Lifesum Food Tracker & Fasting for Negative User Reviews

Inaccurate Maximum CaloriesMaximum calories are significantly under what they should be. At 4’10 and 100lbs, as well as my active lifestyle, I should be at maximum 1800cals per day. Also, I should be taking in around 180cals from carbs and 180cals from fat per day (or slightly less). I set my goal to “maintain weight”, and it gave me a maximum of around 1385cals. I haven’t looked at the “losing weight” or “gaining weight” calculation, but I would imagine that they are a dangerously low number and a normal number respectively. For someone who does not know their actual nutritional needs, an app like this could be dangerous. Users will likely take the number as fact. I find that my number is around 500cals under what it should be. However, it can be a useful calorie tracking app for someone who is educated on their personal nutritional needs and who is willing to go through and add all of their food eaten accurately instead of using the search feature. I still use it, I just ignore the calorie count and use a maximum of 1800cals. I also manually input foods. For those wanting a quick and easy way to log cals, this could still work..Version: 17.2.0

Had promise but is way too buggy now.Purchased a month of the premium subscription to try it out, but I just can’t recommend it. Too expensive for what features it actually offers, especially when they don’t work properly. Using the free version, it just counts carbohydrates in total, and doesn’t display net carbs. Today I tried editing an item on the food diary from yesterday, and instead of updating that entry, it deleted it completely from that day, and added it to today’s entries. Also, multiple times a day, the set macros (which can only be changed with a paid subscription) change to whatever percentages they feel like. I have to keep going back to the nutrition settings to change them to my values multiple times a day. I used this app a few years back when 90% of features weren’t locked behind an absurd paywall, and it was far better. Now I’m expected to pay to use extremely basic features, that barely work..Version: 12.0.2

Won’t let you choose water bottle sizeUpdate 2: Finally responded to my actual review. But they still are not going to implement the simple feature. I’m extremely disappointed that they are not prioritizing customer concerns. Update: Developer responded with a canned response and told me to add my feedback to their UserVoice which I mentioned in my original review that they don’t care about. I still stand by my review that they aren’t listening. This app is great except for fact that you can’t have a custom bottle size for water tracking! You can only choose between a 9oz bottle and a 17oz bottle. I have many bottles that do not conform to those sizes and it makes water tracking in LifeSum impossible. To make matters worse, this was requested on their feedback site 3 years ago, has received almost 1000 votes, and they haven’t even responded to it, let alone implement it. I actually really want to buy the premium version of this app but I can’t give money to a company that won’t listen to their customers. Especially when literally every other water tracking app supports custom bottle sizes. I will be returning to this review to give it 1 stars after every update until this is resolved. You’ve had 3 years, and this isn’t hard to implement - I’m a software engineer - I know how this stuff works. Please fix this..Version: 8.8.8

Incredibly limited and annoyingI decided to try this out to see if premium was worth getting. The food library is not valid for all countries, nutrition values totally wrong for the same items. Creating custom items takes forever (as you’d expect) but editing a mistake on one item is for premium only. You can’t even delete an item! No ability to add in a meal without knowing its weight even if you know the totals for the nutritional info..Version: 8.11.0

It doesn’t work correctly in Apple WatchCircles information is too slow in synchronising.Version: 9.0.5

Good…. butI downloaded this app and at first it looked good, recipes, diet plans etc. it wasn’t until I’d entered all the info for a diet plan and clicked on ‘start plan’, that a pop up for ‘start premium’ appeared. It would’ve be nice to have been told at the start I would need the premium subscription to be able to have a diet plan. Same with recipes, I clicked on a recipe and there was the pop up again. I currently use MyFitnessPal, where exercise programs and recipes are included without having to subscribe to the premium version and it’s made clear before you attempt to do anything, that you will need the premium subscription to do it. I don’t mind paying for something, what annoyed me was that it wasn’t made clear beforehand. I’m afraid I will be deleting it and going back to MyFitnessPal which has helped me lose around 20lbs..Version: 14.5.0

It’ll get the job done, but it could be betterCalorie tracking and dieting options work well and seem to cover a wide variety of needs. It is cumbersome to find the food and/or measurement needed for accurate tracking at times; requiring the user to do some creative math or mental gymnastics to figure out what should be entered. I paid for a membership and feel it’s okay—I won’t likely be renewing. The recipes offer some tasty and decently filling alternatives, but are HORRIBLY written, as often as not. If you’re not familiar with finagling and “figuring out” a recipe or if that type of this is frustrating, this is not the app for you. This feels most functional for a few scenarios: first, the casual user who already has a decently healthy understanding of food, quantities, cooking, etc., and is just looking for a little guidance, new ideas for recipes or to literally track calories. Second, any of the diets, I’d bet, would work if you’re a person who can follow the recipe EXACTLY (I follow “classic” and “vegan” but would struggle with both if I didn’t already have experience eating/cooking alternative foods). This WOULD NOT be for the user who doesn’t really know at least some about healthy eating (novice) nor would it be for the serious weight loss/health person (expert) as it just doesn’t support specifics well enough..Version: 10.4.0

Drives me crazyEven after I turned off all notifications it sends me reminders to weigh or add in my eats. Every time I open the app it asks me if I want to purchase the premium version. It’s like “Pay me money and I’ll stop water-boarding you!” Hell no. I’ll just hit the wee “x” in the corner if you don’t shut up and go back to Fitbit which did it free..Version: 8.11.4

Can't cancel subscriptionI've been charged for this for another month and cannot cancel my subscription. Please cancel this. It doesn't work for me..Version: 8.11.3

Great app but,I like to track my food intake to keep myself on track. With ADHD, I forget to eat sometimes. Now, I’m facing a new challenge/diagnosis, Crohn’s disease. I’d like if there was a section that you could add if you have gastro intestinal issues that would affect your ability to process certain foods….Version: 16.15.0

Used to be fantasticI used to love Lifesum because tracking my macros, calories, exercise etc. was so simple. Everything was right there. Now with the new 'aesthetic' visuals, it's confusing and hard to navigate. Where are my day ratings? I've used this app for years. Sad to see it go..Version: 17.0.0

Great for tracking calories. Overall discouraging.I read so many reviews to find an app to help me keep track of my food intake when I restarted the 5-2 Intermittent Fasting plan. This app does that, but overall is really discouraging and unrealistic. In 7 days of tracking, I have not had ONE meal that was not labeled “imbalanced” on this app. I’m either too high on protein or too high I’m carbs or too high on sugar (ANY meal that includes fruit) and frankly I am already sick of all their frown face icons and impossible standards. Today is my 500 calorie day — just finished dinner of a piece of broiled tilapia and a cup of broccoli with a tiny bit of garlic sauce. Too high in protein and not enough carbs! For goodness sake, I’m limited to 500 calories! Almost all of my breakfasts have “not enough protein”, yet I looked through all their breakfast recipes and NONE of the low calorie recipes have the amount of protein they recommend. Last week on my fast day it said I was too low in protein so I ate a hard boiled egg as my snack — and it said it was too much fat. There are no suggestions about alternatives that would be a better choice. I fear this app has the propensity to lead to disordered eating and obsessing. Very disappointed and I regret buying a six month membership that is not refundable..Version: 10.3.5

Keep Improving This AppI use a few apps for recipes already. Those apps all include nutrition values and labels. It would be nice if I could import/share those into lifesum without having to manually enter everything one at a time. A few of them have options to add those values to Apple health directly from the app. Lifesum writes data to health, but does not read. I think it would almost be better to separate functions out to apps. Have food apps handle entering / removing data into health and then have trackers reading and analyzing what you just ate so you can make informed decisions. I’d rather have two clean apps rather than one bloated app. I would imagine narrowing the scope would take out a lot of the overhead needed to maintain and update the app, thus making it even more clean and user friendly. Anyways, this is just my observation after using lots of food tracking apps. The interface may be different but functionally they are all kinda doing the same thing. I would also like to see more support for the Apple Watch when it comes to simple things like adding water and quick calories. The front end of this app is really beautifully done. If the back end was doing something unique then I could see myself paying for this app..Version: 10.3.1

Needs an update!I have used this app for about a year. It has helped me lose 52 pounds. The app works, so it gets 5 stars for working. However, I just upgraded my phone to an iPhone 12 Pro Max. I am finding several issues when going into certain screens where the text at the bottom if the screen is “running off” the screen, and I am unable to get out of certain screens because the “X” that you press to close the screen is in the upper left hand corner and it is partially off of the screen and you are unable to push it (the iPhone 12 Pro Max screen is .2” larger, so an update is needed.). There is also an issue when you go to create your own food/drink. I tried to add cappuccino and when you are adding a new food or drink you also need to add the serving size. My choices are grams or milliliters (both metric), although my preferences are set to imperial. It’s a minor issue, but they seem to be popping up in multiple places. This app has been great, however when I am paying for the premium subscription ($49 year) and my wife is as well, we expect the app to be up to date..Version: 12.1.0

Better apps out thereI recently purchased this app and thought I’d give it a go based on reviews. Firstly, I wouldn’t recommend installing or paying £7.99 for this app. When putting food in from previous days in automatically puts it on the date that you’re on. Trying to find the food is really difficult! They don’t have hardly anything on the app unless I scan the barcode for it then to come up with just 1 calorie and I know that’s wrong because custard definitely isn’t 1 calorie. I’m finding it very frustrating to use and the data definitely seems incorrect to me! I’ve giving up using it. If I had a review like this before purchasing then I wouldn’t have brought this app so want to inform others before they waste their time. Definitely better apps out there!! Don’t get me started on the meal plan, if you have time to spend 3 hours making a tiny portions of god knows what, then be my guest but the recipes are fair to complicated and most of the recipes repeat throughout the different programmes. Really not helpful for someone who wants to clean eat, you’ll end up spending hundreds a month on a food shop..Version: 11.2.1

Wrong nutritional informationApp shows wrong nutritional information for most products. Need information updated, sent suggestions many times but still the information doesn’t match with the information on actual product label. Data doesn’t get registered in health app of the phone several times, have double check every time and if the information not registered have update in app again and again until it shows in the health app. Waste of money and time If this is not fixed..Version: 14.7.2

Great App but glitchyThe interface, database and overall presentation of the app is fantastic however there are some overall glitches in the app that make it difficult to commit to using. The app provides you with the options of Being Healthier, Losing Weight or Gaining Weight however it only allows you to switch or change between Losing Weight or Being Healthier. Attempting to choose the Gaining Weight option results in it automatically defaulting to the Being Healthier option thus providing you with incorrect calorie and nutritional guidelines..Version: 9.1.1

I don’t hate it…Lifesum is good but I find it annoying I can’t connect it to my Apple watch nor can I see the daily rating of my health without paying. I totally understand asking for money for premium but the whole reason I got the the app was to improve my health and I can’t do that without seeing my daily rating. Like?.. seriously?.Version: 16.15.0

Stupid appI brought premium and I was charged meaning money was taken from my account but I wasn’t given the premium! Disappointed and deleting the app once I get my refund absolute rubbish.Version: 13.0.0

Used to be goodThe app used to be good, now it doesn’t work well. When you meal prep & want to register the same meal as yesterday it does nothing (this used to work really well), sometimes the food gets registered in the wrong day, even thought I just put a meal in that day, takes too long to add any food to the day, loading times are unbelievably long even when you register the same food multiple times & finally, the way of changing between grams and other units was better before the big update this app had a couple of years ago..Version: 17.7.0

Awful navigation, terrible trackerThis hets 2 stars instead of 1 because i do actually use it to track, mostly because there’s little better out there. But the rest of the app is total garbage. It is inaccurate and poorly sourced, confusing to navigate if you want to change your plan, and the nutritional meals are extremely confusing. First, it only allows you to choose one dietary choice. For example, i try and eat a low carb diet but i ALSO want to keep that diet by eating clean and whole foods. But i have to choose one or the other. I am a pescatarian, and for some reason I still get recipes that suggest chicken or other meat. Also the “nutritional tracker” is literally never happy—you could have the healthiest meal and it will say you are nutritionally off track because you didn’t hit *exactly* the nutritional intake it demands to the exact gram. If you have baked salmon, an extremely healthy food with lean protein and omega 3’s it says the meal is “too high in fat,” the same as if you had pizza. It doesn’t differentiate between good fats and bad. There’s no pleasing the nutritional tracker. It is annoying to search for recipes, and it seems like just a way for celebrity fitness influencers to make even more money when this could be an actual social app for real users to share recipes, exercises, and fitness data. What a waste..Version: 10.4.0

False Advertising & Poor Diet Poor Diet Entry ChoicesImages displayed on Apple Apps fail to reflect the reality of the images and options offered in the app after purchasing premium version in all sections. For example I purchased the premium version yet was NEVER offered choices between diet plans as the first image on advertised app provided. I was never offered Keri, sugar free or other types of diet options as advertised. I was only offered choices of goals for weight Loss, weight gain or maintained weight. Hence, this is false advertising of the premium app I bought. Also, the food entry choices are unrealistic and useless in the premium app. For example, if trying to enter chicken broth, a taco, anything, one may not adjust the quality, size, amount ever. Hence the diet tracking is false and their is no option for example to enter 8 ounces more of chicken broth or a second taco. And most of the items are by brand name. Hence, the food info entered is rarely accurate given one cannot adjust the quality or size. Sad given the app is advertised doing things it actually does not offer. The high rating must be from employees family and friends. I feel like the 6 month membership with theft and I. Violation of CA law prohibiting false representations from businesses, also a misdemeanor offense u see CA law..Version: 11.3.1

Constant begging for upgradeBefore you even try the app they push premium. You try for the first time - “hey, would you like to some insight?” - “Sure” I say - “great, upgrade to premium here”. Or “we recommend this for you - click here to find out more” - “great, this will be interesting” - “you know the drill by now, sign up for premium”. Beautiful app - useful - a lot of duplication of the same thing - typing in black coffee gets a page full of results - hardly any of which is actually black coffee!! Poor first impression compared to myfitnessspal but I can see that with a bit of regular use you can overcome many of the issues. I would even consider subscribing if it was more naturally promoted. Not now. The only reason that I didn’t delete the app is that a friend highly recommended it..Version: 10.1.2

Very very slowThis app is taking a long time to load, constantly crashing. I have an iPhone XR so it’s not like I’m trying to load from an ancient device. Couldn’t even get it to start up.Version: 12.0.5

Good app expect keep freezing on recipeIt's a really well consider and layout app, heaps function and got me almost going to pay for it... However keep freezing on the recipe page also make my phone freeze, have to restart my phone to be normal again.Version: 8.8.6

So buggy now!!!!!!!!!!I’ve been using this app for almost 4 years, but in the last year this app has gotten SO BUGGY. It won’t remove food I want to remove; when I try to add “same as yesterday” it will add the meal to the previous day instead of today and it is taking longer and longer to load. It would be great to see these things fixed as a this is my go to calorie tracker.Version: 18.0.0

Would not recommendI paid for the full subscription but it’s got terrible food options and really strange nutritional advice on some food groups like vegetables..Version: 17.7.0

BugsWhen trying to access all lunch recipes the app shuts down. Also, when accessing breakfast/dinner/snack recipes there is no return to the main recipes page. You have to relaunch the app. Update: dinner recipes are also crushing now. Guys, you really need to fix this..Version: 8.7.2

Too expensiveThe app is well designed and looks great, and the few Aussie barcodes I scanned worked perfectly. The problem is you need to subscribe to the pro version and pay $10 per month to sync data from another device... So even if you’re using an Apple Watch, Apple Health, a smart scale, or a Fitbit, you’ll still need to manually input your weight, waist size, etc. No way am I paying $120 per year to allow the app to see data from other sources, this should be included in the free version!! Exporting data I could understand, but importing data just enriches the app experience - and they want you to pay to make their app work better. No thanks!.Version: 9.0.3

Beautiful but needs workI got this app after seeing several ads for it in my Facebook feed. I like that it offers many different plans and gives you instant feedback on the quality of food you are eating, but many of the features advertised do not work properly. For example, I chose the three week weight loss plan. It generated recipes and a shopping list, which I thought was cool. But it does not let you add the recipes directly to your food diary -- clicking on the recipe did not do anything and I had to enter each ingredient manually, even though I followed the recipe exactly. This seems like a waste of time and a pretty big thing to overlook. Searching the recipe database for the recipe did not work either, as they are organized by tags and not by title or ingredient, making it even harder to find what you're looking for. I had to delete and reinstall the app to even get the water tracker to show up. There is also no way to manually sync the app with Fitbit; it just kind of does it when it wants to, which I also see as a major flaw. It's a beautiful app, but very clunky and full of dead ends. I paid for premium and at this point I wish I hadn't..Version: 8.8.5

Used to work well but lately noCan’t repeat meals from yesterday anymore - circle keeeps circling but voila nothing happens.Version: 18.1.0

Food tracking is frustratingThe food data base is very limited, which makes tracking calories a frustrating task! I had found during my two week free trial of Noom, that tracking what I ate every day was a very significant factor for me, in trying to live healthier. Noom seemed to have almost everything I searched for in their database with accurate nutritional information. However Noom is very expensive compared to this app, so I abandoned Noom for this app, which I’d hoped would be as user friendly in regards to food/calorie tracking. Unfortunately this is not the case, so I find myself using comparable foods/dishes in the limited database and just going with them for ease of use. Which leaves me feeling as though I’m not truly tracking my intake, opening the door to failure!.Version: 16.12.0

GlitchesSo many bug glitches, just use a different app. this is a great calorie + macro counter, but there’s so many glitches that there’s just no point. i hate it.Version: 17.7.0

Don’t botherThis app is great if you don’t care about accurately tracking what you’re eating. Every single food item will have something wrong on the nutritional information, most commonly is the sodium content which people put the salt content (they aren’t the same thing). Lifesum then “Verifies” these items which means it’s impossible to amend the wrong info. Even when you can amend the info you have to do it every single time you scan the item as it doesn’t remember the correct values. The only way around this is to send screenshots of this to support who take a week to reply saying they’ll update it. Additionally the recipes/meal plans are incredibly limited and are rarely ever updated. Having been a premium subscriber for the best part of 3 years I won’t be bothering again. The developer response to this is utter rubbish. These issues have existed for years and been reported for years and they do nothing to fix them. Saying report the items to support does nothing because they a) leave the incorrect item up b) take days to respond and c) they create a new item which you can never find. They need to address the fundamental issues with this app rather than just copy & pasting the same response to reviews..Version: 16.7.0

So close to being perfectI pay for premium and expected it to recommend foods or ways to make up for missed nutrition goals. Example: I didn’t meet my protein goal for breakfast - what food item would help me meet that calorie and nutrition goal and is there a recipe to accompany that recommendation? Please that would make premium really worth the money!!.Version: 16.9.0

Truly annoyingLibrary is mostly pre-made store food and there are barely any Canadian items, the app only works when online and most of the times it has a hard time updating meals, wish I could get a refund!.Version: 17.7.0

Doesn’t openReally sick of paying for an app that half the time doesn’t even open. It’s so beautifully designed which is what made me support the app and start a paid membership, but half the time when I need it to open it doesn’t open and instead I have to track in my notes and photos which defeats the purpose of the app. App is updated, phone software is update. This isn’t an issue of my phone..Version: 16.9.0

Great app but has some bugsNice app for tracking weight and nutrition but currently experiences a calorie bug and won't respect what's set under profile. I have target set to 1927cal/day but it doesn't use that as the daily limit..Version: 17.0.0

Be cautiousThis app started my eating disorder because I was only 13 and didn’t know the damage restricting and counting calories could cause. The age restriction should be higher, and there should be educational resources on food disorders, or a disclaimer, or just something for people who don’t realise they could be vulnerable to the damages of calorie counting. Just be wary that in the wrong hands, like a 13 year old girl going through body imagine issues, this sort of thing can promote anxiety around food, eating disorders, and so much more for years to come. I’m now 17 and still struggle with the effects of this, and I think that just putting something in place to add caution for people on this app could be helpful in preventing this sort of thing, and promote it as a tool, and not something to obsess over! - promote that not reaching a calorie goal each day doesn’t mean you have to eat less the next day or something. I also found how atrocious it is that you could set a goal to only consume 1200 calories a day. That is the amount of calories an average toddler eats. And the fact that I didn’t know that until years later, and that I had been trying to starve myself for years because I thought that thats what you have to do to lose weight - because this app told me so - is terrible. I haven’t been on this app for 2-3 years, so I’m not sure if anything has changed. I’m hoping that it has, or will..Version: 15.0.0

Needs a free trial! The app is very nice, but a little too restricted for free accounts. I’ve considered purchasing a premium account but with no free trial I’m hesitant to pull the trigger. Furthermore the price difference between a short term membership and a long term one per month is completely insane, so even if I pay for a month to trial it I’m liable to experience buyers remorse one way or another. My suggestions would be either to reduce the restrictions on free accounts or to adjust your pricing and offer some form of free trial (even 7 days is fine)..Version: 8.10.7

I paid for recipes with BUGS?? 🐜I really used to like this app and I knew I might have wanted to get the premium one day; but it seems like I must’ve got it at the wrong time. So far being a premium member I’ve seen the dumbest things on this app. this app doesn’t even track the smiley faces right; I eat super good some times and I don’t even get good face ratings at the end of the day. Besides that, Im mainly paying for the recipes because I wanted to see if I would get more help with being more creative with the food I eat. But today I seen that they recommended grasshopper tacos?? And I know that a lot of people eat or are open to eating bugs; but seriously? that is the most disgusting & the most unrealistic thing I’ve ever seen. the fact that we’re paying this much money for trash recipes and gimmicky stuff like this really pisses me off and I won’t be buying the premium membership ever again. this seriously was a waste of time and if I could go back I really would. I hate that it seems like the longer that I’m on this (premium) app; the the more I regret every penny that I paid here. Really would not recommend anything but the default membership. 👎🏼 since being a premium member doesn’t really get you anything but dumba$$ smiley faces, ridiculous recipes and a “life score” rated by a test that doesn’t even make sense. DONT WASTE UR MONEY!.Version: 14.14.0

Won’t even let me make an accountIt’s claiming I have an existing account with my email, yet won’t send me a forgot password confirmation email .. and I NEVER SIGNED UP. What a joke.Version: 17.0.0

Another useless app deletedThis app has no free trial. Why would anyone pay £7.99 per month before knowing if it’s any good? It asks you to sign up then asks questions regarding your goals etc which is fair enough but after wasting ten minutes giving them the information it offers pictures of recommend recipes. However, when you click on them it then requires payment. Like most healthy recipes given on apps and in magazines they consist of strange ingredients I’ve never seen or heard of. Also it asks you to scan barcodes. I can’t say I’ve ever seen meat from a butcher or fruit from a grocers with an individual barcode attached. Presumably then the app is mainly set up for ping meals and therefore not very healthy. In conclusion it’s a good concept but with poor execution and if I paid for this app I’m certain I wouldn’t use it and would waste my money. Update: I have since been bombarded with emails to purchase the full app and had to unsubscribe and here is their reply to my original review which doesn’t really address anything and sounds like a right faff. "Thank you very much for your feedback! You have different ways to track your food - one is the barcode scanner mentioned by you, another one to create your own food items, meals or recipes under FAvorites in the app and track from there or you can simply enter the food title and calories using the simple tracking functionality..Version: 10.0.6

Great in partBeen using for while now & over about 6/8 wks lost 6lb was doing great with lifestyle etc-🤗👍 would totally recommend ; until my injury , within 1.5 weeks of no exercise ( on total rest ) and painkillers that had to be taken with food at certain times - ( so couldn’t fast ) put 6lb back on in same amount of days as it took in weeks to lose ! 😥 some guidance through times of poorer health ( esp with fast diets , ie an option to change if ill & revert back when better that’s built in) would be much appreciated. In test not once does it ask about health , exercise in relation to health and medication . Someone who has to eat to line stomach for meds needs help to plan & if can’t exercise needs help to keep risk of piling on pounds to minimum . Plus it’s depressing to be on total rest & ill , with no treats :/ so maybe encouragement tabs..Version: 9.3.2

:)I love the app it’s just very hard with me being coliac as much of the recipes contain gluten and they don’t really cater for coliacs.Version: 12.8.0

Good free app, not worth the premium subscriptionI used the free version of the app for a bit to track my daily eating and thought it would be great to try new recipes, especially whilst on the keto diet. However I was disappointed to find such a limited amount of recipes, especially when a lot of them are so repetitive - specifically 17 ways to cook eggs. For $15 for a single month subscription, I would’ve been able to get an actual recipe book with more options or at least even a meal planning/shopping function. 1 month later and another $15 deducted from my account - I didn’t realise I had to cancel the subscription even though I only bought 1 month. This should be made more clear when purchasing..Version: 9.0.1

Premium not workingRecently the option “same as yesterday” doesn’t work and the stats for the day don’t show..Version: 18.1.0

It’s good but discouragingI’ve had this app for a week now and there is good and bad. I was baited into the $2 a month program and it charged me the whole year which I didn’t know would happen and I’m not happy about that. I wanted to just see what the premium would offer, it does have nice but expensive recipe's. It’s simple to use but has issues when you log items or creating a recipe. The thing though that is most frustrating is the ratings. I have become obsessed with getting my rating high for the day with the smiley face. Today I made a smoothie which each ingredient had the highest rating, after logging it, it said my rating was just okay, slightly imbalanced. I don’t understand since the fruits I added were the highest rated! If you don’t have the exact amount of everything below your goal then it immanently says the food or meal is bad. My life score also went down too even though I’ve been eating good food. The day ratings are really all over the place and not accurate in my opinion. I’m trying so hard to loose weight and really eat better but I feel so discouraged when using this app at times, since I feel like I have no progress. Another note is that if you don’t eat a lot in the day it gives you a bad rating too. So eat but don’t eat? I don’t know, it’s an okay app for just logging calories but the smiley faces will get to you and make you not want to eat just about anything..Version: 14.8

Accuracy issues, inconvenience, beautiful designFrom the pluses, it’s probably the most beautiful app I’ve seen, especially love the icon. Also, I loved how it immediately set up a calorie goal for me and it has some nice features like seafood and veggie counters. However, there are some bummers… it exports data to Health app incorrectly. Namely, I entered 27 calories in Lifesum once. But it transferred this amount twice, which resulted in an overestimated calorie count on the Health app. Moving on, some “verified” foods have wrong calorie data (see brown sugar). Next, in “recent” tab in Diary, it doesn’t save all recent entries, at first it didn’t save anything at all, which I believe MyFitnessPal does, so moving from that app felt inconvenient. Most of these issues directly affect the accuracy of my data which should be the priority of any calorie counter app..Version: 17.7.0

Meal plans impracticalJust downloaded this today and got a premium subscription for 3 mos. Haven’t been able to do much but most of the features seem nice! I like that it tells you how good certain foods or meals are for you and tracks how “on track” you are. It puts it a step ahead of most other trackers I’ve seen. A feature I was really excited for with the subscription but disappointed by is the meal plan. It seems to be a new feature so I don’t want to give up on it yet, but there are almost no customization options, as far as I can tell, of how many unique meals you want per week, changing measuring units (what does a “standard serving” of blueberries or chicken constitute as?), or how many servings you want of each meal. Right now it just offers you 4 unique meals every day and expects you to wrap your head around purchasing ingredients, prepping, cooking and storing 28 unique meals every single week. I like to keep things simple. I eat 1 kind of lunch and alternate between 2 different dinners all week. I also skip breakfast, which would be a nice thing to have as an option for meal planning. My boyfriend and I live together and like to cook and eat together. His calorie need is greater than mine, so being able to add 2 extra servings of a dinner to a grocery list would take a lot of the headache out of figuring out what we need to get. For now, I think I’ll stick with adapting recipes from other plans and coming up with my own meal plans..Version: 9.0.4

Not quite as extensive as I hopedWish I hadn’t paid for the premium subscriptions. Basically it’s a good tracking app. Being called Lifesum I was kind of hoping it tracks your overall well-being a bit better including mental, sleep, exercise etc. the exercise tracking feature seems like an afterthought. While you can sync Apple Watch/ health app, it records the entries twice - once from the workout record and once from the active minutes. Every time you delete one, it just appears again and even records it triple..Version: 10.0.6

Disappointed in PremiumI’m mostly feeling let down by this app. I used the free version for about two weeks before deciding that I wanted to use the premium version to gain more insight about eating healthy. Two more weeks of using the premium version and not only is the app not tracking the food I enter in correctly (I had tacos and entered in precise measurements of each ingredient and the app totaled it up to almost three times as many calories) but the promised insights are things like “eat more vegetables.” It consistently gives me incorrect totals of calories (sometimes by thousands!) and customizing options are extremely limited. I can’t even customize my amount of water intake, which I feel is a pretty minor feature to include. I drink from a 25oz cup during the day, but my options are 8oz or 16oz, nothing else. The app tells me I consume too much sodium and not enough fat, but gives me no clue how to include more healthy fats in my diet. I feel like I spent $50 for literally nothing. And I did submit a complaint about not being able to track a meal due to the miscalculation of calories about 15 hours ago and I haven’t heard anything. Normally I wouldn’t write a review like this, but the paid version of this app is just not nearly worth it..Version: 16.14.0

Please fix this or I’ll have to cancel premiumThe app works well except for the fact that some barcodes connect to items with wrong nutritional information (e.g., the calories and protein are incorrect). The “edit” option does not work as I cannot save the correct information without getting an error message reading “the calorie information doesn’t seem to be right.” There is an option to manually enter and submit correct nutritional information however, the results are not instant and you have to track incorrect information that day. It is frustrating because the whole point of this app is to accurately track nutritional intake but it won’t let me..Version: 17.7.0

Terrible customer service.Although the app itself could be great and looks great. I have felt cheated by the company and customer service. Very quick to make money out of a bad situation. In September 2019, my google phone broke and I had it replaced with an Apple. I had forgotten I had this app and was unaware the subscription would still run with google, as I hadn’t received any emails, hence not having a google email set up on new phone. When logging on to a google account on my laptop I noticed 3 payments I hadn’t authorised. I contacted google and google said it was down to this company. I explained my situation to google and they said to contact Lifesum, explain what has happened and they will hopefully refund as a good will, due to me not having had access to this app. The customer service agent over looked my emails, ignored what I had asked them to look into, would not accept it as a complaint and passed it back to being Google’s responsibility. No offer of any refund or even an offer to use the app for free to make up for loss of service. Thank you Lifesum for your help 😊.Version: 10.3.1

Х*ітаБезплатна версія зависає і не грузиться, не допомагає перезагрузка, сервери походу в жопі світу!!!.Version: 17.0.0

Favourite Features GoneI used to love this app but some of my favourite features (such as milestones, weight loss goals per week) have been removed with the new update. Additionally, the app has many glitches which make it even more frustrating to use. I would not recommend purchasing the premium membership for this app at this time..Version: 8.6.3

Lots of room for improvementI chose Lifesum because it’s well-rated on blogs, but it’s got some work to do. The search function doesn’t bring always up great results. Many of the ‘verified’ foods are incorrect, which to me is a failing of the foundations of the app. To add to that frustration, these incorrect foods are linked to barcodes, which prevents linking a barcode when adding the correct information. Personally added meals/recipes/foods are hidden under ‘progress’ which is not intuitive or quick to access. The app does have some great food plan and diet options, but if you’re someone who cooks a lot and is more concerned about accuracy and ease of use than having diet and nutrition guidance, this may not be the app for you..Version: 16.9.0

Be carefulBe careful subscribing to this app! I ended up getting charged far more than the special discounted rate. I want my money back and haven't even confirmed my account.Version: 17.0.0

It’s okayThere are quite a few glitches. It wasn’t obvious that not all the plans will show up depending on your dietary preferences. I ended up removing all my settings so I could see all the plans available and adjust the recipes to vegetarian if needed. And sometimes it’s not clear what the serving size is for a recipe. I’ve also noticed that some of the caloric info is wrong on scanned barcodes But otherwise it’s good for getting back on track! Not bad.Version: 16.12.0

Couldn’t even get through basicsI downloaded the app and I was putting in the number for my weight, but it skipped to the next step once I put in 1 digit. I would got in to put the second digit and it wouldn’t accept it as a number, preventing me from moving forward. I redownloaded the app twice and had the same problem. A shame bc I’ve heard really good things, but I can’t even get through the first step..Version: 9.1.1

Good but won't syncThis app is good on the iphone, although the Apple watch app does not sync with the iPhone app at all. I have KJ enabled on the iphone app but it's showing kcal on the watch app. The burned, eaten and remaining all are not up to date with the iPhone app even after restarting the watch, the phone and the app. Even worse is that the Apple watch app and the Apple watch face nutrients display don't even sync. Apparently this has been an issue for a long time and still hasn't been fixed. I would consider going premium if only it would sync..Version: 9.0.4

Not GreatI bought the premium version because I thought it would be friendlier and more helpful than apps like myfitnesspal. Its not very smart, it doesn’t have a lot of foods in its database, and the recipes provided are few and not impressive. There’s no way to find easy meals, it seems to be time consuming and not super appetizing. For example, a suggested recipe to me was a tomato and buttermilk shake?? While that might not be hard to make, it sounds disgusting. Most of these recipes seem to be more about looks and “instagram” quality than nutrition and simplicity, which is what most people loom to food trackers for. In the app’s attempt to be more millenial-geared and well-rounded, they made a complicated app with a few flashy features (choosing your type of diet, taking a picture of your food to log it-which didn’t work when I tried-, and recipes-which have limited options and seem complicated). I wish they offered a trial of the premium but I understand why they don’t because I definitely wouldn’t have bought premium if I knew that not much would change, and the additional features are less than satisfactory. I absolutely regret purchasing this..Version: 9.0.8

Nice but not overly Keto friendlyI love the design, but it’s not as good as I expected it to be. After playing with the free version (healthy eating) for a while, I upgraded to a yearly premium subscription to be able to access the advertised KETO diet plan/parameters. Unfortunately, I could only find 2-3 recipes per meal specific to keto diet (big disappointment)! I didn’t want to give up, so I started manually adding recipes from Pinterest or keto meal plans off the Internet (yes, you need to type them in ingredient by ingredient and step by step, no import function available). As I was uploading recipes and ingredients, the app would flag some of them as not suitable or too high in carbs, much to my surprise and confusion. A tb spoon EVO is supposed to be good for you when you are on a keto diet, right? And blueberries are allowed, I thought? I will keep trying for a couple of days to see if I am using it wrong, then maybe cancel it for a keto-specific one I found online. Other things that would be great, but are NOT there; - meal suggestions based on what you had during the day for balance - intermittent fasting tracker Hope this helps!.Version: 8.8.1

New user- EditedI just started using this app, trying to really kick off my dieting. I like organization when I diet and i just wish you could more closely edit your planner from day to day. How it is set up now- you have to scroll through all of the days and once you finish one day you have to scroll alllllll the way back down to the next day. Also, not sure if it’s just a diet they are trying to promote, but no matter what answers I choose when taking the quiz I always get the Keto Burn. I don’t necessarily have a problem with this diet, I just would like to see what other diets I could choose from that would also be recommended. If I am just overlooking how to do this please let me know! Other than these two things I am very impressed with the app and how affordable it is! I have decided to edit my review because after using the app for a couple weeks now I am no longer able to edit my “planner” or my “shopping cart” which is really disappointing because those were the biggest reasons for choosing this dieting app compared to others. I am a working student so I need the organization but I guess with the most recent update they decided to get rid of those features that I loved so much. I am going to cancel my subscription and attempt to get a refund. Back to traditional dieting I go. :(.Version: 9.0.4

A few issuesI have started using Lifesum for the past week to track my food and calories. The list of foods is pretty comprehensive and most foods and brands I use are listed. It's easy to use and setup, though functionality it severely limited without paying extra. I do have a few minor issues though. I'm relatively tall and overweight, but the daily calorie total seems way too high (and I manually reduced it as well during the quiz section). I worked out that the "diet" has me eating more calories than I was on before most days (I admit to bad days, that's why I'm overweight). Maybe you want to review how you calculate these things? Your app consistently tells me I'm undereating, when that's obviously not the case. Also, how does adding a single teaspoon of sugar to my only coffee of the day take my healthy all "smiles" breakfast (savoury rolled oats, spinich and an egg) to a "grumpy" face?.Version: 8.8.2

Getting closerThe app itself is absolutely fantastic. However there are two MAJOR flaws: I would say nearly all of the Lifesum approved nutritional information is wrong. Which is an issue for tracking macros as it can’t be edited even when I have the packaging with the correct information in front of me! It kind of defeats the whole purpose of the tracking and you’ll end up with a million duplicates in your food database as I just make a new item without the barcode whenever something is incorrect. You also can only set your macros via a percentage of your total caloric goal. This means you can’t set your exact goals as they may not be whole percent increments. There should be the ability to type your macro goals in manually to get the exact gram targets..Version: 9.2.4

Taken MoneyWhy are you guys taking money from me when I don’t even have a subscription? I emailed the company as well - still no response. I’m not even logged into the account on my phone because I haven’t used it in that long. I have sent screenshots as proof and I am requesting a refund. This is appalling considering i used this app for a good three years at one point and never had issues..Version: 17.2.0

Needs to be more personalisableThis app tracks protein and you can add your water intake, which are very important to me and the reason why I chose to use this app. I love these two features about it but there are a few problems. They all boil down to: personalisation. There is very little you can change. Yes, you can change the water goal and the calorie goal, along with a couple of others. BUT you cannot increase or decrease your protein goal to what you want, or delete certain aspects of the tracking that you do not want. For example, what would be extremely helpful for me would be to have the option to remove the calorie count. I am about 6kg underweight because of my fast metabolism and so need to eat a lot to keep my weight up. But this thing still tells me I am eating “200 calories over” for breakfast, etc. Even though at the end of the day, it is still under 1800 calories a day which is a CRAZY amount for me personally and what my body needs. If these were changed so there was more personalisation, I would love this app and want to buy premium. Also, iron tracking would be outstanding. Not hating on this app, it would be great for other people but to extend the range of people who can use it, a few changes could be made :).Version: 8.8.8

Horrendous User ExperienceFirst of all this app is good at what it does, provides tracking, connects to Apple Health and a whole multitude of features that make it very helpful. Also, the recipe and diet suggestions are really good too, it can really help you pursue new goals especially if you don’t have any ideas of how you are supposed to be eating. Based on what I’ve said I’d rate this app five stars. However, the user experience is horrendous. I find the user interface to be tricky to navigate, buggy and annoying. If you scan a barcode and it brings up the incorrect item it’s such a pain to sort out. Last year they updated the app with a brand new look and I thought they’d finally fixed it. Nope, same crap interface with new looks. Please can they hire or consult someone to fix this experience. If you’re consuming less calories and a little hangry you can very little patience for this app..Version: 16.6.0

SucksThis app sucks don’t get it when you put in how much you Way it doesn’t work properly. This app sucks so don’t get it.Version: 10.1.1

Keto dietI want an app that’s completely free. I’m already going to be buy groceries and switching up I don’t want to pay 64$ for you to give me tips for the keto diet. The keto diet is not good for people. It isn’t. It’s meant for one body type. This diet would never have worked for me if anything it would’ve made me more underweight and unhealthy..Version: 8.11.3

Could be betterThe app has a great beautifully design and fun calories tracker. However, beyond that it has nothing that really want to convinced me enough to covert into its paying premium user. It has some nice premium features, but not something that I’d really need or miss out on if I don’t pay. I’d love to pay but the app needed something more than that. Something that really enhance my fitness and health life. The developer need to focus more on the user needs instead of developing unnecessary features. I see that the recipe and meal recommendation feature is nice, BUT it is not up to my Asian taste. This app might be more suitable for western audience. I may have to find another app that better suited my ethnicity taste. If you want to go global you need to also consider your international customer and their taste. I recommend adding more separate recipe and meal to suit each difference ethnic group and taste..Version: 8.8.1

Pretty, but all the features require premium upgradeSo far I like the layout and the user friendly nature of this app. It’s easy to use and it has a nice aesthetic. The versatility of this app separates it from other fitness apps. However I wish it was more clear on which features come with the free version and which features are premium. I understand that the developer is trying to encourage people to upgrade (the price seems reasonable) but I’ve realized that almost all of the features listed in the description are premium features. I wish I had been told upfront what I can do in the free version rather than having a popup telling me I’ve encountered a premium feature as I’m touring the app. As many of the highlights of the app are premium features (barcode scanning, almost all the diet plans, the custom recipes, etc) the app does nothing beyond track calories in its free version and I have no way of knowing if the extra features are worth the money (and reading some of the reviews convince me that the extra features don’t run as well as I would like for a paid service). I’ll stick to my fitness pal..Version: 8.9.0

Well designed app, but missing some obvious featuresIt’s a great looking app, with a much more accurate database of foods than MyFitnessPal (for now) but is missing some obvious features that have been requested for years on their UserVoice website: 1. Customise number of meals per day; 2. Customise macro targets per meal (small breakfast, larger post-workout lunch/dinner, etc); 3. Customisable macro goals per day (reduced ok rest days, higher ok workout days). It’s the best app available at the moment, but there’s definitely areas for improvement, especially when these sort of features aren’t that difficult to implement..Version: 9.2.4

Can’t set daily caloriesYou can’t choose your daily calorie allowance without the premium membership lol, it locks it on 1944 calories per day. Can’t even try the most basic parts of a calorie tracking app before deciding if you want a membership? Strange and the first calorie counting app I’ve seen that does this.Version: 17.1.0

Support unavailableLoved the interface of this app and found it easy to navigate my way around pretty easily when I did use it. The one star rating is due to my recent experience today. I have tried several times now to contact support through the Contact Us (in app chat) link and it continues to crash. The app is updated to the most recent version and so is the software on my phone. Have tried to resend the message several times and the app keeps crashing. I want to cancel my subscription and plan on deleting the app TODAY. I purchased the Premium version of the app about a year ago at a discounted rate during a promo offer they had at the time. They seem to have it set it up where you subscribe to their Premium services outside of iTunes so the subscription is actually processed through their own website. Renewal dates or expiration dates of said Premium services are nowhere to be found anywhere in the app. They then attempt to auto renew it later on at almost $50 USD with no communication beforehand via email or otherwise that they will be processing this amount. I did not even locate the option to downgrade my account or cancel anywhere within the Settings option within the Lifesum app. Luckily my bank caught the attempted transactions as fraud and did not allow them through. I’ll stick to apps that allow me to manage my subscriptions within iTunes to avoid headaches like this..Version: 10.0.7

Interface Design and Glitches Hamper ExperienceI love this app and it’s helped me get into the habit of tracking my meals, but every once in a while a poor design choice or glitch really hampers the experience. For instance: creating a food, meal, or recipe pulls up a menu from the bottom of the screen that can be closed by swiping down at any point in the multi-menu process, which erases all work in creating the food/meal/recipe. I’ve had the re-do data entry for items multiple times due to my instinct to swipe down to get rid of the keyboard, which could be easily solved by a simple “are you sure you want to delete your progress?” dialogue. A glitch I encounter often is the date of a meal I’m entering items into switching to the current date. Know what you’re having for dinner tomorrow, or want to back-log items you didn’t have time for yesterday? You may suddenly, unknowingly be entering items into today’s log. Paired with the inability to move items between dates and meals (which would be an excellent feature), this can be a real pain and result in a lot of re-doing..Version: 12.11.0

Will Not Sync with Apple Health AppI really like this app a lot. It’s very nice looking and motivating. I have been a paid subscriber for about 4 years now but am thinking that I might not be renewing this year. I’m not sure if the problem is with the Lifesum app or the Apple Health app, but the nutrition data will just not sync properly from Lifesum to the Health app. I am using the Health app to aggregate all of my health data which syncs properly from my sleep app, glucose app, exercise apps, etc., but not my diet/nutrition app which I consider to be essential for getting a complete health picture. I contacted the developer about this issue but was just told that they were working on it and informed as to how to get a refund and cancel my subscription. That was definitely not the answer I was looking for but may just take them up on it. What I really wanted to hear was a timeframe for getting this right. What I got from the response was that it wasn’t really a priority for them. I would like to know whether it is or not because if it is and they are expecting a breakthrough in the near future I would definitely stick with the app..Version: 8.8.8

Annoying bugHi, would really like this bug that keeps placing me back to “today” every time I am on a different date into my diary. I like updating my images at a later date when I get a chance to do it or add foods the day before but every time I reference to a different I.e. Photos app for photos of my food, it add to todays date instead of say, two days ago!! It’s incredibly irritating that all of my food items are incorrectly done! Ugh, and I absolutely hate having to redo the items again! I love this app but until you get this fixed I’m just not sure how to manage using this inconvenience. Also, I would really love to add multiple images on each category of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack! A view options of images to see what I’ve eaten for the week would be helpful!!.Version: 14.9.1

Almost perfectSome way of logging supplements / vitamins, and synchronising with Flo would honestly make it the perfect app. Beautiful interface, fun little recipes, and would easily be five stars if it logged exercise and water as simply as everything else. I love the syncs from health and runkeeper but every time I open the app, my logged exercise disappears. Every time. And every day. It even wipes retroactively. I can input it as many times as I want, it either disappears immediately or the activity stays on there but doesn’t show the calories on my day. So when I try to keep track of my calorie burn over the course of a week, I can’t. Water tracking I’ve just given up on. App support led me to a dead end so I really hope it’s just a bug because it’s incredibly frustrating, especially as I’m paying for premium!.Version: 10.0.5

It’s just okAt first I thought this was great. Now, more things annoy me. The recipes seem to be all with tofu. There’s no option to eliminate dislikes like tofu from the recipes it shows. Some of the scanned barcodes are wrong and it will not let me edit the info saying that I’m wrong ( looking right at the package). Impossible to contact support as it simply will not send. Tho I wasn’t able to attach anything either so it was pointless anyway. Oh and chat doesn’t work. Won’t even connect. Regretting this subscription..Version: 17.2.0

Many errors in the food databaseThis has a beautiful Interface, super easy to use. However I really have many issues with their nutritional content, so if you’re needing this for something like diabetes where you’re doing insulin to carb ratio’s, or specific dietary needs gastroparesis, reduced fat things, I don’t think I would recommend it. There are many times where I will scan an item in and what presents on the screen is not what is on the label it’s really strange. There are other things were a number of carbs the serving size whatever or just incorrect. Not just of labeled items but regular things like banana whatever. Anyway it doesn’t work all that well when you don’t have exactly the serving size and even then a lot of the time it’s just not right. If you don’t need that level of detail it’s very easy to use and adds everything up for the day for the meal. They only offer one snack per day so if you have three small meals three small snacks, you just have to lump all your snacks into one snack. So if you’re looking at your finger across the day it’s a little in accurate. If it were only that I would recommend it, but there are too many other issues for me.Version: 10.4.0

Good but kinda glitchyReally good app however, sometimes it over calculates my calories. So Ill enter the correct calories as for example frozen berries 40g for 20kcal but then it would say 40kcal in the app and throw me over my calorie count. I had to reinstall it for it to recalculate it correctly. I’m not sure if that makes sense but it’s very frustrating..Version: 9.1.0

Needs to expand to overall nutrition and improve appI was surprised to find after I signed up that the daily nutritional information is very basic. It doesn’t provide any indication about whether you’ve consumed the correct amount of fibre, sodium, fat type or sugar, which would be so easy to add. It only focuses on energy, carbs, protein and fat. I’m also surprised that the food database is very cumbersome. Barcodes attached to wrong items with wrong volumes and nutritional information. I can’t find how to add a food in the iPhone app. Actually I can’t find how to add a missing food at all unless it has a barcode. When you add a food yourself on iPad it doesn’t appear, but instead you have to search again to see it has been added. The only thing this app has going for it over its competition is the adjustment of meal plan (focussing on the 4 key elements), as well as the recipes (which I’m less interested in). It’s also a bit buggy, with elements on iPad disappearing off the screen and camera orientation not changing properly. I hope it improves because it’s a good premise, but lacking maturity. I’m just starting out with this app..Version: 10.3.8

Lots of potential but some glaring shortfallsLots to like about this app (covered elsewhere) but a few glaring shortfalls that folks should be aware of before subscribing. 1. First of meals are limited to 4 per day (three regular and one “snack”). Those on training programs that might have a morning, evening or afternoon snack and wish to track as individual meals - this app won’t work for you. seems to be a relatively simple software tweak to allow users to configure number of meals etc… But if you are ok with consolidating all “outside of meal” meals into one snack, this could work. 2. More seriously - exercise workout data IS NOT IMPORTED from apple products (only steps) so for those who track activity / workouts using your iwatch, this absolutely won’t work. It seems to be focused on partnering with the Fitbit ecosystem with runkeeper as an option for those who are runners. But resistance training tracked using apple products will find this doesn’t work for them. 3. FOR ALL USERS - Not sure why the software crazies insist on defaulting calorie adjustment for activity. This means that unless you turn off this setting the tracker will encourage more eating to offset your activity. I guess it will preserve a simple colour deficits but for those who may increase activity as the primary means to create a calourie deficit will have their efforts completely offset by folllowing advice. I would fire the software guy who thought this was a smart default setting. I would really love to use this to consolidate several apps but as an iwatch user that uses weight training and activity as the primary way to create a calourie deficit, you can see why this app needs tweaking. That said, there is A LOT of great things about it, which is why I haven’t deleted and continue to watch to hopefully see the tweaks necessary to work for me..Version: 16.13.0

Doesn’t approveIt asks for the weight and I putted 40kg they said that was an error. Fix that.Version: 8.6.7

To simple and a lot of bugsFrom time to time some data is not synchronized. I've added in the app that I eat a total of 1500 calories and only a few entries appear in Apple Health giving a total of 400. It's not something that happened once or twice, but several times a week, I'd say 40% of the days are incorrect. And I find the app very simple and lacking in functionality. The diets are pretty useless and uninteresting and in general nothing seems to work very well. I've already canceled my subscription.Version: 17.4.0

DjsjsksI Hate IT SO MUCH IT DOESNT EVEN LET ME PUT IT MY WEIGHT UT JUST SAYS OOP?-?-?- ARE U SURE RHATS WHAT U MEANT IM SO CHEEZED DONT SOWNLOAD.Version: 10.2.0

Have used for years but easy fixes still unimplementedLife Sum is a decent app. It’s edge for me at least is that it supports UK products a lot better than much of the competition. However I have had the same bug for almost 18 months now and despite reporting it, it is still unaddressed. When on a daily view, once the (useless) day rating card appears you are no longer able to scroll down. This means often I literally can’t log my dinner. twice I have reported this, gone through the support route and twice they have just stopped relying to me. I even showed a video last time. I had paid a year subscription previously but that has lapsed. I won’t be paying again until this is fixed. The recipes and stuff are pointless fluff, the app is a calorie tracker. The only thing I am lacking as a non premium customer is custom meals. I am happy to lay even for just that as I appreciate devs need to be paid but please for the love of god fix this bug! SIMPLE FIX: Put a cross on these cards to dismiss. Even better have the option to turn them off entirely. They serve no purpose and break the app..Version: 14.11.0

MehI like what Lifesum are trying to do however, the app and web experience is very buggy. The sync between the two does not work well, meaning entries get lost or duplicate. I trialled premium but it didn't add much to my experience so I cancelled a few days later on the website but I was still charged as it hadn't recognised the cancellation. Frustrating. A feature that would be useful would be switching between focus on calories or carbs in the free version. I’m not asking for the meal plans to be available but I purchased premium for a while and now that I am back on the free version it is stuck on a low carb plan. Also - the ability to easily add meals made up of groups of ingredients and your own recipes would be useful..Version: 11.5.0

PITAOpen the app and have it push some new ridiculous diet in your face every day. Clumsy app. Will not renew..Version: 16.8.0

Dwindling QualityWhile “dramatic background music” might be essential for some, it’s inconsequential for me. I’d much rather see updates address functionality, like being able to update previous days’ information without meals missing or constantly switching back to the present day in the middle of typing. Tracking every single calorie is already a chore. Your app makes it even more of a burden because of its unreliability. What a shame. Please focus on function over form. You surely charge a premium. What’s all that money going towards? Meal icons?.Version: 17.5.0

Constant marketing emails and notifications nighmareUsed this app for years and loved every bit of it, but now it’s a hot mess and garbage. Tons of bugs in the App, there are no options to set notification preferences, you’ll receive tons of random notifications all at once, there’s no way to unsubscribe their marketing emails, when you click unsubscribe it takes you to their homescreen and nothing happens and you’ll still keep receiving emails, the one and only way you can unsubscribe is by sending a message to their support team and wait for their response. This is extremely anti consumer behavior and I’ve never seen an app in which you can’t set your notifications and email preferences or opt out. Update: You mentioned in your response about updating notification settings in the app but that’s just for reminders like weight, snack, dinner etc and nothing else and there’s no way to turn them off and there’s no way to turn off those unnecessary marketing notifications tho. So your response is false.Version: 17.7.0

ConfusedSo I’m confused, first off, the units of measurements are either inconsistent or straight up wrong between Kilocalories and Kilojoules, sometimes it does make the correct difference for example when you input the calories you burned when creating custom exercise, which I need to do because my method is more unorthodox, but when I input my intake for a specific meal, it says ‘number kcal’ and then when you go out ‘same number kj’ which is really confusing, it also says i’m ‘on track’ when i’ve eaten far more than i’ve burned which is really confusing (my goal is to lose weight). I just need answers, that’s all. Second of all, I eat wholemeal, half a banana for breakfast, then a veggie burger with nothing else but once again wholemeal for lunch and some light chicken for dinner, and you’re telling me that a nearly 2 hour long workout that burned nearly 900 kcal doesn’t even burn that, either this is harder than I thought or this just doesn’t make sense, if it helps I’m 12, 5’2 and weigh 43kg..Version: 12.0.4

Free version just a calorie counterThis app would be a lot better if there was a one-off payment for unlimited use, or even a one-off payment for each diet. I can’t really afford a subscription. I was excited when I saw you had 5:2 as I have had success with this before, and it was one of the recommended diets when I did the survey, but no, all I get access to is classic plan or something like that. I also can’t put in that I’m breastfeeding, so it doesn’t allow me extra calories for that, and so I always go over. The calories are calculated for each meal, so if I have a bigger breakfast say and a smaller dinner, it says I’ve gone over with breakfast, but I think it should be total daily calories. I still think it’s better to have a bigger breakfast and meals get smaller over the day, but this app does not give me that option. The free version of this app is simply a calorie counter. I can’t even see any recipes without paying a subscription. My free Fitbit app, and numerous other free apps will do all this and more. Sure have extras for a subscription, but I think you need to give the free users a bit more here..Version: 11.4.0

BuggyI liked the app in the beginning because of its look, widgets and stuff, and got subscription but after using for 2 days I found that the app is full of bugs. First of all it doesn’t sync Fat % count, waist counts etc from Apple health, it only syncs with weight and bmi. Secondly the most annoying bug is that the widget and the app itself doesn’t sync properly. It shows one value (kal, protein, fat etc) in the app and shows different value on the widget sometimes (happens like 20-30 times a day, of course I didn’t exactly count but it happens a lot). This bug mostly happens when you worked out and burned calories, it doesn’t always take that into account in the widget but if you open the app and close it then the widget starts to show correct value again. Then if you lock your screen then sometimes (a lot) it goes back to old buggy numbers. This is a very basic test you should have done before releasing an update. Quality control team is not doing their job properly. You are charging people $10 per month (3 months membership) and giving this horrible experience. I might ask for a refund from apple but I just like the look of this app so much. So I’m still confused about asking for refund because I really want to use this app..Version: 11.2.1

Easy to use but not enough infoFun and easy to use with a lot of foods in their database. Sadly it really does not provide enough nutritional information and goes against a lot of info I’ve gotten from Nutritionists. Also it is saying that I need fewer carbs and more protein but then doesn’t actually provide protein heavy/low carb recipes when I search for them. The “meal plan” doesn’t actually give you a plan just slightly tweaks the macros based on your “test”. It isn’t actually suggesting foods at all. It doesn’t show anything about vitamins and minerals. It treats all carbs equally regardless of where they are coming from. Every nutritionist I’ve ever spoken with has also said that most veggies are practically unlimited. Today I ate almost entirely vegetables, lean protein and some watermelon and according to the app I had an unhealthy day because of my carb intake. I also think the meals are way too calorie heavy. Every nutritionist I’ve ever spoken with has said that there should be at least two snacks per day, more if you work out a lot. This app just adds calories to meals instead of offering additional snacks. I believe it helps people lose weight and definitely makes you more aware of what you are putting in your body, but this app does not guide you to a healthy and well balanced diet..Version: 9.3.0

I am obeseI tried to put my weight 188kg and it won’t let me thank you for making me insecure anymore... horrible app.Version: 10.1.2

Beautiful App with Very Basic FunctionalityI have the full edition of the app because I signed up for its monthly plan. After roughly a week of use, I'm dissatisfied because apps with similar capabilities existed 10 years ago, when the concept of calorie monitoring via mobile apps was just gaining popularity. In other words, if you're looking for features from today's technology, this app isn't for you. I'm sure if you dig hard enough, you'll find a free app with possibly better functionality. This program also has a basic timer, which the developer refers to as a fasting clock. Essentially, you start the clock when you begin intermittent fasting and stop it when you conclude the fast. You can perform all of this using the stop watch on your phone. They also emphasise on within-the-app recipes. The recipes are available, albeit in extremely limited quantities. You are better off just Google the recipes yourself. One useful feature of this software is the ability to directly construct a shopping list for each recipe. They require you to pay for at least three months in advance. Even though it's only $15, the trade-off you get from this app isn't worth it..Version: 17.7.0

Don’t even botherI never write reviews, but this app has annoyed me enough to write one. I used this app RELIGIOUSLY back in 2017 and loved it. It’s terrible now. I’m paying for an app that takes 10+ seconds to load once opened (which is irritating when most users need to use the app many times in a day), and even once we’ve made it past the Home Screen we must wait another minute or two for the meals to load so you can view/edit. If you try and quick add the meal from the previous day, it’ll only now add one ingredient rather than the whole meal. It also randomly deletes things? And also the daily ratings don’t even make sense. This app is terrible now, I’m only using it up until my paid time has expired but I’m hating every minute of it. Please whoever is reading this, DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS APP. Not like it used to be :(.Version: 16.10.1

Should come with a trigger warningI wanted to lose weight healthily and keep on top of my physical health however I noticed whenever you go over you calorie limit, an angry face pops up next to it. so picture it, here’s me (a 15 year old girl with a bit of baby fat) crying and angry at myself for eating 4 Oreos which put me calorifically over the limit. Also made me obsessed with working off the food I ate aswell as wanting to be under the calorie count the app provided. Could’ve been mildly prevented/ stopped if they made the recipes they recommended accessible so you don’t have to pay a pricey subscription. (Kinda like telling a cat they can’t eat treats but also not giving them any fish) 1/5 for the damage. Did have nearly every food item you could find in a grocery store tho. 1.5/5.Version: 10.3.8

This app might give you an eating disorderI downloaded this app five years ago because it’s sleek, gamifies water/veggie/fruit tracking, and I thought i could better track my nutritional intake. Last year I wanted to lose a little weight so i splurged and upgraded to the paid version—big mistake. Now i get condescending emojis judging my daily eating habits and irrational rating systems. I warn everyone, this app can easily become dangerous. One example out of 365: today I had a fresh carrot + lentil dish for breakfast, black tea, small salmon poke salad for lunch, HALF a nature well green smoothie as a snack, and hummus, quinoa, falafel dinner. I hiked with my dog for 3 hours in the AM. My rating??? “Off track” with a sad red face emoji subliminally shaming me. The reason? My meals were too low in protein, too high in carbs, and i had 1600 calories instead of their recommended 1395. Are they insane?! I thought this was the most balanced day of eating, with tons of fresh veggies and fruit, I’ve ever had in my life! And humans need more calories than that to sustain themselves especially with the amount of exercise I get. I didn’t sign up for a starvation diet, just ‘better eating’ with more whole foods. Please be careful, especially to women who are already pressured to eat less than they need to sustain a nutritionally balanced diet. ❤️.Version: 16.6.0

GlitchyTrying to maintain calories but no matter how many times my clients and i reset the app, it gives us random calories per/day not the amounts we put in. my clients and i have been using this app for awhile and i used to always recommend it but this bug hasn’t been removed and we are tired of paying for something that doesn’t do the only thing it’s meant to do. the app looks pretty but it’s just lazy and improper. will be taking our business else where..Version: 17.0.0

Functional but Slow and Frustrating to UseThe app does what it says on the tin, but the interface leaves something to be desired. Turning on notifications for what I hoped would be drink and meal reminders - instead unleashed a barrage of irrelevant diet, health and marketing suggestions. The main screen UI is slow and constantly flashes as it refreshes. Opening the app to add water or a meal takes way too long. Every action you take is slow or delayed which makes me think every interaction is sending data to their servers and waiting for a response. I think this app tries to do too much and doesn’t excel at the most important things for me (which are quick and easy food / water intake and tracking)..Version: 14.16.0

Full of BugsI’ve used this app for a couple of years and was happy to pay for premium because a lot of the features were really handy. However it seems with each update the app has gotten worse and worse. I’ve just received an update that logged me out and now upon logging me back in it seems ALL of my custom meals I added in to create easy tracking (which is a great feature) are completely empty. The title of the meal is there but no ingredients or measurements. Plus now it just won’t let me track anything. I’ve been trying to add my calories in all day and refreshed the app multiple times, still nothing actually tracks no matter how many times I add it. It looks like I’ve eaten nothing all day. I’ve just paid for another round of premium a few weeks ago and it seems it’s all for nothing as the app won’t even function at its most basic level now. For the price you pay it’s pathetic and unless they get it together I will be taking my money elsewhere and deleting the app after years of loving it and being loyal to it..Version: 17.3.0

Fix your app!I love this app. However, I am not sure what is going on with it right now. The calories & names are all messed up & it’s very discouraging to see that a cup of Oat blenders w/ Honey cereal are supposedly ‘956 calories’, and that a Danamal is 10+ calories than it actually is. I shouldn’t have to find the exact calorie amount by doing math. The entire point of your app is as an easy way to track your diet, weight, progress, etc. What’s the point if you can’t even properly add up the total calorie intake?? Fix your app. edit: (I have been reporting incorrect calories & names, and the app is incorrectly adding up my calories per meal. I set my intake to 1,400 but it says I can eat: 747 calories for snack, 546 calories for my dinner, 560 for my lunch, and 402 calories for my breakfast. This makes absolutely no sense. The calories add would add up to 2,255 if I ate up to all of the ‘recommended’ amounts while I actually ate 893/1,400 for that day. It doesn’t make sense. The calories I actually ate shows the correct amount (893), while the individual meals add up to an amount higher than my average intake????).Version: 10.3.7

:(I'm so upset that I've been charge with a $40 subscription when I haven't signed up for one. I downloaded your app and happily used the free vision for a short period of time before it became a back ground app. I have since deleted it when I cleaned out my apps, and I come today to see that I've been charged for the apps subscription. I have no receipt in my emails of purchasing this either. I'm requesting a refund, but as it is still pending I have no choice to wait before inquiring. Good app, but I really am annoyed over this situation..Version: 9.3.0

Not too sure anymore.I’ve had this app for 4 days and I loved it! especially the day ratings that’s basically what has been keeping me on track and today I go to look at the day rating and it’s locked?! I’ve got to pay for a subscription for that now even though 3 days ago I didn’t the day rating was really helpful and I’m upset I cant see it anymore considering I’m only young and I’m currently unemployed I don’t have any money to pay for subscription I just don’t get why you had to change it all of a sudden especially considering this app is meant to help people and the day rating was very helpful for me..Version: 11.3.1

Customer feedbackDon’t get much more for paying for this app. It doesn’t know the correct amount of carbs in foods & doesn’t even pick up barcodes & product details accurately. It’s always telling me I’m off track when my keto sticks & weight loss are telling me I’m doing fine! Better off with the free version in my opinion!.Version: 8.10.2

Life is one big subscription.A pretty solid app so far, great design and has some great features. But why are companies always striving for apps that require a subscription? Why not sell the app, then sell add ons to offer additional features? Sorry for taking this out on this app, but we need to stop with this subscription model BS. I’d happily pay $30 plus dollars to own this app outright, then the option to buy diet plans for $5 each would be fair for all I would have thought. Hey, you could even offer a subscription tier for custom coaching or something like that for those who find value in that, but it’s just not right to pay $X per month for the rest of your life. Great app with potential to be better if you’re willing to pay. If you don’t mind paying money for an app for eternity, then you’ll love this app. To the developers, I’m sorry, and I understand you need to feed your family, but how about you do it in a more transparent way..Version: 8.8.0

Good but some updates would make it betterThe interface & information it provides, including the vast amount of foods you can scan is good. I’ve only used the app for a week but here are suggested updates to make it better: - the shopping cart to create your groceries list is available from meal plans but not for recipes from diets. It would be useful to have it in both. - when you add a recipe to your diary it would be good to be able to delete some ingredients e.g. had a bulletproof coffee without the cream, so add the bulletproof coffee ingredients & be able to remove the cream. - ability to add a recipe to a custom meal plan. - in Recipes, have the ability to see/filter your favorite recipes. Similar to how the favorite recipes come up in the Diary when logging food..Version: 9.2.4

Great app, not so great recipesI love this app. It allows me to track my intake guide me through healthy food options. I tried a 30 day premium trial and activated my meal plan. However, the recipes didn’t make sense with the ingredients required. I tried it out and end up tasting so bad that I wouldn’t even go through the the meal plan. Online recipes similar did it well. Not worth the money, I’ll only keep it as a tracker..Version: 8.8.1

Buggy UIThe UI for this app needs a serious overhaul. The control buttons overlap the iPhone 14 Max Pro top bar so things like the back button are unusable. The app is also incredibly slow when selecting items. The touch responses are extremely poor. Like so many apps of this ilk, if you’re outside North America you’re probably going to struggle to match the food you’re eating. You’re also unlikely to be able to correctly track your food. It’s just too difficult to find something that matches. I’d hoped selecting a diet would suggest meals that are easy to prepare. No such luck. Most of the recipes involve a lot of ingredients not likely to be on hand. In conclusion it’s a lot of hard work to try and use the app..Version: 16.4.0

Really inaccurateI am giving this platform theee stars for style and plug and play ease of use. But I am having to fact check almost every food because the portions are really strange. They use “1 cup” to refer to everything from 1oz of shredded cheese to 4 oz of yogurt etc. - none of which is an actual cup measure. And there are no “laymen’s measurements” for food, such as 12 grapes etc. it’s all by weight which is supposed to be more accurate…if only that were so lol. What is “standard serving” of lettuce? How about you tell us a leaf or a cup chopped? Who weighs their lettuce? I end up shrugging and guesstimating which isn’t ideal. Just try finding out how many calories a Tb of peanut butter is. Even the “verified” name brand calories are off (I check against the jar right in front of me). I’m on the fence whether to continue with this app. Only use if you are already really familiar with calories and can use your own judgement. Pretty platform though, and I like the health assessments of each food (green/yellow/orange) and the weekly health assessment. Recipes are good. Exercise calories burned also feels pretty true. Way better “vibe” than the other popular free site. Please start assessing your database guys, I really want to stick with you..Version: 16.11.0

ProblematicI think it’s probably great if you’re doing ‘clean eating’ or paleo, but it’s not so good for just dieting, even though it purports to be. It rates foods, according to nutrients, and gives you a smiley or frowny face. If you select Mediterranean diet, you get bad ratings for olive oil, and pasta (hilariously, I got a frowny face for nice unsaturated fat olive oil, and told to eat more unsaturated fat for the same meal). On normal dieting, foods like wholemeal pitta breads get frowny faces because they are ‘processed’, but that’s the only thing in the con column of the rating, and there’s three positives in the pro column. Fruit often gets a bad rating for being high in natural sugar, despite the fact that health professionals recommend fruit. All the app recipes are faddy or ‘clean’ or paleo focussed - low carb, or using only coconut oils and fats instead of other healthy oils like EVOO or rapeseed. I feel like this app is potentially triggering for people with tendencies towards something like orthorexia. Edit: the developer has responded, but it is not relevant as I’m not referring to the meal ratings but the food ratings, and they haven’t addressed how these are clearly aimed at particular types of dieting, and you can’t turn them off (you can turn off meal rating)..Version: 12.8.0

App is just ok.This app is ok for tracking. However, when you go to enter the food choices several different versions of that food pop up all with caloric differences for the same food. I weigh my foods, & I see different caloric amounts for the weights of the same food. For example, Red grapefruit will have a few different choices to select from but no matter the ounces, the calories will slightly differ 30-50 cals. I don’t understand this & it can be very frustrating. & makes me feel as though my efforts are not always accurate & ultimately a wasteful purchase. The app has a nice design but could be better. Another feature that is annoying is if you want to review past food logs, & u leave the app open & go to do something else on your phone if you click back to the app it will reset to you viewing the food log of the current day. Which if you had to scroll back 8 days, you’d have to scroll back 8 days again even if you just go to do something else even though the app is open which again is annoying & there should be a better way to compare past to future logs. The app does have nice recipes thought too. Im not sure I’ll be renewing it, I might look for another food log app before my subscription is up..Version: 12.7.1

Great program; glitchy appGenerally a very good app. The design is clean and it’s pretty simple to use. The guidelines about how much to eat and how the nutrients should be balances are extremely useful and have gotten me to reassess my eating habits. But it’s glitchy in annoying ways that would make it easier to use. It offers an option to automatically import data from FitBit and other devices, but I’ve found the information it brings in is wildly inaccurate. Like it would reflect 150 calories burned for an exercise when the actual total was 600+. So I’ve found it’s easier and more accurate to manually enter exercise information. The app also will offer to automatically track the same meal you ate the day before, but when you click on it, it doesn’t actually track the information. So you have to manually enter all the foods and ingredients again to track them. The app also will occasionally prompt me to start an intermittent fasting schedule — which I’m already on. So I’ll essentially have to reset those settings again and again instead of switching the timer on and off between intervals like I’m supposed to. And sometimes things won’t be that responsive and I have to restart the app. It’s a good app, but these small problems really interfere and make it harder to use than it should be. If the developers don’t fix these problems , I won’t renew my subscription..Version: 17.7.0

Not sure so farI’ve only been using this app for a few days and it’s been pretty correct with my food diary. The only problem I’m finding is the “premium” pack. I know it’s a way for the company to make their money and this review probably won’t change anything but, I don’t earn enough to afford it as I’m in school and work part time, making people pay money just so they can loose weight is a bit annoying. Yes yes everyone reading this will say “oh well you should just loose weight on your own” or “don’t bother” but for some people like myself I find it hard to loose weight and find the motivation to keep going. Apps like these could save a life if only it were a bit more flexible with what non-members can access. I hope they are able to give more of a guid for non-members..Version: 10.0.1

Good - Needs To Be More RegulatedThe interface of this app is great, there is little I would change about its functionality. I’ve been using it since late December and recently switched to premium a couple weeks ago. While I don’t regret going premium because of all the additional features, this app is far from perfect. My main complaint is that the entries could stand to be more consistently regulated across the board. Often times I’ll see multiple entries for the same product, all different from one another, yet still all somehow verified by Lifesum with the blue tick. Sometimes the difference in nutrition info between these listings has to do with how the person entered in the serving size, but other times all the nutritional information is out of whack on two or more listings of what is allegedly the same product. This kind of negates the convenience of being able to just quickly search up a food and add it to your diary. I end up adding most of my food manually in order to be sure my entry is accurate. Even when I scan barcodes, I double check the entered nutritional info with the info on the label. All in all, unless this changes and the info on the app becomes more reliable, I’ll probably try another similar app when my membership is up, maybe MyFitnessPal..Version: 10.3.0

Not happyReally upset that I subscribed expecting to pay a small monthly payment of $7 a month but it came out all at once, I had not known this and began to use the app, now I’m told I can’t receive a refund at all. Thanks guys.Version: 12.11.0

Less features over timeI remember when Life Sum first came out. It was a really good app with lots of free to use features and only the meal plans were locked behind a pay wall. So the average user would be able to track their food and exercise, get feedback with ratings, and receive ways to improve their ratings after taking the health quiz all for free. Over time, more and more features that were once free to users have been locked behind paywalls or removed altogether. First it started with the meal ratings, and now it’s moved to recommendations on improving health scores. It’s clear to me now that Life Sun wanted to attract users to fill in their food catalog for free and as they gained more users and filled out their catalog with user-generated items, they are now locking everything behind expensive subscriptions for a database that their users helped to generate. TL;DR : don’t download this app and just use an app like Chronometer that hasn’t locked every initially free feature behind a paywall. This app used to be great but will now charge you for every little feature..Version: 16.11.0

Needs major improvementIf you are looking for a calorie tracking app please consider this review if you DO NOT want to feel guilty about what you eat. A few pros of this app: very nice user interface and the best of any calorie tracking app, has dark mode (which is a MUST for me when using any app), easy to scan food to add. Connects activity from your watch. Cons: a lot of “good” food has “bad” labels, for example on the app it says avocado and lettuce are bad for containing natural sugar. My wholemeal organic pitta bread and wholemeal pasta are labelled as bad because they’re processed. Like what?? I didn’t even chose the option for the paleo diet. That has made me cancel my subscription and unless that is sorted out I will not be renewing it. It also gives you a “life score” so any of the things such as eating fruit and veg that contain natural sugar (according to science, all of them contain sugar) or healthy processed food will bring it down (the higher the score the “better” the app considers your eating habits). The database is VERY limited compared to other calorie tracking apps. Plus a lot of the nutritional data is inaccurate even when scanning the barcode of food. You can’t adjust the amount of calories you want to eat which is a big no-no for me. It’s pre-set. I eat many healthy foods (such as lettuce) which are low in calories but help keep me full for long but according to the app I still need to eat more… not good for eating healthy.Version: 14.4.0

Like but want to love itI’ve used this app on and off for a few years now. The latest update has a lovely aesthetic and I do feel it has helped me understand nutrition better and how much I need to eat to stay heathy and energized. There are a few things that I really wish were different. 1. The most frustrating part of this app is when I eat a recipe that is listed under my chosen “diet plan” and I get a feedback that this wasn't the best choose or I should “eat more”. 2. Not listing the ingredients of verified meals. It would be great if you could simply modify these meals to make entering meals more easy. It’s quite a pain to enter info if you don’t eat a Lifesum recipe. For example, tonight I ate a shrimp salad that I made up from ingredients I just had in my fridge. There was a verified “shrimp salad” in Lifesum database but no info as to what exactly is in this salad. How great if I could see ingredients and add/remove ingredients from this salad. I would also love to see meal/food suggestions if I’m behind on my daily goal. Like suggesting just adding a banana to my breakfast would get me back on track. 3. I wish serving size of recipes could be changed. 4 servings is great for shopping but if you’re preparing a meal just for yourself it’s just an annoying extra step to figure out portions. Would love if user could determine the serving size they wanted. I do like this app and I never write reviews but want to love this app so much that I felt a need to write one..Version: 16.4.0

Shopping list is uselessI really love this app except the shopping list function is not good. You can add all items needed from meals in a diet plan but rather than list the overall quantity for the ingredient, it lists all the instances it is required and quantity. For example - if 3 recipes call for 1 cup of flour each, the flour needed should say “3 cups” but it will instead say “1 cup of flour” then further down the list it will say “1 cup of flour” - it’s not even alphabetical! It’s so difficult to shop with and I am very disappointed I could not trial the subscription service and had to pay upfront just to find out the function I wanted does not work. I have cancelled my sub and hope the shopping list feature is fixed because otherwise there’s no difference between free and paid..Version: 12.1.0

Monthly subscriptionsI love this app so much. I’ve used it on an off for awhile now. I’ve tried slimming world and Weight Watchers but I still come back to using this app instead. The only reason that I haven’t set it as a full five stars, is that I just wish there was a more accessible way to pay for premium. Not everyone can afford the full 12 months in one go. I certainly cannot afford that. When you click on premium it advertises as a price per month and a price per year but there is no way to select a monthly payment. Three or £4 a month is easily accessible for me and I’m sure for a lot of other people, however I can’t afford to pay £33 in one go, would be absolutely amazing if you could think of your customers who maybe struggle with money a little bit and offer is a way that we can also have premium by offering a monthly payment choice.Version: 12.1.1
