I have used this app for medium format photography, and every photo is perfectly exposed. I've also tested the app against a real light meter and it hit the same settings every time. ✓ Replaces my Sekonic Light Meter and Polaroid Back!Best photography app I have ever encountered! I bought the chap two pints!! Thanks for removing the ads. Upgrade wish list: Histogram and a fully Manual Mode. Would be grand if I could place the focal point over a grey card, set f stop and Exposure as desired and see a histogram, rather than fumble around trying to find the Zone placement I desire by tapping various parts of the scene till the values fall where I want them. This takes a bit of time in scenes with wide variation in light and shadow. Otherwise this app has been a tremendous boon! I have done tests against my Sekonic meter with consistent results. And logging the scene with metadata affords me similar luxury of making Polaroid proofs while simultaneously recording metadata. Kudos!.Version: 9.5

✓ Invaluable!I started using this app a few years ago as a “Hail Mary” during a shooting session on film when I had forgotten a light meter. This performed so well once the film was developed that I sold my light meter. When I started shooting video a year later, I continued using this to keep me grounded while shooting LOG. ✓ Counting photonsNot quite yet. On the good side - measures exposure correctly (like a real light meter) so one can use it for the zone system. Spot metering by taping on the screen helps a lot. Settings are practical. On the other side - just getting rid of the adds (for $1.99) doesn't last if application is reinstalled. Probably one needs to buy the author a beer (for $5.99) to get rid if the adds permanently.. The worst part is once you get rid of the adds, the field where the adds were is like a blind spot - you cannot place the cursor there for spot metering. ✓ Light MeterExcellent performance! Accurate enough for Zone System. I'm using Light Meter with a Fuji GSW690III FP4+ in HC110 (b) and find it really easy to use the ISO numbers to add 1 and 2/3rds stop equivalent for the orange filter. The results are exactly as I hoped for. A nice "touch" is that you simply touch the image on the screen on any areas that you wish to check the exposure without moving the iPhone so you can take several spot readings at once..Version: 8.2

✓ Not bad at all!Although others had left good reviews for this, I was still a little sceptical. I shoot medium format transparencies so exposure needs to be pretty much spot on. I used this for the first time last week whilst shooting landscapes in Derbyshire, had the slides developed a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised! The only downside is that it reverts to defaults and you have to select sone settings again and again. Other than this, a great little app..Version: 0

Okay I've only used it for this shoot but I have to say really very well done to the developer. ✓ Note from developerI am the developer of this application. The problem with black screen is an unexpected compatibility issue with iOS 4.1. I have already fixed it, the update is waiting for approval from Apple. The update will be published in about a week. Meanwhile, you can try to restart your phone; it helps in 90% of the cases. Another workaround is trying to restart the application alone. To do so you have to press the home button to see the home screen. Then press the home button twice (like double-click) to have a list of currently running applications to slide in from the bottom of the screen. At this point you should see PLM icon on the list. Press and hold that icon until a red circle with minus sign appears in the top corner of the icon. Press that circle, and the application will be terminating. Restarting the application helps sometimes. The permanent fix is ready, it is with Apple, it will be published in about a week..Version: 0

✓ Works beautifully when compared against a Sekonic L-208I was a little sceptical about this app. I've wondered about using my iPhone as a spot meter to accompany an old Yashicamat 124G (whose meter was removed) since my Sekonic L-208 is rather the worse for wear. I've been testing it against the L-208 (though of course the Sekonic also functions as an incident meter) and the spot metering is pretty accurate. Tap to specify the exact area you wish to meter, wait for the sensor to settle down and you get a really rather accurate reading. Perhaps it's off by 1/3 or a stop ... but only just. All in all a brilliant little app that will allow me to leave the Sekonic at home when I'm out having fun with an old camera!.Version: 0

✓ GobsmackedHeard about this on Film Photography Podcast and thought "oh yeh!" Tried it cos it's free, tested it with grey card against spotmeter in my EOS 3 and it was bang same in several conditions. So happy I paid for it and opted to buy the developer a pint, so cheers mate keep up the good work! As a follow up to my initial euphoria: I have using this some time now with my Bronica shooting Velvia 50 film (quite unforgiving of errors) and it has been quite consistently accurate. It is possible to check different exposure aspects of the display image so a kind of spot metering is possible. I still maintain my 5 star rating and you can't even get a secondhand Weston Master V for the cost of a pint!.Version: 8.3.1

✓ GooooodI've been using this app continuously for about eight months now on an ipod touch. It's accurate. Many, many rolls of black and white have come out reliably exposed, more often than not with a good/ very good dynamic range. It's coincident with almost every reliable light meter i've checked it against. It really doesn't perform well in low light though; and this is the one and only fault i can pick with it. I'd imagine that this is a limitation of the hardware, not the app. The layout is minimal and intuitive, and offers a simple but useful level of customisation. The option of whole/ half/ third stops in the aperture and shutter speed settings is brilliant and makes metering very quick, especially when using a variety of lenses or when shooting in time-sensitive situations. The log/dropbox function is very clever, but I haven't used it. This is easily the best free light meter app, if not the best all round..Version: 8.2

✓ Great app and best of all free!I use this app when shooting medium format film on old cameras without meters. I have compared the readings to '90s Canon SLRs as well as late model compact digitals and a professional grade Minolta exposure meter and it is never far off. Certainly far more accurate than needed for colour neg or black and white, and good enough for colour slide most of the time too. The save feature is great, takes a low res photo of the scene with all info, exposure settings, time, date etc. This is my EXIF data when I catalogue my negatives later....Version: 8.1
