✓ Problem solvedI changed my Apple password some time ago and then forgot the original one which I had used when I first bought Hipstamatic . This meant I couldn’t buy any new Paks for my great Hipstamatic collection. I backed up my Hipstamatic pictures, deleted the app and then bought it again foolishly hoping I would be able easily able to reload my Pak collection. Of course , the original problem remained. However, help was at hand and I am very indebted to Allan at Hipstamatic who reinstated my original Paks and my list of Favourites. I can now add new Paks and continue to enjoy this terrific app..Version: 344
✓ Love the app but...I absolutely love this app. I got my first iPhone in 2008 and this was the first app I purchased. From that minute I was hooked. This is the only app I don’t mind spending money on. In ten years, through updates and changes, the one thing I wish you’d update is the ability to purchase a featured film/lense combo and be able to push a button and have it automatically set in the camera. Currently I have to remember the name of the film and lense get out of that area go change the lense then go back and change the film all to just TRY it out a few times since it’s new. I took pictures (and still have pictures) not unlike the ones this app provides. I love the choice of film and lenses as this was choice I did not have as a young enthusiast. ✓ Absolutely fantastic.I've never cared enough to write an app review before, and may not ever again, but I just had to say that this app is hands-down the best iPhone photography app I've ever used. Hipstamatic, as dramatic as it sounds, has rekindled my love for creative photography. The effects are perfect, the photos are far better than you would expect given the camera lens the iPhone gives you to work with, and the add-on packs, despite the extra cost, are worth the money and only serve to prove there are no limits to where this app could head in the future. Tellingly, like others, Hisptamatic has actually replaced the Camera app on my home screen, and I don't think I'll be moving it from there any time soon..Version: 0

✓ Great Product, Great Customer Service!This is a terrific app for taking a good photo and making it something really special. It's a delight for those of us who enjoy tweaking images, bringing out subtlety or really mangling something. Sure, you can do a lot to give an image a certain retro look, but the amount of control makes Hipstamatic something much more than that. Often, I find myself adding just a splash of field depth or making fine curve adjustments. Of course, all the lenses, films, and so on make for great inspiration as well. As for the customer service, I recently had an issue with a purchase and they responded immediately. They straightened everything right out quickly and kindly. Thanks!.Version: 358
✓ Crash and burnI purchased Hipstamatic approximately one week ago and it worked flawlessly until this morning. I have really wrung this app out and found nothing wrong with it until, wait for it, until I updated my iOS. I updated to IOS 11.4.1 this morning and it has crashed regularly since then. I can only surmise that it is not the apps fault or the developers fault but it simply does not perform well under the latest iOS update. Hopefully, the developers will soon release an update incorporating changes that fix the problems with the latest iOS. ✓ Still Here!In a world of horrendous Apple photo processing, turning any non-white skin tones into Barbie-plastic since the iPhone 7, and apps galore which say they’re shooting “raw*”, Hipstamatic still allows for beautiful images in spite of Apple’s over-processed, disgusting take on the world. I really don’t know how they do it, when other developers appear to only be taking Apple’s repulsively-processed images, converting them to DNG with all of Apple’s erroneous, “Do they even employ an amateur photographer?” conversions baked in, and calling it a “raw” photo. *Technically, yes. In reality, not at all. In that environment, somehow Hipstamatic seems to capture an actual raw photo, complete with colour noise if you remove all lenses and film processing. (When you don’t see colour noise in a higher-ISO “raw” shot from a phone sensor, that’s a clue that you’re not seeing a raw photo.) And using some of the less dramatic lenses and film types, I am able to capture shots on my iPhone reminiscent of the beautiful images captured by the iPhone 4, Apple’s last truly high-quality (AKA not bizarrely over-processed) smartphone camera. Amazing how some companies insist they’re correct, in spite of obvious, objective data otherwise. Really shows how certain over-processed political candidates with orange Barbie-skin-tones gain such traction. If a company insists on not following reality, how much more does that (and their marketing) influence the world around them? It’s almost comical to draw such correlations, but such is the world we live in. Here’s to Hipstamatic, fascinatingly enabling non-distorted, beautiful images in a distorted world!.Version: 368

✓ Worth Buying An iPhone For This App Alone......and I mean that. There’s nothing else like it in the App Store, and nothing else that gives you the flexibility and creativity to make your photos your personal art. The option to either shoot with your choice of lens/film/flash combo, or edit afterwards is great, depending on the situation - PLUS, it’s an educational experience learning about each film/lens/flash function and history. ✓ Crashes with the IOS 11 UpdateHipstamatic has been one of my favorite apps for years. I use it regularly and have purchased pretty much every Pak that’s come out. I just updated my iPhone 5s and iPad Pro to IOS 11 and since I updated, Hipstamatic has become unusable on my iPad. Constant crashing when trying to open a photo from the albums, so can’t edit. Works fine on the iPhone. I do all my photo work on my iPad though because of the larger screen, so having it not work is disappointing and frustrating. ✓ Hipstamatic makes everything look hip...This app inspires me to take shots during random moments, photos that end up suiting a hip fashion magazine or an album cover for a band / solo artist. What an awesome app. And who cares about the in-app purchases, a total of AU$6.06 for the whole lot, whatever. I've spent more on a crappy kebab. This app is the gift that keeps on giving. Swapping film and lenses to make different kinds of images to suit your mood or situation is really fun. The downside is the apps speed on 3G iphone—like the one I have and I suspect at the time of writing is true for most iphone users—and some annoying random crashes. Also, while the Hipstamatic—and Hipstapack "upgrades" include what might be interesting flash effects for the iPhone 4, 3G users don't have a built in flash to take advantage of this feature. ✓ Better than expectedI got this even tho I'd read some negative reviews about not having more included lenses and stuff. I can say that I'm not disappointed at all! The included stuff gives you so many different possibilities when you mix and match the three included lenses with the three included films, not mention the flashes, that there is hardly anything to complain about! ✓ My favorite of all appsI’ve been using Hipstamatic for years. I also have Tintype and Hipstamatic X. But my first love is Hipstamatic. The fact that I can apply favorite lens/film/flash/etc. combinations to existing photos is fantastic, though I more often let Hipstamatic surprise me with preset combos. One of the best things about this app is their purchasing model. No subscriptions, no $50 price tag to get all the bells and whistles. You like a hipstapack, you buy it, you don’t like one, you pass on it. Wish more apps would copy this model. I and many of my friends have passed on many subscription apps because the cost just adds up too much too fast when app updates aren’t even guaranteed. People may argue, and I would have too, that it might be better to use a "real" camera and photoshop... well sure... except the Pentax DSLR I own is often left at home because it weighs almost about as much as half a house brick. and the best camera you have is the one that's with you. It’s helped me take original and amazing photos from all around the world (literally). It never gets old, you have limitless possibilities by combining film, lenses, and “flashes”. ✓ Perennial Favorite, needs patchingI have been using Hipstamatic for years, and it’s my favorite go-to camera for many reasons. I prefer it over the default Apple camera app and even the newer Histamatic X (although I’m using that more these days too...) The most recent version has stopped working with RAW files for some reason. It still works if I shoot in JPG mode, and HX works with the new Apple RAW, so I know it’s something in this app. Hopefully we’ll see this fixed soon. I don’t use the print shop much, but it’s a great feature and the print quality is excellent. I do wish the devs would provide better support for more social platforms, or at least a better hand-off for sharing. It used to cover the big players, but those built in share features starting failing bit by bit. They even had their own social platform, Oggl, but that just quietly floundered with ever-increasing dead zones until they finally just abandoned it. I thought Oggl was great, but I guess the devs decided they didn’t want to compete with IG - which is a shame because the ecosystem needs alternatives. It’s not too late to hop on board, it’s still a good app. I hope it still works if I upgrade to the newest Pro Max..Version: 364

Its pretty clear in the description that you are only purchasing the base model, and can buy extra "hipstapacks" so no need to reduce the rating for that fact like others have. ✓ Zoom values per lens on a triple lensWhich are the nodal points or knees on a triple, vs a dual lens iPhone ?! this is not clear to me .. using it still 68 days into it, and the bug that has always been there is even worse on a triple lens system. moving the value analog shows the value, but when you let go it wants to jump to 2.0 all the time. 1.7, 1.8, 1.9 .. is so hard for me to get it to stay there to use. I give up after so many failed attempts and use another setting. 1.0 was one lens. and 2.0 was the other. but on a triple .. what is what ?! that numbering now is .. what? 1.4 is not 1.4 anymore. 1.6 is not 1.6. what values are interpolation and what are each unique lens values. to chose. I still don’t know. I am so frustrated. but somehow that is a compliment. at how good it is. and I cannot tell. ✓ Fantastic update brings Hipstamatic back up to "must have" status.I deleted Hipstamatic a year or so ago - couldn’t get comfortable having to decide on filter settings BEFORE taking the shot. I re-installed after seeing that the app had received a major overhaul, and I am totally blown away by the new design. Not only can you apply lens/film/flash effects later, but the editing options are fantastic too. Integration with Apple Photos/iCloud is seamless, with the ability to have all edits be non-destructive. ✓ Terrific Customer Service!I’ve been using and enjoying creating imagery with Hipstamatic since 2010, when I first discovered the app while leading a photo tour in Morocco. What originally drew me to the app was the look and feel it had like a separate and unique camera, and the unpredictability and fun of pairing the many different lenses and films. So I was very disappointed when I started experiencing continued crashing over the past months. I first contacted Hipstamatic Support in early August and received an immediate reply from Allan. He asked a lot of questions and then, had me do a few tests, and also had me send him some diagnostic information, which he then passed on with a log I sent him, to Hipstamatic developer, Ryan, for investigation. We communicated regularly over the next month, with Allan keeping me up to date on the progress they were making with the crashing issue. In late September, Allan wrote that they had an update to Hipstamatic that was in beta testing and told me that as soon as that new version was fully tested, it would be sent to Apple for approval. He said they hoped to have the update out soon. And now, with the update to Hipstamatic Version 352, it appears that this problem is solved! Thank you, Allan, and the rest of the Hipstamatic team, for your hard work on my behalf..and for the many, many photographers who have been creating with this wonderful app for so long. ✓ Makes taking photos fun againBeing a professional photographer, I laugh at people who take photos with their phones. But after having a friend tell me how fun this program was and that the iphone can take really cool photos, I decided to proove him wrong. I installed the app, all the time sniggering arrogantly assuming how bad this app would be...... Well, it backfired. I love this app, After the first shot, I was hooked! It gives me a bit of a giggle taking fun snaps of places and locations and the mixture of lenses/films/flashes just keeps begging you to try that same shot with a different setup over and over again. For sure the camera on the iphone is rubbish, but using this app just makes them look so cool and interesting. Sure you could easily replicate this in photoshop, but having it so instant is just so much more of a blast. The only negatives I can say is the viewfinder, although authentic is a bit small, and the proecssing time for each image is a bit slow, especially on the larger size setting. Well, almost as I do have some beef with the lack of control we have over the position of the subjects of our shots. The Hipstamatic automatically applies the 3/4 rule to evey shot, but sometimes they do not go the quadrant that we want them to go to. If we have more control over the positioning I'd give this app a full 5 stars. I know that we can go fully manual on the viewfinder, but the pics don't turn out as good. ✓ When it's good, it's fantasticThis app of late is like the girl, who when she was good, she was very, very good, but when she was bad, she was horrid. The app's features are fantastic, which is why I've given it a high score, but the latest version is unfortunately quite unstable in my experience. (v330, on iPhone 6, iOS 10.2 – although my phone is over 2 years old, which may be a contributing factor). It crashes quite a lot on startup, and prior to that, when I was saving edited photos. I've found I need a lot of free hard disk space (at least 15GB, preferably more), and after deleting the app, doing a hard reset, reinstalling, doing another hard reset, THEN restoring all my gear, I have finally got it working again (so far). The equipment, effects and editing capability are so much more sophisticated than most other similar apps that I have persevered with Hipstamatic in spite of the problems. ✓ Fantastic!!Great and fun app. It does take time to develop when in high quality mode, but that just enhances the whole experiane IMO. Obviously its not going to be your camera for taking those all important graduation shots, it is afterall still an iphone camera. View finder could be larger, but I suppose that also makes you more aware of what you photographing. ✓ Great EffectsThis app is awesome. I love the effects you can get out of it. It would have got a full 5 stars if it had a few extra features: 1. Load photos from library and process them. I know this is supposed to be a camera app, but it really is the effects I'm after. I like to play around with my photos and try different things. I don't have time to stand there and take 10 shots with different settings. 2. Save the original, and allow reprocessing. This is kinda the same as number 1. But if I take a shot, let me save the original in my library too so that I can play with it later. Or reprocess it with the different effects. 3. Full screen viewfinder. This is an awesome app. It does cost a pretty penny to buy all the filters, however I do like all the filters and I do feel there is value there. Firstly I had to pay $2.49 to get a pack with just one new lens in it as I had all the other stuff. I don't care too much but some other stuff woulda been nice too. I logged outa my account which fixed it but then spent the next hour plus trying to log back in as I couldn't remember my password and kept getting errors from the reset password page. ✓ Love it....but.I love the photos this app produces and I'm happy that I bought it. Although since the last update it has been having a few issues. The app often freezes on startup leaving me unable to take a photo, or it will shut down after taking a photo leaving me with no photo at all. It will also sometimes freeze when I am viewing the photos I have taken. Sometimes redrafting the app solves the problem, but mostly I have to reboot the phone. This app truly Is awesome and worth the money, it just needs a few bug fixes. ETA: I still love this application. I use it every day and I love the various effects. I do have a couple of issues with it though. I would love the ability to exclude certain lenses or films from the 'randomise' feature. I don't much like using the Dali lens and wondering if it is going to show up in my random choices is annoying. The film that came in that update is fantastic though. Also. They are all different enough to justify spending money on them. As other apps you can barely tell the difference between 2 filters. I love love love that o can know edit existing photos in my library & choose the crop format It will take a little while for me to dig in & get reacquainted with this app but I think that I'm going to be spending a lot of time with it. Don't be scared of change. Some apps change for the sake of change, but hipstamatic waited until the time was right. Just a suggestion (so far) I have most of the films and lenses etc, but I'd like a buy remaining button that had a cost for everything else.Version: 301
✓ I’ve been using this app since...Before the Dali pak was first available and I love it. I enjoy the insane amount of options they have added. But most of all, I love their support. Allen is the best(cheers,;)). He has helped me with many any issue. I still wish they would bring back the original disposable version. That was my absolute favorite app ever. Allen helped console me through my abandonment issues. You’ll know it’s him, because of the “cheers”. For some reason that instantly “cheers” me up. He definitely keeps me here. ✓ Where are my pics???I have not used my Hipstamatic app in a few weeks. I normally use it frequently throughout a week and refer to my “Shot with Hipstamatic” album often. Today I opened the app and all the photos in that album are gone! I had backed up most of them so that’s not a problem. But I use that album heavily and had many pics in there that I was using. I just LOVE having them there for convenience & referring to for favorite gear combos. Where did my album go??? I’ve not changed anything & can’t figure out what happened. Please help!! ✓ Love it!!This is the best little app ever. It's totally changed the way i go about my day - now i look at everything wondering 'worth a photo?' The starter pack is great value and will get you on your way, but you'll want to buy the additional lenses and film packs not long after (which are super cheap $1.60 or something). Offers heaps of really interesting and retro effects which make for really magical photos. You be amazed how different you can make a moment with a photo. ✓ Please do not abandon the classicWith the new Hipstamatic app as social media I fear the classic will be history. No update in 10 months and a lot of focus on the new app. I like the new system but certain aspects are only accessible to members. That is totally understandable and helps keep it a smaller but sweet space. As someone who has invested in 133 gears - and a previous subscriber to Oggl- which I loved — most of my gear does not carry on over to the new app. I cannot edit / crop - which is ok as it forces me to shot straight from the camera- that’s a good thing. Most importantly- there is the multiple exposure feature that is a major draw for me to Hipstamatic. It probably will not be sustainable to tend to 2 apps. Such will leave some of us — with less then our investment in the app over time. While I have only been a hipsta since 2012- I consider myself semi-OG as it was my first app installed after having used it on a window device prior during 2011. Please don’t become an elitist app- even if it does maintain a certain quality in keeping it limited…..Version: 367
✓ Best app, great helpThis is the best photography app out there. I use it everyday for work and I'm always complimented on the quality of the pics. Beats lugging my big SLR around everyday. I've printed off and enlarged images and the quality remains. I love this app! Recently had an issue when I purchased a new phone and tried to instal the upgrade for the app. Like a lot of people who have commented below, all I could see was black through the view finder. I contacted the app support team via email and within 24 hrs they had emailed me a personalised response and the problem was fixed easily.
