RockHound for Negative User Reviews
✓ Poor excuse for an appThis app lacks all the things others have said about it but I want to add different problems. When looking at individual minerals, the list of minerals blocks the description, at least 4 lines of info. They want others to add to their meager work and they want to release updates, profiting from our efforts. I guess they had better have people cite their sources as there is such a thing called plagiarism....I think I will learn how to make apps to get something of value..Version: 1.9
✓ A good idea with poor performanceThe mechanics of the app are well done, but the information is poorly filled out, the sites are pathetic and more information could be had online for free from other websites. Not really useful with the information inside..Version: 1.8
✓ Limited databaseConcept is great but literally these are from google search. Most are paid digging sites. Not many listed in California :(.Version: 1.8
✓ Very bad app.Not worth $1.99..Version: 2.1
✓ Lacks informationTruly a poor example of a rock encyclopedia. This app could be improved easily by adding diagnostic characteristics of each of the minerals (hardness, streak, cleavage, luster). Instead, a select few minerals are listed, with a paragraph description. If you are looking for something to study from, this is NOT your app..Version: 1.9
✓ Useless appAbsolutely useless. No info other than directions. No space for others input, and the info available is decades old. There haven't been agates at Agate beach for 20 years. Save your time and money, I wish I had..Version: 2.1
✓ RockhoundDon't wast your money!! I was so disappointed..Version: 1.8
✓ No New England LoveAbsolutely zero sites in all of New England (Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine). That is disappointing. The photos probably come from the public domain, but the developers should do some better searching for higher res photos. Also, much more mineral specimens and information would be nice. The photos don't look sharp at all on the iPad..Version: 1.8
✓ RockhoundUseless. Ok if you already know rocks and their names, but don't expect this site to help in identifying rocks..Version: 1.9
✓ Missing critical info and abilitySince this app is been around for so long, I thought there would be a lot more sites. It also does not take advantage of GPS to be able to add in your current location as a potential site. Could be a fantastic app, if they took the time to actually add in an offsite to make the purchase worth it. You can't search by what you want to find, so there is no way to really make use of the sites that are there..Version: 2.0
✓ Worst app everI should have read more reviews...this app is definitely not worth the $1.99 I shelled out for it. There are only 2 pictures per mineral/specimen and it is missing some pretty common ones, where is garnet? Not only that, but it looks like the app has been out for quite a few years (more than 5) and there is such scant to no information about sites in the Midwest and other various parts of the country that the location feature (which is what supposedly makes the app worth $1.99) is virtually useless. So, sitting at the park today with my son, excited to identify his gems and minerals he panned for at a cave site in Missouri, was a bust. There weren't enough pictures to compare our actual stones to for a positive identification and there were no sites in Missouri listed to lend any clue or helping hand. I already deleted this waste of space and want my money back!!.Version: 2.1
✓ Like app but...Most of the included picture are low resolution and are burry! The rest of the app I like but I give it only three stars as visual identification in the field is key and the pictures are not real good..Version: 1.8
✓ DissatisfiedThis app provides such a minuscule amount of rockhounding sites for each locality it is not worth downloading..Version: 2.0
✓ Needs improvement1. Would be nice to see the locations linked to mapping app 2. Rock hound sites in the current library very focused on the Western and Eastern US....limited info for rest of country.Version: 1.9
✓ This is alrightIt's a good beginning for introduction to rocks and semi precious gems. I wish it had a version that was specific to the iPad (fitting the screen size without distortion) Also it would be nice to have a reference to the metaphysical properties and mythology aspect of rocks and gems. Great job to those that started this! I'll be adding to it :-).Version: 1.7
✓ PmUnable to insert GPS coordinates which reduces usefulness to me for adding new sites. Limited rock library..Version: 0
