Sleep Cycle - Sleep Tracker for Positive User Reviews

Alien technology!!!I love waking up early but I struggle so much actually doing it. I literally set about 5 alarms to try to get myself out of bed. And if I don't set an alarm (because I read your body will wake itself up when it has had sufficient rest) i sleep for 10-12 hours. My first night using this app I was a little weary about if it would actually work. I set a few other alarms after when it was supposed to wake me up just so I wasn't late. BUT IT WORKED! It went off about 6:20 because I said I wanted to get up between 6:15 and 6:45 and I woke up turned it off and was expected to fight myself to stay awake like norma. This didn't happen. I felt perfectly rest and felt like I had energy all day. I fell like this app is some kind of alien technology used to give me more sleep in order to prepare me for a study they are doing. Or that this is the technology Batman used in order to only have to sleep 2 hours a night. Even if you are skeptical I would say try it out. I haven't used the premium features that you have to pay for, and with only using the free section this is my opinion. Try it! Just seize the opportunity to easily wake up in the morning. Or spend thousands of dollars on a new mattress. I guess it's your choice..Version: 5.4.4

Early AdopterI paid for the advanced features years ago. Some recent hick-ups but that has since been sorted. Really appreciate the fact that you respect your early adopters! Thank you..Version: 6.23.34

Useful for my health issuesI haven’t had the app for long, so maybe I’ll feel different about it in the future. So far, however, I find it incredibly useful in not just monitoring my sleep - which I like analysing since I have had various difficulties with sleep for years. All of the things that it monitors and tracks as having an effect on my sleep also have an effect on my mental health. As someone who struggles with depression and anxiety, it’s so much easier to keep track of the little things I do each day that I don’t think about and gradually have a much bigger impact on me. This app, alongside Screentime - where my devices tell me just how much time I’m spending on them - are really good warning systems for when I’m treating my health with too little care, or when outside factors are likely to be affecting my mood so I can mentally prepare for it rather than have seemingly inexplicable bad days that leave me feeling helpless against myself. That’s not even mentioning the gentle wake up the app allows me to start the day off right - especially important because I am NOT a morning person and on bad days I struggle to get out of bed at all..Version: 5.6.1

Warm Breeze alarm sound needs to be bannedApps great but had to change from the “warm breeze” alarm sound as it gave my PTSD hearing it at 4:45am every morning. “Sunrise” is much better and doesn’t give me a fright when I wake up..Version: 6.16.3

Crashing recently. NOT ReliableUpdate2: still crashing. Canceling my subscription. You should be more open and clear about this problem. An alarm app that doesn’t reliably go off in morning is completely unacceptable. Update: The comments of wanting to look more closely are bogus. I emailed so they could look at my case. The canned response:”we are aware of issues. Set a backup alarm”. Please fix, I will cancel my premium if no definitive stated fix soon. One job for alarm: Wake me up at the time I set. All else is pointless without this being reliable. ****++++previous review++++****** Used for a couple years with no issues. Recently, past couple months has crashed in middle of night thus no alarm. Thankfully no early flights but the app crashing is a BIG PROBLEM. Previously would have rated 5 stars but this needs to be fixed. Note I’m a premium user but if not fixed soon I’ll need to move on. Need reliability first. Please fix and state what was wrong, not the typical “bug fixes and stability improvements”. This isn’t a garbled font this is a core issue..Version: 6.22.6

Don’t like do not disturbI have been using this app for just over a week now. Though I’m not entirely sure I trust the trends that it’s recording, I do definitely feel better waking up, less like, urrgghhh and more like I can actually get up in a reasonable time. I do think all the premium stuff would be good, but I’m not paying that much for it! One thing that is bugging me, and I think needs to be changed, is the do not disturb feature. I have missed a phoned call from the ambulance service this morning relating to my brother, and only discovered the voicemail 6 hours later! There are NO settings in the app that I can turn this off. While I understand why they put this into the app, they need to let users decide whether to use it, and I already use the Apple do not disturb settings, which allows me to pick and choose what calls and notifications come through already. It’s enough to make me not want to use the app for fear of missing something like this again!.Version: 5.7.4

Love it! Love it! Love it!I have been using this app every single night for a very long time. Like 8-10 years?? Time flies! I am a huge fan and constantly recommend it to friends and family. I purchased the premium version back before it became a paid subscription so I am grandfathered in on the features that were present at that time. So I can’t comment on some of the newer updates, but I will say that as an alarm clock, white noise machine, and a way to reference and track your sleeping habits— it is excellent! I have a tower fan next to my bed and it still records clearly and tracks my sleep schedule within an acceptable range. The alarm clock works very well. I really appreciate that it gradually gets louder. I also love that to snooze it all I have to do it nudge my phone. No pressing buttons or looking at a bright screen. Really great work on this app and thank you for keeping up with it. The fact that this app has been consistently reliable for 8+ years is remarkable and really speaks for itself on the hard work that has been put in to it by this team..Version: 6.22

Works very well! The app works very well! Not sure if it’s optimised to work in par with a Bluetooth speaker though as I feel as if it can’t get an accurate reading on the awake times? Also it would be great if the sleeping sounds that are more like music tracks could be skipped through or set to a time-stamp.Version: 6.8

This actually works'Helps me wake. Nothing more, nothing less. The fact that you can lock the device while still having the ability to track your sleep - that’s a win for me. Plus I don’t need to keep it near me while I sleep..Version: 5.4.5

Great appI have used it for almost 2 years and the different stats that are tracked help me figure out when and why I get my best sleeps..Version: 6.8

Need subscription for most of the featuresUsed it for over a year and love it but I had to cancel the yearly subscription last month and now I can’t listen to a single thing when going to sleep. I miss my ambient music - I’d even settle for classical but that’s not free either! Another thing I can’t access without paying my is when I go to sleep and if there are sounds recorded I can’t listen to the recording, also I can’t access any data in the weekly report apart from just the average time in my bed! When you have a subscription it’s great though and I love the nice alarm options in the app - they’re so much nicer to wake up to!.Version: 6.22.22

Feedback for the developersI love parts of the app, especially the stories and the fact I’m waking up easier because I’m not in a deep sleep but ….. multiple times it’s told me I’ve been asleep when I know for a fact I’ve been awake and even gotten up and left the room. It’s said I’ve been sleep talking when I’ve actually been awake talking to the dog - so the journal and statistics are not accurate. Also it doesn’t recognise birds singing so maybe you could add that to your list of noise options. I was initially going to recommend this to friends but the longer I’ve used it I’ve come to see that it’s really not accurate..Version: 6.17.3

Great but has annoying watchOS bug.Love this app but some reason when using this app on a Apple Watch SE the alarm bugs out and will keep going off m. Rebooting my watch was the only way to stop it. Haha.Version: 6.10.3

Not happy !I have been using this app for over a year paying quarterly payments as per your payment structuring. All my payments have been on time but yet you have not updated my AP and now it’s not working . Gutted ! Loved it !! No one has emailed me back ... very disappointed !.Version: 5.4.5

Not very accurate but can be good enough for waking upFirst off, I appreciate the free version of this app and rated accordingly. I’ve had it for several years and have used it for periods of time on and off. Lately, it seems like it’s less accurate in tracking my sleep patterns. I sometimes have insomnia. I’ll have trouble falling asleep one night and stay awake in bed for over half an hour, but the app says I fell asleep within 10 min. It also doesn’t detect when I wake up in the middle of the night, even when I get up. On nights where I wake up many times, it says my sleep quality is over 85%. The Journal will also show the line at that time within the sleep range and sometimes even close to deep sleep. Maybe it isn’t less accurate, but my nightly sleep is more disrupted, so I notice it more? Sometimes it feels like the app is waking me up at times when I still feel tired/groggy now. I do want to note that it’s not always inaccurate! It just depends on what you’re looking to get out of the app. But anyway, I’m looking for an app with more accurate sleep tracking now..Version: 6.16.2

Agréable se réveiller si doucement...J'aime pouvoir me mettre des rappels aussi souvent et la possibilité de choisir une sonnerie douce. J'aime cette appli..Version: 5.4.3

1 issueI’m a big fan of the app but I have one issue that concerns me, a few nights ago I had the alarm set to wake me up at 11:00am ( I’m a night worker). I expected to wake up to the nice calming usual alarm, but instead was woken up at 9:00am by a very loud and distressing repeated robotic beeping. Three quick beeps in succession which repeated, I remember hearing it in my dream for ages only to awake to find it was my phone making the noise. When I turned my phone on there was nothing indicating that the noise should be coming from it, I remember searching through my alarms and checking whilst the noise was happening only to find I had no alarms set (on the clock app on my phone), the loud noise only stopped after I closed the sleep cycle app. Apart from this, a great app !!!.Version: 6.22.23

Love itWorks brilliantly, especially the alarm which is always such a gentle way to wake up. Recommended. Edit 1 March 2022. For a while now this app will stop recording movements and give me a flatline reading and a “very few movements” warning. It’s super annoying because I miss out on data for that day and have to reboot my phone so that it will work for a few more days. It was happening with an older version of the app and whatever iOS version I had on my phone previously, but I now have the latest version of the app and iOS 15.3.1 and it’s still happening. Please fix!.Version: 6.22.6

Powerful by mixed experiences of accuracySleep cycle is no doubt a powerful app with a lovely UI, some great functionality (I love the ability to add tags and see what may be contributing to sleep issues) and I think the pricing is fairly reasonable. I would like it if there was greater consistency with regards to the data collected by the AW app vs iPhone. For example, if I use my AW app only, I’m not asked about my mood when I wake up. I also lose the snoring functionality. Perhaps my biggest issue is the lack of any way of correcting obvious tracking mistakes. The app said I was awake between 5am-6am today, which wasn’t true but the only way to stop the data skewing your averages is to delete the whole day. An edit raw data function would be quite nice in my opinion..Version: 6.22.10

This is AMAZINGI’ve always had trouble trying to get up in the morning from my normal alarm so I decided I’m just going to get a proper app. I was looking for some good app that will help me and I came across sleep cycle. It looked really good and had great features I tried it for the first few days and it was great!! I happily woke up in a light sleep and I actually was ready to get out my bed instead of my normal alarm which was insane!! I also love how as soon as you wake up if tells you have long you slept for unlike other sleep apps you have to wait along time just to find how long you slept that night?! Sleep cycle is just so easy to use and is absolutely great for people who have trouble waking up in the morning! Even though I don’t have the premium it still works great and fine! So I am very impressed with how great this app is! Question- Does sleep cycle still work even with people sleeping in the same room near your phone or can it mess up the cycle a bit hopefully not because I have roommates how like to snore and I hope that doesn’t affect anything!!😀 5 stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.Version: 6.4.3

Good alarm, some glitchesI really like the flexible alarm. It works pretty well, and even though it isn't perfect at detecting my level of sleepiness, I like it better than a regular inflexible alarm. I also like having the time I go to bed and time I wake up recorded, as it's nice to reference, although there are times when I will sleep in after the alarm woke me up. I don't like the snooze feature. I wish it wouldn't snooze automatically when I touch my phone. I found that encouraged me to snooze, so I haven't had that feature on for a while, and sometimes I'll put on a regular alarm on my phone to snooze if I choose. I guess that works just fine for me, besides my wake time being inaccurate. But the biggest reason I decided to leave a review is that it seems to have stopped working well. Every time I go on to it, it will load really slowly when I scroll and then just freeze. And last night, I set up the sleep cycle and everything, and then it just buzzed at me (a single buzz) this morning with its little Good morning! message five minutes after the thirty minute windows I gave and zero sleep analyzed or anything recorded for last night. It is not really working anymore..Version: 6.16.3

Where have all the stats gone!?!Dear Sleep Cycle What have you done? You stated that all of the original features remain in this visual rework however, that’s clearly not the case. Put simply, where at the numerical statistics for anything longer than seven days gone? Now when changing period of observation within a specific fittest category worth the grass change right up to complete data as before, the textual average hello remained for just seven days. So your original statement that all features have a present before having carried over is incorrect. I have been a subscriber to your app since around 2000 and, for over seven years now, I have become an expert user thriving and driving both my sleep and that of my family on the ability to compare specific numerical data across the differing period of observation. This update now deprives us of this key capability which differentiated yourself from the rest the market and enable me to drive and manage our sleep effectively. I am sure that I am not alone in speaking for most significantly long-term users whom have been making use of these key functional elements within your app, in saying that, without this functions, your app becomes of questionable use. I would urge you to reconsider your redevelopment and absence of these stats accordingly as I along with his other expert long-term users will after the best part of a decade of use be forced to look elsewhere for the data which you have deprived us of access to..Version: 6.0

Great potential but no support - updateWhen trying to add a sleep note using the "edit" function after the sleep session has been completed the app rejects the note due to a "network error" -- the app doesn't provide a way to obtain direct online support even for a premium user, which I am. However, I went through the process of submitting a query and there was no response until I posted this negative review...then I received a nice email from the developer suggesting that "I needed a wifi connection and to restart the device" lol Well he didn't know what my knowledge base or that I was a "power user" so that's a minimal response but understandable... I guess. He did offer to follow up if I still had a problem and now I have a direct email address to the developer. Awesome right? Great service and was about to give 5* to the app and kudos to the developer. I responded that I'd already checked both out right away before contacting the company. No response again a month later. So I'll keep the one star rating for absence of responsibly addressing a functionality issue, though admittedly a minor part of the utility of the app..Version: 5.4.3

Almost perfectI’ve used Sleep Cycle for almost two years now and I can’t imagine my life without it. That being said, your recent Apple Watch update really needs some work. I’ve used the Apple Watch app for two days now. The first morning after, I noticed my battery was at 66% even though when I went to bed it was at 100%. Last night it was at 80%, and I woke up to my battery at 29% this morning. This is unacceptable. What is the app doing that is destroying my watch’s battery? It seems to me like my phone is still the device doing all the tracking, and the watch just reacts based on what my phone is sensing (i.e., my phone detects I’m snoring so my watch vibrates). The only thing the watch app does independently is measure my heart rate, and any of the other sleep tracking apps do that as well without this huge battery drain. I’ve been using two separate sleep tracking apps because no app did everything I wanted until you released your companion app for the watch. Until you fix the battery drain, I’ll have to go back to that, but I really look forward to any updates you have for this issue..Version: 5.5.0

Long time user - love this appI absolutely Love this app. I have been using this for the past six years, and have always found it super insightful and easy to use. The one thing I would really like to see though is more compatibility with third-party devices. I recently purchased a Garmin watch hoping that I could get more accurate heart monitoring. Unfortunately the app doesn’t connect with Garmin watches at all which is unfortunate, and leaves me now needing to check three different apps for my sleep data instead of just two (I also use Rise to track my energy levels throughout the day). I will continue to use sleep cycle still but I really wish it would support more watch devices..Version: 6.17

App CrashesI've been using this app almost everyday for 5.5 years now and it's been great to me, only a couple of times has it crashed in the middle of the night. However, more recently, I have missed two meetings in the span of two weeks due to the app crashing during the night and no alarm going off. This really hampers the greatness of the app if it cannot self sustain. The devs need to find a way to force priority for this app or to make sure the phone environment prior to setting the alarm is setup to be least likely to cause a crash. Maybe even have the app set an alarm through Apple's iOS clock as backup and in the case the Sleep Cycle alarm is never turned off in the event of a crash, the Apple alarm will initiate. Please get this fixed..Version: 6.17.3

Why I love sleep cycle.Sleep Cycle is amazing app to see how well you sleep and it’s good for your health. It supports you throughout the night while you sleep and it’s reliable. The one down thing about the app is you have to pay a lot for th premium but the premium is amazing. It gives you all your information about how you sleep what you do when you sleep and ways to make us sleep better. This app is an app to live with for the rest of ones life and could be enjoyed all the time. One of the amazing features is when you set a time to wake up it is slowing preparing you to wake up, it doesn’t just make a noise and keeps snoozing itself till you wake up, it makes a first noise, stops gives you five minutes and make another soft noise and the later the time gets the louder it rings, until the time you have to wake up. The one main thing that I love about the app it monitors how deep you are in the sleep and it records your snoring, which is extremely helpful and I think it is extremely accurate. Everybody should download Sleep Cycle that is going to the best decision you ever make..Version: 5.7.4

Not for couples- sadlyI used to use this app when it was just myself and my cat. Which was rather hilarious when it would mistake her purring for snoring. Hehe. But now that I sleep in the same bed as my partner, who has sleep apnea and thusly snores-a lot-, and also wakes up a lot, the app isn’t working so well anymore. It’s mistaking their sleep habits for mine. I am a very heavy sleeper and for the most part sleep right through my partners snoring, tossing, getting up multiple times a night (though the app has recorded me talking in my sleep a few times). But this also means I can, will, and have, slept through **dozens** of alarms. We set them on multiple devices, scattered around the room and even some in the bathroom. I will yell at them, and on occasion simply unplug the device in a half dazed stupor. Then go right back to sleep. For hours. I regularly sleep 14 hours, sometimes more if there’s nothing scheduled the next day. So—when it was just me and the cat this worked wonderfully! I actually would indeed wake up refreshed, usually, and pretty darn easily too. Perfect for a night owl who was scheduled to get up at 4am for work. Ugh. Perfect for that. Just…not when your partner snores and gets up every 3 hours and can get back to sleep without watching TV for a while. The poor app thinks I’m awake..Version: 6.16.3

Removed watch app with no warningWhy did they just remove the watch app all of a sudden? No warning beforehand is bad and then no explanation afterwards is even worse. So disappointed, recommended this app to everyone and now I’ll have to look for an alternative..Version: 6.1.2

Can now drift off wake up early! 😀This app has greatly helped my sleep /wake competency. I am able to fall asleep much easier with the guided voice which I really like. I also wake up early and easily thanks to the smart touch snooze alarm which is a game changer. Overall a great app, tracking seems reasonably accurate, although it’s hard to tell, but for an app, it seems good and generally reflects how I feel when I’ve woken up. My only gripe would be that it doesn’t sense body presence, just sound. So if I leave the room, it can think you’re asleep and give a false reading! Also I’ve been awake in the night and it hasn’t properly sensed that. So upgrading its technology would be good, but for practical, everyday purposes the tracking format seems sufficient. Thanks for this app, and for providing a solid enough free version. I’ll no doubt upgrade at some point..Version: 6.17.3

Highly recommended!Very good app, pretty much faultless to be honest. Though I would like a feature when the alarm is in use that tells you how much time is left until you wake up as I feel that could be beneficial when you are going to sleep or wake up in the middle of the night. Other than that, it's honestly the best alarm app I've come across and probably the best app on my phone. Highly recommended! Update: pretty much the same comments. Love every feature really, but I've had issues in the past when I'd set a song from my music to wake up to, and it had reverted to an app sound within 1 or more uses of the alarm (using every night). I don't know when exactly it would have reset because it was selected to my music when I set the alarm, and it took a few days possibly to realise this..Version: 6.22.23

Sleep CycleGreat insight to my sleep patterns & has really helped me refocus on a healthy sleeping pattern. Previous to using this I was setting 6 morning alarms on my phone and snoozing them to the point of rushing around for work in the morning as I really struggle waking. The smart alarm gradually and gently wakes me whilst still in bed. I’m feeling like I’m falling like awake before getting out of bed which is the best part of the app for me! No more panic & running around grumpy like I’ve been dragged out of a warm cocoon against my will 😊 I have mild sleep apnea, it’s been intriguing being able to track, monitor and actually listen to the amount & regularity of my snoring & after longer use I can see what might be impacting the quality of my sleep along with making some lifestyle changes. The only reason I’m knocking a star off is it appears to capture my audio books, not a major problem. It would be even better if they would integrate more human interaction on different wellbeing subjects into the app, maybe weekly podcasts etc but in all honesty for the price it provides me with what I need & does what it says on the tin. Probably asking too much 😄 reasonably priced for the upgrade, not out of reach & ridiculously expensive, to me worth the money. Hope that helps.Version: 6.22.51

Missing Apple Watch app?I have been using this for years and love it, really loved the Apple Watch feature that came later on aswell but I suddenly can’t find it with my new updates. I recently got a new watch with the intention of tracking these things and can no longer find it.. a touch disappointed.Version: 6.8.1

WORKS!!! I feel alert when I wakeI have been using this app for 5 nights and I'm so impressed. I have been miserable almost everyday for months as I seem to wake up during REM or deep stage of the sleep cycle (I know from Fitbit sleep analysis). Waking during R.E.M. or deep stages of the sleep cycle makes me miss my morning workouts because I can't seem to open my eyes, and it also makes me tired throughout the day. I was searching on google and this fantastic app was recommended. Now I wake up during the light stage only, and I feel sooooo refreshed it's shocking what a difference it makes..Version: 5.4.5

I love sleep cycleI literally use sleep cycle every single night. i’ve been using it since 2014 (i was 11 at the time) and have never looked back. i fell in love with it immediately. i remember when there were only the four alarm noises, i still use the same alarm noise i did when i was 11, the sunrise one! if this app ever leaves the appstore i will die 😂 no but fr i love this app and it’s so fun to look back at all my nights of sleep. right now i have 1,237 nights, but i suspect there is a lot more that’s been lost between the switching of phones. the current tally of nights is from 2019 to present. i wish i had all my data from before but oh well! i use premium and it’s definitely worth it for me, but i can understand where others might not feel the same. it is expensive but as a long time user i rely on it heavily and really enjoy it, it’s part of my routine. a feature i would really love to see is the total time spent in each sleep phase (i.e. deep sleep, sleep, awake) there’s the graph that kinda shows you, but i would love it if there were numbers to break it down (i know it wouldn’t be 100% accurate numbers lol but just an estimate would be nice even) otherwise, i am really happy with the app. thanks for all the years you’ve put into it, developers!.Version: 6.23.19

My opinionsI have so far been using this app for five years. I enjoy everything apart from: 1. The app UI being blue. Blue light is not good for sleep. 2. I often remember waking up in the middle of the night and the app doesn’t record it. Or I’m asleep the whole night and the app says I woke. 3. The sleep quality measurement doesn’t seem to account for waking up in the middle of the night. The quality measurement should take into account 90 minute sleep cycles (if they are possible to measure) and how waking up in the middle of the night affects them..Version: 6.10.3

This app has helped me!I am so unorganized it’s ridicules! I would never wake up at the right time to get ready for school or understand why I felt like crap in the morning! This app helped me better understand my habits and realize how bad my current sleeping pattern was! I have vastly improved my structure (regarding my sleep habits) and am very happy with the result! I am so thankful I found this app! It’s worth the money I payed! ❤️❤️❤️ get it if you need the help like I did!.Version: 5.7.4

Absolutely positively Love this APP !!!!I always wake up at night close to hourly, I couldn’t figure out that I was never satisfied in the morning with how I slept or why I woke up exhausted every morning . So I was browsing through just App Categories to find something new to pique my interest when I came across this type of alarm clock that will gradually wake up over the course of 45 minutes instead of just being woken Abruptly and it makes an amazing difference . Every morning when you wake up, you’ll have a sleep report explaining how deep of sleep you were in throughout the night . It tells you why and how many times you woke up and it’s sooo cool that it can do that . There’s so much more too it but the last I’ll mention is that, the App is not only an alarm clock, it will also pay ambient sounds to help you fall asleep . You used to have to keep your phone under your pillow for it to be an accurate report but now it can be accurate while just being on the dresser next to you . I completely recommended whole heartedly . It’s so well worth the small amount of money you pay to get it ..Version: 5.5.3

I love the wakeup in light sleep phase featureI never sleep through my alarm anymore, and it’s no longer a struggle to wake up even if I haven’t had much sleep! I love that I can rely on the snooze not to snooze too much, too, so I don’t fall back asleep. This alarm is definitely the best feature of the free ones. It’s also pretty cool to see my sleep analysed and actually find out how much I sleep vs time spent in bed. At first I was suspicious of how well it could analyse based on sound/breathing, but it seems fairly accurate with regards to what I experience..Version: 6.9.2

Cancelling the app down to freeHi. This app is fantastic. Started using the app for free. Wanted to ensure family had the app but can’t download unless it’s paid. Can cancel later. So I just checked my install - it took half an hour on Apple to work out that I subscribed in July 2011!!!! Should have been faster. Have been using computers for 40 years including programming - this is an amazing unacceptable situation and yourselves and Apple need to fix it. What do non-techies do? Seriously it’s rip-off alley when a user can’t just cancel. Stop it. Secondly I can’t trust your app cancellation process to sign up my whole family - some will cancel to the free status. I can’t even cancel my own application as my 2011 sign up don’t want off a off-ramp for my 2023 signup……. Can you provide answers please? It’s a great app - can’t speak more highly but this ‘walled garden’ is unethical and simply robbery..Version: 6.22.51

Wake up gently2014 review Love this app! Best alarm I've ever used. Been using it over a year and very pleased with it. One thing that'd be useful is being able to change the alarm time during the night. Sometimes I sleep badly and could do with delaying my alarm time. Sadly this isn't possible without cancelling and restarting the process, i.e. Having 2 records for one night. Apart from this a great app! Highly recommended. 2019 review Been using the app for about 6.5 years! Looking at my previous review, There’s the feature to change alarm in the night now which is helpful. Thank you 🙏🏽 Also loving the latest update with the modern icons and useful info - steps, snoring, morning heart rate, etc is user friendly and useful Also love the fact it now tells you the moon’s current cycle when you go to sleep. Shame this isn’t recorded on the journal page..... looks like there’s a space next to the morning heart rate to pop in a moon symbol with the correct phase (exactly as shows during the night on the night time alarm)? I sleep better when moon is in its fullest cycle so it would be good to see this on the daily page as well as in the trends. I’m sure this will be added, so thanks in advance 🙏🏽 Keep up the good work 👏🏽👏🏽 still loving this app! 🥰 Thank you 😊.Version: 6.0.4

HonestlyI always use this App to monitor my sleep. Every time I change my mobile this is one of the first Apps that I will download onto my new device. I have invested in the premium paid section before but lost it due to multiple downloads. It was worth the extra information but I feel that I won’t keep purchasing it every time once I have lost the password to reinstall the paid features. I am happy with the level that I get without the extra features anyway and continue to use on a daily basis for a long long time. Also hoping that my sleep information will help towards a better understanding of sleep for the scientific community in the future. Well done guys keep up the good work..Version: 6.22.11

Good measure for my nights sleepLive it, never the best sleeper this has told me a lot about my sleep patterns and helped deal with it better. Highly recommend it. Wish I had it years ago, never to late..Version: 6.22.4

The best!!!I heard about this app from a YouTuber and so I decided I would try it out. Best choice of my life! It helps me wake up feeling refreshed and shows me how I slept last night, although I would like it if you didn’t just not give me an alarm after my wake up time, because I might oversleep. Now I can wake up at 7:00 in the morning instead of 10:40. This app really helped me be more productive during the day and I highly recommend it, even better, it’s free! I honestly don’t think I could ever go back to waking up to a regular alarm clock anymore. I feel a tiny bit tired but that’s just because I woke up early and I didn’t get enough sleep the previous night. Apart from that I feel much more awake using Sleep Cycle than without, it also records your snoring, just to let you know it uses your microphone to monitor your sleeping, but ignores all noises. If you sleep with someone else don’t worry, it won’t record them. Know that you should just try this app out, and I’m not even on the premium and I still think it’s the best alarm app so far! Thank you so much for saving my mornings Sleep Cycle!!!😊.Version: 5.7.6

Very satisfied but have an ideaIs it possible to add an intermediate alarm? I try to wake up once around 2-3h before I need to wake up to initiate lucid dreams. If I set this alarm, the night ends and it doesn’t count the remaining hours of sleep or I use another app but it wakes me outside of REM sleep. Would be an awesome feature. Thanks, loving the app otherwise! :).Version: 6.10.1

Worth the subscription!I pay for very few subscriptions but I use this app so much and it is so incredibly useful that I’ve just renewed for the second year. The statistics you can compile on your sleep are very useful and you can even compare to the national average of your country! I have struggled with sleep for over 10 years and this app has helped to figure out a cause and find a useful treatment option! I could find out the relationship between how much I snore or talk in my sleep and my stress level and sleep quality. The sleep quality percentage even feels accurate so I know the data is real. If I wake up and feel really rested the sleep quality matches how I feel and is always 89% and up. And it’s not all about how many hours I slept! I might sleep the same amount of time and feel very tired, and my sleep score matches that too! In addition to the data, I use the sleep stories and sleep ambiance every night and while I have my favorites, it’s good to have quite a few options when I want something different. And my favorites never go away so that’s great too! My absolute favorite is “Scents” - I highly recommend it! The guides have a mixture of counting down, guided breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, and soothing descriptive storytelling. The subscription is a fantastic value as all of this is available for less than $10/month and for a drastic improvement in sleep quality it is well worth it!.Version: 6.23.39

Why isn't this built into the iPhone!?UPDATE:(This review is about a three and a half years old and it still is holds true) I can't imagine not having it now! It really really does work. An essential app! Very helpful if you feel tired after waking up, or need help going to sleep. It also quiets notifications while it's running, which is great. All the charts it gives you are awesome if you like stats! It's especially cool to see how your stats have changed over time, and where and how you slept in different locations. I've also learned how different things affect my sleep, such as even drinking tea or coffee; exercising, having a stressful day, or eating late. If you have an important thing to wake up for in the morning, set a few backup alarms, because although this app has only not woke me up perhaps 10-15 times out of about 750 nights using it (a 98.5% performance ratio), it might happen on an important day. If you don't have this app, get it immediately and use it every night! It's the first and last app I use every day, and I'm glad I'm hooked on it..Version: 6.16.3

Best alarm ever! But now I can’t use it??I have loved this app from the minute I found it. The alarm is my favorite feature, as I have a sleep disorder and find the alarm super easy to operate when I’m falling asleep, and set it up with shortcuts to turn my phone on do not disturb when the alarm turns on automatically! It still goes off regardless of whether I have my sound on or up on my phone! I used the app to track my apnea also, even just the free version in the beginning! But I accidentally deleted the app for a few days while on vacation, and now I added the app back, and can’t get a free version, can’t sign back in, says my log on expired?! I wouldn’t mind paying some for the app, but now that I use a cpap I don’t need to track the sounds of my sleep anymore, because there are none! I just wish I could use the alarm without having to pay the full price of $40/year. I know it’s not a terrible price, but not needing to use the full service of the app, I find it hard to justify! Please come out with an alarm only app! Or have a reduced feature price? I miss my alarm so much!!.Version: 6.23.36

Best sleep tracker I’ve ever used!I’m currently dealing with pretty severe insomnia and other sleep issues, so it’s really useful to be able to keep track of when I go to sleep so I can show it to people. I honestly don’t know how they do it, but it’s really accurate; I can’t think of a time it didn’t get my sleep/wake time spot on. It’s super easy to use, you just put it next to your bed and turn it on. Plus, the feature that records audio while you’re sleeping is really cool, I had no idea I talked in my sleep! I definitely recommend it!.Version: 6.17

I like it but one day it stop working and I can’t find solutionOne day I woke up in the middle of the night from some app notification sound. Since that day this app stops to mute notifications or call. I try to find a way to fix it but I can’t. Hope the crew can see this and send some solution..Version: 6.5

Love the app - just wish it had one featureI’m someone that goes to the gym early in the morning. I usually use the standard IOS clock for my alarm but I use sleep cycle to analyse my sleep. However, sometimes I forget to turn off sleep cycle and only do after the gym. I wish there was a way that I could edit the time I woke up, or manually enter when I got out of bed. Because it thinks I got up way later than I actually did if I forget to turn it off..Version: 6.22.42

Interesting but weather indication not appearingI’ve used sleep cycle for over a year now and I find it really interesting to see what affects my sleep - I’ve found that I snore more than I thought! Unfortunately over the last couple of months the weather has not been appearing with the alarm. Not a huge deal but it is very useful to see whenever I’m getting up early so I can prepare for the day Edit - I’ve just discovered that I can’t use my new Bluetooth headphones while sleep cycle is operating. This is a huge deal for me as listening to white noise/podcasts is essential to my ability to fall asleep. I now have to choose between headphones and sleep cycle :(.Version: 5.5.3

Tricky icon but good app overall. This app is good in doing what it promises. Even though there are a few premium features that you can access for free in other sleep-tracking similar apps. The data collected is not super accurate but still a little better than the average competition. I would say it’s an 4.5 points app in its category. Though it has a huge problem: instead of designing an original logo/icon they almost just did a copycat version of the original Apple “Alarm” app icon. Same orange background colour Apple uses for all their official timing apps, same white line, same stroke thickness and almost exact same design than the official Apple Alarm, so it is not possible to differentiate them. Can’t say if this was a thought move to trick user trying to open the Alarm clock feature, or if they tried to keep aligned with the Apple system, or if it is just laziness to hire a graphic designer to design their own logo. Anyway, this is too confusing and should be changed..Version: 6.13.2

Can we have multiple selection featureLook the app is pretty cool, but it’s been recognising the fridge noise as baby fussing, which is not just annoying but somewhat scary as well. The app does not learn that it’s electric nosies no matter how many times I’ve amend the recording description. Having said that, can we have the multiple selection feature? It’s alright really annoying to have 20+ entries of baby fussing recoding, when you don’t even have a baby and it’s just your fridge; I’d like to delete them all with multiple selection, instead of deleting them one by one. Also, can we have the feature to save some recording permanently? Sometimes the sleep talk is quite funny and I’d like to keep it Overall great app.Version: 6.16.3

MaralynI have used sleep cycle now for two years, it has become a routine in my life both evening and morning. In the evening I enjoy the stories they offer to help you drift off to sleep. In the morning I enjoy listening to a song of my choice as my alarm which I change regularly the night before , another fun part of my evening routine. I do my heart rate in the morning, listen to my snoring, always terrible, but checking out all the things that could have effected my sleep, even the moon. Overall the data it provides me with is incredible it has been helpful to not only me but to my Doctor, resulting I me having a sleep test which showed I had sleep apnea. Needless to say I have found this a great resource for my wellbeing..Version: 6.9

Essential sleep appI use this app every night. I am a super light sleeper and any alarm I set startles me awake no matter how quiet or ‘soothing’ the sound. Enter this guy. The wake-up window is like fairy magic or something and wakes me up during the optimal part of my sleep cycle so that I’m not jarred awake. It’s amazing. I really do love this app. That being said, I have two small nitpicky things that have to do with AirPod usage: If I wake up before my alarm and forget to cancel it, then pop in my AirPods and start watching something with audio, when the wake up alarm finally triggers, the audio of what I’m watching switches back to the phone SUPER LOUD. Yikes! And the second thing happens if I’m having trouble getting to sleep. Sometimes I need the aid of my AirPods to fall asleep and I have to turn on noise canceling. If I do that, though, I will not be woken up by this app. For some reason the sound of the ‘alarm’ will not be played through headphones, only the handset. Both of these scenarios play out very rarely for me so it’s not the biggest of deals, but the app response to them is consistent and I hope they make a change to fix them..Version: 6.23.39

Insomniac reliefHave suffered with insomnia since I was a teenager and had seen a ‘sleep coach’ at young age who provided tapes and strategies to combat the sleepliness, he passed away some time ago and for a long time I could never find anything even remotely similar to the relief he provided. Than during an extended bad period of insomnia I went searching hard for him, his practices and somewhere along that rabbit hole search found insight timer… it has and continues to be a welcomed and trusted part of maintaining a healthier sleep pattern like I experienced from my sleep coach all those years ago! I’ve also passed it onto my dad, nephew and various friends who have also benefited. Thanks insight timer!.Version: 6.22.23

Like a Fitbit, but you don’t need to exerciseI know lots of people use fitbits or apple health or step counters or whatever to keep track of the exercise they’re getting, and they can dedicate their life to that. every day they look forward to breaking their personal record. Now imagine putting that kind of motivation towards something just as important- sleeping well. We all “want” to get a good night’s rest, but few of us consider it a goal to actively work towards. This app makes it exactly that. being well-rested is now measurable like being fit, or eating well. Since I got this app, I’ve been going to sleep excited. I actively work towards getting that rare and magical 100% sleep quality, which is so hard to do sometimes, but so worth it. I downloaded the premium at a reasonable cost, and I love the feature which lets you keep track of daily habits and how they influence your sleep quality. For example, reading before bed on average boosts me 15%. Also, waking up is no longer the worst part of my day, thanks to always being woken in light sleep with a pleasant alarm sound. Actually life changing..Version: 5.5.3

Great! This app has made a huge difference for me. I used to wake up feeling immensely tired, no matter how many hours I had, but not now. It's got to do with (I believe) my circadian rhythms and at what point I wake up - I don't fully understand the science but I can say I feel much better..Version: 5.6.2

You should get the appThis thing lets you choose from either microphone or movement thingy I don’t know and it shows you how you slept and it actually is interesting and if you go into settings you can make it so then when you wake up you can rate on how you woke up. I also learnt a lot from this app as well and of course you won’t get why but you might know why at some point. And also I am wondering if there is going to be an update coming out soon. So yeah anyways five star more like 9 star (anyways if I did 10 star it would be too much stars) so by the way I thank the creators that created the app themselves too. So see yah 😴💤.Version: 5.7.1

Great little appGreat for simple monitoring of sleep. Shows how much & quality. Has alarm too. Edit: Latest update June 28, 2022, has added a clock to the NO wake-up page which I didn’t really notice as I was starting the app last night & it woke me real early, as I often have insomnia this was disruptive, it seems a bit nonsensical to have a alarm on the No wake-up page. I can’t see a off switch anywhere either..Version: 6.22.24

Can you fix bug where sleep aid randomly goes on?I have sleep cycle premium and really like it. However, sometimes during the night if you had a sleep aid playing before you went to sleep (and paused it when you wanted to fall asleep) it randomly will turn on in the middle of the night. It’s really annoying and more shocking then an alarm clock because you were in deep sleep. Can you fix this bug please? Cheers!.Version: 6.4.6

It’s become standard! What can I say other than I have use the app consecutively every night for 1671 days.. that pretty much speaks for itself. There are constantly adding new sounds as well as sleep audiobooks among many other things. People are paranoid about the government spying on you but I don’t mind that the app does it all night long listening to my sleep habits has helped me understand a lot about myself that I wouldn’t have figured out otherwise. It has an option to very subtly and gently wake you up and I have fallen in love with it! I used to go from the standard iPhone alarm blasting waking me up and wondering why I’m anxious and have a fast heart rate, Half of the time I’m awake and silencing my alarm with Sleep Cycle before I even hear the alarm just because of how subtle it is and I’m used to hearing it. I have it set to cycle random premium sounds so it’s almost never the same sound to wake up to every day which you think might get confusing but it’s actually a welcome change!Just give it a try for a week and if you don’t love it it was only a week but if you DO you love it then I have hooked you onto something amazing!.Version: 6.22.23

Lifetime purchaser long time userI do not recall when I brought this app stating anywhere that I am paying for the one version and any other versions to come I would need to pay a subscription, that’s not how things work. You pay for a app and any updates or changes are part of that initial purchase. I would like this rectified right away please. I changed it to 5 star because I use it everyday and it’s much better than the stupid iPhone wake up tones however I would like to see the original agreement..Version: 6.24.8

Long term userI downloaded this app when it first came out, so have used it for MANY years now. I’m a bit disappointed that features I have always used now I have to pay for. Another app that I’ve had forever that switched to a subscription offered 85% off for life seeming as I paid for it already, which I think was a nice thing to do for loyal customers... A great addition I can recommend would be a little section to the side or under where alarms are set which calculates how much sleep you’ll get between now and then. E.g. at 10pm you set an alarm for 6am, the app then tells you that you’ll get 8 hours of sleep. That would be awesome!.Version: 6.23.36

Wake ups are easy!I’m in love with this app! I originally bought it way back when and didn’t really get along with it at the time. But, about a year ago I invested in some Philips Hue bulbs, so, thought I’d give the app a go again as the idea of waking to slowly brightening lights during the darker months was super appealing. It didn’t disappoint! What I also love is the amazingly calming yet super effective wake up sounds which have kept me using the app even though I’m not using the Hue bulbs anymore. What I hadn’t expected to find helpful was the sleep tracking, but knowing whether I’ve been able to get to sleep quickly, whether I’ve stayed asleep and whether it’s been restful have really helped with my sleep and mood disorders. My only disappointment was having to pay again to use the backup and sync feature, as all my other premium features came across great..Version: 5.4.3

Don’t upgrade to premium - it steals your moneyI’ve been using the free version of this app for about three months now and loved it enough to upgrade to the premium subscription. However, despite the subscription being active and the app apparently knowing this, the app will not allow me to use the premium features that I’m paying for. I have an iPhone 12 pro and every time I try to view my statistics or listen to the audio the app has recorded it prompts me to upgrade before informing me that I’m already subscribed. I really hope that the developers fix whatever this bug is because as it is they’ve flat out scammed me out of my money.Version: 6.13.2

Very usefulI have been sing this app for about 2 years now. I really enjoy the ability to compare various nights sleep. I really like that I can make notes about elements of my day and see how my sleep changes. I also like that this app is continually improving. I am a part of something that is getting better. I’m not quite ready to wear my watch all night, but my iPhone next to my bed seems to work very well, even with my wife next to me. Suggestions: could there be a better way to make a suggestion rather than writing a review. I can’t find an obvious way to contact the developer within the app itself. Maybe it’s there, but not obvious. Also, sounds have improved but need a couple of tweaks. Since sounds have improved there is now a regular electronic buzz that is annoying. Sometimes louder sometimes quieter, but always there. This is new to the update. Also add dog barking to the list of sounds. Our dogs are often in the bedroom at night and at times they bark. It doesn’t wake me usually, but it would be good to identify it so it could be subtracted from snoring. Keep up the good work..Version: 6.13.3

Easy to useIt’s giving me finally a picture of what is happening and helping me make the changes to improve..Version: 6.0.7

Very good but one suggestionSo it all very good you know how it listens to your sleep and has the sounds but there is one problem where I think it really needs to fix. It’s the alarm. Now don’t get me wrong the sounds are great, the thing I want to talk about is how it goes off there isn’t an easy way to turn it off. I have used it for 2 nights and both times when I have woken up the alarm has gone off and I couldn’t turn it off. When you turn on your phone you can’t just click stop like with a normal alarm, you have to go into the app and swipe it or something like that. In the morning when it wakes me up, I don’t always think straight when I first get up. When it goes off I have to frantically turn it off so I don’t wake up my family (we wake up at different times). The second night my Touch ID wasn’t working so I had to put it my password quickly getting it wrong twice. I then went into the wrong app. I than just gave up and turned my phone. Making mornings hard which is the whole point on why I got this app so I wouldn’t be. So I really hope you can fix this Thanks Bye.Version: 6.3.1

Nice app! This is a pretty good app, I don’t regret downloading it. I don’t have the premium subscription, but it’s still good and everything works fine, it’s not like those apps where they give you one feature for free and make you pay for the rest. I’m not sure how effective the wake up window thing is... I often wake up at the very beginning or very end of the window, and I don’t really notice a difference in how I feel waking up using this vs a normal alarm. More often I just use the sleep tracking feature without the wake up window. My only other complaint is the alarm sounds. If I’m not already almost awake (I’ve noticed when I’m on a schedule, waking up at the same time everyday according to this app I sleep very lightly for like half an hour before) I can sleep right through it. Like, we all like nature sounds but they put me to sleep more than wake me up. And there’s no option for a normal alarm sound or some random jingle in the the Apple clock app. But other than that, it’s pretty great. The graphs are very nice, it tells you how much time you were actually asleep vs in bed, you can even look at a calendar and see your sleep quality over time which is really interesting. Would recommend!.Version: 6.7

Feature RequeatHey guys can you add a calculation to the sleep screen pls? Could you show the total hours and minutes from the wake up time to the current time eg: 6h 45min from now..Version: 6.23.9

Disappointing treatment of old usersMy rating a few weeks ago would have been 5. Thats no longer the case. I really like sleep cycle and have used it for about a year, it’s definitely the best smart alarm I have tried. However I was extremely disappointed that they just decided to stop users being able to set alarms one day out of the blue with no warning so I had to update to the new version where it’s no longer free. I have no issue paying for apps but this was a really shoddy way to treat existing users of your product. I only use the alarm functionality I am not interested in the rest of the features so quite frankly £25 is a ridiculous price and I will not be purchasing. You may wish to consider a much cheaper option for just the alarm.Version: 6.14.1

Long term userI wasn’t sure about this at the start. I was skeptic that it was telling me that I fell asleep far sooner than I do. I didn’t like that it woke me with beeping if I forgot to put my phone on charge but......after using it for 198 days, it has corrected my falling asleep time, iv found out my Health app tells me some of the info they ask me to pay for...it’s worth the cost, if your really worried about your sleep. I use it as my alarm and the first thing I do is check how long and how well iv slept with how I’m feeling. It maybe be a placebo effect but if it tells me iv had a good amount and quality of sleep, I feel good 🙂 I recommend this app and I do recommend paying for the subscription if you are worried about your sleep. Maybe they can add tips of how to overcome some of the reasons people get a restless sleep???.Version: 6.4.6

Worth the subscriptionProvides useful information your sleep. Beautifully designed. I’m using this App with an Apple Watch so I get a lot of data to analyse which isn’t difficult as everything is well laid out and clear. The developers have obviously worked hard to listen to feedback and improve it. I’m not surprised to see it won the Editor’s Award. I would ignore older reviews where people complain about free versions being limited to functionality, you get what you pay for. I think its definitely worth the annual subscription. But developers beware, don’t get greedy. This is a nice-to-have App, not a must-have App. I particularly like the Cabin Humm ambient sound and I’d like to see Car, Train etc added. Listening to water (unless its rain) when you’re in bed just doesn’t make sense. Less nature, more realistic ambiance please..Version: 6.23.38

I use this every nightI don’t write many reviews, but this app is so great. It’s the only app I’ve found that actually has spoken word stories done at a slow quiet pace that allows me to fall asleep easily. I’m a premium lifetime member, that’s how much I love this app. Other apps have story-telling that focuses on being entertaining instead of relaxing. I would rather have a smaller set of stories I can listen to and know I’ll sleep, than countless ones that are too stimulating - Calm for example is useless for me. Keep up the good work, Sleep Cycle. And please, keep the great spoken word stories, guides, poems, etc coming! :-).Version: 6.16.1

Really good. This has helped heaps with me being able to wake up easily, and it’s also super easy to use so you can adapt it to whatever suits you. I find that the quality of sleep readings aren’t necessarily completely accurate just because if I turn over to the other side of the bed it would have a different recording of sound, but I’m not too fussed about that the main thing for me is the alarm, and by typing in what things you’ve done that day that might affect your sleep it has made me more aware of what potential affects those things could have..Version: 6.8.1

Great app, date display is annoying. This is a great app for anyone who wants better feedback on and control over their sleep. My only problem is in the statistics page; I finish work late at night and often don't get to bed until the early AM hours, so I go to bed and get up on the same day. Despite this, the date displayed on the Statistics page is always 'across' two days, like "Sunday 13-14 May", even if all the sleep took place entirely on Monday the 14th, which doesn't make any sense. It's a trivial detail but I still wish I could do something about it..Version: 5.5.1

Outstanding App of its typeI was one of the first people to buy this app many years ago and still use it through many upgrades. I’ve purchased and installed many similar apps, including ones attempting to use the Apple Watch to detect sleep state and they all fall short of Sleep Cycle. This app is precise, reliable and simple to use as well as loaded with features. (You don’t want to be setting up buggy apps in both phone and watch, unreliable alarms makes you anxious) Moreover the displays of sleep state and snoring sounds are easy to understand. Sleep cycle uses algorithms working of the microphone and has always worked through air conditioning sound even those noisy portable units for me. You can switch it to use the motion sensor in which case you must leave the phone on the mattress. The snooze alarm is brilliant because the snooze intervals shorten each time, making it impossible to overs snooze and resets by simply moving the phone..Version: 5.4.5

Decent, yet buggyI’ve used this app for a year now, and it’s allowed me some of the best sleep/wake up cycles I’ve ever had. The gradual wake up tool is really good. My big problem, however, is that some nights, the alarm will not go off - as if the app crashed in the middle of the night. For obvious reasons, that’s a big issue, and unfortunately this happens too much to ignore. I shouldn’t really have to set two alarms, but I have to for this app. I’m dissapointed in that regard, but happy with everythg else. I’d reccomend this app when that problem dissapears for good..Version: 6.22.6

Amazing appThis app has a crazy amount of features i never knew i spoke in my sleep almost every night until i got this app, but it would be amazing if you guys could integrate the rem sleep stage into the charts because i want an clear view of when i’m in rem sleep, i’ve been interested in trying to lucid dream and i purchased a mask but i don’t know what time i’m in rem sleep. I have an apple watch which tracks my heart rate which spikes in rem sleep stages but it’s just so hard to understand, so if you could find a way to change the layout of sleep stages to a similar way as the oura ring it would be very helpful..Version: 6.16.3

A great appI’ve used this app nearly every night since 2010 so have amassed a stack of useful information which I use to change my sleep pattern. The developers have been very quick to respond to recent issues mentioned in feedback - thank you. I need reading glasses which I don’t wear to bed (!) and it would be useful to have a toggle switch to turn off notification prompts on the landing screen about new sleep aids or whatever, because I need to walk back upstairs to find my glasses to read the messages and then don’t sleep so well!! (Hence my 4* score) In an attempt to switch these off In settings I’ve hidden Insights, have set Sleep Aid ‘keep download to forever’ (in case the 20 day setting was triggering the messages). On a very positive note, from my previous feedback left I note that Sleep Cycle continues to evolve..Version: 6.22.3

Nice appI’ve had this app for several years now and will continue to repurchase it for as long as it’s available. I appreciate how gently it wakes me up rather than the jarring way normal alarm clocks do. I am so in tune to the sound of the alarm now I can have it fairly low and it still wakes me. You can have it record your quality of sleep without an alarm as well. Whether you want it to wake you up when it’s determined you’re out of REM sleep in a window 30 min-the exact time you need to wake up you can control that setting. Though the part that records sounds isn’t always accurate when it says I’m snoring (I rarely snore, but when I do, WOW😂) it’s interesting to listen to the background noise that it does pick up. It also measures your quality of sleep and you put in different things that happened throughout the day that could affect your sleep. I’d say it’s 75% accurate. So you can have an idea how you’ve slept and what different aspects of your day may have affected your sleep. All around definitely worth the money..Version: 6.13.3

Needs improvements on auto detection and watch integrationThe app the amazing, and the main idea of choosing the best time to wake you app based on the rhythm of your sleep is GENIUS! However, I’m personally deciding to not stay with the app for one reason, the app needs you to report that you’re asleep which is very impractical, it’s something is very easy to forget and there are a lot of cases in which I wake up, take a meeting to respond to some emails in beds and they get back to bed for a morning nap, this app won’t track all of that, a lot of apps out there are automatically detect that you have slept, especially if you have an Apple Watch, I’d believe this app will benefit a lot from improving their Apple Watch integration/auto detections/and looking into other more accurate vitals like heart beat, wrist movement, etc in addition to just listening to you..Version: 6.23.6

Long term userI remember paying $8 a year. For being a member back then I get a discount but still pay allot more. It’s worth every dollar..Version: 6.22.27

Good, but with 1 flawI’ve been using the app for about a year now. The app is excellent and highly recommend it. There is, however, one thing I’d like to pass to the developers: last night my device automatically updated in the middle of the night (which includes resetting the phone), my alarm was set prior to the update... after updating, the alarm didn’t turn back on, and thus I was almost late for work! I had to catch a ride to work at 7:30am, luckily my ride was running late so I still made it... however this bug should definitely be addressed. What if you had a train booked, and this caused you to miss your train and miss an important meeting?... be cautious, perhaps with something ultra important it would be best to use the built in alarm.Version: 6.1

Bye bye FitbitMy biggest complaint is I wish the buttons to snooze and turn off weren’t so tiny on the watch. I love the silent alarm but when I’m awoken from sleep (even if it is light), I’m still so fuzzy that it’s easy to cut my alarm off and go back to sleep. Either make snooze a big button and you have to scroll down to reach off, or not allow cutting it off via the watch, just from the phone. The phone should be next to our beds anyway. If nothing else, just make this an option in the settings for those of us who sleep a lot harder. Otherwise, I love the app. I LOVE the silent alarms and snoozes. My wife and son love it, too. Now I don’t get them up before the sun rises and I can sneak out to work without waking them. The insights are pretty cool. I did turn off the recording, though. There’s no company I’d let record me sleep. Cool feature if you want it. When I first got my Apple Watch I was sad about the battery life and that I didn’t have my Fitbit to track my sleep. I love tracking my sleep so much that I was actually wanting my Fitbit back. This is so much better than the Fitbit. The silent alarms are pretty powerful, and the full screen gives you so many more options than a Fitbit ever could. This made me love my Apple Watch. Bye bye Fitbit..Version: 5.5.3

Easy and informativeHelps me monitor my sleep and make changes. I like the hints and suggestions it gives. Easy and no issues..Version: 6.10

The best!I’ve been using this app for years, I’ve been using it since I had my iPhone 4. Amazing app and has been great over the years being able to have my sleep analysed and having an optimised wake up has been crucial every single day. I can’t express how amazing this app is. One particular function I just thought of that I don’t think is available in the app currently is an option to set an alarm to wake you up when you have had a certain amount of sleep, for example if it detects that you have fallen asleep at 11pm and you select a 9hr sleep it will wake you up either around 8am or 8am on the dot. Other than that amazing app!.Version: 6.3

Here’s why I deleted it after 4 yearsSo I’ve used this app for about 4 years with the subscription. It is a very good app. I love the data I have built up and it gives some insight. That said, the data is also pretty useless. Over time my sleep quality scores have gone up, but my sleep hasn’t changed. The scores it provides have gone up because the app learns YOUR sleep and gives you boosted scores when it knows enough about your sleep, you know after 4 years. I always score like 90+ in the later years of using it. This means that ALL of the data from years gone by is useless as the room for error in the new data has reduced. It is the most unscientific experiment ever. Afyer 4 years I can tell you the main benefits of this app are the wake up window and audio recording. The rest for me is a gimmick. It doesn’t work well in partner mode. It’s sleep scores are not accurate, I’ve often felt like I’ve had the sleep of my life and scored 60%. I believe a healthier sleeping pattern involves waking at the same time each morning, something this app discourages with its wake up window (this is optional tho), and also not incorporating a smartphone into your sleeping. Keep your phone away from your sleep area. Since I’ve stopped using the app and started waking at the same time each morning with a normal alarm, I feel much better. I enjoyed the app, but I do not believe it has any positive effects on your sleep and if anything encourages poor habits..Version: 6.21.3

World Data …..I’ve been using Sleep Cycle for a year or so and have noticed the data on steps etc. doesn’t change in either count or country which I find extremely strange. The sounds recorded which you can play back on your weekly report is hideous….. Some of the data is incorrect as I’ve seen awake for up to an hour or so before nodding off and the next morning it tells me I was asleep in 11 minutes…. The other thing is it doesn’t distinguish between you or your partner snoring or coughing..Version: 6.17.3

Almost greatI had the same sleep app for ages but then it wouldn’t update on my new phone so went searching for a new one. This is so much better than my old one in lots of ways. The gentle alarm and being able to snooze it by tapping my bedside unit is awesome. The journal is way more detailed and insightful than my last app too. I fall asleep with the tv on so I find if I don’t wear my watch it’s not so accurate at knowing when I fell asleep but that’s my fault that I can’t always wear it overnight because I need to charge it then, if I’m wearing it then it all becomes very accurate again. I like that this also updates the apple health app too. My main gripe against this is the paying for listening to noises? There are many free recorders and even my old app had free recording but to pay £25 just to hear snoring seems a bit excessive. You do get a lot of extra features for paying but I only wanted the noise recording that is pretty standard in most sleep trackers so will be looking for an alternative app in the future..Version: 6.9.2

Where have all the stats gone?I’ve been an avid and happy user for 7 years with 2,300 nights recorded to date. It’s my most used app and one I have recommended to many people. I have been happy ever since my first use but since the update a few weeks ago with the new design a lot of my data has disappeared. I seem to have lost my sleep quality by location, by my notes, the moon phase, air pressure and now just have very basic trend data. What is the point of adding sleep notes now if there is no trend analysis. I travel a lot with work and found the location analysis very usual. I am not sure if just my data is lost or if you have removed these features. Whatever the reason the output is now less interesting and I would love to have these key features back..Version: 6.0.3

UpgradeHi For premium member, add some new wake up sound plz! Also add the possibility to remove wakeup sound we do not like in the random wakeup sound mode plz! Thanks for considering!.Version: 6.16

Couldn’t really live without it tbhBeen using this app for years! I’ve had the free and paid service before and both are amazing. Can’t really afford the paid one now but I use this every night and love that it stores my sleep logs. Also I can’t stand the iPhone alarms!! the ones on this app are so much nicer to wake up to and allows you to gradually wake up. The alarms go off softly half an hour before you actually set the alarm and allows you to snooze by tapping your locked screen (sometimes don’t even have to tap it, I swear it just knows when I’m awake) … then when it comes to the time you actually need to wake up the app will make you unlock your phone to switch it off ✨.Version: 6.20.5

It’s so interestingI find the sleep tracker so interesting, it makes me want to go to sleep just to track my sleep. Seeing when I am awake and when I am in deep sleep is super weird but cool, sometimes I won’t know that I was awake but the tracker will tell me I was which is amazing..Version: 6.7

Really solidThe app is great, I’ve had it for years. I don’t have a ton of confidence in the accuracy of their claim for your sleep efficiency each night, but it’s probably not far off. What I love most is the snooze...it senses you tapping the phone to activate snooze! So you don’t have to grab your phone and try to find a brightly lit little button in a dark room when you don’t want to b opening your eyes—just physically tap the phone anywhere! In fact, I just tap my nightstand and that is enough to silence the alarm for the snooze! My one big complaint, however, is a change that was made a couple months ago. Now you have to unlock your phone to turn it off. It used to be that the screen would dark all night, but it wouldn’t be locked, so when the alarm goes off in the morning you just see the app with an off button. But now, the phone auto-locks, so in the morning when it’s time to turn off the alarm, all you see are all the notifications on the lock screen that came in all night. So you have to fight those to get to the unlock, where you can get to app to turn off alarm. Super annoying. It ruins an otherwise nice experience, and does so at the worst time: when you are waking up in the morning. (The developer said this due to a change in policy from Apple, and they’re working on a fix. Let’s hope one comes soon!).Version: 5.5.3

The best sleep tracker out thereI got the pro version. Not the ongoing subscription which there may be. And it is excellent. I paid for the full version literally because I loved it so much. I get so much value out of it, and am so glad to have made my purchase. Many updates, many features. The latest of which giving so many different sounds and music and GUIDES and POETRY to rest you to sleep. Honestly the work involved is impressive. It’s really great. At one point they realised there was an issue with the snore tracker. I was informed that they’d take it out until it was up to par, and sure enough, it’s back there, working great. Get this app..Version: 6.3.1

Life changingI used sleep cycle for 2 years every night a long time ago and it taught me so much about myself, my sleep habits and no matter how little sleep I got it would make sure I woke up ready for the day. I started using it again recently and it has only gotten better. It’s progressive alarm and sleep monitoring are amazing. Seeing my trends in what makes a good sleep for me and what I can change. 100% would recommend to anyone.Version: 6.16.2

Five-star app with one small shortcomingWhat can I say; it’s the best sleep tracking app in the App Store! Great set of features, very VERY accurate (audio tracking), good HealthKit integration, heart rate support, etc. A few minor bugs linger, mostly due to daylight savings time (UGH!), but not a big deal. One suggestion: why not allow heart rate optionally when falling asleep as well, rather than when just waking up? I know there are other dedicated apps for this, but seeing as the functionality is already built it, it seems like a natural extension of the sleep-wake “workflow”. One real complaint (and the reason I rated 4 rather than 5): the inconsistency in the subscription model. I don’t mind paying for continuous cloud service, because it is a continued investment to run. However, for us early adopters, charging full price for sync seems odd — we paid for the app when it came out, so if there’s no discount for sync, it’s as if we wasted the money buying the app, and have to pay the same yearly amount as those who got the app for free. Again, I don’t mind paying for a service, but I would prefer a discounted price. I know early adopters are only a small part of the user-base, but we do still exist! ;).Version: 5.4.5

App can’t adjust to time zonesGenerally this app is good, however I also use this as my alarm clock and it turns out the app cannot be trusted when you travel to other time zones. I have overslept because the app thinks I am in the old time zone and been late for my meetings as a result. On the return trip it has woken me up an hour earlier because it again struggles to adjust back to the change of time zones. Absolutely hopeless and it will take a long time to regain the trust in the app again. App developer responded saying that the phone needs to be restarted in full to avoid this issue. Now I know how to resolve the flaw, but pretty poor resolution and I am pretty certain that most users will not have read my review and will not be aware of this issue / resolution. I would have expected the app developer to say that they will resolve the bug rather than putting the responsibility on to the user....Version: 6.1

Interesting!I think apps need to go back to charging monthly. Everyone wants full payment upfront now. If you are exploring a few apps a month you could be spending $200 cash out your disposable income. Too much. This app is very clever. However I sleep with a husband and a Frenchie. So you should consider including pet snoring and movement. Also throat clearing. Cats meowing and movement. It was hard to know if all the movement and sounds were being factored into my sleep stats. So I have not renewed..Version: 6.24.3

If you’re on the fence about buying this app and need to read a review....Sleep Cycle. I can’t remeher when I bought it, it must have been years ago.. But it’s the first app that actually does what it says it’s going to do, and do it as seamlessly as a iOS app. Sleep cycle uses the accelerometer, microphone and now even Apple Watch to monitor your deep and light sleep cycles and wake you up at the perfect time as your body leaves deep sleep. Being woken up by an alarm in the middle of your deep sleep rhythm gives you that feeling of being hit in the face by a train, but this app elects you to chose a 30 min window to be woken up and start your day feeling refreshed and revitalised. In adddition to its numerous health data tracking and statistics, the app has never failed me and has woken me up for work perfectly after a few hours sleep and a really rough night out. If you’re sceptical I hope this review will turn you over, because it’s the money I’ve ever spent on an app!.Version: 5.5.2

RecommendedI recommend this if you are interested in your sleep. there are many features behind pay walls but the free version is still good I have 250 nights recorded. It has a good alarm system but being able to choose an alarm for free should be available.Version: 6.22.20

Overdue ReviewIt’s long overdue that I write a review for this app because I’ve been lucky enough to be grandfathered into Sleep Cycle’s pro version. I downloaded the app back when I was in high school when it was 99¢ and continue to use it almost every night (10 years later), mostly with the intention to utilize the alarm. I always had at least 2 or 3 different alarms that all failed to wake me up until I bought Sleep Cycle. I absolutely love that I have access through the app to different sleep sounds, like ASMR or story telling, because when I listen to things through my laptop instead, it reads me as being awake and talking. I’ve picked up on numerous hilarious sleep talking incidents with the ability to share the sound recordings with my friends and family, and I love being able to see which days of the week I need to work on getting myself to sleep more consistently and tracking the triggers that lead me to sleep better or worse. Most of all, though, I appreciate that the company has included me, as an initial investor, in the updates throughout time. Having had the opportunity to realize what the app does for me makes me think that the least I could do is write them a good review!.Version: 6.16.1

Sleep cycle for meIn all honesty, the sleep cycle app has motivated me to make several changes in my life that have been positive. By tracking my sleep I’ve been able to question reasons why the results shown by the app were as they were and in turn I’ve had to delve deeper into many other issues that were affecting my sleep. It is honestly worth far more than the yearly subscription asks, and if you choose not to pay you still get great use out of tracking your sleep.. I love this app and I love the person who introduced me to it. I’d highly recommend it :).Version: 6.14.5

Keeps syncing with my sister’s app...Okay so I loved this app, did everything it was supposed to do, until I came home to visit family for Christmas. My sister is jet lagged and so had her alarm set for 5am, mine was set for 7:30am. She is staying in the next room to me. My alarm went off at 4:45 in the morning on Christmas Day. After doing some digging in the app’s FAQs, apparently the apps of people who sleep in the same room automatically link together over wifi. Great for partners, not so great when your jet lagged sibling is next door. Why this happened when my sister is sleeping at least 20 feet away from me, in the next room, I don’t know, but I’m now a very grumpy person, wide awake at 5:15am, and as far as I can tell there’s no way of turning this automatic link feature off, and there was no warning that this feature was turned on when I set my alarm. Grumble grumble.Version: 5.5.5

It’s ok, more for entertainmentI like the program, wish it were more accurate. I sometimes suffer from insomnia and wanted to track how much sleep I was actually getting. This program doesn’t register that I’m waking up in the middle of the night. I’ve taken to taking with me if I get up and walk around, just to have it show up as awake for a minute. When I watch movies for an hour it thinks I’m asleep. I’m watching the movie on the same phone as the app - you’d think it’d realize something. Apparently according to this app I get a great nights sleep almost every night. It also thinks I must be doing great on minimal sleep since that’s what I get many weekdays. I wake up most mornings not feeling rested, and don’t sleep through the night, but this app isn’t going to help track that. Amusing, for that I’d give it 4 stars. I’d give it 5 if it actually tracked when I was awake , and tracked the weather correctly ( massive storm all night doesn’t even show up) and if the air pressure tracker worked. Yes wifi and cell signal on. They need a feature to plug in how many hours of sleep I need at night- I wasn’t born yesterday- and set my own goals for sleep, instead of deciding 6 hours is my ideal, which is unhealthy information to give someone who may not realize only few people need less hours. Tried a couple apps, this one still seems the best at tracking anything..Version: 6.9.2

Mostly GoodSo I’ve been using this app for a while now and so far it had been fine but I woke up one morning to see a night that practically said I was awake the whole night, except for the fact that I only remember waking up once, very vaguely. That night I had decided to put the fan on because it was a bit warm so I thought that might have affected the results. Apparently I was awake since like 2am which is absolutely ridiculous because somehow I was awake for 5 whole hours in bed, but I remember waking up at the time I had set the alarm but I did not hear the alarm. I will admit when I woke up I felt exhausted for some unknown reason but I had never got results like this beforehand. This was only one night, however, but I am beginning to question its accuracy when a fan is on..Version: 5.4.3

Not consistSome days it just record almost a flat line. Some Other days not sure if what’s recording are accurate or correct, even if I’m not in the bed still it appears to be recording as if I’m sleeping..Version: 6.9

Love it but...Excellent app, tracks sleep very well and provides very useful insights that help me improve my sleep. However, I often sleep past the alarm, skewing my average sleep time and quality metrics. This is especially problematic when I have a few bad sleeping days in a row where I go to sleep really late but plan on waking up early. Once awakened by the alarm, I stop it, and get back to sleep another additional 3-4 hours. Thus, the app will only catch half of my sleep. Because of this, out of 200+ nights, I have an average of 5 hours. A solution would be to allow users to modify how much they've slept if they wish to do so for any given day. Or add an additional option of "sleep more" on top of the usual snooze or stop alarm options..Version: 6.23.51

6 and a half years in and I can’t wake up without itYep, I’ve used this app for 6 and a half YEARS, every night, without fail. I recommend it to everyone I know. The way it wakes you up means I never wake up tired, and the insights into your sleep (especially after a long period of time) are really interesting! For someone who has never been a morning person, the gentle wake up cycle leaves me fresh and fully rested come wake up time. I’ve kept the same alarm tone for the whole time of using this app (I recommend) as now the sound is always associated with waking up. The graphs and charts that show sleep patterns are so cool to look at and being able to add your own markers before you go to sleep is really useful, and you can see on a percentage how it affects your sleep!.Version: 6.8.1

Sleep-changing app, many questionsThis has really helped me get up in the morning, which was a daily struggle until recently. I normally don’t write reviews but I must commend Sleep Cycle for its intelligent snooze component. However, many questions do arise, like how are the variable noises of partners, fans and other disruptive noise kept accountable? These are points that have kept me from subscribing to the $$$ expected for premium. In my opinion, it should be a once off purchase or lower price because I do question it’s accuracy. Nonetheless, an amazing app! All future homes need this built-in once refined!.Version: 5.4.4

Great Design but BuggyThis sleep cycle app is one of the best ways to track your sleep schedule; the graphics are clean, the stats are comprehensive, and the interface is very user-friendly. I accidentally signed up for Premium, but so far it seems to justify its cost. However, the bugginess of this app is intolerable. I would think it was something wrong with my phone, but none of my other apps give me this trouble. First of all, as soon as you start the timer the screen auto-locks, meaning if you want to play music you have to go back in again and load it up. Second, I have often encountered issues where if I choose to open my phone again while the app is running, it will freeze on the sleep cycle app and black out immediately every time I turn on the phone, giving no option to pause audio, exit the app, or even restart my phone. This doesn’t always happen, but it does so enough that the mounting frustration and panic often makes it more difficult to sleep. Such an incident happened today, which prompted this review. It would be a huge relief to see the developers fix this issue..Version: 6.8.1

This app is incredibleI am a morning person who does not like my sleep disturbed. I have always found alarms to be horrible and to make me grouchy. When I found this app I didn’t really believe it could find the best time to wake me, but it has....EVERY DAY!!! Everyday I am delightfully shocked when I hear the quiet alarm start to play, because it is the perfect time to wake up. I actually wake up smiling and thinking, “Yep, this is the right time to wake up”, and then start my day. The recent upgrade claims that you can use your speaker or play music through an external speaker. Unfortunately this is not true which is why I had to take away one star. I actually woke up late after following the apps suggestions and barely made it to work. The next day I set my regular alarm and super grouch was back when the alarm went off. I was actually mad that my alarm didn’t know the exact time to wake me as this app seemingly does. It would be a great addition to the apps greatness, to be able to listen to my music while I sleep; and wake up in the beautiful way this app wakes me up. Am I asking for too much? Because honestly, I will forgo the music to have this app in my life forever..Version: 5.6.5

Sleep Cycle reveiwIn my opinion this app is very helpful for me when I am trying to get good hours of sleep. The main alarm really helps me wake up and just a few months ago I could hardly get out of bed. This has gotten my sleep process so much healthier and I now have at least 9.5 hours of sleep a night with no trouble of getting to sleep. The premium is extremely affordable with the prices being £2.45 a month with an option to cancel the subscription at any time! Some people may not think it is needed but I think it is a cool feature and I am very interested in what I say in my sleep. If you are having a hard time getting to sleep, you can choose anything from sounds of the sea to bed time stories, personally I like to do some meditation to clear my mind before bed. This is definitely a great application and would recommend to people having a hard time sleeping! Thank you for reading and I hope this helped :).Version: 6.23.4

One of my most used apps!I absolutely love this app - I’ve been using it since almost the beginning. I find it really useful to track my sleep habits, stats, and trends over time, and compare it to other people around the world. It’s incredibly useful, and also really interesting! My one criticism/piece of feedback for the app is that I paid many years ago for the full premium version, and since then, the app has moved to a subscription model. I do really appreciate that as a paid user, I keep my original features I paid for forever. I think that was a grea move, very thoughtful and also fair to us as users who had paid at the start. But I gotta be honest, I’m not loving being prompted to upgrade to a subscription. I understand the team must be constantly working to upgrade things, but I wish there was another business model outside of subscriptions. There are just too many subscriptions in general now, and after paying for a full version once I’m just not really keen to pay a regular fee. I’ll certainly keep what I have, and if there’s an opportunity to “pay once, keep for life” again, I’d probably take it, because the new features look fantastic. But adding another subscription to the long list is a no for me..Version: 6.23.49

PerfI’m a very heavy sleeper, used to set 15+ alarms hoping I’d wake up to one of them (no kidding, no exaggeration). It took me a couple days to get used to this app because I couldn’t wake up to the alarm. But quickly it was the best thing; continuing to use it currently and it’s awesome to track my sleep and see the quality of sleep I’ve been getting. I love that it has sets of sounds or music of my choice to play for a certain amount of time to help me sleep, the alarm goes off for how long I want it to, the different kinds of tracking it does. LOVE the app, I highly recommend it..Version: 5.5.4
