Where are the new asteroids, I seem to see them when I zoom right out (and they're laid out in 3D from the side, not just a flat disc), but they fade away again when I zoom in. But I love it! PS I can confirm that the year 3999+ bug is real (at least as of one update ago); planetary orbits are chaotic in the long term, so whatever the planets do by then, in the app, I doubt it would be right - but I'm guessing straight lines and zig-zags are wrong! ;) PPS Any chance at all of no-glasses (crossed eyes or stare thru) 3D? I know it's a bit niche, and would result in a small viewport, but it would still be super-awesome! PPPS I really rather liked the super-small on-screen text (the 'iPhone 4 display bug') in the previous version, I'd select it if I could - more space to see the beautiful planets!.Version: 1.9.3

✓ The perfect astronomy app with an incredible updateThis app is great for budding astronomers and anyone who likes visuals. It is great just to zoom around the Solar System (and part of the galaxy) and to see the great visuals and 3d models of some irregular moons. There are many great features such as tracking these objects through time and viewing in 3d (with regular red/blue 3d glasses). I love the educational movie section and now it has more very informative and interesting videos. And now you can view on 3d TVs. To top things off, my favourite feature is viewing 3d models of the satellites orbiting the earth and now you can view information about them all (this feature was lacking before). All they can do is continue to add more objects (more moons, more satellites and the asteroid belt would be cool; not to mention the Kuiper Belt and Oort cloud). Their star walk is also great for star gazing but this is the more visually stunning of the two apps..Version: 1.8

All of this and amazing quality with captivating images of stars ( it was nice to see what they looked like), planets, satellites ( natural and artificial). What would make it even more amazing is if you added the dwarf and minor planets, black holes, comets, meteors, asteroids, meteorites, and the Oort Cloud, let's not forget the Kuiper belt. Don't be fooled buy the relatively cheap price - this is a top class app. For people who want more stars etc to be detailed, well I think they're missing the point - the app is clearly named as an app about our solar system! I have one small request to the author - please could you put language settings directly into the app? My daughter attends Japanese primary school so it would be great to be able to show her the planets in the same language as she is learning them, without resetting my whole iPad to Japanese. ✓ Should now get 6 stars!!When I first reviewed this app in January 2011 I felt it only merited 3 stars, however the latest update has elevated it to a new level. The present update is how this app always should have been. In my opinion it bears very little resemblance to the original. This app is now absolutely fantastic and a joy to navigate through. It is way more informative and the graphics and images are up there with the best apps of this genre. The images are very detailed and truly HD. The informative educational movies and ability to save image shots and share are great additions. I cannot fault it in the slightest and have no hesitation in recommending it to those who have very little knowledge of Astronomy. The planets and their moons are rendered with reasonably up to date photos from space probes, with the exception of Pluto (a minor planet as of 2006) which as others have mentioned bears a striking resemblance to Ganemede rather than the slightly reddish appearance in recent Hubble pictures. I haven't checked the accuracy of the positions of the objects but I expect it will be spot on if star walk is anything to go from. The info is informative and accurate. For 5 stars from me, I would like to see more minor planet info if Pluto is being included- Eris, Ceres, the more recently discovered KBOs, asteroids, etc. Other than that, great effort..Version: 0

✓ Great App, Related to Star WalkI think the AI with exploring planets and specific stars are very valuable too. In my history, I use to snuggle w. my mom and those videos of the Phases of The Moon, Tidal Phenomena, and Cassini, are what I amazingly enjoy about the app. But the only glitch I would say from those video would be “Size Comparison”, it’s just showing Venus, Earth, Neptune and Uranus and that’s it. No moving video, no other planets. But I’m not complaining on the app because, I loved your apps for years. ✓ Suggestions-please updateI know a lot of stars some of them I don't know and there is one that I haven't seen on this and it's name is U I scuti you can rea-search it on google. (information: U I scuti is the largest star in the galaxy. It's going to explode soon in the years that people call the future and please add black holes) and then there is a planet called Proxima B and also please add it to the map.( information : the planet has 3 suns its main one is a red dwarf star. The other 2 are regular stars. When all the sun's light is put together its still is not bright enough to be brighter then the sun. The planet is all ways facing the red dwarf star and if you want to die then you can this is your dream place you will die from not enough sleep. Updates and trajectories on satellites that have and are exploring the solar system would be epic (such as the satellite that was recently launched to mars). Add some more of that along with a glossary so we can all understand and learn some of the scientific terms used and I'll change my rating to 5 stars! What I see naked eyes in the sky: Jupiter’s & Saturn’s path crosses the galactic plane near its center SA* , observation that brings me & us to major development in astronomical comprehension of the celestial movement (cmo: observers). What I see through the SWapp: the galaxy, as a fond, a decor, back landscape is not there: whether it has been slewed on the wrong side of the solar system, or too fade. When I enlarge (or retract, as going higher focus or focal), still the error is apparent. Indeed, this summer passage of the ecliptic in front of galaxy center indicates solar orbital plane of the planets is perpendicular to galactic plane. Please get this app, please view it in 3D (the specs are very inexpensive) please allow yourself a good hour to immerse yourself and please listen to the seriously chilled music whilst doing so. You have done really well, but I would have liked to see the following - Support for AppleTV; the 3D support is nice to have, however, how many of us do have one. - expansion to the universe; I wanted to venture out from our galaxy to the other galaxies (even if not possible to enter). Just being able to see our galaxy among the other 100s of billions of galaxies. - Would be great to have a little movie on each planet with its characteristics to complement the textual content. ✓ A bit space consumingThis app is amazing, I've always loved looking at the sky and now I can get even more information from this app. But there is one annoying thing. The too much memory is taken up on my only 8GB iPod touch (although I'm planning on getting a 32GB iPod touch 5th gen) so I think that the app could have a Internet based option where you choose it to be Internet based and when you quit the app it deletes all the data and then reloads it upon opening the app, so that it only takes up the memory for the reloading. Aside from that this app is amazing and I would recommend this to anyone with a fascination with space.Version: 2.0
✓ Vito strikes gold againIt's a beautifully designed app, with some really cool features. I love the ability to fly between planets, the time shift feature, and, most of all, the quality of the planets. I rate it 4 stars for 3 reasons. Firstly, the app feels like it has only a fraction of the ideas Vito can come up with- if star walk is anything to go by, this app will get better and better with time. The second third-of-a-star lost is the fact that orbit ellipses are drawn as polygons, and when zoomed in, you can see straight lines. It's a minor point, I know, but it just stands out from the beautiful design in the rest of the app. Smoother orbits, please! The last point; when moving at speeds of around a month per second, the animation flickers for some reason every few years, and the solar system seems to jump wildly. The solar "warp" one experiences zooming from one planet (or star!) to another with a single tap is exhilarating. The information it provides is only hindered by a few small details that are either incorrect or have not been included but again, this is a very small issue. It would have been a whimsical desire for the app to take you on an automated tour of the solar system with the options to view details along the way able to be turned on or off as you please and to set the speed of the traveler and have the choice to make the journey a once around event or a continuous one but whimsical or not it would be a lie to say that it wouldn't be appreciated in a future update. ✓ Visually impressiveThis is a very impressive application. Being able to fly around the solar system and look at the planets and get the essential details of each of the bodies in our solar system makes it a great resource for kids and people with a passing interest in astronomy. The level of detail in the information is fairly limited but seems to contain the essential details (mass, orbit, rotation, composition, etc). I couldn't work out how to rotate a planet so that features on the night side became visible although I assume it can be done. One problem was that when viewing the text about the composition of a body, the graphic showing the various layers down to the core was concealed under the text panel - a fairly obvious problem that should have been picked up and fixed before release. ✓ My favourite App on the whole store.I've just purchased a new iPad (the New iPad) and have busily been searching through the store for the ultimate apps for it. If I was writing a list today, Solar Walk would be at the very top of it. It was awesome before, but the new update really does take it to another level. This app is packed with factual content, but the interface is so good, that it never becomes bogged down. Thanks to the amazing graphics and atmospheric music, just gliding by planets and picking out moons, satellites and now even asteroids is extremely enjoyable..Version: 2.0

I look forward to the continued expansion and updates of this sensational app. However, I work for a school that recommends apps for purchase. At $3 per app per unit of work this would work out to be about $200 worth of purchases per student just for the useful educational apps alone... ✓ Great learning tool!My four year-old boy and I lie in bed and read solar system books and although he *loves* space, most of what we're reading is lost on him. But when we read the books and use Solar Walk to better understand concepts like rotation, orbit and axis', my boy's ability to understand and retain these concepts dramatically increases. ... ✓ WowI’m 52 and have been passionate about astronomy and cosmology all my life. To move from only being able to read books and catch the odd television programme to having this kind of immersive information is fantastic. The background music is just right, the way you can move around is instinctive, and the detail is rich and enticing rather than overwhelming, the images are awesome.
