Gardenate for Positive User Reviews

ExcellenceI've been looking everywhere for a good garden planning app for beginners, and this is by far the best I've found for telling you when to plant what, according to your zone. Lots of other helpful tips, too....Version: 7.9

Great app....butI love the app. Great info for a non garden savvy person such as myself. One improvement would be to have a chat forum for each plant type. This way if you are having trouble growing a particular veggie, you can chat with other gardeners with help and advise. This could be accessed by any one thinking of trying to grow the same item.Version: 7.9

Wonderful app!I have told many friends about this website and now I have the app to boot! If I have nothing to read while waiting for appointments i just browse the app to see what I can plant In my garden. Fantastic guys. Will you be working on a general garden app as well so I can tackle flowering plants ? Brad..Version: 5.2

Happy GardenerGreat App for tracking plantings and recommended veggies for you zone. Live the wishlist for tracking what I need to plant next month. Amazing response from Chris the developer if you have any issues or questions. Would recommend this app for small or large gardens. I am at 17 garden beds and counting..Version: 13.2

Worth itI really like this app. It has been very helpful in planning, planting...basically managing my garden. The only thing I wish I could do is create a "to do list" of what I would like to plant for each season. Even with out that, this app is very helpful..Version: 5.1

Gardener's best friendReally handy app for enthusiastic gardeners of every persuasion, I'm a qualified horticulturalist running a permaculture system & use it all the time..Version: 10.2

Good AppVery useful app but would be better if multiple images could be imported at one time..Version: 10.2

Good helpful app for vegetable gardenersI have had this app for a while but I’ve only just started to use it and I didn’t realise how much it had going for it. It’s a great app for all of the details that you need from when to plant all the way to harvesting things. The calendar is my most useful section, it’s better than keeping a journal etc. the diary is another great section which I have only just started using as well. All in all it’s a great app and it’s got everything I have been looking for all in one place, thanks for the app both of you.Version: 16.0

Nice Compact Little AppI always need to have my plant lists and keeping paper lists for seed starting, transplanting, harvest dates, and seed shopping throughout the whole season makes them super messy, lost or forgotten. This is an awesome app because I can take out my phone, pull up my lists and I can do it anywhere. In the garden or in the store. No messy, lost or forgotten lists. The reminders I get by email or on my calendar are set for my Montana Zone 4a planting times. I winter sow a lot of my seeds so the dates for starting indoors are the dates I set up my seeds in my winter sowing containers. Each plant i.e. Tomato, can be set up with each variety i.e. Brandywine Black, German Johnson, etc. for all your seeds. No more buying more of the variety you already have and wasting time and money. This app is wonderfully supported by the developer he gets right back to you. He's available by email or phone. I like to design my garden on paper so if you want an app that you can design your garden on, this isn't it. No yearly fees either!.Version: 10.2

This is ace! This is worth the download - gives you planting times, self-notes and a description of all plants. I had Gardenate as a email alert, but this is going to be great as an App. Would appreciate a "fallow" option in My Garden though..Version: 4.1

Awesome appLove this app it’s perfect for what I was looking for and has all the information and settings I wanted. Just awaiting on the first notification from the calendar for sow times! Exciting and well done developers and creator/s.Version: 10.2

It got betterI tried this app a few years ago and then gave it up for a year to use a notepad. I am glad I came back to it. It looks and feels far better. As a diary of your vegetable gardening it is the only one I have found to be worthwhile. The calendar is excellent and adding your own varieties is easy. The diary is great for seeing what was sown on any particular day. I use this app in conjunction with a garden journal so I have everything covered in the detail I require. Give it a try, well worth having a look at..Version: 14.3

Very handy gardening tool!Very useful. It's a sow-when calendar you can carry in your iPhone, and also contains some handy diary and record-keeping functions; for example you can tell it when something was sown and it will suggest a harvest date for that plant. Cute and useful!.Version: 2.3

Better than the free onesI think it is very easy to use. I like being able to add my own plant varieties and photos, and share the garden diary with my ipad, which I prefer to use inside. Certainly worth the dollar something I paid for it!.Version: 7.9

Best gardening appGreat, very helpful app. I'd really love if it sent push notifications a day before harvesting time, and if I could "save for later" plants in the list, so I can have a nice wish list of things to plant, particularly with a notification that its time to plant those I wish listed..Version: 5.1

👍🏽Well thought out app, well done guys.Version: 10.2

Just Marvellous! What a brilliant way to start a garden. Everything is organised for you, whether you are planting a seed or seedling in any given month, you have all the information you need for a successful crop! From germination through to harvesting, care and advice, your climate conditions are also included. Highly recommended to all AAAAAA+++++++++ Oh and one last thing this app is way better than those cards you get in a folder, you definitely can't go wrong with the price, superb value for money indeed!!!.Version: 7.1

Love it!Absolutely love this app, particularly the calendar section. I am learning so much about what to plant, and when, using the monthly calendar. Takes the guess work out of planting at inappropriate times. I’d love to see ‘new entrants’ to each month section, compared to the last month, highlighted so I can easily see what is new/coming into season..Version: 10.2

Best Garden Recording AppI have been using the app for about a year. As I have added containers to my garden the app is perfect for keeping track of what is planted, expected harvest date, seed starts. I love the diary for recording.Version: 10.2

Very HandyReally handy app to look forward and plan your veggie plot. Because its accessible it means you can try planting out different crops compared to the tried and tested ones. Could in future have hints and tips on seed keeping and preserving each item too. Much cheaper than buying a poster and fits in your pocket while you are in the garden..Version: 0

Veg growing just got easierAt last here's an App that helps you keep ahead with growing veg. Simple to use, lets you add in your own varieties, list companion plants and also what to grow afterwards in the same plot. Best of all are the hints of how to prepare the veg for storage and eating. Ian.Version: 5.0

MmExcellent app. Tells me what I can grow each month, and what companion plants they grow well with. That's all I need..Version: 7.9

Good little appDoes what it says on the tin! Great for the newbie Gardner ! All the info for what veggies to plant, when and where! Including rotation.Version: 2.4

AwesomeI love this app! It’s very easy to use and helps me keep track and plan for everything. Great job team!!.Version: 10.2

Perfect for beginnersVery easy to use, perfect for beginners and great for seasoned gardeners. One of the biggest challenge to beginners is knowing when to start, what to plant, when to harvest. This app answers all those questions and helps us keep track of what has been planted and what to plant next. It would be great if there is a way to access the garden journal across different devices. I'd give it 5 stars if it dried that..Version: 5.0

Love itI love the Gardenate app. I’ve been recording in a paper gardeners diary and am just beginning to use the app for recording this season instead. I’d love to be able to set reminders for succession planting and I wonder if this is a feature that could be added in future updates? Or maybe I just haven’t discovered a succession planting feature quite yet?.Version: 16.0

AwesomeFantastic app , studying horticulture this year and this has made life so easy , brilliant ..Version: 5.1

Great gardening helper! This app is great in providing guidance for gardening. It is well thought out and easy to use, and allows one to keep track of plants in his/her garden. Will be great if pictures of different plants are added in the 'plants' database so that those of us new to gardening can see what a certain plant or vege looks like without having to Google it..Version: 0

Great Garden HelpA fantastic app have been using for a few years so good to be able to check back on what you did before and whether it worked, and advice on not only when to plant but soil preparation and lots more..Version: 13.2

AwesomeI have been using Gardenate for several years which I have found to be extremely handy for my obsession of veg production. The app on the phone takes it to the next level whereas before I was jotting notes to remind me what I had planted and when. now the app does all that for me, BRILLIANT. Thanks Gardenate go this Love it.Version: 14.3

Good companion, first time grower.I was really impressed with the simple and intuitive interface on this app. It makes planning what to sow and when really easy, I also really like the extra info that is included such as tips on crop rotation and what not to plant near/next to each other. A good guide for the beginner or those looking to expand the range of vegetables they wish to grow..Version: 7.9

User friendly design, love it!Love the simplicity of this app. Straight forward to use with fantastic information. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a productive garden..Version: 10.2

Great value and simple.Simplicity - makes ‘gardening for idiots’ straight forward and understandable without too much additional detail!.Version: 10.2

Luv gardeningGreat app, wish it showed pics of the vegetable when you select to add to your list..Version: 5.0

Good trackerThis is a good gardening app as you can change your location, with a little more work i would give a 5... possiblitly of adding the temp of garden beds to adjust germination period, and check ins for when you water them would be awesome.... some sort of loading bars as to promt when you should transplant things, and then again for how long till you will be havesting food. very good tho notes are usefull. would be grate if you could attach pictures of each crop...... and update things like facebook or twitter....... but definatly the more useful of the garndening apps still..Version: 0

Great for beginners and experts alike. This is a handy little app for keeping track of crops and getting info on planting and harvest periods. I like the new version with the addition of harvest periods so you can now track when you planted and over what period you harvested. The addition of the wish list will also be helpful. I am sure that in the coming versions more plants/varieties will be added. Two green thumbs up 👍👍 (yes I know they are yellow 😜).Version: 9.0

Love it!A perfect planting scheduler and log that allows you to add your own plants to the database..Version: 5.1

Inland AustraliaReally well put together app that is very handy in the garden. Thanks for adding Arid! Also it needs the ability to add plants that aren't listed - it doesn't have Passionfruit or Strawberries!!! Adding picture of the crops you plant would be another great feature..Version: 0

Gardenate best programI like program, very handy and useful following suggestions enhance feature 1 Currently in "My Garden" you can add maximum 7 vegetables please make facility of 30 to 40 type 2 User should have opportunity add more veges in plant list Your response greatly appreciated Suresh.Version: 4.1

Functional and information richWhat an excellent app. Really handy that it can be localized for so many places, including good ol' NZ! Information is concise and relevant. The "Planting Now" section will inspire you to try new plants for your locality. Would be nice if "My Garden" had a full blown calendar viewer so you could look ahead to what you did this time last year and get organized early. Also a graphical front end to help with garden layout? Looks pretty tight on an iPad screen, really deserves to be developed in an iPad version. But even so - IMO it is still the best out there..Version: 2.4

GardenerAs a farmer and gardener, this app has helped with keeping me on track. Thank you!.Version: 14.2

Great appGreat app and easy to use. Very informative. I'd like it if would help guide me more around companion planting for rotation beds..Version: 7.9

Great app ... Just one suggestionWhat a fantastic app. Have not found anything nearly as good. I used the gardenate website previously so was stoked when I found out there was an app. This is the first time i have actually paid for an app, and it is certainly worth the couple of dollars! It is great that i can keep track of the seeds planted directly in the garden, but i would love to see an option for planting seeds in punnets on the app, so that I can keep track of those as well. At the moment I have put those in notes...Version: 5.1

My best new Vegy Gardeners friendIts the simple things that are so good This is perfect and makes vegy gardening so much easier. Great value for money will be using for long long time.Version: 7.1

Pretty good so farI am excited to use this coming up for fall and spring. I would love to see Bell Peppers added - only see Chili Peppers and I’m not sure if it is the same parameters or not..Version: 14.1

One of the bestHas a great catalog of vegetables Keep a record of what your growing.Version: 15.1

Excellent, but could have more. This app really is excellent. It's let me keep track of sowing times and probable harvest dates, also let's me know when some veggies are struggling to mature in normal times. Please add a feature for successive sowings of the same crop. Currently limited to one sowing date. Cheers, love it!.Version: 4.1

Garden BeginningsFinally an app for the tropical gardener in AU! Love how it tells you when & what to grow for your climate. Am working on 1st veggie patch so have been researching diff vegs & this allows me to keep all the info in 1 place! Thankyou! 5 stars! (Will there was a section for fruit trees in future updates?).Version: 4.1

Finally!I have downloaded many of the other garden apps trying to find one that ultimately would let me make notes in the calendars. This was exactly what I was looking for, too bad it look me a month into the growing season to find it!.Version: 9.0

Just what I needed!I know it's not free, but it is soo worth the money!! It's just like having your great grandmother in your pocket with all her helpful gardening knowledge :) it's very specific!.Version: 5.1

Great appGreat app, lots of info. Love how it tells me what's a good plant to plant for each month..Version: 5.0

More Accurate Than DiggersHad been let down badly by Diggers suggestion for our Cool climate. Gardenate is much more accurate and so easy to use. Need to use common sense though as not all autumns or winters are the same....Version: 10.2

GoodGood :).Version: 7.9

Happy customerGreat app. Can't wait to really put it to use this Spring..Version: 4.1

Cheers for thisReally like this app. When I'm out in the garden planting I just flip out the iPhone and check what plant grows best with what and away I go. Love that I can add what and when I planted. Great that it's for NZ. Thanks.Version: 4.0

Perfect!Exactly what I wanted! A way to keep track of what I've planted & when as well space as any growing notes... Has plenty of info on plants as well. Updated version allows you to add your own plants which is great so I can track the progress of my flowers too!! Thanks!.Version: 5.0

🤩A very fun and easy to use app! I love that you can make your own ‘garden’ and add your own plants to the list. It has a great sowing/planting calendar tailored to your climate zone you can hide plants you won’t use. There’s a detailed information page for each plant with a straightforward planting schedule, non/compatible plants and other uses. Some feedback: ‘NZ Spinach’ could be placed under the list as Spinach (NZ) for easier locating. A ‘help’ button from the menu (I already forgot what the plant numbers mean). The option to add photos to diary entries or individual plantings. Overall, a very cool app to have and worth more than the price. Thanks to you and your mum for taking the time to make it!.Version: 14.3

Great appThis is a great simple to use app and with only one day ive logged all my recent couple of months plantings. Everything is in pots as i live in flats with no gardens. Labeled my pots and seed trays and hopefully are more organised with the help of this app!!.Version: 10.2

Information AppThis essentially an information reference application + built in note taking. Good, well presented info..Version: 4.1

Pretty cool, worth buyingI plant seedling as a hobby (hopefully someday as business) I'm using the app to parallel my written journal. I love all the info they have on varieties, I was able to advise a friend on planting tips for a veggie I don't plant. Great resource! I will bump this up a star to five at end of season most likely. Great pair to lunar planting app.Version: 5.1

Brilliant App and helpful in responding to requestsThanks so much!.Version: 10.2

Clear, easy to use garden app!Really pleased with this app as it simplifies gardening life immensely. Happy to see it have companion planting included as well as crop rotation planting guide. The planting calendar at the top of each vegetable/herb is really useful too. I have another app for vegetable gardening, but I use this one predominantly - well done!.Version: 7.6

Great for the kitchen gardenA great tool for telling you what to plant each month of the year according to your climate zone. Has the added benefit of allowing you to log what you've planted and keep notes about it's progress. Thanks to this app I've started journaling my kitchen garden adventure!.Version: 7.5

PerfectCouldn't ask for more. Just about to start on my brand new vege garden in a cool, NZ climate, and looking for some guidance, esp on rotation. This app has everything..Version: 7.1

Great appThis app is very good. Not only does it provide information on the planting group of your veggies etc, it tells you which plants to plant after it. The best part of this app, however, is that if a plant isn't provided in the database, you can add it yourself. Currently the section where you add a custom plant's planting group makes the app crash, so don't activate that section. Otherwise, great app!.Version: 7.9

Love the upgradeThe new look is great!! Very handy app for the backyard gardener. 👍🏻.Version: 10.2

Fantastic AppWahoooo!!!!! This App is great it notes when to plant and harvest each veg for my area (Australia). Highly recommended. Version 4 gets a big raspberry!! Won't open now Version 4.1 working a treat with loads of new info and no lost data. Thanks for a speedy fix - you rock!!.Version: 4.1

I use it every time I plan and plantFantastic App that continually informs and inspires me. Whenever I want to make a decision about what to plant; when; and where, I check my Gardenate App and it’s there for me. Then, it tells me when I can harvest. I wouldn’t be without it..Version: 10.2

Love this appI just got it a few days ago. I wish I had bought it earlier. It is so practical and useful, not just for beginners but also for experienced food gardeners. I absolutely love. And you can download the notes to your laptop, which is great for record keeping of weather conditions, etc..Version: 7.0

Potential to be a fantastic appLove the crop rotation and companion sections and the harvest dates. To make this app even better it needs photos, a built-in calendar, ability to rename plants once added to your garden for specificity, more plants like lemongrass, misome, cardamon, galangal, fruit (what it needs now, how to take care of it), a smoother and more professional-looking interface, an explanation of what beds you name (I think you name 6?), and what to plant now based on date. Thanks for a half-clever app, keep going!.Version: 3.0

Great!Have subscribed to gardenate via email for some time now (free!) & get invaluable info monthly. So great to have it all in my pocket now when I'm out in the garden! Simple & easy to use & info detailed & so useful:). Can't wait for updates:) but think it's great even as is!:)) Highly recommended..Version: 0

Useful appThis is a great little app to customise for your own garden. I would like to see a few enhancements, such as being able to forward plan the garden - choose what I want to plant & when, set the plot size so I could see what plants take up how much room & help with rotation, add plants to garden now or in the future or to notes from the plant list menu. It's a good app & can become great with a few additional features..Version: 2.5

Very easy to use. This is a fantastic app, I have had veggie gardens for years and my wife bought it for me and I first thought it a bit of a gimmick, but after using it I am a fan. Gives you quick reference notes and I love the fact you can note down what you have planted and when and in the notes you write things like what garden you planted it in etc. I also use the notes to record my rain fall. Highly rate this app..Version: 10.2

New update doesn’t have search option when entering new plantsILike the new updates making it look more modern but now when I enter a new plant to my garden, I have to scroll through all plants to find the name. Before there was a search option which was very good. Bring it back..Version: 13.2

Fabulous App.What a wonderful little app. Well worth the price. Simple and clear. I love that you can add to the existing inventory but that it is already quite comprehensive. Sweet app icon too. This has everything I need without confusing extras. Thanks!.Version: 5.1

Gardenate is THE best app aroundThe one app I would never delete 🌱🌱🌱.Version: 10.2

Love itThis is such a great app. Please add flowers that bees and pollinators love . Would be really helpful😊.Version: 14.1

Great pocket appThis will be super helpful when sourcing new seeds/seedlings & preparing for the coming seasons. Thank so much * A great addition would be a seed register.....Version: 14.2

Awesom App bit confusedHi Admin i am new to gardening and i have some querries. I am from Rotorua NZ Chilli peppers also Hot peppers Capsicum sp. Jan F M A M J J A S O N Dec S S T T P 1 Recommended growing months For chilli S = Grow in seed trays T = Transplant seedlings P = Sow seed in garden 123 = Your Plantings Germinates at soil temperatures between 18°C and 35°C Germinates in 8 to 20 days Grow in seed trays, and plant out in 4-6 weeks Space plants 40-50 cm apart Harvest 9-11 weeks. Wear gloves to pick 'hot' chilies Now can you please explain this for me When you say grow in seed tray is it indoor? Is that for if its August and Sepetember? Transplant seedlings does it mean if its one did germination on tray its time to transfer is garden for the months october and nov? And again if its dec month one can sow a seed straight or does ot mean can do germination straight on garden mean? And what does 123 mean? Germinates in 8 to 20 days does it mean it takes 1week to 3weeks and Grow in seed trays, and plant out in 4-6 weeks does it mean once it get germinates after 1-3 week count again 4-6 week then plant out in garden? And again Harvest 9-11 weeks. Wear gloves to pick 'hot' chilies, does it mean once you plant out count again 9-11 weeks to harvest? Please clarify.Version: 14.2

Amazingly UsefulThis app does it so well, nice and easy to use and comprehend, great plant info, handy features..Version: 13.1

Useful and simple!Very nicely put together app! No unnecessary and unreliable features just simple and useable. I use this every couple if days and its great. As other have said an expansed list including flowers would be useful. Also if you could input your locations/beds and select one from a drop down menu when planting. This would also allow you to schedule by bed (i.e. bed 2: tomato, parsley etc). This would be very helpful. Keep updating please!.Version: 5.1

AmazingFantastic programme. Does everything it promises and more. Thank you for making my garden planning so easy!!!!.Version: 2.3

Gardenate rocksGreat app. Inspires as well as being practical. Love using it..Version: 5.0

Love it, but plantings always defaultsI love the concept of this, but every time I put a planting in, I edit the number of days to harvest, and save. It will save the first time, but if you go back into it, it defaults back to the system harvest days, pretty frustrating! Any way around this?.Version: 14.2
