Goodreads: Book Reviews for Positive User Reviews

Great app, a few tweaks to make it 5 starI like this app, it really helps foster a good reading habit. All of a sudden I want to read all the books! I would appreciate an OK button when making changes - there’s something weird about making an account change and not submitting it. But primarily the ability to set the date format to Australian (or however else it may be called). I expect there are plenty of users like me that are not in the USA and use a different date format..Version: 3.21

Mind blowing! This book will challenge your paradigm of the world. Really. It will expand your understanding of psychology, human emotion, spirituality, civil society, personal faith, history, and international politics. It will affirm the existence of supernatural intelligent evil and the God of the Bible, as well as His trinitarian reality. You will be amazed at how much we don't know about what is going on right under our noses. Even where you live. I believe this personal account to be 100% true. Anyone who says otherwise is either not familiar with the depth and breadth of corroborating material from very trustworthy sources, or they are too afraid of the implications for their personal belief systems. Suffice to say, we are on the precipice of some very difficult times and the biggest challenges we will face in the upcoming months will be from things we cannot even begin to comprehend. This book is a warning. A shot over the bow, a call to spiritual arms. We as as society had better get prepared and supernaturally armed. We are woefully outgunned and undertrained. The Holy Spirit of the Living God is the only force that can help. Orient your heart toward HIM and join in the good fight! God Bless!.Version: 4.2.0

Get this app!If I had to describe this app, I would say it’s the equivalent of a non-toxic, book lovers’ social media. You can talk about books, rate books, use an algorithm to find recommended books, join groups, see what your friends are reading AND (this is my personal favourite feature) create “shelves.” You have three default shelves: “read,” “currently reading” and “want to read,” which is super useful in particular. But you can make your own - maybe a “favourites” one to keep track of books you would read again, or a “fantasy” one to keep track of genres. It is honestly so useful. I love this app. I have iOS 13.6.1 (at the time of this review) and it works perfectly for me, even though some reviews say it has glitches..Version: 3.25.1

Easily my favorite appI don’t have Social Media, but Goodreads makes me feel connected to my friends in a way Social Media used to. Especially being a Christian, and having people from my church and my community on the App, I’m able to see what likeminded people are reading and their thoughts on the books before I read them. Before Goodreads I read about 4 books per year (being generous to myself here), and now, with Goodreads, I have a hunger to read all these amazing titles I see everyone talking about. I have read four books in 2024 and we are only 9 days in - thanks to Audiobooks, of course - but the supplication of other readers’ thoughts to my bookworm mentality has driven me to be part of the reading community at my church. This App is so motivating! Additionally, I am a science nerd, so I get to see what my cousin and my friend from out-of-State are reading and tackle those heavy reads, too! Thank you, Goodreads!.Version: 4.12.1

Good but...It's great and really useful but it would be nice if on the "details" of the book you added word count and if it's written from first person POV or third person POV as can't read first person books.Version: 3.31

Almost perfectGoodreads is a fantastic way of keeping a track of all the books you want to read, the ones you’re reading and the ones you’ve read. A social hub of fiction and non-fiction enthusiasts. Often I’ll be in a book shop or looking online and I’ll be able to have a look at my ‘want to read’ list to remind myself of that book I saw months ago but didn’t buy at the time. It’s a handy tool. The only thing that doesn’t work for me is the ‘Recommendations’ section - whoever has written that algorithm hasn’t quite done Goodreads justice. I’ve never read a book that showed up in mine However, if you have enough people in your network that you follow then you’re more likely to pick up better recommendations from them anyway..Version: 3.19

Change is importantOk so... it took me a while to see a couple of things I really really wanted goodreads to change. First is that I can’t seem to edit my shelf other than change its name and delete books. But it should also let you change the order of the books and let you put them in other shelves without having to click on them and THEN adding them. E.g: you enter Want To Read and see a book you want to add to some shelf. Instead of clicking and opening EVERYTHING including the synopsis and all, you hold your finger onto the name of the book and all the shelves are available for you to insert it. Also, I’m from Brazil and constantly I check all my books to see if they gained a Brazilian edition. But some books have like, a 100 editions and it takes SO MUCH time to find a portuguese one. PLEASE let it have a box or whatever in the beginning of the page so I can search already “portuguese” and find an edition with my language..Version: 3.17

App has some bugs/could also simply be better than it is in generalWhen I first got the app - I was disappointed in some of the features. But they were small things. Like if I accidentally friend requested someone with a similar name to who I actually meant to request - I can’t cancel that request. I have to wait and see if that person accepts it before I can unadd them. But my most recent issue has to be a Bug. It didn’t used to be a problem. It’s glitching when you enter dates read for a book that you’ve read more than once. At first, it made both sets of dates match. Then after I tried to enter a complaint or ticket to Goodreads, they did respond saying they’re working on it but I woke up to find my latest most recent read of the book was completely gone, removing it from my current reading challenge, and it was replaced with the original year I’d read the book. I barely remembered my most recent start date in order to fix it. I recommend buying a book journal or keeping track in a document on your computer as well as using Goodreads because you can’t rely on Goodreads to keep your records accurate..Version: 4.4.1

Desperately needs a proper DNF optionAbsolutely love everything about this app, the book suggestions, connections with friends, revues for authors, bar the capability to have some books marked as Did not finish. I know you can create shelves to put them there, but you really need a drop down option that you can mark as DNF & you can have the option to track or clear, as I don’t want them as currently reading or ‘want to read’ & I want to track what I’ve started but not finished. Any true book lover has many of these in their life.Version: 4.5.0

My own digital library. It’s so nice to have an app that tracks what I read, not to actually read on! I think this is the perfect combination of technology and hard copy media. Not everyone likes the digital advancement of the reading industry, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t tools out there that make the experience fun and easy to track. This is one of those tools. You really won’t regret it. It’s like a search function for your own library that exists in your mind..Version: 4.14.1

WonderfulThis application is amazing, I am so happy it exists. My favourite tool is being able to update my progress on books easily, just a few taps away. No computer needed! I will say it took some time to find some tricks and general usage also took some time to figure out. App looks outdated and could be a tad user friendly but other than that it does absolutely everything I need in the palm of my hand. I have a worldwide library and am very grateful. Thank you GOODREADS!.Version: 4.3.0

Couldn’t put it down!To be honest, I wasn’t sure at first but as you get to know Minerva and Lawrence (for some reason I love possessive direct communication males with a soft side is such a turn on… wow!) The feeling of love lust loss in my gut just did it for me! I read it in less then 24 hours and highly recommend it to any hopeless romantic!. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review..Version: 4.13.1

Enjoyable but needs privacy settings on shelvesI Love goodreads for all the obvious reasons. I do find myself disappointed that I can’t add private shelves or private notes on books. An ability to record that I’ve read something without announcing it to the world. Goodreads acts as a kind of record and journal of your reading history, so allowing more space for uses to add notes and bookmarks as they please means we don’t need to seek another app or physical book. Adding notes separate to reviews would be nice for personal reminders to reread a book. Or reasons you only partially finished and put it back on the shelf etc..Version: 3.28

Perfect! Just missing one thing...I love this app! I love that you can scan books into it for easy cataloging, I love that I can use it while doing unnecessary book shopping to make sure I don’t buy what I already have. I love that I can update my progress on books in the app. It’s literally missing just one thing - the ability to enter dates on my activity for a book showing I’ve re-read it. I know I can edit when I first started and finished a book, but I can’t add more dates as I re-read books, which is all I tend to be doing lately. I know I can add these dates on the site (which, tbh it’s really difficult to get to the page I need to enter re-read dates, so that could be improved, too), but, while a majority of my books are actually physical books, I do have a lot of kindle and audio books that I consume on my phone, so when I finish them, it would be nice to be able to update my activity with a re-read date while I’ve already got my nose stuck in front of my phone. My rating is a 4 out of 5, but I will gladly give it a perfect 5 if that missing feature can be added!.Version: 3.8.2

1 place for all your escapesGreat app to keep track of all the amazing books you want to read. It could do with a more modern look and feel and maybe some cool stats on reading, but it does the job!.Version: 4.8.0

4 star app but…Would love to see half stars as an option when leaving a review. There is difference between a 3 star book vs 3.5 star book.Version: 4.12.1

Help!Goodreads, I have had this app since it started, today on my iOS it did an update, now it won’t let me sign in! I’ve lost all my data. I need to get this resolved..Version: 3.17

Adding a new section to the app. This is a very good app, I love using it. But I really think that you should develop a section in the app where you can play around with the books like tier ranking books you’ve read, or having to guess the book based on a certain aspects and more creative ideas that you can come up with game/book wise. I feel that this would bring more people to use the app and make it more enjoyable..Version: 4.10.0

Essential servicesThis app is great! Perfect companion to a book lover..Version: 3.22.1

Some glitches, but goodSometime, when I write a review of a title I’ve read, it disappears forever when I try to post it to my reading habits page or Facebook. I have learnt to copy and paste my review before posting so that I don’t lose me text. Also, would love the ability to put books to read list in order of currently reading, rather than the other filters available at present. Otherwise, a worthwhile app..Version: 3.9.2

I waste so much time on Goodreads (in a good way)I love this concept. The app itself could be more user friendly - for example, trying to go through my book lists is a bit tedious, and the search function is a bit annoying (not the best algorithm when starting a search) but I LOVE the accountability it gives when reading, that you can see what your well-read friends are up to, and that there is always a never ending array of books you find yourself adding to “to-read” bookshelf..Version: 3.23.1

Search function doesn’t workGoodreads is a great site & love the book loving community. The search function in the app has problems. Example, say there is a book you know is on goodreads like flea’s ‘Acid for the children’. When i go in to the search function on the app and type in ‘acid for the children’ it doesn’t find the book. Put if you put ‘goodreads acid for the children’ in to a search engine you find it. Based on the other reviews appears that there have been issues with the search function for some time. Great if they could fix them 😀 Otherwise great app esp ‘you may also llike’ suggestions for books. Such a great app for book lovers I am still giving it 5 stars! ✌🏻.Version: 3.29

Good, Could be betterOk so I really like this app but there is a few things that I would change 1) I would really add half a star exp. 3.5 stars I think for a book ratings it’s definitely something everyone would want. 2) I just recently realized this but when someone sends you a friend request it says you have a notification but when you click the requests there is nothing there and it is really frustrating trying to find a way to add my friends on the app. 3) This isn’t really that important but some of the books on the app have the old covers for one book in the series but the rest have the new covers for example the first book in the throne of glass series on good reads has the old cover. 4) I think it would be a fun idea to have personal notes for things. Like instead of just being able to write a public review you could also have personal notes for the books just to keep track of your thoughts in a more private way. Besides those things I think this is a very good app that I use almost everyday..Version: 4.4.1

Goodreads rocks!I have been a Goodreads participant for a few years now, and I LOVE it! I never buy a book anymore without checking the ratings on Goodreads. It’s a great place to keep track of the books you’ve read and the app is excellent! My only disappointment is the fact that I can’t give half star ratings!.Version: 3.11

Awesome!!!This is the app I use most when looking at books. I love all the features in it and I like how features are still being added. •A few things I would suggest, though, are adding an option for when you are recording which days you read the book (from start to finish), to also have an option for the time. I usually know what time I started and finished a book so this would be helpful for me. And to put in settings whether you would rather have the standard “Military time” version for the time or the version where the numbers start over after twelve and use AM and PM. •Also when marking a book as “Read” I think there should be an option to click directly to the page where you record the days you read the book from start to finish. A direct click from one page to another would be very helpful for me. •The only thing that I am not so happy about is that I can’t use Goodreads when I don’t have WiFi, so if I’m eagerly trying to find a book in the car or on my school bus, I can’t look at any books because there is “no connection”. •Also, I love the fact that I can connect my Kindle Paper White to Goodreads and add in new books that I want to read, am currently reading or have just finished. It makes it so much easier!! Anyway, overall, this is an amazing app and I’ve recommended it to all my bookworm friends and I recommend it to anyone reading this!!!!.Version: 3.17.1

Great app could use some added featuresI think the app is great, it helps me keep track of my reviews on books I’ve read and I’ve found some incredible book suggestions through Goodreads, However when you add a book to your shelf it automatically adds it to the “want to read shelf”. I guess for me if I’m buying 4 books at a time I’d like to be able to keep track which ones I have versus which ones I’m still looking for..Version: 4.2.0

A book havenGoodreads is an exciting place where a lone bookworm comes to find her friends and realizes she has never been alone, not really. The exceptionally large community is so full of nooks and crannies to wander, explore and discover. Stacking up one’s bookshelves and throwing opinions back and forth have never been so rewarding as in the company of so many like-minded people. It is a place to hoard up treasures from the past and for the time to come, to vent and to rant, to gather one’s wit and to marvel at some jewels of intelligence. Goodreads is the virtual fireplace in front of which families and friends from far and wide gather together, to read..Version: 3.16

A Brilliant App, but SlowGoodreads is a brilliant app that I’ve used for ages to track my reading, find new books, motivate me to read, and have healthy competition with friends on who can reach their books goal for the year quickest. However, the app is slow at loading pages, on both WiFi and Mobile Data. If you click on anything, it proceeds to take between 15 and 20 seconds to load - and I mean everything! Whilst the slowness of the app can hinder enjoyment, there is still a considerable about of enjoyment to have and is a necessity nevertheless!.Version: 3.22.1

Sharing great booksIt’s always great to share a great book once you’ve finished and I love reading other peoples reviews afterwards! Also great to record all the books I’ve read or listened to so you can easily give friends a list of 4 or 5 star books..Version: 3.16

ThanksThank you, this allows me to keep up with current trends for youth books tbatare recommended I care for my grandsin who is 12 yearsold and loves readinf so knowing what to buy is very important to us The reviews arereally important.Version: 3.11.1

AMAZINGI’m obsessed with books and I’ve found that I’m trying to note down books I want to read later in my head, only to forget them when I need something to read. This has really helped. I’m able to keep track of the books I’ve read and the ones I want to read in the future. There’s also an option to classify books into other separate bookshelves if needed. It’s also a place you can write and read reviews so you can see others’ opinions and share your own. Although you can’t read the actual books on the app, it’s great for organising the books you read and getting more suggestions..Version: 3.23.1

I like it - but the librarian function/collaborating bugs meGreat to have so many books here. It would be even better to score out of 10. But: The librarian function/collaborating bugs me: I wanted to collaborate and sometimes add new books especially New Zealand ones that aren’t up yet but although they gave me permission to be librarian I can’t do anything else and I have never yet managed to contact ANYONE about this. V frustrating especially seeing that I do get all the - useless for me in the circumstances- librarian updates..Version: 3.28

Loved itThe humanity and the personal suffering was so real..Version: 4.6.0

Needs a revampI use this app religiously but it needs an revamp BAD. the UI looks like it hasnt changed since day 1 and itd be nice if i could see my friends activity more often than i see ads on my feed 😑. would be nice if we could personalize our profiles, but not necessary. also recommendations or searching through genres could be greatly enhanced by further filtering of intended audiences—i dont want to scroll through twenty 20 childrens fantasy books before even finding one mediocre adult fantasy book im not interested in. ABSOLUTELY would benefit from half star rating system or even 10 star rating system im tired of seeing a 3 star review with “3.5 stars …” or a 1 star review with “0.5 stars…” in the actual review. the app is also not super user friendly and is generally clunky. lots of unnecessary tapping needed and idk what it is but the searching function is super clunky too. i feel like the search option should first search our shelves for matches before searching the rest of the database for matches. definitely need a multi-select option to make shelving multiple books easier. i have over 300 books in my read im not reshelving each individual book, jeffrey. add tags in reviews so we can filter by tags. basically more filtering options for everything. add private reviews only your friends can see so that they dont affect the overall review of the book (sometimes you can acknowledge a book is well-written and still hate it)..Version: 3.34

Essential /useful for bibliophilesA great place to list, categoriseit’s nice to keep more of the books you read, the books you want to read, write and see others’ reviews and even follow authors. There’s a “male friends” aspect too and ppl can follow your reading and reviews. There a DM section like Messenger... so it’s like FB or Insta but without baby pictures, dog videos or photos of restaurant meals ;) Just books. And more books. The only thing missing is the smell of musty pages and Moroccan leather binding #bliss.Version: 4.10.0

Keeping Secrets. Why do we do it?Yet another great book from Teresa. Loved the fact I could read it uninterrupted, on holiday. It was interesting to read from each individual character. It really brings home, where we go wrong keeping secrets. Often done for the right reasons, but inevitably with the wrong consequences. Each character shown how their relationships were effected by their own secrets and the influence other peoples secrets had on them. As usual with TD books, I came away looking how this theme has/had effected my own life. Brilliant story and ‘good food for thought’..Version: 3.33.1

GoodreadsI really love Goodreads and have had it for some time. It lets me know what my family are reading and how much they enjoyed the book. You also get some excellent reviews of books so that you can decide whether it’s worth reading or not, whilst bearing in mind that we all see books differently-it certainly depends upon my mindset at the time as to whether I enjoy a book or not. I also love the reading challenge where you get to decide the number of books you think you’ll read over the year. It tells you if you’re on track, or how many books ahead or behind schedule you are..Version: 4.3.0

Forced “Read”, “Want to Read”, “Currently Reading”UPDATE: Goodreads contacted me and suggested I make my son’s bookshelf “exclusive”, meaning books on the shelf wouldn’t be on two shelves (that one and “currently reading” at the same time). It’s exactly what I needed. Thanks Goodreads! I updated my review! Original Review: I like this app. I would like to use it for its intended purpose for my own books (meaning: marking this as read, currently reading, want to read), and also keep a “shelf” of my son’s books to share with his grandparents. It is frustrating that you are FORCED to choose “read”, “currently reading”, or “want to read” for every book—I don’t want to mark my son’s books with these tags; I just want to catalog them with a shelf. I only want to use these tags with my own books... it’s annoying that I have to see his books in “currently reading” when I just want to see mine! Please add this option so I can use this app for myself! Right now I’m “currently reading” 50 children’s books! :(.Version: 3.15.1

Needs Some ImprovementsI like the app overall, but I really wish it would include a few things. I tend to listen to audiobooks, so when I switch it to that version and want to update my progress, I can’t input the time I have left listening to the book. It only allows me to input the percent or page/s I've read. I saw the developer’s suggestion to a reviewer about dividing the time read but it’s not something that as a reader I want to be concerned with. If the site/app is allowing you to select different versions/formats of the book then it should also provide a progress section that compliments the selected version/format. It would be really awesome if I could sync my Audible account the way I can with my Kindle. I like the to-read list feature because it allows me to see which book to read next. This is extremely convenient when you’re participating in a reading challenge. Overall, I enjoy the app very much and highly recommend it..Version: 3.32

Love this app!I have adhd which makes reading difficult. It also makes it nearly impossible for me to remember what I’ve read. This app has been so helpful in that regard. I enjoy being able to track my “read” and “want to read” shelves so I never buy a book twice! Having an annual goal is really helpful too as it gives me something to work toward to keep me motivated to read. My only suggestion would be to add a new search capability. I often wind up searching for a book on my shelves when I mean to do a general search. I then get the message that says “you have no books matching [title].” At which point you have to go to another tab and retype the book in to search for it. It would be awesome if there was an option to click a button to open the general search page and run a search for that book rather than just seeing the no matches found message. Hope that makes sense. Thanks!.Version: 4.2.0

Love itFinally a place to keep track of my books I’ve read, books I want to read, the only thing I would like to be added is 1/2 stars in the rating. A great app..Version: 4.12.1

My fave appThis app allows me to connect with other like minded readers not many of my real life friends read and I can also capture what I have read and what I want to read in the future.Version: 3.34

My favorite app on my phoneI’m obsessed with Goodreads. I love tracking my reading and even more I love seeing what others are reading and adding their favorites to my TBR. That being said the app can be clunky at times - the whole thing could use an update. It seems the transition from website to app had a few hiccups? I don’t receive notifications other than my email (could be user error), when looking at my profile’s updates they will stack on top of each other, DMs are not worth using as it’s only text that you can send. I would love to have an option to send/receive book suggestions to other friends. I’d also absolutely love to see something like Spotify’s blend where you can see how compatible you are with your friends book lists. A lot of people also wish for the ability to rate with half stars but that’s not super important to me. Even with all the clunky I love this app so much. I check it at least every day..Version: 4.11.0

GoodA good app, nothing has ever changed and the UI still seems outdated..Version: 4.2.0

Helpful but unstableThe app has all the features you might want, such as tracking your reading, storing books you’re done with or saving future potential reads. But it’s prone to frequent crashes, strange loading screens and odd behavior overall. I feel as when I passed a certain volume of books it got worse - not sure if it has anything to do with that. It for sure needs a stability update..Version: 4.8.1

Echo - worth a repeat readEcho is a delicious Sicilian surprise. As usual I count down the days until Sybil’s next AES installment, then struggle to fit normal life around devouring the pages loathing any interruptions. Echo has appeared alongside the other Alpha Elite hero’s and hints have been made towards his protective side but his story will completely tug at your heartstrings. I also love how previous characters pop up and the banter between them all which usually gives us a sneak peek into future Alpha’s. As always all of Sybil’s books are a one-click but this story, wow, as his name correctly suggests this installment will definitely be a repeat read..Version: 4.5.0

Super Helpful as a ParentI like to make sure my 7 and 5 year old don’t stumble across inappropriate books for their age and this app really helps. It’s also great to follow authors they like so we get good recommendations. We save books they want to read to the shelves so we’ve always got a list to look for in the library. It’s also handy to have a list of what our eldest read so we can recommend them to our youngest ina. Couple of years. Highly recommend..Version: 4.6.0

The best book appFor many reasons but firstly, because it’s the best place to go to find a book reviews. There’s user reviews, comment sections and critical reviews. You can also join book clubs and communities which I suggest everyone does because it’s a great way to converse with likeminded individuals. I hope this app sticks around because I’ll always have it on my phone, it’s become a necessity at this point- all bookworms should have it!.Version: 3.14.1

Get Goodreads = READ MORE BOOKSA great app for finding new books and improving your reading. I used to read a couple books a year, now I read a couple books a month. A lot of that I attribute to Goodreads. Yes, sometimes only “trendy” books made the top lists. And yes, sometimes the app is very clunky. But the app is great for what it is, and what it helps you to do - which is READ MORE BOOKS!.Version: 4.5.0

App heats up phoneI love goodreads ( the web version) and the iPhone app is great except every single time I have it on, my phone heats up and feels like it’s about to explode. Maybe there is a memory leak somewhere or it’s using wayyy more cpu than it needs to, I don’t know, but please fix!!.Version: 3.24

Really good but it had banner adsI love using good reads and this app is excellent however the app has banner ads. No pop up one or anything like that, the ads aren’t super invasive, however I would be more than willing to spend some money to remove them if I could, however there is no way to do that unfortunately..Version: 3.9.2

Enhancement requestI was introduced to GoodReads by my 15 year old Granddaughter. It is a very good app and I am enjoying it for the most part. What I find frustrating and would ask the developers could the either do it automatically or have the option to list books by an Author AND have his Character Series listed in Series order. Take James Patterson for example - he has a lot of Novels with Alex Cross and likewise Jack Morgan in the Private Series. When looking at his books using by Author the listing is all over the place - #15 might be listed before #2 in the Series with books from all his other Character/Theme Series mingled in. I am a person who likes to & tries to read a Series in order since the Author is carrying some details from earlier books into the later ones. I also find the same book title listed more than once and it wasn’t because it was included in a compilation set. If you could add this enhancement suggestion it would make a very good app even better and more useful!.Version: 4.14.1

Needs Some Major FixesI love Goodreads! It’s a fantastic site to track your reading and discuss with other book nerds! But aside from that, the design of the mobile platform is horrendous. When adding books to shelves the app often glitches and says there are 0 books or -1 books on my shelf. How does that even happen? The process of adding books to shelves also is rather choppy and pretty frustrating. For an site that’s been around for more than a decade, you’d think they’d get simple design issues sorted out! And coupled with all of the above, the app is essentially the PC site with touch recognition, which in this case, does not work whatsoever. Goodreads, please invest more time into redesigning your app into a mobile friendly and smooth running app, rather than what we have now. Moving on to the good. The collection of users on the site is astonishing, and your experience feels like joining a community of all book nerds alike. The amount of books also is mind-boggling. I can find just about any book I look for. The reading challenge is my favourite thing about Goodreads, what a fantastic idea! Overall, it’s a fantastic community to be a part of, but the frustratingly primitive mobile app makes the experience less than it should be..Version: 3.25

Its an amazing app BUTIts an amazing app BUT i hate how you can’t have ratings like 4.25 or 4.5 or 4.75 etc. i think that would be very helpful because sometimes it’s very hard to put a book into 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars you need an in-between! also i think the recommendations tab/page needs an update the layout is very old fashioned and the books it recommends you are based on a weird algorithm, i hardly like any of the books i get recommended. also maybe you could allow us to make our own sub-folders under the ‘want to read’ section eg. ‘really want to read’ or whatever. also ofc if there was a section/folder marked as never finished so the book wouldn’t be counted as ‘read’ or ‘want to read’ but simple ‘never finished’. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL! also ofc re-reading the app doesn’t deal too well with that, the dates get switched up and i have to enter the dates manually also if you could give a book 2 (or more ratings) for each reread eg. if i read a book in 2016 and gave it 2 starts then read it again in 2020 and gave it 4 stars, it doesn’t let you keep both ratings it just keeps the most recent one so PLEASE FIX THIS, and also i hate how you can’t have a book in ‘want to read’ AND ‘read’.Version: 3.27

MaintainReally like the app have suggested it to everyone one of my mates that reads, Makes me read more with the progress bar (I see it like a challenge) Only suggestion I have for an improvement would be the loading screen when you first open has quotes which I really enjoy although sometimes they are to fast for me to read or fully understand it’d be nice if we had the option once loaded to then move onto the next screen..Version: 3.31

Great concept but underdevelopedThis app provides me with motivation to read for sure. I have been using it frequently since I downloaded it a month or so ago. The longer I use it however, I am noticing more and more issues and I wish the app provided more features (working features). Recently I have been having issues where whenever I try to check my reading progress and dates I have updated my page it takes me to the review page with no option get into the section I want. This app would really take a huge leap forward by providing users with statistics and their reading trends..Version: 3.15.1

I use it ALL THE TIME!!This app is amazing. I use it all the time!! It’s fun to keep up with all of your reading and to look back at everything you've read. I love how you can tell it what page your on and it will tell you exactly how far into the book you are. The database is huge!! Even books I don’t expect to find are here. You can find books that you’ve been wanting to read, put them in a folder and when your looking for your next book you can scroll through said folder until you find one. It’s amazing, I love this app, it’s just great! One thing I do wish is, when I tell it I’ve read a book, it doesn’t mean I just finished it. There should be a different button (but next to the ‘I’ve read this book button’) that says I just finished this book; and the I’ve read this book button should just put it in the Read folder and not on my reading challenge list. The I just finished this book button should add it to the reading challenge..Version: 3.21

LOVE IT BUTI love this app, the only thing I wish we could change is a half rating. Some books I read are often a 3.5 or a 4.5 and we don’t have the ability to do this. For those who read heaps, they will know what this means!!!.Version: 3.36.1

The perfect app for a bookwormIt’s like a social media app for bookworms. One of my favourite apps that I have. So so worth creating an account if only to track your own progress of reading. But it’s so fun to get to see what other people are reading and what they recommend also!.Version: 4.4.1

AwesomeMy only suggestion is that goodreads introduce a half-star rating system (like letterboxd) for a greater ability to differentiate between books.Version: 3.36.1

Social media at its best!I love this app. People sharing their insights on great books. It’s bliss! 😆.Version: 3.17.1

Time AND Money saverGood reads is amazing. Whether its the upcoming books in a certain genre updated daily, the recommendations from people with similar taste. A favorite feature of mine is the Preview feature, which allows the reader to read a few chapters (depending the the chapters lengths and books itself). With the different versions and and publications -and languages- that has saved me money. Something I wish I discovered before to save money from previous book that I ended up disliking. The slight problem I have with Goodreads is that my other bookshelves have combined with my want to read. As a reader, I will take note of upcoming and eye catching books that I might enjoy. Putting my "airballs if you will" shelf automatically in the want to read section is tiring and annoying. I can see the airball shelf itself separately, I cannot do the same with my want to reads as they combine automatically. Overall, this app is amazing has been a saving grace, and enjoyable books and reviews. Which are incredibly helpful when you find people with similar interests. My slight problem can be easily solved with a separate list of permissions in the settings to combine bookshelves..Version: 3.36

DaisyLove the app, and love using it to read the synopsis of books I hear about. Just wish they would add the option to use half stars! So many times I have to down grade a book rating when it really falls in the middle of 2 stars.Version: 3.25.1

Bugs need fixing! As an avid reader, I love being able to track my reading and Good Reads does that. But bugs need to be fixed. My notifications NEVER clear. After days of getting a friend request and accepting, the red notification sign still has not cleared. Also, when I update what page/percentage I am on of a book it won’t always update it straight away. I have to completely clear the app from my device and restart it and then it will update it. These things need fixing!.Version: 3.34

The app for every bookworm, but it definitely needs a few improvements.I use Goodreads every single day and it’s just overall amazing. Some of the things that would be great if it was added in the app though: - An edit and delete option for statuses in this mobile version. You can only do this with a computer and it’s quite a handful to switch on to my laptop only to edit or delete a status because of a typo I’ve written on it with my phone. - Can you please please please make it easier to add gifs/images or book/author links in reviews, especially in the mobile version? - Having bold, italic and underline buttons when writing a review would help a lot. Seriously. I despise using “<b></b>” for bold and “<i></i>” and all the other stuff. - The ability to add exclusive shelves and other types of shelves in the mobile app would be cool. I’m pretty sure you can only do this with the computer too. If these features were added I’m pretty sure more bibliophiles would use this app. I have a friend who loves books as much as I do but using the app is way too confusing for her. Otherwise, I love this app! It made me read a lot more and it’s really useful for keeping track of my reads and ratings..Version: 3.13

Highly enjoyable world war two fictionI really enjoyed this sweet tale of a girl finding friendship and a love of books during a horrendous period of time. All readers/ book lovers will attest to the comfort they have in being lost in another world, and this book embodied these sentiments in the best way. The Last Bookshop in London was beautifully descriptive, had minimal war scenes, strong friendships and a touch of romance. It was like a mug of hot chocolate on a winter night. I recommend this book to female fiction book lovers..Version: 4.0.1

I LOVE this app, BUT …Goodreads is a bookworm’s dream — I absolutely love it and would highly recommend to all my fellow book lovers out there! The only reason I haven’t given it a 5-star rating is because you can only rate books on the app with whole-star ratings (eg. 2 stars, 3 stars etc.) and I would really, really love to be able to give half-star ratings (i.e. 1.5 stars, 4.5 stars, etc.) because some books are better than 3 stars but not quite 4 stars and it’s quite frustrating not being able to make that distinction! If this could be implemented in an update soon, I (and so many of my friends who use the app also) would be over the moon. Please give us our half-star ratings so we can give you a 5-star one, Goodreads!.Version: 4.9.0

Rescued From Being! This book rescued me from a 30+ year dead-end in Being-ness. I see clearly how I misunderstood enlightenment as the realisation that Being is without self - ie I Am-ness - selfless awareness. (some even try to yogicly develop this Being-ness - eg. “plugged-in presence” - without merely standing prior to Being-ness in Non-Being) You can play with Being-ness all day - coming up with more and more complicated ways to purify it, develop it! It’s pretty easy to recognise a teacher who is playing the development of Being game - they write LOTS of books and have a system and practices of Byzantine complexity which greatly appeal to those who believe that they need to become “experts”! That was the cul de sac I was stuck in without even knowing. Non-Being/No Awareness is prior! The play of Being re-cognised as No-Thing-Ness - just temporary modifications, limitations on the unlimited Non-Being. Thank you!.Version: 3.31

Great appThis is the best app on my phone! I love browsing what books I'm going to read or what my friends are currently reading...Also I love keeping track of what I've read and what I'd like to read. Great feature having the book challenge and email capability. Now I never choose a book without looking at the ratings on good reads first!.Version: 4.5.0

I love this app!Basically I got this app because I wanted to track my reading and all my friends suggested this! I absolutely fell in love soon after I downloaded it and it is one of my favourite apps and I use it all the time! I love talking to people in groups and making friends so it’s also a really social app and I love discussing hot book topics it’s a great app and I really suggest it to anyone starting reading and for people who are obsessed w BookTok ( EG ME!) I would give this app 1m stars if I could lol.Version: 4.11.0

Some improvements could be madeI love this app but when it comes to ratings that is definitely the number one problem most users stumble upon - the fact we can only strictly rate a book whole numbers (1-5) when sometimes we want to rate a book .25 or .5 or .75. Additionally, changes with logging “re-reads” should also be added. It is extremely inconvenient that there is no option for this as many users like myself sometimes want to reread books but it mixes things up due to it already being in the “read” folder. These are the main constructive criticisms I have for goodreads in order for it to become a much better and accessible app for all users! Thank you!.Version: 4.10.0

A must have for readersI have been using this app since 2012 and it is excellent!! I refer it to all my friends. Keep all the books you have read in one place, add ratings and reviews, have a to read section for all the recommendations you hear and then used to forget! Scan function. Is great for quickly looking up a book and international peer ratings of books! You can also do reading challenges setting targets for books each year, connect with friends, and follow authors!! I wish there was one for movies!!.Version: 3.34

Recommend for fellow bookwormsOkay so I don’t really know what to say. This app is fun and helpful. I use it a lot and recommend it to my fellow book worms and friends a like. It helps me keep track of all the books I’ve read and want to read meaning I can finally delete photos off of my camera roll :3 yes I do that lol 😂 I also like the fact that there is a challenge you can set to read X amount of books in a year. It’s nice having a goal to try and achieve even if it’s a little sad it makes me happy. Sorry for any spelling mistakes or punctuation errors I can’t see what I’m typing for whatever reason I can just see the blow line thing moving as I type so I’m hoping this isn’t blank 😂😂.Version: 3.23.1

GoodI like tracking what I’m reading and, my progress and getting rec one Dario a. I would love a ‘I’ve given up on this hoo’ button though. goodreads I find it motivates me to read at a good pace and I enjoy seeing what my friends are reading and reviewing. I love seeing the progress of what I’m reading but I would love a ‘I've given up on this book button’ as I have ditched a couple of books. But this almost might help in which books are recommended as it will know which books aren’t suitable too..Version: 3.29

Good but not greatI wish they added a little extra to this app. I can go to historical fiction, then further search by a predetermined category ‘medieval’. However, there all the medieval books are listed what appears to be randomly. Not by popularity, not by score, not alphabetically. Adding that, and better explore/discover interfaces, would make this app great. Right now it feels a bit like a website from 2004..Version: 3.21

I love GoodreadsI can’t remember who told me about this app but what I do remember is I downloaded it originally but didn’t use it for years. Now, I recommend it to ANYONE who tells me they read books. I love it. It’s sooo unbelievably handy to read everyone’s reviews before deciding on adding a book to my ‘to read’ list. I also LOVE being able to keep track of my books that I’ve read, want to read and am currently reading. I love that you can set yourself Reading challenges for the year and that it includes a community, although I don’t make the most of that but I should. I always write reviews in order to give back as they play such an important role in my choosing which books to read. I also really like that I can break down all of my books into categories, as many categories as I like. As I have A LOT of books on my list so it’s handy to filter them all out. The only reason it isn’t a 5 star is because it’s still a bit of a basic app with limited functionality. I’d love to see it updated and become a bit more advance so I would be able to do a bit more with it. However, it’s free! So I’m not complaining. I’d be gutted to lose it that’s for sure..Version: 4.9.0

Where has the current year in books gone?I love this app and it has helped me read lots more. I’ve had it since 2019. However, the latest update seems to have taken away the ability to see your Year In Books for the current year (i.e. 2022). Although not a complete year, the app used to let you see where you were at, average length of book this year, number of pages and your first and last review etc. You could also look at friends current year too to see their progress. Now it only seems you can only see that information for the previous year?! Please advise or amend the app back as I used to enjoy looking at this page on the app a lot!.Version: 4.4.1

When the mist clears by Frank MalleyI have two chapters left to read of this book and have found myself looking forward to going to bed every night when I do my reading. I have really enjoyed getting to know and understand the characters....at first I thought it was unlikely that I would get into a rather ordinary group of characters travelling weekly with their driver for chemo treatment. I was wrong and find myself embroiled in each interesting character. I particularly liked the part in the book when Dan was writing about his experience as a journalist in the Syrian desert. .....realistic and moving. The author has an easy flow to his writing and provides enough twists and turns in the storyline to keep the reader engaged, creating great moments of anticipation as to what was coming next. I was not bored once reading this book and would highly recommend it..Version: 3.29

Great book tracking, poor socialsI find this app immeasurably helpful for tracking my to-read shelf. But other tracking feels clunky - for example, custom shelves can only be lower-case. Furthermore, the app lacks common social features, such as notifications when a friend replies to something you’ve said. But if I had one request, it would be for stats on read/unread books on my shelves, or at least better integration with other tools such as Story Graph (currently very manual and tedious)..Version: 4.7.1

A life collection of readingI really love GoodReads, it makes selecting new books so much easier. I know what I want to read next as well as being able to review all previous books I’ve read. With the app connecting to my kindle it makes it even more seamless. A feature I’ve really liked using this year is the reading challenge, setting a number of books you want to read before the end of the year. This is a great motivator to squeeze in a couple extra books a year.Version: 3.26.1

Great App, could make changes for the betterThis app is great to track books, read and leave honest reviews and find new books to read. Some changes that I'd love to see are: 1. Functionality to rate half stars 2. When reading different versions/editions of the same book, it doesn't show as two different books on your tracker, it shows as the same thus cannot rate a revised edition higher than the previous, would like this to chanhe 3. Cannot format text on IOS for reviews, would be nice if we could.Version: 4.10.0

I really love it butOn the whole this app is definitely worth getting. You can get honest reviews on books you are thinking of reading and it’s just a great place to talk with one another about books you have read. It’s also a great way to track books you have read and also keep note of books you want to read. However the ONLY really annoying thing about it is the books in a year challenge. I love the idea of setting yourself a target for the books you should read this year but it seems to take ages to actually update it. For instance I have read 4 books and it’s still saying I’ve only read 1. At this point it’s annoying because I’ve seen other reviews with this same issue too and I don’t think it would be that much effort to tweak it..Version: 4.0

Love it. That said, there’s much potential for growthThis is my go to app for bookmarking (haha) books I want to read and check out what my friends and other people are reading. The shelves, the ability to read and create reviews, browsing for books, and creating a book challenge for the year are really nice, and it feels great to move a book from in progress to read. That said, the social aspect of the app doesn’t seem to be fully in touch with the other areas. I wish there were a way customize the feed you see. The friend list doesn’t seem to really refresh outside of when you first sync the app to your fb account, you can’t cancel friend requests, can’t unfollow people, and you still get a feed for people who are no longer exist on your friend list. The basic features work, and I guess there’s no other app like GoodReads yet, but the social features could be developed and polished more to give a more streamlined app. Apart from all wishful thinking, I am still thankful for this :).Version: 3.15.1

Inspiring and excellent role modelsTruly inspirational and love that tough does not just mean physical strength but mental grit too. Mind over matter. Fall off and get back up again. Some stories were frightening and sort of almost put one off adventurous activities especially the severe consequences / ramifications that can occur from an accident, misjudgment or poor planning....Version: 3.30

Kobo integration would give 5 starsVery useful. If I see a book I’m interested in I add it to my goodreads.Version: 3.17.1

Lots to likeI like the idea behind the app but could be better. Needs a better recommendations for books. Some are good but others make no sense. Overall I really like the app and use it along with the "fantastic fiction" site to plan my upcoming reading..Version: 3.8.1

Perfect for book lovers or casual readers.I usually never write reviews, but my life as a reader was totally changed after finding this app. I love books and always have, but life keeps you busy and you end up putting things aside. Well, this app has helped me find so many books I NEED to read, and it has helped me rediscover my love for reading! I really can’t think of anything to improve. I love the layout. I love the ability to make “shelves” to save books. It even lets you track the progress of books you’re reading. You can read your friends reviews or any reviews in general. I also love that they have a vote at the end of the year (or beginning, I can’t remember) for best books in SEVERAL genres and also have best of the best and whatnot. Browsing books by categories is also great because it’s helping me find different kinds of books so my reading list can be more diverse. The only complaint I have (which actually isn’t a real complaint) is that every time I click on this app, I find a million more books I want to read and there’s no way I can read them all in my lifetime..Version: 3.15.1

Not working since updateSince I’ve updated the software on my iPhone 6s I can’t get into goodreads at all. Not by any of the signing in methods. I’ve deleted it and reinstalled. But still nothing. So frustrating, I’ve been using this app for a few years and can’t review my books and update my reading challenge for the year. I guess I will have to delete and find another app. Really annoying when I’ve invested so much time in reviews etc and it’s got all my books on I’ve read and want to read ☹️.Version: 3.23.1

A delight.I still really enjoy using this app and I am still happy I am able to share my love for reading and writing with others..Version: 4.12.1

Great appGive us the ability to tag, reply, and like friends updates and reviews please!!.Version: 3.22.1

Love it but...I love this app BUT I'd love the ability to give half stars or even a rating out of 10 rather than 5. So many books are a 3.5/5 but a 3 star review vs a 4 star is a big difference in my books!.Version: 4.11.0

My Go-To For ReadingI always read the reviews and ratings in Goodreads in order to decide which book to read next. I also enjoy the lists Goodreads provides for best new books, books of all time, etc..Version: 4.13.1

Not advertised as social mediaThe only apps I use more than Goodreads are my bank app and Libby. I started using it long before I had my kindle, and the fact that the kindle connects to my Goodreads has made the whole experience even more enjoyable. This is a unique way to experience where your friends are at in life without the overwhelming TMI of social media. I also cannot rave enough about the reliability of book recommendations within the app. It seems that the more you read, the better it knows what you be interested in. I’ve been googling what books to read for YEARS and have more DNFs than I can count. Since I started using Goodreads in conjunction with Libby, I have the even larger issue of wanting to read every book on my TBR list at the same time- And that’s another thing! Goodreads makes tracking your books INSANELY easy. What you’ve read, want to read, and the progress in the book you’re currently reading. It even has a yearly reading challenge that lets you set your own goal (I’ve had to increase mine twice since January because I’m moving through books faster than ever before). This app is my favorite app..Version: 4.5.0

AmazinggggAbsolutely love this app and there is only one thing I would change about it, I wish the 5 star rating was a bit different. I feel it would be better if we could do half ratings like 4 and 1/2, think this would allow us to make more accurate ratings..Version: 4.12.1

Good way to record your readingI love recording what I read and what books I would like to read. I also like linking with friends and seeing what they read. I like the targets and the roundup of what you have read at the end of the year. Also I like the feature where you can put in what page you are on and it tells you the percentage you are through a book (although they are not always exactly accurate but they are most of the time). One criticism is the search aspect is pretty rubbish. If you get a title or author slightly wrong it seems to have trouble finding it..Version: 4.8.1

Hi Goodreads. PLEASE ADD THESE THINGSThis app is wonderful. It is almost perfect. BUT every person I’ve talked to who uses Goodreads have all been in agreement it would be a GAME CHANGER if these were added: 1) A 0.5 star option. It sounds silly but it can be so frustrating deciding if a book it 4 or 5 stars. If there was a 4.5 option for example, I think all my life problems would be solved. 2) Private ratings. I’m sure if you’re an app developer you know of Letterboxd, and for me personally, if some similar features could be added to Goodreads that would make it just *chefs kiss*. For example: one of my favorite things about Letterboxd is how your ratings don’t account to a larger average rating for a movie (but in this case it would be a book). You can rate a movie and write your OWN review describing how that movie fit into your personal taste. I would love to see this on Goodreads in a way in which I could do a private review (almost like a personal diary) rather than a public rating. Sometimes i’ll read a book and recognize it’s objectively a great book, but I might give it two starts because maybe that sub-genre of fantasy romance wasn’t up my alley, so maybe that review would be nice to have in a personal journal rather than a public one because my review is sort of niche. I hope this makes sense. :))) I LOVE THIS APP!!!.Version: 3.31

This could be betterI like the app a lot. I like the fact that I can see what my friends are reading and get a perspective on a book that they loved. It also helps me find something that is worth reading.. but my problem is that I’m only limited to the friends that has been registered on Good Reads. Granted for the fact that I can invite friends but I believe this app would be better if we could follow anyone regardless of favorite author, friends and family. There are some celebrities, musicians, and also Sober bloggers that I admire and would love to see what they are reading. I think this app can be something popular if they opened it up to more celebrities or inspirational speakers. I love my friends but I want to know what Laura Mckowen, Talib Kweli, Jimmy Fallon, and more are reading. I want to see what they find as good reads for them. I also think this would expose people to more authors and help them gain more revenue for their books. So that way authors can write more books!.Version: 3.9.6

So worth the waitCall her mine is the newest book in Melissa Fosters collection and this humble reader reckons it’s the best book she has written since I fell in love with Treat Brayden all this years ago!! This book has it all, fun, laughter with real laugh out loud moments, a hunky alpha hero and a heroine who is the kindest soul as well as some tear jerker moments. Do yourself a favour and buy Call her mine today. You won’t be able to put it down once you start..Version: 3.17.1

Bookshelf & ratings appThe app is great! I love that you can have friends on there and see what they read and what ratings they give books that they have read in the past. another personal favorite feature is that you can see your friends reading, goals and comment on them. I have a lot of books that I want to read, and the bookshelf, organizing feature is a lifesaver. Overall a great reading app to help stay organized and connect with your other book work friends! :) WHY NOT 5 STARS? Only frustration I have is that when you log a book the number of pages is typically incorrect. That results in your percentage, that the app calculates to be off. there should be a feature where you can manually input how many pages a book has so then your percentage can be accurate. I also use an app called beanstack and that feature is included, and it is very helpful! so if you use the pages feature, your percentage will most likely be off..Version: 4.4.1

Loved it 5 starsI’ve been waiting for this book ever since heartfelt lies I just adored Reed and we met Emerson at the end of that book and I was intrigued obviously there was tensions and the spark was ignited again this book was a slow burn we got to see where it started and how a miscommunication can cause so much devastation we see Reed for how great of a man he really is in every way I loved him so much Emerson was a strong heroine and her and reeds chemistry was off the charts so HOT🥵🥵🥵 the writing flowed and took us on a journey of love, laughter, and life in the best way I’m a fan Alexandra can’t wait to read the next book #cantwait.Version: 4.3.0

Great appRight now I’m 15 years old and a average reader. I use this app to track my reading and also compete with my friends over our yearly goals (they’re also readers) I do have some suggestions I would love added. Currently the books tell you how far you are based off a set page number however this doesn’t take into count the fact that based on the book it might be longer or shorter making the percent off. I would love if you could edit the page numbers or maybe select out of an array of numbers based on various copies. Another thing I would love to be added was to create a sort of filler book where you can edit it and add it to your shelves if it isn’t officially published or not yet on goodreads so it would still count in your goal. One last thing I’d love is the option to have a leauge where you challenge friends based off how many books you read with rankings I think it would make this app much more fun and enjoyable for younger or older readers!.Version: 3.31

Helps me keep my reading goalsI have loved this app since I found it. It keeps me focused on my reading goals and let’s me read about what other people thought of the books I am reading. I don’t know how the app is built, I think it must be web based, but it is very slow. Each time you move from screen to screen, it is as if each page is a loading web page. I’m just surprised that an app with this much of a support base isn’t more sleek. Even so, I still use it almost every day, and am happy using it even with the clunkiness..Version: 3.26

Recent issuesI have been using the app for a long time mainly to keep track of what I have read and to search for books that I want to read. Until recently I was extremely satisfied with the app and recommended it to many of my friends. However, the most recent update is very disappointing. Many of the books that I have marked as having read have either disappeared off my read list or gone back to my to read list. Please fix as a matter of urgency!!!!!.Version: 3.9.2

Great, but could use a little tweaksI love this app. I use it every day. (Scroll to bottom to see reason for 4 star rating.) I love to new track of books I’ve read and what I’ve thought of them, in case a friend asks for a recommendation. I like to update what I’m currently reading as I go to see how far along I am in percentages. I also like to see what my friends have read/are reading, and what they thought of those books. I LOVE being able to make a list of books I want to read, instead of slowly typing them all out in my notes app, I can just check my list here while at the library or bookstore. However, I WISH there was a feedback submission area of the app. I’d like to be able to point out when I notice a problem. For example, I must’ve accidentally followed someone recently, but it won’t let me unfollow them. Another example, I was reading “The Help” recently and was updating it as I went. It told me I was 100% complete when I was only 90% through the book. I wish there was a feedback area so I could tell the app makers about these little problems that are probably easily fixable..Version: 3.15.1

Other than porn spam, this app is amazingI absolutely love goodreads! There are so many features and I love being able to see what friends are reading, and also looking back on the books I’ve read. Additionally, the want to read list is really helpful so I can just look on it when I want to check out a book at the library. For the first year of using this app, I encountered zero problems. However, I have recently started getting random likes and follows on my account and their profiles have links to porn websites. I keep getting more and more every week and it have come to the point where I get at least one per day. Every time I make an update, it gets celebrated with sometimes up to 6 likes from these spam accounts. I’m getting tired of constantly getting notifications and then having to block and flag them. I’ve reached out to goodreads and it seems like this is a common problem, but all they told me to do is to flag it. I’m really hoping an update is made so I don’t have to deal with this spam anymore. It is getting really annoying..Version: 3.31

A quiet life expandedThis is a very interesting age gap book with the two main protagonists being at very different stages of their life journey. Despite their differences there is chemistry between them and possibilities arise along with the inevitable complications. Each of the main characters learn to show compassion for each other and new pathways are forged for a hea ending. I enjoyed the development of the characters and the characters in a rural community. Pleasurable read I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review..Version: 3.35

Useful for new readersI’m trying to get into reading and I find it really useful when I see an interesting book at the library, I search it in on Goodreads to see how other people have found it. Or I look at it for recommendations from people I follow or the general automated ones by the app. Easy to use..Version: 3.28

Perfect for any bookworm, avid reader or librarian!I absolutely love Goodreads and the app too! I use it to keep track of everything I read and want to read. It’s perfect for that! Because I’m a librarian, I love doing book reviews too! I like reading other people reviews too but never read others reviews until after I finish the book, it’s fun to compare thoughts to both people who felt similar and even to people who have totally opposite opinions as well! The only thing I don’t like about the app versus the website version, is it’s much harder to categorize your read book or put them into “shelves” I’ve found that feature is a bit hidden on the app, and easier to do on the regular website. But the app is quick and easy for just looking for books, making your read and “want to read” lists and for reviews! I can also say as a library director, I use Goodreads all the time to look up book series order for library “patrons”/my library’s members. It’s a wonderful feature for big name authors who have 20 or more books in a series for children’s series, for looking up Amish series orders or even manga volume order. Love love love this feature. I’ve also used the list feature a few times to as a librarian to look up teen books or books related to a specific theme, whether to order for my library or for a reading challenge. Love, love, LOVE Goodreads both personally and professionally. I use it all the time, at least every week if not more!.Version: 4.5.0

No Question SectionI love this app for finding new reads and keeping track of my TBR list but I’ve noticed the app doesn’t have the question section on it? So I end up using the website on safari instead of the app. Please Goodreads can you add the question section to your app! 🙏🙏.Version: 4.12.1

KarmaI truly enjoyed the book due to the characters. It also had a view point of what comes around goes around. The main character, Marcy, is a tired overworked divorced women who has a truly terrible ex. The ex before divorcing her empties all of their back accounts after she puts him through his schooling to be an orthodontist. He empty’s the account designated for his daughter’s college fund and does not pay child support. He is a liar and a cheat. Marcy is glad to be rid of him, but she is upset on her daughter’s behalf as the ex ignores his daughter. The story starts with Marcy being desperate for money. She works in an casino in Las Vegas as it is a better paying job. She works double shifts just to get by. It starts with a gamer who drops a hundred dollar bill. Marcy sees it and knows she has a decision to tell the man or not. She makes the decision to tell the man and tries to give him the money back. That decision opens up a new job opportunity for her and romance. Very steamy in the sex department..Version: 3.15.1

An excellent resource with room for improvementI use this application all the time to record what I have read and what I thought about it. Also to list far too many books that I would like to read. But it could be better. Two suggestions: 1. It would be useful to be able to import lists of books that I have read with dates, ratings and comments. These might be csv files or tables, that could be populated from on’s own lists by drag and drop. This would be a lot quicker than adding individual books. 2. Books are listed as discrete, specific editions sans publishing history. It would be really useful to have the date of first publication and whether the edition listed is a later revision and so on..Version: 3.23.1

Easy to useGreat place to see a broad range of reviews and find new books..Version: 3.9.2

Love MarriageAt first I thought this was going to be another somewhat fluff, lighthearted, bend over backward narrative portraying a childish level of adult innocence mimicking Bollywood 50’s films. I was so wrong. This book is anything but. The reality clashed with the expectation and left me impressed and surprised. Plumbing the depths of what constitutes love, the author depicts profound ways love manifests itself, sometimes when it’s least expected. An exploration of family dynamics is enlightening in that context. The beliefs underlying the psychoanalytic practice of Sandro Bartok, a minor but crucial character in the book, sums up the themes perfectly - compassion and connectedness. In order to do this, the author creates compelling, multi-faceted characters who reveal themselves believably. The author uses a wealth of research in medicine, philosophy. psychology, feminist theory and artistic movements to give depth and credibility to her characters, while not losing sight of their fallible, endearing human qualities. The story has several twists and held my attention. This is the work of an author who has mastered the craft of writing. The characters were so real that I believe they will stay with me for some time..Version: 4.4.1

Not user friendly when you startI’ve just downloaded this as recommended by friends. From a customer journey perspective, the beginning section where you ‘rate 20 books’ is quite confusing. Am I rating books I’ve read? If so, there should be a search button for books that aren’t listed rather than having to scroll through. Am I rating books I want to read? But I haven’t read them yet so that doesn’t make sense? Am I rating books based on how much I want to read them? Then that should be clearer to the user. Also that page is bugged - when I click the stars to rate, it brings me bring to the top of the page and have to find where I last rated a book. Hope this feedback helps..Version: 4.12.1

Love this App, but one Suggestion! This app has almost no faults whatsoever, but there’s just one feature that I’d really like to see implemented. It would be great if there was a shuffle button. Sometimes I just can’t decide what book on my self to read next or which to buy next if I haven’t already got it. Having a button which randomly chooses for you means that issue would be eliminated and instead of scrolling through countless books I could just press one button and have to go with that book..Version: 4.0

Love itLove sharing what I read and seeing what others have to say. Ninety nine percent of my reads I find on this site, it’s easy to use and navigate. Being able to shelve books into genre is easy. Knowing I can easily locate books I’ve loved and re-read is awesome. Your able to add books you want to read. Keep updated with your favourite authors by following them. I can’t rate this site enough..Version: 3.33.1

Good but glitchesThe app is great overall for tracking books read, and want to read etc, but there are a few glitches I’d love if developers could fix! Firstly, there are errors when updating the dates read. The date it shows in my “read” bookshelf, and thus orders them, is based on the date I entered it and doesn’t update based on when I edit the dates read. So if I forget to enter a book as I’m reading it, then I add it later and edit the dates read, it still shows in my bookshelf as the date I added it rather than my selected dates read. Secondly a bunch of books have all of a sudden converted into different languages. I get having different listings/editions for different languages, but books I added to my want to read that were in English now aren’t. Not sure how that’s managed to happen, I ended up searching (with difficulty) and finding the English version again to add, but it just is very strange! I see others have commented on this too, so definitely a wider issue..Version: 4.8.1

Winston Sees AllBook Review: Winston Sees All ‘The only well life is a true life’: the sub-title of Barry Stone’s novel Winston Sees All (Berry Press, 2023). Nobody should be denied the opportunity to live as he or she was born to do, but Stone tells of Craig and Marcus, both born gay, and the assaults on their humanity, from schooldays onwards. The story dodges back to the second World War, and the effect that a young man destroyed in the oil-covered, burning sea has on future events, and moves forward to the present day. It tells of the awfulness of some people’s actions, while acknowledging that the perpetrators can be victims of their particular histories. And it recognises the danger of suicide to which young gays can be vulnerable. Yet in this novel we also see good coming out of bad events, and it is ultimately a well-rounded story of fulfilment, with plenty of tension on the way. It is narrated by several people, but mostly, and cleverly, by Brucie the rescue dog, with Picasso the ageing parrot keeping a watchful eye on events. Most people, but perhaps especially those of us who are gay, will find in this book characters and situations that ring true. Highly recommended. David Peel.Version: 4.9.0

Loved it!It took some time to get into as I couldn’t remember the stories from the other 7 books. It didn’t take long for everything to come back and then I couldn’t put it down. I power read to the end!.Version: 4.12.1

Good but 1 easy requestApp’s great, I’m a big fan and have used for multiple years now. I only really have the one request, and it’s purely aesthetic: any chance of the developers allowing for multiple presentations of bookshelves? By this I mean a decision between potential presentations, with one option being the current list-of-book-titles format, but then another new one being more of a montage of the book covers, of the kind that the Letterboxd app does with movie posters. Purely aesthetic and obviously not a priority, would just like to see each shelf as a set of the book covers it contains, and not just a list of titles..Version: 3.23.1

Good but could be betterMy go-to place for deciding on my next book. Would be great if the ‘compare books’ function from the website was available on the app though..Version: 3.23.1

GoodreadsI love this app it is so good because I love reading I can keep track of what I have read and what I want to read but there is one problem, I can’t seem to find out how to see how many people I am following and if I could be told that or it was fixed or something that would make it five star for me. I also don’t know if it is just me that can’t find the bit where it tells me even though I think it should be in settings or on my account. Over all I love the app. 😊.Version: 3.27

Brilliant readI have been waiting a long time for Gray’s story and it didn’t disappoint. Loved the sass and humour along with great storyline.Version: 3.13

Best reading app out thereThere’s so many features that makes this app worthy of a download. It tracks all your books you’ve read, want to read or currently reading and puts them on shelves that you can either make public or private. You can scan books in just by their barcode and find out more about them (other books by that author) you can discover new books based on the books you’ve read or certain genres you like. It is social like Facebook if Facebook was a library. The best thing about the app is it’s free and only has relevant advertisements based on books or reading. All I can say is try it!.Version: 3.9.2

Great for book wormsI’ve used this app for over a year and I will say that (along with booktok) it has transformed my reading! You can do so much such as making a goodreads year goal (very motivating) and tracking your reading, even down to the pages read. You can also put books into your ‘want to read m’ write and read others rating and reviews, join book clubs and make friends with others on there! Perfect little app :).Version: 4.2.0

BorderlandsThis is a brilliant piece of writing by Ross that twines the police group together and pushes one into the forefront for the first time. Set amongst the hills and moors of the English Scott border the scenery is beautifully described even though it’s stormy. It was totally there. It’s wonderful the places I can go to with a book, and this one is no exception. The crimes are both chilling and delusional, and it is the friendship and love shared between the police group that alleviate the depravity of the crimes. So well written I was in the river, under the sheep and in the storm hiding..Version: 3.19

Time bugThe app is really good, but when I try to change the dates (I forget to put it in currently reading and then when I finish) the date will change in the edit dates part but when you go out it won’t change. I have tried restarting my phone and reopening the app but it still says the wrong date. Other than that this app is really good to keep all your reading progress on!.Version: 3.16

Healthiest App on My PhoneI think the best thing about this great app are the reviews. They get voted up by people who agree with them so the creme rises to the top. I don’t find book reviews in the media very reliable at all. They most often are positive and I’ve bought way too many books with compelling subject matter but that I couldn’t finish because the writing just wasn’t exciting enough to keep me engaged. Also you can write your own reviews. It’s cool to see what my fiends are reading too, how they rate the books - and you can recommend books to them by direct message. But the other top thing about the app is FINALLY I have a place to chart all the books I’m thinking of reading. Not only that but you can save them as well as read books in “bookshelves’ - so by the category of your choice. Now a new terrific thing I discovered - the Goodreads top 10 books of any given year is a reliable place to find strong writers. I just devoured 2 from the list. Fabulous. It has got me reading again and I am really enjoying it!!!.Version: 3.13

Bald Headed LiesBald-Headed Lies Imogene and El are back and immersed in yet another mysterious murder in Southern California. The gruesome, claustrophobic and often skin crawling discovery of guilt leads them on an adventure of intrigue and horror that kept me reading from start to finish in one sitting. Cemetery happenings, zombie history and hallucinogenics combine with the paranormal and cast of characters that lead to shocking truths about deadly deeds of human beings. Many of the captivating characters from the first 2 books in this series are back to entertain and delight us once again. Greta Boris tells their story with dramatic rollercoaster twists and spiraling turns. I love how there are always references to things in each of her books that cause me to do some quick research to expand my personal knowledge base on a wide expanse of topics. Reading references to familiar locations, streets and the SoCal interstate add a familiar and fun flare to the reading experience for residents of SoCal. Bravo to Greta on another well written book in the series…can hardly wait for “A Permanent Solution”!.Version: 4.2.0

Needs design updateLove your app but you guys seriously need a design update thats more UX/UI friendly!! it would make it wayy more enjoyable to use :).Version: 3.24

Good app thank youGenerally good but recently it has started acting up when scanning - it lo takes the book I want but displays it for only a few seconds then comes up with a screen with ‘Is this to book you’re looking for’. A bad bug that needs fixing (ps I have tried deleting the app and reinstalling to no avail).Version: 4.9.0

My favourite appLove this app! Does everything I need it to do. Scan function is excellent. Easy to use in every function I need to use: Reviewing, rating, commenting on reviews, recommending via text and email, messaging, accessing groups. Recommended 5 worthy stars! I truely LOVE this app and has used it for years. Text Messaging is probably the only other app I use more. I’m a top Australian reviewer, so I’m ALWAYS here!.Version: 4.5.0

Good enjoyed others of hers betterCheers.Version: 3.21

Page refresh needed after editsI like the app but there are some niggly issues when updating an entry. Once you think you’ve edited the dates read section then go back to the previous page, the change does not show up so you get into a circle of editing then checking, then editing again … frustrating. Also, after you’ve set a book to 'Read' your Book challenge count still shows the previous number - you have to close the app down then re-open for the change to appear.Version: 4.2.0

Great concept, but needs a fresh look!!I really love the idea of this app and there isn't anything like it that I've come across. I've used it for years and do love it - the ease of adding books to different shelves, seeing what friends are reading and also having reviews all in the same place is brilliant. That being said I wish it could get a bit of an updated look and feel! The interface is a bit outdated and sometimes slow to update and navigate. Improving this would really boost the quality of the app😊.Version: 4.3.0

Great app for book loversThis is an excellent app which works very well. I really enjoy the fact that it’s now so easy to track your reading. Pretty much any book I’ve searched has been on the app and it’s great being able to leave reviews on there, that can hopefully help others. It’s also been useful more than once when I have gone back to a book thinking that I’ve not read it yet, only to find that I’ve actually read it before - sometimes leaving a review. The one thing that I would like to see changed is for the quotes that you see when opening the app to be available somewhere for looking at/copying. It’s very annoying when they pop up for a few seconds upon opening the app, only for it to disappear!.Version: 3.32.1

This is app is goodI can definitely say it is useful. Lots of great features such as shelving books, reading lists and basically a bunch of amusing reviews on books, no matter how bad or good it is, you'll usually find someone who has funny comments about it (not trying to demean or rip the author a new one). Basically straight to the point and not being picky. Definitely some good classics to find or bestelling authors..Version: 4.2.0

Half stars pleasePlease allow half stars!!!.Version: 3.31

Recommend to anyone who reads/wants to read more!Love having a space to nerd out about favourite books and it’s very encouraging towards achieving your reading goals. I’m enjoying collecting my thoughts in a final review and it’s helping me better understand what I like to read and also nice to look back so I can recommend books to others! I do find the platform a little difficult to navigate in terms of updating what you’re reading, and I wish my feed was just what other people thought about books instead of what they’ve liked..Version: 3.29

Great appSuch a good way to track what am reading, what I want to read, and what I've already read. I use it for work to make recommendations and to find new books (I work at a bookstore) Love it. Can't see myself ever uninstalling this app..Version: 3.8.1

Amazing appI love this app! Its really good and if you like reading you NEED IT! However, I do have 2 suggestions that would make it better. First I am English so the dates are the wrong way around for me so I get really confused and can’t change it and second I wish their was a calendar page where it highlighted with different colours when you were reading certain or something. I would love my reading tracking to be more visible. But I love this app anyway and would recommend it to anyone.Version: 3.29

Love the functionality, performance could be betterAs a new good reads user, I love the functionality of this app but it feels quite slow, particularly the loading of my book lists etc, and the search. Feels a bit like an older hybrid app? Rather than a fast modern responsive native app. I’m still going to use it but I reckon it could be made so much faster which would really improve the experience and probably road to me engaging with it more. Still really appreciate it being a free app..Version: 4.4.1

Wonderful!I don't have room in my house for a bookcase nor do I have enough money to buy all the books I love and display them in my house. Therefore, when I found goodreads I found the perfect way to create a digital bookcase with reviews and all! I simply adore it :) My only wish would be a DNF category aside from the usual ones (i.e.- "Currently Reading", "To Read", "Read"). Right now I have a handful of books on my "Read" list even though I didn't finish them. I hate taking credit for reading a book when I didn't but if I take it off my list I'll forget I tried it and try to read it later. In addition, I read many books via audiobooks and I want to update my progress under “currently reading” but I have no way of knowing what page I’m on and typing in the percentage is a pure guess. In order for this to be more accurate to where I am in the book, it might be nice to have a category that tracks what chapter or minute you’re on. If this was the case I would have a more comprehensive view of my progress throughout the read. Other than these two small tweaks I love it!.Version: 3.9.2

LOVE IT!!Such an easy way to keep track of the books you read and want to read. Did I already say that ILOVEIT!!.Version: 3.19
