✓ Wonderful!Well, they have just got everything right. Outstanding concept and execution. There's obviously going to be the token slack-brained muppet who comes on here complaining that it would have been better as a dual-stick shooter but they haven't shown up yet so there may yet be some hope for humanity. The mechanics and graphics would have worked fine without the Van Helsing story to carry it along, but I just love the whole thing. Even the humour works, and it works really well! It would be a shame if this game didn't do exceptionally well, because innovation and a genuinely fantastic and entertaining puzzle game like this deserves to be played by loads of people. I broke my "no more bought apps for a few days" oath as soon as I heard about this, and I am really glad about that. Thanks, great game!.Version: 0
✓ Elementary, my dear RafftonThis is a sensational game! I'm fairly certain that it has everything a good puzzle needs: a beautiful interface that doesn't overload the eye, a fresh system of increasingly perplexing challenges, tons of extras for casual replayability... Not to mention the wonderfully dry sense of humour throughout, and the sheer amount of levels in career mode. ✓ A fun challengeI was first drawn in by the artwork, which has a very retro modern look to it. But the game play is truly original and can sometimes be challenging; it definitely makes you think about light, angles and distance! ✓ Absolutely brilliant!!!This has many things going for it - sense of adventure, puzzles you have to think about (that change based on your actions), a bit of an action element with the end of level bosses and humor in the cut scene dialog bits. The mechanics of moving the torch around the screen to light up the monsters is unique and loads of fun to play with. Instantly my new favourite game! Would have happily paid much more for this. ✓ Great game so far, could use slight tweak to controlsWhile I'm only about 20 puzzles into the full set of 90, I'm having a great time so far. It's a little on the easy side (I have it cranked up to "hard" though I honestly am not sure what the difference is), but I imagine it's going to start getting more complicated very soon. The game itself is finely-crafted, pretty to look at, has some amusing dialog, and is a very clever gameplay idea. My only complaint so far is that I want a finer way of controlling my position. This could be done with a zoom-in option, a multi-touch that would allow me to fire a tonic without lifting my finger (picking up my finger often slightly moves the torch from where I'm holding it), or a small d-pad that would allow fine-tuning a position. Great game so far, highly recommended, and an absolute steal at the $0.99 launch price..Version: 0

✓ To the people complaining!!Ok so you love the game but want more levels? - 1. It's a 99 cent game and it's easily worth the price. 2. You've probably only played through it once right? Well did you know that the game has different levels on each difficulty level?? 1 play through has 90 levels so if you play on the other two difficulty settings as well you would get 90x3 = 270 level !! Plus there is an endless mode and integration to 'crystal' for leaderboards. Bottom line- get this game!! I wouldn't be surprised if the price increases because it is totally amazing. :D.Version: 0

I have not played a puzzler like this ever and it is a blast. Everything is done right here- graphics, gameplay, humorous banter, challenge. It all adds up to a terrific game. While the story mode may be a little short, it has a survival mode where you race against the clock to wipe out the bad guys, so you have to think and act fast to keep playing. This is different from the story where you are timed, but you can take as long as you need to figure out how to eliminate all the monsters (as long as you don't run out of tonics). ✓ Compelled to write my first review.After several years and hundreds of [iOS] games, I am here to write my first review... Helsing's Fire is a superb game. Simple, fun, but at times, challenging... It's got the exact "shtick" of arcade games from 30 years ago. It's not going to wow you with dazzling 3D graphics, but at the same time, it doesn't rely on them to be great... it's got GAMEPLAY, which is all too often lost in today's games. However, Helsing's Fire definitely lands safely in my top 10 iOS games because of its smooth learning curve, entertaining campaigns and truly original gameplay. Survival Mode and randomly generated levels add great replay value. The hint system is handy for kickstarting you off on a puzzle you're struggling on and the new update added lots of genius gameplay elements; it feels like playing a sequel! Boss levels break up the gameplay nicely and the narrative for a puzzle game feels so unique. Music can get repetitive so I wouldn't mind a more extended soundtrack perhaps, and am eagerly waiting for another campaign from the devs. Overall, a genius game and highly recommended! ✓ Great!First, let me say that I love this game and have already beat it once. I shouted out loud when I saw that this update has options to help colorblind guys like me. I had a very hard time with the red/green in the game, causing a lot of do-overs. Most of us just try to adapt, but it means a lot for a dev to accommodate my minor handicap. That said, the colorblind slider is not helping me as much as I had hoped. As you slide further down, you get too many blues which can be equally hard. On my opinion, green is the color that causes the biggest difficulty. If the green became a yellow or something more pale, that might help more. So maybe the solution is exactly what someone previously suggested: allow users to customize the colors individually. Then each person can make changes that work best for their vision. Even if the color option stays as is, I will continue to praise this game. It is very original, and it's beautifully done. Kudos to the devs & designers..Version: 0

✓ Updated reviewThe new colorblind sider is a good addition but I have a suggestion. It seems that it's a hue adjustment slider. It would be great to be able to change individual colors. Maybe it would be good to have a complete color set to choose from. There could be the original and then a second with red, blue, yellow and white. The current slider may help the red/green troubled folks but those who have a blue/purple issue may still have a bit of trouble. ✓ The new iOS4 standardFirst off, the game is great. Puzzles get much more complicated than they look. I particularly want to point out the excellent design, as an iOS program. When you open the app, it goes directly back to where you exited... No publisher intro screens, no main menu, no player select/login screen. EXACTLY as you left it. Plus, this game was accidentally deleted after upgrading the firmware (a fault of iTunes), so re-downloaded it on the iPhone's App Store expecting to have to start over from the beginning. I was incredibly surprised to find that when I booted it up for the first time, I was, again, exactly where I'd left off... Didn't even have to log back into Crystal. I thought the game was over when I cleared the 3 sections, but no, all it does is unlock 3 different sections in the survival mode which is timed. Almost as if the game itself was nothing more than the training grounds for the survival mode. Have not beaten any of the survival sections which is really challenging. Great game, great ongoing challenge with the survival mode. Two thumbs up. A rather innovative creative setup that makes you think. Evolves beyond shooting down the monsters, end of game mentality. Definitely get most bang for your buck with this game. Should win an award of some kind. Highly recommended. Edit -- I went back and played the game in Hard mode and noted that it crashed on me multiple times in this mode. No crashes in Easy or Medium mode. But no biggie, just click on the game icon and it starts again in seconds and you just start from where you left off (the uncleared sections). The graphics are well polished, the difficulties are well varied (I've been playing on absurd since the start). My lady now steals my phone to play this game to compete with me. The puzzles are dynamic: you move your torch to probe angles and some enemies force you to dodge their projectiles keeping you alert while thinking. Once again, lovely art and colours. ✓ A gamble..Clickgamer took a gamble with this. After their hugely successful Angry Birds app, they could have stuck with that formula and released an Angry Birds 2. It would have been popular and regardless of whether it was actually any good or not, they would have made a ton more money. However, they didn't. That is commendable. Instead they went for a different style of puzzle game, introducing a new game mechanic. Boy did it pay off. Helsing's Fire is a brilliant game. It's fun, gripping and good for either an hour of playing or just to dip into as and when. The levels are fun, the graphics smooth and the style great. I love the little brofist after some levels. Now, I've just completed the first set of levels in the town, and am at the forest. I completed each of the levels in the first region in under minute. So far it hasn't been too challenging, but I expect it will pick up. Even though it's not much of a brain-strain it is enjoyable to play and I have no regrets over the spending 59p to play it. I recommend you buy this if you enjoy puzzlers, want a game that looks good, has a light hearted style and offers a minor challenge with no frustration. -------------- Just a little footnote to say that the levels do increase in difficulty and I'm currently stuck on one. Also, the music sounds like old Castlevania games and fits really well. The first few levels start out slowly, but the difficulty ramps up fast.
