✓ Buildcalc is a lifesaverThe best construction calculator, by far. I've used all of them, and am very fussy. The closest competitor is the Construction Master Trig Plus Pro, but this one has the edge in several ways. The best is the tape tool that allows one to review their last ???? functions, and to retrieve lost numbers. I have the CM Pro on my phone too, but favor this one. Nice UI as well. ✓ Good app, good serviceI'm a single-fam residential drafter/designer. There are lots of conversion apps. Sure they are great and might even give you more choices for converting units. But none of them can calculate. At least I haven't seen one except this. After all it's a builder's calculator. The developers know exaclty what they're making and who it's for. For portability, I've used handheld build calcs and they cost more. At this price, not only it's cheaper but you don't have to carry any extra calculators around. On that note you don't even have to worry about bringing any other "buildcalc" anywhere. After using a couple handhelds, this is by far the easiest and best!!! Very fast and friendly. I have to admit. It's got plenty of functions that I probably won't be looking for or use for that matter. But it serves me great and if I have questions, the creator/developers are on top of it right away!.Version: 0
✓ Canadian Residential framerI have used a couple different builders calculators. Including the way to expensive scientific calc. But this app does everything plus much much more than a $100 scientific calc. I had a little issue with some freezing/ crashing when I first downloaded. But I actually think it was just my phone. I did email app support, and had immediate response!! Best service I’ve had for an app by far! This calculator is very user friendly. If u have trouble understanding something, just press and hold any of the buttons for help. It works. And it works very well. I have now used this app for a week on the job and can’t stop bragging to my buddies about how good it is! Love it! It may be a touch expensive.. but if ur looking for a daily tool. This is definitely it! Like I said at the beginning. It’s cheaper than a construction or scientific calculator. And much better. 👍👍.Version: 2.4.5

✓ Works well, but doesn’t always update drawingsDig the app and saves a lot of time. It did cost me $50 on a stringer I was cutting. Built exactly to the plans it generated, but they were off. Discovered it when i went to hang the first one. Went back to the main menu in the app then back to the stair calculator, and the drawing updated and added the 4 inches I was out to the drawing..Version: 2.11.14

✓ Better than construction masterI'm a professional timber framer and I've used a construction master pro trig model for years. This can do all if that and much more. It goes beyond being a calculator and performs like a piece of software. I still use the CM for simple feet and inch stuff and BuildCalc for anything serious..Version: 2.2.1

✓ A phenomenal app that gets better.I make my living as a carpenter and use this app all the time. It offers truly useful features that take it way beyond your typical Construction Master. Irregular hip and valley rafter layout is made simple, and the ability to print stair sections from frame to finish (with all relevant values attached) is incredible. ✓ Excellent App!Update- my original 5 star review has not changed with all the updates. BuildCalc is awesome and the developer keep on making it better. Well worth it... I wish I had BuildCalc when I was more active in the Architectural/Construction industry. Now it receives lighter duty but is worth it none the less. Having used it for a few weeks my only suggestion for improvement would be to allow an enhanced "store" function. The app saves info from your calculations. It would be even better if I could save results for a material take-off which could then be emailed ( it already will email some results :) ) or saved as a PDF accessible to other "office" apps. ✓ About time!I found a description of the app in a builder magazine and immediately searched for the program. After the download to my iPhone I scanned through the manual and was amazed at the time-saving solutions to many of my everyday layout chores. Being a second generation Home Builder and having labored through the repetitive layout calculation of stairs, rails, rafters, etc. I was amazed at how fast and easy this program made the normally redundant calculations. The only minor drawback I found was the documentation didn't give complete and thorough directions about some of it's features. I received an email back from one of the developers with an answer to one of my questions within a few hours of having sent it. I wish all apps had this kind of customer service..Version: 0

✓ 5 star app!!!I am a carpenter and I cut roofs, when there is need for a conventional roof. I have a construction master calculator and this app is just like the real thing. For those who need instruction, if you press a key and hold it a new screen will pop up and give you a brief explination. ✓ This is the one.I am a timber framer and our shop also does lots of other architectural projects out of heavy timber. This is the construction calculator you want. I use it on a daily basis and it has never failed me. I use it for simple to very complex and it saves untold amounts of time. It does hawkindale calculations and with the touch of a key explains them, including square tail fascias. My boss frequently asks me to verify his autocad drawings for entry errors. ✓ Great app and fantastic support@ whiteford1 - According to the developer I am also running an older IOS (3.1.3 in my case) and the last buidcalc update caused a crash in the app. I contacted the developer and he had a fix to me the SAME day. I cannot imagine better support considering I have not upgraded my iPhone (3G) in over a year. I've paid a lot more for software in the past with no developer support. ✓ OS updated now app won't openThis has been a great app! However, it won't work since my OS updated last weekend. Tried to contact app support but page cannot be found. Please update and fix! Needed to do roof calculations last week and it wouldn't work and I had no backup in the truck. Put me in a real pickle!! 5 stars if support was available and on the ball!! UPDATE!!!!! Found email adress for the developer and sent him an email with my phone # attatched. The guy called me back within 30 minutes!! He was at the store with his family on Sunday no less. Went straight to work on the problem and had me straightened back out in 45 minutes. All I can say is WOW! Changed to 5 star! Would give him 6 out of 5 for customet service alone!! ✓ How great is thisI'm a pro carpenter, have been for many years, I have the C.MIV and the C.M Pro. This is all that and more, for twenty dollars! You don't get upgrades on those other calculators and if you lose it's gone, $80. This is great that it follows the user and not the hardware. ✓ Stair stringersGreat app for figuring stair stringers App saves my pre-cut set dimensions like 11 ¼ treads, preferred risers height, tread and riser thickness etc which saves a lot of time. ✓ Great ToolMy Construction Master IV is dying a slow painful death. I was faced with spending another 80 odd dollars to replace it. Then I found BuildCalc. It made sense to by "software" for the hardware I already owned and carried about, my iPod Touch. It took very little time to get used to it and as it comes with out a manual. This calculator app exceeds the Construction Master IV and I have to remember only one cary one item. This is a great tool, and every Architect & Builder should have it. The Construction Master IV served me well over the years and I will miss touching the spread keyboard but this app will soon make it all a distant memory..Version: 0
