✓ Cloud syncing brokenWhen I opened this app recently, all of my cloud saved notebooks were appearing as HTML files and not accessible anymore..Version: 6.5
✓ Utter DisasterAfter years of loyal use, Notesplus’ switch to iCloud backup caused me to lose hundreds of notes. Years of hard work and notes down the drain. And to restore from my backups are a nightmare. No way to import back in and converting into a PDF does so but loses my screenshots and photos that were inserted. I’ve switched to Notability after months and months of begging Notesplus to help out. What a shame as was a wonderful app to use. Goodbye,.Version: 6.3.7
✓ Best writing to text app, but lacks in other areas for collegeNotes plus is a good app, but it defiantly has some issues. No drag and drop is an issue. As a medical student, I use multiple note apps. One to take all the notes in, and another to condense all the notes. For this I like to copy small parts of diagrams, and place these pictures next to a brief description of the drug or disease. Notability is the only app that I have seen do this. I can paste these pictures into some apps. The lag on Notes plus on pasting more than one picture between apps is 5 minutes. Notes Plus also seems to struggle more with larger documents. Yet I like the smoothness of the writing in this app. The Handwriting to text is best in Notes Plus. Selecting which pages to import is also nice. Being able to see more pages than notability is nice. The search feature is one of the main reasons notability is the best college app, and the file organization is great. Good notes has one feature I love. Once you select the defect shape feature it is east to quickly highlight and get very straight lines. That feature makes pre-lecture reading a faster process. I like many features of many apps, but none of them are prefect. One feature no app has, but I would like to see is the ability to add several pictures at the same time from photos to a document. Each of these photos would be their own page. This would be of great use for many university students..Version: 5.2.1
✓ It’s now become uselessI used to love this app, it was a great, flexible and powerful way to make notes that would be searchable and converted to text. I used it for years! Now, this version pops up a window ALL THE TIME telling me to upgrade. Every 2-3 taps. I thought about it but if this happens in the old one, I don’t trust the new one. ✓ Loss of work and confidenceWhat ever happened to product testing before releasing? I have just lost my work three times. In addition the auto saving seems unreliable and writing has to be repeated. ✓ A couple of issuesThere are a couple of issues preventing this from getting good marks. One of them is the fact that the writing box doesn’t work properly.. when you write into the grey area to the right, the box strangely takes you back a few inches on the same line, and you end up writing over what you just written!! The box should just move a long so that you can continue to write! Secondly, if you decide to move a paragraph you’ve written (I’m using Apple Pencil 1) using the cut/move (dotted rectangle option), the box drags incredibly slowly, making it almost impossible to position. I’m using the latest iOS and and iPad Pro 9” 2016 model. The same operation in Notability works flawlessly and quickly..Version: 6.5.2
✓ Lost years of NotesThis used to be my go to note taker. I liked everything about it; the interface, the functionality and the original features. Unfortunately somewhere along the line the developer forgot about customer trust and rolled out an untested version that completely wiped several years of notes. Folder structure intact with zero content. I have a cloud backup! Problem solved right? No. No restore from backup function. This is so annoying I am abandoning this product..Version: 6.6.3
✓ Potential to be good, but….The potential in this app is very good, BUT and it’s a big but. On a number of occasions I have done surveys and hit the save button, checked it’s all there, closed my iPad and gone back to the office. In opening up the app back in the office, I’ve found that all the info has disappeared, meaning I’ve either had to go back to site or get the information that’s been lost, remotely. Neither being ideal. There is no ‘Waste basket’ to go to for retrieval of lost information. Extremely annoying and frustrating. I’ve had to check the info is on screen when on site and export it there and then, either on email, (presuming I can get a signal) or export to ‘photos’ to achieve a back up of sorts. Neither are ideal as I can’t then put the file back into the app to be able to edit all the info that was previously on screen, only add to it. If the developers could sort out a ‘waste basket’ or make the storage more stable, I’d give this app a much higher score. As it is, I use it, but am very careful not to rely on the stability of the app to be able to retrieve the input info I’ve put in it..Version: 6.5.1
✓ Laggy, bugs, and connection issuesThis used to be my favourite note taking app, since it had a lot going for it such as audio recording, movable/editing text after writing, an abundance of planners to choose from. However, as time progressed, I don’t think they’ve produced any meaningful updates that remedy the bugs that make it so frustrating to work now. I wouldn’t recommend..Version: 6.5.1
✓ A little buggyI am a pharmacy student and this app was really good in the beginning and I loved all of its features but over time it gets really buggy. I always update my apps so you would think the updates would fix the bugs but things keep happening. I download my lecture notes into notes plus and then write my notes in app but sometimes it completely wipes out my lectures, leaving behind blank pages with only my written notes left. It’s extremely annoying especially since my professors delete their lecture notes after the semester ends so I can’t even go back to download them again. Sometimes I would either be writing or typing and move the page slightly and lose everything that I wrote and typed so I had to start all over again. I mean I don’t understand why this keeps happening, if it’s only happening to me but I hope this gets heard and fixed..Version: 6.2.1
✓ Good App But With Unfixed GlitchesI use this app a lot and generally love the way it works. Handwriting is well done, and it has several nice features for selecting and editing my writing. I also use it for taking notes on pdf files. However one very annoying bug seems to be the Back (or Erase) button. After a few lines of writing, it seems to randomly activate, and what I just wrote immediately disappears. Sometimes hitting the Back button causes it to reappear! When taking notes in a meeting, this can be very frustrating. So I would say it is a really good app I want to keep, and I have used it for literally hundreds of pages and dozens of files. I have contacted tech support more than once, but no fix is in sight. If the trend continues I may have to look for another handwriting app, though I have mastered the learning curve and would rather give it five stars!.Version: 5.2.1
✓ This used to be my favourite appIn my opinion, this app was better than the two main competitors out there, Notability and Goodnotes 5. However, now the glitches are abundant with no fix in sight. ✓ Amazing app, Terrible backup systemI love this app, it suits my needs like a glove. But since one of the updates back in May or June I haven’t been able to read or recover any of my files. Every backup I had has been over written by a blank page and cannot be recovered. I have emailed the support and some response eventually came, but their advice did not work. I lost 12 months of uni notes right before a final assignment. I hope someone got fired. This newest version released in September 2019 completely messed up everything. The app crashes after 2 minutes and deletes everything I have written. I paid for this app. But every single page I have written since the date of purchase has been lost. ✓ Absolute disasterAfter months of notes taken with lot of care, I am surprised suddenly my notebooks have become empty folders which have as mane subfolders as pages they had but everything is empty. One of my notebooks was of my masters in finance, more than 150 pages completely lost! This is so irresponsible, it’s so annoying and even more, we have paid for this!!! This is a tremendous damage, I cannot even describe how much disappointment I am! It is so frustrating to see that all the derivations and graphs are just gone...crazy! ✓ Please roll back to v. 5.6I adore this app, heart and soul, and rely on it *heavily* for research, on a daily basis. Unfortunately, the recent updates to v. 6.0 and 6.0.1 have been catastrophic. The following problems occur, regardless of whether I’m using 6.0 (iPad Pro 12” with background backup to Dropbox) or 6.0.1 (iPad Pro 10” with no sync running): • App opens to a file I haven’t used in quite some time—not the most recent. • Once a notebook has been opened, the app resizes it to 0.00” x 0.00” in size. Resetting the page or notebook size doesn’t hold—it returns to 0.00 x 0.00, causing broad white margins on the right side of the screen. • This is the scariest part: Even though I’ve been using it with sync turned off today, the app literally wiped out an hour’s worth of research notations written on one page. • When scrolling up/down through a PDF with notations, the PDF image sometimes disappears, leaving a white page with only notations. This has a tendency to stop one’s heart. • Exporting a document as WebArchive no longer functions (nothing exports). As said in the first line, I adore this app, and rely on it more than any other. Today, however, resulted in lots of lost research while on the road, hundreds of miles from home. Viet Tran, I do hope you’ll consider rolling it back (someone else suggested calling it 6.0.2, which I’d be happy with). ✓ Awful, just awful.Now it doesn’t save new notebooks - but tells you it is saving. So you can put an hour’s work in there, as I just did, only to have it magically vanished when you return to the app. MOST DANGEROUS APP IN THE STORE for this reason. ✓ Still needs much workText editing is quite bad, sluggish and it was hard to select all text from 2pages when I used copy and paste. Importing text from iOS notes obviously wasn’t programmed well (regardless of the setting chosen) and it creates page breaks where it shouldn’t and to bring scattered words back to its place is a nightmare. Automatic shape is also struggling to recognise when I draw a shape regardless of the settings, specially cubes and rectangular. When color background is chosen it takes the application too long to make the paper actually that color when you open the note. It lags occasionally. I had situations where I lost the notebook. I couldn’t bring your back. All what I wrote was lost. When scrolling back and forth between pages after u open the notebook, it can take a long time till they appear and it is scary as u think u might have lost them. ✓ Sorry, but I’m changing my ratingThis used to be my favorite handwriting app. In fact, I still believe it has one of the best fountain pen algorithms available on any platform. But over time, it has become unusable. Many times when I am writing, the “ink” will simply stop following my Apple Pencil. At first, I thought it was my pencil’s fault. But my pencil works fine on other handwriting apps. Also, when scrolling with my finger down the page, it now leaves marks or smudges from time to time. Also, there are many times when I try to erase something, it won’t erase! I hit the undo button sever times and text BEFORE the text I want to delete disappears, but not the most recent text. But sometimes, I can then scroll the screen, and the text will then vanish, which tells me there is a screen buffering problem. My iPad hasn’t changed over the last three years. The only thing that has changed is the updates I have done to this app. I cannot even write simple notes without having to go back afterward and spend tons of time fixing all the problems caused by all of the bugs. I’m sorry and saddened to say that this app no longer works. 😢.Version: 6.5.1
✓ Good all-around with extra wishesIf I could give it no stars I would. Because the note-taking is worse than on other apps. Because the vga projection doesn’t allow to write at the bottom of the page since it won’t move down, so any page is left with the bottom quarter almost empty. Because the variety of pen styles makes no sense since there is no pressure sensitivity. Other than that it pretty much works as it should. It connects to Dropbox, it exports PDF, it knows where to import from and where to export to. These are not features though, these are bare essentials. That’s what I’ve paid for. Ah, the customer support is non-existent. After effectively killing myself one nerve at a time, I want my money back..Version: 6.2.1

✓ New update is buggyI used to use this app a lot but now I am almost afraid to. The last update has made it very unstable. I like the new feature that lets you erase by just scratching out but it has now made the traditional eraser often crash the app. What makes that worse is the the app will just switch to eraser mode by itself. Changing the pen color will often switch to eraser mode and sometimes the app just randomly does it. Then when you think you are about to write, you actually start erasing and the app suddenly crashed. Then you lose everything you have done since the app last saved the document when you closed it. It is very frustrating to use now. I am searching for a replacement app. Never mind. I have already found a replacement and have deleted this app. It wasn’t the most featured filled app but it met my needs until it started crashing..Version: 6.6.1
✓ Great substitute to handwritten notesLove how it is set out as notebooks where you can add and delete pages easily, and can create new notebooks so your work can be organised really well. What stands out most is how good this app picks up on your handwriting with the ipencil, especially the fountain pen setting which honestly makes my ugly writing look 100x better. Small glitches such as occasionally opening the magnified textbook when I write something small and squiggly like an “a” or a bullet point but otherwise no complaints :).Version: 5.4.2
✓ Crashes reliablyAnd that has become one of its best features! I’ve used Notes Plus for years. It has never lived up to its billing of converting handwriting to typed text, maybe 15% accurate at best. Nonetheless, I have hand-written thousands of pages in Notes Plus. Lately (latest release) it crashes sporadically, but every time I use it. Usually, several times in one writing session. The worst part? It deletes one or more recently-completed pages, without notice. Sometimes, the app just sits there for minutes, while I do something else... until I touch the screen with an Apple Pencil. Then the app crashes, right away, back to the home screen. This is getting PAINFUL to use. I no longer recommend this app. Find a better one for your needs. Also... it saves REALLY slowly, and apparently loses entire pages at the time. (As well as randomly) There was a bug when migrating... it would only migrate ALL pages in ALL notebooks. But not user’s choice of notebooks. And not all notebooks would migrate. The app would crash back to the home screen. So, I had to repeatedly try to migrate. So now, I have multiple versions of various notebooks, almost all of my notebooks... hundreds. Many with 10 or 12 versions. So now I have to go thru all of these on iCloud Drive and delete the identical versions that are only taking up (paid) space on iCloud Drive. And also check to see if any of these have lost some pages that are perhaps in another version of the same file... Painful..Version: 6.2.1

✓ A few problemsI really enjoy this app it’s great for taking notes in uni and for other things like list making and planning. I have however been having a few problems recently. I have been having problems with it force closing. And it always seems to be at the same section when I’m trying to scroll down. Ive also experienced things I’ve written being deleted, this has happened 2 or 3 times. Two of which it wasn’t that much only about half a page. ✓ Lost notesI have used this app for several years as my app for taking handwritten notes. In recent weeks, after making two sets of extensive handwritten notes (one set was an hour’s worth of language homework, the other was notes on 6 rental properties) I returned later to those notebooks to find that almost the entirety of my notes had disappeared. This sort of unreliability is a deal breaker for me and I am reluctantly deleting Notes Plus after years of use and switching to Notability..Version: 6.2
✓ Has become buggy and unreliableThis is a good app when it works but recently has become glitchy. For example: close-up writing box not showing the area that is selected on the main page, you have to close the close-up box and deselect to fix; next page suddenly disappears/greyed out, need to close and reopen to get it to display; upgrading notebooks from old version to new corrupts or deletes old notes (recommend you back everything up somewhere other than iCloud before you upgrade). ✓ Update loss of workThis WAS the best app out there... at least I thought so. I have used a number of them and all in all this was a great tool. They did a resent update that resulted in a loss of two days work and all my notes. This update was not just buggy, it was unusable. Now they say they are sorry, it will be fixed in the next update, and maybe they are and maybe it will be. ✓ Avoid: file scramble on update unreliableI have been an ardent fan of NotesPlus for many years. I’ve used it every day pretty well. But there is no coming back from the misjudgement of creating an automatic update that mitigates ALL your files to some new format (inc the iCloud backup I might add) -that is not robust. While I was in a meeting notes on the previous meeting disappeared. These related to funding on a research grant. Still not got them back. I found that many documents had pages corrupted or blank, documents broken up into multiple files - 1 document becomes 5, the result is it has scrambled *years* of documents and the pages it failed to convert - like everything set to ‘read-only’ because they are important - are now blank and unrecoverable. iCloud shows nothing in the “recently deleted” so cannot be recovered, they must have been over written. A company who is sloppy enough to do this once is definitely going to go under and evidently has no respect for it’s customers, their loyalty and the value of this software. I have spent the weekend ensuring I have pdf copies of as much as possible. But recon I’ve lost 20% some really important. I’ve now switched to Notability.....Version: 6.2

✓ AvoidI have been using notes plus for 2 years and was a big fan until 2 weeks ago. The bugs they have introduced with the recent upgrades (linked to the iCloud syncing) meant I lost precious work data (completely vanished) and it generated days of work to manually backup files in pdfs. What a disaster! And the new version which is meant to be bug free is still not stable. Hence, I was forced to use another app, Notability, as a replacement. I never write reviews, but this has caused so much grief I hope other people can benefit from this warning..Version: 6.2
✓ Should have normal responsesI like the idea of this program and much of it works relatively as you would expect. However, I like to combine text with writing and the text part of the program is glitchy causing me to save, quit and restart often in one writing session. A few suggestions I hope get fixed SOON: when selecting a location to type in the T mode, the pages automatically scroll up, up, up, up every time and don’t select where I am touching. Weird and super frustrating. Also, when you select to delete a page, which the app creates blank pages seemingly randomly as you type or move text/notes, the app says you can’t. Undo this option but it doesn’t confirm the page you want to delete, so you just cross your fingers the right page gets deleted. Some times the text pages don’t have borders or are zoomed in randomly while other pages are the opposite, and as you scroll your work appears to have disappeared, then slowly reappears on the page. Hope you wait to make sure the page isn’t blank and then delete it! Lastly, if use return to move a section of text, the app will spread that section over multiple pages, often leaving just a few words on a few pages with the rest of the words on a few more pages. What?! Lastly, there is not option to save your document as one document. Instead, it is saved and exported with each page being a separate document. Why in the...?! ✓ Used to be my favorite handwriting app but recent versions are disappointingThis app used to be my favorite handwriting app because of its smooth strokes and features that allow me to easily erase, select, and move written text. After the iOS13 update, however, the handwriting is no longer smooth and it sometimes fails to recognize strokes if I write faster (while in other handwriting apps my Apple Pencil still works perfectly). Another issue I’ve been having with this app is the lack of search-ability even though it claims to support conversion from handwriting to text. While the OCR button in the tool bar seems to recognize my handwriting without any issue, the intended pages never show up when I try to use the search bar in the top left corner to find specific words. Also I hope Notes Plus can keep the OCR texts when exporting to pdf so that the exported file is still searchable, which would be a huge plus. Although I loved Notes Plus in the past, these bugs have become more and more annoying for me. If they are not fixed in the near future I am considering the switch to other note taking apps entirely..Version: 6.3.4
✓ Writing ExperienceIn terms of organisation and all the extra stuff it’s a very satisfying app, but the experience I have when it comes down to actually writing notes, it’s quite ANNOYING. Noteshelf has better writing recognition than this. I don’t know what it is, but halfway through words, it becomes choppy. As if it doesn’t recognise the pen anymore. So it takes me longer than necessary to write something down. So if you’re looking for an experience where your pen just glides as you wish, I wouldn’t recommend this app for it....Version: 5.4.2
✓ Kinda disappointedI feel like this app is decent but I’ve noticed some issues, I use an Apple Pencil on other apps such as procreate I’m able to rest my hand and write/draw. It seems I can’t do that with this app, that’s huge problem with me because I have motor issues. Every time I rest my hand on the screen with this app I’ll write but as soon as I move my hand it erases. I don’t think it’s a problem with my tablet or Apple Pencil as I just purchased them and I use other apps that allow me to rest my hand. So I feel like if this was fixed the app would be a lot better. Kinda sad I paid $10 for it I can’t use it how I need to :/ Another just small thing I feel like there needs to be more cover options for the notebooks, and maybe more paper options. ✓ Not worth it for bad handwrittersI got this app purely because I wanted to convert my handwritten notes to text so that it’s easier to read because my handwriting is terrible. Well I read a review from an engineer who was raving about it, and engineers are also known for having bad handwriting. Well I’m a math and geophysics major and so handwritten notes are necessary because of all the symbols, but I would like to have legible notes. The handwriting to text conversion didn’t recognize ANY of my text. All of it was wrong. I regret buying this app. It’s a waste of money for me. It’s only useful because of that conversion, but if it doesn’t work for bad handwriting what’s even the point? It’s not as necessary to convert good handwriting to text as it is to convert bad handwriting to text. This in general was actually one of the biggest reason why I even wanted an iPad Pro, so my notes could be legible. There should at least be a free trial because I wouldn’t have bought it if I had known how bad the app was for what I needed it for. And the interfaces of free apps are a lot better than this one. I also hate that it erases things when I didn’t even scribble it out and then other times I scribble for like an entire minute and still doesn’t delete the thing. It’s so frustrating. ✓ Very disappointingDespite having given a very good review of this app a while ago, I’m afraid I have to revise that down to "unacceptable" now. I must echo the comments of others who have lost material with the recent automatic app update. I lost a load of stuff - much of it irreplaceable. The update had clearly not been adequately tested before release. But worse, despite contacting the support desk and then sending several reminders, they have not got back to me about retrieving my files. I’m going to have to try some of the other apps mentioned in these comments, and would recommend others to think carefully before choosing this as their pencil app - although it looks good and seems well-featured, it has hidden problems lurking....Version: 6.2.1

The developers somehow managed to ruin a perfectly good app. It is now completely unstable and you WILL lose your notes if you use this app. Avoid at all costs. EDIT: my former review is below. ✓ Do not buy based on INKredibleINKredible is the free demonstrator version of this app, which is one of the most satisfying writing experience I have had on an iPad app with a super realistic ink pen, no lag and works beautifully. This paid version £9.99, is nowhere near that experience. Main reservations I have is it is very laggy, particularly on landscape and less but still there when you turn the iPad to portrait. The entire experience feels like it was 10 yrs back on a then famous usb tablet Also written words in iOS14, disappear randomly within the last 2 lines or so. Crashes happen which I have to use for some more time to find when Some less important issues I found... - there is no option to auto switch to pen from eraser like in the free version, which is super useful - you cannot change page type, say from ruled to squares once your notebook is set but you can change the cover for some reason. ✓ Not as easy as they would like you to believeI have done one project somewhat successfully with this app, but for general note recording it is not working out for me. I am taking some online classes and taking notes while the videos are playing. Some of the points need to be illustrated with specific pictures of the actions to take in Excel and Photoshop Elements, but the pictures are proving very difficult to place, resize, and actually save to the notes. At first I thought it was just PNG pictures, but JPEGs are proving just as problematic. Another issue is the stylus. The only stylus they now recommend for Note Plus is the Apple Pencil. I have an iPad 7th generation, and the Apple Pencil does not work with that version of iPad. I bought a Bamboo Sketch stylus, which works with the my iPad but (according to Notes Plus) does not work well with their app. So I may as well not use this app at all. ✓ No longer the bestI am not sure what happened with this app and the company. This app used to be absolutely perfect for taking business notes and having the notes readily accessible. Whatever was changed by the developers recently has caused continuous crashing. I lost 3yrs worth of notes. My only saving grace is that I always back up my notes with another app just because of horrific incidents of losing notes like this app did to all my work. As for customer support, I am of the opinion that they are just overwhelmed with customer disappointment right now and therefore can not get to everyone in a timely manner. ✓ AVOID!!!!!! You can loose all yr content in a flash!!!Today I lost the content of ALL my Notebooks of nearly 2 years!!!!! What happened? I simply updated the app to their latest version - a regular update with other apps - and suddenly all the content DISAPPEARED! The titles of my Notebooks and the folders are still there, but all the content is GONE. I LOST massive amounts of ESSENTIAL info. I immediately contacted their Support via Email and I got a lot of MAILER-DEMON notices that my message could not be delivered. I tried TWICE at different times; same result. This is incredibly FRUSTRATING! NotesPlus has been one of my favourite app for nearly 2 years. I used it on almost daily basis to take handwritten notes and record meetings (which don’t sync with the Notebooks by the way due to an iCloud issue - they told me in the past). ✓ Very pleased!I was happy with this app until recently. Then it started loosing pages of writing. I contacted support who quickly said they had a problem syncing with iCloud which they were working on! Solution was to disable syncing, ie no backup, but this didn’t restore lost pages. I could possibly restore them by going to iCloud zipping up the data, use iTunes on a pc to down load zip and restore on iPad! I don’t find this acceptable. ✓ What the heck happened!I, once upon a time, really liked this app as evident by just how much I used it to store my notes and the drafts for various projects. It was my go to app for jotting down meeting notes, making corrections and editing notations for active projects, the place I stored drafts many of my instructional drafts. It was the place I worked through trouble spots and made my staffing needs notes. This has now turned out to have been a mistake on my part. Every single folder, and I have dozens upon dozens of them, is filled with blank pages. Single notes saved as pages are fine but anything which was in a folder seems to be gone. ✓ Filing good, typing functionality frustratingGot this app to manage my meeting notes for work, which I predominantly type. Love the filing system. Find the typing functionality frustrating as it is difficult to type and what you are typing on the bottom half of a page. Also, when you get into typing, the page does not turn so you end up with typing in the gap at the bottom of the page and effectively losing what you have written. It looks like there is thread contention between background and foreground processes because the display of the writing is about 2 seconds behind the pen strokes. ✓ Disaster narrowly missed but once bitten never to try againI agree with a previous review, not to get seduced by this formidable but poorly worked out app. Irresponsible but talented people behind this concept. This app revolutionised my professional note taking, allowing me to integrate drawings , photos, annotate them, save them at different stages of reviewing them. The erase function was capital for me, so immediate, it didn t break flow of writing, the pressure adjustment on the stylus with glide and thickness brought huge satisfaction to my daily note taking. This app expanded my creativity, the integration of my knowledge. And then the automatic update arrived and four months of confidential files which hadnt been saved crashed. It took hours to retrieve them into dropbox, where they were supposed to go. Its going tho take me much longer to relocated each file which in the process got duplicated 6-8 times to their correct dropbox file. But at least they have been saved. Hours of filing and checking lie ahead. These are medical files. Loosing them would have compromised my position. I cannot take the risk any more. ✓ Too glitchy for the priceI downloaded this app after playing with the developers free handwriting app. I was very impressed with the way the Apple Pencil interacts with the screen. It felt more like true writing to me. The OCR feature is also quite nice, and I found that it recognized my handwriting pretty well. However, in the course of trying to use the app for note taking in the real world situations. I found it more difficult than I expected. Sometimes random dots and lines appear on the page, and when I go to use the eraser tool to erase them they disappear as soon as I hit the tool. When I go back to the pen mode, the lines reappear. Very frustrating. Also, two full pages of notes disappeared from the notebook. I’m willing to admit that that could’ve been user error, but I have no idea how I would have made them disappear. Also, as mentioned in other reviews, the scribble to a race feature does not work very well. I also didn’t like that you have to go into a special edit mode to name each page. It took too many clicks to get there, and just felt cumbersome. Overall, I think the app could be really great, but I felt it was not a very good value for the price right now..Version: 5.4.2

I have switched to using the iPad (specifically Note Plus) in all my client intakes and note taking ventures—trial lawyer here...take A LOT of handwritten notes. Couple of Points I would like to see improved on: (1) Easier exporting/naming—I save all my notes as PDF in client folders on my firm’s server. I have to remember to rename each PDF Note as the app carrys the naming of my previous note to my new notebook...creating a lot of confusion when trying to locate a note; (2) Palm Rejection needs some work, very frequently when I go to write in the notebook the app zooms the note to the point that I often have to pinch to resize to normal “fit” zoom; (3) Add “insert date” button, I date all of my handwritten notes so when I print them to the file they are put in the proper order...would be nice if there was a way to insert date by default. Otherwise app works great! But Please Please Please work on better Palm Rejection...very annoying to have to stop note taking to resize the note..Version: 6.2

One critical problem is that notes randomly disappear, so for those with important notes, this is dangerous and makes the app of no use. Next, there is a duplication of files and folders problem. This duplication creates a syncing process of thousands of duplicate files and folders, if you have used this app extensively creating notes and folders over the years, as I and others have. What is most bothersome is that these critical problems are known by the support team and communication to users has been poor regarding updates, and most importantly, updated solutions are delayed to date. Go to to the apps community support pages, to read messages from current users about the ongoing critical problems. The latest update, 6.2, claims there has been a solution, and unfortunately, that claim is not consistent with my experience, nor apparently others. There are no solutions for Dropbox users, who are experiencing these critical problems. Do not buy this app , unless there are versions past 6.2 that are stable, reliable, and efficient. Don’t buy! I'm an architect and often draw sketches right on the job sites, iPad if often just rested on my arm as I move through premises and take notes, draw sketches. I know there's an area that I can pull up for palm rejection but then it interferes with my sketches. Also some bugs need fixing, sometimes area where I write won't accept my Apple Pencil (not on the sides of the notes, but literally in the middle of the page), sometimes PDFs won't import into a folder that I have open but will save themselves after an import randomly in my files and sometimes when I use the magnified handwriting window it would write somewhere completely in a different area on the page. The act of writing slows down and clarifies my thinking. This app combines the best of both worlds. I practically never put it down. **I’m adding this addendum after experiencing serious problems with this app. It’s still the best writing app I’ve found; it’s versatility, pen/brush modes, and interface are great and there’s really nothing I’ve found that compares. That having been said, I’ve been experiencing a problem that I consider catastrophic, that is, data loss. Whole pages of text simply disappear from notebooks and there’s no way to retrieve them. This is a fatal error; the only workaround is to constantly export pdf to capture the notebook at its current stage. And check that the psd exported correctly also. ✓ Not at all effective . . .It’s really sad that this app isn’t currently operating at its true potential. Things will just frantically erase on another part of the page while I’m mid writing and then the complete opposite will happen. Something like a dot at the top of an “i” or a period even a small line will permanently stay there on the page and disappears when I click on the eraser, not allowing the mark to be erased. Both of these inconveniences are particularly rather annoying to say the least. I like how the pen on this app writes and that’s probably about it. I’d like to say that this app is just too complex for simplistic note taking, but that would give it undeserving praise. The amount of buttons needed to be pushed in order to produce just a straight line, a simple shape or anything else seemingly uncomplicated is made so bothersome!!! Consequently I could, without a doubt, never use this app during an actual lecture. The developer has been very sympathetic but the problem persists, interrupting my workflow to the point that I cannot use it. I was very hopeful about this app when I first purchased it despite it being ranked lower than some of its competitors. I have been using it for about 3 months now hoping that some of the minor glitches would be corrected but, the amount of glitches and the frequency of them have increased since first downloading the app. I have now lost at LEAST 4 whole notebooks worth of graduate course notes both on the app as well as my iCloud Drive. I also unintentionally set a password to protect my notebooks/folders and 1) there is not an easily accessible way to reset your password, which is very frustrating and 2) when I contacted their support team, I received an initial email to help me solve the issue but when the steps they gave me did not work and I tried contacting them again, I got no response. There are so many problems with response times and ease of use since the update that the company is aware of. when I raised these questions nearly two weeks ago I was assured that they would be resolved within a few days, and was specifically asked to give the app a 5 star rating to try to combat recent bad ratings. The developer should be putting far more effort into correcting these issues to actually help their clients who rely on this app for work and school rather than trying to manage their PR and numerical rating. Updates should not be released without proper testing, and this one needs to be removed so that users are able to function with the previous, not glitchy, version while V6 is repaired..Version: 6.0.2
✓ Used to be great... Now it's barely goodI used to love this app. As many others app, major updates are often synonym with new bugs. I patiently dealt with the doubling of notes and folders when syncing and backup were introduced. But the app is now constantly crashing. This is annoying but more frustrating is the fact that you are losing content... Bad enough when you are rewriting old notes but terrible when trying to take note during a live meeting. ✓ Can I have my money back?Pretty pants guys ...... I did a fair bit of research ( I thought) before I went for this app .... I really wanted the ‘convert to text’ to work well .... it does not .... it is very poor... I have legible handwriting but when I convert to text it becomes totally unreadable nonsense. Do not purchase if this is the feature of the app you are buying it for. Waste of £9.99 for an otherwise annoying app ... really do not get what all the enthusiastic reviews are about ... makes me wonder if they are genuine (such a cynic I know but after spending same amount of money on apps such as procreate that are totally worth it I really think pro notes is totally over rating itself.).Version: 5.3

✓ Chernobyl of appsObviously no discerning consumer is installing Notes Plus at this point but it is good that it remains in the App Store so people can benefit from the lessons learned. There is no point in rehashing the details of went wrong again here except to highlight that the product was a pretty broadly adopted darling of handwriting recognition fans. They were cleverly tweaking around the edges of the cutting edge of functionality when they rolled out a poorly tested revision and decimated years of user data and essentially self destructed. A timely reminder to be wary when you are integrating a product or function into your critical workflow when you’ve paid less than the price of your breakfast for it. It’s not the bells or whistles (or advertising & promotion) that get short changed at these companies — it’s the basic blocking and tackling ... the testing and risk management. Many probably felt they had a lot of backup ... were as safe as they could be. They couldn’t have imagined a company, so successful to date, would release a revision that would dig all the way back into the historical data, and the way it interacts with the app, and blow it all up. ✓ No longer supports Wacom Stylus although website says they doI have spent £9.99 on an app that the developers have now informed me no longer supports the Wacom range of stylus products. I am furious as the developer’s web site clearly states in the FAQ that Wacom Stylus products are supported. I have asked for a full refund which had not been forthcoming. I’m sure this is a great App if you have an Apple Pencil ... I don’t, but made my buying decision based on false information (they used to support Wacom stylus products). They were quick to reply to my support email saying Wacom no longer supported, but have not responded to my refund request. Don’t be misled into buying this product. ✓ What have you done?!?!A perfectly good app has become unusable! Have been using Notes Plus for around 18 months, never had an issue and now following update, the app has become slow to move between notebooks as well as creating blank duplicates over and over. Have tried to export everything en-masse as concerned it is about to be lost yet it only exports a single page of a single notebook. Very disappointed, always been good, never had a problem but am going to have to find another app following this update..Version: 6.2
✓ What happened?No longer my favourite app. Still has lots of bugs. Please bring back third party stylus, or is that the reason for the instability? Update. I found another app called Noteshelf that does not have as many bugs and supports third party stylus. I don’t use NotesPlus anymore. Too bad..Version: 6.5.2
✓ Usability factor lackingI only paid for this app because it provides audio recording whilst writing. I regret this purchase. The app has options that are not easy to choose. When taking notes, you would want to pick options quickly and not scroll through or hunt for the options. Also, once a paper style is chosen, it cannot be changed. I would request a refund and delete the app if the option is available..Version: 5.2.2
✓ Buggy and too unreliableI used to love this app - used it a lot when at uni about 10 years ago. But now, despite its amazing features, it is far too buggy to recommend for any serious use. - when in close up mode, writing in the main view isn’t shown properly in the close up view. This is inconsistent but does happen often enough to be very irritating, as i can’t continue to write on a line without lots of trial and error. - adding a new page somehow caused about half the writing on the previous page to disappear. Maybe the new notes plus X version fixes these kinds of issues. If so, i think the developer should remove this version from the store entirely or make it more clear it is deprecated. I saw it was still being updated and thought it would be usable, but it really isn’t any more. Sad, but a reminder that software does have a shelf life..Version: 6.6.2
