✓ Fantastic appWhile I agree with previous reviewers that the recipes are far too America-centric I feel that this doesn't detract from the app as a whole. The variety of recipes available is staggering and there are some useful tools in the app to make things simpler and more user-friendly. Unfortunately for us Brits there is not a lot we can do about the overabundance of American style recipes as big oven relies on user submissions so, unless we ban north America from submitting recipes, we will have to put up with it for a while longer! :) The only thing we can do is start submitting more recipes ourselves, Jellied Eels anyone?.Version: 3.1

If I have something to use up then I search around it and scroll until I find something I fancy. I find the portions option very useful too. I, personally, have been looking for a "how to cook good sushi for free" app for ages but this is free and has over 76 sushi recipies. Yet you should not delete the e-mail with you temporary password as it's easy to forget It. If your on gmail you can check your mail on the free google mobile app. Also good if you've only got left overs and no supper or have a growing long for some quay lime cheesecake I haven't checked for it yet. Cons: presentation is a bit scruffy some recipies are a bit iffy and you can only add favs unless you make an account which ethier slows you down cause of Ads or costs 3$ (£2.25p)..Version: 0

Using it to compile my personal recipe book and with the ability to customize recipes that I get from websites and magazines as well as putting in family recipes. I don’t do the scan feature as much but I love being able to edit and adjust the instructions to my liking. Which is adding the amount of each ingredient with in the list in the instructions. ✓ The only sure way to add a recipe is to type it yourself.I have had this app for many years and recently have been adding recipes for which there are four options including providing up to three scans for a full recipe. This option is a joke. In the case I have wanted to add recipes with a long list of ingredients BigOven completely disregards my scans and provides a recipe that isn’t even mine. It’s as if they don’t want to be bothered by a long list of ingredients. Ultimately disgusted by their unprofessional and casual disregard for the recipes I wish to add the only solution has been for me to type them myself. ✓ Great time saverI do love this out, and I use it every week to plan my meals. I’ve had no trouble with adding in recipes or editing from other sources to customize for my use. My biggest complaint would be the grocery list… I’ve used other grocery apps in the past that I was able to customize the categories to correspond with the way I shop, and they also were able to save commonly purchased items that ended up on the list every week. I find myself editing the categories of most items that I put on my grocery list every week as the assumed categories are inaccurate. Fixing this feature would make this the ultimate grocery and meal planning app..Version: 14.0

✓ Great app - use it every week.I use this app almost every week to plan meals for the week, and it automatically builds my grocery list which I can then open at the store and check items off the list as we go through the store. I upload recipes from the internet that I like, and use the search capabilities to get recipe ideas. The support is good too. I wish the iPhone app grocery list made it a little harder to check things off. I often inadvertently mark something off the list just by scrolling down the list using my thumb on the side of the screen. It has an undo button but when I’m at the store I dont always notice it until I’ve left the store and don’t have everything on my list. ✓ Good startThis kind of app is long overdue on the iPhone. This is a good start guys but some room to make it really great. I have used Big Oven on a PC for over a year, I really like using it to enter in my favourite recipes from my many cook books, from magazines and that I receive on bits of paper from friends. Easy to find them all in one place. You just need a login to their website and you can enter as many as you like. I have been wishing and a hoping for this to then be available on my iPhone so I can find a recipe when on holidays, at the supermarket etc. This app does just that if you save the recipes as Favourites, just open the app and hit the heart, but it looks like it is not saving the recipes locally on the phone so you need a wifi or phone connection. It would be great if the Favourites and Try Soon recipes were local on the phone. Other functionalitIy that would be great to bring accross to iPhone is shopping list, meal planner etc. Perhaps have this in a paid app for a small fee. This kind of app is so useful and Big Oven have been doing this for a while so seem to have the backend website to support it..Version: 0

✓ A great resourceFor those reading I am a man whose mother and grandmother were hard workers and still excellent cooks. when I want to cook something I remember they did it with ease but alas I never learnt what they took for granted. This tool let's me quickly get ideas from people who seem to know at least more than me. I tried a number of things and generally it's worked well and whilst looking for one thing or another I find something else to try. I dabble with cooking, but it's great when the kids say I've done better than their Mum. Stepdad (who must be gluten-free and dairy-free) finds dishes and makes a meal plan for the week. Then Mom grocery shops and chefs it up. ✓ Great for Solo... Families? Meh.So I'm a premium user and Big Oven is awesome for me. I like that it let's you adjust how many probs you're making then automatically calculates grocery list. So if a recipe calls for 1/4 Tblespoon and you're making a double portion...BOOM! Your grocery list has 1/2 Tblespoon. Nice. However... Adding my wife allows her and I to share the grocery list only!! She asks me all the time for what recipes I'm using. You have to fix that. The ability to share or pin recipes to each other's views (esp. within a premium family plan...) would make this a much better app and would seem a no brainer to add a "Family Favorites" folder for instance..Version: 14.0

Profile settings don't appear to work on iPad - change password just give error, so unable to change and using the "forgot password" link fails miserably also. Gave it a couple of hours of grace, but gave up out of frustration - what is the point if tou can't login, or don't appear to be logged in??Cancelled my 30 day Pro subscription and removed the app. A waste of a few hours - try something else..Version: 11.0.2

The shop feature is great. The only issue I have is with "clip recipe" from web. Out of the 10 times I have tried to use this has only worked twice. I know this feature is only compatible with recipes from certain sites, just wish it would accept any recipe from less popular sites. But I still love it! ✓ It's gdYes well done everyone a lot of the recipes are American. Why is this a bad thing? While some may think that Americans can't cook I beg to differ from the recipes I've! And if you don't like their measurements I'm sure you can find an online converter to change them to something that better suits you. The more people who write recipes from other parts of the world the less complaints of 'just american recipes' there will be. You get a very community based feel with a comments section where you give your opinion on the recipe or serving suggestions. Interface is basic and consists of webpages, but I find no problem with this except the occasional dead link. I have had no problem with the search dragging up odd results. I really like the favourites and try this section :) 4 stars because the interface could be improved and there is a constant theat to make this pay-to-use..Version: 0
✓ Easy to use and accessLove this App, it is easy to look up and store recipes. I pay for the ‘Pro’ version which means you can take a photo of a recipe and load it up - Big Oven converts it to type for you! Brilliant. I have also saved recipes from various website by simply copy and pasting the web link it - same thing, will convert to type for you - or easy to copy and paste ingredients and instructions in. Typing in is possible also, so is loading up your own photos! Best thing is because its an app, I have my favourite recipes wherever I go - so when on holiday etc I can access it through my phone or tablet! My only difficulty is that the significant majority of the recipes others have loaded are American so have ingredients and measurements we’re not familiar with down in New Zealand!! But I use this mainly to store my own favourites - beats hundreds of pulled out pages from magazines or newspapers floating around the kitchen!.Version: 14.0

✓ QualityGood app. Bit slow sometimes but most of time fine. Recipes are user submitted so you may want to ammend them slightly to your taste. I'm from England and have no problem with there being lots of American dishs. There are plenty of vegetarian options and quite a lot of meat dishes could be changed to suite vegetarians so this is no problem. Also included are diabetic options.
