✓ Very cool. Test your hearing.I bought it to tune my guitar and to just play with sounds. However, I discovered it is an excellent way to test your hearing. Turn the volume down some and use a good set of earphones to test your hearing for losses. People with hearing loss could actually use this to track the character of their hearing loss over time. I was devastated when IOS 11 came out and the tuner wasn’t working. Thanks for the quick update. The temperament function really makes it worth it, too. Ever since I read an article in an article in Disc Makers Blog, I’ve used it regularly. Below is a brief section from that article: James Taylor, in order to accommodate the vagaries of acoustic guitars, tunes his strings flatter than normal. Here is his guide: High E string -3 cents B string -6 cents G string -4 cents D string -8 cents A string -10 cents Low E string -12 cents This tuning method is also great for using a capo. Now, your mileage may vary. Your guitar is different than Taylor’s guitar. Your action may be higher. Maybe you play harder. Maybe you don’t use capos. Try it out and adjust your tuning as need be. Anyway, thanks again! This tuner is the best of any I’ve found in the App Store, and (if you’re a serious musician) is worth more than the price you are charging. ✓ Too good to be true, but it is trueI have always had trouble keeping my mandolin in tune. The string sets never or seldom ever sounded right to me my guitar, mandolin, dobro and banjo have never sounded so good! I triedClear tune in noisy rooms where other tuners failed, and it worked perfectly! ✓ Bring back the old functionality and lookI want the unlock functionality back in the frequency generator. A useful feature when you are basically working in one temperament but want to tweak one note. The old pull down menu was also better to use and much easier to read, and the smaller pitch wheel was better when you want to quickly flip to a different note. ✓ Best tuner for string instrumentsI’m a classical cellist and teacher. This tuner is awesome and accurate. I teach my students with this app because it has a great display of both the pitch wheel and a left/right display for flat/sharp. Ive found they get the hang of tuning their own instruments and improve their sense of pitch fairly quickly. I also like that I can adjust the temperament depending on repertoire. ✓ This one actually works properly!!I downloaded three different ‘Free’ Apps for Guitar Tuners, and none of them worked properly on my phone. All three were also plagued by pop-up ads and scrolling banner ads. So I decided to get a proper App and pay for it. Well - Cleartune Cromatic Tuner is the business. As a musician for the past 50 years my hearing is dropping off and I needed a tuner to get my guitar perfectly tuned. On my old iPhone3GS the program runs well, and the mic in the phone picks up the strings of the guitar either through the amplifier and speaker, or (with the case removed to get a slight vibration from the body) direct from the guitar without the amp! ✓ The best tuner I've ever usedOver the past few decades of tuning guitars: during gigs, all my students's guitars, in my studio for myself and clients, I've used a range of tuners. Clear Tune made a noticeable difference in my recordings as well - the green OK "good enough" signal in many tuning apps ignores the 5% either side of zero, so when I got Clear Tune, the extra percentage meter made a big difference. I've been holding off from updating my phone, knowing Clear Tune and another fave app will stop working with the latest iOS updates. I wish the app makers would update it. Interestingly, since getting an iPhone 6S Plus, the performance of Clear Tune has reduced slightly. Could just be part of the manufacturer's deliberate software throttling of older phones..Version: 2.2

✓ Hooray!Finally, a tuner app that works for classical musicians! So many of the most popular tuner applications are for guitarists, so it was really refreshing to find this one. I love the ability to choose key and notation system and adjust the calibration of the tuning pitch. All though I don't do much historical performance, those who do will appreciate the wide array of different temperaments to choose from. ✓ A great tunerI have had no problems with the tuner, and our band director used it for about 3 years until he wanted a more feature-filled app. (I don't blame him considering that he used his phone to tune, record, and act as a metronome.) As a bassist, sometimes it's hard for me to tell when I'm out of tune, especially on the E string. I have always gotten it down to a T when tuning using this. For guitar and bass players (maybe all string instruments?), my other strings tend to ring out when I tune, and that causes the app to spin pretty badly. As long as all my other strings are muted, it works fine. For those rating it very lowly because it's not working: Have you tried using another person's phone/iPod? I watched a friend of mine use this to tune a piano and his trumpet..Version: 2.1.3

✓ Reasonable appLike all apps of this type it is distracted by background noise and useless if other instruments are being tuned at the same time. So don't use it if you're in a band onstage. Otherwise it's pleasant to use, although a bit expensive compared to others. I just tuned my six string acoustic with it and it worked although the needle did fly around a lot once it showed the note. I've tuned my flute with it and it was useful and the needle held against the note afterwards. I found it useful in getting the pitch right for other flute notes. With an electric guitar you would have to plug it into an amp as well, probably, to get the volume but I haven't tried that yet as that equipt is packed away. Ultimately you're limited by the device itself -ipad, iphone etc. Take it for what it is, something you'd use in the house or other quiet area..Version: 2.1.3

✓ Love this appI play the cello and well it works and it's awesome, I would recommend it for anyone. The ONLY thing was that I wanted to use a G as a drone because I was playing something in G Major so I turned on the G to the loudest volume setting on my iPhone and after it damaged my speaker and now my speaker is basically broken, so I would recommend not putting the volume all the way up if you want to use the tuner as a drone, either that or use other headphones or heavy duty speakers if you want to use a note as a drone..Version: 2.1.3

✓ Great TunerI’ve used this app on my iPhone since I had a 3GS. Updates are rare and that’s a good thing because there’s really nothing to improve on. Nothing burns me more than a useless update for no reason. It’s more accurate and sensitive than any real tuner you could buy for twice the price or more. Very easy to use. Like virtually all tuner apps that use the internal mic of the device, it will be susceptible to ambient noise in the vicinity of the guitar being tuned. The green needle used to turn green when you were +/- 5 cents from the center of the pitch. Now it’s perpetually green. Please change it back to how it was. 2. The pitch pipe used to have a lock setting so that you could set it to any pitch and listen to what it sounds like in or out of tune. Please bring that lock setting back so the pitch pipe works exactly as it did before. No big deal, just hoping the developers see this review and make those changes if they feel the need to. ✓ Great with an iRigThis tuner works great with the phones built in mic on an acoustic guitar. It works ok on an unplugged electric if you hold it really close to the strings, but for electric it really shines when connected through an iRig(I'm sure other similar adapters work fine too). I've used this on iPhone 4, iPad 2, and iPhone 5. My main use is still on my old iPhone 4 which I keep around as a beater for just this type of use. I'm guessing this would have worked fine on my 3G while I still had it if I hadn't killed its usefulness by installing iOS 4 on it which slowed it to a crawl..Version: 2.1.3

✓ Fantastic-buy this!I don't normally write reviews, but this app is amazing - so much better than my hardware tuner. I've never found it easier to tune my guitars and dulcimer etc and it's much more responsive, accurate and easier to read than my hardware one (which is quite good). I actually bought it as a pitch pipe, but it's become my 'go to' tuner. I write to picture and am recording guitars etc over samples that are very in tune, so it's really important to get the real instruments bang on. Really impressive app..Version: 2.1.3
✓ WonderfulAs a string teacher I use this app on a daily basis and I love it. It hears string bass notes which is super helpful and works well on harmonics as well! Love it. My only suggestion/request is can we add a widget to the today screen/notification bar? I would love to not have to unlock my phone every time a student bumps their instrument and I have to retune everything. ✓ Works great!This app is a life saver. It is extremely accurate. We have several tuners lying around but I always reach for my phone. I have tuned every guitar I own from acoustics to bass guitars and never had a problem with a note registering. I plug the guitar into my phone when tuning. I have used the iPhone built in mic before and it worked fine as well. ✓ Thanks for the iOS 11 UpdateIt's a great relief that Cleartune lives on. I thought I would lose it on upgrading to ios 11 and there aren't many good alternatives. I use it to give notes to singers, and it is easy to use but flexible. There are many settings for pitch, transposition and temperament and you can create presets of any of these. UPDATE - Minor problem: you can't delete presets as the app crashes if you try. I would prefer to see five notes on the pitch pipe dial like before, not just three. It can of course also be used to tune instruments..Version: 2.2
