Goodreads: Book Reviews for Negative User Reviews

Falls short more and moreI love the idea of this app and I’ve used it for years to track my books, but … there are a zillion features on the website that haven’t been put into the app and it can be very hard to find something on the app that’s on the website, even when it is there somewhere. In the last couple of months the app has started randomly closing itself, which is heart-breaking when you’ve nearly completed a long review and the whole thing disappears. App devs: Do better!.Version: 4.8.1

ENGLISH BOOKS IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE??Why are all these native English books I am searching are suddenly in a different language to English when I know that they are from English speaking authors? Like I am looking through my TBR list from authors and books I know are written in English and the title and blurb is suddenly in a different language to when I added the book??? Like I know I had previously read this blurb in English so WHY suddenly it is no longer English?? Feels like a glitch. Half of these books I am searching that I KNOW are from American authors are appearing in foreign languages I cannot read. Really not trying to be racist here lol… but English is the only language I can understand 😭 and when half these books I am trying to read blurbs of on goodreads are not in English it’s making it impossible for me to access my next read. Is this a glitch?? Please fix. Is there no way to change the default setting on goodreads to English..Version: 4.8.1

Love Goodreads but app is so buggy!I can’t even submit the bug issue on the app, because the app has a bug that means the OG just buffers when I try to submit the bug to contact us!! So poor 🙃 A few weeks ago I was writing a review, typed out a whole detailed piece and was just going to submit when the app crashed and I lost everything. Just now the same thing happened, I wrote out a super detailed review for the invisible life of Addie review. Took about10 minutes, was just writing the last line and then it crashed and again, lost the whole thing :( I’ll have to write them in my notes app first from now on but it is such a frustrating bug. It’s definitely an issue with the app not my phone as keeps happening. Please fix this! And/Or bring in a review draft functionality, so it auto saves reviews that you are typing. Then even if the app crashes you can pick up where you left off. This would be a really useful feature regardless so you could draft detailed reviews as you read the book rather than all at the end. I like the app otherwise, but it’s so buggy. My app is up to date..Version: 4.9.0

Would of rated this much higher previouslySomething seems to have been changed for the worse! I loved this app before but just updated my latest read to find that when you put the page your on it no longer gives the percentage of the book you have read 😢 it just says the page number which you obviously know since you just typed it in 🙄 totally thinking of getting rid of it now as that was the function that drove me on that made me read more! Now it doesn’t do it what’s the point in even entering the page your on since you already know that?! Whoever made this change is an idiot! As it’s hardly an improvement is it good reads!!!!!.Version: 3.21

?????So, I decided to wait on the update for a day or so, because I saw a couple recent reviews that were expressing issues. I figured I was happy with status quo, and was intending to take a wait and see posture. Didn’t even click the button, then change my mind, and click it to stop it. Went to open the app tonight, because I had finished a book, and it wants me to sign in. HOW COME? Fortunately I keep a notebook with such info, but in my mind, I shouldn’t have to do so until (perhaps) I update the app. Which, as I previously stated, I haven’t done yet. I’m not looking to borrow trouble, but I hope this isn’t an indication of a problem. Anyway, you folks are generally so good at responding, I thought I’d let you know, and hope you’ll get back to me, at which point, I’ll raise the 2 stars back up to 5 stars. You’ve done so in the past, and I commend you highly for your expediency and responsiveness. The 2 stars I’m giving you is to get your attention. Your app is wonderful, and honestly, is one of only 2 on my iPhone that has (till now) been basically trouble-free. I use it all the time, and find it easy to use/intuitive, timely and filled with excellent information, (true story). Thanks for a great product. FYI, I’m running the app on an iPhone 8 Plus, with IOS 13.1.2..Version: 3.20

Could be better…I’ve been using this app for nearly 2 years now and there are a couple of things I’d hoped that Goodreads would have adopted by now. There are a lot of new and up-and-coming apps that are going up against GR and providing better. Firstly, half star ratings; come on GR! It can’t be that hard if others can offer it. Secondly, I’d love to be able to analyse what I read in greater depth, genres, sub genres, emotions etc as well as being able to do digital highlights. Again, others already offer this and the longer GR drags their heels the more people will turn away. Please listen to what your users want and we all want this app to be the best it can be..Version: 3.33

Great basics, still needs to improve a lot!Great for searching for books and keeping track of separate reading lists for your own user, however there are some key functions the app is missing from web browser which don’t make it a very social app. ‘Recommendations’ need to transfer over to the app - not only a great tool but also makes the experience more engaging amongst your online friends. At current there’s no way to search for books using ‘general terms’ - you have to know the title/author/ISBN or hope it may come up when searching through good reads’ pre-set categories. I’m particularly interested in the Middle East, at current there’s no way for me to search for books containing and tagged to these terms in the app. Accessing groups and keeping track of threads/comments via the app was very clunky, to the point that I left a group. I completely rely on using the app, I very rarely use the web browser version, so it’s a shame to miss out on some key elements that could really make Good Reads a lot more social, rather than keeping it at a basic functional tool level..Version: 3.13

Good platform if you are in the USAI switched off their marketing emails because it’s all about USA-centric seasons and events. In New Zealand we are about to start summer and a hot weather Christmas but Goodreads refers to cosy Thanksgiving and winter Christmas reading lists. It’s jarring. I’d love it if the Goodreads staff realised there’s a whole other world outside their continent..Version: 4.10.0

This app keeps crashing, how are there good reviews?App keeps crashing.Version: 4.12.1

MisunderstoodWhen I downloaded this app. I thought it was book reading app. But its a book recommendation and reviewing app. You can find the book your reading, or wanting to. You can put what book’s page your up to and all. So if you forget what page your on. You can find that book and add the page. Im quite disappointed. Because all the book apps you can read, than listen to apps cost money. Anyone recommend a free one 🤷‍♀️.Version: 3.21

Can’t add friends and boring profilesMy main complaint is the fact that it’s impossible to add your friends on this app! There’s so many ways that it looks like you can add them and then you try and it doesn’t work. You can’t add them through the “invite” option like you’d think. You can’t add them through sending your profile. It’s impossible. I also found that I can’t even add them through the friend search bar. The profiles are also… boring. I can barely navigate mine and honestly they’re nothing special. At the very least I’d like a better layout for the bookshelves. I hate that a few books show up and then if I really want to see anything I have to type the “see all bookshelves” button. The feed layout is also not great. Mostly ads and not much of my friends reviews or what they’ve added to their bookshelves. I got the app so I could compare with my friends and see what they’re reading and the algorithm of this app means 1/3 of what I see are my friends and the other 2/3 is just recommendations and ads. Lastly, I know this isn’t the app’s fault but man people on goodreads are critics! It seems impossible for books to have 4 stars as everyone is honestly so brutal with their reviews. Failing to see the good things and only highlighting the bad. Wish that there was a nicer community on goodreads. People are also super rude in comments on reviews as well, goodreads needs to do better at keeping the bullying to a minimum..Version: 4.8.0

Can’t like or make reviewsNo matter how many times I close the app or log out then back in it still says that the servers are overloaded despite the fact I can see other people making reviews..Version: 4.14.1

Barcode scanner needs improvementIt has to be the worst barcode scanner I’ve used. It takes a loooooong time to scan and most of the time I have to manually search the title. Scanning by covers just doesn’t work. I tried on all my library and only a handful were recognized (not found, recognized!). I’m using an iPhone 11 Pro, so it can’t be a problem with the quality of my camera..Version: 3.22.1

Book app that can’t sort books!Try to add another version of the book you’re reading and it shows the same one and you’re reading it again, there’s more than 10,000 versions of a particular shakespeare play, the multiple IBSN numbers will show multiple versions, but if you select another version, it always shows the same one you’ve read before, how very clumsy for an app thats been around for years! You should see the workaround suggested to solve it and the same help page with two instructions that does not relate to the app at all. I’ve just read people trying sort this for over 8 years and still cant just select a book and add it, ( rate it, review it, then review another version, add it! Oh no it doesn’t)..Version: 4.1

Good but needs improvementI really like being able to keep track of and rate what I’m reading and it’s also nice to see what books my friends are currently reading. However, it can be REALLY slow to load my feed and sometimes I’ll just straight up get an error message. Another issue is that the UI can be really awful sometimes- if someone comments on your status you don’t even get a notification for it and there’s no way to reply to their comment. Some features such as messaging and groups are really hard to find in the UI too..Version: 3.25

Great but has issues!I’ve used Goodreads for years, I love the awards, being able to see what people are reading, tracking my own reading habits and being inspired. However, it’s buggy as heck. I have lost count of the amount of times I’ve been writing an absolute FIRE review then the app closes itself and I love my review. That’s infuriating. Then there’s the fact it focuses on books read, you can’t measure pages. There’s also no stats so I can’t say ‘oo 60% of my reading was fantasy!’ Or ‘I read so much of this author maybe I’ll go read their back catalogue!’. It also bugs me that you can’t half star. You either have to round up or round down. I also think people should have to log dates read before reading. The amount of ratings skewed by people who’ve never said they’ve read it is annoying (either because they like or loathe the author). Anyway, it’s pretty good except for its flaws. But there are other apps out there. The only thing keeping me on good reads is the awards, but it needs to fix its probs to keep it that way..Version: 4.12.1

This app feels archaicNeeds a major facelift. So glitchy. It feels like it hasn’t been updated since 2015..Version: 4.12.1

Stop redirecting me from websiteEditing my original review but for some reason it doesn’t keep the text. I love this app but one REALLY frustrating thing is that whenever I try to open the goodreads website in safari it automatically takes me to the app. If I wanted to open the app I would open it. The website has some content that the app doesn’t (stats, questions from community about books) and it seems you’re making it too difficult to access this content. Either make everything accessible on the app or stop redirecting me when I try to access in browser. I’m not stupid I know how to access an app, please let me decide for myself....Version: 3.10

Needs updatingThe interface is very outdated, the app needs a modern update. Searching for a book is difficult, and the book recommendations are usually irrelevant and outdated. Personal opinion only, I think Goodreads should allow half-stars in the ratings. Need to give popular book reviewers more of a platform on here for people to follow. Need to be able to search within the book editions (there are more editions of War and Peace than pages in the book), need to be able to search more specifically, e.g., by the publisher. Looking in the book details, it shows the date that edition was published - it should show the year it was actually originally published. I only use this to record books I’ve read, when I could be getting so much more out of this app. I would happily move to another app, even with a (small) cost, with a nicer interface and smoother features (if I can transfer my Goodreads data to it)..Version: 3.23.1

I love Good Reads but...This app is terrible. Slow, laggy, can only do half the amount of things the website can, doing simple things is a huge mission. I think it could be more user friendly and more like the website..Version: 3.9.6

UghApp always crashes and where the heck are half star ratings guys 😭😭.Version: 4.12.1

Good app with potentialI absolutely love the idea of Goodreads. It’s just slightly lacking. The social aspect of it needs work. I love being connected with friends who read, but I don’t understand how the friends/following component actually works. Navigating profiles is confusing. I do think it’s great reading ‘readers’ reviews rather than critics. The app often crashes when trying to look at lists or go into others’ profiles. I think the rating system could do with improvement. Allow half stars of make ratings out of 10. That way more accurate ratings will be possible. It’s such fine margins when reviewing a book. I love the progress function on books. Such a satisfying tool to keep your motivation for reading. I would absolutely love a recommended books section for books you have rated highly.Version: 4.12.1

Glitches constantlyI just updated the app yesterday and it’s glitching and crashing more than it was before the update. I love the concept of the app/website but it doesn’t work the majority of the time I try to use it and it’s becoming so annoying I’m seriously debating switching to another app to track my reading..Version: 4.12.1

Reduced Rating - not enough flexibility/featuresWish there was an easy way to provide feedback to the developers. I have LOVED this app for years, but it hasn’t changed much. I wish they allowed for you to track books separately if you read them vs listened on audio. It would also be good if they allowed separate ratings for the book alone vs the book on audio. Would be nice to allow monthly reading challenges, not just yearly challenges. And it would be great if they offered some fun functions like i’m seeing from friends who use other apps. They can create fun visual representations for which and how many books they read each month and then share that in social media. So I still love the app, I just wish it allowed for some more creative uses for those of us who are interested (or just create a function so that it can synch easily with one of those other apps then the goodreads purists will be happy and people like me who want to be able to do a little more without changing apps)..Version: 4.5.0

Good-ishA nice app for finding books and ratings, if it didn’t quit every other time it was opened. I’ve been writing a review and it’ll just quit and close for no reason. If you have patience you can find what your looking for but the loading is painful..Version: 4.12.1

Nice for reviews but.....The app often just shuts down the moment I open a review on the “more...” button. Even after lots of updates to the app. Very frustrating as I then have to start from scratch. This would be kind of ok if the app was consistent in its search and selecting process, but opening reviews for a book depends entirely on whether one taps the cover or the writing next to it in the list. Or something. I haven’t even worked it out yet as the interface is so inconsistent..Version: 3.16

I love the app except it being extremely underdevelopedI love goodreads! I use it everyday at the least but there seems to always been problems with it. I always get errors popping up or saying the capacity is full. The website sometimes doesn’t work either. It would also be good to see quarter and half stars. For example, 4.25, 4.5, 4.75 and so on. Another thing to add would be being able to edit reviews without updating to the profile. Or being able to have an “Owned” shelf automatically and having a button to press say when I go out and buy a new book. I think this would be heaps efficient and a subject a lot of people would use. The look of goodreads is also quite outdated. From what I’ve heard and seen it hasn’t changed much over the years and I think the app and website are both ready for a fresh look. Maybe instead of yellow having a white and fresh looking colours would make the app appear more inviting and modern. I know all if not, then most good reads users have also identified these problems. Other than a few of those problems/fixes, goodreads has been pretty good..Version: 4.5.0

Little tricky to navigate. It’s telling me I read the book. Twice. But that’s not true and won’t let me edit it.Version: 4.12.1

Slow and glitches, keeps crashingKeeps crashing, slow, and just not loading. Please fix this..Version: 4.12.1

Great for finding books but very glitchyI really love this app and i have found some great books which i otherwise would not have had it not been for the recommendations at the end of the page for each book. Mostly id find books in lists. Like if the book i liked was in that list Id look at other books there. Recently however whenever i go to the bottom of the info page (profile page) or whaever of each book it sometimes doesn’t show the lists even though i know that i found that book from a list. Also wheneever i try to load the lists from the explore option it keeps saying load error One other thing i noticed was that sometimes i see that beneaths the books i have in my TBR there’s a preview option but someother time when i open the app its not there. There are a lot more little glitches here and there but the issue with the lists is my biggest concern because that was how i found most of the books i love. I can live with the rest.Version: 3.35

Glitchy and needs big updatesI like the premise behind the app, but the app itself needs a TON of work. It crashes constantly. Especially when you navigate to the Books tab. When I do the barcode search, it shows my book but then it goes away and immediately comes up with 3 different foreign school looking books and asks me if it’s one of those. Well…it was my book until you overrode it with three strange ones, and why are they always the same 3 books? So you have to just type the title or author anyway. Then that takes you to the search for title…the author line is too close to the title line, so half the time I hit the authors name instead of the book title, which then takes me to every book by that author. That’s not what I want when I am just adding a book to my list. Also, for the Challenges, there needs to be an option to add the book to the challenge, instead of being forced to make the status “reading” and then changing it to “read”. Apps are meant to be quick and easy, not cumbersome..Version: 4.8.1

Constantly glitching! This app is constantly glitching! Won’t let me add new bookshelves, won’t let me do almost anything. Also has had an error message upon startup (almost every time) that the app is “over capacity”. I thought this was a super well-established app run by/affiliated with big name co’s...?? How can it offer such a poor user experience? Hugely disappointing..Version: 3.26.1

Needs so much moreThis app is ok. Needs a lot of refinement. The web version is great but Goodreads really needs to get with 2021 and invest more in their app as most users are on their phones not their PCs. Giveaways should be on the app. Lists should be better sorted or at least the user has the ability to sort etc. So much potential but stuck in the dark ages of the beginning of technology.Version: 3.29

No graphs. No dark modeThis app never changes. StoryGraph is much better. Considering its Amazon I would think they’d spend a few dollars to make it really cool..Version: 4.12.1

DisappointingI want to give this app more than 2 stars. I use it almost every day and it is a fantastic way to log my reading progress and to check potential reads. However. And this is a big one. The app is constantly crashing, and particularly when I am in the middle of writing reviews. The amount of times that I have had to go back and rewrite most of a long review…well it is far too many. This is beyond irritating and a massive waste of my time. Some of my saved reviews are much shorter than I originally intended due to having to rewrite them sometimes three times. It’s just not good enough. I would rather pay for an app that works and is reliable than have an app that has a major issue like this. It would be great if this could be fixed and I could give this app a four or five star review like it deserves. Well five stars would be if I could give half star reviews. Like 3.5 etc. not all books fit easily in a 1-5 star box. Anyway I’m now moving on, and you can probably tell from this review why I get so annoyed when my other reviews are disappeared into an abyss..Version: 4.11.0

Great but could be sooo much betterI’ve used goodreads for a few years and I love it, especially never losing track of books that I want to read, but I really wish they would change just a few things that would make it even better. I’ve hd the sMe recommendations for years, some are books I would never reD and some are books I read before goodreads existed and I’d love to be able to move them out of recommendations so it leaves space for new ideas. I’d also love it if there was a simple way to empty out or split up my read list into the years I read them or by author or even into catgories, it would ssve me trawling through a massive list to see if I’ve already read a book or not. Please please improve the app, don’t mind seeing adverts if required to cover the cost of improvements..Version: 3.13

Can’t Log In for first useDownloaded the app for the first time and it said my password wasn’t good. So I tried a different option and it said an account was already created. So then I try log in and it says unexpected error occurred. Servers could be overloaded. Close and reopen, try again. Or try later. I tried “forgot my password” and changed it again. And still get the same error now. I waited 2 days. Same error. I tried redownloading the app. Same error. I can’t even get into the app so it sucks..Version: 4.4.1

Anxiety WarningI got the app because I wanted to read and review books with friends. Most of my time I feel was wasted searching through books to add to my list of read, want to read, and currently reading. Instead of enjoying the books I was already reading I constantly would look at the lowest reviews to see what was wrong with them without giving them a chance. Turns out I had this less than twelve hours. Really good for reading book summaries but not connecting with other people. Shared one of my favorite books with my friends and later read her review on it (her answer to my face and online were different). She was a good book reviewer but felt overly critical. Other friend comments saying “You did not hesitate to bring this book down!!” (Whom I also knew). I read for fun not for anxiety. The moral of the story is this is a good place for reading summaries and reviewing. Not for fun reading and enjoying life. Ended up just wasting my afternoon and made me feel crappy. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Nothing wrong with the software or idea just not for me. I’m gonna keep my account but I do not want to waste more of my precious time, feelings, and energy on this app..Version: 4.11.0

So much potential!I recommend every reader to get this app to track books they are interested in and books they have read. I love the yearly goal and the statistics you get at the end of the year. Sadly though the interface for this app just isn't keeping up with other apps. It can lag, feels clunky and even aesthetically appears as apps from many years ago. It really needs a refresh and a more modern feel! I'll continue to recommend to others but I hope it gets some new updates to entice users to keep using or start using the app!.Version: 4.12.0

So slooooooooow, this app needs some TLCI use GoodReads to hunt down new books to read but have to be super patient waiting for the pages to load!! Pages time out frequently. The recommendations are hopeless, they don’t seem to relate to my current reading but to stuff I was into 5 years ago. So now I look at other readers who like my current book and scroll through their shelves to see what they have been reading. Isn’t that what the recommendations function should be doing? Also when you mark a book as read it doesn’t allow you to write a review at the same time! The ap needs a serious investment in upgrading or it will start to leak users..Version: 3.15.1

This app needs some development work. This app is NOT user friendly. The way the graphics work (like pressing buttons and opening new menus) is laggy, and how long it takes certain pages to load makes it hard to use. It also doesn’t have consistent functionality across the app for things like entering the dates you read books and adding/removing books from your shelves. The badge notifications also don’t always go away all the time after I open the app to read a notification. The one thing that also drives me crazy is when apps reload when you navigate away from them and then back to them. I was writing a review and was completely done and about to save it when I got a phone call. I went back to the app after the phone call ended, and the app reloaded, which deleted my entire review. I had to go back and write the entire thing again, which was extremely annoying. I like the convenience of this app, and I think it has a lot of great features. I just think the development side could use some work..Version: 3.33.1

CrashingCrashes almost every time I open it these days. What’s wrong?.Version: 4.12.1

Settings ignored - tonnes of emails- DELETED APPI like the concept of this app (even the website)...I wrote a few reviews even. I edited my account settings for privacy and that is when I noticed it tracked my location and override settings. I would change various things to ‘only me’ and noticed it ignored that and defaults to ‘friends only’ or even ‘public’. I was also receiving multiple emails daily...some encouraging me to join their ‘adult only site’. Potential of this site for sharing book reviews BUT NOPE...dodgy as they come. Glad at least I could delete my account...at least I hope it deleted??? NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL..Version: 3.29

Clunky but there’s nothing better out thereI’ve been using the goodreads app for over a year now, and am recently starting to appreciate what the app can offer. I like that you can see what your friends are reading and want to read on your feed, and I like that when you look at a new book it shows what your friends think of this book, if they’ve read it or want to read it. The thing that desperately needs some attention from the developers is the search function. The search function is very clunky. Takes ages to load suggested titles when I’m typing in the search bar, and often suggests the wrong books until I’ve typed out the whole title. Please fix..Version: 3.21

Book arrangement problemAlthough this app is good for looking at discovering books, books put on shelves can be difficult arrange in a sensible order, despite the numerous categories available. This makes looking for books (especially books in a series) hard when there is a simple solution - an option to manually arrange the books on a shelf or some way of putting, if a books says, for example, (The Mortal Instruments book #1) above the #2. I hope this is introduced as a future update, as would be only a small addition to an already good app..Version: 3.17.1

Constant errors and crashConstant has “unknown error” when trying to rate a book. Instructs to quit or logout/login. Neither works. Clearly this app hasn’t been maintained or updated in years..Version: 4.11.0

Ad-riddled and slowAds are loaded after a pause of several seconds and they randomly cover up expected user interface elements. If your ad is going to cover up the stars ratings 3 seconds after the page shows itself, load the ad first so my expectations aren’t rudely subverted by malvertising techniques. Fraudulently inflating ad click rates is probably against the App Store TOS too..Version: 3.21

PLEASD ADD!!I LOVE goodreads, don’t get me wrong. I have been using it for around 2 years now and it has been wonderful, however it is missing something many book lovers crave. STATS! Graphs!! There is a way to access some graphs, however there is some major problems with those. Primarily being it is hard to find and only on computer versions of the app, so mobile users can not find it (at least I have not been able to on my phone). Second problem is with the graphs themselves, there is no way to look at a specific month or year which can be very annoying when there is an outlier or large scale that ruins most of the data since the graph is zoomed out to much (found this to be true especially with the dates published section). Also Goodreads is missing graphs like what genres we read the most or the pace of books. I find a lot of readers have been switching to Storygraph, which does have all those graphs, however the app is annoying in the areas that goodreads excels at and ultimately isn’t worth it for me. However the graphs are worth it for a lot of people, so Goodreads PLEASE add a bigger stats emphasis!.Version: 3.35

Crashes too much!I adore Goodreads as a service but I have taken to using only the computer version to do reviews because I have had the app crash so many times in the middle of writing reviews and lost all of my work that it's just not worth it..Version: 4.12.1

This is a privacy SCAM!As I sit here listening to 60 Minutes report on the abuse of private data by online social media and others. In the US we have almost zero privacy. While Europeans have total control over their own data. This app might have been good. First the forced noting a rating for at least 20 books before they will give you personal recommendations. The books are thrown on the screen with no way to tell if a member has read a book or not. Now I see where the huge numbers of people who like a book are from. It’s a time consuming process and at the end, with 60 Minutes warnings in my ear, they try to force you to allow them to share your ratings with Facebook. Facebook of all the worst sites to share any info! When I declined, the app stopped until I looked at my contacts which they also want access to. THIS IS THE WORST INVASION OF PRIVACY IVE EVER SEEN. I said no to the first batch of contacts they wanted to send ads to. What horrible people these folks are. So now I am stuck with all that work and nothing more to do with the app. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ACCESS TO YOUR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT OR YOUR CONTACTS. THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW WHAT THIS SNEAKY APP WILL DO WITH IT. BUT YOU SHOULD PICTURE A TIME WHEN YOU APPLY FOT A JOB AND THE POTENTIAL EMPLOYER DISLIKES YOUR BOOKS READ! Be careful and stay away from this intrusive app..Version: 3.12

Love the website, hate the appI love Goodreads, and use it on my laptop all of the time! However, the app is pretty terrible. It always crashes and never loads properly. The banners on the top of the home page (such as "Top Books of May" or "Book Club Picks") disappear after I click on them once, so I can only click on them if I'm ready to actually look through them very very carefully. Additionally, while it will tell me if I have a notification, it won't show me what that notification is, and the notification icon won't disappear until I view it on my laptop. Finally, it is very slow to load, far slower than other apps do on my phone, and far slower than Goodreads loads on my laptop, so I'm fairly sure it's specific to this app. I love Goodreads, but this app needs work. However, I do want to say there are some great features on the app that I do not get on my computer. Mostly, I am able to sort my lists through more criteria than I can on my phone, such as by "has the cover," "number of pages," and "number of ratings." This is very convenient, and I'm glad it's on the app!.Version: 4.7.0

Update 2018The new update is display the books I’ve read and want to read incorrectly. If not for that I would rate the app 4 stars.Version: 3.9.3

I used to like this app but...I used to love the GoodReads app but then one day my app and website account and page stopped working unfortunately due to some technical glitch on their end. Contacted support, got put on a ticket support request, so many days have passed and they still have not had it fixed. When I follow up I get a repeated generic response from an employee named Wendy who says she can do nothing to help at the moment, has no update for me and has put me on a ticket request. So from this experience I am so turned off that I just decided to never use GoodReads again....Version: 4.4.1

Love it but I’ve got some ideasDon’t get me wrong this app is helpful and I use it all the times but it can be pretty clunky sometimes The featured booklists on your page are kinda tricky to find again and I wish there was a whole tab for them with like recently viewed lists and recommendations and things like that because when you accidentally leave an amazing list and can’t find it it’s the worst. The biggest issue I have is it’s not the most new user friendly. I got this app and had so many books and shelves to create for my previous reads but it takes five clicks to add a book to a shelf. When I make a shelf it’s because I realize I have lots of books similar and so scrolling through my reads and clicking five times for each is not fun at all and takes all day. I wish there was a select tool so you could add multiple books to a shelf at a time this would probably make this review five stars. Another little issue I have (and maybe I just can’t figure it out) is Re reading. If I read a book multiple times why can’t I count both towards my reading challenge? It won’t be an accurate page count if it turns out that was just the one of the times I read the book that year. I feel like you should have multiple reading dates on your book info so it isn’t just showing the last time you read it. If this is a feature and I just haven’t found it then I apologize. Definitely needs a refresh I just looked at version history and it’s mostly bug fixes! This app NEEDS something new.Version: 4.8.1

Glitch festI thought this would be a super fun app to keep track of my reading. But it glitches uncontrollably and it won’t let me contact the help desk. I tried reaching out through the app but every time I tried to submit the app would crash and stop working. I thought it was my internet so I tried on data and that also wouldn’t work..Version: 4.12.1

Great for keeping trackGoodreads is a great app for keeping track of what you’ve read. BUT, the reviews are inaccurate. If someone doesn’t like a certain author, they gather their “squad” and give it a bunch of one star reviews and start bashing the book before it’s even released TO ANYONE, Including Beta readers or Bloggers. I’ve been in the book world for 6 years and have seen this time and time again. On the flip side, the same can be said for diluted books theat have never been out of the authors hands with 5 star reviews and raving and bragging how great the book is (they never read) Don’t get me wrong, there are some books that are that bad, however, how can they be judged before anyone has laid eyes on them 🤷🏻‍♀️ IF YOU WANT AN APP TO KEEP UP WITH WHAT YOU HAVE READ OR WANT TO READ OR HAVE READ with nifty little shelves, this is the app for YOU. If you aren’t interested in grown ups acting like child, stalking, false reviews and all the other BS that comes with it, I wouldn’t waste my time OR you can just ignore it like I do 🖤 I mostly just keep my shelves on my Paperwhite now but when it asked me to review it, how could I not share my honest opinion.Version: 3.16

Constant glitchesThis app is a mess. Half the time the pages won’t load. The search feature is particularly bad. Sometimes when you search for a book title it will pop up, then disappear. Sometimes it won’t pop up at all, even if the book and author are in the system. This app needs a major overhaul..Version: 3.23.1

I like good reads, I don’t like the appVery buggy app. I like it bit it crashes all the time and sometimes when I try to mark that I’ve read a book it just sits there for 5 mins and drains half my batte try before finally crashing. As I say I like the concept and function and like to use it..Version: 4.8.1

Load ErrorJust encountered an error that wont resolve: A closure was called with an invalid calling convention, probably (nil, nil).Version: 4.4.1

Rogue LawyerThe first 75% of the book read like a collection of war stories. Suspense finally built near the end..Version: 3.9.2

App crashCrashes in the middle of writing a review..Version: 4.8.0

Love hate relationshipI’ve used this app for years - I love it and really on it when it comes to keeping track of the best books I’ve read and want to read. I’ve not found another like it. However, recently it has been shutting down every time I open it and it is simply unusable. I would love to see it up and running smoothly. Perhaps also with new features that improved its user interface. A more efficient search system, simpler and catchier way to record annual reads, and more effective suggestions for future reads.Version: 4.8.1

I wanted to love this appUnfortunately, as with most forms of social media, bullies hide behind the anonymity of a keyboard and think it’s okay to say whatever mean and nasty things they want to say about a book, an author or even readers and the app owners do nothing to discourage it. Everyone’s taste in books is different. If you read something you don’t care for, write a review and explain why, or better yet, don’t waste your time reading a book you don’t like. If you must write a review, write constructively. It serves no purpose to belittle other readers for their taste in books. You lose credibility when you attack readers instead of constructively explaining any issues you have with the subject, plot, characters etc. I listened to an audio book that I really enjoyed. Compared to many of the books I’ve recently read this was a breath of fresh air. I went on Goodreads thinking I might find fellow readers who enjoyed it only to find this app filled with as much hate and bullying as twitter and other social media. I’m very disappointed and have deleted the app. People ruin most good concepts. This is nothing but reality television in app form. Treat people with kindness. Don’t spread hate..Version: 3.10

Good but could use some improvementsOverall, I think this is a decent app for tracking your reading progress (though by no means the only one in its category). The process of finding a book, adding it to your shelf, tracking its progress, and leaving a review is simple and easy. It’s when you spend a little more time on it that I think it could use improvement. I’ve included my complaints/suggestions below in order from most to least important. 1.)the thing that I find most annoying about this app is that when I go to edit down my want-to-read shelf, it constantly refreshes the page even if I’m not actually removing a book from it. Like I’ll click a book just to remind myself what it’s about, and when I click to go back to the shelf, it will refresh the page and I’ll have to scroll back down to where I was. It’s both annoying and inefficient to constantly have to be scrolling down the shelf to find my place (especially because I have A LOT 2.) shelf won’t load beyond a certain point if you have a lot of books 3.) if I’ve DNFd a book, there’s no option but to add it to my read shelf, even if I add it to my separate DNF shelf 4.) adding a book to want to read shelf as part of a giveaway.Version: 3.35

Love your work, but-This interface is terrible. Your platform whether mobile or desktop is relatively straightforward for visitors to use and really difficult for members. Nothing is where you’d intuitively expect it to be and it’s so hard to figure out how to do what you want to. Time for a cms update or something?.Version: 3.10

Please make this app functional…Don’t get me wrong, I love Goodreads… But God this app is so slow… Works half of the time. Please fix this..Version: 4.12.1

Needs a few tweeksI love this app for lots of reasons. It helps me keep track of things I’ve read or want to read really easily. It would be great if you could write private notes within your timeline for a book or even at the end, without needing to make a public review. It would be good to be able to make a note or tick if you’ve read/listened to a book via audible. As I listen to a number of books that way and don’t feel like that can be properly reflected..Version: 4.4.1

Great content, dated UI, challenging UXI love goodreads and find the app a slightly easier experience than the web platform, but it still feels dated and clunky to me. I had a really hard time learning how to get around this app, and being a millennial who works for a software startup, that isn’t usually the case for me. In particular, finding other people on this app is horrendous. But the content is great so I’ll keep coming back..Version: 3.28

So bad it almost seems intentionalTerrible app. Ugly, clunky, offers almost nothing useful. Looks like someone created it 15 years ago then forgot about it. And yet Goodreads itself is incredibly popular. I’m mystified..Version: 3.31

Great Community, Crap InterfaceThe heart for this app is definitely there. Love being able to keep track of books i’ve read, plan on reading, or friends are currently reading. That being said, GR is lucky they have a monopoly in the book-review-app game. The mobile interface is utter crap. Want to add a cool list to your profile to refer to? Have to do it on the computer. Navigating the different subsections of the app? Good luck. The friend/follower system doesn’t truly make sense, and I don’t even know where to begin with the groups feature. When you do too much (i.e. go between profile and browse maybe once) it crashes. When you add a new book to your read pile it crashes. And then doesn’t even add it to the pile. Want your number of books for the year to increase once you’ve, you know, read the book?? Well maybe stop being so greedy and asking for the app to do what it said it would do. TL;DR I love the concept, I love the community, but it’s too cluttered and dysfunctional for mobile, and barely any better for the computer..Version: 4.11.0

It’s OKThe recommendation system needs some work, as it mostly recommends foreign language books, and the app offers no way for you to prevent them from being recommended. If you log onto the web site you can mark them to indicate your not interested, but you can’t do this on the app. The Algorithm used to make recommendations seems loose, it seems it just shows the books of other readers with similar shelves ????. Has potential, but online it looks like this has been a problem for years (if you read forums).Version: 3.9.4

Totally buggyApp keep crashing, and the odd time it doesn’t completely crash I can’t do ANYTHING except rate book (1-5 stars) or click ‘want to read’… but there are literally no other buttons, back/close/next/skip, nothing, so it’s not even like I can look at the list of books I’ve rated. Totally unusable and frustrating that I couldn’t get it working the entire last week leading into the new year. (And yes, I have updated my phone software, have enough space, have deleted it and redownloaded and restarted my iPhone.).Version: 4.12.1

Something is wrong with the “add/edit dates read” featureAnytime I read a book that I’ve read before, the activity history doesn’t reflect the new dates. It will list the first time I read the book and the second time I read the book, but it will continue to say “the last read on” date is the first time I read it. When you click “add/edit dates read” it lists both sets of dates read, but when i click on “see all activity on this book” and then click “edit review” it only lists the first date read and nothing else. Even when I try to edit that date it won’t reflect the change. Even when I’ve deleted the entry of the original dates just to test it out, it still only lists the original dates in the “edit review” section and on the main page for the book for the “last date read”. This has happened to me on multiple books and it just doesn’t make any sense that the section for the “add/edit dates read” doesn’t sync up with the “see all your activity on this book”. It drives me a little bit insane honestly..Version: 3.24

Y’all need to update and revamp this so badLove the community aspect of it. But def needs a good updating and revamping. Give us half star ratings and do some bug fixes so the notifications clear the first time; not after opening closing a million times. It’s so annoying 😑.Version: 3.30

Great to catalog but missing a trick with quotesI love this app for cataloging my reads and digitalising my bookshelf. However- and it’s a big one- there just isn’t an obvious or easy way to keep a log of quotes from books, which is my main reason for cataloging to be honest. Have finally just discovered that if you log onto the desktop site then there is a quotes ‘community’ but this is nowhere as intuitive as it could be- and is totally missing from the app! Needs a bit of an overhaul to bring this app inline with some other similar apps which seem to be catching up with Goodreads fast..Version: 4.2.0

Crashes constantlyI’ve had this app for several years. It’s great for keeping track of the books I want to read and the ones I have read. The limited number of features is annoying, like not being able to sort your “Want to Read” list by genre, which would be very helpful. Also, this app crashes or fails to load properly more than any other app on my phone… ever. Extremely annoying..Version: 4.12.1

Good community, needs improvement on interfaceI enjoy Goodreads. The community, the values of reading it hold high. The usability of the review system for me is infuriating though. Every now and then I’ll think ‘why not write a review’, I go ahead and it automatically closes halfway through writing a heartfelt comment. Often a paragraph in. Then I remember why I don’t usually bother. This has happened for a long time now and despite upgrades, deleting and reinstalling the app. I’ll just shrug and continue to use it as a tally of books read through the year and forget about the glitch until I go to write another review and remember again.Version: 4.12.0

Past Challenges Info Changed RetroactivelyI've always re-read my favorite books, not only because they're like old friends, but also to aid with anxiety. This challenge is simply a way for me to keep track of what I read each year, not to impress people with my literary prowess. But I digress... In previous years, there was not a good way to count books that you'd re-read unless you changed the dates, making it look like a new book. Now that we can put dates in for re-reads, and the app is showing past challenges, it's only counting the last time I read the book, which has changed the results of my past challenges retroactively. The update has applied new rules to periods in which those rules did not exist. In order for it to display the correct information -correct as of the year it occurred- I'll have to go in and add dates to all the books I have re-read since the actual re-read feature was implemented. Since we're talking 3 years and hundreds of books, this is going to be a huge pain in the neck. I'm not a happy girl..Version: 3.20

Please add more flexibility with rating books!I love Goodreads. I’ve installed other book tracking apps but nothing has made me want to switch. Obviously, everyone is saying it, the app would be better if it allowed decimal star ratings (e.g. 4.5). At the minute, I just write “rating: 3.5/5” at the top of my reviews if my rating isn’t a solid number. No big deal, but it’d be nice to show that decimal in star form. The only thing that truly bothers me about the Goodreads mobile app is the camera scanner. I used to be able to scan the barcode and the book would pop up almost immediately. I can’t get my app to scan a barcode to save my life now. I can scan the covers fine, but I prefer doing it via the barcode because then Goodreads will make sure the format I’m reading (paperback or hardcover) is represented correctly too. Please fix your barcode scanner Goodreads!!.Version: 4.12.1

Organizing books and lists - why so hard?!The app is infuriating to use. It’s not very intuitive and is very frustrating to use when trying to create lists and add books to a shelf from your already list pile. Why is there not an option to select several books to move onto a shelf?! How old is this app? Time for an update!.Version: 3.23.1

Great, but..Great for searching and tracking my books, just minor issues make it a pain to use. Aside from lagging etc, one problem is that publication dates can be completely wrong for older books particularly. Idk if this is because they record the rerelease dates or what but it means idk when books have actually come out and have to look it up. Obviously not a big deal, just something that I would’ve thought I could take for granted with an app about books. Also, like other reviewers I’d like some different, more accessible ways to categorise books. Thanks!.Version: 3.25.1

Don’t waste your timeI’ve used Good Reads for the past year now. I have two shelves only. Want to Read and Read. When I first started adding books to both lists, I noticed the count wasn’t accurate. I tossed it up to just a bug that would fix itself. Over the last year, every time I finished a book I added it from the want to read list to the read list. My Read count would somehow then go down and want to read count would go up. I left this alone this past year because I’ve had so many bug issues with this app but I hate change so I didn’t want to start over on a new app. Until now that I’ve just had enough. Every time I go to my lists in general the app takes forever just to load the two lists. Then forever to load each one when I click on one. I finally investigated the missing books on my read list since the total I’ve read keeps going down and I keep physical copies of the books I read and they’re just gone from my list. When I search the book it shows I’ve read it but it’s not on my list. I did a google search and apparently this has been a known issue others have experienced for YEARS. Needless to say don’t waste your time. Find a better app and start there. I could go on about the many other issues but this is my biggest one..Version: 4.12.1

Needs improvementI absolutely love this app and use it regularly to keep track of the books I’ve already read, and also, to discover new books! I like the fact I can categorise books in to shelves, set myself a reading challenge, and also, amend the dates of the books I’ve read, as I go along. However, the app can be glitchy and it can be incredibly slow at times; it’s slow to add books on to my current reading challenge, and overall, functionally slow! When adding books to the “read” shelf, certain books are showing up “read twice”. I’ve tried amending the “dates read” but this only confirms that I have indeed read them only once. An update is needed to fix these glitches, then it’d be a solid five stars..Version: 3.28

Solid Concept, Needs Technical RefreshGoodreads offers a fantastic platform for book lovers, with a broad array of titles and an intuitive book-discovery algorithm. I've always been able to find the books I want, and I appreciate the app's knack for suggesting new reads that align with my tastes. This particular feature stands out and should definitely be expanded upon. However, the overall execution of the app is subpar. It suffers from an outdated interface that could greatly benefit from a modern revamp. The current aesthetic feels tired and detracts from the otherwise useful features of the app. Furthermore, Goodreads is plagued by bugs that often cause features to malfunction. This not only hinders the overall user experience but also undermines the reliability of the app. In summary, while Goodreads excels in concept and has a commendable book-discovery algorithm, it's in dire need of a technical and visual overhaul. Addressing these issues could significantly enhance the user experience, making Goodreads the top-tier book app it has the potential to be..Version: 4.8.0

Feels like a desktop website from 2005If I was reviewing the ability to interface with the Goodreads database this would get more stars but I’m reviewing an app, a remarkably bad one. It’s slow loading bookshelves and inelegant navigation make it incredibly annoying to use. God forbid you’d want to scroll down your “want-to-read” shelf, it will take you minutes of loading 10 books, then 10 more. It needs a serious overhall in its navigation, loading time and just general ease of use. I don’t think anything short of a groundup redevelopment would do..Version: 3.26

Someone fix this monstrosityI’ve literally reached out to customer support before to beg for them to make this app better. It’s truly horrendous. The glitchiness, the friend/following feature making no sense, the feed being horrible, your own feed/about being awful… like the whole app needs an overhaul and AMAZON HAS THE MONEY. Jeffy B I am on my knees asking you to hire app developers who understand social media, love books and can put together a pleasing NON BEIGE aesthetic for this god forsaken app. Please Jeffy B!!.Version: 4.12.1

App not workingWas prompted to run the update, so I did. The app keeps saying I still need to update, but the App Store says it’s up to date. Now I can’t search for books and the update pop up keeps showing. Not much use if I can’t record what I’m reading..Version: 4.12.1

Awful UI and loses my reviews all the time.Terrible UI on the IPad and I hate hate hate how you write a whole book review then with a wrong swipe, the whole review disappears and you have to start again..Version: 3.36.1

Could be betterI’ve been using Goodreads for almost 10 years. And in the last couple years I’ve noticed more issues which causes me to not love the app as much. I wish this app gave .25 star ratings. For books that aren’t just a solid star rating it’s frustrating that it isn’t an option (I switched to another app that gives that option and it’s fantastic). When searching for books, even just a letter off the book/author won’t be found Do I think Goodreads is the best reading tracker app? No. Do I like that my kindle and Goodreads are connected for my book highlights? Yes. What I don’t like is the automatic “read” feature when opening a book There are a lot of things that Goodreads could do to make the app/site more user friendly. Time can only tell if they listen to the complaints and concerns of their users to make the change Update from my last review. It’s now 2024. This app needs to be updated. This tracker still not updated to allow for the .25 star rating is FRUSTRATING. Not every book is a solid star rating. And don’t even get me started on when the app goes down at inconvenient times. UPDATE THE APP.Version: 4.12.1

It’s Great, but...I’ve only had this app for like a day, & I’ve tried and tried and I can’t figure out how to start reading a book📖! 😤 Help please!!! Besides that, this app is great!😏.Version: 3.25

3.5* because it is impossible to give half starsAs much as I like Goodreads and it helps me track my reads, and find out about new books as well as keep up with my friends opinions, I despise the impossibility of giving half stars. It should be allowed to give half stars to books because not every book deserves a 5 but it doesn’t mean it is a 4… I think that a lot of reviewer struggle a lot with the lack of flexibility in book reviewing and therefore a lot of books have higher or lower ratings than they deserve, which skews the whole thing. Another thing missing is that there is very little statistics as to the genre mostly read, or types of books with highest ratings, authors specifications etc, to compare your reads of the month/year/in general. It would be helpful if some additional statistics, with page number, book number etc could be added to the summary of books read and to the yearly challenges… Otherwise highly recommend for tracking your progress!.Version: 3.32.1

And now with adsThe app was pretty functional but now there are in app lowest common denominator ads. Developers got greedy I guess. You could have made ads literature related but no, ham fisted tacky. And is there an in app purchase to op out of ads? No..Version: 4.3.0

Needs dark modePlease put in dark mode, every time I open this app past sunset it burns my eyes..Version: 4.12.0

DisappointedI was looking forward to the recommendation system. My expectations were that it would be more intuitive. That it would generate recommended books based off of more details like themes, character types, type of prose, etc; and perhaps a more personalized rating system. Rather, it just cross references books that you’ve read with popular books of the same genre. The app is still wonderful in many ways, provides a great way of monitoring your progress through your reads and still helps you find new books. TL;DR: lacking an intuitive recommendation system, still has many great features..Version: 3.22.1

Great concept, terrible appThe app constantly shuts down in the middle of my reviews and I always have to start over. The layout is atrocious which is sad because it’s really the only platform where people can come together to discuss books.Version: 4.12.1

It’s so SLOWThe main issue with the Goodreads app is how SLOW it is when loading: reviews, profiles, book lists, groups, and everything else. On the website there’s no issues. But sometimes I’m just rolling my eyes for 30 seconds while I wait for it to catch up, it’s been like this for years. It’s really about time someone did a real update and fixed the bugs, upgraded the system and made it quick as everything else. Things like book groups, recommended lists etc also aren’t really integrated with the app - they open in the app browser which is... okay. But all of the features on web really should be integrated into the app now, it’s 2020... On the whole: Goodreads is an excellent tool and community and I recommend it to anyone. (It’s just better on the web than how the app performs).Version: 3.28

The Saffron RunnersHave recently finished reading Beth G Fox’s book The Saffron Runners. What an amazing book-I felt like I was actually there.I learnt so much after reading the book and at times found myself holding my breath! If you want a book that is different, increases your knowledge but is exciting then The Saffron Runners is for you!.Version: 3.31

Love the app, wish we could do half starsI like how easy the app is to use, to find book, track my progress and review! However, I really wish I could do 0.5 start increments. I can’t say my reviews are ever full accurate becuase I need an in between score.Version: 4.5.0

Slow and freezingI’ve had this app downloaded for two years and haven’t updated it in that time (because I always regret updating apps) and it’s worked fine that whole time. Lately I’ve noticed that it’s started having really long load times when clicking on profiles or books, so I thought I’d try the update to see if that helped. It didn’t. It did, however, make the app glitchier than it was before where it’s now practically impossible to scroll through the editions of a book because it freezes and slows right down to the point you have to close and reopen the app. It also comes up with an error message when loading my shelves sometimes so I’m constantly having to reload them. The app already only features the most basic functionality of the site, which I mostly didn’t mind because it did what I needed it to, but with this update it’s made even that not possible. This is exactly why I never update apps unless I have to..Version: 3.18

Fundamental Flaws Ruining the Good that Could BeI love to read, and I love having an app like Goodreads that helps me keep track of what I’ve read when and share that with my friends, but there are some fundamental issues with the app that have never been addressed that can make the experience frustrating. The biggest issue I’m running into with the latest updates is the way notifications run. I could get a push notification about someone liking or commenting on a progress update, and the notification will take me directly to that interaction. THEN, I have to go back through the app and find the same reaction just to clear the notification from the app. Additionally, some notifications haven’t shown up in the app despite the fact that someone commented or liked something. ALSO, I currently have two “friend requests” pending that I cannot clear because the requests will not show up in the app. Those notifications taunt me every time I look at the app, telling me I have something to look at, then not letting me deal with them. This is the most prevalent issue I’ve seen lately in the app, but it’s indicative of some fundamental bugs that have never been worked out of the system. If these issues would be addressed, this app could be top tier..Version: 4.12.0

InterfaceGreat concept but poor interface - should let you save drafts of reviews - .5 star ratings should exist - should let you like peoples comments - would be great if linked with kobo accounts the same way goodreads links with kindle.Version: 4.8.1

I love the concept but major bugsSo I tried to contact the develops within app to report this bug so it can hopefully be fixed but the bug report just never submitted so putting it here 🤞 When trying to search for books it will show no results even when searching author in the author filter or book title in title, and even when searching for popular books - finding books to pivotal to tracking reading progress and finding books you want to add to TBR. Also when I open the app recently, it directs me to the App Store to update, funnily enough for bug fixes, but there isn’t an update when directed to the App Store..Version: 4.12.1

Good Concept, Poor ExecutionI’ve added several books to my “want to read” list and unfortunately those books didn’t add or were somehow removed? There’s no search history which is both surprising and abysmal because now I’ve lost a few books that I wanted to read, and I can’t find them any more which has made having this app mostly useless. I will have to go back to my old (but reliable) way of either taking a screenshot of the title or typing it into the notes app on my phone. It’s also annoying to see others have asked for a “search history” option many years ago, yet it’s clear you haven’t taken it into the least bit of consideration? I fail to see how such a feature has not yet been implemented. The comment section is a mess and the app could do with an overall polish. Not happy..Version: 4.0

Impressive bug hindering functionalityWhen I search famous authors, like Jack Kerouac, he doesn’t appear in the results and when I manage to find the page of any author I’m looking for, all the books are in different languages - ones that do not use the English alphabet When this gets fixed I’ll bring it back up to 4 or 5 stars because I love this app but this bug is quite ridiculous. If I search for On the Road and Kerouac isn’t the first result, this app is failing me. *further note with the search bar: I find it infuriating when I type in a title and the book does not come up and instead I get 5 random books with one of the title words in them, and it’s always these ridiculous fantasy or ya books. And then I actually press search and I have to scroll all the way to the bottom where I’ll maybe find the book. It seems like the search bar isn’t being used as an, “I’m looking for this exact title” but rather “I’d like to read a book with these words in the title” which is stupid and an ineffective finding aid..Version: 4.8.1
