Updates***FIXED!*** All issues below are fixed within the app! Thank you!!! Can no longer switch between trees while in the app. Can no longer switch between your DNA and other DNA you manage while in the app. The Ancestry DNA app was removed and incorporated into this Ancestry app, but now missing key features. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app to see if there’s a solution - it DOES let you select a tree when you reinstall, however, you’re then stuck with that one tree unless you remove the app again and reinstall because there’s no way to switch within the app anymore. Perhaps room in the app was needed for Storymaker, I don’t know, but when you’re working on multiple things at once and trying to match up families, the app is no longer an option. Hopefully these things can be fixed at some point because it was great before..Version: 15.9

Most supportive research.I've been using this app for quite some time. After reaching a difficult time trying to trace my maternal grandmother's line, it was your researchers who identified a possible lead which provided the break-through. There had been an error in the transcript. Since correcting the surname there have been other sources revealed and it has opened access to previous generations. I have made a few mistakes but recently started to do a tidy-up to correct relationships. It hasn't always been clear whether I should be confirming new information or mistakenly duplicating information..Version: 10.35

Great, However..Would have given 5 stars but for some reason it doesn’t show via inbox when a DNA match sends a message, it only shows if or after I message them! Other than the messaging glitch another spot for improvement would be the filtering system, especially when searching for UK records, it automatically shows American records as the results - especially when filtering to show born in Ireland, i don't want to look at only American records if a family member was born in Ireland! I’d quite like to see born in Ireland and look at Irish/English records, please sort this out it is highly annoying and impedes research, it also does this with Welsh records! Other than these issues, enjoying the app..Version: 10.42

Love it, but problemsLove it! I’ve noticed that adding records from the app can overwrite relationships that were clearly marked biological/step/adopted, etc. Have to be very careful not to mess that up. Very easily attributes children to the wrong marriage, too..Version: 15.21

Not bad.Has a hard time loading sometimes, good app but still better to use website. Option to open up more than one tab on app would be nice..Version: 10.36.2

Merci! Très sincèrement vôtre Myckaël Fournier.Version: 13.5

Surprisingly easy to useVery easy to use and handles moving around family tree really well..Version: 9.21

Blends well with Windows & OSX versions but with some restrictionsAlthough it works in a Works in a different way from the standard desktop version it has an even more rapid interaction. It is inevitably designed for a smaller screen than a desktop or laptop but this is rarely a restriction. Using Family Tree Maker is possible and this separate product is usually fit for purpose but it is necessary to take care when uploading or downloading between these products. It is too easy to suddenly increase the number of individual people through duplicates if the software cannot recognise such should be merged. However in general this standalone app is easy to use and offers a superb ‘on the move’ facility that dovetails with the desktop version. I haven’t found an easy way to access the Gallery facility on the IOS version and this can be a problem but overall the app is highly usable and to be welcomed..Version: 10.42

Great resourceI joined to research my husband’s family tree for his birthday and got back to the 1500s. I was inspired to work on my own and managed to prove a family ‘myth’ (we are descended from Rob Roy MacGregor). It’s easy to use and offers many hints for most people on the tree. Occasionally ‘new’ family members can be added through a hint when they are already present on the tree. However, these can be merged easily. I also use the website, although looking at the tree on the web can be tricky but you can check out other members’ trees which only appear on the website. All changes made on the web are also made on the app. I would recommend the app if you are researching your family tree..Version: 10.34

Great appA great app. So fascinating to research my family history. Well laid out and very helpful. Expensive but worth it. Could be improved by allowing you to directly copy information from other trees. E.g. if I discover that a great great great grandmother had 15 siblings it would be great to just copy those in from another tree rather than manually add them each time..Version: 10.37

Thousands of cousins I would never have metI come from a very large family, I have 50 first cousins on my maternal side and only six on my paternal. Ancestry has helped me develop contacts with both sides around the globe. It has given me a new interest in where I came from and where I might go. We are in contact through messaging and share family folklore, compare traits, talents and failings. We all have heroes and villains in our past, this is like reading the best adventure snd detective story ever written..Version: 14.21

Great tool to explore voluminous quantity of recordsJust remember how much effort has been put in by many thousands of volunteers dedicating themselves, conscientiously to transcribing centuries old information so that armchair researchers can pull together their ancestral roots. ‘Ancestry’ has been my everyday chum for several years. As family historians our skill is in confirming what you see in a transcription by tracking down and proving it by seeing the original documents. In that way you can hold your head high when you roll out your tree to family and friends..Version: 9.21

AncestoryHi I enjoy using the app on my iPad. Most things are easy to do and it is great to be able to work on things without sitting in front of a PC Not perfect but pretty good a few tweaks and it could be great.Version: 9.12.1

SpousesA couple is not always husband and wife; please update to indicate wife of wife when spouse is listed as female..Version: 13.24.1

Not Ready for Prime TimeUnlike Reunion, this app requires a constant internet connection to display a tree. Nothing really resides on the iPhone other than a link to your online Ancestry tree. So, from a practical point showing your tree to family members around a dinner table, or while researching in a library, or many other places where a signal isn't always available - that soaks up battery time also - is extremely limited. With Reunion my tree fully resides on the iPhone - period. The fact that this Ancestry app is "free" to paying members is great - the fact that it's crippled and mostly useless speaks to the price value as well as what Ancestry thinks of its customers. Suggestion - charge a couple of bucks and have the full GEDCOM load on the iPhone and present in a Family Tree Maker format. Even if it isn't as fully featured, you'll make a return on invest in both money and added customer good will. But it's useless as it runs now. One star is a gift..Version: 10.38

Perfect HistoryFamily history is easily traced from the many records given to choose, sometimes confusing when several records are given with different dates and spouses or siblings. It takes time to sift through real facts and delete those not needed..Version: 11.2

Finding my family of the past and presentI have managed to find many lines of family since I joined Ancestry. Yes you have to learn your way about, but I just took one step at a time. Asking questions with some of the groups on Facebook. One of the most useful tools on Ancestry is looking at other members trees that include someone from my tree. By contacting these members with the message part of the site, there is much information to be had. Even finding family photographs that I had never seen. I have contacted a few 2nd cousins who I now talk to on the phone gaining some amazing family stories and character references. I have been paying £20 per month, which for me is quite a bit, but I got so much good information that I would not have gained from just buying certificates (which are just as important). I am able to cancel the subscription and start it up at a later date which helps with my budget. Great job Ancestry 5 Stars 👌.Version: 11.10

Great app! It’s easy to use. You can read up about the history of each region you have a connection with which is really detailed and it explains so much. You can also fill in your own family tree and see how far you can go back as you learn more about the past. Totally recommend it!.Version: 9.16

Grateful for the Ancestry appI love the Ancestry app. I joined the app to help track my ancestors during conversations with my mom and other family members and it makes the task easy. Since my family immigrated to the USA, we lost contact with many family members. With DNA testing becoming more popular in the last five years, Ancestry has allowed me to connect to even more family members. My 88 year old mother has a very sharp memory and has enjoyed renewing with the reconnections and meeting their descendants. As I made new connections, my mom has also helped with providing family stories for our tree. Because of all the benefits I have experienced with the Ancestry app, I am a huge fan and sing it praises to everyone! Thank you so much Ancestry for making learning about my ancestors so easy!.Version: 14.7

Great research siteGreat research site. I’ve used it for over twenty years however you should note: even though you have paid for years and most family trees on the site around my family lines have used most of my research to advance their trees Ancestry stop you viewing all the records you found, added and used to establish my tree of over 24,000 persons are no longer available unless I continue to pay. So be warned: unless you continue to pay you can’t access your files and research. Check it out..Version: 14.18

AncestryA great app and worthy of 5 stars. The only problem I have with the app is I keep getting the message ‘server unavailable'. With the help of family and the Ancestry app, I have been able to trace family members back to around 1800. Because of the way I use the app it is not worth me signing up, so I use it when I need to. When you could buy individual details, this was very handy. This service now appears to have been removed. NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO PAY A FULL SUBSCRIPTION!.Version: 15.8.1

Seeing the forest around your tree.Once you start collecting family details and linking them all together with the use of DNA your tree will start to resemble a forest. Ancestry makes to process so easy..Version: 9.12.2

One of the best appsThis app stretches the utility of a mobile phone. Who would have thought it possible, a few years ago, to carry around a vast database of family information, pictures and documents and so easily add to them edit and research them further? The annual subscription to Ancestry’s amazing genealogical treasure trove is good value for money. I am sure it will get better and better with time: it already has over the years I’ve been using it..Version: 13.23

My Fathers greatest wish came true, then he diedMy Father’s one and only wish was to one day know someone from his Mothers side of the family. She died when he was five. We spent many years traveling the state of Texas looking for anyone that know anything about his Mother. He sent his DNA to Ancestry and we waited... and waited.. and waited, until one day, there was a match, Mercedes. I saw that her Grandfathers name was Alfredo Alviar Chavez and flipped out!!! I sent her a message through the Ancestry app. and explained who I was and that we have been looking for years and years for anyone related to My fathers Mother’s side of the family. I gave her my email address and hoped she would answer. She quickly responded by sending an email to me and we were immediately connected. She was blown away that we knew so many details about her Grandfather. It did t take us long to get together. They came to visit on Labor Day weekend 2019. We had 3 glorious days to talk and laugh and cry. My Father was the happiest Man in the world. Then on September 19, my Father passed away. His name was Guadalupe Ibarra. He died a happy man. God kept his word and brought to pass the one and only piece of the puzzle left. Thank you Ancestry for making it possible. Without you, he would never have met his beautiful cousins, children of his uncle Alfredo, my Fathers Mother, Francisca’s little brother. What a wonderful world!!! Thank you, Dina Joy Lawrence Proud daughter of Guadalupe Ibarra.Version: 11.9

This is a mustI just got mine done, it’s so interesting and already have been contacted by a relative! You learn a lot about yourself..Version: 15.10.3

All too convenientGenealogy can be an addictive pastime. If that’s the case for you then this app will be your friend when you can’t get onto your computer. I have used it as an easy way to look at hints. I prefer to deal with complicated situations on the web site where there’s the full picture of the situation available..Version: 15.6

AncestryKeeping you connected to your ancestors in an easy format. It is costly to maintain your subscription but I have decided to just keep paying as it’s a wonderful service. I have used other family tree gathering apps and truly this is by far superior. I would like more printable formats to share info with family that are not on the app. Go family hunting !!!.Version: 10.33

Found Tons of information& Even my birth FatherIt’s the best gift, I received in my life. For my 62 Birthday my son purchased me a kit. While I waited for my results, I began creating my tree. The app was easier to use than it looks and it took no time at all to master navigating my tree. Then the results arrived and wow it was unbelievable. I never knew my birth/biological father so it was interesting seeing possible relatives. But I didn’t have the nerve to contact them, so I stuck to my mom’s tree & adopted father, then tackled my husbands side exploring leaves. Then one day I had a message in my mailbox and it a matter of minutes I had my first contact with a Second Cousin .... that contact confirmed we’re relatives and although my birth father is deceased, I have Aunts, Uncles, sisters & brothers and of course tons of cousin to reach out to! Perhaps I’m one of the lucky few that find relatives, for that I’m thankful for AncestryDNA. It’s a great app and became a new hobby for a recently retired grandma. With the help of AncestryDNA we may have just figured out my next “Heritage” vacation spot..Version: 9.19

Family TreesI have been researching my family for 25 years and I find it invaluable being able to look back into all my ancestors in my family tree, and occasionally adding another member. It has been a great help in my research as it gives me help from others researching the same families. I have almost got as far as I can go but I still go back into Ancestry if I try to solve questions, which sometimes crop up..Version: 15.13.1

AMAZING!I have quite a lot of information already in The Ancestry Family Tree site since I began tracing my family History some years back. I have taken a bit of a break from it, but now I have an iPad and I thought I would see what the ANCESTRY APP was like when I found out there was one. It is amazing - I have just downloaded the APP - and there is all my family stuff entered over the years all there - how wonderful, and of course I now have loads more to add. This is great! In just a few moments I have been able to add images of electoral roles which came up as suggestions on various members on my tree. I quickly purchased a month's subscription. No hard slog looking for things - they were right there and being an iPad it is so easy to enlarge up the image before adding it to the tree. I can see me becoming a bit obsessed with family history again! Update: it continues to be very useful and lots of improvements. Now if you visit a relative and maybe they have old historic photos you can photograph with your smartphone & upload to the person in the tree. Love having my family tree with me all the time in my phone App..Version: 15.7.1

Finding My RootsI remember watching Alex Haley’s mini-series back in the mid 70’s on television, the country was captivated on how this author brought together a true story of his ancestors. He spent years doing research and traveling abroad to Africa to find any documents he could find on his heritage. Today Ancestry offers us a modern-day tool that eliminates all the footwork and research that Alex Haley had to struggle through. Ancestry allows their members to submit some demographic information and they in turn, ‘run with it.’ Ancestry brings the documents to you and allows you to connect with others who share in your DNA. I have met cousins online who I never would have known if not for this amazing web-site. One cousin sent me a photo of my father’s parents, to whom I had never known, nor what they looked like. This is a fascinating application that you must try. It’s a legacy to leave for generations to come..Version: 15.12.1

Finding Ancestry helpfulVery easy and intuitive.Version: 8.7.1

Just upgradedI’ve been using the app for years and this is the first time I’ve disliked an upgrade so much. I am having trouble navigating DNA matches and moving between different kits I manage. I can’t find how to filter searches effectively like I used to. For some reason each kit shows up twice It annoys me that US yearbook clutter my discoveries page even though my research is not us based. At least put it at the bottom so I don’t have to scroll past. I only upgraded today so I haven’t even had a chance to try and work on the tree at all..Version: 13.0

Very helpful appVery useful to use when out and about, especially when catching up with family..Version: 8.9

Great BUT ....Love the convenience of having my genealogy portable and always in my phone for quick updates and to share with relatives. BUT .... Would love to read messages via the App, would love to know if unanswered messages are due to people not logging in or blocking - needs a “read” notification. Would be great if hints filter out documents you already have. Sometimes Ive saved the same thing multiple times. Access is very expensive and notifications about good deals for renewal have to be chased by phoning..Version: 9.2

Great AppFind this much better than logging on through an iPad or computer you get quick information anytime. Cheers.Version: 10.44

Love it. Use it all the timeCan be a little slow with a large tree, but really enjoy it..Version: 9.4.1

OkAlways wanted try this app was impressed but again while doing my family tree hints kept sayin my cousins were living in America which is wrong. But they we’re correct on my great grandmother asked my parents if this was right they were surprised as so there information is accurate but to many hints are wrong specially like my late grandfather his middle name is Henry and they keep saying it’s a different name please try to fix this other then it’s pretty legit.Version: 10.28

Excellent for beginners.Of all the family tree sites this is by far the easiest to navigate . Simple to use..once you establish some basic family dates of birth etc it’s easy to build a family tree . Care is needed to check hints don’t assume a hint is a fact you need to be sure before accepting one.. so you do need to do some thinking and checking dates etc before you accept hints. It’s still easy to use..if your not sure you can select Maybe and come back to that hint later once you have more information . You can also see other trees and connect with others working on trees. DNA , this is the biggest data base so more links . This app is easy to use on a iPad…but I do find some work I need the web site for it. Especially which looking for other “family trees “option ..Version: 14.8

During lock downDuring lockdown this ap has saved my sanity as I have spent it doing my family tree and I have found out a lot of things I didn’t knowi did too don’t know what I would have done with my self if not for family tree as I have had a stroke and I am in a nursing home.Version: 15.5

So many featuresI have returned to Ancestry after a break of a few years and am delighted with the features and appearance of the family tree. The list of search features are enormous. The software is easy to use and the hints to connect me to threads of my family keep on coming. I have been in touch with other Ancestry users who have help me find new branches on my family tree. Great way to spend (especially) a rainy day searching through information. Just be careful to check and check again before accepting new family members onto your tree. There is hardly any name that is unique in the historical records and red herrings are plentiful..Version: 9.19

A bit harder to navigate than the websiteThis is a bit harder to navigate than the website, but it’s far more convenient to get info while you’re out and about. A fast way to add information while interviewing family for first hand information, you don’t need to be in front of a computer to add relatives..Version: 10.33

I have a tree with over 2000 peopleIf you are interested in the genealogy of your family this app will do it. But the full price of the app is way too high and the claim of newspaper artifacts is quite limited. If your ancestors come from Russia and your Jewish you will not be able to get further back than 1860. Assuming that your family came here in the very early 1900’s. My son in law is from German decent and I could trace his family back to 1675 when they came here as early settlers of Ohio, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Everyone in my family did ancestry DNA and it we found it very interesting. I had thought we were the only family with our last name in the America but with the DNA and matches I found that another family with my last name settled in Chicago around the same time my grandfather came. This I am sure of because I am a match for at least on of that clan. But I cannot figure out how we are related because the answer to that is in the small towns in Russia where the Jews were persecuted by the tzar and forced them to immigrate to the US. Instead of five stars I put four because I think they mislead me with the “all access” when it really isn’t “all access”.Version: 10.47.1

Ancestry appThis app forms a great mobile link to the desktop product. Very intuitive.Version: 10.28

ResearchI like Ancestry but don’t like that you have to pay a huge subscription to get/confirm information on line however, it’s better that MyHeritage as you can still add to your tree without having to pay(if you know the information) where as MyHeritage you have to pay to keep updating it. Hope that made sense? Since using Ancestry we have family members contact us & it has been great..Version: 9.16

Avoid - use the websiteNew app design is shocking, removes functionality, and introduces settings that do not work. You can no longer search match surnames or preview public trees. This is probably the prettiest redesign I’ve seen, but it’s completely unusable. Avoid and use the website..Version: 12.22

Exploring my FamilyAncestry has enabled me to explore and discover so much about my family ancestors. It has enriched my life and I have been able to find and add so much to the story of our family which is now available to all my current family and for generations to come..Version: 14.16

Fascinating information availableHighly recommend getting a DNA test done, as was recommended to me. Then Ancestry alerts you to DNA matches. Want to leave some history, real-life stories and photos behind for future generations - as we all want to know this somewhere along on our life journey.Version: 16.0.1

Getting better all the timeNow you can do correspondence in the app, maybe a few more people might answer..Version: 9.7

Ethnic Background Research UpdateLove this app. It was amazing for me to learn that I have ancestors across 3 different continents when I did the DNA test. The “Thrulines” feature is amazing too but I would like to suggest in future updates that there can be some way to search for DNA matches that share varying percentages of ethnic backgrounds. I am very interested in connecting the dots with the Latino side of my family and finding out if possible where I can trace my African heritage as well. Since I have nearly 100,000 DNA matches and not even close to half of the people have pictures associated with their profile, it is hard to tell what ethnic backgrounds are shared with people without clicking individually on every profile. If there was a way to show any or all DNA matches who have, say, more than “10% total Sub-Saharan African and/or 25% Central American” that would be REALLY helpful in potentially connecting dots and further filling in my family tree. I would love to find where those connections are but it is really hard to do without a filter in the search that allows you to bring up DNA matches with people in specific categories. Thanks for your help! I really hope this is a feature you guys will be able to add in the future..Version: 11.7

AncestryGood value for money, and as a new person to this adsorbing activity it leads you in the right direction. I still make errors but the app helps me to retrieve the situation. I am sure there are more advanced ways of finding your relatives but Ancestry will do for me for a long time to come. If I had a complaint I feel that 5he full package is far too expensive and should be offered to existing members at a greatly reduced rate so we can follow through all leads. Well worth the cost if starting out..Version: 10.46

Really good appI love using the Ancestry app, which I do on a daily basis. It is a great place to record the story of my family tree. However, it has been very buggy recently, I would say to the extent of being unusable. When uploading photos to the lifestory section, I receive an error at at every attempt and the photos are not attached. When I tag two people into a photo, one of them is removed upon saving every time. This has only been happening in the last few days. Also, I would like the option of uploading videos to my tree..Version: 15.21

Ancestry app - all my research continuously with meWhen I started I used to carry multiple folders or, ifnot allowed, a note book always regretting that I couldn't just look something up in the notes/tree I had left at home. Now everything is to hand wherever I am as long as I have a phone, tablet or laptop which I think is fantastic. I can see my tree with all its notes and attachments, look at my DNA results or matches and also do research when I get a spare moment . Rated a 5 because it deserves it 😃.Version: 9.2

Awesome for connecting missing dotsAm using this App to find my links to my Dads family... am having a blast learning about my links....Version: 9.5

Finding familySince I joined ancestry nearly 8 years ago I have not only found out amazing facts about my family, I have found numerous lost cousins but most important of all I have found a long lost paternal brother I had been trying to find for 25 years and his son found me after looking for more than 40 years with private detectives. We found each other within 24 hours of my joining ancestry. Now I also have found close cousins all over the world and been able to share our lifetime stories. I will always be grateful to Ancestry and my first 14 day free trial.Version: 15.6

Why I prefer Ancestry Family TreeI’ve tried and do use other family tree genealogy sites. Each has its own strength. Ancestry is more user friendly and produces a product that is easily read and visually representative of the family relationships. One feature I would like to see is an easier way to insert family or individual stories and reminiscences in the timeline of facts. The notes feature was not particularly helpful and are not visible when reading the story or timeline. All photos saved from other sources should automatically be saved in the media gallery. They can be deleted later, if not wanted, but is annoying when one finds it wasn’t saved after viewing it in a hint. I don’t like the new way of adding information from hints that require side by side comparison and checks when I know what I have is correct and the new information is different because of the date of the hint. It risks adding people a second time. Navigating back to a prior page after checking out a hint is not always easy, requiring going out of the tree going back in from an earlier point in the main tree. Otherwise, Ancestry is my choice of genealogy research..Version: 15.14.1

Great mobile family tree resourceI have used the Ancestry app for a couple of years now, and compared with the website, the app is so much better. It shows more record information and pictures without having to pay for their member subscription, which makes it easier to determine if they are actually the person you think they are (with same name, etc). It is also more user friendly and easier to navigate than the website, especially while viewing the tree. Only criticism is it sometimes crashes when you try to add data so you have to relaunch and do it again. A minor complaint for a well designed free app..Version: 10.35

Who do you think you are?Although I’m not famous with a Belgian (Catholic) grandparent who was in the Belgian Resistance in WWII and fought in the trenches in WWI, (despite being a cavalry officer), another grandparent who was Egyptian (Muslim), and the son of the head of Police in Cairo, another grandparent who was Austrian (Jewish), and who was killed in a German concentration camp with his wife, and one grandparent who was English (Protestant), but lost a son in WWII fighting in Singapore against the Japanese, Ancestry has illuminated my ordinary family’s extraordinary past, and it is worthy of a ‘people’s ancestry show’/BBC programme or new Ancestry equivalent, (as are so many other ancestry family histories), along the lines of Who Do You Think You Are? Thank you AncestryDNA and Ancestry..Version: 15.9

Awesome research toolI love the fact that all the research I do is shared and not lost on a paper record in a shoe box somewhere when I pass on. The DNA matches open up a whole new world of relations all over the world. Their research helps me and mine helps them. A great way to leave a legacy for your children who right now have very little interest in family history, but one day.....!.Version: 13.10

Good for moments when I have one spareUseful for times when I just want to look someone up quick, or have few minutes in waiting rooms..Version: 9.9

FantasticLove using the app. Makes going out to research my family even easier..Version: 10.36.2

Problems with updateI have not been able to access Ancestry since this update. I try to go in but the only thing that opens is a screen wanting me to set up a new tree. If I open AncestryDNA I can access my tree, but it is an all version and runs very slow. Thank you for your response. I don’t know why but it working now, after trying it numerous times I can again access my tree through Ancestry. Before I could only access it by going into AncestryDNA and when I would access the tree from there, it was an older version and ran very slow. I only gave it a 3 star rating since I have not had a chance to use it since I have able to finally access it. I have been using Ancestry for many years and have never had a problem before. I have my problems but they are due to my lack of knowledge on how to use some of the features. Thank you.Version: 11.0

Unlocking My PastAncestry has been a joy to explore. I first started my tree several years ago, but had suspended my membership for lack of time to devote to the project. Earlier this year I decided to explore my genetic history through AncestryDNA, so wanted to continue my tree as well. I’ve been thrilled with the enhancements the site has made in the intervening years. It’s been even easier to connect the family dots through the system of ‘hints’ provided by the app. Each time I feel I’ve begun to hit a wall, a new hint is revealed that keeps me going. I’m also pleased with how the genetic app is enhancing my search. I have barely begun to explore the many connections that submitting my DNA revealed. As just a beginning, I can engage any person who is 4th cousin or closer - and who chooses to keep their connection open as well. What I’m most looking forward to is searching for all those Scandinavian relations that make up a full third of my DNA. I had no idea there was any measurable Norse blood in my past! I really am pleased with Ancestry, and AncestryDNA, and have only scratched the surface of the app’s many features and my past..Version: 9.12.1

Record confusionOver the past couple of years Ancestry’s records have become difficult to connect in addition the basing the company in Dublin has increased the cost to the consumer making research less rewarding. From some years ago it appeared that if a number hits were made on a particular record then this record was prompted as being a genuine connection to a family tree and many times it wasn’t correct. Lately records from the USA have a once off charge per extraction and so make the obtaining not justifiable and having a worldwide subscription not cost effective..Version: 13.16

AncectryDNAI have been working on my family history for over 50 years and have accomplished quite a lot. Then, a couple of years ago I discovered Ancestry and am amazed about how much easier it is to do everything. Yes, there are quirks, as there are in every program, but this one is wonderful. I recently decided to have my DNA done, but was too suspicious to give Ancestry all of the information ahead of time, so I used a different e-mail address for my DNA kit, to see if they would be able to come up with the information I have on my charts (back to the 1500s in most cases). I was totally amazed that they pinned all of my ancestors down to the exact areas I was expecting them to be from, including the Jewish ancestor that is on my chart 4-5 generations back. ABSOLUTELY recommend this program. It is very addicting to do family history and this program makes it even easier with the very helpful and accurate hints. Thanks to all of the programmers!.Version: 10.45

Quick & EasyRather than fumble around with the mouse, I can select hints photos or stories really easily. The new tree filters are great and it is a lot easier to look over lists of families so you can correct them. More in app features would be great eg delete a person without going back to home person..Version: 9.15

FlawlessAbsolutely brilliant in every way, has e everything you need as a Geneologist, an absolute godsend.Version: 15.3.2

Love it!Such an amazing app! Mind blowing.Version: 15.17.2

MembershipI love the free trial but the kits are overpriced wish it was included in the trial. Other than that it’s easy to use the app and all. Hopefully it’s more accurate than 23andme and myheritage!.Version: 15.8.1

Great App - Get to know your family again! This is great app to map out and share your family tree, the initial free app I would recommend to get anyone started, if you can then get a subscription to enhance your searching and you too will be addicted, make sure you share and you may find other family members who you can link to, get your oldest family members to tell you as much family history as they can, photos are great too, see what and who they remember, date of births, uncles, aunties. Before you know it they’ll be reliving their youth right before your eyes ;o).Version: 10.33

ResourcefulThis app has been pretty useful. I’ve used it in about 98% percent of my research. I’ve used the laptop version the other two percent. Though it’s still limited by the info that’s put into by other users. I recommend using google to add to the search from time to time. I only used the paid version for a month but it still cut some search time down. If you try the free 1 month trial, I suggest the international version. Costs a lil more but expands the search area. I’ve found out I’m descendant of a Viking “king and queen” from 850 Denmark! And they are the grandparents of the inspiration for the term “Bluetooth”. Herald Gromsonn the “Bluetooth” No telling what you’ll find! Get start!ed 👍 My only complaint is if you delete a sibling or a wrong ancestor, it’ll kick you all the way back to you. If you have to remove a few duplicate sibling entries, it gets annoying. Update: I’ve gone all the way back to about 200 AD. It would be nice to see my entire tree and not just a specific branch..Version: 15.2

Ancestry has taken my tree so much further. For years I did my family history by walking the hard yards, sitting in libraries reviewing records and indexes, and visiting country towns retracing the pioneers' footsteps. But ancestry has allowed me to link up to so many other branches of the family. Dead-ends have turned into leads and lost relatives have suddenly appeared..Version: 8.8

Highly recommendGreat app, much easier to use than the website. The app gives you a small preview of the records (when you don’t have a subscription) which is helpful to see if it relates to you person or not..Version: 13.5

Finding familyAncestry first off is amazing. I haven’t got my results back yet but it’s been amazing searching family I know and it’s been something me and my mom can bond over since she’s helping me. One thing though is when I search my last name. My last name is Hulzebos which is Dutch but whenever I do the little search surname, it doesn’t pop up. It’s not anything serious but I would really like to see results about Hulzebos. The other is that I would search some past family members who are dead but they wouldn’t pop up, I was able to find my late father but I could search up like my great grandpa for example and he wouldn’t pop up. It’s not something serious, ancestry again is amazing but I do wish that these kinds of things would show up..Version: 15.24.3

My AncestoryLove working on Ancestory app , I receive many suggestions from Ancestory which I find very exciting. I look forward to working on my tree every day because Ancestory whole team is working with me. One small problem is I can’t make a comment beside a the picture or other , this is on the app but if I need to comment I use my I Mack apple . I would not be with out Ancestory, Thanks all. Margaret.Version: 10.39

Lost generationsAfter searching the old fashioned way for my heritage the old fashioned way Ancestry did all the legwork and hard yards in the 2 years I have been investigating. I have no reason not to recommend this application to anybody chasing info and also doing the DNA test which has put me in contact with relatives all around the world, thanks Ancestry team you made the search for info on my maternal/paternal parents and siblings easy. ChrisA.Version: 14.20

Ancestry mobile phone appExcellent to be able to check Family Tree whilst out and about gathering information. Useful tool to share with family and friends..Version: 10.28

FamilyAlthough at times people add ancestors that are wrong. Being vigilant and checking it can be avoided. That checking sometimes brings up little beauties!! I just don’t know what I would do without you Ancestry. I have traced both mine snd my husbands tree back to William the Conqueror. Yes we are distantly related. What an amazing find. Off the back of that now have had book made called “Related” How could I have done this without you Thank you Anne 😁❣️.Version: 13.17.1

Accurate and easyEasy to use, good links to info.Version: 8.7.1

Loved it before latest design.I use this all the time. It Was convenient and easy. Now the start page looks like drive through Las Vegas, with the pages for individuals is a walk through Times Square. Both places might be nice for a visit, but having to “live there” every time I open the app has become so tiring I’m using my other mobile apps. Since my tree is on Ancestry, that’s a pain - but not as much a pain as the horrible, busy, ugly new interface. Genealogy is complicated enough without trying to keep up with whatever new, “fun”, family stories and pictures project you want us to get involved with. Really - the app is now like going to Walmart instead of a library. Not everyone has to have all the photos and different colored distractions. Please make a separate app for genealogical scrapbooking. In particular, as an autistic woman, the interface has become so chaotic it’s nearly impossible for me to force myself to use an app I used to open every day. Please, I beg you, go back to the straightforward genealogy program..Version: 15.1.1

Overall goodOverall this is a great app, which are used extensively. They’ve improved quite a few things over the past few years. As of this writing, there are still a few glitches: The titles of attached photos often disappear when they are attached to multiple individuals (which for the time being is why I always duplicate the photo title in the description portion in case that happens). It is quite frustrating that you cannot delete records on the app like you can on a laptop. For some reason, some marriage records create duplicate marriage events, even when the people you are attaching it to are already linked as married, and even win their names are exactly as on the new marriage record. This is incredibly frustrating and happens often. Perhaps most frustrating is what seems to be a recent glitch where all of a sudden the supporting records and attachments for an event are no longer attached to that event, and sometimes even the date and location disappear. I have found when that happens if I reattach the records, it will go back to the way it was originally with that information where it belongs. If you delete a person, sometimes the person remains. I have found this is usually fixed when deleting someone else from that family or when logging out and logging back in..Version: 9.15

Amazing resources at your fingertipsWhen your family history research becomes so complex that you can no longer remember everything, this continuously improved app gives you complete access to an amazing range of details. In spite of my frustration that Ancestry has taken away some resources that were formerly available without additional fees, their software both on a desktop and mobile devices make the annual cost a great bargain. More than just the basic family relationships and personal data, I appreciate access to primary sources such as census records. I upload hundreds of digital photos and this app makes it easy to access these historic images. And as I travel, I always have access to the most recent discoveries I’ve made about my family. If you have an interest in your personal history, this app can keep your interest vital and enjoyable..Version: 9.2

A wonderful way to find your historyI have used this app for five years on iPhones, iPads and computers. I never had to start over or begin a "new tree" because you log in and you information is secure. I love this app for several reasons the first being I have learned so much about the heroes in my family. I can see the struggles, how wars have affected family members. I found living relatives I never knew. The only problem I have is that duplicates still form too easily but the correction process has been simplified. Every update has made corrections easier to do. You can add pictures, obits notes and they automatically add historical facts to make your ancestors come to life. A ‘Warning’ though this can be addictive! Con- even if you have paid for records after having a membership for years once you discontinue or pause your membership you cannot access digital scans of records. You can however see you have the record as well as see the “detail” of the record..Version: 10.42

Editing is difficult. The app is quick and comprehensive. However, it it very difficult to amend or correct a wrong fact.Version: 9.5

Smooth and intuitive.A smooth and friendly interface draws you into the world of ancestry research. The app is a great way to browse your tree while you are away from home base. We use it at family get togethers - we sit around, pass around the iPad flicking through the different parts of the tree and chat about the family history. Great fun - gives you a sense of place in time. A good way for new members of the family to learn how we all hang together by seeing it all nicely laid out in colour..Version: 10.32

GratefulThank you for this app, it has made me want to pursue my family tree and I learn more every time I do so Thank you 🤗.Version: 10.26

Brilliant Online Family TreeEver since first buying original family tree program, have found online family trees such good fun and so easy to add to etc. This App now totally helps to make it effortless to update, or look at trees, from all “devices” synced to online tree. Having the tree on iphone helps solve endless queries & questions about one’s relatives!!.Version: 9.17

A long time ago.......In a place far far away. No knowing anyone on my fathers side of our family it was kind of sad. Who where they and where did they come from? After some connections a lot of documents and a little luck, my discovery was amazing. Having the name Jones obviously makes it difficult to ensure, with so many with the same name, that an ancestor is ours. Yet, when the documents like a Draft card has parents names and addresses which reflect the child you know. Your face lights up as each connection becomes a reality. John Lee Jones is my big find. A settler of the west in Utah, in and around Cedar City. It was amazing to read a story of how he took his family and many Saints ( Latter-day ) from Missouri through the mountains to Utah. With his huge family and friends they carved out a settlement. To say the least I feel so proud to have had family like this. Best of luck on your search..Version: 11.6

Love this siteUnfortunately due to the crisis in the world at this moment I’m not able to pay a membership until things return to some sort of normality, it’s like we have been taken back to the war years, although I was a little girl then, I still have memories. I’ve enjoyed every minute trying to find out about my ancestors, I love the site and could sit for hours although I’m still a true novice and would still love to explore more god willing. Thank you to everyone with a hand in bring this site to us..Version: 15.10.3

Experience with the appMy experience is using it on an iPhone with 64 Gb memory. It is difficult to swap easily between trees as each has to be downloaded every time. I had a tree shared with me and it was very large, it took an age to download and once it was in the process of I couldn’t stop it, so therefore Gould not go to other ancestry things. Another even larger tree just never completed download again couldn’t come out of it and so could not use the rest of Ancestry. In this case I had to delete the app and re-install..Version: 10.29

My historyI am constantly amazed at the knowledge that is imparted from Ancestry and only wish that I was a bit younger to be able to grasp the technical know-how to gain the full benefits of it all......but I am getting better I think. Things need to be more clearly set out perhaps. It has been wonderful to meet my second cousin in UK through email and I hope to meet more in the future. I made an error on my tree with Lillian Bennett and have been unable to correct it, which dampened my enthusiasm. Overall, you have a wonderful program, thank you. Dellas Macdougall.Version: 10.31

AncestryAn easy and enjoyable way to research, track and share family information..Version: 8.7.1

SimplicityThis app is very easy to use. However users must be certain they have accurate information. Look for other sources before putting in information.Version: 16.0

Great but not for all familiesAs amazing as it is to be able to create a family tree on here I could not find anything new as most of my family is from Poland and most of the information they have access to is from America. If there was a way that they could add records not only from US I think it would help a lot more people. But I know that might be a bit much to ask for So overall great for making a family tree but not too helpful for finding people from outside of the US.Version: 13.14

Big improvementsWhilst some of the mobile platform isnt as good as the computer one, this has improved considerably. I find the hints easier to see & understand & this is a great reference point when out & about or away. I can just bring it up to check people or find someone. A lot more rigour than before..Version: 9.5

Ancestry treeLove the App however when I have too many of the same hints I would like to delete them a little easier than saying that they are not family. I take my iPad everywhere so it is quite easy to add details if I get them when visiting. I don't like the choices for saving or deleting. Sometimes they are correct but I just don't want to save them because they may belong to another member of the family and I can't save them to the other person. I don't like getting multiple hints from USA if I have asked for Australia, or England or Europe. One or two are ok but I have seen dozens!.Version: 9.2

GreatUser friendly, easy to navigate and enter in known information. Expensive for tracking family history of unknown. Best if you have plenty of time over the trial period to get all you can find and cancel the subscription before the trial period ends. Retains your family tree without having subscription..Version: 10.30.1

App AncestryA great tool when interviewing elders and researching on the 'spot' as it were. Great access to records. Only downside is family input information appears to be onsold to other Familytree sites. I belong to another site where my own information was offered back to me for a fee. So when on a Public site be absolutely sure you want to share..Version: 9.2

AncestryEasy to use like how it sets up your family tree, connects you to family a lot I don’t know.Version: 14.0

Great app, not-so-great updateI absolutely love this app. I’ve made a family tree of over 7,000 people, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. It’s so interesting to find out these things about my family and I love that this app gives me the opportunity to do so. As for the recent update... it’s not my favorite. They completely neglected some of the app’s prominent bugs and focused their efforts on making it aesthetically pleasing. As great as the app is, there are some glitches that definitely need fixing. An aesthetic change is not what this app needs. Besides, I prefer the way it looked earlier. If you haven’t tried this app out I would definitely recommend, you do get some bonuses if you pay for a subscription but you can still get a lot of enjoyment out of it without paying. It’s a lot of fun and I would definitely recommend trying it out, but some of these bugs really need fixing..Version: 12.0.1

❤️5 STARS ARE NOT ENOUGH⭐️Have been enjoying this app for years, and it never ceases to amaze me. Losing myself in the stories of newly discovered ancestors is thrilling, stirring all my emotions. My parents are dead and there are no relatives to consult, so until I joined Ancestry I didn't know about anyone in my tree except for grandparents on my mother's side, and very little was known about them. Thanks to Ancestry, I've found out about my father's parents from Ukraine...and the 4 generations before them. 🇺🇦🇳🇴🇸🇪 My husband's family had always been a mystery too, because his father was an orphan whose mother died when he was a child. That's a whole new, fascinating story. 🇳🇴🇬🇧 Every new day seems to open an exciting new chapter somewhere in my tree. I'm frequently brought to tears for one reason or another, (usually from relief, the joy of finding another person, another fact about someone, etc.), and I drift off, letting my imagination carry me away. So much better than reading a novel; it's our real twisting, turning family story that will never end as long as Ancestry is here to provide the clues, and we're extremely grateful.🔎🌏🌳.Version: 14.17

Complicated but effectiveThe ancestry app takes a bit of getting used to, but once you’ve mastered it, it becomes much easier for most work than the website (which is incredibly busy). I’d definitely recommend it, but it does take time to work out what’s where. (Start with options along the bottom).Version: 14.10

Finding my familyAncestry DNA were able to locate a number of first cousins. I was adopted as a baby and had never met a relative from either my birth or adopted family. At the age of 66 I took the plunge (and the test) because I wanted my children and grandchildren to have some idea of where we came from. I had built up a notion in my head that I was probably an illegitimate child of some poor young mum. Imagine my surprise when I found out that I was half right. My birth mother was young when she had me at 24 years of age, but I was the youngest of five boys in an unhappy marriage. Two of my brothers are still alive and I have been given a warm welcome by so many relatives. Heartfelt thanks..Version: 10.37

Care requiredI love this app, it’s easy to build a tree by cross-referencing, but it's easy to make mistakes if you don't treat the available hints with discretion - I've come across quite a few trees with my family in them because of mistakes. Obviously that's not the app's fault. Also, I've come across records that suggest the information is from Manchester, for example, but when the record is imported it becomes clear that it meant Manchester, Jamaica, which was not what I intended! Other examples of location problems exist..Version: 14.22.1

ReviewHighly recommend this for people wanting to find out about their family heritage. I have learned so much and could not find a better app for family heritage..Version: 10.26

Ancestry App 5🌟I have found the Ancestry App to far exceed my expectations! Now having been on this amazing genealogical journey for close to four decades seriously; I am truly grateful and amazed by the way Ancestry facilitates my travels along the way. On any given day they have possibly surprised me with new and enhanced quality of service to raise my heart to further efforts in my safari for the information of our families story to see more clearly and more definitively what paths the many stories have taken to get us all where we are today. I certainly hope that they will continue to be as proactively innovative in their future as they have shown themselves to be in their past and currently. I give it a 5 star 🌟 plus rating for a viable option to increase your productivity in your experience as a family historian!!.Version: 13.9

New familyI found out that my father wasn’t my biological father. I was the apple of his eye and he was my everything. I took the DNA test to find out my ethnicity and I told my cousin whom was supposed to be my double cousin since her father and my mother where brother and sister and it was supposed to be her mother and my father were sister and brother. Two brothers and sisters married and had children making double cousins. Well when she took the test and it revealed that she wasn’t as related as these three women were on my test, I was stunned and so was she because she got a cousin on her mother side to also take the test and it revealed she was more related to him than me. So we knew something was very wrong I became suspicious that I was not my father’s daughter and those three women was my siblings, we started talking and decipher things out. I was raised in very affluent family and my father didn’t know and died before finding out, my mother also passed away but she knew of the secret. I’m writing a book about this because it’s a lot more to this story..Version: 14.22.1

The bestI have three different apps to help with my genealogy research but, quite honestly, I could do without the other two and just stick with Ancestry. It does everything I need and the interface is perfect and intuitive, unlike the alternatives which have to be learnt. My only suggestions for improvement would be to offer a text search facility, so that I could more easily find family events which happened in a particular location, e.g. Abergavenny, also a viewable timeline to help fix ancestors' births, deaths etc. to minimise dating errors..Version: 10.24

Definitely five stars!I found out a lot of secrets in my family that I never knew about that some family members just don’t talk about or keep secrets from everyone. Lol so it was very interesting. Also, I got to find out about the history of my family on both sides and it’s pretty cool and very interesting, and a great thing that everyone should know about is where they came from, what made them who and how they are genetically and socially (location and environment) but one thing I do know is we are all unique in our own way and us as humans we’re all somehow connected in one way or another, and we all should stand together as human kind and put aside all the separation of one another , judgment to each other,, violence toward another human being, hatred towards a certain type of person, racism towards a certain race, inequality between people, and all stick together as one in the this world and it would make the earth be much better place to live on. Love and Peace to all mankind! -Philip J..Version: 15.4

Good App, ConvenientI really appreciate the convenience of being able to do ancestry on my phone! It makes it so easy to hop on and do a few leaves between activities. The app works well, but with a few issues. Occasionally, when trying to view something with a photo/attachment, it will say I need a paid account to view it, but usually when I go back and then click on it again, it works. Also, there are a few hints that take you to a website that you have to pay to be a member, just to see if that hint is the person in your tree (e.g. family search); I always skip those hints. Thirdly, a few hints always mess up no matter how many times you try to accept them; it just says something went wrong; try again later. (I’ve noticed this with newspaper articles.) I only give 4 stars because the census pictures only show you one page, whereas on the PC you can click to view the next page or previous page. Often the family is split between two pages, and I can’t confirm anything that is not on the page that it chooses to show me. If this were changed, I could give 5 stars, though those other problems still need addressed too..Version: 10.26

Very goodThe ancestry app is overall very good, and easy to use. I was a bit worried that it may be a little messy at first, but it’s designed very well and it’s very easy to configure and navigate through! This actually makes the app pretty convenient, especially if you’re away from your computer, or are confined to a phone for any given reason. Uploading media such as photos on this app is actually quicker on the app than desktop, but it’s also entirely possible that I may be just saying that from the perspective of preference. The only real gripe I have with this app is that it may occasionally be prone to crashing, and while it hasn’t happened particularly often to me, it is annoying when it does happen while working ok research and you lose your spot. Overall, I think this app is very good, and I do recommend people download it, it is a very helpful app..Version: 13.24.1

Great for on the go!30JAN19 Update: I don’t know if I’ve never used this feature? Tried to add burial information for my aunt last night and it won’t save. It just keeps spinning. Tried to go through “App Support” to report the glitch and it pulls up a blank page. So I’m reporting it here and docking a star until it’s fixed. After 10 years, my cousins are finally starting to become interested, so I need the app to be able to save Facts on the go. 18DEC18 Update: I’ve also been using the app to investigate shaky leaves and clean up duplicate hints in the nooks and crannies of my day. The integration with my DNA results has been amazing as well! Perfect companion to my Ancestry tree! Original: I love being able to whip out my phone to verify family stories as we're talking about them. Also, to jot down notes as my Mom remembers them so I can find the paper trail later on. Another perk is to show them pictures of our ancestors in a flash. Love it!.Version: 10.24

Hope O CreasmanI have used Ancestry since its inception. As a previous person stated, At first it was lacking records, but now it is amazing. If they could make the search where it would narrow down some more, because looking through 2,000 or more and having people come up who are in the 1900s when you want the late 1700s is very aggravating to me. Surely if you put the date of 1768, why are 1970s people showing up. Same with state, if I put SC and California is shown, I wonder why did I even put South Carolina, But I have to admit it does give you much more accurate information. And the DNA information amazes me. If the new ones would put their trees online and the stubborn old ones not keep everything to themselves, especially when you have given them information. Especially on the pictures. I have so many to identify and Rosa or Jose is from the same family, but they won’t share. However ancestry has really added to my knowledge and I know it will get better and better because it already has. It is sad to me because I won’t be around to see what’s to come. (I am 73.) So if you want to know is it worth it? I say a definite YES..Version: 9.21

Happy History HuntingI’ve used this app for a good few years now & it’s not only a great source of info, it keeps my family tree up to date. I love the fact you can search online as well as sharing with other peoples compatible trees. The layout is good & easy to use. The amount of facts I have been able to obtain has enhanced my search. My favourite part about it is when I am taking a trip into Register House or visiting places connecting to my ancestry all the info comes with me if I need to refer to it. Everybody should know where they come from & enjoy the journey of genealogy, this app is the perfect tool..Version: 10.35

New AppOh dear! What have you done with the App? I have had problems logging in and received a number of other error messages when navigating around the app. Also the gaudy colours are horrid, the photos are cropped, the hints don't work and the sources have disappeared from the Gallery. It seems you now have to click on "Find Sources" which just takes you back to the Ancestry website BUT in a new Tab. Consequently, if trying to look at a number of sources from the app, you end up with a succession of open Ancestry tabs online. Not very user friendly and a step back rather than a step forward. Finally, I rather gathered from the update info that there was now a Smart Story like feature although unless I am missing something this doesn't seem to be present..Version: 9.1

DNA view VERY limitedThe new ancestry app vs the ancestry dna app is very limited on what is shows regarding dna. The old app was much better or the website.Version: 15.1.1

History really can be exciting!!Loving the brain challenge of tracing the family tree. Lots of great hints given along the way to keep my interest aroused too. So many ways to check on the past and make sure I am heading in the right direction. I love it. Even found a few lost relatives to chat with along the way..Version: 9.21

A great additional tool for my genealogy research. This app is making my research so much easier. A much more portable method of recording detail and uploading pictures. Early days yet but I am so enthusiastic about the additional tool that adds value to research..Version: 10.39

Frustrating and time wasting when things are lost.I tried to delete replication of one family member and ended up losing an entire generation! I have just wasted 6 hours of my life for nothing! I restarted using after same frustration 5 years ago and thought (surely!) by now it would be more user friendly. But nope nope. Fix it guys. You are getting enough money to make this work way better than it does. 0 out of 5 stars..Version: 12.24.1

ImpressedI use this app on my ph and find it extremely helpful when I do a search..Version: 13.0

Good AppSeems to work well and looks good too!.Version: 15.12.1

Absolutely Fabulous!I got bit by the ancestry bug in 2009 before I became a member. What started this for me was learning all I could about my great grandfather (my moms dads father.). Great grandpa left the home when my grandpa was three years old no one knew too much about him. Before becoming a member I was able to locate the him and within three weeks I actually drove to a rural cemetery and found his grave!! I was also able to find history. A few years ago I joined Ancestry as a full member and absolutely love it! My family tree, maternal and paternal, goes back for some to the 1500s. Two years ago I did the AncestryDNA (the reports were just updated recently as well!) I can attest to the fact they are accurate because I know where a lot of my family came from and the DNA members it matched me to are relatives, some I know (but didn’t realize they were members.) Totally fascinating and soul fulfilling to know where my people came from know what blood runs through my veins. Rock on Ancestry! I’m hooked ❤️👍🏽.Version: 9.15

Nicely DoneApp works pretty well so far. I do miss the option that is available on the web site for hints where you can flag a hint as a ‘maybe’ for later consideration or reject it outright with a ‘no’. It also seems that a lot of (all?) the source images are not available on the app..Version: 10.24

DecentIn some ways better that the web version. In other ways, not, but overall, it works well, navigates OK and never crashed on me..Version: 9.2

Ease of useApp is very easy to use. It is user friendly. Not complicated to understand and makes adding and finding information trouble free. Love it. Thanks..Version: 9.9

J’aime énormément!J’adore l’application. Seul bémol, quand on cherche un certificat de naissance, faut chercher des toutes les catégories mélangée! Ça rend la recherche encore plus laborieuse..Version: 15.17.1

More featuresThe test is great. However ancestry could add some more features, like: filtering less the shared matches, I know that just shows the higher ones. It doesn’t show the number of matches in the app, only in the website. It would be good if you can show the triangulation between matches. It would be great to know the haplogroups as well..Version: 15.10

Ancestry reveiwI enjoy this App I find though there’s a longer route to get to the DNA page I have to go through Google to get to my matches page. It worries me when I see in red “delete tree” and I’m concerned one day I might accidentally hit it The new matches have dried up recently What would be handy is a search of ethnicity as I have 4% African it would be great to search for say “Mali” and get all the results of my 15k matches refined Otherwise it’s quite comprehensive and fun to use.Version: 13.23

At times very difficultI have been gathering information on my wife's family for some time now but have only just started to use Ancestry in Ernest. It is reasonably straight forward but find the links difficult to follow and sometimes understand but this is not Ancestrys fault but I believe just getting to find my way around the old methods of recording and making sure the links are those for the family tree I am following. It is however, very facinating..Version: 9.11

The app worked, why’d you change it?So now I can’t change the order in which I view my dna matches, the option is simply gone. Why ancestry, why? I like to know when new matches come in, now I’m having to navigate to the physical website, which can be annoying on mobile! Put it back please!.Version: 15.19

Arbre généalogiqueTrès pratique pour construire et avoir son arbre généalogique sous la main..Version: 15.7.1

AncestryAncestry is my first stop when researching my family tree. Like all family history sites it has the odd hiccup. But on the whole it is first rate. If I fail to find something on Ancestry, I have a look on Findmypast or on the free Morman site which collects lots of information. However I keep my basic family tree on Family Historian first (and make a CD backup) before updating my family tree on Ancestry. This gives me a reliable version of my tree in case anything goes wrong at Ancestry..Version: 9.3

Enjoy finding long lost relatives, but...I really do enjoy the Ancestry app. Although there have been many occasions where I have had to go to the actual website, because there are functions on the website that I can’t access through the app. One would think the app would have MORE features than the website, but that’s not the case here. That’s why I only gave 4 stars. Plus, lets face it. There really aren’t that many ways to search ones family history from one central access point, except for Ancestry. But make the website & the app with the same accessible features, and that fifth star will be all yours, Ancestry. 👍🏼😉 Also, I am a paying member. With the amount of money I pay annually to be a member, not to mention through multiple years, it sure would be nice if you would throw in a genetics history test for no charge. THAT would earn you 5-Stars-PLUS!.Version: 9.21

Best genealogy app!I have conveniently been using this app for years to easily input new data and connect with unknown relatives. Highly recommend this app! Thanks!.Version: 15.14

AncestryVery good application Just sadly it cost some money to get more information. It is not possible for the average person to afford the cost of research..Version: 9.2

Geneolegy Number One WebsiteI have been using this site for a few years, the best geneolegy site online. They are also bringing out more and more files. There could be a better family tree set-up, because your writing notes, addresses and dates. I would like to add address for the census and occupations. It makes it easier for cross references. With the census only being 1911 out, as time goes on, families are splitting up and moving greater distances. I know my daughter will disappear from the census only to reappear in later on and the same goes with me..Version: 10.39

Ancestry app is excellentI’ve been researching my ancestors for 35 years and the Ancestry App is the best tool I have ever seen. You can find new ancestors, photos of them, where they lived, their occupation all while having a 15min coffee break wherever you are. Hints are generated for you which are quite often exactly right. Well done Ancestry. Link your Ancestry tree to the FamilyTreeMaker program on your laptop and you can sync it and you have everything you need..Version: 8.10

App on new iPhoneFinding my way around a different interface easily. Have always found this app very good to use especially when I don’t have my laptop on holiday. Also handy to have when you are waiting for an appointment in a waiting room! I am missing the “Facts” timeline though as I use it more than the story part which has more words..Version: 10.44

Good but...One thing I find disappointingly difficult is editing and changing errors some of which seem to be the result of of the way the files work. Should be more user friendly in this regard! But the auto-search and discovery facility is very useful and almost makes the cost worthwhile. As a retired pensioner, eventually the cost will be beyond my means. With ageing populations throughout the western world, Ancestry may need to consider pensioner discounts?.Version: 10.42

Great app could be fantastic with a bug fix. Use it every day.The mobile app has most the features of the PC version so can dip in and out adding info to tree when not at PC. 4 stars as has a really annoying fault which is that the app adds a life story which assumes the places you put as an address are in USA so makes no sense when you have a UK address underneath. Could be even better if the added a way to refine the search parameters as on the PC version . For example, The top 100 census choices are reams of voting address or phone book when you might wish to scan just census data but looking for miss spelt or variants of names. Other wise fab app..Version: 9.12.2

Ancestry finally recognizes New ZealandMy father was born in New Zealand. His grandfather emigrated from Galway, Ireland during the New Zealand gold rush. He spent much of his life researching his ancestry and was able to trace us all the way back to the Norman invasion. It is uplifting to see that you have finally included New Zealand and Australia in your data base. I am also encouraged to see that I have 2% Welsh Ancestry, since my Ancestor The Princess of Wales, who bore two illegitimate sons by King Henry I, asked his, Steward, Gerald to marry Nesta and raise his sons, which he did. Gerald and Nesta had two more sons and one daughter together, who eventually became the Knights of Kildare and the Earls of Desmond. I wish there was some way to add facts confirming the guesstimates, which allows members to add factual research to the data base..Version: 15.4

Opens so many doorsThis Ancestry App is user-friendly; all areas of the website can be accessed wherever you might be (internet connection availability is needed, of course) It is easy to search, to check-out family links through the ‘hints’ that regularly appear, giving access to countless records such as census, electorate, birth, marriage and death records. The family tree - complete or in specifically requested sections, is clearly set out in a horizontal or vertical format - you can change between the two. The App facilities will show a line of descent from whomever you choose to yourself. There is much, much more - pictures, data sheets, photographs can be added manually to build up a fuller archive of your family. The DNA links (has to be bought separately, but is excellent value) literally opens up the world to you, will enable you to contact others who share some of your DNA, and will give you an incredible picture of your journey from the far distant past. I love the App, it does all I need it to do - sometimes it can be too convenient, and hours slip away in indulgent ancestry searches. Very highly recommended..Version: 10.42

Love this appI found my fathers cousin who he confirmed after I read through my DNA matches. After referencing from what my paternal grandmother told me about my grandpa’s sister and parents I found where my grandpa, his sister, and his parents lived in Up State NY after leaving Lithuania by 1918. Maternal side I had family documents, and family stories from libraries in Brooklyn showing my Franco-Dutch side going back to New Netherlands (New Jersey, and New York) before The English came in. I used my Franco-Belgian, and Italian family reunion documents my moms cousin gave me and was able to see others from common ancestors. My paternal grandmother had her fathers Polish Military Passport and I found in Zołynia, Poland on the map that matched my DNA analysis to be very accurate along my Genetic Communities. This is a must have app, even if you have little evidence you’ll find more details along the way..Version: 15.3.3

UpdatesI loved the ancestry app - everything was perfect on there and now since these new updates I hate going on there it’s just a shambles. Too many changes and everything has just been made complicated and hate how the background and colour etc has been changed on the trees and cannot even view your matches trees on app. I wish I could go back to the old app before these new updates..Version: 12.22

Dna section not working properlyUpdate: working much better! Old: Let me start with the positive: the tree section is lovely, helpful, works well, and I love it. Now, the negative: the DNA section, which updated on the 1 July is not great. It is set up similar to the website, but please consider that apps are used on devices, such as a phone. The DNA section has become a behemoth if information, difficult to manage or view, crashes if you try and look at Cousin matches for a second person... it used to be quite simple and elegant with the 11 generation view, and option but not requirement to open other users’ entire trees. How can I possibly appreciate their full multi- thousand tree of information on my iPhone? I hate to complain, I use the Ancestry app daily. Some people do crosswords or sudoku. I work on the family tree, it’s my favorite puzzle. I just wish I could use the DNA cousins’ section with ease, but it seems to have become way too huge to appreciate as a simple task in bed or during down time, with the phone. It has become a project strictly for sitting at my computer. Is there any chance to make it more convenient for device use? It’s an app, after all. Thanks :).Version: 10.39

I like but it needs some additionsI love finding all my long dead relatives but I wish there were more detailed options for your family tree. For example, it should include siblings on each layer of the tree to make even more accurate assessments of relation. Also, including an option for adopted children would be amazing. My grandfather was adopted by his aunt, and so she kept being listed as his mother when in fact she was only his mother by adoption. As a result of this, I’m having an incredibly hard time finding out who my actual great-grandmother is because the records are only show the adopted parents name. There should be a way to include both adopted parents for the purposes of records AND the actual parents for genetic purposes. Also, it would be nice if there were more inclusive options that were sensitive to transgender individuals, including the records for older relatives who may have had to alter their paperwork because of the times they were living in. The history that you can uncover is really eye-opening and I just think everyone should be able to experience it..Version: 9.21

AncestryI love everything about this site it’s so easy to use and the amount of information is incredible I have been using it for about 10 years and I do make use of other apps but this is where all my family history is kept and where I get most of my information from r.Version: 11.8.1

Lynes Family TreeI have found your app very very helpful and time saving , thank you..Version: 10.46

Love itI have used this App for many years, suddenly I was no longer registered as it dropped off due to my credit card being accessed fraudulent and I failed to update my new card, once a realised and I had to reregister my account and now it's so much more expensive but I like be it any way and recommend it to everyone..Version: 9.2

Very good appVery good app and easy to use. Lots of new information for your tree can readily be found..Version: 10.42

Made some great discoveriesThrough Ancestry DNA, I have discovered an entire branch of the family that I didn’t know existed. There were some shocking surprises in the journey but meeting some wonderful people has made it all worthwhile. Having multiple family members tested as well as constructing the family tree is highly recommended as more hints become forthcoming. The Ancestry program is a big help but you need to understand that it doesn’t do all of the hard work for you - it can only work with the data it has so you will need to do some of your own research as well. It is good that any living people in the tree are private by default. The DNA results helps a great deal in placing the pieces together..Version: 8.10

Finding lost storiesFor the past 40 years, I’ve been working on my family tree. Initially, it was a very tedious and manually process. I spent many hours interviewing family, traveling to courthouses, halls of records and even newspaper office microfiche record rooms. I was an early adopter of Ancestry and have watched it evolve through the years. The extent of records and resources is mind-blowing. It’s all at your fingertips now and the application navigates the sea of data quite well. Algorithms assist in gathering and presenting leads and building the tree in a logical manner. I am utterly amazed at the stories I have found…and I am still finding. There is still a lot of detail to discover. Ancestry is constantly adding new data and records for review, so the stories and leads continue to become available. This is the most compelling non-fictional tale you’ll find!.Version: 14.15

Ancestry - The family treeI had been wanting to start our family tree some time but just didn’t know where to start until I signed up with Ancestry. Since then I have literally lost hours! Without Ancestry, I couldn’t have got as far as I have, it not only allows you to search the records but also puts you in touch with others who have the same or similar people in their tree too. I’m certainly glad of the help Ancestry has given me..Version: 10.37

Family treeI have spent many hours days researching my family history, on Ancestry. I also took a DNA test and the results I find fascinating and have connected with many relations on both sides of my family. At the moment I am having difficulty in following research on my paternal great grandfather David Griffiths . I thought that he was divorced but then somebody else had him as deceased but this was prior to the birth of my great grandmother. I must try again to find the missing parts of my research. I have been amazed with how my research has given me information which I did not know . My grandparents lived in wern Ganol cottages and in the 1st cottage lived her uncle and his family and I was unaware that they were related , although I'spent many hours at my grandparents house. Also I did not know until I sent for my grandfather's birth certificate that my great grandmother was Irish. I am now putting photos on my tree so that family members can now have their own identity. Myrtle Stephens.Version: 9.2

Stumbling blocksHow to get so absorbed in finding new relatives. It’s great to be able see other trees and the chance to occasionally write to that person. I would like to have a marker to know where I left off or need further study . I would like a highlighter to a family member that is a stumbling block and needs further investigation so that if it’s proven the trail is saved ..Version: 15.7.1

Great app, apart from minor bugsI think that this is a brilliant app, however it is if course reliant on the accuracy of information on the ancestry website which the user has entered. It is also very biased towards US data so will sometimes display inaccurate information. I love the fact that you can quickly navigate the family tree and the app tries to add other relevant information from the Internet and also has search facilities available. Overall I think that it's a great app, just falling short in some areas, but hopefully it will improve with more updates..Version: 9.17

Birthday useUseful tip- add a feature to remind user about a family birthday, marriage anniversary, based on the information he has entered in his family tree.Version: 15.18.1

New dnaIt is a great feature.Version: 15.16

Useful for quick checks.Very convenient. A bit less flexibility with search options than with a browser, but still useful..Version: 9.12

Oh so portable! In the pocket for moments anywhere. To carry the family detail in my pocket in my iPhone and have that replicated on the iPad and computer, has simply become a given. The level of access is remarkable and I understand that the three devices are best suited for different capacities and uses. But to have the same detail in the three of them is superb. Wonderful work. I expend most of my data on this app. Does that it all? The access to photos, official records ... it never ends. Is that an obsession?.Version: 10.39

Ancestry DNAI have been searching my whole life to make a real life story for me and find the truth. Ancestry has done this for me. A little hard to navigate,oh well, I will prod along. Thank you Ancestry 🙏.Version: 15.13.1

Love itMy only request would be for another relationship status to identify partners, I'm finding there are many relationships in my family tree where the partners didn't actually marry, so "spouse" is inaccurate. At the moment I ignore this minor shortcoming. I use the app all the time, in conjunction with the website. It's really easy to use and follow. It's made exploring my family tree much easier and very enjoyable..Version: 9.21

Great app but some issuesI love this app; it’s addictive and interesting; allowing me to add to my family tree whenever and wherever it is convenient to me. There are a few issues however. Firstly, I tried to mention this in app but the feedback option refuses to send my message. This is not the first time this has happened; I’ve tried to raise these issues before but messages won’t send. The main issue is the connection to America; many of my family records are being connected to American records despite having no connection and nothing in their saved records to suggest a connection. This is frustrating when you are searching and only American records show up. The new map function shows this as multiple relatives are assigned to countries they never visited. My Great-Grandfather has his picture stuck on Argentina; a country he certainly never even visited. It’s a shame as this is annoying and I do love the app otherwise!.Version: 10.32

It must be a challenge to get this all in an appHave been using this app for a while and it is consistently improving. Its hard to get all the info from family trees into such a small screen but they do a pretty good job. Its not 100% intuitive yet but its getting better all the time. I think for what it is trying to achieve its pretty good, the bar on the bottom has ‘confusing’ icons and I think once they make more sense it will be easier to navigate..Version: 10.42

Good to be able to carry the family history around with me.Have lots of hints and enjoy checking them out. It’s great that I have the information with me on my iPad if I am somewhere and need to check out something..Version: 9.2

AddictionWarning - the Ancestry app is addictive. Any spare moment and I ignore Facebook and the rest, going straight in to the lives and times of my ancestors. It is incredibly easy to see my family tree, to move around within it and then dive into the life of any individual. Click on the hints for that person and you are soon zooming in to parish records, census returns, passenger lists and a huge wealth of other documents. It is easy to call up the actual image to check - is this my family? With just a moment to spare, I go straight in to the main hints section, where the strongest evidence is queued up waiting for my judgement. My ancestor? Yes, no, maybe. Click yes and a whole branch is added. Made a mistake and added the wrong spouse? It is easy to delete them and go back to check again from the original record. Hit a brick wall? Move on to another branch. Such fun, so many lives, so addictive!.Version: 10.30.1

Greenwood shown underExcellent Help for my tree This app is well set up, it seems to throw up lots of information. The more I use this app the more I find.Version: 10.38

Frustrating search featuresAncestry app is generally excellent - having access on my phone to my family tree is great. I’m able to show my mum my finds when I go to see her. The frustrating thing about the app - and the reason I can’t give it 5 stars - is the records search on the app. If trying to find a death record of a particular person for example, especially of a married female relative the app search defaults to their maiden name without a way of changing it. Also all searches results start with all US records even if the person has their country of residence as UK. The filter doesn’t allow me to filter out these records. Also when checking any record it would be amazing if you could still access the profile and family of that person just to confirm it is the right person you’re finding. Without these small frustrations it would be an amazing app..Version: 14.14
