead of eating at the castle cafeteria. We went to the one he suggested, warmed up and returned to see the rest of the castle. When we attempted to re-enter the castle, we were told that our “pass” entitled us to ONE visit to any of the sites. We explained the NO ONE had described this limit on the pass. She then went to page 3 of the pass and showed us the fine print. We were then told even though NO ONE had warned of this limitation on the pass, that if we wanted to go into the castle after our lunch break, we “could buy another ticket”. We decided not to be ugly Americans and left after letting them know we thought it was quite unfair..Version: 31.8

Poor serviceThe first guide spoke so fast that most couldn’t understand him. The second stop our headphones didn’t work and wasn’t allowed to stand up to get attention. The third driver told us to get down to the Fort Baker from the bridge we would have to walk down alongside the roAd- which we did and it was so dangerous! Luckily at the bottom we got chatting to a cyclist who explained the proper route back. The last girl despite having toothache was good. All in all you guys need to work on your presentation and customer service..Version: 31.6

Tripadvisor is a fraudI write this as a hotelier and restaurateur. I find it incredible that anyone can write anything about any small business and risk people’s livelihood without it being verified that they have at least visited there. Any booking reference, FB or Google check-in could support this. Furthermore people can write utter lies but as a venue we need to provide 100% proof of the lie to have it removed. Even then it’s a battle and it will oftentimes still remain for all to read. My advice to people is that if you have a really genuine complaint and you politely try to raise it then it should be dealt with. If they fail to address it then vent your frustrations. But do remember there are hundreds of moving parts that go into running a business. TA only allows you to give a score out of 5. So if 1 thing goes slightly wrong, don’t leave a 1 Star. Have some compassion for the hard working low paid staff from the industry who do long hours so you can enjoy yourselves. The whole this is like a modern version of a public flogging..Version: 31.8

Don’t hire from EuropcarHeard many stories but never took any notice until it happened to us. Hired a car through Europcar Brisbane for 1 week. Only used a third of a tank of fuel, that’s how little we used it. Basically from the airport to our accomodation and back. We returned the car at around 9 am Wednesday but it wasn’t until 3 days later on a Saturday morning they informed us there was not one, not two, not even 5 but ELEVEN stone chips in the windscreen. Of course by this time we were home and couldn’t view the so called damage, you can’t see anything in the photos. I think we would know if we got one stone chip. But Eleven? Of course their dispute resolution did nothing and the windscreen was fixed before we could get anyone to go and have a look. Our word against them but as they have your credit card details they took $1379 out of our account. This included not only the windscreen but $100 admin fee and a $90 salvage fee. “Rogues” They have lost our business, my work hires and everyone we know will be warned. BE WARNED.Version: 32.8

Could be BetterSeveral flaws that should be fixed for smartphones and some for pcs. Major flaw is adding quick bites to eating establishments. There are no rules on this and restaurants are changed to quick-bites because of someone’s answer etc. By doing this, they are no longer listed as restaurants. Major problem is if you are looking for a great place to eat, TA searches restaurants by default!!! Guess what? The favorite eating place you are looking for doesn’t show up because it is quick-bites. The only way around this is going through several filtering screens and click restaurants and quik-bites when doing a search. I didn’t find this for 6 months and always missed great restaurants. These restaurants missed had order at the counter, bring out your food and refill drinks sometimes but were called qb. I even ran across places that took your order at the table but were labeled qb. TA please fix this and have an easy to find suggestions area to alert you to these problems and many more with feedback given to reporters..Version: 32.2

Ok but I’m sick of the supplementary questionsI review on TripAdvisor partly to counter the sometimes large number of silly reviews (of course, mine aren’t silly ;-)). It can also be useful to see reviews of places, hotels and restaurants that I’m thinking of visiting, particularly hotels where there can be useful information about rooms, noise, etc that is not available on hotel websites or published reviews. It’s also useful as a kind of diary of my travels. However, in writing a review, I am getting thoroughly sick of the supplementary questions required before a review can be submitted. No I don’t know whether a visually impaired person will be able to find their way around the restaurant, or whether service dogs are allowed, or whether vegan food is offered, or the plethora of other questions. I suggest if you do have those questions, which may be of great importance, then ask the restaurant, hotel or place of interest, rather than rely on TripAdvisor..Version: 31.6

Needs to stay up to dateLots of the restaurants it says are open don’t exist anymore. Probably best not to trust the app for up-to-dateness..Version: 39.6

How to avoid giving directionTripAdvisor on iPhone is so bad that it should be taken off AppStore. They managed to make experience of getting directions almost impossible to use, hiding the button on the map screen in the part of the screen is most likely to be covered anyway. Even when you manage to access it, it will open a useless popup asking if you really want directions for that address. Once you click it, instead of opening the standard get directions screen which allows you to pick map app to use, it will open a full screen map which looks like Apple Map but it is not the real one as this one does not perform any navigation at all. You will see only the overview and the map will not change. It got me crazy, believing the Maps navigation went nuts, and I am sure someone had already made a car accident due to this confusions. I hope someone will succeed suing them on that. The way it was made is not really an accident as they had to take a lot of extra efforts in order to make this, and we can easily guess why: they don’t get any money if you go to a place without them..Version: 25.6

Excellent source of infoI always consult TripAdvisor before going somewhere to get a general idea of what to do, where is a good place to stay, and so on. It’s a veritable treasure trove of information. The app has a lot of great features which makes life easy, e.g. map information, links to websites, etc. I find it a little non-intuitive sometimes. For example people use it to do two things; read about a place or write a review. It should be easier to write a review without having to scroll through all the other information to find a small link..Version: 26.2

Unbelievably DisappointedPaid A LOT of money for my extended family of 7 to enjoy Ruth’s country dinner. When we arrived there was NOWHERE for us to sit. There were 2 seats we were able to find (@ different tables) and nothing else. The man who was to be singing/performing offered to disassemble a display table (card table) and gather some random chairs to accommodate some of my family which was super nice, but I felt like there should have been enough proper seating options for us. The girl setting things up was also so apologetic and tried to help best she could while my teenagers stood holding their plates and ate standing up. I went strait to the front desk where I was told I might find Julie (who I was told was in charge of these dinner reservations). The girls there gave me Julie’s business card with a cell phone and other contact info. I texted her and got an auto response letting me know that they had received my message and would be in touch. That was 3 days ago and still no contact from Julie or anybody for that matter… when I arrived back at the venue, someone had set up a table for my family in the blistering sun (to leave space for entertainment in the little left shade) with enough chairs and a proper table cover. I went to serve myself and there was maybe about a four of a cup of corn left and NO dessert left except watermelon. Just over all a huge disappointment and for the money I paid, just completely unacceptable..Version: 48.2

Brilliant concept - atrociously constuctedFrequently Impossible to login particularly if using a different phone/computer or area. Perhaps the least user friendly popular app on the entire internet. I’m used to it now but frequently get baffled by updates or “improvements”. Just tried to do a review on my mobile and the text disappeared and only allowed me 2 sentences before vanishing. Biggest issue is the fact that TripAdvisor administrators are not capable of noticing that many establishments and their staff are writing their own reviews and giving themselves high scores and excellent reviews. Not representing the public or their clients at all. The map section is ridiculous - always out by many meters and never prompts the correct direction. Only way to know if your travelling in the right direction is to walk 50 meters and see where you end up on the map - usually the opposite to the intended direction. Sadly there is no alternative to TripAdvisor that I am aware of. If one came out I’d happily bin TripAdvisor. Google - please hurry up - your heading in the right direction..Version: 39.6

Version: 55.5

Stay away from this resortFirst, the amenities listed in the broacher are false. Swim up bar pool empty and under repair, as well as the hot tubs are out of service. The beach is nice, but there is no maintenance done by staff leaving parts of it non-useable. There is no mix for your drinks unless you like club soda with everything. There is no towel service to speak of.Version: 55.5

Unsatisfied dinerWe went to have some lunch on Friday 20th just before we did our shopping in coles Coburg and we were not satisfied with the service of the restaurant the chef was in his own and of course couldn’t do much faster to serve us quicker and was not too fast to serve us and we also were not satisfied with the meals the porterhouse steak was too tough and the lamb souvlaki was too dried out the meat didn’t seem to be cooked fresh it was over cooked and dry /tasteless and very. Bland and after waiting that long for a meal were expected to have better quality food and be satisfied with the amount of money charged / I think that place needs a lot of improvement if they want more customers to be going to dine there and food was not the best quality the porterhouse steak was tough and old not highly recommended and the lamb souvlaki was dry and over cooked would not recommend this place.Version: 54.7

Happy CamperI was disgusted with Jetline Vacations to Iceland. I landed there at 4:30 in the morning. No one was there from the bus company to greet me as I was told and I was never informed the name of the company. After searching for over an hour I was told to check out this desk where no one was there. Then when someone finally showed up I was told where to get the bus. When it dropped me off 6 blocks away from the hotel at a bus stop, I was told another smaller bus would come by to pick my husband and I up. Never happened. We had to drag a broken suitcase by the airlines uphill on cobblestone roads for 6 blocks. I was nickel and dimed for everything. American Airlines messed up big time causing me to miss my flight with Play airlines to Iceland. I was charged $250 per person to get onto the next flight the next day and was charged what turns out to be an extra thousand for the vacation. The Northern lights tour was horrendous. The guide told us nothing and did a very poor job. Unfortunately, I did not see the lights while other guests said who they used for the tour kept changing locations to guarantee seeing the lights. Those guests on the same night did. Nothing picked us up at the hotel. Was lied to saying the bus terminal was within walking distance. I can go on an on with the numerous disappoints but it all boils down to one thing. Never never never use Jetline Vacations..Version: 55.5

Green Island Chinese havenSadly this lovely Island is over run by pushing shoving shouting Chinese people all day long they are the day trippers. As a guest you can only enjoy the Island when the hoards of Chinese leave at 4.30. The Island is lovely and quiet then and you can enjoy it as it should be enjoyed. There is no area on the beach exclusively for guests and the noise is awful. The beach chairs are very uncomfortable and loud shouting day trippers are everywhere. The guest pool area is the only place to escape the hoards of day trippers. Do not stay more than two nights as the long day of day trippers is difficult to get through. The rooms are lovely and the restaurant is fantastic for FNQ. It is great to come to but More care for paying overnight guests should be given. Loud shouting children in guest areas should be reminded that they are not the only ones staying at the Island. This is a better resort staff wise they took great care in making our stay special and it is of international Standard. The rooms are excellent and clean with no mould. Beds are ok but pillows could be better. Resturant staff were kind and considerate but obviously a bit sick of their jobs. Sadly the money comes from the masses of overseas tourists so if you want a peaceful holiday this is not the place..Version: 26.0

Lists seem disorganisedIt’s hard to make sense of the ratings. If I look at what is supposedly the top attractions their review quality & quantity isn’t nearly as good as many of the commercial attractions. I have to enter top ranked to see the best ranked which is weird. What does traveller favourites mean? I can’t see any options to show me a list from #1 down. Some products show one rating before you select them then go onto another scale altogether when you click on them. It seems disorganised and inaccurate to me..Version: 33.4

WHY keep changing things????I knew it was a mistake to click on “update” without waiting a few days to read the reviews - which I was sure would be terrible - because they just keep on changing things and making it worse for NO REASON!! I can’t understand why they think ANY of the recent changes are improvements - they moved things around AGAIN so it’s unfamiliar! Nothing on the home page is relevant. Can’t even FIND MY OWN reviews now! Why is everything so HUGE? They’re wasting space & making me scroll way too much… This is the FIFTH time I’ve updated this review in 30 minutes - every time I try to do something I keep finding more horrendous changes. Are they honestly going to make me click on “read more” for EVERY single review? OMG!!! Now instead of just having 2 search lines so I can type in the name of what I want to see and the location directly below it, it I have to click on something else to get the location box to show up so I can type it - an UNNECESSARY EXTRA step! Then, there are multiple restaurants with the same name in this city, and you don’t show me the address anymore, they all just say the city, so I have NO IDEA which one is correct!! They have absolutely destroyed what used to be a helpful trip planning app & it’s just awful now. I’ve never used yelp but it’s time to consider it... Did the people who created this ridiculous redesign ever try to actually use the app before they released this crap to the general public?.Version: 42.1

Good App, but requires seriously reviewing and updating.I use Trip Advisor all the time, which is why I have become an avid TA reviewer. There's nothing more annoying than spending good money on a trip, hotel, restaurant or destination and being disappointed because it doesn't live up to your expectations. TA allows you the opportunity to check out a place before you even book. It has saved me a lot of disappointment in the past and I'm sure it will again. As a result I now make sure that if a place ISN'T up to scratch, other prospective patrons will be able to read about it and my experiences. In the same vein, if the place is good I make sure it receives, not only my recommendation but the reasons why I recommended it. However, the App needs serious reviewing now and updating. The main bugbear for me is that the review offers nothing between AVERAGE and VERY GOOD. Often places I visit are better than average, but still fall short of being very good. Come on TA, let's get the review button issue sorted so that travellers reviews can truly reflect their experiences. 👍🏼.Version: 49.8

Used to be great, now almost uselessTrip Advisor used to be awesome for exploring for things to do in an area we were visiting as a family. I found so many great attractions, outdoor sightseeing locations, tours, etc over our years of travel. Searching in the map view and browsing lists was easy and productive on an iPad, actually much better than their website. I was shocked to find that the interface has now been redesigned in a way that makes the app terrible for finding what I need. I’m literally at a loss as to how I’m going to search for things to do on our upcoming vacation because I’m having so much trouble finding the information I want. Note to developers, using blocks to display info is horrible UX design when trying to browse long lists. It seems that the app has been redesigned not with the user in mind, but for some other goal, maybe highlighting those things that will bring in more $$ for Trip Advisor. Weirdly, the App Store ratings are also worthless for this app because almost none of the recent good ratings are about the app. Instead it is a bunch of ratings of businesses people presumably found via Trip Advisor. The ratings of the app itself appear to be substantially lower. Is Trip Advisor doing something to encourage this user behavior in order to obscure their poor ratings? Very sad if true..Version: 44.6

Double Six - Seminyak, BaliThis was our second stay and it has gone down hill since last year. Whilst the food and beverage staff were friendly and kind, the people in job levels higher were not, seeming more arrogant than is necessary. On arrival we were given a number of vouchers, mostly for use within the hotel. One was external and we were told that it could be exchanged for use within, which suited us better. When we enquired about this, the man on front desk was rude and somewhat mocking - he humiliated us. We were told the following day it was ‘miscommunication’. Handled very badly. Also the venue needs external maintenance work in their buildings, TV reception is terrible and air conditioning very noisy. Breakfast is good as is the Plantation Grill restaurant. Overall though very disappointed with our second stay..Version: 31.6

Horrible Customer ServiceApparently in using Trip Advisor they don't stand behind the reservations you have made through their app. I made a reservation and paid through the Trip Advisor app that I have used many times. Upon the hotel arrival of my out of town workers the reservation wouldn't go through. Apparently, Trip Advisor uses another company called Cancelon to process all of their payments. There was not a soul to be found at this Cancelon company to assist with anything. Their phone lines rang and a recording came on saying 'number not found'. The lady, who I could barely understand, from Trip Advisor could only say that they don't process the payments, Cancelon does. I WAS NOT using Cancelon to make reservations...I was using Trip Advisor! My confirmation email came from you, TRIP ADVISOR, Not anyone else!! If you use someone else that's between you and them! I am OR was a Trip Advisor customer, not a Cancelon customer. I'm sure this has to be happening to other people. Trip Advisor, you need to put something on your app to let customers know reservations apparently can't be made through you at this time. I get it, there is a whole lot going on in the world right now, but please take the time and LET PEOPLE KNOW!.Version: 35.8.1

Default searches focus on cost of accommodation rather than reviews, which is what the app is aboutI have used Trip Advisor for several years and have contributed back many reviews. Recently I have become frustrated that the default search focuses on “best value”. It is increasingly complicated to find the options for accommodation or restaurants etc based on the highest rating, by the time you sift through the sponsored adverts and convert the search to ratings based. I much preferred the old system where the listings came up in a numeric order based on ratings. Also one often has to scan a long way down the listings to find the best restaurant etc because of the weighting given to other factors than the score in reviews. As I understand it the total number of reviews influences the position in the ratings. So a restaurant with only 40 reviews all of which are 5 star can appear way below a restaurant with 400 reviews which are only an average of 4-4 1/2 stars. I have started using Google reviews as an alternative for restaurants..Version: 35.0

Used to be great, now it’s untrustworthyI have just turned up to check in to the hotel I booked through Tripadvisor and been told that they have no room available. It’s 1 am, I’m alone in a strange city and nowhere to sleep for the night. It turns out Tripadvisor have aligned themselves with Agoda, though this is not made clear at the point of booking; I thought I was dealing with Tripadvisor until I received my booking confirmation email, which mentions Agoda. Apparently, it is Agoda’s customary practice to sell hotel rooms, taking full payment up front, without any contact with the hotel, leaving it to the hotel to create a booking when people to turn up. That booking is then paid for with the ‘voucher’ you have in actual fact purchased from Agoda. Tonight; I was the third person to be turned away on an Agoda booking at this hotel and it is almost a daily occurrence. This is dishonest business practice and misappropriation of people’s money under false pretences and mis-selling and should surely be looked at by Trading Standards. Tripadvisor is for me ruined, I can no longer trust the service..Version: 25.8

The lobby was a big disappointment. Not used to staying at hotels that are so simple. There is no luxury here. Besides, the hotel they advertised is not the hotel at all. The hotel with the beautiful pools is the one they show in the pictures. Seaside suites palms are dated and just okay. So if you are looking for luxury this is definitely not it. We were up graded by our travel agency. Thank God for that. Would I had stayed at the regular suites that are far back away from the pools and the beach. I believe a 3 start would have been too much. Lobby was like something you see at a M courtyard, If you know what I mean!? But hot. First day here, I know we will not come back. You have to walk everywhere because the little golf cars only pick you up at the lobby. Oh and by the way seaweed is horrible you can’t swim in the beach and the smell is horrible as soon as you get outside of your room it smells pretty bad. Maybe that is Mother Nature and no fault of the hotel. I don’t know if they can’t do anything about that..Version: 43.1
