✓ TunerFirst I want to say I love this app and have used it for many years. Lately I have been having issues with the tuner. It just stopped working. There is no response when I pluck a string. It’s been that way for a few months and I use another app but I think that app is inferior. The other day I decided to try Guitar Toolkit again! I was playing around a little and when I switched to the “full mode” the pick up worked. When I switched back to the mini mode it stopped picking up sound again. So… the next time I needed to tune I tried Guitar Toolkit again, No luck. So I thought I would close the app and restart it. This time “It worked” I’m not sure if there is something I need to do besides making sure that the app setting is set up to allow Guitar toolkit to access to the microphone. I’m using an iPad Pro (11-inch) (4th generation) running 17.3.1 IOS. Hope this helps..Version: 2.6.0
✓ How I fix the broken tunerToggle “High Contrast Mode” (tap the ‘i’ on the tuner screen, toggle, Done). You may need to do this multiple times. Yes, the tuner broke, but after finding this “fix”, it is again the most used app on my phone..Version: 2.6.0

✓ Can accept the in-app purchase for something this goodAnd even if you don't buy the in-app purchase, it's still got plenty. This is a great app. There are lots that try to do similar things but do them in a mediocre way, I welcome the iPad version and will use it. You have to realise that developing quality software costs money, and this isn't a high price to pay for the one app you need. I'd like to pay a little less, sure, but wouldn't give this app up even if it cost more. It has always been by far the best tuner and chord dictionary and I'm looking forward to trying out the new features. ✓ Very happy with Guitar ToolkitI’ve been using this app since a friend recommended it a few years ago. All the old bugs seem to be fixed and it works flawlessly for me. We use it for guitar, bass and ukulele and it works well for all of them. The chord finder for different instruments is very useful too. I’ve recommended it to my dad who uses it for his mandola (octave mandolin) and he’s happy with it too. Thanks!!.Version: 2.6.0

✓ Toolkit TunerI was also one of those put off by the inconsistency of the tuner. But I love the app, and now that I figured out how to fix the tuner it’s my favorite.- again ! ✓ Better than I thoughtI’ve had this app for many years and never used it much until a few days ago when I needed to find some obscure chords (common in jazz) and put together a chord sheet with the diagrams. Works like a charm for those tasks (if you unlock all the features). This app still works in iOS 13 on both my iPhone and iPad. It appears to be abandoned by the developers, which is too bad because it would benefit from a thorough UI refresh and iCloud functionality..Version: 2.6.0

✓ Best app I’ve ever ver used for ……learning fretboard notes and chord spellings. Miraculous genius. You specify a chord (e.g. Dm6) and it shows you all places to play it on the fretboard. You then practice “spelling”. There’s the root (D). There’s the 6 (B). What’s that? Oh that’s the 5 (A). And there’s the F (3). There is a bug with the tuner display but I’ve figured out how to work around it. FANTASTIC feature for learning the fretboard notes and chord spellings..Version: 2.6.0

✓ Amazing for music theoryWhen I started playing the guitar many years ago, this was what I used all the time. I just realized that I never wrote a review for this this, and I practically use it everyday. For those complaining about the tuner not working. I actually found a weird way to fix it. Go to the fretboard part and press a note around the lower G. Wait a little for the sound to quiet down a little and then go back to the tuner. The phone may screech due to its own feedback if the sound didn’t die down enough. I agree, it’s pretty annoying that the tuner used to be great, but honestly you can find a tuner anywhere, but the ability to identify chords and scales and the huge selection of scales is amazing. It has every scale I have ever heard of except for the Phrygian Dominant (Harmonic Minor starting at the 5th)..Version: 2.6.0
✓ Amazing appThis app is absolutely amazing. I have no idea what everyone’s reviews hating this app is about because this is Literally the only app I fully purchased. I don’t do reviews but I felt the need to do one for this app. it’s absolutely incredible everything you need I will say don’t really care much for the tuner, I have my own. Worth it just for the metronome, chord sheets and the chord building. Not to mention all the instruments they provide. You can step down the guitar to almost any tuning. Seven string guitars four and five string bass. I’m here for it I’ve had this app since my iPhone 8, I believe and I will continue using it..Version: 2.6.0

✓ Now supports ipod touch 2G sound inputThis is a very good application I like the icon and the graphics and it's very user friendly and bug free. It now supports iPod Touch 2G, including the tuner if you have compatible headphones with a mic. iPod 1G users can still use it to tune by ear. I will update my review of the tuner when I get said headphones and will compare Guitar Toolkit's tuner with AP Tuner on my PC. Between the tuner, metronome, ability to hear strummed and plucked strings and the chord charts with the fingerings this is a great all in one app. The tuner also has alternate tunings like drop D etc. The only thing I can think they could add in the future would be the ability to record, perhaps with the metronome optionally ticking away in the background. Then you could hear yourself play. As it stands, an excellent application for guitarists and well worth the money, even in NZD..Version: 0

But the really impressive thing, for me at least, is the quality of the development. This app could have been a native apple produced app - it is just that good. Everything feels and functions exactly as you would think it would from the very first use - it's is incredibly intuitive. It's brilliantly laid out and the UI is first class. Probably the best made 3rd party app I have seen on this platform to date. The app is feature rich, even after using it pretty much every day since buying it I still find new ways to use it and am still impressed by it's versatility. If you are a guitarist just starting or even someone with years of experience - you will find 100 uses for this app. If you know nothing about music it will help you and if you already know a thing or two - it will provide even more avenues of musical exploration. ✓ Tuner FixThis is hands down best guitar app ever created. The tuner quit working after last Apple update but there is an easy fix that has worked for me. When tuner is on, press the “I” button which allows you to change between contrast modes. Changes contrast modes two to three times and it should start to work. ✓ Great App and Feature RichI plaked guitar when I was younger, still have the guitar. My youngest son wanted to start to learn how to play, so I got the guitar out and realized that I needed some way to tune it (I was never that good at it anyway). 2 choices then: go out and pay for an electronic tuner or have a look in the iTunes store. Glad that I looked here first! Sure the app is pricey (if you compare it to other apps) BUT! I got so much more for my money. An electronic tuner would have cost me 10 bucks (lowest I could find). But that is all I would have got. This app on the other hand gives me a tuner, cords, scales and a heap of other stuff! As far as I am concerned this app is awesome and well worth the money and a comparative bargain compared to a tuner. Thanks heaps! Saw some reviews state that the tuner no longer worked and that the app wasn’t worth it anymore. Other than the first time I launched it after downloading it the tuner has worked fine (make sure you give it microphone permissions). This app is hands down the best music app I’ve ever used. No contest. I’m a 20 year plus musician who can play four of the instruments covered in this app and am ever so grateful for Guitar Toolkit. It sky rocketed my understanding of theory. It’s basically a calculator for music theory. If you have the basics of theory and the imagination, this tool is amazing for anything music and is by far my most valuable resource for music theory. To the developers: My only complaint is that you don’t have it for piano. I love that you can change the instrument from guitar to many instruments and you can see the chords and scales for them all. You can even see different tunings. ✓ It might be pricy but it's worth it.I've just started learning the guitar and fount this package to have everything I was looking for. The quality of the tuner is extremely good (it even surprised my instructor) and a very handy metronome (this combination in the shops alone would cost 3 times the price). Once you include a chord and scale list so long you'll get board with looking at just by flicking through let alone looking at. There also a lot of other things to play around with (probably for more advanced people than me) in a very user friendly package. With that bought the app promptly crashed immediately, and now won’t open at all. ✓ Good rounded app, but…Been using the paid app since the first or second year of release (had it on a gen2 iPhone) and have been very happy with with it the whole time. Been able to refine load without repaying each time I upgraded my iPhone without issue too. Sadly there seems to be a glitch where the tuner window will occasionally just be a black screen when opens. The rest of the app is fine and useable but the actual tuner isn’t available for some reason. I’ve tried shutting down and reopening the app, deleting and re-downloading the app and turning my phone off and on again with no easy fix yet discovered. Lucky it seems to be pretty intermittent but it’s definitely a pain in the backside. Maybe an update and bug fix would be good but the app doesn’t seem to have changed or been updated in years. Over all a good app that’s been slightly spoiled by the new glitch. Would recommend but with caution..Version: 2.6.0

✓ Best of the best!This app replaced dozens of guitar AND bass reference books for me and since I like experimenting with alternate tunings it definitely has been my most valuable tool. The ability to make chord sheets alone is worth the price. I have searched and searched over the years and no other app has come even remotely close to the layout, ease of use, sound and style. I have used it for learning and practice almost daily for probably 10yrs and at least 4 iPhones. Usually for several hours at a time too. It has never crashed or given me false tuning readings(what? I blame the operator lol). So with regard to the the 1star reviews - they either have ulterior motives, didn’t give it a chance or like paying for expensive subscriptions because GuitarToolkit is unbeatable. In those ten years the only thing that I could think of that it can’t do is stick a printable scale diagram or two on my chord sheets. Other than that, I think it set the bar pretty high since most of the others are only now starting to catch up. I’ve very highly recommended this to my students, family and friends and will continue to do so as long as it’s around..Version: 2.6.0
✓ Update tuner !!!! PleaseI have loved this app for years but now have to delete and go with another one iStrobosoft was suggested so maybe everyone that has issues can change . ✓ Great App, except maybe the price...This app is great! I REALLY like the fact that I can tap a tempo and it will tell me how many BPM's it is. I also like the fact that there's a in-built chord chart which shows you all the chords there are. There is also another feature that allows you to chose the frets and it'll tell you what chord it is. it also has a tuner that's VERY accurate but for iPod Touch users (like me) It could be a bit troublesom to hav to use the mic on the ear phones but if you use that all the time, then it's fine. Great app but I thought the price was just a bit too much. Maybe $7.99 would've been better but still a great app. 5 Stars..Version: 0

✓ This app is a revolution. It has no peers.This is my favourite iPhone app in all categories. It is perfectly executed. This collection of tools could only be done in software. On an iPhone it is in your pocket, which is where it needs to be. The only other way would be a metronome, a tuner and a couple of books. Even if you had this pile of stuff, you couldn't do the very cool things like stum (or finger pick) the chords from the (very comprehensive) chord dictionary. Think about the value of what you have here. It's a true bargain. The only thing you would need a separate tuner for would be electric instruments. With the other features, I can't see any disadvantages over their hardware counterparts..Version: 0
