Decibel Meter Pro for Negative User Reviews

Keeps asking to allow microphoneApp keeps asking to allow access to the microphone but there’s no option in setting to allow. Just Siri and mobile data..Version: 4.0

NiceNice app, visuals are great and it's user friendly. Would be nice to have a graph to display peaks..Version: 1.0.4

Skip it unless you have brand newUsed to be good, but they've updated it to where I can't use it. Glad I got it free or I would be quite angry..Version: 3.0.1

Needs app to be sortedThis app is not accurate will not read below 50db even in a very quiet room and that's with offset at -10db Select another app If accuracy is required graphics are nice though shame its not accurate..Version: 2.0.5

Not bad.Really want a graph export.Version: 2.0.5

Waste of time. I want my money back! This meter is useless if there is any background noise. Not enough adjustment to de-sensitise. Wasn't expecting it to be accurate, but with 3-4 friends aorund talking, the meter was at the top of the scale 90% of the time making it useless..Version: 1.0.4

IPhone 4s on iOS 9.0.2 not supported! Was a good app, till the developers got lazy and discontinued support for the 4s I can use iOS 9.02 but they decide to make the update unavailable. Lame.Version: 3.0

Doesn’t work at allOpened it today for the first time in a while and it doesn’t work. At all. Reads zero on all dials. Checked microphone permissions and settings, deleted and reinstalled, nothing worked. Completely broken..Version: 5.1

Safety leadNot so good I have to calibrate it all the time and it still not that accurate..Version: 2.0.5

UsefulStill tweaking, but appears to meet my needs. Not looking for formal readings, but good enough for general comparisons of noise / sound levels. In my case related to aviation sound levels..Version: 2.0.1

ToysRUsMore toy than a real usable app. Felt tricked into getting it as the details of it appeared on screen whilst not looking.Version: 2.0.1

Not a fan of the “vintage car” lookFunctions great but looks very cheesy now..Version: 5.0

Not accurate! It is impossible for this app to be accurate. In a closed bathroom in the middle of the night just sitting there it read 60db. Ridiculous!!! It is nicely done for the graphics portion but for accuracy as a sound meter it is worthless. I definitely feel cheated out of 99 cents + tax..Version: 2.0.5

No recordingSimply it can’t save the noise into an audiogram to playback..Version: 5.1

UselessI have a number of test .wav files containing sound in the 17.5 -19 KHz range. This app doesn' t "hear" anything in any of the frequency weightings available, while all the other (free) dB meters I tried, correctly detected the power output of the speaker (60-70 dB). Total waste of money. Uninstalling right now. Note: This is not something specific to this app since all the others seem to suffer from the same issue, but in standardazied measurement methologies, the Max is never greater than the Peak. Developers, better do your homework before asking $ for your crap. It's obvious now why this app doesn'thave a free version for testing: nobody would pay a dime for this nonsense..Version: 3.0.2

Crashing!Doesn't work - crashes upon opening..Version: 3.0

Will not installNot compatible with this iPhone......Version: 3.0.1

Decibel meterSimple and workable guide for measuring the impact of sound. This is an interesting tool to start to understand the levels of sound around us. This is great app and delivers on its ability to measures sound..Version: 2.0.5

Only okayThe meter works, but it’s only useful in the moment. It doesn’t track or hold any info. For instance, if you want to know how many decibels you were exposed to during the last hour, this is useless. #1, it only stays on as long as your screen is set up to stay awake, so to test an hour-long music class, for example, you’d have to change your phone settings to never auto-lock. #2, it will show the max decibel in whatever time period you left the display open, but there’s no way to see how long the sound stayed at that decibel. So let’s say the dial says the max was 103 decibels. Well, the World Health Org says you won’t get hearing damage if that 103 decibels was for less than 45 seconds, but unless you were staring at the dial for the entire time and counting in your head, you would have no clue what that max # means. If you leave the screen for any reason, like to answer a call, it resets to zero. It doesn’t test what the actual metric of hearing damage is measured by: both decibels and length of exposure.Version: 4.0.2

Good app goes bad.....When I downloaded this app 2 months ago it worked well and was amazingly accurate when measured against a 'real' Db meter. It was easy to use and measured all the way up to 149Db (I work in an airport...). HOWEVER, since the last update, everything measures at 69 or 70 Db and peak and max are just a long list of seemingly random numbers. The app is now useless and needs fixing fast, before I go elsewhere.....Version: 2.0.1

OkayConvenient. Not so sure about its accuracy. Decibels seem high. Don't have a sound meter to calibrate it. Good for relative measurements, though..Version: 4.0.2

Little or no noise. Not really that great..Version: 2.0.5

No iPhone 5 compatibility any moreWon't update to new version.....Version: 3.0

No longer works with iPhone 5??This app used to work with the iPhone 5 and now suddenly it is no longer supported? FAIL!!.Version: 3.0

Don't waste $1Only goes up to 100 db and basically everything it reads is 100 lol Fail app.Version: 0

Not satisfied.Although the interface is nice, and offers nice features such as calibration. It is not accurate at all. Tested it in a very quiet room, where I am supposed to be getting 30 db, but instead it's reading it in 50s!!! Even with the calibration, it is not enough, the readings is just way off!.Version: 2.0.5

Not badIt seams to work but without something calibrated to compare it to who knows..Version: 2.0.1

Update does not work on IOS 11.2Installed this latest update and when opening the app it requests access to the microphone but the privacy settings for the microphone on my iPhone do not show this app as being available to grant microphone access resigning the updated app as useless. Where is the developer testing prior to app update release!.Version: 4.0

OkI love the app but UPGRADE SO IT CAN BE USED FOR IPHONE 5!!!.Version: 2.0.5

Another rubbish app.Not accurate / misleading. Waste of money..Version: 2.0.5

IosDoes not work on iphone with ios7.Version: 2.0.5

JonoApplication very poor. Should be used as a toy only. I don't see any situation where this app would be of any use in real life. Other apps seem to be much more accurate..Version: 1.0.4

Not a good appNo support on their website and no updates.Version: 2.0

Won’t InstallEven though they say it will install on iPhone 5 it won’t. As I just tried to update from previous version on my iPhone I'm getting a warning that I can’t update on my phone, a iPhone 5. What gives?.Version: 3.0.1

Can I have my money back? Its stuck on 68/70 and the peak/average are all over the place. I wish I listened to the other reviews. I will hapily withdraw my negative review if they can fix it so it does what it should do..Version: 2.0.1

???Sa marche meme pas pour vrai!.Version: 2.0.5

Latest Update fails to request mic accessThe update that just occurred does not request mic access. Thus the app can’t take sound readings, nor is there a way under “privacy->microphone” to turn it on... I love this when it works....Version: 4.0

Do not update or PurchaseWas a 5 star audio testing utility prior to its update which has severely crippled the functionality and usability experience making a simple task like a Tone Sweep cumbersome and annoying. Check out Signal Generator by Media Punk Studios for a fantastic audio testing utility, which closely resembles this applications interface before it was updated and destroyed..Version: 3.1

Half usefulThe problem with all of these apps is they only give real time data, would be much more useful if it included a trace of say last 3 minutes so that the sound can be analyzed, and saved for future reference, if this could be built in it would be a killer app..Version: 2.0

Not accurateReads 51 db in a very quiet bedroom (vs 30db on another meter). That is a huge difference. Cannot trust it's readings..Version: 2.0.5

RubbishReads 46db in an empty silent room!.Version: 2.0.5

ReasonableCould be improved by allowing average values over a short period of time rather than just instantaneous readings. I have no idea how accurate it is but the readings seem reasonable..Version: 2.0.1

Will install on iPhone 5 nowThanks for the update. Will now install on my iPhone 5. Simple operate, i.e.; peak and average reset by touching. Can be recalibrated if required. Thanks to the author(s).Version: 3.0.2

Joke appNot serious meter. not worth money..Version: 0

False Sense of SecurityThis app seems to underreport the actual loudness of sounds by quite a bit, which could lend the user to listen at unsafe levels. As far as I could tell, it reads 80-85db sounds around 70db. Try the free app “dBMeter” instead, seems much more accurate.Version: 5.1

Stuck at 69-70dBIt just doesnt work... Might be related to the latest update as reported on the ratings....Version: 2.0.1

Readings are way too lowI downloaded dbmeter pro along with one other decibel reader program. I also have a handheld decibel reader that I have used for some time. The dbmeter pro program consistently recoded readings 15 a 20 decibels less than the other two. Common logic tells me that when I am in a room where the music is very loud, the other program as well as my hand-held recording 90 dbs are much more accurate than the average 74 reading on dbmeter pro..Version: 3.1

Db meter proDo not like the change from the simple meter that I origonally bought to the uninteligable double clock type that the app has been changed to. Will now have to buy another app to replace this one.Conned. Dunnyrail -1000 out of 100 for changing a good app needlesly..Version: 2.0.1

OK!Generally a good app with clear, easy to read displays. Its only fault is the MAX scale only goes to 100db..it will get a 5 star rating from me when it's expanded..Version: 1.0.4

OkQuite accurate its just a shame it only records db's up to 100. App store shows multiple screens however there is only one functional display screen available..Version: 0

Even if it's only 99 centsI'd have to agree with an earlier reviewer that there's something not quite right with the accuracy. For some reason I'd get 55-60 in a very quiet room with no noise at all. I also downloaded Decibel 10 for free and got a reading of 40-45 in the same room under the same conditions. Even if it's 99 cents, I've overpaid--I'll probably disable it..Version: 2.0.5

Decidel meterIt's ok. Freezes, but when it works it's within 3db of my other.Version: 2.0
