Sleep Cycle - Sleep Tracker for Negative User Reviews

Does not detect when I’m awake in the nightI have insomnia and wake up several times each night and wanted to track how much sleep I actually get. To test this app I purposely cough twice each time I’m awake, the sleep data shows me coughing but often states I am asleep when, in fact, I am awake. Also, I get up at least twice a night to go to the bathroom, I cough twice on waking and twice again on returning to bed a few minutes later. The app shows me as coughing whilst asleep (often showing me in deep sleep), even when I have got up and I am not in the bedroom. Can’t trust the app data, it is not accurate. I forgot to turn it off when I woke up one morning and it showed me as being in deep sleep when I was laying in bed, wide awake, watching television!.Version: 6.15.2

Charging fees without notice!!!Got charge 34$ for 1 year renewal without any notification whatsoever... worse part of it is I erased the app a year and a half ago and don’t even have it on my phone anymore!!! I WANT MY MONEY BACK !!!.Version: 5.4.4

Hard to believe all data is true and correctI’ve had the app for a couple of weeks now and nearly everyday it says I fall asleep after 3 minutes which I know is simply not true. Last night for example, I tossed and turned for at least 15 mins before falling asleep. Additionally I will often wake up during the set “wake period”, but without the alarm having gone off. If the app is supposed to be sensing when I’m in my lightest stage of sleep, why is it not sensing that I’m about to wake up, or at the very least going off once I’m actually awake (moving around a lot, breathing differently)? Furthermore, the app is not accurately depicting the amount of times I wake through the night, showing only one period of wakefulness on nights I know I was awake at least a couple of times. Unfortunately I feel as though the app has almost worsened my quality of sleep as I’ve become more acutely aware of sleep quality/periods of wakefulness, wanting to compare to the apps data every morning having spent so much money on it. I’m pretty keen to get my money back, or at the very least get some feedback from the developers on how to improve its functionality (though I have been using it as per instructions). I run the app on a less than one year old iPhone XR. I’ve awarded 3 stars because the interface is really well designed, and the data presentation and breakdown is slick and thorough. I can’t give higher than that though because I know factually that some of the data is not accurate.Version: 6.2.1

PayingI think it is the most outrageous thing that you have to pay to listen to your own sleeptalking what is the point anyone that is paying for this app sorry but you’re not a very smart person and I definitely think it would be better choosing another app that doesn’t make you pay for it that’s why I voted one star this app when I first went onto it it said pay for a premium and I just didn’t do it and I went the night and I woke up and I said that I do sleep talk a lot but when I go to listen to them I have to pay I’m not doing that so come back to me when you’re free and whoever made this app is stupid very stupid people aren’t gonna pay money to listen to their sleep talking and if they do there is a rich or stupid.Version: 6.21.1

Was great until it was creepyI loved this app but I don’t feel comfortable using it after discovering that two accounts using the same wifi network and the microphone will link, which shows other people when you’ve gone to sleep. Imagine trying to use it in a dormitory or hotel. I do understand that my data isn't being shared in the way a product team might think of data, but it does share when I've gone to bed with people who absolutely should not have that information. I really think the product team at Northcube AB hasn't put enough thought into personal safety. Unfortunately, I can't see myself continuing to use the app without being able to turn off the automatic linking. It's simply a matter of not being able to trust the product team to make good decisions..Version: 6.4.4

Beware!!I deleted the app after a week because I didn’t want the subscription service and it ended up charging 35$ for a year subscription. It’s pretty ridiculous that the business model is based off of hoping that you forget to cancel the subscription. I’m all for charging for a product but don’t be shady about it..Version: 5.5.2

Not as easy to use as it looksSo it’s not DIFFICULT but I have it set to automatically record but it doesn’t seem to or at least I can’t tell because when I open the app in the morning it automatically has me set my wake up time and sleep alarm and then stop it. So then I check the sleep journal to see if it recorded at night at it ALMOST looks like I did except I can’t fully see it or access it. There’s a little blurb at the bottom that won’t go away about the journal being there to show what it recorded with the information faded in the background. It makes me feel like maybe that’s just sample information, plus I can’t get the blurb to B go away to really read it or click on anything and everything else is premium. I can’t see stats because that’s premium to figure out if that’s my sleep info or not. And I can’t really read the journal and when I open the app it looks like I haven’t even started sleeping. Yet somehow my profile says I have records that I can’t find or access…. So is this app for strangers to figure out my sleeping Pattern via some weird remote monitoring through an app???? Or can I actually use it for my own knowledge? I’ll try this app for one more week on the chance that it’s user error but if I’m that time I haven’t figured out hope to use it not only will I not subscribe to premium I will uninstall and lower my rating to 1 star. Really hoping I’m just a dingbat because I like the over all look and set up.Version: 6.22.11

Apple Watch?App dissppeared from Apple Watch without warning nor explanation.Version: 6.1.2

Doesn’t Track Waking in NightAfter using app consistently for weeks, it never picks up every time I wake up in the night. I will even check my phone for the time and it still says I was asleep when I wake up several times in the night. Will not continue to use if it’s going to be inaccurate.Version: 6.23.40

Inaccurate readingsI have been using the free version for around 3 years now. More out of habit than anything else. The readings are always wrong, saying I’m asleep when I’m actually awake Said I was coughing when I wasn’t it was actually a bird. Also since I have used this app it says I snore which I have never done in my life. I’m still trying to work out what it is picking up. One of the most recent changes to the free version is so annoying, a recording that is 47 mins long, so boring it is unbelievable. I have to keep switching it off. This horrible feature comes on automatically and it is the only free one. Every night I switch it off. Also who wants to listen to something for the best part of an hour when they are trying to go to sleep? That is absolutely ridiculous. This alone will make me uninstall and stop using the app. I think the developers are going the wrong way about this. Who will pay for this app when the only free one is the most boring recording ever that they have to switch it off? That again is ridiculous. As far as I’m concerned this app has gone from good to poor and definitely not worth even having it downloaded, in the 3 years I have been using it. I’m uninstalling it today..Version: 6.22.23

Great appI like this app. I've compared it to other sleep apps and it's graphs seem to match other apps..Version: 5.4.3

It is nice when it works but....Tried this out for a few weeks and tried to primarily use the Apple Watch instead of the phone to see how the watch app works. First, there is no option to change between hours and minutes so you must twist the crown for an unnecessary amount of time in order to change your alarm from 6 AM to 11AM. Second, you cannot use it WITHOUT the alarm which bothersome when you would rather just track the sleep and not use an alarm. Finally, it does not sync to Apple health consistently if using only the Apple Watch. I never slept to the alarm that I set, which was usually set to 11 AM so I would switch it off before the alarm hit. Sometimes it would sync to Apple health but most nights it would not. I would even get an alert on my phone saying it did sync to Apple health then I would open the app and find that there was no information for that night. Kind of a big strike against a sleep tracker for the watch if it cannot stand alone from its iPhone app when it advertises as such. The app for the phone works fine by itself. I didn’t really see a noticeable difference in tracking when using the phone app versus the watch app, however, with all the issues I mentioned above, I am not sure how this ended up an “editor’s choice” when there are some obvious problems with both the design and operation of the watch app..Version: 6.9

InaccurateI have been using the app to test it for accuracy as I generally only get around 5 hours of sleep then am awake for the rest of the night. I listened to a sleep story to fall sleep. The sleep stories I tried use sound effects which are off putting and startling (eg piano lid closing in one) or music that sounds off key/badly tuned piano. It showed me as falling asleep within 8 minutes when I was still listening to the story. So I tried to talk during the sleep story by saying “I’m awake” but it doesn’t seem to have the capacity to record sound when a sleep story is playing. Also said “I’m still awake” multiple times during the night when I was awake and that was reflected as “sleep talking” when I was clearly awake to be consciously saying that I was awake. If you get up during the night you need to remember to take your phone with you otherwise it thinks you’re asleep. I’m hoping I have Cancelled my subscription before it bills me as I won’t bother using the app again..Version: 6.23.9

App crashes during the nightSecond time the app crashes during the night. It made me miss my first class. I’m going back to more reliable alarms..Version: 6.20

Pretty good,I’m coming back to this ap after a while—- I can’t find the works trends?? Only thing that I'd change is the date on the calendar diary, it seems as though sleep is recorded over two days, but when you click on the past Calendar sleep days it only mentions one day. Like sleep is the last thing you do on any given date, not the first thing. In my mind it's the opposite... the ends when I sleep, sleep is the first thing I do in a day, therefore, all the dates recorded are on the wrong day, I slept today but it recorded today's sleep with yesterday's date... and that's even when I go to bed after 12am (which is always). 👍 Could make that an option? In settings.? Heart rate thing first thing in morning doesn’t seem to work on phones with multiple lenses. Fix that!! Also give me the option to do it after the first second i jolt to wake..Version: 6.23.38

Long time userI’ve been using this app for years and have always found it to be VERY accurate, even noticing when I woke up for a few minutes to have a sip of water or go to the toilet. Well worth the money I have been paying. However, in the past month the data has been inaccurate, it has not logged when I’ve gotten up and has just assumed me to be asleep from the minute I start it. It has also been picking up my podcasts which I use to help me sleep as snoring or me talking, again this is new as it has usually ignored these sounds. This has never been the case before and I’m hoping it’s just a glitch with the latest update. If it’s not, however, and this persists I will reluctantly be ending my premium payments as it’s not useful to me if it’s recording incorrect information. To anyone reading the reviews deciding whether or not to get this app, I advise you wait until the next app update with bug fixes. Otherwise, it’s helped me for years, I hope it gets back to normal soon!.Version: 6.11.10

Not enough information for purchaseThe lack of information this app gives you is astounding! I’m particularly “impressed” by their Q&A upon purchasing a free trial. There’s nothing really there to help a confused buyer know what they’re getting into. I mean really, this is what one of the questions says: How do I cancel my subscription? The Sleep Cycle Premium subscription, $39.99, renews annually. Each renewal will be charged once from your iTunes account.Version: 6.14.5

NOT GOODThis app simply doesn’t work as it’s advertised to do so. I’ve been monitoring it closely for several months and it consistently fails to produce accurate data. I’ve also compared it with the Apple sleep app whilst wearing my Apple watch. It frequently records me asleep when I know I’m awake and vice vera. It fails to show awake when I get up during the night and even last night I woke twice (once with a nasty leg cramp) and it recorded a constant sleep over over 7 hours. The Apple watch always gives a greater sleep time usually around 45-60 mins extra sleep which is far more accurate. Curiously, it always shows me going to sleep in around 10 mins (which simply isn’t true) but when I wake during the night it often shows me taking 30-40 mins to go back to sleep (again not accurate). It consumes a massive amount of memory cache (currently over 1Gb). Overall, this app is wholly inaccurate and consequently the data analysis is seriously flawed..Version: 6.14.3

Waste of money, very inaccurate.Very inaccurate at tracking stages of sleep and tracking actual sleep vs awake. I wake several times a night with a new baby and wanted to track how much sleep I was getting between feeds and nappy changes. This app tells me I’m apparently asleep, even when I try to be obvious that I’m not asleep by picking up my phone (accelerometer mode) or talking and making obvious excessive noise (microphone mode). There’s no way to have both options running. Waste of money. The only useful things are the “wake up slowly” (but it can’t tell if you’re in light sleep anyway) and the soothing sounds to help you fall asleep..Version: 6.16.3

Used to be awesome, now it’s just a money grab by developers. The paid (non subscription version) app is no longer any better than the built-in sleep app on the Apple watch. It used to be awesome. Sleep cycle was the first app I installed on my iPhone waaaaay back in the beginning of the App Store. It was simply awesome. It would buzz/vibrate if I snored to get me to adjust sleeping position, recorded the noise in my room, my sleep talking, allowed me to track my sleep against things like the lunar cycle, weather conditions, location (I traveled) and gave really meaningful insight into my sleep that was genuinely helpful. I moved away from apple products but came back purely for this app and the Apple Watch. That’s how great this app USED TO BE. Fast forward to 2022 and over time a lot of sleep cycle’s features have dropped off….. but SURPRISE!!! They all appear to coming back but only for PREMIUM subscribers. Yep. That’s right. The features I PAID for no longer exist without dedicating an extra $40/mth (-which is ludicrous-) to access. I get it that single purchase prices don’t bring in the same revenue as subscriptions, and that subscriptions to use apps was unheard of back in 2011… but whittling away at a loved product until it’s a shadow of its former self to extort money from people who’ve already invested is unconscionable. Shame on you, sleep cycle!.Version: 6.23.41

Not working as expectedI’ve had the app for around 2 years and used it almost every day for the first month but then I ran into a lot of problems. I think the idea of the app is great but it says I’m asleep when I’m lying in bed awake and the alarm usually just wakes me up at the earliest possible time in the window. I tried using it again recently to see if any updates improved the problems I had, but the same thing happened and I had an absolutely terrible night of sleep, and it said my sleep quality was around 80%. Then it showed that it hears talking and snoring, and I never do that so I’m sure it was coming from the other room because the people sleeping there sometimes snore but I can’t check because I would need premium. I really hope that it doesn’t work like this for other people, and maybe I was using wrong, I’m not sure. But I really hope it’s improved if I’m not the only one dealing with these issues..Version: 6.22.13

The brazenness is alarmingThe app page for this app is clearly set up in such a way to portray a fairly common two versions system of the app. A free “lite” version and a paid ‘Premium” version. You can see this in the way the “Premium” version is marketed with a different app logo and also the naming ‘Sleep Cycle Premium FOR Sleep Cycle - Sleep Tracker’ accompanied with ‘Unlock ALL sleep aids is clearly designed to give the impression I mentioned above, that there’s a lite version and a full premium version. That is NOT the case. This is one app and there is no free ‘lite’ version. Only a 7 day free trial, the auto-renews (banking on you forgetting to cancel). This is a clear case of intentional false and misleading advertising, designed to manipulate consumers using the escalation of commitment principles. “I’ve come this far, I may as well try it out”. This type of underhanded/predatory marketing is not only unethical but the logic behind its use demonstrates a temerity that is nothing short of disgusting. And well not a chance in hell I’d trust a company that so openly showed that much disdain for its ‘customers’ access to any of my data let alone money. 0/5..Version: 6.23.41

Neither accurate nor reliableIt doesn’t seem to be aware of when I wake up and get up to walk around (I have Parkinson’s disease with a large helping of restless legs, plus sleep apnea). The wake-up window has never worked for me. The alarm goes off at the earliest possible time, even when by its own metrics I am in deep sleep. Lately it has also frequently stopped tracking my sleep during the night - did it last night , in fact. Simply closes at a random time during the night. Fortunately I’m retired and don’t need to get up for work, though sometimes I do need to wake up for a doctor’s appointment. I’ve started relying on my Apple Watch for actual alarms. The only message I ever get from the app is something about sleep efficiency. It always gives the same number, and I can find no explanation of what that number means or how it is derived. My sleep is not so consistent that anything should be absolutely the same every single night. I keep using it for the tracking, though I’m not sure why, since it is obviously inaccurate. Also, the labels it gives for sounds are comical (for instance, baby crying, when I am single and in my 70s and live alone). But hearing the sounds is a premium feature, and I’m not about to pay for this, given its shortcomings, so I can’t “improve “ the labels..Version: 6.16.3

Dark pattern NagwareI’m an original purchaser, who does not want to use any of the premium features. In the last week, sleep cycle pops up the subscription dialog once per day every day right when I am going to bed and turning on the alarm. The confirm button is the same color and right where the start button on the alarm screen would be..Version: 6.23.25

Great appHave been using a for a few years now Suddenly I have to pay for the premium to be able to use its functions Have been happy with what I’ve got out of this app, why force purchases?.Version: 6.23.4

Money grabbingI purchased Sleep Cycle when it was a one-off payment. It used to show insights about my sleep. Now they updated the UI slightly and removed my access to insights, asking me to pay for it. They broke their promise to let me keep access to all the features I had when I originally purchased the app. Not to mention the huge clutter they add trying to upsell you to the subscription. They make me feel like I was wrong to ever support this developer and give them money. Who knows how much more they will try to grab money, they have already started to use dark patterns to force people to start the trial in the hope that people forget to cancel it. It’s a shame that the developers have tarnished their good reputation to try to put more money into their own pockets..Version: 6.23.41

Should have read more reviewsI can probably count the number of reviews I have given in my life on one hand. It’s just not something I do. But as I’ve aged, I realize the importance of quality products and the need to celebrate them. Or, in this case, the need to express disappointment in something that was once great. I’ve had this app for about a month and up until the last few nights it has been working really well. So well, that after the first few days I felt I just had to upgrade to the premium version at $29/year (paying for apps is also something I rarely do). Zoom to this morning to me taking the time to write a review even though I’m already late for work, since I woke up for the third time in a row on my own without a peep from the app, the notification silently displaying, “good morning!” as if it actually did its job. No, you didn’t do your job, app; instead you only captured a portion of the night, or recorded my coughing/snoring but didn’t tell me how long it occurred. Of course my quality was subpar when you think I’ve only been asleep for 3 hours. I could deal with it messing up the recording/data a bit, but when I can no longer rely on the alarm clock *that I paid for*, what good is this app? This used to be such a great tool. I think that’s what makes all of this worse. Two stars for what it used to be. I guess I’ll be looking elsewhere..Version: 6.14.2

Won’t let me past the subscription pageI downloaded the app then set up my account but as soon i had set up my account a subscription page popped up and it wouldn’t let me get rid of it or give clear indication of using it without it i can’t even delete my account because i can’t use the app.Version: 6.23.44

Really goodI like it’s softer alarm sounds to wake me up. It’s nice to know if you snore while sleeping, and most of the time the sleep cycle thing looks accurate. I find that it’s really off in when you fall asleep (saying I fell asleep immediately even though I stayed up longer) or in waking up (says I was sleeping soundly until the alarm but In reality I was just awake and relaxing) I’ve never really found it to follow any scientific knowledge to wake me up, it just gets me up either at the first minute of my window or the last minute, but that could possibly be due to the fact that I don’t have a bedside table and sleep with it on the windowsill next to my bed. There’s also, I haven’t figured out why, this thing it does sometimes where the alarm doesn’t go off at all, and it just gives you a little silent “good morning!” Notification if you set it up to wake at a certain time. Obviously this doesn’t wake me up. I’ve been lucky enough to just naturally wake up about 10 or so minutes after my alarm each time, but it’s dangerous if you wait until later to wake up. I also haven’t found a way to set it to just repeat on its own every night, you have to manually tell it you’re sleeping now and set an alarm every night. So, I would say this app is good if you want a gentle alarm to wake you up for things you want to do in the morning sometimes, but not good if you need it for important things you’re waking up for..Version: 6.8

Good, but needs updateHave used the app for quite a few years now and generally very good. I have just upgraded from a series 2 watch to series 4. The app on series 2 was terribly slow which was annoying, and now much faster on series 4, BUT it uses over 50% battery power over night on the series 4 where it was about 20% on the series 2. Makes it pretty impractical when you’ve used it all day, then it chews the last bit of battery you had. First thing you have to do in the morning is charge it for an hour or so..Version: 5.5.4

Better before it switched to subscription payDon’t get me wrong, sleep cycle has been ahead of the curve as far as sleep tracking. I paid outright for the app when it first came out; what a great idea! Unfortunately, like virtually every other app/service they’ve gradually migrated to subscription based, slowly chipping away at benefits originally updated for free. I understand the need to make profits but this whole rent society trend is really messed up. Remember when companies would at least offer the alternative to pay a lump sum for unlimited use permenantly? I guess I’ll continue to use what I have until it’s eventually whittled away to mirror a free version. Related to this, if the devs offered an option to allow a song chosen for your alarm to continue from where you pressed snooze, I may be inclined to pay for that subscription. I appreciate the discount for recognizing my original purchase and one of my favorite things (that I used to shamelessly brag about) was that I felt taken care of because I was grandfathered into the premium content. My complaint really falls onto subscription culture as a whole. The end. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk..Version: 6.22.12

Has gotten WORSE since I first started using itI first started using this probably way back when it first released in 2009. There were issues, but it still worked fairly decently. Flash forward to now and I redownloaded it because I knew it has a progressive alarm, but IT ONLY PLAYS THROUGH THE DEVICE SPEAKER! (I wear headphones to sleep, and THIS APP screws them up) The recording aren’t helpful. Half the time I’m not even sure it was actually me it picked up (I don’t live alone) It somehow DOESN’T properly pickup me GETTING UP OUT OF BED and laying back down in the middle of the night as being “awake”; it’s still registers as low enough to be sleep. Not only that, the way it tracks sleep doesn’t properly measure sleep cycles. It just shows a flat graph for most of the night. It doesn’t tell you how well you sleep till after 4 nights, which isn’t really a number I need guessed at (plus, having used it before it was often wrong, saying I slept horribly on nights that I woke well rested or that the night was great when I woke up feeling tired still, and if the tracking has gotten worse then I suspect that has as well) I’m just going to look for a different app, one that isn’t going to suggest joining premium for features that really don’t add anything to an already broken glorified alarm..Version: 6.22.16

LameEverything that used to be free has a charge now 🙄 your app is not worth 39$ a year.Version: 6.22.4

I like it but..The app doesn’t accurately track my sleep cycle. There are times where I’ve gotten up multiple times over the night or sat coding in bed after a brainwave and in the app these times are usually either “deep” or “light” sleep. There is no functionality for me to be able to correct the misrepresented times and have found the only way for the tracker to think I am awake is if I physically wake my phone by tapping the screen. Not ideal really, but the alarm and sleep music are nice. It also repeatedly marks the dawn bird song as “talking” but misses me actually talking. I feel like this app has soo much more potential….Version: 6.20.3

What’s changed?I’ve used this for quite a long time and generally found it a pretty accurate measure. For a while now tho, the statistics are simply wrong. I am awake a lot through the night and it says I’m asleep. This isn’t a case of thinking I’m awake longer than I am, I’m actually sitting up reading or listening to a podcast. I often suddenly wake to go to the loo - I always check the time, yet when I finish the cycle the stats say I was still sound asleep during that time. This morning I was awake at 4, took phone with me to make tea etc, went back to bed to listen to various things and have done so for three hours, yet it says I slept. It’s so inaccurate now I’m really frustrated as how can I trust any of the amount of sleep it says I’m getting. Also different sounds, like a deep breath when awake gets mislabelled as a snore - as do various other sounds. This app used to be really helpful. Am now extremely frustrated by it..Version: 6.14

Not accurateI’ve used this app for a few years it used to be great till they updated looks completely different now. I find it’s not accurate anymore. Nights I’ve had a great sleep it shows I was up most of the night. When I’ve had a crappy night it shows I slept great. Don’t know why I don’t just delete it..Version: 6.3.1

Shaves hours off my sleep timeI want to know why it takes an hour and a half off how long it says I was sleep for. I was in bed for 8:30, and fell asleep in 25 minutes. I didn't wale up in the night. Easy, 8 hours of sleep. The app will tell me I slept for 6:45. No I didn’t. I did not wake up. Even in the graph you can see I didn’t wake up. It never used to do this, it used to be accurate. I would like a sleep tracking app to, you know, track my sleep properly. Then this morning I wake up and realise more sleep would be better for me than my morning run. I cannot turn off the snooze option unless I want to stop tracking my sleep, which I don't want to do. This app needs an option of “I would like to sleep past my wake up time”. Well now I’m wide awake and sleep deprived and annoyed. Thanks sleep cycle :-) The only good thing about this app is the wake up window. I’m very close to deleting this app..Version: 6.22.12

Charged me moneyI signed up for the 7 day free trial and then cancelled my subscription within a few days so it wouldn’t charge me. I checked several times to make sure it wasn’t going to charge me. Then, today it charged me $50 for the subscription despite me canceling my subscription and being told I wouldn’t be charged. I am very unhappy and would like a refund..Version: 6.17

I love it but...I’ve had this app since it first came out, and have been enjoying the new beta version. I love how I wake up feeling great every single time I use it. But my worry is that it’s causing my battery to have problems. I always have it plugged in overnight. Three times now I’ve had the phone crash in the morning, saying the battery is empty (and you can see the icon drain within the first minute of unplugging in the morning). And then the phone switched off. It needs to be restarted twice to allow it to show the battery full. My phone is only 2 years old. It’s not got a bad battery (81% of original life according to the battery app). I don’t want to use this app again if it is damaging my phone..Version: 6.0

Isn’t accurateFor the first week of using this app, i found it interesting to see how much sleep I got that night. The feature of listening to noises picked up in the night was a plus side... until I signed up to the free trial and listened to the noises. The app told me that during the night, I was coughing; although I didn’t remember doing this, I decided to listen. What the app through was coughing, happened to actually be picking up my phone receiving an email. Where the app thought I was snoring, was a car driving onto my street. This was funny but disappointing. As weeks went by, I started noticing inaccurate information from the app. This app actually develops information from the noises around you at night. If you are very quiet whilst trying to fall asleep, the app will tell you that you was in a deep sleep, when actually, you know you was awake. Therefore, that isn’t correct information. It’s just picking up noises, that’s all. It’s not learning or adapting like the adverts say. It’s just listening and providing you with incorrect results. I’ve decided to uninstall the app as I don’t find it necessary after discovering this..Version: 6.13.3

Money moneyIt’s nice and all but I not going to spend money on it..Version: 5.5.3

Heart rate at wake-up still unreliableFor the most part, the app works pretty well. I was dismayed to see that when they updated the app to work with inductive charging positions (I.e., the phone is face up), there was no clear indication to not put the phone to sleep. I put it to sleep the first few nights because I wasn’t used to seeing the backlight on constantly (I have an 8 Plus) and awoke to see a slew of notifications saying I needed to wake my phone. While that’s not a huge deal, I found zero documentation. Also, the update for 8 Plus heart rate monitoring at wake up still rarely, if ever works. I will sit there for at least 90 seconds with my phone starting to heat my finger with the flash because it still won’t accurately pick my heart rate up. My display will go to sleep at least three times all the while, which is useful when I’m super groggy. Needless to say, I turned the heart rate feature off. It’s been smooth other than that. One remaining question is that when searching the help docs on the app, there’s no link to contact the developer. I’d never noticed that until I tried looking for ways to alleviate the problems noted above. That seems pretty “meh” for an app I have to pay for every year. I also pay for the Life Cycle app too..Version: 5.4.5

Good appUPDATE: I have been using this app for 8.5 years almost every night. This was the “smart bed” before Select Comfort created theirs, and I love having such a wide data set to learn from. However, in the last month, the sleep aid has been overriding my settings and fading out multiple times per night (but not EVERY night, or I would have already jumped ship), which has led to some of the worst sleep in years. I’m going to have to abandon this app for something more reliable if this issue isn’t immediately resolved. I don’t know if other apps on my phone are conflicting with the all-night brown noise setting or what’s happening. I haven’t changed anything about how I use the app. I am SO very tired from the sudden jarring silence waking me. It may as well be an alarm clock or an infant for how disruptive this has been. 😵‍💫 - - - This data is interesting and I like the alarm options... Much less abrasive than standard alarms. I would like to add daily notes so I can qualify the results, but overall, I'm pleased with this app. The variety of sleep-aid sounds is great for combatting the various the various noises I encounter when I travel..Version: 6.22.41

Overly sensitive, everything’s basically premiumI got this since I am a terrible sleeper and I figured maybe this was a way to track where I’m waking up and how long I stay asleep at a time.. I actually sleep 3/4 hours a night but I go to my bed and stay put for as long as possible to try and promote a routine, even if it’s staring out my ceiling. Apparently I slept 7hours and 35minutes.. and snored for almost 3 of them. The snoring was hilariously a combination of my cat and the road outside my house, I swear I don’t purr or have a horn. And the app on my tablet noticed I slept for 3hours and 17 minutes.. which is a big jump. This also puts your phone into basically flight mode, you won’t hear any messages or anything else.. I get the purpose but if you’re likely to get called into work early via text I wouldn’t chance it. I think that can be turned off somehow but I didn’t realise it done this. Personally this app isn’t accurate if your house has any noise, like the road outside of mine..Version: 5.4.5

Not supporting old usersI purchased this all years ago when it was a one time fee. Now that they’ve switched to a subscription I cannot access the app at all and have lost whatever I originally paid for. It makes original supporters of the app feel unappreciated..Version: 6.22.51

Updated app !!!I paid a long time ago for the premium version which I really liked however now the app has been changed. In appearance it is nothing like the original that I paid for. The wake up alarm is totally different. When setting the alarm it would tell you your ‘wake up’ phase but now it doesn’t. When the alarm goes off .. it is very short and if you move it turns off. The display when alarm is set would previously slowly turn light down, now as soon as the alarm is set the screen goes black, so you are never sure if the alarm is set properly or not! For anyone who has bought this updated version I am sure they would feel it was ok but being an old time user and purchaser of this app I think it’s bad that you pay for one thing and after a while it is changed and in my opinion not for the better. The numerous differences, the way data is shown and stored, the alarm, the lighting etc is not what I paid for. I would like the original version back ..... how does one go about getting their money back !!!!.Version: 6.0.4

What a scamAfter I updated my sleep cycle app yesterday it got rid of all my premium features (I bought the app when it wasn’t free in its earlier days). I am very disappointed that you have gotten rid of these features that I PAID FOR! I found it very nice that you offered many of the premium features to those who had supported your app in its early stages like me, but now you’ve stripped that away from me. I just can’t believe they would do that to the people that made their app worth their time and pushed it to popularity..Version: 5.5.0

ICloud34,99$ to backup? Why don’t use iCloud?.Version: 5.5.0

What’s with the bird!I’ve used this app for more years than I care to remember, but honestly, with each update it becomes more and more unreliable in the data it gives! Last night I couldn’t sleep, I lay awake listening to two of your stories, this morning the app shows that I was asleep half of this time!! It apparently thinks I was sleeping when I went to the bathroom too! Unfortunately these are not isolated data, it’s become so unreliable recently! I just bought a new phone, so for one night used the app on both phones, one either side of the bed, low and behold, two completely different sets of data recorded!! And what’s with the bird noise? There are no birds anywhere near to where I live but each day I’ve an assortment of noises recorded as ‘bird’, too bizarre. Can I suggest you stop these useless updates, they haven’t improved the app in any way, shape, or form, quite the opposite!.Version: 6.22.27

Recent app crashes during the night, no alarm!Twice in the last two weeks my app has just no longer been running in the morning, and one of those times I woke up late for work. Stability is critical for an alarm clock - so this really prevents this version from being trustworthy and useful..Version: 6.12

Cant restore purchaseI was an OG user of this app when it just launched and became popular and paid for the app when it used to be one-time pay. I changed phones and recently just redownloaded it to find i need to pay subscription? And then i see online that they do allow OG users to restore purchases but I’ve clicked it and its just gets stuck on loading “please wait” and does nothing … Really disappointed.Version: 6.23.47

Fix Apple Watch UIFor people who understand sleep, the Sleep Cycle Apple Watch app is not designed to be used by groggy people who just woke up. There have been many days my nightly data gets erased simply because I hit “stop” on the wake up alarm instead of “open” and then “stop.” Every morning it’s most natural to hit “stop,” my built-in Apple Watch alarm is turned off with a similar “stop,” function, but I’m supposed to have the level of executive functioning after just becoming conscious to resist hitting “stop” on this alarm or it will erase my data. This is a huge flaw that has made about 20% of the nights I wear the watch useless because the most natural way to turn off the alarm makes my sleep data disappear. Please fix this and record data no matter what! If someone wants to delete a night of data, they should be able to do that later. Also, if I wake up before my alarm window, the Watch doesn’t record my true wake up time, and if I ignore the alarm and keep sleeping, it doesn’t keep recording after the end of the alarm window, so for another ~20% of nights, my time asleep and time in bed is inaccurate. With 40% of my data missing or inaccurate, I don’t know how valuable it is to keep tracking my sleep with this app..Version: 6.22.20

Be careful. Not sure about others. But I deleted the app the next morning. I thought it’s gone. But I received a bill for 1 year sub @ near $40, even I am not going to use it for the next 12 months. So, be sure to un-sub if you delete app. And, 1 of the reasons I deleted the app is because it consumes a lot of battery over night. So the watch may not have sufficient battery life for the rest of day. If you have another charger at office, it may be ok. Reminder: be aware of auto-subscription.&.Version: 5.5.3

A bit disappointedI’ve paid for this app, subscription based. I also chose this app because I trust the developer. It has better privacy features than other apps. You can chose not to back up each nights recording and they are deleted after a few weeks. Yes, it tracks your sleep and provides a journal along with additional information hints/tips on getting a better nights sleep. My only complaints are my bedtime rhymes, one of which is supposed to go for 41 minutes, cuts out at about 40 seconds!!!!!! I’ve tried numerous times and can’t get passed the same point. Also, compared to some apps the range of choices (in sleep sounds is quite slim). I would also like for some of them to actually last longer. It takes a while for me to wind down at night sometimes, and it’s during those nights I find myself having to hit the start button again. For the latter two concerns I took off the two stars..Version: 6.22.23

Premium is not worth itPaid $50 for the premium feature and my sleep cycle keeps thinking its May 25-26 when we’re now in august. My online backup is on but it never properly backs up and syncs and even though I have an Apple Watch and have the features turned on for it, this app never tracks my sleep properly and always says background issues occur.... I loved this app in the beginning but now I can’t fix all these malfunctions that keep happening, so it’s definitely no where near worth $50. Especially when it doesn’t do half of the things it says it’s going to..Version: 6.9.2

NickiI had this app a few years ago... then got rid of it ...( forgot why ) Got it again two months ago and everything that was free you now have to pay for ... Disappointed... I have enough bills , don’t need a monthly bill for a phone app !!!.Version: 5.5.0

Don’t download. Save yourself the hassleHave been using the app since 2016 so over 5 years. It used to be great but since developers have upgraded the app in the past few years they don’t fix any bugs. I read their responses to peoples reviews here and laugh. Detects you sleeping even when you’re awake. Says you’re snoring and it’s just a car driving past or bird chirping or ceiling fan spinning. When you do email their customer service it is the worst experience imaginable - it took them over 3 weeks sending me on a wild goose chase so they could collect info and data from me going back and forth just for them to turn around and say despite I was gifted a lifetime premium subscription I would now have to pay for any new features. Used to love the app and recommend it, now I tell people not to touch it with a ten foot pole. It’s too expensive and is completely inaccurate. Such a disappointing experience from a long term customer. Their loss. Actually fix the app, listen to your customers or you will lose everyone including the loyal long term users like me..Version: 6.20.2

Good app but seems inaccurate at recording sleepI installed this app to record my sleep, rather than for the alarm feature. Overall, it’s a well made app that works well and has a nice design. However, after using the premium free trial for a week I have some significant doubts over the accuracy of the data it records and over the sleep scores. For instance, there have been times when I have woken in the middle of the night to go to the loo (even picking up the phone to check the time) but when checking the app in the morning it has said I was soundly asleep at those times. There was also one morning where I woke up way too early and couldn’t get back to sleep so sat up and read my book for around an hour, the app said I was in deep sleep! The sleep scores also seem to be calibrated to you in particular, which means you can end up getting very high sleep scores even if you haven’t slept particularly well or for a particularly long time. However, I’ve not used the app for long enough for me to get a proper indication of how well these work. The app might be more accurate if you used an Apple Watch, or if you slept without a partner, but overall I would say that this is good for giving a general indication of your sleep but I wouldn’t rely on it being accurate..Version: 6.23.25

Too expensiveThis is an app that should cost a dollar or two one time, not an annual subscription rate of $29! The problem is that as powerful as an iPhone is, the technology has real limitations in trying to decode something as mysterious as sleep patterns using only a motion sensor for input. For example, I can (and frequently do) lie awake for one to several hours and if I’m lying still, Sleep Cycle is tricked into interpreting my lack of movement as deep sleep. I would also like to see a feature whereby when I wake up I can check the sleep cycle to that point and decide whether to try going back to sleep or not - and be able to return the app to sleep mode. At present once I check the cycle that’s it - I have no capability to prolong g the cycle at that point. The app works well enough given its technological limitations, but the quality of the sleep information reported back to you just isn’t worth such a ridiculously high price..Version: 5.7.4

DisappointedReally disappointed that I bought the app in its early stages and now that I decided to download it again they are trying to charge me a subscription. They should be offering to give me the money I paid for back. Ridiculous!.Version: 6.22.51

Gone downhillI’ve used this for a very long time. All the way back to 2013. While they keep changing it and making you pay for more, that’s fine the issue is it’s become far less reliable. It wouldn’t always stay on. After this last update, it usually closes after 15-30 minutes. Making it utterly useless. Not even having a support to contact is basically the final straw. Do not give them money. Do not waste your time with this app..Version: 6.22

Not that efficient when you share the bed with someoneThe app works great when I’m sleeping alone. But as a married person, I find that there’s another person in my bed the majority of the time. The app doesn’t seem to be able to differentiate between me and my partner. I go to sleep earlier than my partner and he’s often in bed watching movies on his laptop at that time. When he does go to sleep, he also snores very loud. As it is, the app records his snoring and the sound he make instead of tracking me. Considering he has no interest in sleeping tracking, I cannot make him use sleep cycle on his side to counter my data either. I ended up buying a smart ring to track my sleep instead. It’s a pity. I really like the app..Version: 5.5.6

So inaccurateI was so happy to finally get an Apple Watch but disappointed with the lack of sleep information available. I’ve had a Fitbit, and an even cheaper health watch more recently that gave really good insight to my sleep pattern so I was sure the series 6 watch would measure up. I have a chronic condition where I can wake up with the most horrendous migraines very suddenly in the night. Kind of feels like I’ve been whacked round the head with a cricket bat! I am a very restless sleeper anyway but my condition makes sleep more difficult. My husband often states that I appeared to be fast asleep, when I feel very unrested and as though I have been on the edge of waking up all night (when you’re aware of every sound around you and it filters into your dreams). I was desperate to understand my sleep better and see how I could improve it and this app looked perfect. The first couple of weeks were great. I even started to sleep better, longer, fall asleep faster (always been a problem unless the TV is on). But then I started noticing that the app would have no knowledge of me getting up in the night to use the bathroom, or pacing around the bedroom looking for painkillers in the night. As long as someone was breathing/snoring it assumed I was asleep. Never mind it was me wearing the watch! The last straw was the night I lay awake in pain virtually the whole night and maybe had a couple of catnaps. It recorded 100% sleep quality on this night. What a load of b******s!.Version: 6.14.3

A couple of problemsOkay, so. To start off with, I’m autistic, I struggle with routine and sleeping and this helps quite a bit to track how much I’ve slept the night before in regards to how sensitive I am during the day. It’s pretty good with the alarm that chooses when to wake you up when you’re most awake and it does that but I never actually wake up during it, it only kind of makes me turn off sleep cycle because I’m half asleep. But that’s my own problem with a lack of motivation to get up. And then here’s my absolute biggest problem with this. I use the sleep sounds but I only use one in particular and I can’t listen to any of the others. My routine is important to me so it has to be the same every single time. About half a year ago they made everything or most of everything premium features which included the specific sleep sound. After a massive meltdown and cracking my phone in anger I decided to get premium, just for the sake of the sound. The other features are nice but aren’t as important to me as the sleep sound. Now, for some reason. Even after I still have the premium version, the sound isn’t there and I’m losing my mind over this. Is this a temporary thing or a glitch or something? I don’t know what I’ll do if otherwise. The sound is aquascape and I think the composer is computer-generated....Version: 6.13.3

I’m annoyedThis used to be a free app that you could use and obviously there was a premium versions to get a bunch of extras I deleted it thinking I didn’t need it anymore for some reason and when I re-downloaded it because lately I’ve found it hard getting up on a morning sometimes I don’t even hear my alarms I changed the sounds and everything and still can’t get up on time so I have gone back to this app because when you could use it for free one of the only free thing you got on it was waking you up on your lightest sleep when you choose what time you want to get up and it worked but now I go onto this app and it’s telling me I need to pay a subscription just to even use the thing I’m so annoyed and I hope the maker of the app sees this and gets some realisation of this problem and go back to how it was because it might as well be an app that you need to pay for even to just download it because saying it is a free download is so misleading as you can’t even use the app without paying.Version: 6.23.12

Older iOS do not update!Do not update, I don’t know if it’s for all iOS but I’m still on iOS 13.6 and since updating the app it has stopped working, it won’t even open just automatically crashes and closes itself. Reached out to the support with all the information and they kept asking me for info when it was already sent to them plus told me to just update my iOS. Firstly who are they to tell me to update my phone and second I can’t update even if I wanted to. I have had this app for 10 years when you could purchase once and that’s it (don’t understand making people subscribe to apps). Hoping they don’t make it so people on older iOS aren’t able to use the app as it’s been one of the best sleep apps I’ve used!!.Version: 6.20.2

Too many pay walls and not grandfathering in lifetime subscriptionSo I’ve had this app since it’s infancy. It was featured on the App Store and IFLTI newsletter back in 2015. I downloaded it, and loved all the features. Tracking my sleep health helped me improve my overall health, and seeing how My sleep hygiene compared to others within Canada and globally with the reports put me at ease. I loved it so much, I paid for the lifetime app. Well now we know devs love subscription services, and just like that, I have basic access to an app I paid for years ago. Pros of this app: White noise with lots of options Gentle wake up or immediate wake up options Tracks your sleep health Cons: -Without subscription, no longer able to see comparable data for your sleep habits. - less access to the white noise -buggy and crashing often -expensive subscription to get back all the features. TLDR: for what this app does in the free version, go get another app. The paid isn’t worth the price unless you’re a new user who doesn’t know what you had free before 🙃.Version: 6.22.11

DisappointedI’ve used this app since 2016 and like others, paid for it when it wasn’t a free service upfront. Yes it was like $3 BUT the point is I paid for the premium features already. You allowed your customers to use it for years for the one time payment and then, without warning, update and deny them the features they’ve been using for years? Disappointing customer service and system. I’m deleting and won’t be paying the obscene cost of $40 a year. It WAS a good app, I liked the white noise and the sleep tracker but frankly the tracker isn’t very accurate (on nights I couldn’t sleep it would report high sleep quality if I was still as it only tracks movement) and the white noise can be found on YouTube for free..Version: 6.22.3

Recent changes are not helpfulThis app has stopped working effectively for me, and I can no longer rely on it as my wake up system. I have used this app for some time now, and up until recently I LOVED it - it was working really well, helping me to wake up gently and recording my sleeping stats. However in the last month or so, I have found it increasingly dissatisfying. The volume of the alarm has decreased and I cannot increase it to the level I need, so it sometimes does not wake me up. And in the last week the app has turned itself off numerous times. If I happen to wake up in the night and look at my phone, the app turns itself off. Please can these features be reviewed and fixed. I do not want to pay for an app that cannot be used for its intended function..Version: 6.5

Used to work but…I have used this app for years, but lately it’s getting the times I’m asleep wrong and I don’t understand why? I wear a smart watch, and that is always correct. I’d prefer my sleep cycle to work however as I don’t want to always wear my watch to bed. Last night I went to bed early at 10:30ish. I know I was asleep about 10:40 and sleep cycle agrees I was asleep after 10 minutes. It also agrees I woke up at 7.30… but is telling me I only slept 7 hours 28?! That’s WRONG by an 1 hour 20 mins approximately. It keeps doing this. So maybe this app needs bugs fixed or somthing. Also to hammer the last nail, my watch had my sleep time correct as 8 hours 40. I used to have all the listening to the sounds features free as well and it’s annoying you have to pay for that-but I get it-& don’t mind. Just wish it could actually track my sleep correctly!.Version: 6.22.20

Disappointed long term userSo very very disappointed - have been using this app for years - so imagine my disgust when I opened the app for the first time after upgrading to version 6.9 to discover basic features like sleep notes and heart rate - features I have always used for free - I suddenly have to pay for!!!!!! Struggling with mental health issues, these two features really help me to understand my sleep patterns in association with my moods and to suddenly have them taken away seems nothing more than a cheap shot from the App developers to make a quick buck. Add insult to injury, all the data that I had stored from when it was free.......GONE! I WILL NOT be another of the 36 thousand subscribers who have upgraded to premium this week, as the app so proudly boasts when you open it.......I’ll be looking for a better option..Version: 6.9

Great concept BUT INACCURATEDoesn’t detect when I’m awake, instead often shows that I’m ‘sleeping deeply’ when I’m gasping from a panic attack or sitting up or going to the bathroom. Completely useless for tracking the effect of lifestyle habits on sleep as a result. I tried an old version app about 7 years ago and found it to be more accurate. Not sure how it got worse. However the sleep tips that the app provides has been very helpful for improving quality of sleep. And just being able to know when I fall asleep and when I wake up has been useful for gradually improving my sleep window and planning bedtime activities..Version: 6.23.25

Accuracy is spottyThe accuracy is skewed based on the app's inability to receive feedback or edit the night's sleep. More often than not it's recording me asleep when I'm very much awake. After 2 years of a Premium sub I'm frustrated by lack of capability to amend or tag a portion of the night as Awake and receive more accurate information. I realise an app of this nature will never be 100%, but there are features that would improve it significantly..Version: 6.23.13

Completely wrongI downloaded free 7 day trial. 1st night I was awake from 3 til 6.30am. Back to sleep til 10am. Hence getting myself a sleep app. Tracker told me I woke at 6.30 after 7 hrs sleep Rubbish!!! Then I couldn’t see journal again and couldn’t see track for the following night. Glad I didn’t pay. Hope you don’t either. That is all....Version: 6.16.3

Fairly accurate now. iPhone & Watch very accurateI first used this app a couple of years ago. I bought a premium version for a year. Then I found that the free version was sufficient and gave me the information I was looking for. I have used it every night for years. The microphone gimmick was fun. Listening to me talking in my sleep or when I snored after forgetting to use my CPAP. But, over the last year I found that it is completely inaccurate. I was awake just about entirely last night. I slept between 8:45pm and 10:45 PM. From there, unfortunately, I was awake from 10:45pm to 4:45 AM. I got about another hour of sleep then woke for the day prior to 5:45am. It now being just after 9 AM. The app showed that I was sound asleep, in a deep sleep, through that period when was wide awake, up and down every 30 minutes or so and rolling all night in bed. I will say that last night was the worst I’ve seen it do. Nonetheless, it’s an accurate description all the time. I know my Apple Watch and iPhone give me terrific and very accurate information that melds with the rest of the Apple health app. I recommend you stay away from this app. You really don’t need it. Sure, try the free version, if you like. But definitely don’t buy it. There is no value whatsoever..Version: 6.23.43

Not accurateLove the concept of this app but often I’ll get up several times in the night to use the bathroom or something and then when I check the report in the morning it says I slept all night. Also, every single night it seems to rate the quality as over 90% even if it registers me as waking up multiple times or if I got less than 6 hours sleep. How is that 98%? Doesn’t feel like it The subscription is way too expensive to justify an app that doesn’t actually work as it’s meant to.Version: 6.22.20

Had it for 2 years and deleted it today- hooray! When it was free it was a bit of fun, hence the 2 stars. This morning it asked me to pay £25 a year. Waste of money so it’s gone from my phone. As the reviewer below says it recorded my wife’s snoring and blamed it on me. Hilarious but not v helpful if you want to record your sleep pattern for anything other than a laugh. Also hopelessly inaccurate at saying how much sleep I’d had. Records almost all your time in bed as asleep even if you’ve spent an hour or two lying there wide awake. Interesting record of what I’d done each day, which could have been useful if all the information could have been seen in conjunction with each night’s sleep. However it wasn’t. All in all, the free version now has so few feat it’s not worth using and the paid version is priced at five times what it’s worth. Im going to spend the money I saved on extra sleeping tablets or something;-).Version: 5.5.4

WAS a good app, stop changing itI’ve used this app for many years with no complaints. Until recently. The developer has added “insights” in a big box in the middle of the screen and it’s made the app less enjoyable and more annoying to use. The “insights” are limited and repetitive and they just get in the way - I now have to scroll to see the graph on the screen. Please add an option in “settings” to turn them off. Any app that makes the user feel mildly irritated first thing in the morning is going to get deleted from my phone. There’s no way to provide feedback on the app other than through leaving a review here..Version: 6.23.49

Probably more suited for non-disabled people.I’ve only been using the app for the sleep analysis, not the alarm. Unfortunately it isn’t able to distinguish between me being asleep or lying awake. I can wake up and lie there for two hours perfectly awake, then I pick up my phone and stop the app, and it thinks the time that I switched off the app is when I woke up and that I was sleeping for those last two hours. It also can’t tell when I leave the room during the night to use the bathroom, it thinks I’m sleeping then. So it never gets the length of time that I was sleeping right, which makes it kind of redundant. I am interested in how long I actually sleep vs lying in bed, and given I’m chronically ill, I lie in bed a lot through necessity. Also, the ‘tips’ it gives me, I know these are probably relevant for most people, but being told I would sleep better if I went for a walk before bed would be a whole lot less offensive if that was actually possible for me - I’m unable to walk more than 20m, FYI. The wording of these tips could be changed to say, for example “if you are able, you could go for a walk before bed…”. Don’t assume everyone using the app is non-disabled, it’s ableist..Version: 6.22

Helpful but could use more featuresI purchased the paid version of this app. While I have enjoyed it well enough over the past 6 months or so, I don’t think I’ll renew. I purchased this app to get data that would point me towards ways to improve my sleep. For example, the app tracks your step count. However, there is no graph or tab where I can see how my step count impacts how well I sleep at night. Similarly, I can mark off experiences I had during the day (e.g., drinking caffeine) but, once again, there’s no part of the app that tells me if drinking caffeine makes me fall asleep more slowly, increases my sleeping heart rate, etc. If the app had these features, I would renew it. One other thing: it would be great to have a notification feature that checks in to make sure you haven’t forgotten to turn off the nightly recording after a certain number of hours. I have had to delete full days of my journal because I forgot to click “stop recording” and ended up with 18 hours on my sleep log. As I understand it, the app currently turns off automatically if it believes you to be awake. This hasn’t worked at all for me; there have been some days where I’ll wake up and find that it only recorded half the night. Other than that, though, the app is great. I love the sound effects, the fun facts, and the journal. Thank you!.Version: 6.23.1

Watch appTried the watch over night, was confused whether I needed to run app on phone too so I did. Was disappointed that when I woke I had idle hours in Apple activity app. Could this be fixed. Also only new data from wearing watch was heart rate and was not easy to analyse..Version: 6.7

Trying this app again - still has issuesI've tried this app once before (premium) and cancelled it because I felt that the tracking wasn't as accurate as I wanted. I am trying it again now because my sleep is not great and I hoped I could try tracking again for some insight. Right from the start, however, it failed to indicate that I had gotten out of bed. When i looked back it showed that I was awake only after I had turned off sleep (gave up falling back to sleep even though it is too early to be awake...). Also, every single snore recording is of my sleeping partner. He is a massive snorer, and I know its him and not me because I know how he snores and he has describes my snoring to me; they are very different. He is possibly suffering from sleep apnea and is scheduled for a sleep study soon. His snore is loud and distinctive. This happened before, and IMO, snore detection in this app is an absolute waste for anyone who does not sleep alone. It is just a microphone listening for snore sounds; it can't tell who is making them. Consider this before you try it and understand that this app has limitations. The gentle alarm feature is ok, but I more often than not wake up before it, so I am not sure how effective it is or might be for others..Version: 6.13.2

Not accurate or helpful, waste of time. This app does not work. I used this app for a week and found it didn’t once accurately record any of my sleep patterns. I wake up about 10 times a night and the app would be lucky if it picked up one of these times. I followed the instructions to the letter and was very disappointed by the results. It’s a good idea in theory and I’m sure some functions work but this app has proven to me repeatedly it cannot do what it claims, which is a real shame because understanding sleep is so important. Although this app has a cool idea and an easy to read lay out, the way it works is flawed and aside from telling you when you go to sleep and when you wake up (something you have to do manually anyway) it doesn’t accurately tell you anything else. This is not an reliable app and doesn’t work sadly, so my recommendation is do not waste your money buying the full version. Even the free version seems like a waste of time..Version: 6.21.3

Suddenly unreliableI’ve been using this app for about four years and have really liked it, especially with the recent UI updates. But. It’s become unreliable in the last few months. Something happens at midnight and switches off the alarm so I’ve slept in and had that mad panic when you miss you’re alarm. The sleep chart just stops at midnight so I think there’s a bug or something. I’ve had to set up a second alarm on important days like when I’m catching a flight as I’ve lost faith it will work. An alarm has one job!!! Please fix!.Version: 6.4.1

Was the Best, Now Sub Par.I purchased Sleep Cycle several years ago and WAS a long time Sleep Cycle premium user. Sleep Cycle’s functionality has fallen behind competing apps that have emerged in recent years, many of which have a power nap option built in. The separate Power Nap app this developer sells was last updated FIVE YEARS ago, making it supper buggy and unusable (unless you’re still using an iPhone 3G). Also, the Apple Watch and iPhone apps work independently of one another. So, if you set an alarm on your phone, it will not sync with the Apple Watch app and vice-versa. Sleep Cycle WAS best in class for a long time, and Sleep Cycle still wins on UX IMO. If you read the developers responses to reviews they seem like a great group... the type of company you want to see beating the competition. Also, they deserve BIG props for allowing their early customers who purchased the premium app to maintain premium functionality after switching to a subscription model, excluding cloud backup. I actually added the subscription service, partly for cloud backup, but mostly because I was so impressed with the way they respected their early customer base when moving to subscription service. I would go back to Sleep Cycle if updated with the integration power nap functionality, Automatic sleep tracking, Apple Watch heart rate tracking, Apple Watch/iPhone apps sync, and other key functionalities now commonplace in the best sleep apps..Version: 6.12

Now just disappointingI agree entirely with the recent review of AndrewNZ2 and others… I have been a long time user of this App (for about the last decade) & it used to be fantastic. In recent times the free features have been whittled down, and now - without any warning whatsoever - all but the basic alarm feature have disappeared, rendering the App next to useless for anything other than a glorified alarm clock. The continual prompting to subscribe to Premium when trying to press any feature in the App is highly frustrating and just insulting. Sorry SleepCycle, you’ve lost all respect from me. I’ll be looking for another App (free or not) that doesn’t treat its users in this way..Version: 6.23.34

Doesn’t do the job. After a month of premium (paid) service this ‘Sleep Cycle’ app isn’t working, and there isn’t any way to contact the app developers. I set the app to start recording my sleep and set down my device in the very specific way requested, with it plugged in even, and at some point during my sleep it turns off and records nothing. Last night it recorded 1.5 of the 8 hours I actually slept. I can’t edit to correct a specific sleep cycle. I can’t create records that have only basic information, like how many ours I slept. I have many night that have gone unrecorded and that is the information that goes into their stats. Stats based on incorrect information are useless! So what exactly does ‘premium’ service get me? Nothing. Who cares if I have bad and incomplete information backed up? All the other stats I can easily look up on my own, for free. Don’t buy the premium service. It is a complete waste of money. I also tried ‘Life Cycle’. It doesn’t track well. You have to fill in a lot of information and that is pointless when the map location is incorrect and, again, the app doesn’t allow you to edit or correct their mistakes. Incorrect information is useless. Neither app is worth paying for. Response to app developer response: why would you think I hadn’t already tried the simple ideas? I did that. I rebooted my device as well. None of the easy-fix options have helped. If they had a review like this would just be petty instead of helpful to others..Version: 5.5.2

All the advice and advertising is really annoyingNeeds to display how long you’ve been asleep, not what time it is. I really like this app and used it years ago for a while. Started using it again and I think it could be useful in decreasing any apnea from snoring. But- it talks too much now, tips, adverts, everytime you use it it’s got something to say. For example- last night it flipped an ad to me right after I activated sleep mode but I would have had to click through the ad to actually have the phone start recording. In consequence I didn’t get to track last nights sleep. Also annoying because all the tips are basic boring stuff totally uninteresting to anyone who knows any science about sleep. I wish there was a way to shut off tips, they make me angry 1st thing in the morning they’re so pedestrian and pedantic. I wish I could turn off the ads they interfere with my use of the app. It’s so disappointing bc the app is overall good but I wish there was a pay version without ads and tips and with LESS features, not more. Going to look for another app like sleep cycle but without the ads and ‘tips’ all the other incessant talking. You’d think a sleep app would know how to be quiet lol!.Version: 6.22.46

Was good, but no longerI have used this app for a couple of years without problem, however an update a couple of months ago has changed things. For an alarm, I use the clock app that comes with iPhone. I use the Sleep Cycle app to help me fall asleep and monitor my sleep. After a recent update when my clock app alarm goes off in the morning, now the Sleep Cycle app starts playing its music/tune. I typically hit snooze once to twice before I get up, but now I hit snooze but the music in the Sleep Cycle app keeps playing hence I have to pick-up my phone and stop the app. I have contacted support and they identified the problem and indicated that a new update would fix it. The new update didn't fix it hence I'm now left with no fix to this very annoying problem. Get your act together!!! I have the full paid subscription to the app and the support has essentially been useless as they haven't solved the problem they created. Not happy..Version: 6.22.9

So disappointedI’ve had this app for years and relied on it to wake me up on time and give me insights on my sleep quality with little to no problem. And it did just that, until recently. I set the app’s alarm one night, as usual, and went to bed. When I woke, I realized that I overslept when this app alarm was supposed to wake me. I briefly considered the possibility that I set the wrong time for my alarm. So I open the app and what I found bewildered me. Not only did it seem like the app wasn’t tracking my sleep at all the previous night, but ALL of my sleep data was gone. Erased. Years of insights wiped from memory. But I thought, “this app is still a good alarm to wake up to” so I used it to set an alarm for the next day. I fall asleep that night and wake up. The sun is shining through my window. That’s my first clue that something is off. I set my alarm for 5 am, when the sky is still dark. So obviously, I overslept again. I open the app, trying to find some acceptable reason for me not waking up to it, hoping that I was doing something wrong and that this app that I’ve trusted for years wasn’t suddenly malfunctioning. Unfortunately, it was the app. Once again, it didn’t seem to be analyzing my sleep patterns and no insights from my recent rest appeared. To top it off, this was the second day in a row that I woke up late for work. This app has disappointed me in so many ways. The only positive thing is that I didn’t spend any money on this. Do not download..Version: 5.5.5

A game-changerI’ve been using SC for seven years, as a premium subscriber for most of that time. I used to rate it five stars, but I admit I’ve soured on it and wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. Minus one star for prioritizing strange, saccharine messages supposedly delivering ‘Insights’. (I shudder to think how cringy ‘SleepGPT’ must be… the tone of the Insights function doesn’t inspire me to try.) Minus another star for not being able to turn off the ‘Insights’ panel in the journal— there are literally dozens of options I can turn on and off with Premium, but I can’t turn off the repetitive, dad-joke-flavoured Insights? Yikes. Minus one more star for not putting more resources into supporting non-standard sleep patterns such as segmented/polyphasic sleep. Cmon, folks, it’s 2024 and there’s more ways to tweak one’s sleep cycle than the solid 8. I’ll keep using it only because my sleep history is interesting to continue building and reflect on every now and then. However if SC continues to try and be my best AI friend and not really help me tune my sleep game, I will peace-out and find another app..Version: 6.24.2

Shouldn’t have to pay for this…So far I think this app is pretty good, however, I feel as though I shouldn’t have to pay for premium to listen to my own sleep sounds that I gave permission to record using the microphone on my phone..Version: 6.22.31

Another fantastic subscription servicePaid for this app, used it for a while, then the dev decided to turn this app into an going subscription under the guise of fantastic new features! Well, I don’t want the new features. I don’t want updates. I don’t want “ongoing support”. I just want what I paid for. You can no longer use the app if you paid for it, you can’t even progress to the main screen — it’s a forced subscription. What if I just want a basic alarm to replace the loud and obnoxious alarms that come with the iPhone? Too bad, it’s a subscription now. It should be illegal to pull the rug out from under customers, but this is the state of modern apps. Give old customers the chance to restore their purchases and unlock a legacy version of the app with the newer subscription features locked out..Version: 6.23.48

Can’t enter appCan’t even look around in the app, prompts you to sign up for subscription or free trial right away. I wanted to have a look at the first, also thought there was some free options..Version: 6.23.51

Used to be great, now I’m thinking of deleting.I’ve been a premium customer for years, since before the subscription model was launched. I bought the original one time fee premium option. Except now the app is constantly trying to push me towards signing up for a new premium subscription, it’s almost as if the developer regrets offering the one time fee option previously, and is trying to constantly tempt me to pay them even more money. Also, an annoying glitch keeps happening when you’re in Sleep Mode. The app takes over my phones entire volume setting and forces it to be 100%. This was occurring inconsistently for a few weeks, but as of late it’s become a nightly occurrence. I try to set one of the ASMR sounds to play at a gentle 10-15% volume but as soon as sleep mode is engaged and I choose my sound the app forces my phones volume to shoot up to 100%, and it won’t let me change it! When this happens I close the app, set it all again but it doesn’t stop it from happening, so I end up resorting back to my standard iOS alarm. It was a great app, until it became greedy and started being so glitchy. If it doesn’t improve I’ll be deleting it soon. The sounds are a lovely feature, so I don’t see much point keeping the app without being able to use them..Version: 6.24.6

Used to be great, but went to garbageI have had this app since 2011. I loved it and recommend it to everyone I knew. Regretfully, starting with the last major update, it has gradually undone all the things I fell in love with. 1. User Interface. It’s been about a year since it was changed, and I still cannot get used to the new clunky cartoonish UI, which apparently was designed by a toddler. The sophisticated slick and polished user interface, no more. I figured OK, it’s just a form, let’s focus on substance. Well... 2. The reliability of the analysis and features went down the drain. The app shows me as being asleep, when I am not, and vice versa. In fact it will show things like snoring and being awake at the same time. Really? 3. Woke me up randomly at 3:30 am instead of 6:30. I kept snoozing it, wondering why I just can’t wake up, to finally open my eyes and see 3:45 on my alarm. HOW? I know I did not make an error. The alarm still shows as being set for 6:30. The only thing I can think of is that I came home from a location with a different time zone (3 hours early) that day. Was this the cause of screwed up internal sleep cycle clock? But cmon. When I set the alarm the night before, the current and the wake times were shown correctly. Needless to say, I could not go to sleep after, and was off my game the entire day. Ironic, that the app you get to help your sleep, ruins it for you. I am uninstalling and moving on to other apps. Done with this nonsense..Version: 6.1.2

It stopped workingIv been using this for months now, but then It just stopped working a week after I bought the premium! I can only use the analysis and not the alarm itself. If I knew it would be like this I wouldnt have purchases the premium 1 year.Version: 6.4.1

ScummyVery scummy of the developers to try force me into paying for premium by suggesting I try a different sleep aid sound and then when I try switch back to my regular sound it’s locked behind premium. You guys knew what you were doing with that. When I first started using the app there were a few good sleep aids available in the free version but now they’re all locked behind a pay wall.Version: 6.10.5

Stupid appDownloaded the app, thinking it was a sleep tracker that could help me with my sleep, come to find out I have to pay $50 a month and I can’t even use the app on its free version ,If there is one. kind of annoying that it doesn’t tell you you gotta pay 50 bucks a month for a free app..Version: 6.23.32

Ens**ittification AlertI paid for this app. I do not appreciate the increasing amount of upselling that has started to appear, wasting screen space in order to push useless “premium features”, without even the courtesy of a “dismiss” button. Today it was “Insights”: poorly written bits of ungrammatical, inauthentic, fluffy text which sound like they come from some teenager’s social media feed - or, worse, from some marketing department trying to sound hip. Why yes; I’d be delighted to pay for more of that, thank you ever so much. Stop it, Sleep Cycle! It’s a decent enough app when it sticks to what it does. These crude attempts at further monetization make me want to delete it in anger and buy an Apple Watch or Ouro ring instead. At the very least, add a profile setting for “Do not nag me about ‘Premium’ features again, as I have no interest in ever subscribing”. At best, offer occasional new features to your long-time customers, and discreetly mention, politely, and exactly once, that there are other “premium” ones which might also be of interest. Treat your customers well. It’s a radical thought, isn’t it?.Version: 6.24.4

Five stars, BUTI do like the app. I used to love it… Like many others, I once had access to the features now locked down. In all other apps, my purchase was grandfathered in, a fair way to deal with the price increase or program change. While the basic features I have are helpful, I want my other features back, the ones I paid for. They are helpful for goal setting and for understanding my sleep metrics. Please, give me my features back. The app is excellent otherwise..Version: 6.22.7

Forced membership trial 10 years after purchasing? Scam!Don’t fall for the scam. Paid for the app in 2012. Now being forced to do a “free trial” so that I can restore my previous purchase? Also, features I paid for now being taken away. After another user commented they were immediately charged for the full year when they started the trial, I’m not about to be scammed out of $50. Was told by customer support “this is how the app works at this point in time”. Then the developers need to fix it. App deleted..Version: 6.23.48

Poor/deceptive practices ruin a great appI purchased the original version of sleep cycle prior to the subscription model, and it’s been very solid during that time. As I liked this app I also downloaded lifecycle (their life tracking app) which in theory should integrate with sleep cycle. I paid for a subscription for that app, only to discover unless I pay $40/year for a subscription here as well - for just one feature - I can’t use the integration between the two apps. I totally get that they need ongoing funds to support the development of their apps, but it makes for a poor experience for long time users who have already paid if they can’t use the integration. I was more than happy to pay for the lifecycle subscription (which I have done) but this leaves a bad taste in the mouth. It’s a real pity as the sleep cycle app is a great app, and does its job very well. I especially like that it knows that I have a partner in bed based on her app as well. Hopefully they sort out their practices and I can continue to support these apps..Version: 5.4.5

Help.I would love to rate this app but Why put it free to download if the moment I open it you shove paying you money to use it down my throat with no way to exit without paying !.Version: 6.22.50

Not transparentYou have basically signed up before they tell you it's $40 a year. That should be on the first page before you provide any information. Based on that....I'll pass..Version: 6.23.1

HorribleAfter being an early adopter who has used this app for years, it stops running in the middle of the night and I keep waking up late with no alarm. Now I set my Apple alarm for my wake time and this app for the times it doesn’t work. Silly really so I retire an old favourite that seems to have died and I just noticed a pretty sad privacy standard..Version: 6.20.1

Have faithfully used this for years.. butI’m disappointed that the app has removed access to free features that were free from the beginning, like being able to listen to recordings of sleep talking, snoring etc. It seems to be a cheap money grab to squeeze long term users by taking away more and more free features over time, so they are forced to pay for basic features. —— I’ve used Sleepcycle nightly for many years and love to check it daily for sleep patterns. It’s pretty accurate and insightful. Only problem is, in recent months the app has been crashing in the middle of the night, or turning off by itself, therefore no alarm in the mornings and this has caused a few embarrassing situations oversleeping and missing appointments. It has become unreliable and now I have to find an alternative which can be relied on. Update: the alarm issue was solve by uninstalling and reinstalling. Another update: the 30 day free trial is a scam. I signed up for it and I was charged for the whole year from Day 1!! So even if I cancel now I still have to pay for the whole year..Version: 6.23.13

Unreliable recentlyApp is pretty good, unsure how accurate as there have been times I’ve gotten out of bed and the app has said I was in deep sleep at the time. Also dor the fourth time now the app has simply stopped halfway through the night and thus the alarm didn’t go off, making me late for work..Version: 6.22.41

UnreliableCrashes in the middle of the night, making me miss my alarm..Version: 6.20

Makes you sign up for a trial before even using itThey hope you forget and get charged a year. Scummy practice..Version: 6.22.51

Keeps asking me to subscribe to premiumI really like the app. However the last few weeks, EVERY time I open the app it has a pop up window asking me to upgrade to premium. There is no way to permanently disable this. It is so frustrating. I looked through all the setting just in case. And it doesn’t matter if I had the app open even 5 seconds ago. If I closed the app, that pop up window will be there when I next reopen. This is frustrating as normally I’m opening it when I am tired and I am expecting to press the big start button, roll over and go to sleep. But they have placed the “subscribe” button in the exact same place. There have been some nights where I didn’t realise I hadn’t pressed start, and I wake up to my leave for work alarm instead. I’m just happy I haven’t accidentally actually paid for the subscription THAT I DO NOT WANT. Prior to this I would have rated it 5 stars..Version: 6.23.25

Working againUPDATE: the paywall screen stopped appearing yesterday. I tried to bypass it multiple times over 4 to 5 days, before contacting the developer for technical support. The day after the dev responded to my email, the paywall stopped appearing. I’ve used this app for a decade. And it was vital for me. Now it is forcing me to find a replacement. I have serious problems with sleeping due to severe ADHD. I’ve been using this app for since 2011, as I found it helped me improve my sleeping quality and my ability to function when I woke up. I also paid for extra functions. But the app now forces you to subscribe. Subscribing (which is expensive) gives access to features I don’t need. But the full-screen selling page can’t be skipped or bypassed, as there isn’t a “no thanks” option and the “restore purchases” option has to be used each time the app is opened to get access to the alarm clock. This has broken the iOS Shortcuts and automations I used to controlled this app, as you can no longer use the alarm without subscribing or going through 3 screens to restore purchases every time you open the app..Version: 6.23.25

Useless since updates - alarm randomly doesn’t go offFor five years I’ve used this app without a problem, absolutely loved it and recommended it to all my friends. Then about 6 months ago it just stopped working. You set an alarm, and the app just switches itself off during the night. So it doesn’t track your sleep, and worse still the alarm doesn’t go off in the morning, so what’s the point? And the even more annoying part? It’s absolutely random. Works 4 nights in a row and then on the 5th night, nothing, turns itself off again. Maddening. The developer response is to fully charge your phone before bed and leave it unplugged; but the app eats battery like no-one’s business, so your phone either dies before the morning, or you wake up to a dead battery!? Oh wait, and their alternate response: “please set a backup alarm just in case.” You’ve got to be kidding me?! What’s the point of a sleep tracking and alarm app that neither tracks your sleep, nor has an alarm, and you have to set another alarm as backup??? They need to fix their recent bug introduction, or revert whatever useless update they did 6 months ago and go back to basics. Looking for an alternative until they do, such a shame..Version: 6.22.5

Good but Astonishing Omissions! It's a very good app with fascinating features the developers have clearly worked hard on. BUT it's hard to believe that - after all the years I've been going back and forth to check - the developers still haven't put in place two basic functions found on other alarm apps. These basic features would turn Sleep Cycle from a good app Into a great one: 1. I can't enter a period to fade up the volume, which means that I've no option but to wake up to deafeningly loud music faded up to max volume quickly, which is so obviously unpleasant! 2. I can't choose my own playlist to shuffle; I'm only allowed to choose one single song - which will quickly drive you insane if you have to listen to the same song over and over every day (or being forced to remember to dig into the settings over and over to change the song you're now sick of)! It's hard for a non-developer to understand how someone can go to so much trouble to design and build such a complex feature set while leaving out such basic alarm functions. I'll continue to check back in the hope that the developers provide these basics, following which I - like many others I'm sure - will finally be able to embrace the otherwise great feature set of this app..Version: 6.0.3

PriceyI love this app it’s very useful and I love the smart alarm. The only downside that premium is way too expensive. 40$ a year for premium. I think that premium is overpriced plus it includes feature that free account should have. In conclusion I like this app but they should have put more stuff for free accounts.Version: 6.13.3

Lacking in MeditationsI like this app in a lot of ways. I like how it records when I snore, although I am embarrassed that I do snore, and I like hearing the funny and sometimes strange things I say when I talk in my sleep. I like how it tracks my quality of sleep. HOWEVER, I really miss not being able to listen to my other meditation apps when I use this app because the guided meditations, stories, sounds, et cetera selection on this app are very lacking. There is only one voice for the guided meditation section, and I would prefer to have more variety. Additionally, there are not that many tracks to choose from in any category. I personally like guided sleep meditations that last for close to an hour or more, but there are none — and again, there are not many choices at all, and it’s the same woman’s voice for the guided meditations. It would be great if somehow this app could collaborate with Insight Timer or at least get some of the content they have. Basically the features of this app are cool, but the things that are provided to help a person actually fall asleep are VERY limited and not very good. I’m hoping they will improve in this aspect. Otherwise, I won’t continue to pay because I NEED things to help me fall asleep..Version: 6.22.5

AnnoyedSo I paid a premium rate a few years back, promised it to be a one off good buy. I’ve also recommended it to friends as a good one off by. I use the pink noise and rain on car roof for anxiety and sleep deprivation/ insomnia. It’s become a thing for me. Only for all of that to be taken away and me having to spend £34 for the year to use what I’ve always used. I remember back in the day that sleep cycle called it a one off payment. I feel stupid and robbed basically. I’ve been loyal only to be subjected to some contra cat they’ve made. I’ll be looking for an alarm clock that I don’t have to pay £2.50 a month for. We all know it’s only going to go up. Never put your money and trust into building an app. They’ll only rip you off against they’re words later down the line. Once trusted, not anymore. As good as the app is. I’d give it 5 stars. But I feel like they’ve walked all over me as a loyal customer. Thanks sleep cycle. I’m use be among your first customers 😞.Version: 6.23.4

Used to be brilliant, now just uselessI’ve had this app for nearly 2 years and until July 2019, it was pretty spot on in recording my sleep patterns. Since the big “upgrade” in July, however, it’s been almost useless. It now doesn’t recognise when I’m awake (even when I know I’ve been using my phone, it records me as sleeping). The Apple health app uses the data from sleep cycle but gives different results! And now, for the second time in a week, I’ve found (during a bout of insomnia!) that the app isn’t even running, despite setting it, which could have resulted in no alarm to wake me up. And the graphics are nice but more limited in what data has been included. The response from the team was quick, so I can’t fault them there, but amounted to “delete and reinstall “. Apart from the faff factor, it has made no difference at all. I’m holding on in hope that they’ll go back to the previous version.Version: 6.1.2

Insights?I’ve enjoyed this app (premium) for over 10 years. Please give me the option to remove “Insights”. I don’t need or want it because it’s useless..Version: 6.23.44

Late for workThe app seemed to be working like any other night (I’ve used it a while now) and one morning I woke up to the app prepared to go off at 6-6.20 but the actual time was 8.30. I was 2 hours late for work, and the app hadn’t made a sound. The weird thing was it looked as though it were still functioning, but when I closed the app and reopened it it hadn’t recorded anything. I obviously won’t be paying this app anymore to not do its job..Version: 5.4.3

What a scamBalls to you guys. Stripped out all the features for every premium user who supported you early on. Thanks for that. Now please go BLEEEP yourself. Your app is worth $10 one time at best. Not $39, let alone $39 A FREAKING YEAR! I’m gonna take this up with Apple..Version: 6.4.4

Apple Watch with Bedtime ModeTried a few nights on my Apple Watch, and was very happy with results on the first morning in terms of the intelligent wake up during the 30 min default window, but my Sleep in the Health app (iOS 14.4.2) recorded the correct time sleeping while Sleep Cycle consistently showed hours less, both as being asleep and being in bed. I did not put my watch or iPhone on silent mode just to be safe that I could hear the alarm the first few nights. Then I tried using Apple Bedtime mode (without alarm) where I edited the end time to end before the Sleep Cycle alarm window started, but the Sleep Cycle alarm did not sound. Now third day the same. This morning, after oversleeping an hour, I chose the Sleep Cycle app from the apps running in the background on my watch and as soon as I’d chosen it the Sleep Cycle alarm sounded immediately albeit an hour late. Can you please get it to work with Bedtime mode? This is not the same as silencing my phone and putting watch in Nighttime mode manually since I’d like them to be silenced during sleep but un-silenced automatically when I wake up, preferably when Sleep Cycle chooses to alarm, but at least when the Apple Sleep period ends that morning..Version: 6.15

Early adopterAs someone who paid when the app was in its infancy — back in 2012 — I’m deeply disappointed that early users have not been grandfathered in to keep the features they had paid for..Version: 6.23.41

Consistently unreliableEdit: updated app since dev feedback, still having the same errors, the alarm not going off issue seems even worse now and others are reporting it also. I would recommend avoiding this app completely - it’s degraded significantly in quality over time. App crashes/stops working randomly some nights - has made me late too many times. Do not trust Sleep Cycle as your alarm - some nights after setting it up and I can see it tracking/listening before bed, and then in the morning I’ll wake up late with a “good morning” notification and NO ALARM and all of the data it was collecting overnight is completely gone as if I didn’t turn it on, even though I did and the app is greeting me as if I did and before sleeping I can see it “working”. It’s not a consistent error, but enough that I can’t trust it to actually do its two most important functions. Might recommend investing into a wearable smart device instead for something reliable and accurate. *I bought this app a long time ago*.Version: 6.21

Was great when it worked.I have been using this app for at least 10 years without an issue until the past couple of months and now it is completely unreliable. I can’t count on it to go off when it is suppose to anymore. That’s the one job it is suppose to do. You set an alarm to go off at a certain time and it can’t even do that anymore..Version: 6.22.3

UnstableThis app was great the first few months I used it, but now it randomly quits soon after I fall asleep, a couple of times per week. That makes it pretty unreliable as the alarm won’t go off unless it stays active/stable all night…. I have gone back to my usual alarm and a different sleep tracker app instead - at least I won’t be late for work this way!.Version: 6.22.27

NOT WATCH SERIES 5 READYVery disappointed the app isn’t watch s5 ready, but overall a decent app. I will have to find another app for the watch and leave this one out..Version: 6.4.2

Disappointing and mediocreI’ve been using sleep cycle consistently for over 2 years now, and I’ve had premium for a year. I’m disappointed to say that even though I’ve always been optimistic about this app, it’s just not that good. The time in bed compared to time asleep is always inaccurate. The sleep recordings record way too much static background noise. The most annoying thing is that in the last few months the app has been crashing overnight, so you lose all of the data for that night and it ruins your sleep report. It’s gotten to the point where this app only works 3 or 4 days out of the week, it’s always really spotty and is no longer reliable. As for the premium features, there is not enough content to justify a 30 dollar price tag. Seeing your data on the graphs is nice, but they are too general and there aren’t enough tools. I want to be able to see biweekly data, compare sleep statistics between months, see different groupings of data besides what’s currently available. I would suggest sticking with the free version of the app since the data is lackluster, and the nighttime audio recordings never work well. It’s very upsetting having to write this review after using this app for so long, but it’s ridiculous. Add more content to premium or lower the price. Most importantly, stop your app from crashing..Version: 6.21

Power drainerThis new watch app drain battery so fast, nearly 50% per night. And why on earth u turn on mic on watch when u have ur phone next to you!.Version: 5.5.0

Changes with Sleep Aid and Alarm FlawsI generally like this app, but there are certain flaws that drive me crazy! One of them is that occasionally (1/75 nights at most I would guess) the alarm never goes off. My phone did not restart during the night, and the screen isn’t even off. Once I wake up and move my phone it will start going off, but nothing at all before that, which is incredibly annoying, and has now forced me to add another alarm to make sure that at least that one will go off if SleepCycle fails. The second issue is more of a minor annoyance, and although I don’t claim to know anything about app development, seems super fixable. The sleep aid option used to have an “all night” option, but now the longest you can have it on is 90 minutes. That’s not a huge problem at my dorm because I have a white noise machine, but whenever I go home or travel anywhere it’s super annoying because I either have to use a different app to produce white noise on my phone (which interferes with the microphone-based sleep tracking) or buy a white noise machine to travel with. It just seems like an issue that is so easily fixed, and such a no-brainer, because some people (myself included) will wake up in the middle of the night and not know why, only to realize that the noise turned off!.Version: 5.4.5
