✓ What happened?I bought this game ages ago and it was great. Very simple, fun, addictive. It had its own charm and deservedly deserved its spot as one of the main iOS games along with the likes of angry birds and plants vs zombies. Now it's all changed. An update has removed features as it changed to a free to play game. I bought this game when it was good and now it's free and different. The added ads disrupt the mood and I find myself disappointed by the premise that the game has been tainted in an attempt to still get some cash with an old game. It was a great game..Version: 1.9.5
✓ Don't see what all the fuss is aboutBought the game... then my respect for a lot of players went downhill because as far as I can see this game is almost unplayable. I have to keep my finger on the screen and swipe the same fruit at least 3 times before it registers a response. I simply don't think its responsive enough and it ends up being a moronic swiping fest where i feel fustrated and cheated that it isn't registering my touches. There's nothing wrong in other games. ✓ You NEED Halfbrick+ now3.0.1 already changed the “Classic” feel and wiped most of your progress and all of your high scores. Hated it, but fine, I’ll get them again. But forcing people to sign up for Halfbrick+ and not letting them play without it? They’re just out of their minds. I paid for this game! I don’t care if it is a free membership, I shouldn’t need it to play a game I paid for. What’s better? They claim that it helps them as developers. Seeing this after this whole update fiasco is such a slap in the face. I don’t mind developers taking new directions, but there are way better ways to go about it. For now, I highly suggest everyone avoid buying anything from Halfbrick until they gets this whole mess sorted out. ✓ Answer me this.Tell me in gods honest truth, how am I to match the sheer magnitude that was my previous highscore. To say that I am disappointed would be one of, if not, the biggest understatement known to this inferior race called humans. You must understand that this highscore is everything to me, and now you have brutally raped me of my one and only achievement. Please give my highscore back, if you must know, it was 1642. Also please bring back the money blade. I worked my heart into getting 74,000 star fruit, and shed blood, sweat and tears, to then find that I had been robbed from my glory and the blade had been removed from this game I once considered my only friend. ✓ Not worth it's high praiseThe game looks great and the response from you swiping is solid, but there's virually no challenge. Just swipe back and forth, stop when a bomb shows up, then swipe again. Way too easy and repetitive. I know it's cheap but honestly I don't feel it was worth it. Another overrated app. Played it a few times. Won't be going back. You've been warned. (Also, why do people who think this game is great just write three words or less like "addictive and cool" or something? ✓ Swords aren't working, so many bugsSo many new blades!! Oh, sorry, did I say blades? I meant bugs. So many new bugs. Comet blade no longer creates the gravity waves Piano blade gets rid of bananas instead of turning them into frenzy bananas If I get a notification, like low battery, the game will think my fingers are where ever they had been when it popped up, and sparks or stars or what ever visual effect of the blade I was using will stay flying out of the spot. It will only go away when I force quit the app. If I used two fingers, the game will act like I'm using four and switch apps. Then when I come back, the game thinks I'm still touching my fingers there and will tap or cut anything underneath until I force quit the app. This has happened when I'm only using one finger a few times as well. Also, as someone on level 54, I would like to be able to earn more blades when I reach new levels. There's a blade on level 60 and level 100. It's just not as fun..Version: 2.4.0

✓ Disappointing UpdateI used to really love fruit ninja and it was actually the first game I paid to upgrade on, that was to gain different levels and to mainly REMOVE ADVERTS! I paid for this game to remove anything that is slowing me down between games and now that I have the new update, the adverts are straight back, we paid money for a reason! Also on my previous version of the game I had earned every background, every blade and achieved all of the targets! All of this has been taken away and is now gone! I also do not like the faffing about in between each game, this should be something you pick up in your spare two minutes and you have a go at beating your high score, not having to worry about levels! My app is now freezing, kicking me out of the levels, lagging, and kicking me out of the app completely! ✓ Latest update ruined everythingI’ve been playing this game since it first came out and when I opened the app last week I found that all of my years of progress has been whipped and the blade mechanics replaced with absolute garbage. I thought the point of separating a classic version was to preserve the old game while the developers can experiment with a current one without ruining the classic version! I don’t care about the other ones this was the only fun one left and now it’s ruined with an awful and confusing luck based blade leveling system. All of the amazing and imaginative blade and dojo effects are replaced with random minuscule effects that isn’t even unique to the blade (they are repeated on multiple blades) only happen when you slice a certain fruit and only have a tiny tiny chance of even happening unless you level up the blade more which you don’t even have control over! ✓ Can’t play without signing upI recently saw a promotion for this game that allowed me to get the “ad free” version for free. It’s a nostalgic game, so I thought “why not”. Enjoyed it for a half hour, maybe less, then it prompts me to ‘sign up or login’, with no way to exit the screen. Even force closing the game and then reopening brings me back to the same page. ✓ Update Wiped All ProgressThis update has to be one of the worst decisions I’ve ever seen. Yes, the interface looks nice. Yay. But this update completely wiped out all of my progress—I’ve spent hours and hours playing this game (literally played it for almost a day straight during the pandemic) and now you’re telling me I have to go through and unlock it all over again? WTH. Plus, I had at one point unlocked a special holiday Ghostbusters dojo and blade. Where are those? Are you telling me that everyone’s purchases were wiped as well? Why on earth would any sane developer do this?? If you value your time and money, stay away from this app. It’s no longer Fruit Ninja Classic, or at the least, it’s apparently an amnesiac version of it, since the developers apparently forgot to keep everyone’s progress with the update. Where's the fun in "elite" achievements where basically all you need to do to earn them is spend a lot of money. ✓ Won't even open, company won't fix.I paid for full copy. It won't end open on my iPad. I do have a gen 2 iPad so it is older, but have never had any trouble with any other apps. I tried deleting and re-loading. It still won't open. I get a load screen then it shuts down. I tried contacting the app support who sent me an email ticket number for tech support; Which they have never responded to after the initial ticket number. I have gone on the web page and resubmitted for tech support and again same thing, got an email with a ticket number and then crickets, no responses to further requests for support. No responses to requests for updates. No response for request for refund. It has now been almost 2 weeks and no actual response from any real person. Just automated replies with ticket numbers. This app publisher obviously likes to take payment, but does not care enough to even support or fix their problems. I have not even been able to get a refund. ✓ I want my money back.This game used to be similar to the older versions of the free to download "fruit ninja". now, it has been massively changed, and is no longer fun. -the dojos now seem to no longer give any effect -blades and dojos, as opposed to all being unlocked by leveling up are now unlocked completely differently. the old system, while tedious, guaranteed unlocks at a rate consistent with game progress, which is no longer the case. -missions used to work like this: 3 tiers of missions. tier 1 missions gave 100 XP and 2 of any 1 random powerup(for the most part). tier 2 missions gave 200 XP and 2 of any 2 random powerups, and tier 3 gave 300 XP and 2 of every powerup. also, missions would reset every time they are completed, replacing itself with a new mission -now, they seem to give either starfruit or xp, and seemingly at a dramatically reduced rate, and only 3 missions per day. -blades' effects have been messed with, and some blades with existing effects now have none. I will say, the game looks much nicer, but with the massive gameplay changes and the unlocks being reworked, it's not as fun as it used to be. tl:dr: The game has turned from the working existing version it once was, now into the same unfinished "game" the free version is..Version: 3.0.1

This would be 5 stars if you fixed the bug with the navigation bar and let everything else stay the way it was but now it’s got the crappy grindy system (that the Apple arcade version already had) INSTEAD of the REAL fruit ninja classic experience. Full review: Fruit Ninja Classic used to be really good but they’ve updated it and completely ruined it. Before the app used to be Classic Fruit Ninja like the name but with the latest updates they’ve made it so you need to do a slot machine to get xp to level up and to upgrade blades. That’s right, they added gambling. Not only does this make levelling up and upgrading blades extremely slow but is also literally gambling. They’ve also added new blades and dojos, which sounds great but they’ve removed the dojo powers and made it super convoluted to get the powers for any blades you’ve unlocked. Before you just got the power up with the blade. However, clearly the worst thing about this update is that you MUST sign up to Halfbrick+ to continue playing the game after a certain point. When you first go back into the game there’s a prompt to sign up to Halfbrick+ but you can x out of it. However, after you play a few games there’s a pop up that asks you if you want to sign up to Halfbrick+ to support the developers with the only option being continue. Once you click continue you are taken to the sign up to Halfbrick+ prompt like the first time you went into the app after the update but this time there is no x. There is no way to remove this prompt without signing up (well I assume signing up would remove it, I wouldn’t know since I didn’t sign up). Even if you completely close the app it just shows you the same prompt without the x. I don’t understand why they ruined the game like this by adding freemium features. I’ve already paid for it. Previous review before edit: This game is really great and is way better that the free version but there’s a really annoying bug where when you close the app on any phone without a phone screen by swiping up on the bar at the bottom when you go back onto the app the sparkle from the blade is still there on the screen from where you put your finger to close it. The only way to get rid of the sparkle is buy completely closing the game from the app switcher before you open it again which is really annoying. This game is perfect otherwise and this glitch is the only thing stopping me from rating it 5 stars..Version: 3.3.3

✓ So much for Fruit Ninja “Classic”I paid for this version of the game hoping to play the same version I enjoyed while in middle school. Trying to compete with my friends for the arcade high score, having classic games that went on for days. Everything just feels so different. I can understand wanting to iterate and update. However, halfbrick has three versions of this game? Surely such a large shift in mechanics could have been left for one of the others? I don’t know. In an age of corporate bloat in gaming, it makes me disappointed to see one of the mobile classics reduced to a grindy, rng based upgrade system. Fruit Ninja is still there, the core gameplay loop is still there. The nostalgic feeling is gone. That favorite blade/dojo combo you had when you were younger won’t work anymore. ✓ Terrible UpdateI originally installed Fruit Ninja in June of 2010 and decided to redownload the game a few months ago out of boredom. It was almost exactly how I remembered and I enjoyed passing the time by playing. However, all of that has changed since the most recent update. This new update is terrible. Blades no longer have their unique functionalities, the new layout is impractical, the achievements have all been changed and everything that I liked about the original game is now gone. Oh yeah, and all of the power-ups I’ve earned through playing? Those are gone too. This was one of the few games I still enjoyed on the App Store and now it is completely ruined. You can monetize your game without removing all of the features your players loved and without overhauling everything that has withstood for over 13 years. One issue I really have excluding my data loses is that they removed the restart button and now you have go press x and wait for a longer time and then play. ✓ Why did you update 😭I bought the game for 1.99£ and unlocked technically most dojos and most blades, I was at level 27 and it was my go to game for fun since all the other Fruit Ninjas are extremely too basic, this one reminded me of the old version. I bought the 5th anniversary blade which was my favourite. But with this update the dojos are extremely basic, the blades have to be fully unlocked (even the blade that I bought). This is extremely disappointing. Now it’s like any other game, very cheap, very basic, hard to progress since now everything is about competition (I find that very boring above all if you want to have some “Me time”). ✓ Silly new featuresIf it ain't broke, don't fix it. Fruit ninja was good. The graphical update is welcomed, but it's full of unnecessary characters that bring nothing to the game and now there's ads on an app I paid for? It takes longer to get into a game now after listening to characters ramble on about stuff I don't care about. The core of this game that made it good was how simple it was. Also, what's with telling me to sign up for halfbrick to see my friends scores now? iOS' Game Center worked perfectly fine to see friends scores. ✓ Very DisappointedATTENTION HALFBRICK; It is very disappointing that you are not addressing the issues of multiplayer to numerous customers conveying THE SAME COMPLAINT. People on the same wi-fi network are not able to play against each other through Game Center. These issues include but are not limited to; (1) issues of some people having sent invitations and the correspondent not receiving anything at all (2) an invitation has been sent and the correspondent has accepted but the game does not progress beyond the ‘waiting’ point. The player who has invited only sees “waiting for friend to accept” even though the correspondent has already accepted, while the correspondent only sees “waiting for player to start the game”. While other major application retailers readily and briskly respond to customer complaints and release bug fixes, it seems you are producing updates but not the correct type. Yes you do update with more features in game play but you aren’t at all addressing the fundamentals. You advertise that Fruit Ninja offers multiplayer capabilites but there are severe problems which are you completely ignoring or taking far too long to address. You have complaints that were made more than six months ago and yet there is no clarification as to whether you are repairing this or not. Please organise yourselves Halfbrick. ✓ Not classic anymoreWhat’s classic about a version of fruit ninja that feels as drawn out and ad-ridden as possible? I’d rather pay a one-time fee to get a version without ads. Th upgrade system for blades also draws our the play time in such an arbitrary way. ✓ Good, with downturns.At first, I had serious doubts on buying this app, because I thought the gameplay might be quite limited, however I take that back. Fruit Ninja is definitely an essential app for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, however it does have a major downside. And the downside is the new multiplayer feature, using Game Centre. Sure it's a very good idea, and is very amusing, but when you're many points ahead, the game instantly gives the other opponent a chance to recover, and can mean you loose the game. This may not bother some people, but my friends and I have found this a very annoying feature. If this game could be fixed so you all have equal fruit, then instantly 5 stars..Version: 0

Nothing beats angry birds, if you are thinking of getting a game and want it to be addictive then angry birds is the one for you. ✓ What’s the point?A new engine is great and all, but the fact that I had to do some unauthorized shenanigans just to migrate my save is crazy. What I’m NOT a fan of is calling this “Classic” when you’re gonna keep messing with core gameplay stuff and add in a Jetpack Joyride slot machine. Where are the power ups? Where are the added abilities of the backdrops? Why does the leveling system look like yet another battle pass? Where are the other characters, why is it only Sensei? ✓ Pft, downhill.I have known this game for a long time and loved it. It was great you could cut up fruit what else would you want? But now that I've re downloaded the app and played for a bit, I noticed the drastic change from how a nice and playful game turned into incredibly bad aggressive competition against bots which are near-instant fruit cutting skills. What really bugs me is that it throws your fruit in but has way more of the opponents fruit so it is harder to hit without touching the opponent's. But the computer just hacks and slashes at the fruit without meeting your fruit. Han is already at a level of professionalism and that is only the middle. In conclusion highly not recommended for people that love old Fruit Ninja, but is okay for super competitive people..Version: 2.3.0

✓ BlahI am rating it 3 stars because I wish to seriously adress my issue with this game. Its too slow! Its reluctant to go into the game and it grows gradually slower and slower the more you play it, so im forced to close the game, shut it and reopen it. Then I need to look at the title for ages and finally it loads. Online is especially atrocious, to the point where it even crashes. Please make it faster because its so fun, addicting and id love it that much more if it wouldnt lag and crash all the time. ✓ The new update killed my love for this gameI used to love fruit ninja but this new update makes the game so unrewarding to play. The new system to get blades and upgrades them through blade pieces makes the game feel so unnecessarily grindy. I have so many starfruits and virtually nothing to use them on because it’s rare that I get enough shards to actually upgrade my blade. My suggestion is to either (1) Ditch the shard system entirely and allow the player to upgrade the blades without the shards at all using starfruit or (2) allow starfruit to be used to buy the loot crates that give blade shards. Additionally, what purpose is there to removing the dojo powers? It says that the dojo powers are coming soon but the majority of the dojos already HAD powers I don’t see what reason there is to go out of the way to remove the dojo powers and release the update before adding them back in. In a system that is already so unrewarding it’s really annoying to receive dojos as prizes for leveling up and they don’t even help you because they don’t have a power. Hope halfbrick changes their mind and reverts both gamed or at least fruit ninja classic back to what it once was..Version: 3.1.1
✓ What’s happened to it! 🫤I’ve been playing the original Fruit Ninja for a long time now. I’ve already got to level 48 on my phone. I’ve always loved playing it but today I went on it as usual and realised that it was completely different! Everything was made to be new and upgraded after a recent update and I know it’s good from your point of view but I really don’t like it now. 🫤 Do you think there’s a way you could make the original Fruit Ninja game before the update into a separate thing. I know that’s a lot to ask and you probably won’t read this review at all but I basically few up with the old version of the game. Is there a way to preserve the long time classic?
