RacquetTune - String Tension for Negative User Reviews

Not accurate at allWaste of money, newly strung racquet at 53lb, app only give 40lb, tested a few more, none of them even close. Don’t buy!.Version: 7.6

Bogus. Save your moneyDoesn’t work plain and simple. I knew better. Just a toy..Version: 7.1

Pretty inconsistentI place the phone on a table, lay the racquet about an inch above it and use a wooden spatula to hit the strings. It has a delta of +/- 4-5 lbs and is hard for me to trust..Version: 7.6

It is what it is.I got it yesterday, and tried it on several racquets I had to string. It does a passable job. My problem with this type of thing is it measures tension, in lbs. or kgs. As such, there will always be discrepancies of a number of units. What you are looking for when you measure a string job is consistency, or the drop in measurement from when it was first strung. Such metrics are better stated in units that have no particular relationship to units of measurement. Since there are literally hundreds of strings on the market, it is possible, even probable that there is no linear information for the string you are using. Granted, you can get close with the information available, there will be variations, however slight, which will give a somewhat false reading. The best way to use this app is get a measurement, regardless of variables and use that number to determine consistency between racquets strung at the same time or between string jobs on the same frame. You can then check unit change over time and how much playing. One more thing; there will be differences of measurement between frames that are supposed to be exactly the same. This can be due to stiffness in the head, etc. so one can never be sure the measurements will be exactly the same, regardless of who strings the racquet. Okay, but waste of timeThe app has a few good options, but I just need a tool to give me the right tension. Just strung 2 racquets at 52lbs , followed the instructions closely and tried it out. It gave me 42, 41, 43... then I tried with the other racquet: 44,45, 44lbs. Pretty far off and the little circle takes forever to go full. Tried different configurations and played in the settings as well.. For me it's a waste of money and time to use this app. Uninstalled from my iPhone..Version: 6.1

Not too bad.Only reviewing for badminton equipment. When you save a string pattern it won't show up correctly in the description. You also have to dig into the menu every time the program starts to select the low tension setting. Missing some string pattern combinations as well. Would be nice to be able to enter the number instead of picking it (both for pattern and area). Still trying to get accurate string values but seems to be ok for the most part..Version: 3.01

Could be betterBit sensitive & complicated.Version: 5.8

Not accurateDon’t waste your money.Version: 7.6

Great concept but unreliable for meGreat idea but I kept getting different results- too inconsistent to rely on..Version: 0

Not consistent or accurate90% of the time I could no get the app to pick up a tension despite following the guides Racket strung at 47lbs confirmed on ERT tension tester machine. When I got racket tunes to pick up, it showed 58lbs. Used the correct string set up. At best this app might be able to tell you which of your rackets is strung a bit tighter. But that’s all. Just a gimmick. Wouldn’t waste your money.Version: 7.6

Usable, but needs to be finished.Reduced the score because the online database does not work currently and is giving string factor values of zero. Often it starts giving much too low readings- switch in and out of the app and it's fine- don't know why it does this. Sometimes the reading "creeps" up to the right figure- means you have to hit the strings lots of times- annoying. Also the default setting for expected tension is stupidly low- 55lb/25kg is too high for it even though this is the most common string tension. Why have a default that will be wrong for most people? The history can only use kg even though lb could show a lot more. Would be great if more strings were in the database. (And if it worked...) It would be also great if it could have a database of racquets and common configurations as well as strings..Version: 5.3

Worked ONE TIME (maybe?)Gave me a number like 27lbs in a racquet that had been strung at 58lbs and played about 50 hours. Then never again another reading using the exact same thing to tap with. Do not get ripped off! Save your $4 and buy a coffee instead..Version: 7.6

Not reliableIt doesn’t give you consistent tension. It gives me different tension every time. Total garbage..Version: 7.6

Doesn't work with hybrid stringsI'm using hybrid strings (VS Touch and RPM or Solinco Tourbite) with different tentions for mains and crosses and couldn't get a consistent display. Spend quite some time to try to get the string factor setup right with no luck..Version: 7.6

Not accurateDoesn't seem to be very accurate..Version: 6.1

Very Frustrating!Crashes every time the 'list' button is pressed or when you try to delete a racquet!.Version: 3.0
