Fizz Weather for Negative User Reviews

Clean interface, nice images, lots of detailsNice interface; clean with lots of details. Animated radar and cloud cover are nice but lack detail & the ability to zoom unlike MyWeather. City names often obscure the animations (e.g. you can't see most of the Puget Sound because the map is small and "Seattle" is typed over it in a large font). Like the airport delay info and the fact that you can select the reporting stations for each city -- nice touch. Also, you can add lesser known international cities unlike other programs. Add Moon phases and make the maps 'zoomable' and I'll change my vote to 5 stars!.Version: 0

Nice UI, not very functionalToo many worthless charts, unusable map, no hourly forecast. If you want to do something with landscape mode, use it for a map you can zoom in on! Also push notifications for severe weather alerts would be nice. Fizz always makes nice looking software, but if they would just read some of these reviews and make the changes users are suggesting, they would have a brilliant product. Oh well..Version: 0

Ok appAt first I really liked this app over WeatherBug and the native weather app on iPhone (not there's anything wrong with the native app). But the more I used it the more I began to dislike it. The radar isn't very good, the wind speed is always wrong, and the temperature is always one degree lower than actual. As far as the wind speed, there could be no wind and this app says wind speed is around 18 mph. Even when the wind speed outside is 10, it could be around 20-30 on this app. I think that calls for a wind advisory! I really don't like that you can choose 1 of 8 weather stations. I've went back and forth with The Weather Channel and Fizz to match up what weather station was accurate. And each day the reporting stations would change in accuracy. The weather app already on iPhone was more up to date on the hour than this one. I didn't care for the graphics either. The app is always slow moving when flipping through the different locations you have set. I was always skeptical about this app, now I'm using something better. Don't waste $5.99 if you really care about true accurate weather..Version: 0

So soIt is really approximate often wrong for Canada weather (Montreal) No feels like which is often important in my country So good beginning but some improvement is needed.Version: 0

Go backThis used to be the best weather app out there... with a simple, easy, readable, user interface.. Now (IMO) to get what I want to see off of it is like solving a rubiks cube with a magnifying glass! Go back a couple of revs.. like a year or so ago, and leave the best alone.. every time this gets upgraded it gets less usable. I know it is always my option to upgrade or not, and by now I should have learned the simple truth.. if it's working, just leave it alone. At one time I was sure I would never be interested in another weather app... now I am looking sorry, hallmark.Version: 2.3

Nice App... needs better maps. This really is a nice app. I use it constantly. There is truly a lot to like about this application. However.... my pet peeve is with the radar. While the radar graphics are impressive, you can not zoom in with any accuracy. This is important, especially when severe weather is approaching. There are other programs that use google maps and over lay the doppler radar for accurate storm tracking. Come on guys... get the maps right and you have a true winner!.Version: 0

No radar support for MelbourneNice looking app but no radar support for Melbourne. Not very helpful to me..Version: 0

Yikes...Have to agree, for once, with the peanut gallery here. The app used to be great - if, for some reason, you own the app, haven't upgraded, and are reading this, don't upgrade, or make a copy of the old version first. You'll likely hate v.2. A big portion of the main screen is reserved for a pretty picture to represent the city in question. There are three problems here: (1) if you live or frequent somewhere (generally why you'd save the location), you don't care about the picture, because you're looking at the real place now, or will be soon. (2) even if you like the feature for some reason, if you don't live in a major city, no picture for you! (3) half the screen is wasted, and the fonts displaying the info you care about are tiny, and the pictures frequently make it even harder to read (I'm in NYC, and the details unreadable except under ideal indoor conditions). On the plus side, I do like the slide-out tiles for the charts. The controls for those are clunky, but considering the other UI sins, that's survivable..Version: 2.0

Good with the badI bought this weather app for the satelite view so I know when I can go observing with my telescope. In this respect, the app does what it says but the updated maps are lagging by over 1.5 hrs. So minus 1star for that. Other apps update faster but don't supply animated sat maps. Lost another star for map bugs in zooming and lack of more detailed localized maps. Will be worth the price when these are fix/updated. The rest of the weather info is solid with friendly UI..Version: 0

Great appI know it's a bit rich paying for a weather app, but this one is definitly worth it, at least while the free weather apps are so terrible. The app is very well designed, so it looks beautiful and is responsive to use. Location weather is one of the more useful location based services, and it's good to see it implemented so well. My only gripe is that it only has one Sydney weather station on it's database. It's a huge city and one average temp isn't quite adequate, especially considering the potential of location based weather. Hopefully greater internationalisation will come with later releases..Version: 0

Great and accurate in UKI bought this the other day as I was going boating on the Solent and needed a decent forecast. I have to say that it is a far better weather application than the one bundled with the iPhone. I have, so far, found it to be both reliable and very easy to use. There are lots of options and I particularly liked the ability to choose which weather station was best for my location. You get what you pay for..Version: 0

Was a great app, now not-so-muchThis app was really fantastic - I used it every single day. They could've left the UI alone and just upgraded it to high-rez and it would've been fine. If they can come back with a version that is like the original while also utilizing the advantages of high resolution screens, I'll be very happy. Until then, I'm going to have to find another weather app because this one has essentially been rendered useless..Version: 2.0

Very usefulAccurate, what more to say....Version: 0

UpdateThe new update is awful, please return fizz weather to the way it used to be presented , what a way to cheapen a great weather app!.Version: 2.0

FOR Americans ONLYONLY 8 weather stations for the whole of Australia. Therefore information is likely to be from a station 2000kms away. A complete waste of your time and money unless you are travelling to USA..Version: 0

Hate new versionI used to love this app (gave it five stars) but I hate the new interface. It's become very hard to see the information I need. Now I'm looking for a new weather app..Version: 2.01

Pretty vacantFrom the beginning Fizz weather has been a very pretty app, with large glossy icons on a stylish black background. Nonetheless, I deleted the app several iterations ago in favor of the less sexy but more functional weather channel app, which has hour by hour forecasts and provides more useful information upfront. Last week I decide to re-try Fizz because my wife still uses it, and after a week I'm deleting it again. The developers have continued to add features, but the interface ISA conceptual mess. The "Now" screen also contains the five day forecast, but there is also a tab for the five day forecast. The graphs in landscape mode are cool, but I'd rather a decent implementation of hourly forecasts instead. I spend more time trying to find information than actually reading the info I want. Fizz remains the best looking weather app I've seen, but its confused interface makes less functional than most..Version: 0

Good, but not sureRight, it can get the placenames of every tiny hamlets but is the weather accurately local to that tiny hamlet or is it taking the weather reading from somewhere far away and pretending it's your hamlet? Click on the weather "Now" button and it will tell you which weather stations it is reading from. The map in the application is also near to useless..Version: 0

Staying tuned for more updatesWith a few free options out there, I was hesitant to purchase a weather app. But after using Fizz for a few weeks I think that the app is better than others for more than just the cosmetic advantages it has over WB and TWC. I'm especially thankful for the free weather alerts while living in Minneapolis. I'm also impressed with the multi-city interface while travelling for the holidays. That said, I find the daily forecast descriptions too brief, especially in comparison to those free apps. It would be a pleasure, considering the absence of video forecasts at this time, to read a paragraph description to complement the visual forecasts as the weather changes over the morning, afternoon, and evening. I'd also like to suggest a change to the black background. While this is by far the most photogenic weather app, I wonder if it would be possible to have the color change as the day does: bright blue for an early clear morning, dark gray for thunderstorms, yellows and pinks as the sun sets. In other words, provide another visual cue for the forecast. Otherwise, looking forward to using and recommending this app to friends..Version: 0

No advantage over the free weather app included with iPhoneReviewed 6 Jan 2009:- I bought this app based on the many good reviews it received, but after using it I don't understand why it got such good reviews. Yes, it does find small rural villages, but it gets the weather wrong many times. Eg: last week it said we were going to have 3 days of snow, but we didn't get any at all, in fact it was sunny. It is now saying the current temp is minus -7 degrees C, again this is incorrect...there isn't even any frost on the ground and my own outside temp sensor is showing a reading nowhere near that low! The weather radar doesn't even work at all in the UK, and the maps and satellite images only show a full UK map, cannot zoom in at all. It does provide much more information and has nicer graphics than the standard weather app, but if it's just accurate weather forecasts you're after, the weather app supplied with the iPhone gets it right on many more (if not all) occasions. I just can't see any advantage over the weather app supplied with iPhone. I'm going to give it a few more weeks to be fair, but it's looking like I'll be removing it..Version: 0

Refresh button? This app just needs a refresh button or a setting so that it will fetch data on launch. I'm sick of it getting stumped by wifi WAPs that require authorization for Internet access. Currently it isn't smart enough to switch to edge or 3g when wifi doesn't provide Internet access. It will just blank out all the weather and make you wait 15min to refresh the data and will still make the same mistake if wifi doesn't have Internet access. Lame! It would be nice for the buttons on the bottom to have a pressed/active state. Currently they always look the same with no indication that you have swiched to that buttons mode. Please put a down state to the buttons. Lastly a quick select would be more effective than scrolling through each screen. This could be integrated with an overview view of all locations. Hope to see this soon..Version: 0

Not worth the moneyThis is one of the better apps available but why pay for it when the weather network (weathereye) offers a free version that IMO is better. They even have a link through the logo back to their website to get the detailed info you don't use everyday so you don't need it on a native app. Not bad but not worth the money.Version: 0

Good but there are better weather appsCertainly a lot better than the weather application that the Iphone comes with. I found the lack of the satellite function (US only at the moment) annoying and the graphics for the radar map sloppy. The weather forecasts were fairly accurate but not detailed enough for my liking. I am much happier with the European based WeatherPro especially with the recent update which adds a lot more to that application..Version: 0

Nicest UI, but poor forecastsI've dowloaded and paid for a number of weather apps at this price point. FizzWeather has the nicest UI. It's killer feature is the 48hr hourly forecast graphs of windspeed, rainfall and tempeature. But in general it's just quite a pleasure to use. It's weakest features are it's forecasts, and its low resolution weather maps. Fizz Weather unfortunately uses the US based CustomWeather service as data provider, and for the UK it's just not as good as the Met Office (which has a free app)..Version: 0

Don't like new loading screenThe older version of this app did one thing, and did it well. The recent update introduces an animated loading screen, which is then followed by a second loading screen, and _only then_ does it show you the weather, which is the only thing that I wanted from the app in the first place. See weather pro for how to do a loading screen properly..Version: 0

It's a 3.5 star appFrom five stars, to two stars to three now. just updated with their latest version which IS an improvement over the previous update of a few weeks, but it still feels like some more detailed information like a long term forecast is a little bit hidden. glad they've gotten rid of the grey text and gone back to just white. the app also feels much less sluggish since those previous versions - it feels more responsive, and it is fairly intuitive I guess. overall, it's been a great weather app for me. accurate forecasts and great information. this update is an improvement (from my perspective), and I appreciate that the folks at fizz weather are listening to their customers and making adjustments. before you spend your money here. if you're in canada - go grab 'degrees'. slightly less detail in the long term, but a very smooth interface and it is environment canada. it's my favouritr wx app now, and it's a third of the price of this..Version: 2.01

Beautiful but almost unusableI'm sorry, I have to agree with the others who are criticising the new interface. It is almost totally unusable. Tiny little buttons, shiny squares flying all over the place. The real clue to the ineptness of the design is that all the little tabs have to have instructions on them to let you know how to use them. Yes, it's shiny and beautiful, and I really do appreciate the visual design, but the old interface made it very quick and easy to get into the app, find out the weather for the next two days or next week, and get out again. Now, on startup, I don't get any of the information I want without having to press a tiny little tab. Please, please put it back to something approaching the way it was. We just want to know the weather forecast!.Version: 2.0

Amazing!I was weary about purchasing a weather app as the iphone comes with one, ... i think we have all thought about that. anyway, i took the plunge and it was an amazing decision!! (move the rubbish weather one to page 4 or 5 so its out of the way :) ) this weather app gives sooo much detail, morning, afternoon, evening and night all for the same day. its also much more accurate than the built in weather application. it didnt quite pick up my location perfectly, it managed to find my town, but it picked up a different part of my town. this is a very recommended app for the iphone..Version: 0

OS11Will not work on OS 11. Needs to be updated, otherwise a good program..Version: 2.5

Not worth it...GPS uselessAlthough this app is beautiful, I am frustrated because it is definitely not worth $6. I live in an area where weather can be completely different less than 10 miles away. The selling point was the GPS location based weather. But this is useless since you can only use it in the "add cities" settings screen. For that I can enter the city I'm in manually. It should allow you to press a button from the main screen and get the weather for wherever you are temporarily. Also the maps are excellent but extremely slow to load. And the google link tales you to the Maps app to a completely arbitrary location. Don't see the point of this at all. My free weather apps are better and the only reason I'm keeping this one us cause it cost $6! The useless GPS feature combined with the high price gives it a 2 star rating..Version: 0

Why change a good thing??When I first bought this app, I raved about how accurate it was and told everyone about it. Since the last version update, it's slower, forecast is less accurate and the new start-up screen is a total pain! I just want the weather - NOT to see Fizz name. I am now looking for a replacement and really gutted that it's changed for worst :-(. Has the developers changed the source of their forecast as it's now pretty poor - forecasting all day rain yet not one drop appears! Such a big shame.....Version: 0

NOOOO!!! Maybe okay for the 4G - but a NIGHTMARE for the 3GSGuys, Guys, GUYS... what have you done ? What was clearly the best weather app out there, and I kid you not, a veritable EXAMPLE of inuitive and fluent design has been ruined. I'm in the business and I used the previous version to showcase to others how design an App that added value, kept things simple whilst giving a wealth of information. Things that many other apps could only dream of. Just a few minors tweaks on the animation front would have made the best app I use on a daily basis just perfect I have found the old version of the App in the recycle bin and will be replacing this (dare I say it) over engineered rubbish in the bin..Version: 2.0

Great, but why the ads!I've had this app since the early versions and really like the way it's designed, graphics, etc. That said, I'm *extremely* disappointed by the 'splash screen' added in the recent version. So Apple releases a nice new iPhone 3GS where apps load in a fraction of a second, and this developer goes an introduces a splash screen to slow down the opening! And it's not as if the next time I need a new app I'm going to go look for those written by this developer, I (and I suspect most others) shop for apps based on their needs. This screen is utterly pointless!.Version: 0

Only Airports! The biggest problem I have with Fizz Weather is that for most locations, their only reporting stations are airports. I have found so many places where the reported current weather was very wrong, and then I noticed that it was using the closest airport, which is often in a completely different climate. I don't know why Fizz does not have access to the municipal weather stations that others use..Version: 2.4

Great appFor weather fan!!! Worth the money..Version: 0

No support for Perth, AustraliaWhen trying to add Perth, Australia, the app just keeps on searching until it gives up some minutes later. No message. Who knows whether the search has failed, the parameters were entered wrongly, there was a problem with connectivity or the app just gave up. Pretty useless for Australians. Why is this app even being offered on the Australian store?.Version: 0

New ui is entirely regressiveThe old version of this app was great; Simple, usable and detailed. The new ui is complex and unreadable with very poor discoverability. Its hard to imagine a use case where the new ui is an improvement over the old one. Defiantly change for changes sake. A shame - this used to be the best iPhone weather app out there....Version: 0

Disaster updateA per a number of other reviewers, the earlier versions were very easy to use, displayed all the necessary information clearly. The new version is confusing, the buttons are much too small, and the tiny and dark grey font on a black background and grey gradients makes the text pretty much unreadable. And so off I go to find a new weather app….Version: 2.0

Nice app, but...Just bought the app. works great, but... the [Now] screen shown above is not the same screen that I have (the location display). My display shows the forcast for "1 of 8 reporting weather stations" and then the date/time underneath that. It has arrows pointing in either direction to show the weather from each of the reporting weather stations in my area. After that in smaller print it has the date/ time info again. Kind of redundant. I don't mind the option to show the forcast from multiple weather reporting stations, but I would like to have a setting to just show a default and save the screen real estate. Another desirable would be able to display the Maps (forcast, satellite, radar, google) in landscape mode..Version: 0

This app really requires a good UI designerFor some reason Fizz seem to have lost their way on the UI. Whatever is with the complex sliding, tapping etc etc just to find out the weather for the next week or so? It's just such a mess. This used to be an excellent app but it is getting worse and worse. They do need to get a girp and stop playing with the interface..Version: 2.01

Weather source inaccurate....grrrrrCan't understand how weather sites stay open when so often the weather data is inaccurate. The Fizz Weather Application is great from a software interface viewpoint, but not much use if temperatures given are out by 5 degrees! One would think with today's technology that this wouldn't be a problem but unfortunately it is..Version: 0

Thankfully I saved my previous version!Fancy new interface that's difficult to navigate. Hard to see fading grey screens. My reporting stations changes randomly in this version. Not a welcome upgrade..Version: 2.0

AwfulThe previous 1.x release was a joy to use, with a concise one screen view of everything you needed to know. This release hides information under a difficult to read interface and is designed around the notion that a photo is more important than the information the user purchased the app for. Hugely disappointing, and immediately replaced by the older version..Version: 2.0

Not Bad..Could be betterHaving come to the iPhone from the Pocket PC I was used to having a high quality weather app (SBSH - Pocket Weather). This is a good looking app with some nice features. I lke the 5 day/2 day /now screens. I live in a large UK city and am dissapointed that the radar view is absent for my location. The weather updates are inconsistent - often left with a big red cross. The icons don't seem consistent or match the weather either, for example: At one point today I had 30% chance of rain and a rain cloud, later in the week I have 50% chance of rain and sun / clouds! I think this programme highlights the need for a trial period so you can test the programme where it will be used. I hope future updates improve it..Version: 0

Good, but not nearly good enoughThis app is pretty good overall but has some major shortfalls. The Good -Good screen layout. -Good flexibility regarding setting up multple cities. -Includes current conditions and 2 & 5 day forcasts. -Includes radar ad other maps. The Bad: -Cost....Overpriced for what you get. You can set up a web oage to MSN or anotehr weather page for nothing and get the same info. -No hourly forecast. Should include at least some hourly forecast information. -Wind speed is always wrong. Always shows 16-24mph winds and I go outside and the wind is barely blowing. I'm a bike rider so wind is an imporatn factor for me (and the reason I bought this app) and not having it correct makes the app almost useless to me. -Current conditions page is often not updated until you tell it to update. If you exit the app on that page one evening and then start the app in the morning it still shows the same conditions as last evening until you tap "Now" to update it. For a pay-app, I shouldn't have to tell it to update. Bottom line - The standard iPhone weather app is almost as good as this app. This app is SLIGHTLY better than the free WeatherBug app, but not by much. Save your money and wait for improvements before buying this app. I'm sure their next version will have many improvements..Version: 0

Clouds on this! Not worth the money. Several free ones available that peform brtter and don't. Crash! :-(..Version: 0

Formerly a great appIt was a fantastic app, but the latest update made it more weather-app-like in that all the useful information is carefully hidden behind additional clicks, with text often appearing in light grey on grey. Oh well, was nice while it lasted..Version: 2.0

Excellent but.....It could deserve 4/4.5 stars if it wasn't for one thing: when it comes to the weather in Canada (Toronto in particular), the app failed and disappoints you for the inaccuracy of the info provided. I've tried it in other countries such as Uk, Italy, US and it was excellent. To deserve my 4 or 5 stars, the app has to work also for the Canada area. A part from that, layout, graphic, detail and extra are excellent..Version: 0

No snowfall amounts!!!!!Great program but I really wish it would show the snowfall amounts expected!!!! Also wish it had radar for Canada!!!!.Version: 0

Extremely Well Done Weather ApplicationThis is the best implementation of a weather application yet on the iPhone. Very complete and detailed information is provided. The interface is clean and easy to use. Just add the City or cities that you want to monitor and you are set. Great for anyone, but especially travelers, pilots, sports folk, hikers, bikers, walkers, you get the idea, those who like to get outside and off the living room couch. It will be even better if they add push notification for breaking weather events. ( Apple is planning to add push notification capability for apps in September ) I hope Fizz Weather implements this feature ( HINT HINT !!! ).Version: 0

No radar for CanadaI almost love everything about the app. It provides so much information in such a concise, neat, and organized manner. The bad - the most integral part of weather forcasting, radar, does not work..Version: 0
