Unfortunatly each chapter has a different monotone reader and the 'this is a Libribox recording....' every chapter is so frustrating but if you can handle that it is great. ✓ Audio book app...greatttt mate!I have just recently updated this app. The app is very nice and simple to use. In regard deleting items, it would be nice to be able to delete from the device and have easy access for upload at another time. To the detriment of being aware of what's happening (news wise) I use this app any time I go for a drive. Some of those audio book people are 10 star when it comes to bringing stories alive. And those that aren't WELL at least they're doing something AND thanks to them ALL I get to hear some yarns that I wouldn't other wise get a chance to hear. ✓ Great fun!I really enjoy this app and use it frequently. My literary interests have almost always dwelt in long ago and lesser known titles, and this app gives me access to tomes nearly impossible to find anywhere else. I give it only four stars because the search function can be rather problematic. For example; I’ll search for titles written by a certain author and only be given a few choices, but if I look up that author under the actual Authors section, there are dozens more. Or I’ll search for a title and the results give about twenty other titles along with it that seem to have no connection to that title at all. Sometimes this is because my title was mentioned in the description of the other books, but other times not. There have been other difficulties with the search function, but for the sake of conciseness, I won’t mention them here. I have also noticed that many of the titles available on the Librivox website are not available here; I’m not sure if the reason for this, but it would be great to have access to them as well. Also, it can be very time consuming to find a title that captures my interest and holds onto it as well, so I wanted to suggest the addition of a “recommended for you” section that brings up available titles based on your previous listening selections. I believe this would seriously streamline the process and increase the enjoyment of your app. Thanks! Tami.Version: 7.2

✓ Without doubt Best Audio Book AppWould give it 10 stars if I could. I am a professional voice Tutor and English teacher so sound and voice quality is very important to me. Have tried all other audio readers at length and over a couple of years this surpasses them all , most other audiobook apps are very poor or unuseable, or have limited library access. This has a brilliant intuitive interface a decent intelligent library, the text starts off where I left off , even one year later, on all devices so if I go out with my phone the story starts in the same place, that I heard it on my ipad at home. This applies to numerous texts so I can pick up and drop in on books just like I used to as a reader. I love the soft Canadian accents of the readers, georgeos surprise to my ears. You can choose texts by your favorite reader or by genres or by auther. Great collection of stories I love Edith Wharton. You can rewind a chapters or fast forward and hear it again. You can set it to play for a time or wake you in the morning. Its got everything you could possibly want. If your short of space on your device then dont download a whole book. the whole downloading interface is also very intuitive. You build a library that will wait until you download it. ✓ Excellent!This is amongst my favourite apps, a visit to the linked web site will give an idea of the vast scale of the project & range of titles on offer. Many popular works exist in several versions so if the voice of one reader doesn't please you can select another (or volunteer to read yourself)! As to complaints in earlier reviews that there are too many American accents and that these lack authenticity it's perhaps worth reflecting on the changes to spoken English that have taken place since many of these classic works was written. Would authors from even the first part of the 20th century find current London English any more familiar than New York English? That said there are some excellent English English readers, eg Martin Clifton's rendition of Queen Lucia by E. F. Benson - a free book that gives a wonderful insight on middle England between the wars with much humour. I haven't experienced any technical problems with the app on iPhone or iPod touch. Not yet tried on iPad but will certainly download. Great to download and listen off line while travelling in Europe. The LibriVox project merits support as, in my view, does this app..Version: 0

✓ Good books, Okay narratingI have enjoyed these books so much! I got Audiobooks Plus, which is somewhat better. Some narrators are good, but the quality varies. I had to stop reading one audiobook because I could barely understood what they said. And another Plus book was read by a child. Not an enjoyable read. But you can sometimes get a good reader. Overall, if you want to hear a book, regardless of how you hear it, this is the place to go. The Sherlock Holmes reading is excellent (If you do the ones by David Clarke.) The narrators are rather hit and miss as some of the other reviews have pointed out but you do get to recognise your favourite narrators and you can search that way which is quite helpful and actually the narrators I prefer also seem to share my taste in literature - ideal! Its a basic ap and considering it's free I would definitely recommend downloading it I have discovered many of the classics that I haven't ever considered reading but now love and it does have a handy sleep timer. ✓ Great for a free app 👍For a free app I think it's really very good. I am currently listening to The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes before bed and I am loving it. OK, so some of the narrators maybe not the best but some are very good (provided you don't mind accents). I can see some of the reviews are negative regarding the narrators (the narrators are volunteers!) but accents different to my own don't worry me so I didn't find my enjoyment affected on the whole. A few were hard to understand, but not many. The choice might be limited for you if you only enjoy 'blockbusters' and modern literature but if your reading choices are wider there will be PLENTY there for you. Enjoy! ✓ Best audio library for classical litThe biggest problem I have with other audio-book apps is that in many cases they only offer abridged versions, so it’s really just an interpretation of a work. Not here, you get the original version by the author. The recordings vary in quality, there have been a few that were so bad, I couldn’t even listen to them, but some are as good as the pay sites and read by pro readers. Also, I highly recommend forking over the $10 for the featured audiobooks, it’s such a great value! I’ve listened to about 60 books from this app..Version: 7.3.2

Well I listened and, it’s a play and it even has a reader for every role, not just a clear and concise voice to convey the literature but a play. Put 7 ppl in 7 sound rooms to blend like it on a sound board as is standard, then to mix them and with no audio track in the back is so much harder than doing so with music. You could go from playing it back to your library easily now all the buttons are jammed at the bottom in a soon as you click on preview the book immediately starts to play. ✓ Fantastic Books Ready In a MomentThis has got to be the most brilliant app ever created! I have listened to books whilst travelling, doing chores and in leisure time. And have fallen asleep with the comfort of well read prose and poetry to relax me and give me pleasant dreams. (The sleep timer is great!) The brilliance of this app is the following: a easy to use format; a huge variety of books which can be searched by theme, length or narrator; clear narration which has brought the feelings of the narrative alive; and a quick download system to download an entire book to your mobile in minutes as opposed to hours. For over six months I have had the joy to listen to my favourite books, discover new authors, and brave some books which I had previously considered too challenging in terms of length and the classic nature of some weightier Victorian literature. I am 84 and haven't been much of a book reader & Audio Books have really opened up a lovely new world for me. I was an avid film fan when young & I suppose that left me not much time to read , but funnily enough one film that I remembered so well was "Little Lord Fauntleroy" with Freddie Bartholomew & Spence Tracy I was very young then but always remembered it now somebody said that it was taken from the book by this same wonderful author(hope I'm right) so it seems I am going full circle. ✓ Wonderful!I love this app, it's one of my favourites. The sleep timer is a thing of genius! I use it most nights to help me sleep and the timer is so handy, I haven't lost my place once. To the people complaining about the readers: they are volunteers, you cannot expect perfection. I personally have no complaints regarding the readers. All the books I have listened to have had excellent readers. They may occasionally stumble over a word or two (very rarely), or you can sometimes hear the pages of the books turning as they read, but it does not detract from the recording itself. The books are not modern, they are all public domain books, out of copyright. It is ridiculous to expect anything else from a FREE app. Overall, I think this app is amazing. Why should these be free just because you have an iPhone. (Use the app Overdrive for new books and download them for free from your local library, like a loan for 21 days ) But with this app I am reading older books I missed including Zane Grey, Edgar Wallace and classics such as Sherlock Holmes and Jeeves stories.
