✓ Good when it worksSometimes this app identifies song info correctly... other times, I will attempt to identify the same song 5 times with it giving me a different match every time. At the moment I’m having an issue with when the Shazam app opens, it will immediately freeze the music playing from my other app (SoundCloud), which happens to be the track I’m trying to identify..Version: 13.13
✓ Lost all my tagsI did not want to associate an account with Shazam, Shazam automatically updated and lost all my tags.. thanks.Version: 11.6.2
✓ Soundhound is so much betterI do not understand why they wanted to destroy this app. It’s slow, it’s database blows and 60% of the time it doesn’t find what you’re looking for. Music isn’t only about what’s going on today, people. And even then, it doesn’t have the newest releases unless it’s major releases! All the alt and obscure stuff isn’t there, even in today’s music. And then Soundhound will find it. Maybe if Shazam didn’t spend all those years on TELEVISION NONSENSE, they would have a better app. But they did. And it’s not great. Used to be great. ✓ Not syncing to Apple music automaticallyFrustrating at is dosnt sink automatically with Apple music. I bought the premium app hoping this problem would be fixed but it's not. I keep disconnecting and connecting Apple music in settings to refresh it only to get 2-3 songs updated. Shame because I've used Shazam for years and it holds all my favourite music..Version: 11.10.1
✓ Latest Shazam update is horrible (v11.9.1)With the latest update of Shazam you cannot remove Shazam’ed songs. Your list sync’s with their servers and retains everything you Shazam’d, even if you used the ‘remove from my Shazam’ function, the songs come back. Also, when looking up artists it no long tells you how many people have Shazam’d that artist. But worse, you cannot just click ‘follow’ (or ‘unfollow’) an artist from that tab - you have to go to My Shazams and unfollow one at a time. At least the song recognition feature remains intact. I Shazam many less popular songs (e.g. those broadcast by KCRW) and it gets 99% of them..Version: 11.9.1
✓ LOVE THIS APP...now I’m not so sureI've been using Shazam since it was first released and it is STILL my go to app for any smart phone device. This app WAS my go to and I supported several artists by being able to find them and purchase their music. Now Shazam has started “The Hit List” which blocks you from discovering certain artists. All I’ll say is...shame on you. If this is going to be the new common occurrence...I’ll be removing the app..Version: 11.4.1
✓ Annoyingly slow startupBeen using Shazam since iOS4 on a 3GS but it’s annoyingly slow to open now on a 6 running iOS 11. If I’m trying to catch a snippet or sample it’s usually over by time the app is ready to listen. I’ve downloaded SoundHound which is hugely quicker and I’ll trial before buying their paid-for app. A shame as I’d already paid for Shazam Encore years ago, will most likely be deleting it now..Version: 11.4.3
✓ Why’d you remove the map of top tens all over the world???Why why why did yo guys remove the map feature???? Now the top songs are broken down into USA and “the world”. The map feature allowed the user to press on any country and get their top ten, it was amazing. This new categorization is horrible and so limiting. If I want to see what the number one song is in Nigeria versus Argentina I can no longer do that, greatly limiting my exposure to music beyond my normal reach. ✓ Ruined the best app in historyShazam to me was the greatest app in the history of apps, my absolute favorite. This past update ruined it, as now only the date appears and not the time of day of the discovery. Without the time of day, we cannot tell where we made the discovery which to me and my electronic music industry is crucial. Please bring it back! Thank you..Version: 12.0

✓ Good for popular music - wanting for songs that were not so bigLike Funkmasters from the 80’s and it doesn’t find ket sleeping dogs lie etc. very poor on something’s - being popular to make money rather than offer a full service / and is very bad in finding soul music from the 70’s; 80’s and in fact to date. ✓ Used to be snappy and awesomeNow it spends so much time loading and doing background things before it’s actually functional that by the time it’s actually ready to Shazam something the thing you were going to Shazam is finished. Shame..Version: 11.13.0
✓ Terrible layoutTerrible layout. Since apple acquired it has not improved but on the contrary. I dislike that now when Shazam recognizes several tunes and later when I want to listen to a specific song down the list it will play the first tune instead of the one I chose to listen. Then I have to school down the list till I find the song I had initially wanted to listen to, and if I don’t know the name of the artist or song good luck finding the song..Version: 12.6.1

✓ Sound bugWhen playing music in Apple Music and switching to Shazam to check what songs to download on Apple Music, the sound cuts and distorts and stuffs up the music. ✓ So much clutter I slashed my wrist.All this needs to be is An app that loads quickly and identifies the song playing. Whilst it can do this, the song is often over by the time it has finished loading all the news and feeds and garbage that comes with it. That said, it is still outstanding at identifying anything in the iTunes catalog, even with serious levels of background noise noise. ✓ It was perfect, until the updated startedI've had this problem with just a few apps...that I didn't just delete, or with whos developers I am still fighting to have them stop billing me; you get the app (and in this case, pay $4.99), it works great, and you really enjoy using it, or in the case of a navigational app, you depend on it. Then, the update notices start. And it sounds all good to you, so update. Right now this app has been in some state of suspended, useless limbo. The message states that "even though you have paid for this app," it cannot be updated unless you connect to your computer, open iTunes or whatever, Blah, Blah, Blah. I am no where near my Mac. Is this developed for a Mac computer, or for an iPhone? I must have been mistaken, because I thought it was the latter. Screw your poorly designed improvements, and give me back the original app. Too many app developers are travelling this road. It's highley problematic. Only a cell phone company could screw up a Mac product, and really, Mac, get a tighter reign on this kind of thing. ✓ Fair to Good applicationReally the only worthwhile application for identifying music and/or songs from different sources. Now, that being said, there has been a deterioration in the accuracy and/or ability to even identify music and/or songs for about the past two to three years. I am not sure what it is, or if it’s platform specific, but has been increasingly more difficult to identify pieces of music/song with this app., say within the year or two. However, since it is the only viable app available for this purpose. I just really wish it was more reliable ☹️🙄..Version: 13.28

✓ ShazamWhen I first got Shazam it was great! Then you did some upgrades and changes which were not so good; however several months later you did additional upgrades which again made the app great! However recently the app keeps blanking out on me will not retain my Shazam history and I am very frustrated by this as I am trying to retain my history in order to purchase music. I have at times Shazam music and found a new artist that I like and then purchased several songs by those artists later even introducing those artist to other people. The retained history is now too difficult to access! You need to repair the problems with Shazam or you will start losing customers me to start with! You are making too many efforts to try to get me to upgrade purchases to the product it is something that I, as well as many others, do not enjoy having foisted on us, so please stop keeping us from using our product simply in an effort to attempt to get us to purchase upgrades. Back in the day that was called a bait and switch and in most states is it legal! Make what we purchased user friendly and we will NOT be searching for other apps to ID and purchase new and old music!.Version: 13.2

✓ Good app - overdue for an overhaulWould be great if I could use long tap as a way to create an album in Shazam and then allow me to add to specific Apple Music playlists. Now that Apple owns Shazam, surely they would make it much more functional. I have a bunch of minidiscs that I’m Shazam’n and want to make individual album collections for each disc. Sometimes it takes Shazam half way through the song for auto Shazam to pickup a common song, other times Shazam doesn’t even detect the song (popular songs!) and other times it detects a song which isn’t even being played nor do I have in my collection and I haven’t been anywhere outside my home for a day or near any other music. At the moment if I want to auto Shazam, it bunch’s all my tracks under the date of when I auto Shazam’d. Which is all very well and good for specific purposes, though if you want to use it for other purposes like me, it makes ones job much more tedious and time consuming selecting individual tracks and going through the different options to add the selections to Apple playlist. Would be much more functional to allow adding a grouped album that was created in Shazam. When the app first came out I was amazed. I bought a life subscription and then Shazam screwed me over when I got a new device and didn’t let me know I would lose my one time purchase, there was literally no functionality to switch to premium and ended up needing to buy the new app too and lost the old red Shazam that supported AIDS..Version: 12.8
✓ Ok for modern recorded music otherwise USELESSIf you want to know what cd is playing this should tell you however non modern music (pre 90s) or live music forget it TOTALLY USELESS there is No reason in 2020 why software can’t detect the notes and therefore the music! Also no option to help by telling it what the music its hearing is therefore no way to improve. On a plus it sometimes throws a curveball by incorrectly identifying another unrelated music so possibly opens new music to listen to..Version: 13.24
✓ Humming and concerts are it's weaknessThis is obviously a great doing detection service. There are just two shortcomings... 1) It cannot detect songs by humming the way that SoundHound can. That's a huge problem when you have a song in your head but don't know many of the words. If SoundHound can identify the song from just humming it, then why can't Shazam? 2) It struggles identifying songs when you are at a live concert, whereas SoundHound seems to always figure the song out. Again, a huge weakness compared to their competitor. Shazam has other advantages such as camera scanning, but the humming and concert features would be far more useful. Hopefully now that Apple owns Shazam, they have the resources available to fix these two shortcomings in doing detection..Version: 11.6.2
✓ Watch app very unstableSometimes the watch app works, sometimes it says it has saved your Shazam and will let you know when you get online (even if you are online at the time). When it does the latter, you’ll need to uninstall and reinstall. This is an issue they really ought to have fixed by now, at the very least it has been a problem for months. ✓ Once brilliant, now a slow bloated messShazam's saving grace is that it is still very good at identifying songs. At least the phone app is - the watch app no longer identifies anything, but just sits there saying it's listening - but it now starts up very slowly, even on an iPhone X, and the once-decent interface is now a hard-to-use mess. ✓ Missing autoYou guys got rid of the auto button. I NEEDED that to tag the songs I listened to while driving! Update: I figured out the new auto button like a minute after I wrote this review, so I'm changing it to 3 stars. I'm still having an issue with push notifications. That hasn't been working in over a year! I've seen multiple FAQs about that and they all say to change it in settings. However, whenever I try to find the toggle in settings (both in the app and on my phones settings) the option isn't there. I literally have nothing that can turn on and off the push notifications! You will get 5 stars when you give me that option back!.Version: 11.4.0
