✓ Truly the bestWhat I'm about to tell you is as accurate and truthful as I can be. I have the top 1000 music apps and close to 3000 apps overall. This app is without a doubt the best app I have and have ever used. The sound quality and overall genius is outstanding. Great job people. I've used this app for years and will continue. ✓ Fantastic Music CreationThis is my favourite app so far. I have bought all the music creation apps and this one is far superior than the rest. It works well with Beatmaker and I just imported some audio in Abelton. Next week I will try it with Ardour on my linux machine. The price infact is too low for what you are getting. Thank you very much people for making this app! Keep up the good work and I hope we will see some nice version for the IPad coming out. I’ve heard you can do auto scales of incoming notes as well, but I don’t like auto scales so don’t know anything about that. ✓ AmazingSuperb app. There are a couple of reviews moaning about how it doesn't improve your playing, or is hard to use, but they are talking nonsense. If you want a tutoring app then no, this is not for you, but if you want a well written app for jamming with some great sounds then £4 is bargain. I've been a gigging/studio musician for 25 years and I love playing around with this app, and I can see lots of potential for getting some studio use out of it. ✓ Great fun app - even novices can sound good !I can only assume the few people who gave this a poor review are professional musicians - If you are a guitar virtuoso already this app is going to be as much use to you as a chocolate teapot ! however if you musical mastership is limited to knowing about 5 chords ( ie me !! ) then this is an amazing app for throwing ideas together and just jamming around with .... erm ........ your thumb - the clue is in the app title I guess ! Firstly well done to the makers of this app. The iPhone feels like a live instrument just by tilting forward or back it makes the notes bend. Then too add another dimension, when you move fingers left or right the sound moves as your fingers move on touch screen of iPhone. Best heard with head phones or wide speakers. ✓ Must Buy, especially for composing with multiple appsThe best thing I have found about this app, apart from the great quality sampled instruments, is the background audio feature. Thumbjam is the only app I have which consistently plays background audio. This is huge for composing in multiple apps. For example, if you create a pattern in korg ims20 and want to be able to hear that pattern whilst composing another layer for the track in sunrizer synth, you simply copy the pattern from korg and paste into thumbjam, minimize thumbjam and it will keep playing when you go to sunrizer. This works with many different apps. A tip, if you do this make sure you start all the apps first and then switch between them with multitasking..Version: 1.3.2

✓ Great app worth every pennyI am a bass player in a covers band and to be honest, I was getting stuck on getting the bass lines funky. I down loaded this app expecting just to mess around with it, but due to the ammount of different scales this app has, I found myself copying what I was doing on this app, into real time bass playing! The fellas in my band were pretty amazed! I even used this app at a gig, just for a laugh... ✓ You will not beleive your ears!This is the first time I have bothered to review an AP because most are fune for an hour or two but then put in the bin. I was very tempted to jealously guard the secret of this ap because I can see it becoming a major part of my sound however something’s just need shouting about. This AP is simply the best designed best sounding and most inspiration Iphone AP I have ever experienced and I have not grinned so much in a long time (even impressed my girlfriend!). It was possible to Jam along with my own recording with my eyes closed and play with expression, the possibilities are endless. ✓ Incomparable, the best.Well, as everyone else is stating, it really is the best. The interface is very nice, the looper is very intuitive, it's features are robust.. However, what really matters? The sound. And quite frankly, I feel like I've stolen this app. Because these samples are absolutely unparalleled on the iOS market. It's the essential acoustics emulator app - further broadened by the ability to not only control the parameters of each sample (release, attack, slide length, humanize), but it's effects aswell! Which includes a very warm reverb, useful delay, and practical filter. Within minutes I made a loop, consisting of a trumpet, 2 violins, a mandolin, a plucked bass, and a cello. Within 2 minutes I made a really authentic sounding loop. That in itself displays its work flow. Also; The most scales I've ever seen included in a musical app. Buy it. The answer was not in the user guide and I got no response when trying to register for the thumb jam forum (noticed no new posts since early 2020). ✓ Amazing!The more I use ThumbJam the more I like it. For starters the sounds are very good - I especially enjoy the hang drum, harp, violin, mellotron, flute... tanpura! So many good sounds. It muti timbral so you can drive it with a sequencer like it was a stand alone synth - or even loop separate parts within the app itself. But the best thing about the app in many ways is the control surface. It actually feels like a real instrument. Kudos to sonosaurus! On screen keyboards and drum pads always fail a bit on touch screens because there's no velocity sensitivity - but many sounds on ThumbJam have x axis to control velocity - but then you can go further and shake the iPad/iPhone for vibrato. I have never been able to pick up a flute or violin before but this app allows u to create beautiful music! I use my thumb jam to create improvised music, and u can also record what your playing to listen back as a loop. U'll be amazed at what you can do with this app, theres probably 50 different instruments and like 100 different scales to add to the sounds coming from each instrument. Some of the asian scales mixed with the violin create some breathtaking oriental sounding melodies. Since ThumbJam supports importing scala files you can have all sorts of microtonal scales in addition to the wide range of scales already available in the app. The developer is one of the best at continuing to update and support his apps. It might not be for those who only play air guitar but if you know basic music terminology you should have no problem with the app. The recordings are clear and everything on it was done very well. Recording music using the instruments is hard though since creating chords on the instruments takes some work due to the small touch screen on my phone so I can see why most recommend it for the iPad instead. ✓ This is the one to get!I have downloaded numerous apps like this, however this one is by far the best. Maybe not the cheapest but by no means the most costly. All the samples sound realistic and the interface is intuitive. I still have a lot to try with this app but after one day I have achieved much more than with any other. Now I can really get on with producing high quality music wherever I am. Do what I did and read the reviews then take the chance. You won't regret this choice. ✓ There's always a but.I'll get the negative out of the way first. Layout! Garage Band has two screens, one consists of a track view that shows you all the instruments/ vocals / mix downs that are in your current track. It's displayed quit nicely actually and is easy to navigate around and tweak. The second screen it provides is one that comes up when you are in an instrument mode for any of the tracks from the first screen. Here is where you can play and record your instrument of choice. With Thumb Jam however, it's just sloppily pasted over your screen where your instruments notes are shown. It's quite messy and just gets in the way IMO . ✓ Excellent!I have this on both iPad and a 1st-Gen iPhone. On the Ipad I have to say its absolutely TOP CLASS. Great concept, layout, design and sound samples. Even better as there are great set of additional samples that can be downloaded with no additional cost. My only complaint is that I lost several hours of my life after having downloaded it .. totally addictive!! :-). On the iPhone all the above applies (the versions are almost the same) however I have to report that many of the sounds and downloaded loops run in slow-mode (like a slow running film track) and do not sound like the intended instrument at all. I have cleared a lot of old apps out to create space (TJ is a large app), re-booted etc but still no joy! .... I assume my issues are down to the oldest iphone hardware (?) . Despite the iPhone issues, I still happily give 5*'s ---update for those 1st gen iphone users out there--- I have discovered that TJ only works correctly on apple iphone headset with mic. Any other headsets I have tried including amps etc result in the aforementioned strange sounds. Very weird but I have tested several times and it seems to be the case for me! ✓ One of the most fun apps on my phoneI am amazed at the versatility of this app. I don’t use it all the time, but occasionally if I need a specific sound played in unusual ways, this is my go to app. The only drawback I can think of would be to have a piano roll and a better way to handle loops. This makes a perfect looping app, having so many sounds, but the loop interface is very simple. That said, one can use it with all kind of looping apps as an add on. This is perfect if you need real sampled instruments for your productions. I've been producing using all kinds of software and hardware over the years wanting to be able to play realistic sounding string instruments and this has hit the nail on the head. Ok the sounds arnt as top quality as the VSL orchestra library, but it still sounds good enough for my electronic productions. ..Maybe in the future there is a possibility of teaming up with renouned sample teams for more in depth multisampled instruments? Managed to get it in the recent sale, and all I can say is WOW ! Excellent samples, fully customisable sound, and so easy to jam with.... even the extra downloadable sounds are free. Plug this into an amp and you have a studio quality multi-instrument. I particularly like the Steel Guitar, but all the sounds are winners. ✓ So far so great!I downloaded this yesterday, and so far this app is awesome. There are quite a few free loops and additional instruments to download. Sound is quite good for most instruments (although there are a few that sound digital) and it really is easy to setup a loop and jam. The X axis pitch bend addition has the unexpected bonus of making my own uploaded percussive samples-especially shakers and drum brushes sound much more human and makes them more realistically playable sliding ones finger side to side changing pitch accents . ThumbJam allows me to lay down a drum track then add ThumbJam tracks on top, creating unending possibilities for a lone musician with no real melodic skills. ✓ I would give this 10 stars if I could.I love this app. I don't know much about music and many of the other apps I've downloaded we're just too difficult to use. With thumb jam, I can just noodle around and make pretty music. I've recorded some of my flutes as instruments and I can now play duets with myself. :-) Hint: choose a nice scale like C major or Blues Pentatonic Minor and all the notes sound good together. I wish some things were slightly easier like exporting and stuff like that, but otherwise I just have a lot of fun with this app..Version: 2.6.2
