✓ Appalling service and hidden costsI’ve used FREENOW three times now and every time I’ve had an unpleasant hurdle. First I prebook a taxi only to incur an additional fee. Fine - I didn’t read all the tcs so I accept it. Second I try get a taxi at 3am in zone two, nothing, no drivers. Maybe it’s too late? Third time I’m waiting for my driver only to see him drive past on the opposite side of the road and cancel in front of me. And then I notice I get charged!!?? It must be some mistake but the help team claim the driver had waited for me so I have to pay up. The audacity. I am trying to dispute this because I did not stay outside in the cold to be charged considering I had to use another service and pay for a ride that did turn up. I can’t review the driver or see the history to prove I was the one left waiting. The service team is unbelievably slow to respond so no update so far. I can’t keep trying with such abysmal experiences only to incur fees or no service. I just wanted to support black cabs. Will be hailing them from now on..Version: 12.25.0
✓ UselessI set my pick up time at 9:50am, as I had to be somewhere down the road by ten but had a ton of luggage with me. Scheduled that the night before, and all was good. The next morning came and there I was waiting on the side of the street with all my bags. Ten minutes goes by and then fifteen and still nothing. I then tried to cancel that scheduled ride and get another taxi using the app, which then took around 8 minutes to tell me all the vehicles were too busy and none were available. I ended up using another, much more efficient app that arrived EARLIER than it told me. Seriously, don’t waste your time with this. I ignored the bad reviews but here I am writing one.Version: 11.2.0
✓ Buggy, not what it wasThis app has gone through various incarnations, getting worse each time. My main grips: (1) A few weeks ago payment switched from card to cash. No idea why, or how to fix it. My card details are on the app, and no attempt has been made to alert me to a problem. Drivers tell me this has been happening often lately. It’s really annoying when you get to the end of a journey and are asked for cash, especially when you don’t have any with you! (2) The ‘Help and contact’ option on the app just takes you to a blank page. No email, phone or URL are shown on the app. They really don’t want you to contact them! ✓ App ok until something goes wrongWe booked a ride to get us to the Eurostar in London for very early in the morning from our hotel. The driver did turn up but did not park in front of the hotel where we had been waiting 15 minutes but around the corner somewhere. When he was finally found by another driver, he started to drive away, with 4 adults trying to wave him down and the helpful driver tooting his horn and flashing his lights. He did not get out of his car once, nor could we contact the driver thru the app even tho it has a contact driver option, it did not work. They then charged me an additional fee as a no show. Eventually found somewhere in the app to lodge a protest, this has cost me over £20, but have not heard back from anyone. If you do use it, I recommend booking a black cab. NB… developer made contact for me to supply them more information, which I have already done twice!!! Just trying to make it look like they’re taking action on complaints but don’t seem to actually do anything when you submit a problem..Version: 11.58.0
✓ Not nearly as good as Uber or LyftOne of the perks of using apps such as Uber or Lyft is the reliability and ability to get a ride with limited communication. Neither of which did I experience with Free Now. When I’ve used Uber or Lyft, I’ve rarely needed to speak with the driver. They see where I am at, they drive nearby, I wave them down, confirm the destination, and off we go. My experience with Free Now was not this way. The driver called, and because I could not speak Italian, canceled my ride. This shouldn’t have even been a concern. I entered my destination and location. Why even call? Is the app not providing the information? Also, prior to booking, the app stated that a ride would be available in 2 minutes when in fact it was closer to 10. I nearly missed my train, and there is no reason why the app should display such vastly different estimates. I’ve never experienced such problems with Uber or Lyft..Version: 11.43.0
✓ Absolutely useless in Paris - do not use!I used the app to try to book a taxi in Paris. Nothing was available after 5 mins so it suggested I try find a ride share. It also failed to find a driver within 5 minutes. I then used another taxi app and found a taxi within a minute. I then cancelled the FREENOW trip but I was charged a 7.95 euro fee. What a joke! Now I’m trying to dispute the cancellation fee but I’m finding it very difficult..Version: 12.9.0
✓ Misleading advertising, driver was late and no refundI pre-booked a taxi for the airport for 5:30am, using a 50% off promotion that I got in my inbox a couple of days ago. At 5:30am this morning there was no sign of the driver. I had to call him and he told me he was on his way. 15 min later he finally showed up. The fair I paid had a total discount of £9, corresponding to 25% off rather than 50%. So, I contacted the customer care service through the app and I received an email back saying that if I wanted to be contacted by an operator I had to reply to the email, attaching a screenshot of my relay address as they are GDPR compliant!!?? You already have all my details and I gave you consent to contact me. This is an overkill from a customer experience pov and you should really sack someone in your compliance and marketing department. The customer support replied after this unnecessary step, completed at 6 am on a Sunday morning. I also questioned their ‘waiting fee’ policy, which applied to the customer in case the taxi has to wait over 5 min, but it doesn’t work the other way around, especially if someone has pre-booked a taxi that is meant to go to the airport. After my last email, no reply. Review your GDPR policies, your misleading promotional activities and your waiting fees in order to attract more customers, retain existing ones and compete with the likes of Bolt and Uber! ✓ Unable to configure phone numberDuring registration of my phone number, clicking on the country code, and selecting my country, Canada, it does not enter it. Tried to enter country code manually, and does not work. I tried this many times by quitting and it is restarting and still no go. So basically you cannot use the app..Version: 12.5.0
✓ Estimate times are WAY off. Canceled trip is still chargedIn Ireland. 2 minutes estimated wait time and waited 10. Later, 3 minute estimated wait time and there is no driver available. Not helpful. Seems like app developers are not interested in providing true wait-times for fear of losing users. And I have now been charged for those 2 canceled trips where 3 minute wait times had no driver available. There is no possibility of contacting anyone to get my money back. ✓ TERRIBLE, Deserves no starsMy review is slightly biased because my first time and probably only time using this App was in Rome. The drivers have bad customer service. To top it off the app will give you an estimate (just like uber) of how much your ride should cost and it was ALWAYS wrong. The drivers start the and run the meter way before they pick you or or start you at an 8-10$ base so be prepared to pay over their estimate. I understand that is how taxis work but in that case get yourself an Uber X and pay the same or less for a nicer car! The second time using this App the drivers were grouped up waiting outside a metro stop saying it had to be a minimum of 20$ base! Yes, 20$! Meanwhile I caught an uber x and paid 16$ to my hotel. ✓ Sometimes fine sometimes badUsed the app a few times to experience great drivers and great service, as well as some awful drivers and awful service! Had one driver that picked an argument for no reason and had another driver accept the job saying they were dropping someone nearby before getting me but on the tracker they were just driving and driving and driving far away from me. Why even accept the job? They shouldn’t be allowed to accept in that situation in my opinion. Anyway I’m defo going off this app, thought it was great at first. Originally I gave this app 3 stars, changed to 1. Tried to pre book to go to the airport and in the morning got a message saying no drivers available, so what’s the actual point of pre booking then? ✓ Rip-off/thief driver(s).My driver drove us to CIA airport and upon arrival stated that the payment through app is not supported so we have to pay 55 euro in cash. We did pay the thief/driver Alessio Mosca in cash and at the same time the payment was processed through app. They all lie!!! Be very careful. Company doesn’t care at all and will never resolve any issues brought to their attention. Once the payment was made the thief driver took off like a rocket and when contacted and informed that we left an item in his car, ( without knowing what the item was, the thief stated that there is no wallet left behind and hung up the phone and never answered nor texted back. ✓ Didn’t workI tried using this to call taxis in Greece and Italy and it never worked. Either I never matched with a driver or the destination wouldn’t show up when I searched. ✓ No use in BarcelonaI loaded this app to get a taxi in Barcelona. Tried for 40 minutes with no luck. Most of the time it said it was searching for a driver. The driver assigned to us made it within 250 metres of our pickup point and cancelled the trip, leaving us in a really challenging situation trying to make it to the airport on time. ✓ Still shockingly bad GPS after so many updates!I used to love the Hailo app. Whenever I “hailed” a cab with it, the driver could find me very easily since the app told him almost exactly - and I mean exactly - where I was standing. After so many updates that I’ve lost count, I went to use MyTaxi this evening, having lost faith in its ability to correctly show the cabbie where I am (past attempts have placed me several streets over or even round the corner from my actual location). THERE’S STILL NO IMPROVEMENT! Standing on Euston Road, heading westbound for Marylebone Station, the app placed me on the north side of the impassable road, heading east! This app is so bad at locating passengers that it’s not worth using. Do yourselves a favour and either revert back to Hailo or get the developers who wrote it to work on your app because until you do, I’ll use the only location device I trust: my hand to wave down a passing cab!.Version: 7.9.2
✓ Payment unreliableWhile it is very competitive on pricing I often find you can’t pay using any of your stored cards (it says processing for 30 seconds and then fails - meaning you can’t book a car. I suspect it’s a load problem and they can’t cope). I’ve also noticed lately that the “arriving in 2 minutes” quickly extends to 5, and then another 5 and it’s 15 minutes before you get a driver - so arrival calculations are being gamed. Finally, it does have a habit of defaulting to a 15% tip in every ride upfront. I don’t mind tipping for great service but it’s often not great and I later realise I just added £5 to an unsatisfactory ride. Overall it ok, but not smashing it by any means..Version: 12.8.0
✓ Don't use pre-book if you need to catch flight or trainBeware the pre-book scam with this app. It now happens twice that no driver showed up and booking was cancelled after 20 min waiting when we had a confirmed pre-booking to train station (nearly missed our eurostar) and airport (nearly missed our flight). Thank you UBER for saving us, reliably and with cheaper fare. Other hints that this is a shady platform that doesn't operate to serve their customers: once the pre-booked trips have been unilaterally cancelled by free now, all traces and evidence disappear, making it impossible to share feedback or raise the issue (you can only do so where a successful trip happened). ✓ App misses basic functionalityWhilst freenow is more reliable for drivers to show up than some of its competitors, the app misses some basic functionalities that makes it useless & miles behind uber & co. Starting with adding multiple stops along the way - drivers always ask me to chance the destination and from there book a sexond taxi, only resulting in 2x costs… in addition, drivers are unable to track your location. If you choose to walk towards them to save them time OR chose the wrong pickup, it’s incredibly hard to tell your driver. They wont see your location, and if you call them, you dont see your map view anymore. Once a driver passed me three times, and I moved no more than 2meters but he couldnt see it on his map view. ✓ Very bad appI’m from Canada and in Canada or anywhere else I went I’ve never been charged for the driver to come to the pick up location! I’ve been charged almost 8€ only for the driver to come pick us up and she was 1 min away.. which doesn’t make sense. Then the driver took a longer route which was longer than expected and we were almost late for the train that was already paid and if I wasn’t there on time I would have to pay again for the train ticket which is not cheap. Also, it was saying on the app that it was approximately between 10-12€ but at the end it was almost 30€ which we didn’t expected since on the app it was saying something else. I’ve been referred for a 5€ discount and when I received the link it was saying to apply the discount click on the link and at the end I didn’t received any discount.. I contacted the service and explained everything but they said that they can’t do anything concerning that situation. I’m never using this service again and I don’t recommend it. Not only did 2 drivers cancelled the ride but also one of them kept going in circles and never got to pick us up. ✓ Driver tried to mug meAs I had previously seen it, this was a very good, cheap and effective alternative to Uber/Bolt - certainly the new industry lead. However after getting inside of a FreeNow car that I was ushered into from Be At One’s staff I quickly found it to be not only a hostile environment but also an environment where I was made to feel like a theif and a criminal. Driver demanded cash from me which I felt was strange mid journey and told him I would pay upon arrival (especially as not such request was made known to me prior to our journey). He then pulled over outiside the bar I was picked up from and made a scene as though the car engine was faulty and I was causing trouble. Leading to the bar staff intimidating me and advising me to move on. Made my own way home after that, not trusting any of the transport options offered to me..Version: 11.21.1
✓ Poor service and fake timesThe drivers are generally solid, but the nearest driver is often 10+ minutes away and Free Now put caps on how many people can pre-book time windows. This means the time you should save from grabbing a cab instead of say taking the bus is completely lost. Additionally, the app quotes a time for how far the drive is away. These are typically off by about 2x. If the app says your driver is 5 minutes away, they’re 10 minutes away. Basically if you’re not pre-booking days in advance for an airport trip or there isn’t a cab really close to you when you request one, you’re better off with pretty much any other form of transport..Version: 11.64.0

✓ Barely usedDespite other reviews, taxis aren’t supposed to start meters before they pick you up. If they do that, get out of the car. You haven’t gone anywhere and are not required to pay for a service you didn’t use. It is not charity. Any costs that would be additional from hailing a taxi on the street should be transparent to customers, so they know what they’re paying for. The app is not Uber and doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that Uber has, but that doesn’t mean it can take advantage of customers. This was a nice idea to try and save the Taxi industry. ✓ I’d give it no stars if that was availableThe most basic and backwards app I’ve ever used. We thought we’d try this as an alternative to Addison Lee. The app is so un user friendly. You can’t change collection times or add passenger details when booking for others. You also can’t find all addresses so one person I book cars for in London doesn’t even have his exact address available on the app so I have to try and find a location near his house. Most of the drivers are rude. Today I prebooked a car for 10pm and the driver turned up more than five mins early and by 10pm had got bored waiting and decided to cancel the car yet it wasn’t even the pick up time yet. He also moaned he was in the wrong place for Eurostar trains despite me using the address ‘Eurostar st Pancras’ given on the app. They state on their app that they have only Had 13 complaints. I know why that is. Because it’s impossible to find out how to contact them to complain and when you do the print is so small you can’t read it anyway. ✓ Download this app to get scammedI used this app in Spain, 4 times and all of them the drivers charged between 2 to 4 euros more than what The taximeter shows, some of them also charged extra tips. I called the support and they just came back to me without explanation just saying the charge was correct. Do you want to get scammed? FreeNow is your app. You can use Cabify or Uber in Valencia instead. Avoid surprises that spoil your holiday with this app. Update base on response: “I did contact before and the only response was from Gustavo saying the charges was correct when obviously is not, 2 to 4 euros was always extra charged here in Valencia after each trip. ✓ Poor Service, Poorly Designed AppI booked a ride to go to Catania airport at 4:15 AM but decided against using FREENOW because previous prebooked rides had been canceled and refunded without notice. The help section instructs the user to cancel a prebooking by accessing the “prebooking” section in the upper left corner of the main screen, but there is no menu on the upper left and the “trips” section in the upper right menu only displays past trips. This makes it effectively impossible to cancel a prebooked trip from the app. I also attempted to get a ride from the Vatican to the Colosseum at 15:00 on a weekday and the app was unable to find a driver. If you’re traveling in Italy and looking for taxi rides I’d suggest asking your host or hotel consierge for assistance instead of wasting your time on this app..Version: 12.13.1

The app waited until 4:10am to display (once you check the app, no notification) that no driver was found. I ended up using Uber and I had to wait for another 25 min. ✓ RubbishHad an awful experience trying to get from Heathrow airport to London city - first driver cancelled on us, second pretended to pick us up (started the trip on his app) before cancelling, app didn’t update properly so couldn’t contact the first two drivers and showed the wrong number plate for the third driver which made it hard to find, eta for pick up and to destination were false, could only pay with one of four cards for some reason and transaction declined first two times. ✓ Worst travel app availableBeen using MyTaxi since I have been in Barcelona, for the first 2 days it was good. I had no problem with using the app to get myself from A to B. But my last couple of holidays I was using it, it crashed and stoped working. I could not use the app, it was constantly freezing and would barley work. I was totally reliant on this app as I don’t speak Spanish and it’s hard to get a taxi in Barcelona as it is. I was always leaving early from the bars so I could get myself home. If this app actually worked I would of been able to enjoy my night life more but, unfortunately it was a let down. For some reason Uber does not work in Barcelona so ‘MyTaxi’ was the back up option. For me it will never be a back up option and forever be one of these apps that could have been, but it has instead ended up really lacking quality in its services. I felt that ‘my taxi’ was a trusted service which I relied on .. however this was not that case and I will certainly not be using this application in future. If only Uber existed in Barcelona, hopefully they will resolve the issue with Uber as this is the superior taxi service as I have realised from using ‘MyTaxi’. ✓ Decent but pre-booking is a let downGenerally, the app works well. You get loyalty points and occasional perks like discounted rides etc. Decent options for the type of vehicle you would prefer and an option to pre-book a ride… except… pre-booking a ride doesn’t guarantee you a ride! Which is a huge let down. Not really sure what the point of pre-booking a car is if the app simply just searches for a driver at the time you specified. I wish I had known this before using the option, as I was left in a bit of a panic when no driver could be found on the morning that I had an important appointment. I live in Australia and sadly I found out that this app only offers places in Eastern Europe meaning that you can't book a taxi any but Eastern Europe. ✓ Doesn’t work well in RomeIt worked as expected one out of four times we tried using it in Rome. Twice it said a taxi was two minutes away but then when you try hailing one, it takes 5+ minutes while it is trying to hail one and then it times out and no taxi after all. Very frustrating. One time I set a booking for later in the day at 7pm for a 8:30 pickup. It said it would notify me when a driver has accepted the booking, which I expected to happen soon after setting it, but nothing happened. Then a few minutes before 8:30 it said the driver was on its way (while we were trying to hail a cab “the old fashioned way” because we assumed the app wouldn’t work). ✓ Mix feelings about itI downloaded it in Portugal and used it first time paid cash, second paid by card and the third time couldn’t use it again to pay by card luckily I had enough money on me as I was coming back from the hospital , sent an email and was sorted , used it again and was fine but now since I had credit add it to it can’t pre-book even I’m on the 4 days timeline as it keeps going to today date and now time !!! Already sent email but no reply and as I need it for this early morning I’m thinking I’m going to use another company as can’t risk not having taxi to go airport ! Bit annoying as I have a £5 credit on it that runs out next week so would be perfect to use it now when I need it as at home I have a car !! Please sort it and reply quicker to emails as a taxi is an more or less an immediate need . ✓ Pre-booking does not workI’ve used hailo, mytaxi and now free now for over 4 years on a regular basis (average 10 a month). This is by far the worst app version (hailo being the nicest). Pre-book feature used to work in mytaxi just last month and today I pre-booked a 5am exec taxi to the airport and instead the app suggested 4.35 as 5am was fully booked (?). I chose the suggested time, pressed save and nothing happened, no feedback whatsoever in the app. I waited for the taxi and a notification at the time of booking but again nothing happened and taxi didn’t turn up. I googled and browsed the app website to see if any screenshots of the expected app behaviour but there’s nothing out there to help. This experience has really changed my perception of the app and service and I will not trust it for any pre bookings. I do not recommend using this feature and am considering changing to Uber. Very sad to see what used to be a good app and service change so much over last few years in such a negative way..Version: 9.1.0
✓ Absolute disgrace - never trust this serviceI pre booked a taxi from central Rome to the airport 18 hours in advance. 15 minutes prior to the 8am pickup time we had a confirmed driver. ✓ Disaster and zero customer supportThe app’s policy is to check you’ve got available funds before assigning you a driver - fair enough. But they do this by “taking” the money from you account as a Pending Transaction (and pending transactions affect your available balance, even though they haven’t been completed). Finishing a shift at 3am I tried to get home from the hospital. I tried 4 different options (private hire, black cab etc) via FreeNow - none of which showed an estimated ETA of more than 10 minutes. All 4 “rides” eventually came back as “no driver can be found.” 48 hours later, having walked home 45 minutes in the wee small hours, more than £60 are still “pending” thanks to FreeNow. Who insist that the release of these funds is nothing they can affect. The bank says the only person who can remove the pending transactions is the merchant (so FreeNow are either uninformed or lying). If you work for the NHS (with the minimal salary) and it’s the end of the month, £60 off your available bank balance due to laziness from FreeNow becomes quite significant. ✓ Slower than ItTaxi not helpful with taxi scamTried to use this app several times during recent trip to Rome. (We had a large group with limited mobility and so had to take taxis a lot.) Many times My Taxi (now Free Now) could not find a car while ItTaxi would find one almost instantly in the same location. The drivers we did have were all great except for our last which is the reason for the 2 stars. He deliberately scammed us with a fare inflating route taking us on the “scenic” route of Rome when we were trying to get to Termini on our last day. We kept asking him to take us directly to Termini and he just agreed but continued to drive past the Vatican (which was 15+ minutes out of the way itself), the Pantheon, Forum/Colleseum, etc. A 20 minute trip turned into an hour a €58!!!!! We were trying to catch a train and didn’t have time to argue with him at drop off. He also dropped us off on on a side street instead of out front. I contacted Free Now support about the fare. ✓ Basic app and quite expensiveI travel to London for work and previously used the Hailo service and app which was useful as I was able to store frequent journey types, with addresses, eg accommodation to work. In London this week I used the app to call a taxi, I couldn’t find any way of inputting my pickup or drop-off address, or re-using a previous journey to order again. If these function exist, it’s not obvious. There was no estimated fare shown as I hadn’t been able to input a destination, only a minimum fare. A car was quickly found and it “arrived” within a couple of minutes. Unfortunately, he wasn’t at my pickup address but two streets away - presumably where the location finder had decided I was at the point of ordering! This was resolved by telephone call. . The normal fare for this frequent journey with Hailo was approximately £15 however the MyTaxi driver took an unusual route and on the meter the final fare was £22. I do like the convenience of MyTaxi, being able to track where a cab is plus the security of a car registration and named driver but there are glitches to iron out with the app. I’ll give it another go next visit and hope to see improvements in the app..Version: 7.6.3

I let my bank know the charge was legitimate and the charge went through. The service is generally good however there is a glitch with the app not updating the driver's progress so it looks as if they're not moving. Today's fare was stuck on '7 minutes away' for ages, but when I called the driver he was less than 1km/5 mins away. He said when he picked us up that he is experiencing the same problem frequently, with people cancelling when he's just round the corner because they think he's still 10mins away and is taking too long. The same thing happened to us yesterday but the driver didn't answer when I called so we did end up cancelling when they were probably not far away. We had to be at an appointment at a certain time so we then had the uncertainty of what would happen. He didn’t turn up at the location requested but we could see from the app that he was in a car park across the road so we headed over to find he had picked someone else up and told us he was cancelling our journey because we were “late”. So not only had our original taxi cancelled, our replacement had turned up late, in the wrong location and had taken another fare and within 60 seconds had refused us. We then had to scrabble around Berlin and in the end had to end up getting 2 separate taxis (there were 6 of us) and only barely made it. ✓ It’s a great app depending where you are.I am updating my review. There was a mistake made but it’s been taken care of. I love the way it’s run in Germany. Used it way too much running late to work but it was worth it. In Paris I took it a few times. It’s a private car, not a cab like Germany. So I wasn’t expecting that. I had a really crazy driver yelling at police to move out of the way and cutting cars off and creating a huge block in traffic ended up with a lot of honking. When we arrived to my destination I said it is right here. He said no it’s not. So I started to yell and he let me out. The biggest problem with the app in Germany and Paris is the same. It will find you a driver but then the car just sits there. Or will go in circles or go the wrong way. I took a taxi from Dublin Airport to my home taking only streets. When I got home, I looked in the app where you then see the charges and rate the driver. I noticed a toll charge of €1.50 plus tip that I added. There was no toll taken. I contacted FreeNow and turns out the driver charged me the €1.50 parking charge to exit the parking lot where he picked me up! You also can’t see this charge on the receipt that FreeNow gives you or when looking back on previous trips in the app. You can only see it that one time when you rate the driver. ✓ Misleading PricesHORRIBLE SETVICE. I used this app to find a ride from my Airbnb in Rome to the airport. This app, prior to booking, it gives you an estimated cost for the trip, just like Uber, but I ended up paying 20 euros more than the estimated cost. At first, I was okay with the price, but when I paid I realized that the driver had added an additional 5 euros for God knows what. I didn't want to argue with him, but instead I decide to contact customer service so I emailed them. They told me that “per their local taxi regulation, supplements could be applied on top of the metered fare for luggage and for extra passengers, from the fifth passenger onwards.” And I understand that, but I booked a car for 5 people only 4 made it, and each of us had 1 luggage avg. less than 50lbs. So I don’t understand where this charge came from, I felt scammed. It would be nice if they disclosed this “supplemental charge” before hand and their estimated rates weren’t so off. For now I wouldn’t recommend using this app to anyone- I wish I would’ve used my preferred option, Uber. They are more reliable and I can always count that their estimated prices are always on point. Just today, inexplicably VAT at 19% was added the the quoted fare after the fact (in Germany). I am not sure why they are playing these games but I am growing weary of it. Update: contacted customer support. They told me that the prices shown in the app for “ride” fares are suggested prices and that surge pricing may apply. This completely contradicts the in-app display which for “ride” fares uses the word “guaranteed”. This is super murky. Most people may not even remember the price quoted. But I take the same route a lot which keeps getting quoted as €9.90 and then it winds up costing almost €12 before tips. ✓ Disappointing experienceI recently had a series of disappointing experiences with the FREENOW taxi app during my stay in Rome, Italy. I booked a ride 24 hours in advance. 15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time, the assigned taxi driver called me to say, he is in another town too far away to pick me up, and that I should cancel the booking. Then he hung up on me before I could reply. I still needed to travel so I didn’t cancel my booking. After 5 mins when I hadn’t cancelled, he called me again saying he can not come and I must cancel the booking. I replied “this was pre booked, it’s not my fault if you can not pick me up, you should cancel from your side”. He hung up on me again and then the app showed my booking was “searching for drivers”. I waited a few minutes but it didn’t find any drivers. Then I cancelled the booking with the reason that no drivers could be found. I ended up using Uber for that ride instead. ✓ Stay far away from this app!I was taken advantage of by the taxi driver. Not super sure he was even a driver as there was no signage on his van. I paid 10€ for a cab from the airport to my hotel about a 8 minute drive. My flight back was at 6 am so I knew I needed a taxi and this app was my last hope. I scheduled the taxi the night before for 4:15 am and the driver came on time. When I got in I looked at his phone on the stand and he had not pressed the button that he had picked me up. I asked him in English and Spanish and he pretended he didn’t understand. I was thinking he was going to kidnap me. We did end up arriving at the airport and he still didn’t say he even picked me up on the app. All of a sudden he spoke English and demanded 40€ for a “night time fee”. I had no choice as this dude was twice my size. He pulls off and I get a notification from the app he canceled the taxi. This is SO dangerous on so many levels. I have a picture of his phone while I was in the van and a email confirmation for this trip. Of course I can’t report anything on the app because it says problems with previous rides and he canceled it so it’s as if it didn’t exist. ✓ Save yourselfFirst time using the app, I was unaware that I’d have to tap the app to confirm the payment (which was double the estimate). I thought like UBER, the money would automatically be taken from my card (which I had registered). I was then harassed by the driver with calls, I told him it’d do it when I have a few minutes- as I was in a rush and was at work, which he knew. He then went on to call my work (my destination), I was called in and told I had a taxi driver waiting for a payment which was highly embarrassing (this was 20 minutes after my completed trip).I booked the taxi to help save time and reduce stress from my busy morning as I was late. I have now lost money (double the fare estimate) and peace of mind. I now understand why UBER doesn’t allow both the driver and passenger to have direct contact numbers- as this driver now has my home address(pick up location); work address (drop off location); work contact details (he googled?), my contact details(provided by the app). ✓ Uber is more trustworthy and reliableI ordered a taxi through this app as I had an early morning flight to catch from Warsaw to London. The fare quoted was in PLN and a range was given which I was happy with. When the journey came to an end the fare was more than double that quoted and I had no way of communicating this in polish to the taxi driver. After complaining about this, mytaxi didn’t understand the concept of making the price clear before booking, offered me 30 PLN voucher and said I could use it again when I’m back in Poland. There’s no proper complaint process or way of escalating it further and they’re getting away with mis-representing prices and misleading customers by not giving them enough information to make an informed choice. ✓ Beware - a “confirmed booking” isn’t a booking!!!Basically works the same as Uber except it hails black cabs. HOWEVER, as I’ve now found to my cost on several occasions a booking isn’t a booking at all - either on demand or in advance. I’ve had drivers accept the job in the app and then cancel enroute to me - the app provides no ability to feedback when this happens or blacklist them from future jobs. When you make an advanced booking for say early the next morning to maybe catch a specific train or a flight!!!, you get a message saying “booking confirmed”. This isn’t true - there is no booking made. The job is issued to the mytaxi driver community on demand taking into account the journey time between your pickup and drop off location. If no driver is available, or they accept and then decline the job, you’re in trouble as there’s no time to find an alternative and get to your destination in time. ✓ Scaming Taxi driver in Rome ItalyI order A trip to a restaurant was quoted between €9-€13. The taxi driver which accept the order took us to another route. While we were insisting to go to the destination he kept saying "1 minute" eventually he return us to the right place. Not yet, the most fun part is now, he entered on his phone app €25 and make us go to our phone an accept the request. We were freaking out. We thought we only pay the amount posted before we accept the ride. The driver getting aggressive and make loud commen in Italian. We disagreed to pay that amount. After 15 mins back and forth he reduced it to €15. We had no choice but accept the request. Luckily we used an American Express credit card. The card issuer agreed with my case and refund the trip amount back. If you wanted a smooth trip, go ahead a book an Uber ride. ✓ First impressions matterI downloaded this app in Dublin. I then immediately deactivated and deleted it. I had attempted to use it at the airport and selected the pickup pin location that was closest to my arrival terminal. The apps pin location must have been bad because the driver was unable to find the identified spot on the app — the pin location was right next to the official airport taxi stand near the local transportation buses. After failing to find the spot the driver asks me to find him — this was after I initiated contact with him because the app said he had arrived but his car, as shown on the map, was no where near the pin location. That is when I requested he cancel the ride. ✓ Absolutely terrible service and extremely overpricedI used this app since it advertised itself as being cheaper than competitors and also offered a 50% discount on the first 2 rides. I used it to get a cab due to major cancelations on the stansted express train. I was charged 20% more than uber and on top of that I never received any discounts. I reached out to customer service and they didn’t provide a credit or correct the charges. The driver also only made 75% of the fare which is taking advantage. ✓ They over charge you after you bookI have used the app a couple of times and it was ok, sometimes they don’t have any driver but expected as is not as big as other apps. What is not ok is for them to change the price AFTER the trip. I made my booking as usual and it displayed x price, but when I got home I got charged more. When contacting customer support they said there was “high demand fee” which I explain to them it was not the case when I booked as the app didn’t say so - they didn’t let me know at all there was a price increase so I can decide whether I want to pay extra or just not make my booking. Their customer support didn’t seem to listen or understand and didn’t do anything. So here I am, overcharged and nothing I can do about it. In Lyon, we scheduled a pick up, it showed the driver on the way, he never arrived and instead cancelled right at the time he was supposed to pick us up. My wife literally watched him drive by without stopping, bags (and open parking spot!) on the street. The next driver accepted and then cancelled, and then the app timed out. Apps like this mean that drivers concentrate around areas of high fare concentration, because the driver chooses where they pick up their fares from, i and others have waited over an hour to ‘find a driver’ when in a suburb, or in an awkward road traffic area. Worse I’ve had drivers cancel on me after accepting. It is therefore impossible to plan for time with this app, especially when critical timings like flights, or theatre entry. I’m Italy if we were quoted a 10 euro estimate for a ride across town, it would routinely end up being 15 or 16 euros. This may in part be due to Italian taxis starting their meter when they start driving to come pick you up... which the app should still be able to calculate since it knows exactly where the cab is when you hail it. The app could be improved a LOT if local taxi fare calculations were explained within the app. I thought maybe our driver was ripping us off by starting the meter at 6 euros when we first got in, and also the rate per km went up a couple times as we drove. ✓ Please read - pls be aware !So I downloaded and used this app for the first time recently, I can say that the first time discounts are so good (50% off), it literally took less than 5 minutes to book and for the cab to arrive which i was very happy about. Cons: so once I got the discount my original journey price was £16. discount = £8. fair enough right? wrong. They took a holding payment which they said they would return right after the journey was done? fair enough right? wrong. so in total they took the £8 + £16 = £24 which is more than the actual journey itself. once i got to my destination, the money was not returned. I used them again the same day and the same thing happened totalling = £50 coming out of my account which was not returned immediately. ✓ Poor service in LondonI was in UK for business trip and booked my taxi via freenow at arrival. I wasn’t too much concerned by ordering by freenow before I experienced 2 forced cancellation in UK. Already user of freenow in France, I feel ok for its service. But by arriving in UK, I tried to book taxi, for two times… all failed… For the first time, the driver seems to stop somewhere nearby and waited for me to cancel the trip. I had to do so as I need to travel directly to my office that morning. And I re-booked another trip with them, this time the driver seems to come to pick me up, but after several exhausting conversation by calls, the driver couldn’t make it to come the the location I was, which is the exit of the saint pancras international station. Long waiting after about 3 quarters, I was so very much disappointed and suffered by this experience. After my business trip in UK, I contacted the customer service for these 2 forced cancellations that charged me 12 pounds, I got a 6-pound voucher valid during one month in UK, which doesn’t serve anything for me, as I only stayed in London for a week for business reason and complaints raised after this stay. When I try to cancel the ride, the app tells me that I’ll be charged for doing so, in order to compensate the driver. ✓ Impossible to delete accountMy experience is Freenow are obstructive and use tactics to stop you deleting your account. Freenow requires you to submit a request to customer services, in this day and age most apps allow users to delete their account within an app. I had to submit repeated requests over 10 days, then got an email stating my account is deleted but I was still able to log into the app with my apple ID . Freenow have admitted that even though they ‘deleted my account’, if I log into the account with apple ID, a new account is automatically created. The sole purpose of me logging with apple ID after freenow’s supposed account deletion was because I didn’t trust that Freenow had actioned my request. On no other app I have used, does signing with Apple ID after a genuine account deletion, automatically bring up my personal data and ‘recreate a new profile’. In my opinion if Freenow had done a true account deletion, this shouldn’t happen. If my data still appears it suggests it is still stored on the Freenow app, which I don’t think is compliant with GDPR or DPA. I would not recommend this app based on my experiences. ✓ Misleading Estimates and ChargesUnlike Uber and other ride sharing app the estimates you get before you order your ride is not to be trusted. Expect to get charged double the amount. When you enquire about it, support will only tell you there are too many factors involved and there is a fine print stated that it is in fact only an estimate. ✓ No punishment of crooked driversThis is a functional app. Often faster than Uber. But customer service is garbage. I had a driver accept my request with no intention of picking me up (car didn’t move). If I issue a cancel request I would be charged, no matter how long it takes. Estimated pickup time was 1:42. 2:01 car hasn’t moved. I wasn’t going to give the driver the pleasure of collecting, so I held on. Then I booked an Uber. Driver cancelled a few minutes later, I didn’t let him win, but I still lost time. Can’t even send a complaint to Free Now, because the app is deliberately designed to not receive any complaints. ✓ Hopeless. This app has gone downhill. So poor.Tonight was the third time I have had a catastrophic failure trying to use this app and been left stranded. Each time my booking was accepted and never arrived. This time I called the driver who said my booking had disappeared from his screen and was no longer aware he was providing it. On the app it reported the driver was “1 minute away” half an hour after the booking was denied by the driver which still looked to be valid. I was left late and frustrated once again by this app but at least know better than to use it ever again after contacting the driver this time and finding the truth. It’s a shame as my early experiences with this app were positive all however it now seems a complete liability. This app should be classed as a lottery rather than transport. ✓ Don’t use this in RomeI used this in Rome recently on my way to the airport. After my ride was delayed and punted from driver to driver, I ultimately cancelled while the driver was 10 min away and called a more reliable UberX. Couldn’t risk being late for my flight. I was charged a €5 cancellation fee. Fine. No problem. The driver then texted me and called me a “bastard”. He showed up where my wife and I were and began yelling at me from his car. We started walking away and he FOLLOWED US glaring at me the whole time. Our UberX showed up and we got in, he gave me the finger and followed us for a little bit before turning away. Customer support was non responsive to my complaint. So unless you want to be overcharged or harassed, I suggest sticking with Uber. At least in Rome..Version: 9.6.0
✓ Don’t recommend this app, competitors are simply betterI really liked the app at first but then drivers would accept the ride and found a better deal with another app elsewhere and would just leave me standing outside, waiting for them, watching them to drive further away from my Pick up location. They won’t cancel the ride themselves or answer the phone - if they cancelled themselves their rating would go down. So they just keep the ride as ‘accepted’ and wait for YOU to cancel it. Happened to me three times and resulted in me being seriously late for an important meeting. Not at all reliable and the drivers are having a laugh….. Free Now sent me an automated message and completely refused to deal with me. Not sure where they are based but the customer service really is quite disappointing. ✓ Worst AppWorst App , it does not even allow to input your Local phone number. I signed up using Apple ID & as part of registration process it asked for Phone number, app shows all countries International code however it does not allow to select any country code hence can not complete the registration process. ✓ Massive conDownload the app and booked a taxi. The driver arrived and told us to cancel the app and charged us almost double in cash. With little options at theatre time we decided to go ahead. Very misleading app and would never recommend anybody else to use it. Stick with Uber for Oka as the price on the app is what pay - not like MyTaxi..Version: 9.0.0
✓ Fake info and unreliable serviceNumerous times I ordered and the information was saying that it would be one or two minutes to arrive instead it ends up being 10 minutes or more and then the driver passes you bye right in front of you as you’re waving and takes off in a different direction and then cancels and have to wait for another and another and it’s a pain and I could’ve walked to my location faster and there’s no way to remedy these things in the app and the only way to call a drivers to make a long distance call internationally and that’s a problem. ✓ Don’t use for pre-bookingA couple of days ago, I had booked a FreeNow black cab for a 5:00am pickup today to the London Eurostar international terminal, to catch an early train to Amsterdam. Literally at 5:00am today (21st September 2022), the app sent me a notification that no drivers were available! I was then scrambling around to find another (any!) cab at the last minute, across the FreeNow, Uber and Bolt platforms, to make it to the terminal in time. This was a stressful experience, as other drivers were either not available, too far away, or cancelled my booking (Bolt drivers get unlimited cancellations, FreeNow drivers get only three per week). I live in north London, zone 2, it’s only a ten-fifteen minute drive to the terminal from my home, but when no cabs are available it suddenly feels very far. This business model of assigning drivers at the last minute only, does not work for international travellers who need the security of a confirmed booking, particularly for early morning or late night trips. FreeNow (and other platforms) need to figure out a way to honour pre-bookings, to international terminals in particular — it can’t be that hard! In the meantime, me and my family are going back to using the old minicab companies, who do a much better job at this usually. Drivers show up early, and if no drivers are available for an early morning pickup, you find out a day or two in advance, not at the last minute..Version: 11.52.0
✓ A company that provides no customer serviceIn answer to my previous review (below) I received a terse message from the developer saying that the company MyTaxi provides customer service by email. However this is entirely false. There is no customer service by email- they do not reply to emails. There is no customer service at all, and I believe this is a major, serious flaw with the service. All potential customers should be warned- do not use this app service. If something goes wrong there is no one to contact- and they have your credit card details so they can do what they like and you have absolutely no recourse. There simply is no one you can contact. This company should not be allowed to trade at all on this basis. Providing customer service should be obligatory. All in all, my review is - beware. Do not use this app. I have been using this app for more than a year and I take up to 3-4 taxis a day and I have spent a great deal of money with them. However I cannot recommend this company, in fact I strongly recommend not using it, because if there is a problem, as I have experienced, the company provides no customer service and doesn’t even have customer service. ✓ Dreadful serviceUPDATE: Best thing you can do with this app is hit the delete - there are many other options out there that actually work. Developer sent a message back asking me to contact them to discuss it further - I’m not wearing my time contacting YOU. It’s for YOU to contact me. You’ve got everything the wrong way around. I advise you to stay away from this company. I booked a cab today on Sat 5 June 2021 for 14:00. Informed it would pick up between 14:00-14:10. At 14:10 I was informed there were no drivers and to try again. I tried again and told there were no cars available - well don’t confirm a booking in the first place then!!! That is quite a simple strategy to grasp. I booked the cab 1.5 hours in advance so if you can’t work that out then there is no hope for this service. I ended up getting the train, tube and walking - you can rely on these three modes of transport more Free Now, what a joke they are. A terrible experience. I won’t be using this poor service again.
