✓ Very disappointed, not recommended at all!I truly feel is a ripoff too unless it syncs up with Google Maps, that would surprise me and if the compass could be set up as a screensaver or wallpaper for the background. ✓ 3 Stars, Here’s why:No “map only” function. Sometimes I just want to view the map without the compass blocking my view, and also have the altitude/coordinates track that marker live. Which brings me to problem 2, a huge one: you better be on location to mark a waypoint, otherwise this compass has no idea what the elevation is. Leaving you to completely guess how much of a climb something is. This isn’t a replacement for proper orienteering, but even on my day hikes I’d like to know if a certain planned route is doable on app, since it’s more than capable of accessing the elevation data. This is a glaring omission by the developer(s), who have otherwise done an excellent job. Leading to Point 3: elevation difference on target marker is a forgotten feature as well, apparently. Why I would only want to know straight line distance is beyond me. That’s practically useless on its own in the mountains. So I’m 700’ off target but have a 1000’ elevation difference (55°grade). ✓ Maybe I don’t get itThis app has a lot of great features and potential but I think you need to have a good idea of how this kind of tool works before you start. I did not. The manual is helpful in some cases and impenetrable or incomplete in others; functions are definitely not intuitive. The display can be much improved, especially for those of us who need reading glasses. The arrows are too similar - the “primary target” big arrow should be more easily distinguished, maybe a different colour. The “hints” are microscopic. Terminology is confusing: Why is there a “primary target” and a “location target” pointer that point in different directions? I don’t know what the system has decided is the “location target” but it isn’t the place I want to go next. The manual explains it but it doesn’t make it any clearer. Going through the “manage locations” menu for so many things like changing to the next location is tedious when I’m moving between 15 locations in a short time frame. Also, the name of the location that is currently being tracked should appear on the display. I will keep working with this but I will also look at other similar apps..Stevenz1Version: 3.9.9

✓ Does not seem accurateMy GPS in my 3GS is accurate. My compass is also accurate. But unlike the screen shots shown in this app's description, objects like the moon and sun do not appear as shown ... they are 20 to 40 degrees off. Waypoints that I create do not seem to account for altitude. I created one at work. When I went home (home is uphill from work) my work place was shown to be higher than my home. Disappointing. Wish they had a free version of Spyglass I could have tried before purchasing. Would have saved me a few bucks..AconiteVersion: 0

Then one day I launched the app and was met with “your Subscription Has Expired.” Basically saying, you paid the price we ask for our app, but now we want more money from you. How about NO! I will bought a hand held compass. Buy once and done. Just like the original agreement I had with this developer. ✓ Not useful for real reality...The app is inaccurate because the compass built into the iPhone 5 is inaccurate. One minute it shows the sun 15 degrees to the right of its actual position, the next minute it's 10 degrees too far to the left. Same thing with bearings and waypoints. This being tested far from magnetic interference. Also the battery lasted less than an hour on a full charge and the phone got very hot since all of the sensors were activated at once. This would not be useful for anything beyond taking the dog for a walk. I will stick to my real compass/map. They show more information, more accurately, and in a shorter period of time than any cell phone ever will. ✓ Quit your unsolicited ad prompting, dod gamnit!!!!!I am personally offended by intrusive advertisements! This would’ve been a five star app. Unfortunately, like way too many other venues, they seem to think that aggressive intrusive advertisements are the same as having someone stick their finger down your throat! Because I get really pizzed when I’m trying to look down on this app real quick at a stoplight and this full-page dam ad covers the face of the app until you shut it manually! And it doesn’t do it just once it is artificial stupidity as opposed to artificial intelligence! ✓ Good...Since the update, West has now become East. ------------------------------ ... but PLEASE update with an option to disable the sounds. Very annoying. ✓ Not holding saved locationI just downloaded this app for remote area use in a very vast forest hunting area, but first I decided to test this on my property because getting lost and not able to find your vehicle is a very scary feeling!!! I put up a post holding it up in the air with a concrete block, I add the current location as taught by the videos, I walked 200 yards away, the app showed the post that it was on the ground in front of me on the ground when the post was 200 yards behind me. At first I thought I did something wrong, I tried it again marking the post area from the ground or to the tip of the post in the air. Still same result, I tried a different target which was my personal vehicle, this time I saw the marker to my truck literally glitch slowly moving to the east. I thought this app would help me get to my vehicle i mean it said off road, wilderness, but I guess they DIDNT MEAN OFFLINE! I was shocked that this app wasn’t dont what I thought it would. ✓ Not intuitiveI've found it too unintuitive and complicated to be really useful. I've read the manual and that isn't much help - it just reinforces the confusion. I'm sure it's very clever but I wouldn't buy it unless you are already familiar with all the instruments. The Polar Star isn't that helpful in the Southern Hemisphere. ✓ Keep ClearVerry dissappointed, the concept is amazing but the compass aftera short duration stopped working altogether. Itried unloading and reloading the app and now just does not work at all. As for the map side of things, the app wont let me put the loacator over half the world. In a (box shape) it takes in a slight part of the eastern sea board of the US as far north as the southern tip of Greenland and south as cape horn tracking east to in line with the middle of the Indian ocean up to a central point in Russia. As for the Star/Sun tracking locator, this side of things just did not work at all. As i said, great concept but way too many glitches or what I should say...... That it just does not work! ✓ Bad orientationThis app doesn't show at all the right orientation of waypoints or stars or planets. It's at least 30 degrees off the right location. I regret buying this. ✓ Too Complex with Useless Arcane OptionsWhile I have had Spyglass for a number of years, it has never been a go to app. It is just too complex with numerous useless and cumbersome options. I have successfully used Spyglass as a clinometer in the past, but tonight it would not work. I could not get it to work with the camera tonight as it used to to get the elevation of a thunder cloud. ✓ InaccurateSomewhat inaccurate, I don't know if it's the iPad or the app. I will give you an idea that will make this app unique. Look at this app: Speed Tracker by AppAnnex. A unique feature they have is that you can put your iPad on the dashboard of your car and you see the correct speed reflected on the windshield. ✓ Oh dearie meTotally over the top app hardly any use to anyone in the normal world. Slow, inaccurate and too small display. Maps attached were useless. I currently run 4 other gps apps and they walk all over this. I'm still trying to find a use for it and would have deleted it if it hadn't cost me money.
