✓ Amazing!I love this app, it is so comprehensive! The various menus are a little confusing at first because there's just so many options but the help section is really useful and clears things up. There are loads of different ways to study for this - ranging from the order you study them (all in order, or repeating cards you get wrong in a set etc), to using multiple choice or writing them out. It took me a while to get to know how to use it properly because you have such a range of options, but now that I do, I wouldn't study without it. Create flashcard = Slide 1 - Chinese character Slide 2- Pinyin, Slide 3- English, Slide 4 - Examples of the phrase in use. Then you can say the sound and save it to the card.... This allows me to test to see if I know what a card means and it's pinyin very easily. Then I just change the slide dispay order and, suddenly I can be shown the pinyin first and see if I can write the Character. Stunning stuff. This makes it better than any other flash card application on the market that i've easily paid 4 times more for, as well, they only let you work within the limits of the characters they give you, this app however, lets you do whatever you want. If you want to test yourself on what a picture is, maybe even record some of a song in a foreign language and test if you understand that, whatever you want. I've created a set of High Frequency Reception School Words for my 4yr old and recorded his own voice saying the words. He loves it, especially when he sometimes gets mum's voice every now and again. I'll be creating more sets soon, so easy. One thing I haven't yet worked out though, is how to start a fresh round, it always seems to continue from where left off which isn't great for seeing a 'right' percentage. The biggest pluses for me are that you can draw the cards or type them, add pictures (and even annotate them), put the cards into different categories based on how well you know the material, randomize the order of the cards, repeat only the ones you got wrong, change which side of the card is shown first, and search for certain cards. But dig a little deeper, and it has everything you’ll ever need from a flash card app. Spaced repetition is the way to go, and FD takes care of all the flashcard management chores, so you can focus on your goal: Learning! I'm using it to learn Russian, and the online upload feature allowed me to load an Excel spreadsheet of 10,000 Russian words, definitions, and example sentences. Cyrillic script? No problem. Makes it so much easier to add drawings to your flashcards (otherwise you need to open another app, draw something, save, then export to this app, etc.) 2) has the ability to have multiple sides on each card which is huge 3) has the ability to add notes to each card, to help you remember stuff 4) has the ability to draw your answers while reviewing or quizzing yourself on the flashcards; i'm a bit more of a visual learner, so sometimes I like to doodle to help myself understand things better or work through a problem. Also, the app won't save these drawings, so you don't have to erase once you're done; think of it like scratch paper alongside your flashcards. 5) can be exported to your pc via usb. Having a cloud and being able to export/import via google drive is good too, but if the app ever stops being supported, I know that I can always still backup and update via my cpu. ✓ This is how a Flashcard app should beThis is a fantastic app, it took me a little while to get into creating and editing the cards within the app, but now I'm there - it's great. I'm learning Mandarin, so I need 3 levels (you can have more), one for the Chinese characters, one for the pinyin (romanisation) and one for the translation. I particularly like the feature that allows me to see the Chinese characters and can type the pinyin, it tells you which letters (including tone marks) you did not get right (an option in the settings). If you got something it marks the card as not known - no cheating! I tried several other apps all of which fell short of what I needed, this app however exceeded my needs and expectations. ✓ The best of the best. A must have for those who love to learnThis is an incredible feature rich flash card application. I was easily able to build a picture flash card deck for my daughter study her geography and I loved building a custom audio flash deck with personal recordings to learn a second language. The export and full backup features are seamless with dropbox. You can export individual decks or multiple decks. The flexibility this application gives you to learn the material is awesome. You can auto-play like power point, choose to play the audio clips or not, manually browse the deck at your own pace, or go through it like a quiz and it will keep track of your score during each session + keep a running total (I love the shuffle deck feature and the category feature. You can categorize your cards into groups by topic and study one, some or all categories). If you want to update your cards on a bulk basis you have the convenience of using Microsoft Excel (check out youtube on how to easily work with Excel and the decks for this application). There's simply no better IOS Flash Card application that I've seen that even comes close to the features this one has. It is easily worth a $20 application for those seriously wanting to build their own self paced custom study material. $5 is a steal. The author allows you try the light version to see how it works so you absolutely can't go wrong on this. I quickly purchased the $5 full version and I have it loaded on both my i-phone and i-pad. ✓ I absolutely love this AppI've been using this App for a couple of years for Spanish vocabulary and it is absolutely fantastic, and as a bonus 'Ernie' is extremely responsive to any question or request. It has loads of useful features (to the other reviewer, you can already move cards, but as mentioned there are loads of features so it takes a little while to find them all, tho the ? Help is clear and simple). I use 'Spaced Repetition' as it changes the period the the card showing up again according to your correctness/confidence in answering it. You can download decks or make your own - words, phrases, whatever you like, and you can then add sound, even to your own creations, to help with pronunciation. I tried so many and yet here we are three to four years later and this is still the best. The main reasons I like this app are because it allows you to add sounds and pictures to cards on the iPhone and supports exporting and importing as well (meaning you can backup your data). Finally the ability to study individual decks but also group them into folders makes organising what you want to learn so much easier. Four reasons: you can have up to 5 cards per word, so if you are switching to monolingual you can have sentence, Japanese image, with sound and hiragana, and on the third English key word that you don’t need to look at if you remember it first time. It has a couple of key features that only a few other titles on the App Store have: 1) support for multi-sided cards, up to 5 sides. This allows you to create dynamic cards with far more info than just Q&A. For language learning you can add example sentences, pronunciation guides, mnemonics etc. 2) it syncs across your devices using your Dropbox account. This works really well. Being able to download tons of ready made decks makes it invaluable. And having Text to Speech, font import, , custom background, many study modes, Dropbox and iCloud backup, syncing all built in? I am absolutely amazed! I am using Flashcard Deluxe to create decks to help my kids learn both Cantonese and Mandarin and they are having fun with it. They can customise the look of their decks, have a space to draw/write the characters, and listen to both the built in pronunciation and my own recordings. It really helps cementing their learning. I have also been using FCD to quickly generate training slides of learning material in order to create training videos. ✓ Excellent Flashcard appThis flashcard app imo has more versatility/options than any of the other FC apps and it's incredibly easy to use. I use it for learning French and have created over 10,000 cards so far. It's an excellent way for me to create an inventory of all the new words I come across while learning them in my various courses, books and so on. I see a new word, I add it, put it's English equivalent on side 2, side 3 I state whether it's a verb, masc or fem noun etc, side 4 a French definition. I test in 2 directions with the same deck. I have French and English speech so I can hear the words if I want to (although I don't really use that feature much as I prefer to read the words out loud) and with the multiple card layout options I have made it so I see all 4 card sides in 2 different orders (1 begins with my French definition, then the English translation, then the actual French word with examples, then the fourth side is the word class (verb, noun etc). Then I test in a second direction in which the English is the 'answer'. Anyway very customizable. Totally recommended.
