Not sure yetI'm not sure yet about this app since I just downloaded it. The first thing I noticed that was a real hassle was that it does not support multi-tasking. If I started a search, left the app and came back, it did not rturn to exactly where I left off. That is a big negative. The second thing that I wasn't too happy about is that I tried to look up 36 different wines and it was only able to find 11 of them. That's a bit disappointing. I was not looking for anything too obscure. These were wines you could purchase at the local wine store, grocery store, or find at a mid-range restaurant in my area. I also searched for several from wineries in the California wine regions and it could not find any of them. I'm not sure if this is because the app is a bit snobbish and doesn't have the wines that the average person would encounter or the database is just severely lacking. I was disppointed when looking at the Vintages section of the app and to find that Temecula or South Coast was not recognized as a wine region. It's a shame that area is not getting any recognition. Other wine apps include this area so I'm not sure why this app has left it out. I'm disappointed that the search feature only seraches by wine name. I would love to be able to search by varietal, region, rating, etc. I'll have to further assess that app but so far I am really questioing if I want to pay a monthly subscription for an app that so far doesn't seem to be very useful..Version: 3.1

Ok, but where's the full WS App???Handy application to have I guess, very generic in its reference however. The real question is, where's the WS App??.Version: 1.3

RidiculousI agree with some previous reviewers! Not only am I subscribed to the actual magazine but also to the website... I find it ridiculous that we members must dish out and extra 3$ a month to use an app that will supply us the same rating information. A shame even! Wine Spectator: think about your current online subscribers and less about your pockets!.Version: v2.01

Less infoNot much information, chart is a good tool, not much..Version: 1.3

Trying to learn need more infoLooks like you'd really have to know what you were doing before this would be helpful( and if you know what you're doing do you really need the app??) perhaps a bit more info on a few wine estate names, maybe even bottles..Version: 0

Don't bother, no regional or winery informationHow you can put all of Australia's wine regions into only 3 categories (Barossa and Mclaren Vale, Coonawarra and Victoria) is stupid! Don't waste your time, seriously.Version: 1.3

Canadian award winning wines???What happened to the Canadian wines? It's sort of like the American grade 10 geography test where only 30% of US students drew in Canada above a map of the United States. Canada exists and so does its wines..Version: 1.3

Nothing for meI get nothing out of this app. On the rare occasions (maybe 1 out of 5) that I find the wine I’m searching for, the newest vintage is 8 or 10 years old. Maybe it works for somebody but not for me, I’ll be canceling my subscription..Version: 6.4.7

Good app, not enough selectionIt's a well made app, but so far 50% of the wines I've bought haven't been listed. Maybe I just need to learn how to use it better, but I'm guessing there's a limit to how much it can include..Version: 1.3

Canada?Where is Canada in the list? The Niagara region and B.C. have fabulous wines! Also the names of wine suggestion would be nice..Version: 0

Good start!Good general reference. Would love to see more detailed info..Version: 1.3

Ok but not wow!I was expecting better from WS. Hope eParker will come up with a vintage chart too! The left and right bank indicators are not a good idea, please list the regions instead..Version: 1.3

Canada makes wine too!!It would be nice to have some reviews on Canadian wines..Version: 1.3

I need to pay again?I pay for the magazine... I pay for the online content. Now they want me to pay for the same content again on my iPhone???? No thanks, WS..Version: v2.01

Not that useful to meQuite generalised information and not that much benefit to me. Problems scrolling with iPhone 4 Deleted very quickly.Version: 0

WineriesWine names or wineries would be helpful..Version: 0

Very Useful!Great quick reference guide especially when in store but for more considered, expensive buying could do with greater detail in specific areas!.Version: 0

Good if currentI wish I knew when "not yet ready" applied. Is this app current to December 2010? I just opened a 2008 Zin from the Napa Valley that doesn't seem right on, and the app tells me that it's 'not yet ready', but I don't know how current the app is, so the value of the info is moot..Version: 0

A disappointing updateWhat a shame! This app used to be so great to use, and it’s now been refreshed and become less functional because of it. The user experience of simple functions such as viewing lists, organising search results (by price, rating, vintage etc) are now less fluid - e.g. two step processes rather than single clicks. Gone too are the names of the reviewers for each wine. While I trust each of the critics under the WS belt, there are some whose palates I feel more aligned with, so it’s helpful to know who’s rated what. Overall, the app feels to have been unnecessarily ‘fixed’ when there was little wrong with it. All in my very humble opinion, anyway..Version: 6.0.4

ReviewHow about Canada & New Zealand? Being able to get older vintages and more specific areas would be great also..Version: 1.3

DecentGood app overall but needs many more regions added. A Canada section would be appreciated. More explanations as well..Version: 1.3

Good but limitedIt's not very hard to review a vintage... Sub-regions need to be more extensive. Too limited..Version: 1.3

Subscription PaywallI already subscribe to print and digital, so was surprised to find the app also requires a separate additional subscription. Subscription fatigue is a thing for a reason. I understand the technical integrations on the backend make it difficult for the dev team to understand who is already subscribing to what, but luring loyal subscribers (or anyone really) from the App Store to slam into an immediate paywall is very bad customer experience. WS should know better..Version: 6.6.0

Limited informationA lot of good wines & countries missing..Version: 0

Fairly uselessToo basic. Canada, home of many great wines, does not make the cut. Overall disappointing..Version: 0

Where's Canada?This is a great tool, but it's missing Canada...nothing from British Columbia or Ontario-Canada's primary wine regions..Version: 1.3

Where are Ontario wines?Niagara region? Really?.Version: 1.3

WineBig thing missing for me is no new Zealand wine section. Overall though it does provide a good vintage overview.Version: 1.3

"free" for $2.99 a monthApp has basically no use unless you pay the $2.99 a month subscription fee.Version: v2.01

So-soNot very informative. Lacks regions, e.g. in Italy it only covers piedmont and Tuscany..Version: 1.3

Mmm it's okCould be better.Version: 1.3

Ok appNeed to have more info. Like paring info and wine names ..Version: 0

App is unstableI agree with other reviewers. Just recently the app is acting unstable. Each time I open up my Wine Spectator Plus it pops up a window offering a free 30 day trial and then and ongoing $2.99 subscription however I have had this paid subscription for a long time and now it keeps asking me to “Restore my Purchase “ in order to gain access to something I have subscribed to for 5 years ??? I hope they fix this bug I will cancel. It’s very annoying. I also got charged $4.95 from this app today and that is on top of the $2.99 monthly subscription fee. What happened to this app ???.Version: 5.2.7

Only access w/ paid subscription - no basic access anymoreJust like others noticed, this app now only works with a paid subscription that amounts to $36/ year. Like other users, I decided to press the delete button and after many years of use (10y?), it now is history and no longer on my phone. I used it now for many years mainly for a quick look at the vintage charts and every once in a while I also had a subscription but I found that unless you are in the industry it’s not worth spending this for occasional use. I’m not a fan of a subscription model, especially not for things you only need once in a while. I thought it was a good play on their part as a teaser to get the magazine or even if you wanted to get individual ratings which were only available with a subscription. Maybe it’s worth if you get it as part of a magazine subscription as well but not as standalone. WS mentioned that their website is mobile friendly and the basic info is still free on their site..Version: 6.0.6

Not enough granularitySomewhat useful at a high level, but the lack of granularity prevents this from being very useful. It needs to look at both sub-regions as well as grape variety as not all varieties will respond in the same way in each season within a largere region. What might be a bad year for Shiraz and Riesling may well be a satisfactory or good year for Mataro and Gruner Veltliner within the same region. I would also like to see Australian regions such as Hunter Valley, Tasmania, Great Southern, Margaret River, Mornington & Bellarine Pensinsula, Yarra Valley, Heathcote, Coonawarra, Pyrenees, Rutherglen, Grampians, Adelaide Hills, Fleurie, Hill Tops and other major Australian regions and terroirs listed..Version: 1.3

Place to growExcellent app to help us decide which bottle to open and which to keep, but many regions are not (yet?) represented..Version: 1.3

Canada eh!No Canadian wine reviews! Come on. Niagara wines have been winning awards for years..Version: 0

Good but...Good ap, but clearly with an American focus. Realizing this and not knowing any better I believe the USA ratings to be highly informative. However the Australian charts are very misleading and lack any useful detail. In fact it appears the ratings were derived at by rolling a die, with no correlation to local opinions of vintage qualities. Also, NZ is an obvious and strange omission..Version: 0

It's just an adThis "app" is just an enticement to buy the full app at a monthly fee. Not even a free sample, so cannot even tell if it's worth anything. Complete waste of a download..Version: 3.1

Forced paymentUsed to be the go-to app for knowledge of vintages and wine related articles. Forced to subscribe to use at all. Deleting app..Version: 6.0.6

Need's more infoAlready subscribe to WS magazine and online, so was disappointed that I couldn't access anything other than vintage reviews..Version: 1.3

Very DisappointingAs a long-term subscriber, I find it offensive that I have to pay an additional amount to obtain wine review information that I already have access to online. I'm a huge fan of Wine Spectator, but this looks like a poorly thought out strategy. I hope they reconsider..Version: v2.01

Very disappointing! With the reputation of WineSpectator I was expecting more. So many good appellations missing..Version: 0

A missed opportunity for a great appVintage guide is useful, but controls are clunky, it being hard to open detailed vintage info. Ratings are accurate, but don't go far enough into the past for wines nest drunk older (eg Barolo) nor is there enough regional detail..Version: 1.3

I agree. Where is Canada?Canada should be added eh?.Version: 0

ReviewI think this is a good start but needs to be more regionally based, not just North and South Rhone for example. Also more on Australia! It has the beginnings of becoming a great database over time..Version: 1.3

Helpful but lacking lotsThis is an easy to use app but lacking lots of content including the vast array of award winning Canadian wines..Version: 0

Handy AppI find this app very useful, especially for US wines, less so for other countries because the detail is not there. For example, Italy has just Piedmont and Tuscany..Version: 1.3

Decent startMore regions, incl. Canada, would be nice..Version: 0

Double DippingI have the online subscription why are they charging for access to the App?.Version: 6.1.8

WineloverVery basic information that can only act as a quick guide. Needs more detail about Individual areas as not even enough regions are covered. Needs more attention to old world traditional regions and mention of some great new style wines being produced by great wine makers..Version: 0

Australian infoI was excited when i saw this App, but was sorely disappointed. The info on Australian wine areas is woeful on two counts. 1. It lists 3 wine regions but misses other major areas such as the Hunter Valley in NSW, the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, margaret River in Western Australia, & others (esp in Tasmanian). 2. Overgeneralisation: for example, Coonawarra is a region which encompasses many wine estates which have numerous wine varieties- however the program doesn't recognise this & just lists years & weather & effect- this area is vaste. Another example is the listing for Barossa & McLaren region- these are in fact 2 separate regions quite a long disrance from each other, with different climate patterns & soils which impact on the grapes in different ways, & the variety if grape types vary. Overall, a very unhelpful App, from an Australian perspective. Suggest the developers come & tour Australia & then re-write the App..Version: 1.3

Canada?Would get a higher rating if (like others have pointed out) the app incorporated a wider spectrum of countries (ie. Canada).Version: 0

An add on cost to the magazine and no longer offers vintage chartsAfter subscribing to that magazine for many years, I occasionally would also pay for the digital version. Now that the app removed vintage charts, I’m just not going to renew the magazine either. I get you have to monetize things, but if I can’t even review a vintage chart on my phone in a wine cellar or store where you often don’t have internet access, I can’t justify spending anything with this company..Version: 6.0.6

App is now paid only. Vintage information is gone.App is now paid only. Vintage information is gone. Garbage update. Awful money grab. Guess just use vivino.Version: 6.1.6

Good ... But not quite there yetAs a Wine Spectator Subscriber, I m deeply disappointed that my current subscription with WS does not carry over to this app, where I have been asked $2.99/month for a service which is already accessible online to me. That being said, I'm sure the modifications are great, but since I cannot access them I am forced to simply discredit the app's usefulness and validity. A deeply disappointed WS subscriber..Version: 2.0

Needs more info!Needs more info Tuscany And Piemonte is not enough info for italy Sassicaia Ornellaia??.Version: 1.3

But it's not freeDon't state it's free when it's a subscription service. If u were straight up front I probably would have paid the subs but it just seems under hand. These companies have got to stop treating their customers as idiots. Look at the type of people who would be attracted to this type of App in the first place - they wouldn't have a problem paying for the subs - but you're treating them as tho they're muppets. The Corporate World is changing - consumers are looking for honesty and values .......Version: v2.01

O CanadaaaaaWhat about Canadian wines? Still, not much info on types of wines. I am removing this app..Version: 1.3

Nice little appJust what I need at the wine store. Convenient and simple..Version: 0

It doesn't recognize my subscription.I have an active subscription and the App does not work on my phone..Version: 6.6.0

Only useful if you can use it.What a shame that an opportunity is lost. If you claim to do a job then do your research!! I only hope you remain in the business of selling wine and not making it. Based upon this ap your wines would be very thin blends showing no regional terroir with minimal time in vat before being released showing green tanins, poorly developed nose with no length..Version: 1.3

Greed Kills a Great Idea!I pay $50 a year for WS online where I currently have to interface via a browser to search for wines. I had recommended an app exactly like this which streamlined the wine search process but had never thought they would have the audacity to charge $3/month extra for that service. If this doesn't change I'll cancel my current online subscription. I could see charging a few dollars for this interface to a service that I already pay for but an extra $36/year is just plain greedy. I'll pay more than my current subscription for knock out features like an added barcode scan to search your database, or menu/textual scan which could list the menu wines back with their respective scores and recomended drinking window. Please reconsider your pricing rather than infuriating your loyal customer base by charging so much extra for a better interface to something which they currently pay for..Version: v2.01

Not so preciseWas hoping to type in year and region and then have specific wineries listed but currently is too generic. Was specifically hoping to know a Mondavi 1991 Pinot Noir but that year isn't even listed. Canada should also be listed here - there are a lot of great wines that should be mentioned!.Version: 0

No content without subscriptionIt’s not a free app with additional features, if you pay for them. Now requires paid subscription to access any content. Used to have free content within the app..Version: 6.1.2

Paywall now keeps me from usingWish Wine Spectator would bundle this with print or digital magazine subscription..Version: 6.0.3

App will not loadI downloaded the app. When I try to subscribe, it just spins infinitely. This occurs on my phone and iPad. Not worth the frustration..Version: 6.5.0

Worthwhile For An International PerspectiveThis app is US based, so most Australian (and NZ) wines are not covered. Notably, the scoring system gives lower results than we are used to. Nonetheless, quite valuable for getting an international view..Version: 5.2.8

No use with out subscrptionIs it worth a subscription? Who knows. Can't use it for anything with out paying..Version: v2.01

Double whammyAs a subscriber to Wine Spectator magazine, you are now going to charge me for the mobile app. I’m planning to delete app and may not renew subscription..Version: 6.0.6

Can this be done?A good basic app for amateur collectors - I would personally love to know which vintages are better in terms of quality. For example, is a 2004 Barossa Shiraz better than a 2005? Weather greatly determines the quality of wine and to know what to buy/cellar would be most helpful in one app..Version: 1.3

Good but more depth requiredTo make this a great, not just a good, app more AOC, DO, DOC, GI etc. info should be included.Version: 1.3

DisappointedFor years this application had free version which was sufficient for basic browsing. Suddenly the only option became a paid subscription. While I never used premium options I don’t have any need to use them in the future. Feels like extortion..Version: 6.0.3

Not good for new iPad 2 screen qualityThe 2X view on the iPad 2 doesn't have the quality possible - not sharp. Also, be good if landscape view was a choice. I'm sure the content is useful, but can't get by the poor screen quality..Version: 1.3

AverageNot great or accurate..Version: 1.3

Good reviews but needs...I like this app because in general I can see their rating and make purchase decisions based on them. I also like to read their taste tests and see if I can taste the things they do. But I find searching difficult, and often cannot find what I'm looking for. Label scanning, as us used in other apps, should be added to this one. And although I think the $2.99/month subscription rate is fair, I think I should get more for the money and have all the access that I would get on their website. Wine reviews need to be updated more frequently..Version: 3.3.2

It's a vintage chartIn it's present form, this is a vintage chart and nothing more. A reliable and somewhat detailed vintage chart, mind you (e.g., includes separate entries for white burgundy, red Côte de Beaune and red Côte de Nuits, not just France or Burgundy, but for Italy, has only Tuscany and Piedmont), but otherwise disappointing. I do find it useful for picking wines in restaurants, but otherwise, not the type of experience that Wine Spectator readers expect. In particular, the map is not well implemented. It's just a map of the world with no connection to wine. It doesn't link from the vintage charts, and it doesn't show, for example, the villages of the Côte de Nuit in case, as often happens to me, I am uncertain which Burgundy vintage chart to call upon. The app is free, and I suppose you get what you pay for. I would gladly pay more for more..Version: 0

ScannerWell researched and full of information. It doesn’t cover well the Canadian market. It also lacked a bar code scanner for researching a single wine quickly. You must enter the information correctly to get the right information which is cumbersome when shopping for wine at a store, cellars or winery..Version: 5.2.3

Please add New Zealand!Help tool to know what to drink and when. Would be really helpful if you could also check New Zealand wines....Version: 1.3

British Columbia and Washington state have some spectacular winesLiving in the Pacific north west [B.C.], I have sampled some very remarkable award winning wines that richly deserve recognition by WS. IMHO, "WS" stands for Wine Snobs, and are very myopic in their focus. If you are not aware of the rest of the world, then shame on you. Pull your collective heads out of..... C'mon guys! Get with it! I would gladly upgrade my app to the fuller version, but not if I'm only getting some of the information that I seek..Version: 1.3

Stopped workingAfter about 5 minutes of use it the opening screen broke and now I can't select a country. Was great before then. Deleting now..Version: 1.3

Pay again?Nice idea, but if I already pay for accessing the ratings online, why should I pay again to have it on a app? Unless... I cancel my other subscription..Version: v2.01

Italian WineHow come do we find so few Italian Wine The first or second more important producer ?.Version: 0

Canadian content?Where are all the wonderful Canadian wines? Hmmmmm. Typical wine dictator style..Version: 0

Terrible customer service! My subscription expired but my attempt to renew on the app did not work. Called customer service to resolve twice. Unsuccessful because reps can barely speak English and could not explain a confusing array of options. Finally, I gave up. Renewing not worth hassle..Version: 6.4.7

Good for old world only.I like it for the old world info, as living in Australia it's good to check for the stand out vintages of Barolo, Ribera del Duero etc.. However as many other reviewers have said it is very biased towards the over priced and US.Version: 1.3

Good in a pinchMost helpful when faced with two unreviewed wines from different vintages or regions. Improves odds when choosing wines blind. Not the everyday goto app, but good in a pinch..Version: 0

Not functionalNever have been able to get it to load or run. Sounds good, but no use if it will not load on my iPhone here in Australia..Version: 1.3

UsefulIt would be nice to have more information, otherwise a good app.Version: 0

Useful Tool for OenophilesWell-considered and useful tool for oenophiles, however, lacks reasonable Canadian content..Version: 0

Where is nz?New Zealand doesn't exist according to WS.Version: 1.3

Good conceptThis app has good roots, with lots of room to grow. When more regions get added (Canada, more old world appellations) and more detail gets added to vintage comments things get good. When reviews of representative wines from those regions and vintages get added things get great! Keep working on it WS!.Version: 1.3

App doesn’t allow subscriptionJust circles endlessly when trying to sign up for paid subscription. Useless..Version: 6.5.0

Vintage chartThe application is for iPhone. It will be nice if there is an application for iPad..Version: 1.3

Basic. Ok. Lacks Canada. The app. Is competent but strange menu hierarchy that does not take advantage of Apple interface guidelines to provide more info per view and accommodate easy back navigation. No Canadian listings....Version: 0

TerribleIt says free but that's only to download the app! LOL!!! It won't work unless you subscribe for $ Rip off!!!.Version: v2.01

Irritating your loyal subscribersI subscribe to the magazine! I subscribe to the website! And now you’re forcing me to subscribe to this app just to get the vintage charts?! This makes me so angry that I’m considering canceling everything and sending my money to Enthusiast, Advocate, and Decanter instead. I have now DELETED THE APP since the paywall was instituted, after using it frequently over the past couple of years..Version: 6.0.7

Used to be goodI used this app frequently whenever buying wine but now it says I need to restore my purchase in order to view the ratings? Yet their website says the wine ratings are free on the app. Somebody needs to figure that out because something is wrong. Either the app or the website..Version: 6.0.3

Used to work now requires expensive subscriptionSome features were free, now you cannot use unless you pay hefty subscription. Had to delete.Version: 6.0.5

So far so goodIncomplete but so far have been useful. Would be nice to see a retina display-compatible version..Version: 0

Canadian reviews pleaseJust wondering if Canada could be added? We have a few good ones!.Version: 1.3

Great when it worksI'm getting way too many error messages on the app at the moment when searching for wines. Works really well when it works.Version: 4.3

Accuracy of infoAny app is only as good as the info it contains. Working closely with the Australian wine industry I can tell you the rating for 2003 and 2006 as stated are just wrong. 2003 was an excessively hot vintage whose wines have aged poorly and 2006 is widely regarded as the best vintage since 2004. Erobertparker also rated the 2003 too highly and when I informed them that the local opinion was not favourable from leading wine writers they thanked me for the feedback and revised their rating down - good on you Mr Parker. Spectator said nothing..Version: 0

OkGood app but it needs to be updated, no vintages more recent then 2008.Version: 1.3
