✓ Terrible progressionUnless you like watching a bunch of adds you will have to spend a bit of money or play the worst or easiest mazes because from what it looks like you cannot progress without doing either one of those things. The game’s fundamental feature is you willingly watching ads. Why? If you are that desperate for money I would rather pay you for bot having any adds and get more coins for other mazes by actually completing them. I think that it also hardly makes sense that you spend say 20 coins to play a maze and then earn 2 coins back after completing the maze unless you play an ad which will 2x. I like the mazes and I like Pac man but I see more greed and unthoughtful progression because to play this game completely in a normal average pace you will wither have to spend money or play ads that give the devs money anyway either way its money for them. Not saying that getting money out of this is bad but it’s different when the game forces you anyway..Version: 9.0.4

✓ Retro??I’ve no idea to this day why the word retro is used. I gather it means for the young ones who weren’t born in a better and original era of gameplay. I love pac man and all the originals still to this day and in my mid 50’s I’ve managed to build up my own arcade with original cabinets. Out of curiosity I downloaded this game. Visually it’s fine. Runs well. I only played the original version not really interested in the other versions. But unfortunately the swipe is not responsive enough for quick turns. And after the first sheet (That’s a level to the young ones) you have the brief video of Pacman being chased with the music. But sadly this is incorrect, the original game took two levels to complete before you had the Pacman chase. I gave it 3 stars because if you never grew up experiencing a better time of the arcades and what a great place they once were, but it’s introducing a timeless game to younger kids (Anyone below 50 qualifies) I have no idea why there’s adverts and all that nonsense but again I’m older and what do I know. As an original arcade kid growing up in the 70’s more than most. Download and enjoy. It’s gotta be better than fortnite and all those other skill-less games.Version: 9.2.4

✓ False age ratingI downloaded the game and on the App Store it said 4+ but when I played the game and put in my age it said I was too young and had to download another one of there games so in fact it is not 4+ as I couldn’t play it even though I clicked 13 to 15 (age) why does it even give you the option to chose your age if you can only play when you’re over a certain age I don’t even understand why. Is it because it includes references to red bull an energy drink?????? ✓ Buggy and annoyingWhere to even start, first off as soon as you download the game you’re met with a 30 second unskippable ad. Next, the whole reason i personally downloaded the game (to play the original pac man) isn’t even available until you play the knock off career/story mode of pac man which is filled with power ups and an overload of power pellets that ruin the whole point of pac man. The game is filled with bugs that force you to play levels you don’t want to or equip skins you don’t like. This game has terrible game design and is an obvious cash grab with ads and add ons you don’t even need. ✓ PendragonAround 2010, had the namco app on an original iPad which died. Downloaded this effort onto a newer iPad. Oh dear, who’s minding the store these days? Good grief. I’ve just deleted the app, only had it a few minutes. Don’t fix what isn’t broke comes to mind. It’s such a shame when they try to ‘improve’ something that was perfect from the outset. The original app offered various types of maze, the classic was exactly like the original arcade. Namco also did a great Ms. Pacman app around 10 years ago, brilliant, just like the arcade. Having seen what they’ve done with Pacman I’m not bothering to try anymore. I expect that if I try again in ten years time things will have turned full circle and some genius will come up with the idea “lets just put the original out as an app”, “hey, why not just charge a fee to download instead of winding-up the customer with lots of annoying adverts”. ✓ Why update map selection screen?I’ve put up with having to scroll through a few pages of maps in mission mode but why did the developer decide that it was a good idea to change that in v8 so that you have to swipe through every map rather than an array of maps. And if you didn’t know if the map was in each of its skill level, you have to go through it again for each skill level. Is it so hard to implement this like in tournament mode so when you select the tournament, it automatically goes to the map? No more hunting down maps and just go directly to the mission. The fact this has been the behavior since the beginning is a big oversight and still not corrected. Fix this and I don’t care if you have to swipe multiple times before it moves on the next map..Version: 8.0.1

✓ Was a great game, but...I have always loved playing this game, from the time I had it on Atari when I was younger, to having it on my Kindle, To now having it on my iPad. However, there are some major issues going on with this game. I have recently lost about 85 tokens I had left from a recent in-app purchase. I have tried restoring my purchases, but nothing happens. I have tried restarting my iPad, and that doesn’t work. I have also tried deleting and reinstalling the app, and still nothing. All of my crowns for completing mazes are still there, but not the tokens I have purchased or earned. And when I complete a challenge or a maze, it says I have earned tokens, but the token counter still reads zero. I recently let the ghosts eat me, so I could try the resurrect feature, which would normally cost tokens, and it said an unexpected error occurred. What gives?.Version: 6.6.3

✓ Ruined by Completely Replacing the GameI paid not to see any adverts, and used to enjoy collecting tokens to unlock new mazes. I loved the seasonal mazes like Halloween and Christmas. But those days have gone. Now the entire game has been replaced with “Story Mode”. Not only have all of the mazes I played hard to get disappeared but my purchase to remove the adverts is not being respected. And the ads are long and very intrusive. It seems that you can’t do anything without being forced to watch an ad. I have no objection to introducing a different mode, but replacing the original classic game which is the reason everyone bought it, is just wrong. The only possible reason I can see for doing this is pure marketing. Namco saw how many people liked the classic Pac-Man game, so instead of risking marketing a new game, they stole all the historic previous reviews for the original one. ✓ The controls are an exercise in frustrationSince the advent of “story mode“, the game is very much gone downhill. I liked all the extra mazes that one could acquire before that, but now ever since you put in “story mode“ – which, by the way, is a misnomer, because… What story? – but now, while I still have access to the mazes I had bought before, I can’t get new ones. Why? But, what I am really riding in for, is… Ever since the update from about a week ago – 10.2.6 – the swipe controls have gotten quite atrocious. Far too often, I swipe, the game doesn’t register it until I swipe a few more times, and then by that point, I have been trumped by a ghost. It’s getting very difficult to play. I don’t know what you did to the swipe controls, but please fix them.… Of course, what would be the best thing ever, is if you finally put back in Bluetooth controller support, like you’ve been promising to do for at least two years! ✓ Story Mode isn’t Great - Glitches and DesignStory Mode provides a great way for players to play countless mazes. In fact, this game is centered around Story Mode. However, I have found the mode to be quite frustrating at times due to a reoccurring glitch and poor decisions made by developers. Oftentimes when I complete a maze, a glitch occurs where players don’t receive a reward and the game prohibits them from advancing to the next maze. This can be annoying, especially when a life was lost or a power up was used to complete the maze. A few poor decisions are present here too. For example, some bonus stages feature 2 PAC-Men: one players control as usual, but the other mirrors your movements from across the screen. It is interesting at first, but becomes a hassle once players discover (a bit too late thanks to the game’s hints) that the mirrored PAC-MAN can be caught by a Ghost and lose a life. Playing with 2 PAC-Men indeed makes the game much harder to play. Also, Tokens (which are the game’s currency) are a non-renewable resource as they are only won by playing new mazes (they cannot be obtained from the same maze twice). If players need to by a particular power up using Tokens in order to fulfill a challenge requirement, players may be forced to skip the challenge and play the next couple of mazes to raise enough Tokens to buy the power up later. Personally, these issues caused me to enjoy the game a lot less..Version: 10.2.0
✓ Do Not Like Game After New UpdateI have been a big fan of pac man, since forever. My son got me hooked on this game. I used to take him to the arcades & we played till it closed. We always went home broke. I have a lot of health issues & stay home, very boring. My son added this game for me & I loved playing it. But after this new update about 1 month or so ago, it’s terrible !!!! Now they don’t give you any chance of extra plays like the other one. Some friends & I feel like this updated system is forcing you to buy if you want to continue playing. That’s Very Sad, because I know myself & others do not have money for that. ✓ Nausea or Nostalgia ?I purchased the Premium/original PacMan for just that; I understand the drive (profit) to sell mazes and ‘tokens’ as well as the drive to have a unified app.... how about this.. 1. Don’t ask me to open a ticket (seems that this is your reply to any negative feedback and you know it is just to make most go away) 2. Give us an option in settings to turn everything but ‘classic’ Pac-Man off... while in classic mode, give us the option to turn it (the ‘new’ content) back on.... telling me my premium features are now free doesn’t undo the mess you have made of an iconic game. ✓ Give me stressless Pac-Man!I have so many glitches in the new version, that eventually, THIS 62 year ole gal may have to decide NOT to reinstall the game, in my MANY attempts to reset the game (I have to uninstall and reinstall ), when it gets stuck in the chocolate challenge reward and allowed me to collect as many points as my heart desired, as long as I want to sit there and tap on my screen. ✓ Disappointing.When I saw this game I thought I’d give it a go but when I clicked my age group it said that I couldn’t play. Do they just assume that all people in the 2-12 age group are 2? If they do, then that is incredibly stupid because 2 year olds can’t play Pac Man so therefore they can’t write reviews if there are any issues. I have also read lego person 12’s review and I fully agree with him/her because 13 is way more than 4 (so are the numbers 14 and 15). ✓ Doing a little to muchI am a die hard PAC-MAN fan, bought the game on every platform that I own. I purchased this game for the iPhone several years ago, was thrilled it was available for an iPhone, to take with me on the go, all was good until the huge update. Apparently someone wanted to make the game, franchise with collectibles, and different game styles, that made this game a serious issue for me, number one, to much loading, PAC-MAN is a simple game to run, and play, if my phone has poor connection to service, game has trouble loading up, next to many menus, I just want to open the app, and play, not search for a particular style of PAC-MAN, all that should be an option, for people who want this. I’m fine with just my CLASSIC MAZES, I hope you can update this issue, separating the CLASSIC from all this other content added. Give us our regular CLASSIC MAZE PAC-MAN for the iPhone. ✓ “Fixing” what isn’t brokenPacMan is a simple yet enjoyable game. The developers of this game, however, have turned a fun classic into an annoying wreck. ‘Story mode’ starts off with basic levels that are too easy to beat, followed by ads in between. They then tried to add in things like skins, arcade machines etc that I couldn’t care less about, complete with a forced tutorial on how they work (I deleted the game at this point - just let me *** play). Throw in the most obnoxious music (seriously I’d rather listen to a 4-year-old with a whistle) and this game loses all of the charm, simplicity and gameplay the original classic had. ✓ Bonus points for the OG puzzles butI was super excited to find the original pac-man on an app, but within the first 10 minutes of playing became extremely aggravated because numerous times the way I swiped on the screen just simply didn't register. I am assuming this is because you have to swipe DIRECTLY on the joystick, and apparently have to have INCREDIBLE accuracy when doing so. If the direction you swipe isn’t dead on the joystick, forget about it. Multiple games were lost right off the bat due to the aggravating movement controls. Extreme bonus points for having the OG game available, but so far the movement controls are less then sub-par. I’m gonna continue to play simply because I love pac-man, so I will update my review if the movement control issue is a user issue VS an actual game mechanic issue😂.Version: 11.0.6

✓ It was a good game a few years agoPAC-MAN is really fun and all, at least the old version. The old version wasn’t ad packed and it wasn’t so much loading and levels. The fact that the developers packed it with ads for money is just so unexpected. I got excited to play this game again and now all I see in the game mostly is just loading an ads. After every single level you get a 35 second ad stuffed in your face, and there are also hearts (which is really dumb if you ask me) which deplete very fast after lvl 7. It’s just stupid…the game used to have no ads, no levels, it was perfect until now. And I have also noticed the ghost things cannot be outran once encountered, I think the players speed should be buffed and the hearts should be taken out of the game, the only reason the hearts were added (the hearts are your lives, only got 5 max) was to have another reason for people to watch ads, I don’t think the game is really fun right now because of how the developers also seem to try and make it complicated when not in a level. That could just be me, anyways it’s just ad packed. I think all this should be removed: -Remove all ads and only keep optional ads -Remove the lives -Give the player higher speed -add a difficulty option to choose the difficulty..Version: 10.2.2

Idiots, a joystick should always spring back to neutral (as with the original arcade game and all such)! ✓ IPhone navigation system poorI was excited to play a bit of PacMan casually, but it created more stress than casuals game should. For iPhone anyway, the navigational system (including the swipe and tap options) are either tempermental or interact with the operating system commands. For example, swipe up brings up all the apps you have open. So swiping is unusable on iPhone. Tap, if you don't press perfectly in the right place, it doesn't compute and ultimately ruins your game eventually. I appreciate the joystick style graphics for the games nav system to match the retro theme, but it just doesn't work. 4 decent sized circles to press for directions would be miles better. You could still have a joystick on the User Interface as a static graphic (or even interactive - depending which circle you tap, it could temporarily face that way). In terms of the swiping option for controls, being so close to the bottom of the screen will never work as thats how to close or come away from open apps. Read on: When this game first came out, I found the on screen sliding controls were just horrible but that was okay as I bought a mfi Nimbus game controller to work with both my ipad and Apple TV. ✓ Worst Pac-Man EverYou think the Atari 2600 Pac-Man was bad? Then you haven’t played this abomination. The touch screen controls are abysmally imprecise and Pac-Man often goes in a different direction from the way you swipe. The maze designs are not only terrible, violating every tenet of good Pac-Man level design (full of dead ends, gimmicky levels themed around shapes and words that don’t allow for any natural flow of movement), but several of the level sets recycle mazes from others. ✓ Very poor control of movementThe game and the boards themselves are great, but unfortunately, it’s impossible to simulate proper arcade joystick control of PAC-MAN by using swipe screen or button control. If you’re an expert Pac-Man player, you need to be able to move Pac-Man quickly and accurately. Without a manual joystick, on the harder levels, where you must move quickly, it becomes impossible to do that. In other words, when you swipe left, sometimes Pac-Man moves down or in another direction instead, and then you die. This happens every time the game doesn’t record your intended move correctly.... which for me is SEVERAL Times EVERY game. And swiping to make quick turns just does not work with the high degree of accuracy that you need to clear the expert (Elite) levels. If you try switching to button control, it’s not much better. ✓ Why Wi-if?I just downloaded this game recently. So far my experience hasn’t been what I expected from a pac-man game. First off, why do you need wi-fi to play the game? There is no feature which requires you to go online or go on the internet. Also there are WAY too many ads in this game. At least one per two levels. The game itself is ok. I like how you can change pac-man’s and the ghost’s appearances. The gameplay works pretty well, although the loading times are terrible. You have to pay tokens to play a level which means if you run out of them you can’t play. It is very hard to keep the tokens because you have to pay more to play than you earn from rewards. Overall, this game is a waste of time, I don’t recommend downloading this unless you are a huge fan of the pac-man series. I would recommend getting pac-man 256. Somehow those guys can make the game better than Bandai Namco can (the creators of pac-man. Of course you get a few by beating new levels that you just bought but that is a very slow process. When I got into the first level it was a straight line with a U shape. The level lasted probably less than 10 seconds because I reached the other side. Immediately after I beat it I had to watch an ad. The most annoying part of this game is the swipe to move. You must swipe in the direction you want to move. Whenever you swipe down it does the thing where it moves the app downwards and then you have to re-swipe up to get the app back on screen. This may not do this on older phones with the home button but many people like me have the new phones. ✓ Controls are very temperamentalI used to love this game before all the improvements made through updates. However, it has become very difficult to control on a touchscreen since updates have been released. Depending on where you swipe, will determine if you can control pac man. Swipe too close to the maze and you won’t be able to move. If you swipe too close to the joystick, it also won’t move. This is something that needs to be fixed. You should be able to control pac man no matter where you swipe. I’ve tried changing the control type and it still does the same thing. Please fix as this is one of my favorite games..Version: 10.2.9

✓ Fix the controlsAs many other reviews have mentioned, the controls are poorly calibrated. I’m having fun with the game which is why it’s not one star. I don’t mind the new levels which depart from the 80s version that everyone is complaining about. The graphics are cool and it keeps the 80s charm. But man, these controls are BAD. The swipe misreads the gesture about 30% of the time which is unacceptable. This shouldn’t have even released without fixing that. Also, devs, if you hate yourselves and you want this game to die, please leave a canned response below telling me to follow a link and leave feedback elsewhere. ✓ Control frustrationsI was having fun for a bit until I started getting to the harder levels and noticed half my finger swipes are not registering, little frustrating when I’m trying to avoid ghosts only for Pac-Man to sit in a corner and not move in the desired direction after 2-3 swipes on the occasion; and of course when I run out of lives due to this game breaking issue. ✓ PAC-man is spinning in his graveThis is probably the most awful game I’ve ever had the misfortune to play. It’s an absolute desecration of pac-man and takes away all the fun of the original arcade game. Instead replacing that fun with arbitrary ‘currency’ which does absolutely nothing to add to the game except make it a horror to navigate as you are bombarded with endless pop ups asking you if you want more tokens or to change your Pac-Man skin. There is clearly nothing that has been done to respect the original game except use it’s intellectual property to encourage in app purchases and generate ad revenue. ✓ Now terribleI had to reinstall the app game because it had locked me out after I had been playing for several years. I come back to all of my progress gone including all of my IAP mazes gone. ✓ Problem with controls in new versionI love this game and have been playing it for a while, but the new version has a major problem with the controls, which (for me) make it unplayable at the level I used to play it. Specifically it seems to have a problem with vertical swipes which often don’t register. I have tried all three sensitivity settings and am having the same problem with all three. I did not have this problem prior to the upgrade, and I haven’t changed devices either (iPhone SE, mostly). When this is fixed I’ll bump it back up to 5 stars..Version: 7.0.3

✓ Can’t pay to turn off adsThe game asks for your age, and my daughter is in the 2-12 range. Why are you showing ads to such young kids and trying to get them to install new apps. This is unethical and greedy. If I could pay a few $$ to get rid of the ads I would. ✓ Why?Whoever is behind this absolute atrocity of a game should know they made a massive mistake. Having been to one of very few remaining arcades recently and playing the original Pac-Man I can say with confidence that I am completely disappointed in this, it completely voids the actual meaning of the OG Pac-Man games which was, if you had skill; 25 cents was all it took to have a great time with the game. ✓ Look at the privacy policy!Apart from the fact that you just can’t go straight into playing the game, it tries to sign you into game store automatically. You can’t play it unless you agree to the privacy policy which allows the app to collect all the data on your phone including photos & using the mic etc Read it for yourself as it’s scandalous.
