Save Your Time and MoneyI have Directv as well as Att so I was thinking I had the best of both worlds right?!?! Guess again I bought them both so I could stream live shows while away from home but shortly after I started to realize that ATT service isn’t that great because I can’t consistently stream the shows I was trying to watch and that’s even if Directv doesn’t have the show blacked out due to whatever restrictions…so yea I’m paying for channels that I can’t even stream and my service is so horrible I can’t even watch something I’m not interested in. Long story short I decided to write this review after watching a game on a coworkers phone that has SLING and T-Mobile due to the company I’m paying not allowing me to stream a game on a channel that I pay for because I’m not at home…there’s no point in me paying the outrageous fees for their services if I can’t even watch what I’m paying for!!! But if your streaming a channel they allow and you have access to WiFi it’s useful..Version: 6.1.002

Apple TV Mirroring DisabledSo. The main reason I went with Direct was the ability of the app for tv mirroring. That way we didn’t need cables run to places such as outdoor living areas / porches. Was also convenient for business travel - connect phone/iPad to hotel tv, and have home programming/recordings available! However, tv mirroring was disabled last fall and you get a warning to disable “on screen recording.” At the time, when it first was disabled, tech support was CLUELESS, and after some research I figured out what was going on. Called back and explained and told “oh it must be a glitch in new app update, next update it will come back.” No need over the winter, but with spring getting outdoor places / TVs going again, but noooo, mirroring is still disabled. In addition to this inconvenience, when we had Direct installed, was quick since we did not have cables run to remote outdoor locations and some bedrooms. After mirroring was disabled, called to have cables run, but now it will cost more since we already had initial install! What? Had Direct been up front and not changed their service, this would not be needed! As soon as contract is up, switching to a cable service that allows for tv mirroring. This bait and switch is total rubbish!.Version: 5.8.006

Dish app was betterThe app is not good. I hate this because overall I’m happy with Directv. I had dish before and I thought their app was bad. But compared to this app, wow, it’s 10 times better. And that is saying a lot. I can’t watch any local tv shows away from my house. I can’t watch a lot of live games away from my house. I download recorded shows and they still don’t show up again, away from my home. It’s very frustrating. The bad thing about it all is that I called customer service and explained this to them and the girl had no clue Directv even had an app. Comical right. I wish that I had good experiences like the rest of ppl that say this is awesome but I can’t say the same. Also, I couldn’t watch the nfl Sunday ticket on the app. It kept giving me an error message. Even when I was at home on my home network. But oh well can’t have everything right? App needs a lot of work that I don’t think will ever get completed..Version: 5.8.006

Many technicalitiesThis app is needs an entire makeover. Let’s start with the fact that it takes FOREVER to load. no other tv app on my phone is like that, then sometimes the tv shows I was watching will disappear from under the continue watching section. Like it’s 2018 my shows should NOT be disappearing, then when I go to rewatch the show that disappeared it sometimes won’t let you fast forward to where you left off at, so I have to rewatch the entire show again.🤦🏾‍♀️ (which I won’t do). also sometimes when you binge watch shows back to back the app will let you skip commercials and guess what instead of just jumping back to the tv screen it’ll basically hop to each commercial but don’t play it & THEN the show will come back on. Y’all do realize when it does that it takes as much time as a commercial does. Also what’s the point of having tv shows up there that I can’t watch ? And I’m not talking about premium channel shows either. The entire saved by the bell show was listed but I couldn’t watch it. hmmm let’s see oh yea and STOP PLAYING THE SAME COMMERCIALS. NO ONE WANTS TO WAYCH THE SAME COMMERCIAL OVER AND OVER AND OVER. You all also need to fix the FOX channel because it doesn’t work on my phone/app with none of my devices. I had to download the actual fox app. This app also freezes too much and I think that’s about it. You all need some serious help if you want me to come to corporate I’ll be more than happy to help make you all become more efficient and effective..Version: 5.10.102

So bad not sure where to start...This app is nearly impossible to search for shows or sports you want to watch. Half the time it doesn’t even see my Directv boxes in my home when I’m at home and connected to my WiFi. So far, everything I’ve ever tried to stream doesn’t work as it’s blacked out from mobile or PC, or I’ve had a technical issue. Also, you can’t see from mobile device what’s set to record. Many times I cannot delete recorded shows from my phone and last but not least, you can’t orient your phone in landscape for viewing, so nearly all descriptions are truncated. Oh I did forget - let’s say you search two days ahead in guide mode. You see something interesting, click on it then go back. It takes you back to now in the guide vs the day and time you originally selected to view. Bottom line- this app would’ve been awesome in 2007, but needs to join 2017 if it wants to set itself apart from... well any other app in terms of reliability, consistency and feature functionality..Version: 5.4.002

Being charged $40 a month for nothingSince I got Direct TV last year with a new iPhone, Beats headphones, AT&T wi-fi and cable deal, I haven’t had any time to use or watch anything on Direct TV app when they started charging me $40 a month for nothing. I haven’t had time to set up a log in account and password either while Direct TV continues charging me $40 a month for no activity from using their app over a year now. This is bad as what credit card companies do to college students; charging a monthly fee while not using their credit cards. Anytime after I watch a video or two on the go on other apps, I get alert messages telling me “you have used 75% to 90% of your data.” If I watch any videos from Direct TV app on the go, I’ll get those data use alert messages. Direct TV now sends me emails to update my debit card when I already got my new card and updated it on Apple Pay and my wallet. Therefore, Direct TV charges me $40 a month for nothing when I know won’t be getting a refund for little or no time to use or watch anything on their app..Version: 5.14.001

Long time customerI hate Directv. Let’s see if they truly want to keep a 20+ year customer or not. I have created & verified a sign in 1000 times, yet I cannot sign in, on my PC or the app. I have done Forgot Password 1000 times. I have done Forgot Password the same. I have put in old email addresses. I have put in new ones. No matter what, Directv will not let me sign in to see and manage my account, YET, as I enter my name, my account#, my last 4 of SSN and credit card on file, it says it “found” my account. Support—wanna help? Also, we all know the rights to NFL Sunday Ticket are coming up. I hope it gets snapped up by someone else for 2 reasons: #1) It’s too costly. Being it is almost 2022 you’d think the option to buy a single game or a season pass for your favorite team would be available. #2) For all the money Directv pays the NFL, they should have negotiated the blackout rules. Almost $400 and we still don’t get every game AND, when you are watching a game and the network (FOX) cuts away from it and goes to another game for competitive reasons (Dallas game yesterday), Directv takes forever to make it available under the package, if they do at all. Not what they promiseSigned up for one price, added a few more channels for an agreed upon up-charge. Somehow the bill was miraculously double the agreed upon charge. It had been a year of monthly hours long calls and disconnected service because they 1) can not charge us what they KNOW is the correct amount 2) can’t figure out how to send a bill to the right email( checked multiple times, they have the correct email but somehow can’t send send the bill) . Bundled with AT&T so that is a constant shuffling back and forth as to who it to blame. The latest is , almost since we started with Direct TV is has taken multiple tries to get a signal when we turn on TV. They claimed it was the tv not their equipment, tv company says “nope” and Direct TV finally admitted it is the receiver but if we want a working receiver we have to pay $75 for a technician to bring it out or $20 to pay for shipping. NO OTHER OPTIONS! So now we get to, need to try 50 clicks every time we try to turn on the TV, or reset it multiple times at the receiver or leave the tv on day and night. Yep, as soon as we can, DIRECT TV is gone. Unfortunately we have limited options in our area..Version: 5.10.006

DIRECTV’s Television InterfaceNot only is that app for your phone or iPad extremely glitchy, but DIRECTV’s new television interface is horrendous. I have DIRECTV wired directly from my Satellite dish to a Mini Genie, and am appalled at the menu changes. Currently, though “prettier”, One can no longer Mark a position in a playback or live show with the push of one button in order to return to it at a later date; the bottom area of the screen is blacked out for quite a few seconds if one pauses, backs up, or rewinds, etc. This is particularly distressing when watching sports channels, where one might want to continue to see the bottom 1/4th of the screen And view the “crawl” for the score, or continuing updates of other games, etc. The previous interface, largely analog, with a simple menu across the left-hand side, very intuitively allowed one to “Search“, “Record“, “settings” “manage recordings”, etc., without all of the pretty pictures, and repetition which now takes up over 75% of the right-hand side of the interface which use to freeze the show one was actually watching. Whatever happened to testing with real life people and keeping the ergonomics simple??. A thoroughly outrageous and Horrendous interface. GO BACK TO THE PREVIOUS INTERFACE DIRECTv !!! Or, we all go to another carrier . We expect much better from DIRECTV and from AT&T..Version: 5.10.102

Good when it worksThis is my favorite TV app... with the caveat that it’s only my favorite when it works. Watching live seems to have less issues than on demand . Unfortunately for me I mostly watch shows on demand. At least once a day the app cuts out in the middle of my show, pops up with error messages to try again when I return home (when I’m in my house), and when I try to get back into my show more often than not the app crashes and refuses to load at all. When this happens I usually have to restart my phone (I’ve had to restart my mobile more times in the past 3 months than in the entire 7 years I’ve owned a smartphone). Sometimes restarting resets the app and I carry on with my show, other times the episode has suddenly become unavailable (when it should still be available). It’s such a headache. In fact, it’s enough of a headache that I find myself wondering whether to renew my DirectTV subscription at all..Version: 5.15.004

Direct Tv is dishonestI have had Direct TV since Sept. 2016, I just moved in May 2018 and I moved my service with me. I called yesterday to see when my 2yr. Contract was up and I was told May 2020. I was confused about this so I ask how is that when I got this contract I'm September 2016. She stated when I moved my service and got the wireless mini genes instead of the mini genes I had they put me into a new contract. First of all I was not notified about when I changed to wireless mini genes that this would happen. The installation tech is the one who suggested that I get the wireless mini genes. I told the Supervisor of retention that I was not told this and he said that they sent me and email regarding this. We then confirm my email address and that was an email address I set up for only At&t. I no longer have that email address. I ask did Direct TV send me something in the mail and he said "No they sent it by email and not by USPS mail. I ask to disconnect my service and he told me I will get charged for early termination. Now I'm screwed with this bill or if I disconnect the Early termination. I will take my chances and I disconnect my service. I will not let this rest. They are very dishonest..Version: 5.10.102

Direct tv app for listings and content.It’s like zap-to-it app for tv listings. Only, zap works better. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Why would you put an inferior app in place of a good one. I know, another change is coming and you’re doing bad programming deliberately. You are trying to force another version or something new, making your customers conform. Again. So we’re forced to change to what you want us to do. Right then. Or it’s more trouble until you change and starts all over again. II’ve tried to keep up but I’m tired of the game. I think you should be dropped from your whole database. I don’t like being forced into a bad product. And that’s what you do. Always. So,anymore, you don’t care about the consumer. I’ve been an att customer for 50 years and these last 9 or 10 years I’ve felt cheated and robbed by your company because you take my money, way too much of it for the services, and can’t even tell me why. So, It’s to other apps for entertainment I go. I am finding it easier. Pretty soon I’ll be cutting the cord and you can keep your programs in process until no one needs you anymore. App doesn’t work since AT&T took overEver since AT&T and Directv merged the APP has not worked. When trying to login says I have an invalid business name or that I entered an invalid character. I know I am entering the correct login information. I have spent countless hours with tech support being transferred from agent to agent over the last 3 weeks. Still no resolution. I rely heavily on the app to keep up with my programming and all the agents can tell me is that it’s been escalated and it will be fixed within 24-48 hours. After 3 weeks of escalation and several 24-48 hour periods, nothing is fixed. I would think that a company as big as AT&T/ Directv could have this fixed by now. Obviously they do not care about long term customers that have been with them for over 15 years, since all marketing is for new customers. Speaking of marketing, the first thing every agent I speak with asks me is if I’d like to hear about exciting new services. NO! I WANT THE SERVICES I HAVE TO WORK FIRST!!! I can see why people are leaving for Dish and Charter where I live. Get on the ball AT&T/Directv!!!.Version: 5.10.102

Stopped WorkingI can no longer open this app. It just suddenly stopped working. When I went to open it this morning, I got an alert that I needed to register my device, even though I have used this device with this app since I got Direct TV. I tried registering it by entering my information, and I was sent to the App Store for an update. I updated it and then tried to open it again. An error popped up, saying my email and password was not recognized, so I was sent to a login screen. There, I got the error that said, “Whoops! Looks like you entered an invalid character.” I tried re-entertaining my information that I know is right several times with the same results. I trashed the app and reloaded it. Now I’m in a loop of getting sent back to the App Store every time I get the error about not being able to find my information. I hated this app when I first got it because it only worked half the time and would freeze unexpectedly. For the last several months, they seemed to have fixed that issue and I’ve had good results with it. Then this issue began, making the app unusable, and it’s upsetting, since this is part of the service we pay for. Someone needs to fix it soon!.Version: 5.14.002

UselessThere is supposed to be a feature where you can download shows to your phone so that you can watch them away from home without using data, however that feature doesn’t actually work. Any show I attempt to download get stuck in the “waiting to prepare” stage, whether auto-prepare is off or on, and never ends up actually preparing for download, and thus never downloads. So it watch anything away from home I have to use data, but the amount of data this app uses to stream video is astronomical compared to other streaming apps and will end up eating about 12 gigs of data in about a week of streaming just one hour long show per day (which is my entire monthly plan)... So basically this app only works if you are in your own home on your network WiFi, but if I’m at home I’m just going to watch my recordings on my TV and not on my phone, so this app is completely useless. If I could give it zero stars I would. And before you suggest to me to reboot my phone, or uninstall the app and reinstall it again, I have already done those things multiple times..Version: 5.9.005

Direct Tv appWould give it 5 stars if it didn’t glitch and freeze so much. Every time I try to watch shows or movies it would freeze or say show is not available when it should be. For example, if an episode of something aired the night before and I’ve been able to get a start on that episode, when I try to resume it, it says show is not available and it does it constantly where it gets really annoying. Another issue is that it freezes a lot. Third issue, I cannot fast forward to resume where I left off on an episode. Last issue, sometimes when I try to watch something it says I don’t have the channel subscription, yet I have it on my actual television? App needs to be fixed, other than that, it’s easy to navigate and I like how you can view old seasons (e.g. 2011-present) viewings..Version: 5.5.004

Screwed Royally!DON’T DO IT!!! Well at start up..promised you the world and ended up with just a 2 year contract!! Tried to move service to an RV and told we needed all the same equipment. In the end found out home equipment isn’t even compatible with an RV. Now being charged for services that were not even used due to being in storage due to inaccurate information!!! Spent two and a half hours on phone with multiple people trying to resolve issue and ended up speaking with a supervisor named Latanna just to be informed she can only give a $25 credit! We have been with AT&T for years and depending on what suits the company best depends on when they are the same company. Tried everything to resolve this issue and in so many words being informed that customers continuing being customers does NOT matter. We will never be a customer again and rethink our phone service! Fortunately we haven’t signed a new phone service with all of our equipment so we will renew our 4 phones with another company! Rethink before you sign with this company!!! Asked supervisor for corporates phone number and was informed they are NOT allowed to give the number out. What kind of company is not available to their customers?? It works with some glitches but last update killed Apple TV mirroring.Bring back Apple TV mirroring to cellphones registered to an AT&T wireless plan with DirecTV account. The mobile app is excellent when you are away from the home and most glitches can be corrected by restarting the app. My main problem is that they disabled Apple TV mirroring function and the DirecTV app complains that screen recording is on. I understand that the content providers would not approve screen recording but Apple TV mirroring just allows you to see your shows in a bigger screen. An iPad has a decent size screen but not cellphones. When you can use Apple TV with a cellphone registered to an AT&T account with DirecTV, you should be able to mirror. It limits the use to just the paying subscribers. Please bring back Apple TV mirroring to make it useful for those than can take advantage of an available Apple TV..Version: 5.7.002

TRASH TRASH TRASHStay away from this provider and the app. The app is constantly broke and in the rare chance you can actually log in it’s so glitchy you can’t use it. Horrible customer service and you do NOT get what you pay for. I signed up for directv with the promise of a $300 reward card and all the features of the app blah blah blah. The card finally came a month later but it was only for $100 I went round and round with customer service and they finally issued another card to equal the promised amount. I spent 3mo trying to fix my issue with the app. I spoke to agent after agent and my case was escalated about 100 times with the promise all my issues would be fixed in 24-48hrs. I kept getting text of appointment times for “technicians” to come out that I never discussed nor agreed to. What the heck is an in home technician going to do for the app?? My boxes constantly displayed an error message that there were too many boxes linked to my account and I would have to call customer service to fix it. Then a few days later it would do it again. No longer works - Fix your issues!Had this app for 2 years and it worked great. A week ago it stopped accepting my login, tried to reset it, and keep getting an unknown error. Spent 7 hours total trying to get it resolved with DirectTv and nothing! I have an ATT bundle with DirectTV. Even when I try to log in on their site it says I’m using an ATT login. Technical support is no help, they just transfer me to 10 different people and each time I have to start at the beginning of the story, but they’re sorry for the inconvenience. Then they transfer me to DirectTV Now, which they tried to get me to pay another $35 a month for, on top of what I’m paying for cable. Fix this! If you’re truly one company with ATT, act like it. When the app does let me log in, it redirects me to download the ATT app in the App Store. There’s no way to stream through the ATT app, but I can pay my bill. Whatever the developers did to the app, it no longer works. Please fix or I will switch providers. All the credits and apologies don’t negate the fact that I can’t stream my shows on my phone when I’m out..Version: 5.8.006

Worst app by an even worse parent companyI’ve had problems with this app not working correctly for years. The latest problem for months now is when I check the guide for the AHC channel. Although it’s part of my channel lineup, I get a message saying, “No programming available, please check another channel.” Seriously?? Over the years I’ve tried so hard to get help with this app’s issues. I’ve called many times and have chatted many times with their website reps and with reps on their Facebook page. They ask me all the same questions...”Have you tried this and have you tried that?” After replying “YES” to several such questions the same exact thing ALWAYS happens. I’m told my case is being “escalated” and a technician will contact me. Then nobody ever does!! But over the years I’ve come to realize their reps will say ANYTHING to appease you and get you off their backs. The AT&T reps with Directv, U-Verse and all their other subsidiaries are world class liars!!!!!.Version: 5.8.006

Absolute worst app ever!!This is such a sad attempt at a tv app I’ve ever had the displeasure of using. I had Comcast xfinity prior to signing up with Directv and I wish I had never changed services. The xfinity app wasn’t great, but it was leaps and bounds ahead of Directv. I’m running the latest iOS on my iPhone X with the most current update for the Directv app, and it runs like garbage. When the Directv app is constantly crashing, it doesn’t work right. 90% of the live tv stations don’t work. I constantly get an error alert that says there’s a network problem even though I have a perfect signal with 4G LTE speeds. Doesn’t matter where I’m at or what time of day I try to use it, the app is pretty much useless. I can’t even watch the on demand features because they don’t work most of the time either. The app doesn’t even work at home when I’m connected to the Directv modem. It’s so frustrating! Directv’s customer service is also useless. If you’re still shopping around for a decent provider with a good app for your mobile devices, I would HIGHLY recommend NOT going with Directv. For such a huge company, you’d think ATT/Directv could put out a halfway decent product, but alas it’s just a huge disappointment..Version: 5.16.008

Borderline uselessThere are many things wrong with this app if you are using it for the express purpose of watching something on TV. First, it takes a very long time to load, and when you tap on the channel you want to watch, it asks if you want to watch it on your iPhone. If I am using an iPhone to access this channel, why are you asking me if I want to watch it on my iPhone? Is that not obvious? Then, if you switch apps, upon returning to the DirecTV app, you have to go through the entire process all over again. Also, and perhaps this is what really breaks this app, is I am using this to watch TV (usually sports), on data. I have an unlimited plan with AT&T, and when I use this app it says I am using “data free TV”, fine, but it doesn’t matter since I have an unlimited plan anyway. It forces the picture into SD, which renders any sporting event completely unwatchable. If I cannot comfortably watch something on this app, then it really has no point of even existing..Version: 5.18.002

Having problemsIn December 2018 I put in my information to open it up so I can watch my TV while away from home, when I went in to put my password for some reason it is not taking it and it flips me all the way back to the app., I called DirecTV and talk to someone and they help me through changing my password but then the minute I get off the phone with DirecTV and put the password on the app it doesn’t work can somebody please tell me how to get back into my app without it having issues and going back-and-forth into the App Store? Now it is two months later and the app is saying my email/At&t access id is incorrect. I went to my local At&t store and the rep there even tried on her phone and it did the same thing. It will not let me put in my email for the forgot user Id/password. It glitches out and send me back to the beginning on her phone as well. App Consistently FailsI utilize this app everyday as I work away from home. I rely on it to stay current with my favorite shows. However, it consistently fails... everyday... every time I use it. It either doesn't open, doesn't load the guide, doesn't smoothly stream content, locks up, kicks you out of the app, etc. I have better luck using the apps for other networks like USA for example. I can view shows without the same issues Directv throws at me; with each use. Just tonight I attempted to view the Game of Thrones season finale. The episode continuously locked up, and for the first time it jumped to previous shown previews while still showing it was in the middle of Game of Thrones in accordance with the time bar on the menu. I am watching Baller's as I write this, and the video is locking up while the audio continues. This needs to be fixed. Gotta give it one star to submit; if not I'd give it no stars. Customer serviceMy two biggest complaints about direct tv is one, the customer service rep I delt with had very little knowledge of the service that they provide, regarding the deal and options that I have had for several years and the rep wanted to take away one of the perks away that was giving to me as a valued customer and was in my contract and it would save me money. But again this perk was giving to me because I’m an AT&T customer. So taking it away wasn’t going to save me money at all when it was a freebie. And another thing thing is it’s too expensive for what I watch which is basically maybe 2 hours a week. This is strike number 2. Strike 3 well I’ll take my business elsewhere. But what do they care I’m just a number and a cash cow for direct tv. Bad decision AT&T to partnership with a company like this. Dish maybe my other option. AT&T your fine but , Direct tv poor customer service all the way around that has been my dealing with them..Version: 5.16.008

Handy if it worked, but frequently frustratingUPDATE FOR LATEST RELEASE: Now it just doesn’t even get you past a login screen. Tells you that you have an invalid business name or have entered an invalid character (despite using stored login info from passkey) then goes straight to the App Store DirecTV page in a never ending loop. Trashed it reloaded it numerous times. No longer lets me view on ANY devices. Might be time to stop paying DirecTV for TV I can’t see. Leaving here to search for alternative providers. At least it's a free app. I've wasted waaaay too much time deleting and reinstalling, etc to try to get it to work. Tonight for example, a couple of hours' worth of time trying to get it to work. After 4 years, my 2 centsEvery year, my monthly rate goes up by $50. I call in and get it reduced by paying the bill that has the increase and then they renew the promotional rate they started me out with to lower my bill. Last time I was told to call on the 11th month and prevent the increase asking for a renewal. I did so but was informed by the customer loyalty department that because I am currently in a promotional cycle I cannot add another promotion to it until it expires. I am now paying 30% more per month than a new subscriber but cannot cancel and register as a new customer for two years preventing me from saving money for the same service they are offering to current new customers. Can’t watch away from homeSays I can’t watch away from home. It says “to tune to this show, your phone must be connected to the same network as your receiver.” Worthless app. Been watching it for two Sundays while away from home. I always have trouble trying to use this app away from home. Have no need to use my phone for tv at home. Either they made changes to my account or they are screwing with the app again and taking away more services. Pay too much to not be able to watch from anywhere like they claim. Reason I endure their outrageous pricing is so I can watch shows when not at home. Another issue is they don’t allow to fast forward on shows. I’ve had the app close on me several times the last couple weeks. Then I have to watch an entire episode again to catch the last 3-5 minutes of the show..Version: 6.1.002

Crap appWatching DTV via usb cable from my iPad (traveling and out of state) to my tv. Not a great system but it worked (Btw: that”take it with you “ is a lie!!! And in addition, they push their DTV Now subscription for users to be able to watch via fire tv, etc). And network stations are out of the question entirely. I digress! Anyway, streaming msnbc and BOOM! Kicks me off and the message says a cute little “whoops! You used an invalid character “ NOT!!!!! Stayed up trying to fix it. On the phone with customer service 4.5 hours!!! Still not fixed (up to 72 hours!!!!). Oh and get this: their tech support team CLOSED AT NIGHT!!!!!! Grrrrrr! The first customer service lady said that they were having “problems with the app” and had many complaints. . . I’ll just bet that she got into a pile of crap for telling the truth. Tonight is the third customer service person who hung up “accidentally “ and never called me back. In my opinion, DTV has been a freakin’ mess since att took it over. Seems Directv and AT&T aren’t mixing wellSince AT&T came aboard I have had to sign back into the Directv app on several occasions. I had to sign in once again 2 days ago. When the app opened up I had a limited selection of the channels that I have always had. I deleted the app and restarted it and still limited. It’s telling me that I need to upgrade my package. So I call Directv which is now AT&T and after 50 plus minutes I was told I needed to upgrade my equipment in my home. He could not tell me how my house receivers have anything to do with streaming to my AT&T plan mobile phone. So I called again and another 50 plus minutes later I was told pretty much the same thing. This time I was told that they were forwarding my issue to the technical department and that I would hear back from them by text or email when the problem was fixed. The app has now become next to useless as I’ve lost most all the stations I watch. Sad.Version: 5.15.004

Terrible Communication, Ghost ChargesNever chose this company. I was a loyal directv customer for years and dealt with numerous issues, starting with them raising the prices each and every year without notice, slower internet speeds and high costs. On top of that, the apartment complex I was living in in the past was closed down forcing over 150 residents to move out within 30 days notice, and now Directv is trying to charge me with a hefty $300 fine for “early cancellation”. When I called to notify them of the change, they ensured me there would be no charge and now I cannot get ahold of anybody from this excuse of a company in regards to this. They instead sent the bill directly to a collections agency. I call the collections company and they tell me to speak with directv, I call directv and they tell me to talk to the collection company. I have asked for the copy of this so called “contract” and have been provided with nothing. I will not recommend this company to anybody moving forward until this issue is resolved..Version: 5.17.102

Could be betterWhenever using the app every so often the screen will just go black for a few seconds skipping vital moments of programming. If I rewind it , it just happens again. Why is this happening? There’s no real way to fast forward through commercials. On demand has way too many ads that you cannot skip. Makes no sense. This is the only service I’ve ever had where you pay for the service and have to watch ads while watching on demand programs. If you record something half way through a program it starts several seconds after hitting record. Not like the former cable optics where if you hit record it starts from the beginning. Not only is that not an option it actual starts seconds after hitting record. I don’t know if I’d refer this product. I think it has a long way to go. I was told the price would never go up, but guess what? It did in under a year..Version: 6.1.002

Worst app ever!Ever since the merger with AT&T, DIRECTV service has gone from great to horrible! I have been a customer for over twenty years and am now loosing my patience with this downhill trend. The app rarely works and when it does it crashes after about an hour and I have to reload the app on my IPad. When I hit the guide for live tv on my iPad the channel guide is all over the place. The programs are all over the place. My regular service from DIRECTV has caused me contact technicians on at least 10-12 occasions to modify my home connections for my service to operate. The only thing that has kept me with this inept service is the NFL Pass, but now I have learned that you can get the pass on your computer without having DIRECTV service. So the days of this bad service is soon coming to an end. I think that DIRECTV took on more than it could handle when they took on AT&T and there service reflects it. I would not recommend DIRECTV,s app or service at this time..Version: 5.6.003

Direct TV is lameI had Direct TV for the duration of my subscription and then some and couldn’t wait to get rid of it! The screen would freeze on us or would pixelate, it would separate the pixels and distort the picture for a period of time, sometimes up to 15 mins. We had a tech come out and switch all of our boxes and we sent those back only to have AT&T call us about a year later asking me where The genie was and that I had moved or canceled my subscription. I said, that was like a year ago, I sent that back to you and still had Direct TV at this time and haven’t moved in 5 to 6 years! Another thing that irritates me is when you go to on Demand, you can’t FF through commercials! What’s up with that??? Another thing is during storms you lose signal so the TV goes out, now I live in Tornado alley and really like to have my news channels for this reason so I like my local channels that I no longer had due to the signal being lost! Having a family, that’s a MUST HAVE in my book, yes I have other means of knowing a twister is coming, that’s not the point, if your smart, you KNOW what the point is, nuff said! App does not even workI’ve been having trouble with my app for over a month. AT&T says they cannot help me and always refers me to DirecTV. DirecTV says AT&T should be more educated and try to help me first before directing me to them, so I’m under the impression neither want to help and it’s been on going but it doesn’t matter. No one ever calls me back to help solve the issue. My app always says Error unknown error and when I click OK, it takes me to the apple App Store and I’m not in need of any update, so I click Open and it takes me back to the app. I enter my password if it lets me and sometimes it just says the same error message, and it just goes back and forth from that and the App Store. Very frustrating. The last time it let me log in it says my password was expired. I entered my password and then I got the same stupid error message again. They really need to fix it..Version: 5.25.502

Absolute trashI really hate reviewing things poorly, but I’ve struggled with this app, Tim’s and again, for multiple years. Ideally I try to use it to watch/listen to a sporting event while working in a room in my house without a TV. But alas, all I get is repeated errors. Seriously I’m not trying to watch somewhere else, but only in my own home connected to the same WiFi my directv receiver is on. There are multiple error messages from I’m already streaming something (I’m not) or that my receiver is in use. Or nothing at all. I’m not just talking about the regional sports networks but just over the air network broadcasts. I most often get the same problems with regular shows too. Don’t believe the old commercials where the walbergs stream anything wherever they are. This app doesn’t work. Now please don’t get me wrong, o love the satellite service and the wireless box options inside the home, but their app is trash. Absolute trash. Despite all of my problems with it, I keep giving it the college try only to get frustrated again. Don’t bother with this garbage. I gave it one star because once in a while I can watch a network broadcast of a news or game show, but everything else fails..Version: 5.25.502

Not a reliable app for service nor performanceDon’t believe that you can take your DirecTV where ever you go. First, you won’t get all the channels you pay for in the app (I have the premium pkg), you get even less if you leave home because the app detects you’re not at home and therefore tell you need to be on your home network to work, WHICH DEFEATS THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF HAVING AN APP ON A MONKIE PHONE. Also if travel try to connect any TV, it gives a fake error message to lead you to believe the video is not being blocked, but it is. You can hear the audio but no video which means they’re blocking the video with HDCP. Content you purchased won’t even play if connected to a TV. Today I’ve been trying to follow the election just on my phone while going to stores in my local area, it’s been 50/50 connecting with 3-4 signal bars. Half the time I was getting an error message for playback. I’d have to close the app to resolve the issue. This app use to work very well, I could go over my lady’s house and we watch my premium series together. Now it’s instability & faulty features make it literally the worse app on my phone..Version: 5.23.003
