TouchOSC Mk1 for Positive User Reviews

Truly amazing piece of softwareSeems that pc users are getting a raw deal with this one. if you have a mac, however, this is a dream app for making music, took me a day to learn how to set up and design my own control templates and now im wirelessly controlling synths fx and drums from reason without a hitch, and i can customise all the interface to exactly how i want it. thankyou hexler..Version: 1.6.3

Long time userI discovered TouchOSC a few years ago and it was a great idea with all kind of smart tablets and phones out there. I am mainly a Cubase user and tried to program this for a long time until I finally understood how it works (well, maybe 90%). I was able to make a Cubase template that is close to a hardware based surface control costing $600 and above. My template is on Steinberg’s forum site for you to check it out. Some very high end sample library companies even provide templates to be used with their software in Kontakt like Chris Heins Violins. That shows you the capabilities. Like other users here, I would like to see some visual improvements and expanded manual and some good examples. You really need to have a great imagination of what you want to achieve and the possibilities with TouchOSC but for someone who lacks the imagination they will probably pass this on. It is an essential part of my setup and highly recommend this..Version: 1.9.10

If you like building your own, this is fantasticBeen using touchOsc for nearly a year now, and I love it. It is in some ways basic (and unsexy) but that makes it very predictable: I get how it works and it does what I want - the possibilities are endless. Its great that this kind of power is available for so little money, thank you!.Version: 1.8.1

A funky app, but works like a charmThere was a little bit of a learning curve to set this up, but now that it is, I'm blown away by how powerful it is. I use it to control macros in Keyboard maestro with Sibelius, and to send articulation changes to Logic 10.4. If you want to send standard MIDI data over wifi or USB cable, this is your app!!.Version: 1.9.9

Pretty Stellar!Great and versatile app. Could use some haptic feedback when returning values to zero - or hitting any pre-set value. Would allow less squinting to adjust some smaller dials and sliders when a finger is covering the contact point. Also pre-made templates and software translations to non-midi software like FCPX or Premiere would be valued..Version: 1.9.10

Brilliant for Logic 9I am not in the slightest bit techie; using my iPad with Logic 9 took literally minutes to set up and has been problem free ever since. I can get on with recording my stuff and not be clicking through menus to do it. Mealy mouthed reviews above do not do justice to this great app..Version: 1.7.2

AmazingAbsolutely brilliant. Don't think twice, just get it!.Version: 1.8.1

DittoThere’s a commonality of shared benefit in the reviews for touch osc, we all agree it’s a road tested and studio to stage ready application that just works. It’s so important for your gear to be reliable in live situations and this definitely is. Has been for years. It’s also stable and intuitive which is crucial for anything in the digital domain. You can count on it working, running light and doing what you want. That’s invaluable to me..Version: 1.9.10

Exceeds High ExpectationsThis is brilliant! Works wonderfully with Logic Pro, with great bidirectional MIDI controls. Well worth it's (relatively) small price. Set up was quite a hassle though... installing the desktop counter-part along with a couple of different drivers... one of the methods requires X11. But, I got there in the end... (and I'm only fourteen), so it would be no preblem for a real, err.. professional music person who knows all about MIDI and is a whizz with IP adresses and stuff. I highly recommend it, although I also recommend visiting the site (hexler.net) and doing on the whole thing BEFORE purchace... hpesoJ.Version: 1.8.1

I'm floored! For under 3 quid I now have a full surface controller that works for Ableton Live 8! It took me 5 mins to set it all up, click the developers website above, as long as you follow each simple instruction it works! I am truly astonished at how cool this is..Version: 1.6.2

Best OSC app out there for realtime OSC interfacingI am using it with lots of other apps such as Blender and Sonic, very easy and clear to setup. The interface is customisable via the TouchOSC editor, which is really cool. Great app!.Version: 1.9.9

Best iOS midi controller to date. You can use this with anything. The possibilities are almost endless. You can design your own midi controller lay outs to work with any DAW or VST available..Version: 1.9.0

WowHoly jeez, this is amazing. Clearly a lot of hard work and dedication on the developers' part. Very well worth the purchase cost..Version: 1.9.9

Love it but broken by iOS 13.2Self-explanatory. Was working fine, updated to iOS 13.2, now the app crashes on launch. Deleted and reinstalled… No help..Version: 1.9.10

It works.Well it's taken me a long time to get working and I'm sure simple issues to point out that iTunes must be installed on your hosting PC would have helped, however it's doing what it needs to and I've jumped in and started making my own interfaces for touch Osceola, which is great in my Ableton Live set up over USB, there are some glitches in the synchronicity of the device when both Wifi and USB are being used at the same time, both interfering with the output (obvious once seen) but also sending presets, I could go on ironing out issues for new users but like a lot of these things you just have to take a leap of faith and dive in, as once understood it's not that difficult to set up. Now I'm up and running I am interested to take things further with Lemur or Konkreet performer, but Touch OSC looks to be a good default place to be..Version: 1.9.8

Great for Hog4 virtual control! All these people leaving 1 star ratings because they don't understand how to configure the app. SMH. Best customizable OSC app out there!.Version: 1.9.9

Wow.I have never written a review before but this app deserves your full attention. Within 30 seconds of buying this app it was completely downloaded on my iPad. I had heard about it but never really looked much into it and thought I would give it a try. I'm sick of all the musical iPad apps that seem like toys, I want to use this to make music. Without having a clue how this app worked I just clicked connect to my macbook pro. Opened logic, and it worked immediately with the track I have been working on. Select individual tracks, use the mixer to adjust volumes or solo. The app will even bring up the plug in on your computer when you select it on the iPad, you can change parameters for plug-ins like compressors or whatever. All the track names were immediately in my iPad on the app, I could go on and on, just get it. It's incredible..Version: 1.7.2

Solid app for control in abletonI have used midi hardware for a long time, but like most rigs, hardware gets heavy to lug around to gigs. This was the best find I have ever had. Always customizing my templates to fit my style of djing in ableton made this app a no brainer. Love it, simple, straight, customizable like my current templates, made my evolution easier and lighter 😉. Great app, thank you 😊👍.Version: 1.9.9

Incredibly flexible programmable control surface softwareIf you have an iPad or an iPhone you can use TouchOSC create your very own simple or complex MIDI, CC & OSC controls customised to do what you need them to do. Control your DAW, your softsynths, trigger notes or Program Change data, write automation all from your iPad (via Wifi or USB). I'm using TouchOSC to control all the above via a series of templates written to perfomr the tasks that fit my workflow. The app is regularly updated with new features, plus there's great tech support and a user forum. Definitely reccommended..Version: 1.9.9

If you developers read theseThis version of the app is broken. This app is a 5/5 stars (which I rated the previous version), but the most recent update has stability problems and keeps on losing it's connection. It requires me to leave the control layout and re-enter to re-establish the connection with osculator quite frequently. Please fix this and touchosc will be my number one app..Version: 0

BrilliantFirst app I ever felt compelled to write a review for, simply awesome value for money. Bought the app, downloaded the sample layouts, opened LogicPad, opened the app, it saw my Mac, synced the layout, opened Logic 9, it saw the app as an OSC controller, asked if I wanted to set it up, said OK and that was that. Anyone want to buy a cheap Behringer BCF2000 :) It really was that simple.Version: 1.6.4

Fixed Long OSC ArgumentsThank you for fixing the long OSC argument bug! This is a huge help. I do have one feature request for the future and that is the ability to send string commands. Thanks for your continued work..Version: 1.9.11

Very niceYou need to know a bit about network configuration but its perfect. Please update it so it can fit the new displays for the iPhone 5 etc..Version: 1.8.1

Great App!Seamless and responsive 10/10..Version: 1.9.3

Korji Liddicut says you are awesomeAmazing app. It really was hard to set it up at first but once you got it set up it works great! It is really good that you can create your own layouts!!! Really good for programs like Traktor(which I bought it for). Really good Get it. Just get it..Version: 1.8.1

Very good programThe user can interface easily, change buttons and more. Just download the programs from the website and use them along with this tool..Version: 1.9.10

Amazing.Great as a novelly, and really useful once you get the hang of it too. After using it for a while it becomes hard to use logic without it..Version: 0

Great controller for VisualistsThis is a great controller for VJ's - easy to use, defult layouts are good but love being able to make my own. I use Touch OSC with VDMX and Quartz Composer to controll video layers, clip selection, FX, timing, etc - all from the one little controller! - Highly recommend purchasing this one! Great work Hexler..Version: 0

IPhone 5 Support plox!I love this app, but having that extra screen space on my iPhone 5 is crucial. I'd like to see it updated for the iPhone 5 screen soon!.Version: 1.8.1

Very promisingAdmittedly I’ve only used this for a couple of hours but it’s been very good so far. I was able to program a simple fader interface for my MIDI keyboard in only a couple of minutes with no problems, using the intuitive programming tool on Windows. It connected fine using the iPad camera connection and a hardware MIDI interface. I also found that there was a layout that connected via OSC to my Reaper DAW - that also seems to work fine. Looking forward to programming up something more complicated to control a multi-keyboard / expanded setup..Version: 1.9.10

Simply the bestTitle says it all really. This is simply the best OSC app available on the app store. It only gets better when you take into account that it's now a universal app, the most user-friendly OSC app i've ever seen, and had a good stream of updates, and each with performance and feature additions. They could charge so much more than this for an app of this calibre. Congrats..Version: 0

Best iPad app periodThe reason I bought an iPad. Simply Phenomenal.Version: 1.6.3

Almost perfect!I use this app on a daily basis for work and live performance. It's flawless. All I would like to see now are a few new objects. Multi-xy objects and being able to add inertia to controls would be incredible..Version: 1.7.3

Help With AbletonI recently purchased this app, really looking forward to being able to use it on my Ableton Live set-up I have on my Pc (Windows Xp). I'm an amateur at using this sort of software, but I thought this looked worth my time (and money) to try and get it to work. I downloaded it and followed all the instructions on the Hexler website to make it work, and got it to work with everything (pd etc) until the very last stage, which is mapping the controls to Ableton. I would greatly appreciate it if someone were to write another review back explaining how to do it, I'm sure others, not just me, would be very greatful too. The five stars is because, once working, I'm sure this will be a fantastic application. Thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to help me..Version: 0

AstoundingAn amazingly cheap solution to several problems. I was searching for a new MIDI controller keyboard and couldn't find the right balance between a controller and a digital piano (Don't need all the noises or onboard sequencers, but need a decent piano feel keyboard that can control my studio DAW (Logic)). Eventually I realised there wasn't one and opted for a small hardware DAW controller with motorised faders to supplement a USB digital piano. Just by chance, I picked up a comment in a discussion board about iPad controllers and the penny dropped - or at least £500 dropped. I confess I haven't tried any of the other DAW controllers, but this one took my breath away. All I had to do was tap in the IP number, Logic saw it immediately and I was away. Large faders that can be operated simultaneously, great use of colour (for clarity, not decoration) and lots of extras when I'm feeling creative. A genuine money saver that is well executed, professional and versatile. Nice one Mr. Fischer..Version: 1.7.2

Feel the Power....This is a brilliant App. Seriously. Started using it about a year ago to make a set of touch faders for Reason and soon realised that the possibilities for creating and designing your own interfaces using iPhone/iPad are pretty much limitless. I won't be spending any more money on 'specialized' controllers like the APC again. I think that for this price, apart from Liine's Lemur which is much more expensive, there isn't any competition! And when used in conjunction with something like OSCulator, there are some AMAZING things you can do with any DAW/Synth, even VJ software... Stable, responsive and intuitive. If it doesn't work, you're probably doing something wrong....Version: 1.8.1

Fully customizable! If you use this with the TouchOSC Editor it becomes... whatever you want!!! I now use it to control Traktor Pro in replacement of a 350$ hardware controller. I am looking forward to creating a new designs for Ableton Live now, 16-pad and synth controller..Version: 1.8

RespectOne of the greatest apps ever made! FEEL THE POWAH.Version: 1.9.9

Wow, wow, wow!I'd looked at this app several times before, but was dissuaded from trying it by the fairly nondescript screen captures and some negative comments about people saying extra software must be purchased to make it work. But I finally bought it anyway, and was thrilled to find out my concerns were baseless. There was essentially no setup required at all, certainly no additional software was required, and right out of the box it controls virtually everything in Logic Pro 9.16 brilliantly. It both looks better and has far more capability than what I had surmised from looking at the example screens on this page. I am SO glad I finally tried this! This fantastic app will be operating my studio most of the time from here forward. What a bargain for the price!.Version: 1.8

Easy and effective, perfect.Works great! Can't wait for custom layouts..Version: 0

It's great !I bought this app a long lime time ago, it was more expensive then and still worth every penny. Ignore the complaints, if you want to make something that does everything you want, this is it. It's had loads of great updates, core midi (so osculator isn't needed), more features on every control, it's super stable. Seriously this is worth alot more than whatever it costs now. buy it.Version: 1.7.4

AmazingWith the addition o customizable layouts the best osc controller for the iPhone has just become a million times better. If you have ever wanted a touchscreen osc controller but didn't want to pay thousands of dollars for a Lemur, you need this app. Well done!!.Version: 0

Super versatile, great app for experimenters as well as professionals.I've been using this app since it came out. I use it to control many different hacker-y projects. If you make anything that has a network connection, you can probably use this to control it. I use this mainly with plogue bidule, but it also works with pure data, max, and many other great tools. Well done, and thanks for providing this!.Version: 1.9.10

Still one of the best custom control appsTouchOSC has been around a while, and a lot of competing apps have come along since. Yet we still use TouchOSC for straight forward and flawless app control throughout our studio. It's got a very quick learning curve, and does pretty much everything you need for streamlined studio and live control. Couldn't live without it..Version: 1.9.9

Ugly but flexible is a little brokenHas very good potential but currently I can’t get key commands to work at all. I’ve set up a custom drum pad for use with superior Drummer 3 and once plugged in it’s almost latency free. Very handy tool but like I say I would like to see the key commands working....Version: 1.9.9

Solid, simple, reliable osc communication!I've used this app for years and it works great!.Version: 1.9.9

My goto OSC appThis is a great app. It has consistently been updated and supported since I started using it a few years ago. Love it!.Version: 1.9.10

Bravo! This is the missing linkAt least it was for me. Somewhat obsessed with midi controllers and had been tweaking a live loops set up and for some time just always had that 1 button or command that I didn’t want to have to press. I have had like 5-6 of the more well known midi to daw controllers (notation, Akai) and still use those plenty. But this app magnificently does things that none of those controllers can do. This helped me creatively, technically and now I have a lot more flexibility to do more interesting thing in my sets and continue the exploration. I have never written a review before - this app is a must have if you do anything with MIDI.Version: 1.9.11

A bit of support wouldn't go a missWhat would make this 5 stars for me is if there was more support to routing templates in Logic once you've created them. It's a bit of a headache! It would be good if you could also provide some more downloads on your site. Perhaps like a mini iPad version for the iphone with 8 channels and measure counter, etc. Please... Or just help us a bit with support so we can create our own without as much frustration!.Version: 1.8.1

EGAD!This is FANTASTIC. Enough said..Version: 1.7.1

TerrificI never normally buy apps, even a pound is sometimes too much to ask, however this is a rare example of money well spent on the app store. Thank you and I am glad to support such a superb developer..Version: 0

BrilliantThe configuration screens of this app are pretty awful. But once you get past them it does its job so well I have to give it 5 stars. Responsive, smooth, simple, and gloriously useful. Tablet computers were born for this kind of thing. Some flexible generic layouts would be nice on iPad to compliment the app specific ones..Version: 1.8.1

WowThis is by far the best app on store. This works amazing on ableton. Even when I get my next phone I will hold on to my aging iPhone just to keep this amazing software running. Good bye exspemsive hardware. Worth all the pennines I have. Had running In 10 minutes. Please allow own templates soon..Version: 0

The most mature iOS control surfaceTouchOSC may not be as flashy as Konkreet Performer but it's arguably more useful and has more features. The layout editor runs great and transferring new layouts to the iPad from the editor is a breeze. Setting TouchOSC up to work with Reaktor running on my Mac was quick and painless. Even creating new layouts from scratch was fast and intuitive. If you're using programs that support OSC then buying this is a no brainer. Keep in mind that the iPhone scale layouts won't load on iPad and vice versa..Version: 1.6.4

Great app for any digital media artist/developer!Just got done using TouchOSC to control a high profile visual installation at an international electronic art festival. The app worked wonderfully despite some weirdness with the internal network in the venue. I was connecting with the Java/Processing library oscP5 to control a giant architecture tracing installation in front of a huge crowd. The controls offered are very nice and react instantaneously, sending messages lightning quick over the network. To the guy who said it doesn't work with any app, you must be having network/firewall issues or simply don't understand how this technology works. It may not be brain-dead simple but what high performance technology is? Don't blame the tools! There are a couple things I'd like to add to the obligatory request list, if I may. - Array of trigger buttons (not just toggles) - Glide/momentum option on faders - More colors for controls (I was mapping to various preset colors, it would have been nice to visually be able to match the RGB of the color I was triggering, to the color of the TouchOSC control.) - Attractors, which could pull the fader or XY back to a 'home' value with a certain force Great job, I just got an iPad and I'm stoked to try this out as the first app I play with on the new device. I am highly reccomending OSC and specifically TouchOSC to all the electronic musicians and artists I know..Version: 0

So versatileDon't allow yourself to think that this is restrained to music applications, the uses are endless, robotics and embedded control are just a couple of other uses- any embedded target with a Ethernet port that can receive UDP commands and do basic string parsing will work..Version: 0

First day using the app and my life has already gotten better. After downloading the editor and importing the layout for the hog 4 by high end systems. It was easy to set up and after playing with it for a couple hours I figure out how to designed my own layout that was a plot of one of the sets on the show I’m working on. I used buttons that when pushed would trigger a keystroke macro that would add the channel(s) into my command line. Having the control and efficiency that this app has enabled is amazing for how inexpensive it is. It was money well spent!.Version: 1.9.9

First classI haven't smiled as wide in a long time as I did when I first saw this thing working with Logic Pro 9. It's fantastic. It responds very quickly even over the wireless connection it has to use and it's well laid out. For the price, it's a steal. I thought it would control only the volume, pan, sends and transport. It manages to control just about everything, channel strip settings, insert effect settings and software instrument settings to name but a few. There's a bit of hunting involved until you find the correct setting, and I expect that some AU instruments will be impossible knowing the number of settings that they have. With the included layout for Logic and the recent update from Apple, there's nothing to setting it up; Logic detected the iPad straight away as soon as I started TouchOSC. If you have an iPad and Logic, you can't do without it..Version: 0

AmazingThis is a m a z i n g ! ! takes a little learning curve to set it up with logic but once you get it the sky's the limit. Now its just a waiting game for when the iPad is released, who needs a Lemur when you combine TouchOsc and iPad? Great Great App.Version: 0

Can’t beat it!This app is amazing. You should definitely have a little networking knowledge and controller mapping basic knowledge to use. But still easy enough for beginners imo. I’m a dj and use it as a basic light controller. You can design your own templates with OSC Editor. Very cool. Saved me a lot of money in the long run. This app can be used for sooooo many things..Version: 1.9.9

Fantastic app!I havnt gotten round to using this with live yet but I have used it with maxmsp. I had it working within minutes and was really surprised by how little latency there is! This is a perfect app if you want to control something wirelessly either on stage or at home (and for an amazing price!).Version: 0

Absolutely great app! With great constant updates from the developer. The setup process (especially for PCs) is time consuming. This would be the only area I can think of for improvement. Otherwise really great for ableton users!.Version: 1.8.1

Awesome, very versatileI've not long had this app, but after some tweaking, I've got it to work with Fl studio, Traktor and GarageBand. It's extremely versatile, I've created custom layouts for Fl studio, to cover keyboards, drums, mixer and effects, however it did take some time to map each control and is a bit tedious so be aware. Now that it works how I want it to, it's awesome. One thing that would put the cherry on top for me, is if the app had an ability to send MMC commands, so I can get all the transport controls working in Fl studio, but other than that, fantastic app.Version: 1.8.1

Just get it!This has replaced the Korg Nano-Pads for me, its such a good price for what you are getting. (Think of how much it would cost to get a fully customizable touch screen interface!) I highly reccomend it to anyone, it is usefull in my home studio, but a life saver on the road..Version: 0

Absolutely greatThis is probably the coolest iPhone app I have bought. Obviously not everyone needs a MIDI controller but if you do this is superb. Combine this with Osculator and the TouchOSC interface builder and you have a Lemur killer at a fraction of the price plus it looks better. This would be even better on an iPad. To quote Steve Jobs, this is insanely great..Version: 0

Revised Review...I had written I would rewrite my review if I got TouchOSC werking... I feel like a complete idiot, but here it is... TouchOSC is GREAT. Easy to use, easy to setup and SUPER responsive. I use a Novation SL MKII as my main controller, but its XY axis pad has poor sensitivity and response. I substitute it with the XY pad in TouchOSC. FANTASTIC. The phone sits nicely on my controller as well ;) The problem I had was my default Firewall settings. They were blocking the incoming messages from my phone. This is where I feel like a complete dork. A very obvious thing to check that I was overlooking. This is the one step/tip missing from the setup information on the Hexler website. This may be obvious to most, but it is best to include any and all steps in a setup guide. Once that issue was resolved, things werked flawlessly. Thanks for an awesome App/Tool. note: You need OSCulator for your phone to communicate with your computer. To get a registered copy is $20. Without registration you will have interruptions. But it is well worth the money. [this may be a duplicate review as I'm not sure if the first revision submitted correctly].Version: 0

Much better tha props Figure!Paired with retouch and 3rd party midi app on your computer is a bit of a challenge. But when you get it going "pow" it's Figure unboxed! It's a Reason controller!! Needs a bit more work in some controls ie nxxt, and tempo control..Version: 1.8.1

Very nicely doneI must say that this is quite possibly the best 5 bucks you will spend in the app store. Because i am not too familiar with the way OSC works, it took me about an hour or so of research and banging my head against the wall before I was able to sync this with Ableton. When i figured it out though...I am so amazed at the possibilities of this! As other reviewers have mentioned it is like a tiny jazzmutant lemur. You can design your own parameters and MIDI functions for use in any of your audio programs. Completely user customizable. I just purchased the Novation Launchpad days before I bought this and Im considering returning it because I can practically control everything that I need to for 5 bucks as opposed to 200 bucks! Fyi: There is an awesome layout for OSC created by juanlittledevil (google him) that I found and installed. It works perfectly with Ableton and i would highly recommend downloading it from his site..Version: 0

Just what I neededThis app is awesome! I used it last weekend to record vocals and guitars in my home studio. I was recording on my own so had no one to man the desk. It's great for having remote control over Logic's transport and also getting a decent headphone mix. It saved me a lot of time and hassle!.Version: 1.8.1

PlyciAmazing app! If your into modular music making this is a must, any PD/MAX enthusiast should definetly have this. The only thing that would make it better is if it could utilise Bluetooth to connect to a computer as well as wi fi. Top marks.Version: 0

Nice appApp is nice. But need better support. I emailed them 2 times with no response. 1 star for support. 5 stars for app.Version: 1.9.9

Great appBought this app to use in my live set. Really enjoy how easy it is to custom design layouts and sync over to the ipad. However for windows users it can take some time to setup, as the developer website lacks instructions. I am using this app with ableton live, it works nice. The odd time some rotary knobsneed to sync up again to use them. Ive also run into issues with toggle buttons not properly midi mapping. Its a really fun app to use especially for the price, definetley great if you want to custom design your own controller. I am satisfied with the app..Version: 1.7

TouchoscBrilliant piece of software! Really easy to set up if you follow the instructions on the hexler website. The simple GUI is a pleasure to navigate and it does feel like a mini jazz mutant controller! Using with ableton on vista. worth the price just to add a x/y controller..Version: 0

Great app! NEEDS APPLE WATCH SUPPORTHey guys, I know this is a long shot and probably a lot of work, but is there any way you guys can create an Apple Watch version of this app? It would not need all the benefits that you get with the iPad or iPhone, but it'd give you the opportunity to have a couple of Buttons and maybe a slider or knob right there in your wrist ready to go! You guys and your app rocks!.Version: 1.9.9

Not for meI'm sure this is a great app but so far I have not been able to get it working. I'm not bothered considering the price. But essentially I thought the setup process was complicated particularly the other software you seem to have to download from another developer who also bombards you to register (very annoying). I may try and get this software working again but I think the developer would be doing himself a favour if he toned down the heavy technical jargon on his website and made it very clear to visitors where the setup guide is. A video for setting up would be useful..Version: 1.7.1

Works great with Logic Pro 9This works great with Logic Pro - in fact this is how all apps should communicate with other devices (eg laptops): faultless, instantaneous. Look forward to further integration with Logic..Version: 1.6.4

Best $5 spent in the App Store to dateThis application allows me to substitute a large lighting console for a coupe of iPads and has the flexibility for custom building or layouts. Money well spent, this has been quality since first purchased 5 years ago..Version: 1.9.10

AbletonWorks great with Ableton on Windows though I could see it being a little tricky to set up if you're not Tech savvy (follow the setup guide from their website). Great that the one purchase works on both iPad and iPhone..Version: 1.6.2

Works with TraktorTook me about half an hour to get my head around how it all worked, set it up with OSCulator on my macbook pro, works exactly as described. Going to get myself a little wireless router to take a, no internet, network with me to gigs. Recomended application for any digital DJ with an iPhone..Version: 0

Works brilliantly with MaxI use TouchOSC as a customizable interface that I can integrate into my Max patches and this update just makes it even more flexible. Thanks for an indispensable tool!.Version: 1.9.9

Must-have touch controller for iPhone/iPod touch!Amazing little app! Very intuitive, well thought-out and easy to setup. Been using it with OSCulator on Mac for translating the OSC messages to MIDI. The free TouchOSC editor provided by Hexler allows design of custom screensets/layouts. Looking forward for the iPad version! :).Version: 0

Incredible Software - A must have!A superb piece of software. Every sound engineer / video editor / keynote operator etc etc should have a copy. Working in corporate AV, this app makes life so much easier through use of intuitive shortcuts to most Mac functions. Run this alongside OSCULATOR and you have a complete control surface. Use the EDITOR that now comes with text labelling and before long you'll wonder how you ever got along without it! All credit to the developers!.Version: 0

Most Versatile ControllerI've used TouchOSC for some years now and it's never let me down. I've controlled all kinds of things from music to visual apps to light fixtures, from small projects to large. It's especially useful for highly personalized projects that need to be controlled with osc and or midi..Version: 1.9.9

Seem to works well[Edit from a previous] It seems to works now. I can now connect to Logic pro and made some change from my iPhone. There is some latency in the connection, but I will make some further tests. So, I change from 1 star to 4. Good job, thanks,.Version: 1.7.3

MagicalAbsolutely superb. Beautiful interface, extremely well executed app. This brings to your iPhone something that only a few years ago was a dream for music producers - unless you had two grand for a Lemur. The innovation and imagination shown by the original Jazzmutant device has been beautifully adapted here. In conjunction with Osculator and Ableton Live, this is a total pleasure to use. Well done Hexler (and Camille at Osculator) - totally brilliant. And I'm still working out how some of it works! Thank you..Version: 0

Still fantasticI remember using this app nearly a decade ago. I downloaded it recently to use my iPhone to control buried parameters on my HX Stomp and Boss VE-500 vocal processor. I use it when setting up for a gig (to adapt to the venue). It works flawlessly with the Apple Camera Connector. The editor on Mac also works flawlessly, and transferring layouts from Mac to the iPad/iPhone takes 5 seconds over WiFi, no hassle at all, no cable needed, always works. Super customizable too. Thank you for this! Hopefully my review will help others like me who were unsure if this actually still works. If you need to control MIDI using your iPhone/iPad, it doesn’t get any simpler than this!.Version: 1.9.11

BrilliantGreat app. Extremely easy to setup (once you've got the additional free software and follow the walkthrough on the site) and really intuitive. Been messing around with it in Ableton and Reason, so far i've got had more fun with it in Ableton, but am looking forward to really pushing it within Reason. Can't wait to get my new digital desk for work so I can wonder around the room with my phone and mix accordingly. +1 to you good sir..Version: 0

AmazingI have my iPad hooked up with ableton live through livecontrol. Wifi sync works amazing.Version: 1.7.1

I Love TouchOSCIt's an amazing useful tool for the studio and stage. I love how easy it is to program and make work for your needs!.Version: 1.9.9

Worth the learning curveI'm relatively new to midi but had been wanting to try this app out...I lucked out and won it in a palm sounds giveaway and after doing some research and subsequent tweaking I see what all the fuss is about...with a little patience and repeated use of the app you can do so much with it! It's very deep and not for people who don't know much about networks and midi or aren't willing to spend a little time learning the setup process but if you follow directions and understand the terminology it's very well worth it. I love it with logic and although I use touchable with live I think it's a cheaper (but equally powerful) ableton controller. If you're still on the fence, justify the $5 on how much you'll save by not having to buy an apc or any other hardware controller. It works very well and totally worth the price. Plus it's universal and looks killer on an iPad..Version: 0

Nothing short of amazing! This app is absolutely incredible. Took me some time to get it properly set up with Ableton, and now I have full control of the DAW using the LiveControl iPad template. If you're looking to set this app up with Ableton on Windows, you will need the LoopBe1 program to create the "invisible cable" over wifi. You will need another program called PureData to monitor and make sure you are correctly receiving MIDI signals on your computer. Finally, you will need the LiveControl program installed as these act like drivers for TouchOSC on the PC. All these programs required are free to download. Last, you have to go to Ableton and click Preferences, click the MIDI sync tab, and use LiveControl_TO as the control surface, set the input to Loopbe internal MIDI, and the output to whatever you want it to sound through (by default on Windows, is Microsoft GS wave table synth.) like I said, all this took me a while to set up, so if you're looking to use this in Ableton on Windows, this is what you need to set it up. Hope this helps anyone with a similar setup!.Version: 1.8.1

The future of music productionYou heard it here first: this is the beginning of the end for custom hardware interfaces. Launchpad? No thanks. BCF/BCR? Nope, don't need those any more. In fact, this one app replaces about $500 worth of hardware in my studio, instantly obsolete. This app is a must-have for the serious Ableton user... Slick, simple, and effective. I've been waiting for exactly this for years. Highly recommended..Version: 0

Genius! If you need an excuse to get an ipad this app is definitely it. I can do stuff in Logic now i couldn't do on the mac like continually spinning rotary controllers and recording the automation. Amazing also for doing simple stuff like fx on and bypass from the bass corner or the sweet spot instead of being tied to the computer and whole new dimensions for live work. The future for a few pennies...unreal!.Version: 1.7.3

Works GreatMy favourite:).Version: 1.9.8

Not quite perfect yet but it's getting thereBefore I explain anything, I'm rocking some not so expensive equipment here it is pc with ableton live, novation launchpad, akai LPD 8 and this app on the ipad2. First off, yes it won't work off the bat. As I found out, if your as new to the works as I am, err was, you'll be bald before you get it working. Yes I said it, bald. Either through frustrating attempts or just the sheer knowledge you have to learn to get it set up, or maybe not. To be honest. It took me three days and several web pages later to figure it out. If your new to all this then you'll have the same problem. That said and done, with the equipment listed above, I managed to get them all working. THIS APP ROCKS. My pos little studio ( to some not me ) got way sweeter when I saw all that this app can do. I don't rely too much on the launch clips on the first page but I use the mixer board and the blah blah blah. All in all, hated it at first but since it's working 100%. Almost too cheap for what it can do. It gets five stars if you noticed, because past all the frustrations to get it working, is worth it in the end and it's weight in gold..Version: 1.8.1

Works pretty wellThe app itself works great, but the layout editor I found pretty clumsy. Some feedback: autoassigning channels/numbers to different sliders in the editor so they don't conflict by default would be useful snapping to grid would be handy as well in the editor - it's surprisingly hard to get things lined up nicely being able to edit the position/dimensions of all selected objects simultaneously from the editor side-pane would be handy (like, typing a width into the width box changing the width of all selected objects, man that would rule). If you have a twitter account, use it - I had initially tweeted the above feedback to the account, before realising it was dormant. One other bug I've noticed - for exclusive checkbox grids, sending controller signals back to TouchOSC to set their state confuses it about which one it has to uncheck, and multiple things end up getting checked, incorrectly. Anyway, keep up the good work : ) Have also used it to make actual music, in quite detailed ways, quite happy.Version: 1.8.1

What is needed:I gave you 5 stars because of the price and features, great value. But something is lacking: 1) How do I move 1 fader at a time instead of 8? 2) We need a key command/function to be able to move faders and sliders SLOWLY, for more accurate/precise control of all parameters. 3) It would be awesome if you could come up with something that allows "MIDI learn", so we can control any desired parameters on a hardware controller via CC. For instance, I have a USB MIDI controller with 16 knobs, they don't get used much anymore.... so I would like to be able to move a parameter on the iPad and then simply move a knob/slider on the hardware controller to learn it. Being able to save presets would be great too..Version: 1.8.1

Touchosc & osculator combo A+Incredible app, with the free controls designer app for mac/win you can create your dream midi controller with ease. On mac os x I needed a inexpensive shareware app called osculator which converts osc to midi. This is a superb app as well. Now I can control any mac music apps that accept midi. A good tip is when designing your own screens give the controls good names not just automatically assigned ones. An app's controls might respond to midi cc messages or midi note messages so try both if one doesn't work. awesome..Version: 0

Great toolWorked great on my iPhone se but having problems with it shutting app on my new iPhone 7. Hopeful that I can resolve the issue because it has become a great creative tool.Version: 1.9.10

Best midi app everIt is the best midi controller for ipad. It is super fun to custom with endless possibilities. Now, i can control plugins and instruments with a 7$ app, it is crasy ! It is the future of midi controller. Thanks for this app, i have been waiting a long time for this..Version: 1.9.8

Great bt needs more optionsI using this app in my studio setup , such a great app, i want to ask developer to add more option i gui editor to make graphics more interesting like using system fonts for design and add png or jpg in interface , usb connection sometimes drops bt network is ok..Version: 1.9.11

Great, but needs one thing!I found this app amazing! I connected to traktor using bridge and use it all the time. Very responsive if you set up your own wireless network on your mac! One downfall, there is no battery indicator? So, it freaks me out that it'll switch off, mid set?.Version: 1.8.1

BrilliantThis app is great for music production. Perfect for adjusting notes, articulation keyswitches and CCs in your favourite DAW via your iPad/iPhone. Takes a very logical approach to customising controls to your needs using the free OSC Editor. Very clear instructions on the Hexler website. Can easily be used for a mobile setup - just take your MacBook, iPad and some keys. Connects via USB or WiFi. Best solution I have found yet..Version: 1.9.11

Fantastic, best app I've ever purchasedAbsolutely blown away by this. So responsive it's unreal. Please note however, you will have to pick up Osculator of similar to convert osc to midi to use with something like Ableton. Worth it though and dirt cheap for 2.99..Version: 0

Most wonderful osc app hereThis app worth 100 times the .99cents. I use this app combined with osculator, to interact with modul8 so it make the trip 100 times better! in other way, it's really like using the respected but expensive jazzmutant interface, but without the great feature of a customizable interface (& on a more restreint area, of course). But seriously a cool app, for vjs.. keep working on it to develop extra features.Version: 0

TouchOSC with Logic 9Got the AC-7 and the TouchOSC. Love both. Both work well with logic 9. The AC-7 is good if you ever have a hand on a Mackie control. The TouchOSC,otoh is really intuitive and therefore is my favorite. Two big flaws for the TouchOSC though. No UNDO implementation. No compare button on the EQ page. Anyone knows how to modify the TouchOSC layout to implement these indispensable functions? Thanks in advance!.Version: 1.7.3

Amazing! After many hours of long, tedious work creating my own layouts using the provided editor application and OSCulator, I've finally a fantastic Traktor Pro controller! After having spent several hundred pounds on dedicated hardware MIDI controllers, I can easily see them being replaced by my iPad and iPhone running TouchOSC. It's still missing a few features that would make it perfect (a jogwheel type controller would be nice), but I'm amazed by the reliability and overall value for money..Version: 0

Thank You.TouchOSC makes me hopeful for the future of music: it's easy and inspiring. The layout editor is amazing, you can decide what faders go where, just how many toggles you want, how big you want things to be (I have clumsy fingers, this is welcome!), etc... I've been using this for a while now, and if you're considering it I'd suggest using it with OSCulator and Ableton (or whatever your performance software of choice is)..Version: 0

Love itGreat for ableton using griid, better than touchable for mixing applications. One annoying thing that prevents 5 stars is that the app loses connection when switching - say you want to check your email quickly, when you switch back you have to reset the connection and start again. Please fix this!.Version: 1.8

Not giving up yet 😂I’ve been at this TouchOSC for a few days now, created custom layouts with Toggles, Rotaries, Push Buttons , Faders, XY Pads and Multis to use for virtual instrument libraries within Logic Pro X, Kontakt and other plugins. I am getting the hang of it. Though, it seems that, using TouchOSC over a network connection at times chokes up notes on MacBook Pro 2015 with 16 gigs of ram and SSD Drives. Need to do more trouble shooting with TouchOSC & Osculator. I am thinking maybe Osculator is the culprit here. It would be nice if Hexler would make TOSC USB capable as well. Other than that I like the TOSC. As mentioned in other previous reviews, it would be nice to also have more choice for colors and graphics..Version: 1.9.10

Awsome with Max/Msp/JitterIf I can make one complain about this app, is that the interface is not custumisable. Other then that it is super nice. It took me a couple of minute to make all the suggested interface work with MAX. Kep on working on this apps !!!!.Version: 0

Using for MadrixUsing to control Madrix. It’s great and works great. It would have been 5 stars if we had the ability to edit the layouts via iPad.Version: 1.9.10

Optimal! This is the best controller ever! You can build it as you want. I use it with modul8 + the UDart module for vjing and it work great!.Version: 1.7.4

Fantastic! This is a brilliant little piece of software. I have now successfully incorporated my iPhone into my Traktor Scratch DJ setup. I use the faders and XY pad to control the FX easily while I'm in the mix...works a charm! You do need a bit of know-how to get it running, but if you've got a technical mind on you you'll not have a problem! 5 stars, looking forward to a customizable interface...Version: 0

Just what I was looking forI've looked at several iPad tools that I could use to control Logic Pro on my Macbook Pro. This one is the ticket! It does exactly what I was looking to do and more. I have complete freedom to use any instrument in my studio now with full remote control over record and playback. No more pressing start and running across the room in time for my queue to start playing. One added benefit is that I can walk around the studio and listen to my mix, and edit it using different position perspective as opposed being positioned only in one spot. Can't beat the price!! BTW, I was worried at first after reading that the setup was a bear but it took me less than a minute to set it up and probably no more than 3-4 taps on the iPad and one selection on my Mac..Version: 1.8.1

Impressive... how about a monome type step sequencer, how about a hard line for non-wifi, possible?K all great and dandy sitting in your bedroom but how about a hardline for djing that way it would be possible to use the ipad as a midi control for an ableton effects unit, or as a home base for the lovely people who don't know beat match. Also lets exceed expectations and have a nice step sequencer lay out that can do what the monome can especially in regards to the light movement with time... TO THE GOOD PEOPLE OF TOUCH OSC... DO THESE THINGS AND PEOPLE WOULD BUY THIS APP FOR $20 BUCKS!!! MONEY IS GOOD FOR YOU!! PS CHECK OUT LINE 6 I THINK THEY MAKE A HARDLINE MIDI CONNECTION TO IPHONE.. THIS COULD WORK!!!! PS PS STEP UP THE GAME AND YOU GET PAID!!!!.Version: 0

Works great, really ugly!Let me say, this is a fantastic piece of software that works reliably and does everything I might ask for - my 5 star review reflects that. My only complaint (and its a pretty big one) is that it’s UGLY. Controls are limited to a single shape with 8(?) colors to choose from. Let us customize an RGB value for the color. More importantly, let us import our own graphical assets to use as buttons - it would take this app to an entirely new level. Thank you for your work!.Version: 1.9.10

Great appThe flexibility this tool affords musicians and djs when combined with puredata or osc capable DAWs is incredible. Remember it will work over wireless, ive set up ableton and this as a remote DJ tool and can mix a set without going near my kit. Very cool, and by far the most used app on my iPhone..Version: 0

Works like a charm with Ableton Live 8 on Win 7-64I use the free Livecontrol utility to link the OSC TOuch software and Ableton Live running on Windows 7 (64 bits) This is a great controller for Ableton Live, providing control of clips, devices, mixers etc. The OSC template and script for Live is quite good: the iPhone display will reflects the status of Ableton (fader/control positions, active device, clips and track names etc...) The installation of LiveControl is not as easy at it could be, but it works!.Version: 1.6.2

Great for other MIDI control things as wellI got this app on a recommendation and I cannot be any happier. The layout builder makes this app insanely customizable while still being relatively easy to pick up. With the addition of a small freeware program from the developers website. This can be used to control ANY MIDI controlled software. Including what I use it for, stage lighting. I was in the market for a cheap DMX control solution for my high school. Q Light Controller plus this app and the MIDI Bridge means I can wirelessly control the lights from virtually anywhere on campus! It also makes programming the desk much more intuitive and who doesn't like playing with their iPad. It can also be used to control QLab for those on a Mac. All in all a great piece of software. Cheap, easy to use and very powerful..Version: 1.8.1

I love itWhat a fantastic app. Easy to use and performs solidly. Ive mostly been using it in conjunction with unity to control 3d game characters for a performance but I can see already how it's going to. Become a core part of how I run projection shows from now on. The range of layouts is great for most uses but better still is the fact that you can design your own and easily transfer them to the app (whilst it is is still running and in control of another program). One thing that would be a terrific addition would be some kind of input device that let you input 3 values with a single finger (like a trackball) ...maybe something like a rotary combined with an xyFAder. My fingers are too fat for the multi slider and dragging 3faders at once doesn't feel as intuitive as something like a trackball. I can't personally imagine how this might be done but you seem like pretty clever folk..Version: 1.8.1

Works a treatGreat app works just the way you want it too running on windows 7 used to control traktor and resolume makes everything so easy. Big word upto hexker excellent app.Version: 1.6.3

Custom layout the icing on the cakeIncredible. Was a very useful tool in those moments that I didn't have a keyboard around, and now I'm able to emulate all my effects on my iphone, definitely worth the 3 quid (3 quid?! insane) for the ability to do all of this. Will be interesting to see exactly Novation's answer stacks up to this - I'd say it has quite a battle on it's hands..Version: 0

Fun to tinker with, possibilities are endlessI’m very amateur so my use of this app is not very complex or mind blowing. I’ve been having fun with this app on my iPad controlling softsynths on my laptop that have fiddly interfaces. The place this app outshines hardware controllers in that you can have practically unlimited configurations — something you just need 3 pages of 16 faders. I recommend reading the TouchOSC documentation on the website, it was very easy for me to install TouchOSC bridge and TouchOSC editor on my Mac. You can wirelessly send templates to your iPad from your computer, I found this especially helpful when experimenting with different controller types - if I messed it up or decided to change something it was super easy to make the change in the editor and beam that over to the iPad instantaneously. The UI/Design of the app might be something that could be touched up in a future update. I hope to have fun this with my digitakt, maybe I’ll update this review to let you know how it goes. Thank you for this app, it performs a wide range of tasks in a very utilitarian way and for a very reasonable price..Version: 1.9.10

Spectacular! This is seriously amazing. Not only does it come with some cool templates for controlling software via midi, but it also comes with an editor so you can effectively create your own midi controllers! With a bit of work it's bidirectional too, so as things change in reason or live, they are updated on the iPad. Simply stunning..Version: 0

Hooray.Well you won't get any developer response but when you eventually get this working you will be excited. So now I don't care I'm just happy to not be frustrated. and latency seems pretty good. Firewalls will stop this from functioning. FYI. :).Version: 0

Great interface for easy control. This is a very powerful midi controller that can run a large range of computer DAWs as well as hardware with ease. The design of the interface really makes the whole process more enjoyable, and using an iPads touch interface is really the best option for real control. This really has the scope for total control..Version: 1.8.1

The beat chefThe best phone / itouch app for midi musicians - no contest. not difficult to setup and now you can create custom layouts. jaws drop when i run 50 feet from the stage and control the music with my iphone. touchosc is revolutionizing the ability for djs and musicians to come up with unique and innovative ways of controlling sound and visuals in a completely custom way..Version: 0

Mind BlowingI've sold all my midi hardware; for both Traktor and Logic, it is the slickest interface and easiest to customize. 5.5 stars.Version: 1.6.4

AwesomeThere are only a few apps that are worth 5 stars and this one is surpassing them all. Easy to use, easy to customize and quite responsive. I am using it with Ableton live, Reason, Traktor, reaktor, and each day I find new way to use it as a producing or djing tool. Only con, there are no infinite rotary to use as a jogwheel..Version: 0

The future is here!Another proof of just how incredible the iPad is for music. TouchOSC is years ahead, fully customizable, open source marvel of an app. It does everything it claims and more. It took me second to set up with the iMac. Now I can control Traktor wirelessly (wifi) from the iPad. Templates are made available for the app but you can find some for free online or even create your own depending of your needs..Version: 1.8

Excuse me, i think i've just came.Superb app. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Very user friendly website which provides info on setting up link between ipa and host DAW. I imagine however it will be a little more difficult to create my own templates for windows. Overall a baby Lemur-alike. It won't change your life, but it just might soak your grannies knickers .Version: 0

Love this appReally powerful app, you can almost do anything with it..Version: 1.9.9

Very quick with Logicpad mode and Reaper PCI got it working, took me a while. Hoorah! Nice latency also..Version: 1.9.10

Simply phenomenal. The only way this app could possibly get better is if it becomes able to output midi data instead of only OSC. Other than that, this app is perfect..Version: 1.6.3

A classic!The swiss army knife of OSC controllers..Version: 1.6.2

Works Perfectly With Windows OTBComes with full PD scripts pre built to enable linking to non OSC apps such as Ableton. Is it better than OSCemote? Well, both are good, that has 3 prebuilt interface screens this has 18 (over 5 groups, you can load 1 group at a time) and most of the groups come with PD scripts to convert OSC to MIDI, OSCemote currently required you to build your own or know some PD. With TouchOSC you can be up and running in 10 mins maybe less, no PD skills needed. Supports 2 way comms and custom interfaces are promised, which will make this a killer app, but even without that it should get 5 stars..Version: 0

GreatPurchased and up and running controlling elements of reason 6.5 in an hour or so. There is some learning to do and luckily most of it is common sense because the documentation is a little limited for someone such as myself who is new to midi controllers. The developer website contains the template designer and midi bridge software (windows/mac). The windows software are both excellent and the method of exporting templates to iPad is superb. Very impressive and hassle free which is lucky as unless you know your stuff there will be lots of testing out and fiddling until it is completely to your needs! Mentions on below reviews about no time or battery indicator - this appears to have been resolved and both are available in the designer..Version: 1.8.1

This App Is The Best!I’d love to see more and more updates to this app. I love it. I use it for just about everything. This is THE GAME CHANGER! I will have everyone i come in contact with using this app! I call it, “The Ultimate Midi Controller”!!!.Version: 1.9.10
