✓ Very good app, but...Very good idea as a concept. The problem is that most of the pictures are of very bad quality and some of it have nothing to do with the subject. ✓ Not too badHere are the pros and cons. Pros: Many different beings from all over the world. Short yet informative descriptions. Images. Cons: A few of the entries were either wrong or should have another entry (I.e unicorn). Needs more creatures. Annoying notification on other apps that you could purchase. ✓ Decent description, accurate info, poor photos, sends you to googleThis is a decent app. It has some accurate information, if it has information for the creature. One creature said what the creature was in one sentence and to look up under another creature but didn't give the creature to look under. Much of the information is vague. They also have junky pictures, like they found the first picture that popped up in the search. Almost all the pictures are pixelated. The origins are accurate. If you swipe over to more pictures or info it sends you to Google looking up the entire first sentence of the creature'a description..Aric CVersion: 10.0

✓ Very good presentation but lacks sources.I like how this app presents information. The navigation is intuitive and the graphics remind me of the aesthetics used in RPG games set in the distant past before the days of printer paper. However, one point I think is a major flaw is that the app gives information at face value and neglects to provide credible sources for the information beyond a cursory listing of the cultural origin of the mythical creature. Because of this omission, the credibility of the information in the app is dubious at best. I hope this gets addressed in a future update, though I have no experience with how this developer operates or whether they even read the reviews so I'm hoping for the best..Lazy JellyfishVersion: 8.0

✓ Canadian Folklore & Mythological Creatures?Canada is a country that seems to have missed the list by origin!? Creatures from the Aboriginal people, such as the lake monster, Ogo Pogo, etc., are missing and rightfully deserve a place here. Would also like to see more Folklore Creatures. The Jersey Devil, etc. also seem to be missing?! Why? Aside from this, a GREAT App worth the money! Sharing via Twitter, MySpace,Facebook, & email with friends would be a great addition also!!! ✓ Needs to be gamifiedThis app has a great collection of information, but it should be more interactive, with games to help users learn about the creatures, such as flash cards and crossword puzzles. Users should be able to attain levels of expertise with "rewards". Maybe a social element as well like "which creature are you?".Pattern writerVersion: 9.1

✓ NO PICTURES!!! Deceptive descriptionContrary to the description and images shown next to the creatures in the screenshot, there is not ONE single picture included in this app. All you get is a very short description and a link to a Google image search for the creature. Unfortunately because most of the creatures are so obscure (which is cool, and why I bought the app) that most of them don't return any decent results. Most of the time it doesn't even return an image that matches the thumbnail next to the name, so I don't even know where they got those from. I buy a LOT of apps, and I rarely leave negative reviews because most of the time it's only a dollar or two down the drain, but I felt the description of this app was so misleading, and the content so weak, that I had to spare others the disappointment. AVOID. * * * EDIT: I'm updating my rating from one star to three. They have updated the app so that it includes the top googled image result for offline viewing. However most of these images are very poor quality, and there is no consistency in style. I hope the developers realize that they don't own the copyright to any of these illustrations and any one of the artists could sue them if they wanted to. To make this a great app (and avoid getting sued), they really should hire a single artist to illustrate all the creatures. ✓ Fun but unpolishedWhile it's a fun app for browsing random entries, the content could use a LOT of work. Certain characters don't display properly. Some entries seem to have been cut-and-pasted without any proofreading. The app's monster images were culled from the Internet with mixed success; in 5 minutes of browsing, I came across entries illustrated with anime characters, movie stills, and unrelated fantasy books. (If you're going to take pictures from the D&D monster manual, at least be accurate about it!) That said, it's still an easy-to-use app with lots of entries to browse. 99 cents gets you an interesting, portable encyclopedia of mythical creatures, but it would need a serious round of editing to be worth MORE than that..CrowseaVersion: 1.91
