Nike Run Club: Running Coach for Negative User Reviews

No more/very limited “plans”This was an amazing feature. Even though I don’t use the app regularly, I’ve convinced several of my friends and family to use this app because of the ability to customize a plan with you’re age, weight, height, current ability and the adaptive nature of the running programs you had to chose from. You could put in a particular race date and the app would help you reach your goal by using the workouts you completed and change as you went along. There were even “getting started” plans that were only 4wks and other options of you’re just getting started. I was about to do one of the getting started plans since a race I was going to do got canceled due to COVID. But unfortunately, this morning I saw none of them were available anymore! Now you have to click on a link to get to the Nike website to get to a limited supply of programs now for 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon and the amount of weeks is already set. Not nearly as adaptive or convenient. I’m extremely disappointed. This was the feature I liked the most on this app. I’d even pay for it if I could! But there is no such option. I spent the past hour just trying to find a comparable app or even if I’d be able to download the old version but it is it possible. Please please please bring this feature back and I’d gladly give a 5 star review!!!!.Version: 7.0

Latest update has issuesAfter a run today I noticed the data transferred to Fitness and Health apps but the actual run is not showing as a workout in either app..Version: 7.2.0

Coach function is unusableI’ve been using the QuickStart part of NRC no problem but I have a fun run coming up so wanted to use the Coach. To cut a long story short the Benchmark part of my program kept crashing. I tried five times and it crashed every time. As the Benchmark is a key part of developing your program I have no choice but to try something else. I use running to counter stress, NRC has done the opposite. I’d also add that this is the first iOS app I’m abandoning due to unreliability. I’m giving it two stars as the non Coach part of the app is okay..Version: 5.11.2

Kilomètres not adding up accuratelyMy daughter and I start at the same time and cover exactly the same distance. Yet she shows 1km ahead of me????? How is that? Really demotivating!!!.Version: 6.10.0

HorrendousI have no idea how this app has 4.7 stars. Amongst other things, the most unusable flaw in this app is it’s responsiveness. It takes up to 7 seconds for clicked buttons to initiate the command, and up to 10 taps while sweating to get it to work. When you’re half way through a 25k run and you accidentally close the workout, it leaves a sour taste in your mouth. Admittedly the Apple watch is not an ideal runners watch in itself. It’s a complicated computer (compared to other watches that undertake very specific functions), so too much can go wrong out on the track. Sorry for the neg review but it’s a very frustrating app..Version: 5.11.2

Apple Watch Syncing IssuesLove the app but I’ve been having consistent issues with syncing my run from Apple Watch onto the phone app. The only work around I’ve been able to find is restarting both the Watch app and the phone app and then trying again. Yesterday when I did this the Watch app forgot about the run I had just completed and it’s been lost to the void..Version: 7.32.0

Nike, what were you thinking???I have to say, as an avid Nike+ runner, I am simply shocked at this redesign of what once was a fun way to run. Don't get me wrong, having a personal record of 29 seconds for my 1K PB is awesome, but also a lie, so it doesn't feel good. The fact that you simply ignored any constructive criticism only to be topped by completely removing the comment section full with anger has not made it any better. Wow - you are NIKE!!!! Seriously, did you even consider Beta-testing? You have basically removed anything that was fun from the previous predecessor - sure it was old, but at least it did what the user expected. Go ahead, keep ignoring the complaints, they will disappear as fast as the user group you once had. It takes a lot for me to give zero stars, but you succeeded, so congrats on that - even better, I actually have to give it a star in order to send it....! I will be gone soon, hope that shiny Apple Nike watch no one will wear partnership is worth it. Above was my earlier review. While slightly improved, I am still shocked of the mistakes your app continues to pile up (latest was not receiving a platinum month - thanks, Nike) and I am seriously considering spending the money to port over my stats to Strava. The fact I can’t look at any stats of friends (even though they accepted me as friends) other than total distance run is beyond disappointing. Used to be a fan - now, just living with your mistake ridden app. UPDATE: now a few years later and with the Apple Watch, would actually give it zero stars if I could, but it won’t let me. This month I have lost 4 runs as they did not sync - with the Nike app team doing what it does best: ignore any complaints. Seriously, stay away - arrogant incompetence at its best. Nike fail..Version: 6.2.1

App on watch and phone, not the same resultsAgain, running with an Apple Watch (Series 3) and iPhone 7. I launched the app on my Apple watch and phone at the same time for a 7k run. Results at completion: Watch: 7k run at 5:12/km pace Phone: 6.12k run 5:55/km pace Really!? This is a problem for me. Regards, Martin.Version: 6.11.0

Please fix errorI have been using this app to train for my half marathon and overall am very happy and appreciative for the coaching and motivation it has provided me. I have removed stars because of an error in the guided runs… I’m currently on 4 weeks to go and the speed runs have not been keeping accurate track of my ex er use time or mileage. For example, today’s speed run was 41 mins long, but during each rest period where I slow down to my recovery pace, it does not track the miles I’m running in that time nor the time itself. So it was logged in the app that I did only a 30 min workout and ran 1 mile less than I did. Over days this is amounting to quite a few miles not logged every month. I’m very annoyed by this error, enough that it warrants more than one star removed. There is one other thing that annoys me and it’s that a couple of the coaches (like the British male coach) interrupts my run waaaay too frequently that I can barely get into the rhythm of my music. He interjects 3-5 times during a single 5 min interval and it’s so much that I nearly do want to quit the workout and just run to my music. Please remove a few of these excessive interruptions..Version: 7.19.0

Please Fix Speed Runs for My Coach RunsI enjoy the concept of a a guided workout plan that adjusts depending on your progress to help you reach your goals. One aspect of this app that I’m disappointed with is the general interface for tracking runs on your iPhone. For the speed runs, you have to manually keep track of your own intervals, something that could be automatically performed by the app. I also can’t find a way for the app to track your rest intervals so you can easily know when to start running again. Doing this manually distracts you from your run, and breaks the momentum of your workout..Version: 6.10.0

Removing coach feature is not an improvementThe coach feature helped me plan and complete races starting at 5k all the way to a marathon. The recent removal of this feature has completely made me apathetic towards this app..Version: 7.4.0

Please fixI’ve been running a lot lately since the warmer is much nicer outside and I finally was able to hit 5:50 per KM just under 6 minutes. I was really proud of this achievement since I’m not really a runner nor do I play sports on a regular basis. Then the update with the App happen. After the update, the app was showing that I was doing 8 minutes per KM which didn’t make sense at all. I figure the issue would be resolve sooner or later since the update is still new and I’m sure the IT guys within Nike would be aware of this issue. After 3-4 more runs, it was still showing that I’m running at a 8 mins per KM. I got super fed up so i decided to run with my Fitbit and guess what? My Fitbit showed I was doing 5:45-5:50 per KM. Sorry Nike but you just lost a user!.Version: 6.11.0

Great for Beginners, Not So Much for ExperiencedWhen I began running 5 years ago, I loved the app because it motivated me to run. The guided runs were always fun and uplifting to listen to during a run. I also really liked the coaching tab that had coaching for beginners, strength building, and for racing. I started out with coaching for beginners, then went to coaching for strength, and then coaching for my first half marathon race. Fast forward five years now, and I’ve outgrown the app because they’ve taken away the coaching for racing that adapts to your runs automatically. Now the coaching is “canned”, static, and does not adjust to the runner. Also, I’d like to sync my runs to running community apps, like Strava. However, the Nike Run Club app doesn’t sync to anything which makes it hard to share my progress with friends and my local running groups. Nike Run Club doesn’t have any running clubs in my area. They are only in the biggest of cities. For this reason I gave Nike Run Club app three stars. I would be happy to give it more stars if they brought back the adaptable coaching and allowed the app to sync with other apps. It does sync to Apple Health, but Apple Health won’t easily export all the run data, like splits, intervals/laps, etc. Apple Health only exports summary run data to other apps. Nike Run Club needs to build a direct integration to popular running community apps so all the run data can be viewed and analyzed in those apps..Version: 7.8.0

STILL, YES, STILL GARBAGEUpdate after update Nike is adding useless features yet they still can’t make this app work properly on an Apple Watch. Ridiculous that this app is still an “Editors Choice” to boot when it’s just simply NOT WORKING! Same annoying problems as months ago when I last used it. Not synchronizing with my iPhone so my runs are lost, ending the tracking of a run in the middle of it, stopping and restarting the tracking of a run in the middle of it for no reason, not responding when trying to stop a run upon completion... Yes, it’s still complete and hopeless garbage. I’m amazed that so many other users seem to have similar problems yet the developers of this app still can’t find their way out of a paper bag and have it work properly on an Apple Watch. I’m also surprised that this app gets decent reviews. Are all those positive reviews fake? Come on, if it’s not synchronizing with your iPhone and you’re loosing the data relating to your runs, it’s just not working and it deserves ZERO stars, not even one star. Fortunately, I also rely on my Apple Workouts app so I can still track my activities even when the Nike Run app malfunctions. Given that the Apple Workout app has gotten better over time in terms of the features and analytics it offers, and is stable as a rock, I’m going to switch completely to it. No more frustration in dealing with this ridiculous piece of Nike garbage and, big bonus, I’m going to be freeing up 700MB of storage space..Version: 6.5

Couple of problemsI like the coach and the training plans. I did a speed session yesterday and although it has recorded the session and has the split times it does not show the session as completed in the plan and it will not let me allocate it to a session. Only some types of run will work with the Apple Watch on its own. Recovery run and tempo run are mostly ok. When I start the session it will normally replicate it on the watch. I can then pause it and then head out with just the watch. I still need to end the session on the phone and allocate the session recorded on the watch to the relevant session in the plan. Doesn’t seem to match it up again when the watch gets back in range of the phone. Speed and benchmark runs do not transfer to the watch at all and these are the ones that would be best if it could be controlled from the watch. Might be good to add warm up and cool down to the speed and tempo sessions..Version: 5.17.0

Way off on distance when just using a phoneStarted this app vs mapmyrun by UA and Nike said 8km vs UA 5 km. I ran a track so I know the distance and UA was correct..Version: 7.24.0

Would be great if it could save runs consistently.I’ve used the app for two months now, tracking runs on my Series 3 iWatch brought specifically in May 2020 to track runs. The app is a bit laggy and the syncing sometimes takes a day or two, but other than this the app is generally fine. However, over the two month period I have had the app crash seven times which has resulted in the run data being lost (including three half marathons). This occurs once the run has been completed, and I’ve select to finish the run; looking online I’ve seen numerous others report the same issue. Because of this, I wouldn’t recommend the app to anyone who is interested in tracking their running or working on improving their performance as much strongly as I would recommend a payment app that said “every month we’re going to take three payments out of your account without paying the recipient”. Not sure how a company as significant as Nike has signed off on a run tracking app that can’t reliably track runs..Version: 6.9.1

App is getting more buggy every monthI absolutely used to love this app. Over the last months more and more bugs have creeped in however. First the syncing with the Apple Watch stopped working properly and constant reinstalls of the app were necessary. Then the app stopped recognising that I was using the coach function and started normal runs. A reinstall fixed that but now with the latest version the benchmark run even stopped working. Please Nike, focus on getting the bugs out first before adding any more new features. Maybe work with multiple users that are having these issues and make this App great again!.Version: 6.0.0

Update is garbageI was injured and couldn’t run for a few months. When I started running again and opened the Nike app I realized the run plans are gone. I was directed to a PDF document with about 25 pages of writing. There is no individualize of the run plans. I liked the ability to just set up a plan with the app then just follow it as prescribed. Since the run plans are gone, so is the usefulness of the app..Version: 7.2.1

Great features....but room for improvementThis app is overall great, the guided runs really set it apart and are such an excellent motivator. I do, however, have a few frustrations mainly built around the ‘my coach’ feature. 1) The ‘my coach’ plan is a great concept, giving a variety of different goal types and selecting various different runs to work towards those goals. Sadly, although it boasts to adapt as you work through the plan, I have gone through 6 weeks, 3 benchmark runs (and all runs being considerably quicker than the recommended pace) and yet still not change (or option to adapt) plan. 2) The speed runs. As many others, I truly believed I was using the app wrong when I started doing them...surely I wouldn’t have to run holding my phone, looking down to check my distance, then manually lap and pause, exit the app to time my rest period, then resume and repeat again?! It would make a world of difference if some rest periods and simple audio queues were added into this programmed run. If those 2 issues were resolved (particularly #1) this would be my top recommended running app!.Version: 6.8.0

No voice-over for splits during runsNot sure when the app started having this issue. I would say at least 2 weeks ago. I’m assuming it was after an app update. I run the Nike app via my Apple Watch. During a run the voice-over for splits is no more. If for some reason I stop mid run I get the voice notification that my run is paused/stared but that’s it. I miss my hearing my splits telling what KM I’m at and my pace. Now I have to actually look at my watch which is distracting and not functional whatsoever. PLEASE FIX!! ASAP.Version: 7.24.0

Good but need a little improvementI love how it’s been helping me train for my first 10k! It adjusts its workout to meet me where I’m at in my running experience which is really nice. A few things I wish they’d improve on: 1. Explaining their workouts a little. For example today I needed to run 4 intervals of 400m however I just had the workout going the entire time in between. I wasn’t informed that I needed to pause the workout in between intervals so by the time I was done it looked like I only completed 1 interval. 2. There are still some glitches they need to work through. There have been multiple times when I’ve gotten on the app and gone to where my “coach” should be for my 10k training and nothing is there so all of my training has disappeared and there’s no evidence of it ever happening. Typically if I exit the app and try again 30 mins later my training will show up again. However I didn’t know that the first time it happened so I just started a whole new training plan which was a little frustrating. 3. Sometimes I’ll begin one of the scheduled workouts but when I finish it, it log it in/ appear as if I completed or even started it from the weekly overview screen. So if I want my plan to be marked as completed that day I’ll have to manually go back and add another workout simply enter in my progress from the workout I just did..Version: 5.18.1

No more “Coach’s Plan”With COVID-19 canceling my team practices, I was on my own when working out. I had no one telling me what to do & when, and as a result I stopped working out. Then I found the nike running club app- they had several coach programs you could personalize to tell you what to do in order to reach your goals. I loved it; the feature was amazing! Now they’ve taken that away. Why?? No idea- it was the best part of the app. I’m now on my own again & I have no idea what I’m doing. I can’t imagine why they thought taking away this program would be beneficial, but until they reinstall it, I’ll be struggling with creating my own workout plan now. I’m upset- at least they could’ve charged money for it instead it taking it away completely. Please bring this feature back because I know other people share my disappointment. Until then, I’ll be trying to find a new app that offers a coaching program..Version: 7.1.0

Not working on Apple WatchNo longer works on Apple Watch. I think it’s since iOS 16.Version: 7.17.0

No coachingOnly reason I used the app.Version: 7.3.0

Why no coaching option now?I was pleased to use this app for a long time specially because of tailored coaching option which has been now deleted... bad move Nike! You’ll loose many users because of this move! Not cool at all!!! You basically can do same things with any running app... you took away one of the most important things that made you the highlight of the pack... very disappointed!.Version: 7.4.0

Slow now and doesn’t syncUsed to be great but the coach function is now extremely slow to load on my phone. I would love to see a way to make a running plan without sprints. I’m also annoyed with the fact that it doesn’t seem to sync with NTC that I’ve done a NTC workout (as per my coach plan). Googling this shows people having this issue as far back as late 2016....Version: 5.12.1

Distance tracking unreliableI am unsure how many stars to give this app. I previously used Strava but found as a solo runner there was little point to it as it seems to be mostly about linking to other runners and competing on segments etc which I was not interested in. I had to set my account to private for safety reasons (as a female, early morning solo runner) which meant I couldn’t enter most challenges etc. So I switched to NRC. To begin with I was extremely impressed with the guided runs in particular. A little disappointed at the slightly less detailed stats with regards to PRs, but I could live with that. However the past two weeks I have become concerned that the distance tracker is really off. I ran my local parkrun circuit which must be exactly 5k because it is parkrun. NRC has logged it both times as only 4.7km. So earlier this week I ran 10 miles with an average 5:36/km and today I ran 5k, pushing it fairly hard, and only made 5:57/km. something is definitely wrong there and I am now wondering whether to record on both Strava and NRC to double check distances, which would be pretty annoying!.Version: 6.10.0

Where has “my plan” function went?I have been using your app since 2014, I only reason I loved and used your app all the time Is because of this function My plan, now I can’t find it anywhere, please bring it back again!!!!.Version: 7.1.1

No more plans :(Too bad, no more plans, I'm switching my running app for another one..Version: 7.6.1

Well... may have to use something elseI’ve been using this app for 2 years now. I got the new update yesterday. This morning, my run outside showed up like it does when you run on a treadmill. It didn’t use the GPS at all. I’ve double checked all my settings, both location services and in the NRC app, to make sure they were fine. If anyone knows how to fix this, I would appreciate it. This is the main thing that may cause me to switch apps. A review that I have been procrastinating on for a while has to do with the coach portion of the app. When I started using the app, to set up a program, you had 3 options. I don’t remember the exact options, but something like build up to race, keep your pace, and crush your pr. I would like to see these options again, because any my coach workouts I set up don’t push my pace as much as I would like them too. The tempo run of slowly increasing your pace with each mile has disappeared and it was one of my favorite workouts. I would also like to see an option where the schedule doesn’t adapt to you. I am just one of those runners who needs a solid schedule that doesn’t change if I have to miss a run. All that being said, I don’t have an Apple Watch to comment on that portion. I have loved this app and will continue to use it if the map portion gets fixed..Version: 5.16.2

Bring back the PlanThis app was amazing and so motivating, until NRC removed the Plan function and replaced it with the new coach option. Having both together would have the app on top but without a plan to follow this app is no more than a tracking app. Frustrating as I brought my Apple Watch to run with NRC..Version: 7.7.1

App won’t open anymoreI love the app and I’m halfway through a program that’s going great but then today I went to run and the app won’t open. Says it’s no longer shared with me and that I have to go buy the app? Pretty disappointing to say the least..Version: 6.8.0

I like it but the Apple Watch feature needs an updateI really love the NRC app the guided run was great for keeping me motivated to get put there and run for the first time in almost 5 years. I I have an Apple Watch series 2 and For about the last 4 weeks now the app on my iphone and on my apple watch have been out of sync. Before the 6.9.1 update it didn't matter if I started a run on my phone or my Apple Watch they would be tracking my run simultaneously and all data would show up in the app on my phone, then it would only track on one or the other and updates on the app after about a day (sometimes) it would be really annoying cause I'm would not really sure if my run was recorded properly until the next day or so. Now my watch is completely un-synced from my phone, I don’t trust the Watch app to start any runs because non of it appears to be sent back to the app on my phone, the only thing it captures is my heart rate and that’s it. What makes it really weird is that my watch is perfectly synced with the NTC app - no Apple Watch issues. Really hope this bug gets fixed in the next update, I really like this app and would hate to have to find something else..Version: 6.11.0

Wildly inaccurate distance measurementsA 5k run is sometimes measured as, like, 2.8km..Version: 6.10.0

Like the idea of coach butThe coach seems good but once you hit go there is no guide so you have to figure it out yourself by looking at you screen, very hard when you are a beginner and can imagine still hard as you get better. Told to do 5x200m sprints so you have to keep looking at your phone to see where you are at. Would be fantastic with audio cues. The rest of the app seems great but this really puts me off..Version: 6.6.0

Data siloI was happy using Apple’s own watch app to record runs. However, I broke my watch and in the meantime trying different apps to record runs on my phone. The Nike Run Club app is very good in terms of doing one thing simply, it has a good interface and the guided runs and training plans are very good. Like having a bunch of coaches in your pocket. But it locks your data in and doesn’t play nicely with other apps, not even Apple’s own Health or Fitness apps. For example, I beat my 5k PB recently, but you wouldn’t know from looking at the Apple Fitness app or Strava. Another example, the NRC app will record a GPS map during the run, but that won’t export to Apple’s apps or other services like Strava. Even third party solutions struggle to get much of your data out. It’s my data and if I can’t get it all and do what I want with it, then I can’t recommend Nike Run Club. I won’t be using it until Nike changes that and if you care about your data, you won’t either. Update: So Nike recently made it so data would port to Strava, which is great and a step in the right direction. But still so little data is recorded in the Apple Fitness app. No GPS map, no elevation, etc just pace and distance. So it’s still a data silo really ☹️.Version: 7.27.0

No longer usableHave used NRC for more than 10 years and it has lost so much functionality that it is no longer usable. I bought an Apple Watch when they were first advertised as a Nike collaboration but there are so many bugs it drives me insane. Completed runs disappear or don’t link to training plans, sound cuts in and out, I’ve even had runs where the voice over has kept going when I’ve paused it so the rest of the run is completely out of sync. I love the guided runs and trainers but there are just too many bugs to make it worth it..Version: 7.32.0

Keeps losing My Coach sessionMy runs show up, but my coach keeps dropping them from my plan (the check marks disappear). Updates to future weeks then think you haven’t done the workouts. Happened many times over the last 6 weeks..Version: 6.9.0

Not worth to train for any run.I don’t know why I keep giving Nike the benefit of the doubt thinking that this app will be improved after every update. It has not improved. My reason is because considering that this is a run TRAINING app, it’s coaching feature is worthless. I started the coach feature and chose the marathon, and my first 2 week experience has been horrible. There’s no way to start a training day through your Apple Watch, always you have to start it with your phone. After that, nothing shows up on your watch, you have to open the app on your watch to start syncing with your phone after starting it on your phone. After I ended a run, it never showed up that the run was even completed, I then have to manually enter it in through the activity page. Why does anybody have to take so many steps to make this feature work when it should only take 2 buttons to start and complete the task. I called it quits when I had to do a 4x400 sprint interval workout. No syncing on the watch so apparently Nike wants you to check your heart rate and progress while your phone sits in your sleeve or pocket. For anyone that wants to train, either experienced or beginner, I’m begging you, stay away from this app. You will have a less frustrating experience by getting tips from someone who doesn’t run..Version: 5.23.0

Switching appsI have used this app for years and have finally reached the final straw. I’m disappointed because I like the guided runs and training plans the app offers but I can no longer overlook it’s other issues. I have an Apple Watch series 3 and it is nearly impossible to sync my runs between my watch and phone. Lately any run that I start from my watch is deleted which is especially annoying with speed runs in which it is much easier to start and stop intervals from my watch. I’ve lost my running streaks because of this inability to sync and any adaptability in my training plans. When runs are started from my phone my watch fails to sync and provide useful stats throughout or after the run. As I said previously, I love that the app offers free training programs for various goals. I used one of these to train for my first half marathon. However, I do have a few gripes. I understand that incorporating Nike Training Club workouts into plans gives both apps use, but it is difficult when you already have a plan on the NTC app. It would be nice to have the option to exclude these workouts from training plans or link your current NTC workouts. It would also be super useful to allow for the training plans to be customizable. Plenty of other apps already offer this feature. Until Nike can properly track and record my runs, I’m done..Version: 6.10.0

Good but Needs ImprovementsI have been using this app since 8 months now on my watch which is the Nike version. It fits almost all my needs. I have been having many problems though. From time to time when I start it, a couple minutes in it says it can not track any distance since some categories in the health app have not been switched on. When I got to look, they are on. Turning them on and off will not work. The only solution I have found is to delete and download it again. The app on the watch is slow to respond and makes me attack the screen with my finger to get it to work after a couple weeks after I've downloaded it again because of the prior bug. When it finally begins, it takes a little for it to actually start. The app takes for over to load when you try to look at it while you're on your run. The app has improved since I've been using it but the designers really need to work on it. The only other thing I wish they would add is a race mode which you could select a distance of your race and would help pace you and record your race. Beginning and ending can be very impractical. Besides that, it has almost all the features I need..Version: 5.8.0

Why did you remove the coaching feature?I’ve been a user since 2012. I’ve weathered many updates and glitches, but I think this is the end. The downloadable PDF coaching feature is quite a few steps backwards..Version: 7.1.1

UnreliableThere has almost always been a problem with this app in the 8years that I have been using it. Either it’s not sync’ing properly, or it’s not recording the runs or the runs aren’t simply there. I have put up with all these issues because I have been using this app since 2012 and with almost 7000 km I did not want to lose my tracked record. However, today on opening I received a message that said Nike run club is no longer giving me access to its app and if I want it, I need to purchase it in the App Store. I was curious to know why it was asking me to “pay” when it had always been a free app... so I went to the App Store and pressed “open” to see what would happen and if it would really try to charge me. The same message came up! It is obviously in a loop... which I now have no patience for. This whole app is a shambles, with continuous glitches and bugs... if you want a running app do your research and just make sure you are getting something reliable..Version: 6.8.0

Needs improvementsUpdate: absolutely hate the new format of the run plans. It used to allow you to use your Apple Watch runs towards your training plans in the app and now it does not give you that option, so even though I have done the runs from my Nike app on my Apple Watch it still looks like I haven’t done any runs towards my plan. I wish it would go back to the old way they had their plans. It was much easier. Still at 2 star rating until it changes. Still the best running app I’ve used but it’s only so-so now. Almost heading the direction of trying something new. Update: since you removed the training plan feature from the app which was my favorite feature I am removing 3 stars and giving it a 2 star review. It was the best feature you had and I utilized it all the time to keep myself in check with my progress and training for runs. When you bring that feature back to the app I will change my review back to 5 stars. I’ve used plenty of run apps before but this one is by far the best one I’ve ever used. I absolutely love this app. I love to run and this app has me very motivated to train and to keep me on track of my exercise. I’ll never use another run app (as long as this one remains free)..Version: 7.15.2

Not accurateI really wanted to love this app but I want an accurate reading of my pace and distance. If it wasn’t so far off I wouldn’t care however I’ve tested 3 apps multiple times (the fit bit app, Nike run and runkeeper all going at the same time. None of them read the same reading however the Nike app was WAY off.) I ran 4 times around a school track and the Nike app said it was .78 km while both the other apps were closer to 1.70km The Nike app also said my average pace was 17’99” while both the other apps said around 7’45”? If all the apps were a little off but close I wouldn’t care but that’s a huge difference. Honestly I love the layout and rewards on this app though, Please update and fix this 😫..Version: 6.10.0

Heart rate feature doesn’t workI have used this app for over 5 years and love it. However, I just bought a pair of Bose SoundSport Pulse earphones to improve my performance by running to a target pulse. The Bose app and Apple supplied ‘Health’ app both register my pulse, however the Nike app won’t. I have contacted Bose and Apple, no issues on their side so seems to be an app issue. Frustrating, please fix this issue. Otherwise a great app :).Version: 5.17.0

Glitchy AFExcellent app - when it works properly. Up until a couple of weeks ago it was fine, then it started crashing on me, giving me unexpected error messages, and forcing me to login again. It got to the point that I had to uninstall and reinstall the app before every run because of the issues, and has now reached the stage where it is now not even letting me log in again. Like I say - excellent app when it works, but completely giving out on you 3 weeks before your first ever half marathon isn’t the time you want issues accessing your training plan.Version: 7.31.1

Steady decline from 5 star app to 1 star appI've been using NRC for over 3 years, and have recorded ~500km with it, and today is the last time I will be using it, and here's why: *Steadily declining use experience.* I'm sure most runners use this app similar to the way I do: Apple Watch app for recording runs, and the iOS app for tracking data. While it has seen zero improvements since I've used it, the iOS app has been fine. However, the Apple Watch app has been bad. - The settings make no sense: "Celebrations", "Cheers", and "Voiceover". I turned celebrations and cheers off, because I don't want the neighbour hood hearing my pep talk. When voiceover is toggled, the frequency option toggles, so you would assume this is the distance read out right? Nope. No idea what it is, but cheers does it. My per/km readouts stopped for a few months, and it ended up being this. - Downloading runs isn't usable. I want to run with my headphones paired to the watch, and to support this, Nike allows you your guided runs. So yoiu set out to do your run but guess what... The _list_ of downloaded runs requires the internet. So I hgave runs saved on my watch, but unless I keep my watch open all the way the run, I can't actually start it. Would have been forgivable if it hadn't been 3+ years with no fix. *Unkept promises.* All the hype in the app and the promised features mean nothing: - Where are the Nike experiences? It's been years and nothing - I've never been to store on the east or west coast that accepts the Nike pass or does anything with it - Anyone else complete the member days challenge? Your reward will be sent each May huh? Maybe my reward is the truth *Inaccurate data.* The above would be forgivable, but for me this is the last straw: - Distance based runs don't work. e.g. If I set a 5km run, at 4.1km it tells my I'm halfway... And that it's 8.2km. I thought I did something wrong, but this has happened multiple times starting about 3 months ago, and now I've just given up on the feature - Distances are tracked wrong! What?! The app has one job... I've just completed my second run where I would have done a sub 5min/km pace, and it tells me I'm at 8min/km. At first I chalked this up to GPS drift, but when I look at the map, on the way back, on exactly the same route, one "kilometer" is almost twice as long as the next. How? I mean the route is right there on the map, you have the distance data clearly. Why isn;t the geting recorded properly? This is messing al my other stats in Apple health too, like VO2max. That one is the last straw. - While I'm at it: Apple Fitness records more detailed that NRC I had so much hope for this app; and I actually went out and supported Nike buying stuff despite the douchey customer service, because I want them to maintain tools like this; it's such a good idea. But it's clearly been neglected, and I realized I've continued using due to lock in and not wanting to lose my data. Waste of potential utility for us runners, and waste of potential customer base for Nike..Version: 7.24.0

A shell of its former self. They removed the one feature that made this app worth it, the My Coach section. It use to build a custom training plan for you, with distance and pacing to help you progress. Now it just another run tracker. Oh and the PDF’s they offer to supplement the switch as basically useless to anyone who just wants to get into running. Well done Nike, great job ruining the app..Version: 7.5.0

Mostly dependableNike products have never let me down. Until yesterday. I have been using this app for two months and have loved the functionality and slick ease of use. However, yesterday I was probably having my greatest run yet, since picking up running again, and the app decided to record the length of time I’d been running for and was tracking my average pace, but it didn’t record my distance travelled. I had to pause it and start again but by that time I’d already ran nearly two miles. The app, however, recorded that I’d ran 0.6 of a mile in that time and recorded my average pace as 33 minutes per mile when that’s how long it would take me to run three miles, not .6 of a mile. Really frustrating; I hadn’t changed any of my settings. I just hope this was a one-off glitch on something that I previously considered superb..Version: 6.7.0

Progressively worse and worse. Time to switch to StravaBeen using this for 12 years. Wear Nike trainers, clothing, and the Nike Apple Watch (2nd one I’ve had.) The level of frustration I have to reach to abandon all this running history, is huge! But, I think I’m there. First, you massively depreciated the web functionality for viewing the run data vi your website. Then you closed off your APIs to awesome services like SmashRun. And now your watch app is losing runs, not syncing, and not installing (assume that’s an app update.) The solution I read online was to remove from the watch and reinstall. Except it won’t. Multiple deletes of the phone app, restarts of watch and phone - everything short of a full reinstallation of my watchOS. Which I’m not prepared to do - I’ll just up on your apps. An app that used to work so well has just depreciated it’s functionality and reliability to the point that I’m prepared to start from scratch with something new. Fail, Nike, massive fail.Version: 6.4.1

Hit or missSometimes the app is great, sometimes it’s like it’s had a bad hangover and suffering memory loss. I never know if it will add my kms or not. I can see them in my activity app and shows I’ve measured them in NRC yet they don’t show in NRC. As I’m using the “coach” it’s very frustrating as it’s not recording my workouts. And like other users in NZ, sometimes it doesn’t tick over to the next week when it should . But when it DOES work- I like it..Version: 7.1.1

Buggy and unreliableI hope Nike and apple read this and look at fixing the issues. I have been consistently using the app for the last two months. While it works well most of time but if you are long distance runner and want to track more than 12 or 14 miles the app is becoming unreliable. Today was worst. I started the run in the watch waited for the count down and stared running. Good 7 or 8 mins into my run I check the watch only to find the watch showing me the time as though I didn’t start. I press the app again only to find the app simply spinning on watch. I pulled out the phone and the Nike app said you have a run in watch. At this point my rhythm is gone I stop trying to figure out what is happening. Finally started the app again on the phone and started running. Now Nike assumes I have a 3k goal. Luckily it didn’t stop after 3k. I lost 0.7 mile of the tracking. Lost my rhythm on run. Ended up running more than my goal(ok that’s fine) but dealing with a buggy app in the middle of the run is super frustrating. Nike, just do it...right. Until then I have to switch to something else. After spending to get a Nike Apple Watch I feel let down in trust and reliability. Hope you read this and sure you have access to my data and fix it..Version: 5.8.0

Guided RunsLove the guided runs but it would be awesome if there was a way you could search, filter or sort them? Trying to pick out the ones that match the online half marathon program, it seems most of them have guided runs to match but it’s very tricky to find them all!.Version: 7.10.0

Rubbish integration and too little information record (of poor quality)The plans and guided runs are fine but you don’t get to progress in the plan unless the run is recorded in the app- no problem at all when you are starting out. The problem is I was not expecting the data recording to be so limited or that gps and pace data is SO sub par to the data you get on your Apple Watch. And if you have the app on your Apple Watch it usurps you running a fitness activity to record a run properly from the fitness action of the watch meaning you miss out on all the data your Apple Watch will give you, like time spent in heart rate zones. Even though it writes to Strava it only collects the basic data so there is no way of retrieving it. The absolutely unforgivable thing about the app is that it will stop your run dead at the point the guided run ends- even when you are still running. I know many people will say they don’t care about this but when they are running further or hitting long strived for PB that the app is cutting time or distance off their hard work then they’ll get why this is so terrible..Version: 7.31.0

Getting worseI used to love this app but recently it’s going downhill. It keeps crashing or when I hit start run it never loads. I just went for a run today and watched it start timing and half way through I wanted to check how far I’d been - it must’ve crashed as when I opened the app it started a new run so very mad. Unless they fix it I will not be using it anymore as it’s too much hassle. I just want to time my runs and it’s making it very difficult..Version: 5.16.2

Please fixLoved this app but since updating it hasn’t been tracking my run distances properly anymore!.Version: 6.9.0

Basic functionality requests. This app and Apple Watch would be perfect if they were just a little more user friendly. I actually want to give this more stars but the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Here are my 2 recommendations 1) Please show cumulative times next to splits in the post run analysis. Garmin does this and it is awesome! 2) Please make an easier way to instantly pause the clock. This could be an Apple issue but if there is anyway to add some functionality to the app so that the buttons on the side of the watch can control the timer users would be very happy. With a touch screen swiping, double tapping, or waiting 2 seconds are just not practical ways to stop a clock when you’re on a serious run. Most runners try not to stop at all but if you are in an urban environment cars and people appear out of nowhere and require a little skilled time management. GPS is also far from perfect so if doing a time trial on a track it is nice to focus on finishing the run at the finish line and knowing your time rather than trying get the touch screen to work properly. If any Nike app developers read this please understand that little convinces like this make a world of difference for runners. It just seems silly that we can still get more accuracy out of a $30 dollar stop watch than a GPS enabled smart watch. Please focus on the basics first..Version: 5.13.1

Technical issuesTechnical issues have spoiled every run that I have attempted using this app. I would not recommend it. If you have an Apple Watch use the built in running app, it is far more reliable! I don’t understand how to use the interval training aspect of the coach as well? It seems you have to stare at your phone while sprinting and as soon as you hit your distance goal eg 200m pause the run and rest. Why not pause for you and tell you to rest? Use a different app if you want to do interval running!.Version: 5.21.2

So many bugsHaving just switched to Apple and buying the Nike Apple Watch I was excited to see how Nike were going to put their mark on helping people run considering it’s their business. This app was a let down and completely demoralising, don’t use it if your really looking to get into running this will make you give up!! Runs don’t sync from the cellular Apple Watch until it’s within range and connected to the phone, and even then it’s hard to get it to sync. I lost a run because an unsync’d run got wiped when my Apple Watch restarted. But had oddly synced to Apple health!! The km awards are actually in miles so you don’t actually earn them until you have done the correct miles, which is more than the badge states. Had to learn this from their support team Sunday 10k run award, actually shows 5k incorrectly NRC app doesn’t award run awards in Apple Activity, having spoken to Apple support they have said its due to a bug in the integration that Nike needs to fix! If you add a run manually and click outdoors. It’s recorded in Apple Activity as an indoor run I have been discussing these issues with the support team for awhile and as yet they have not fixed these bugs.Version: 6.4.1

Great app when it worksI really want to like this app. I’ve used Nike for tracking for over a decade. For the occasional runner it’s amazing. However, I’m now training for races and find it unreliable. I’ve been using their “coach” plan to train for a marathon. Every time the plan wants me to use Nike’s training app as part of the plan it doesn’t sync and makes me update the NRC app. The app says it’s updated so I have to delete from my phone then reinstall. This has happened 4 times. This last time the update deleted my plan ENTIRELY. My run data is still there but the plan is gone and I can’t set up a new plan because my race is only 6 weeks away. I also find the Apple Watch app insufficient as I can’t begin a coach run from my plan in my watch. So if running intervals, I have to hold my phone in my hand and pause it manually when I see I’ve hit the distance, (200 meters etc). It will not appear on my watch. If I try to set a distance from the watch to match my plan and assign later, the plus and minus buttons move the distance at random distance and I can’t set it at exactly 10 miles for example. In summery the coach feature is awesome in theory and incredibly frustrating in practice. For everything else I find it to be a great tool..Version: 5.21.1

Gives up on the long distancesI’ve used NRC for a couple of years now and generally have had a good experience. I like the screen in the watch, I like all the display metrics and the achievements. I’ve had a few issues recently with the app opening (Apple Watch 3) but not letting me press start And I’ve had to use the workout app instead. Disappointingly though I used it in the marathon and by the end it said I had completely 37km and not the 42.2! It was fairly accurate for the first 18-20 then just seemed to get further and further away and take ages to render. It’s a shame not to have an accurate representation of all my runs in the app!.Version: 5.18.1

DisappointedI have been using NRC off and on over the years to record my runs. I recently got back on it and have really been revving up my running discipline. I saw the “Run 7 times in a week” streak achievement and decided to give it a shot, running 2 miles a day from Sunday to Saturday. Well, I just finished my final 2 mile run for the week and it didn’t reward me the achievement. At least I know I did it but I’m quite disappointed the app doesn’t recognize my accomplishment. The app is lacking in several other useful features. For example, it would be nice if I could set it to stop recording the run at the completion of the distance I put in instead of me having to manually remove my phone and queue it up to manually stop it when I’m done running. It would also be nice to specify certain distances or times for a beep or recording to prompt me where I am within my run. I don’t care if I’m “halfway there” sometimes—just tell me when I have half or quarter of a mile left so I can gun it out. There are many more features that could make this app 5-stars in my opinion but without these, it’s just good to record your runs and get coaching, which I don’t really use all that much..Version: 7.5.0

Buggy once again.Rely on this app so much but so frustrated that it doesn’t sync with my Apple NRC watch and have to keep manually adding runs using the data from my watch. Think it’s because it keeps logging me out of NRC on my phone. And even opening the NRC app on my phone is buggy - a minimum of 3 tries before it comes up with not a blank screen, a screen with just the logo, nor a screen where the login button can’t be pushed. Please fix!.Version: 7.30.0

Go woke go brokeAfter 10 years of using your app for my runs, I’m deleting you for good and don’t be buying anything Nike..Version: 7.22.0

Bring back the run plansI loved this app til they upgraded it and removed the run plans. I see lots of others are disappointed as well. Come on Nike, listen to your users. Bring that feature back..Version: 7.6.1

Not syncing with Apple HealthLatest update doesn’t sync workout information from NRC to Apple Health.Version: 7.2.0

Always hanging and crashingI have loved Nike running, and have used nothing but this running app since 2011. But recent updates have made the app almost pointless, the my coach was fantastic but it hangs for so long that now I don't bother to load it. The my history also hangs and then no longer loads any of my previous runs. There has been a few recent updates which I have been excited for in hope that it fixes these bugs but they haven't changed a thing. I'm very sad to be leaving but I am now on the hunt for a new running app..Version: 5.8.0

OK app but notifications are obnoxiousDecent app. Has 3 classifications of notifications: run reminders, friend run reminders, and shoe notifications. I’ve disabled all but the latter, and still receive Inbox notifications unrelated to my shoes. Had to disable notifications at the phone settings level..Version: 7.25.0

Effective but needs workI really like the app and what it has to offer. But it is so glitchy- it lose my runs and it stalls so often. I have a new iPhone 8 and don’t have this problem with any other app. It is really frustrating especially based on the fact that I really like the look of the app and love how it seems really easy to use. I would definitely give 4 stars if those bugs were fixed..Version: 5.14

Was the bestThis app was the best. Ever. I was not a runner but had been using the training club app and decided I'd give it a try. The run club app had the plan feature that did the absolute best job of easing me into it and making me a successful, if slow and not great, runner. Losing that feature makes this app useless to me as I'm not yet a good enough runner to use any of their guided runs, nor do I know how to appropriately increase my distance without the push of the plan. If they bring back the in app plans that adapt to you as you run, I'll come back at give them 5 stars..Version: 7.7.0

Love the conceptIts just the little things that annoy me like when i tried to hit my 50k for the month, did a 8 km run, but then the run did not sync and then vanished. Have lost a few runs like that now. Also had a few where the gps goes haywire. Recently im getting the 5km run badges not transferring to my achievements. I also have issues with the watch transfer, sometimes it takes hours to transfer to the app. If it was more reliable would give it a 5 star, but it is annoying not getting the rewards..Version: 6.7.0

Not for pram runnersI was really excited when I first looked at that app, it seems to have everything I was looking for in a running app, different challenges and runs to keep things interesting. But then I tried to use it, kid in the pram, phone in the pram and off I went but the app kept stopping my activity and only resume it once I picked the phone up again and hold it in my hand. I thought that was very inconvenient. Plus on the running display is no average pace displayed, every other running app I have used, used to have that and this is what I run by. So until I can lay my phone in a pram to run and an average pace is displayed I will revert to previous used apps..Version: 6.6.0

Bring back My CoachI would love to give the app a higher rating but the feature I most often used is gone. If it came back it would instantly go to 5 stars. Please bring back My Coach!!.Version: 7.5.0

Useless without the plansVery sad to see that you removed the previous beginner/5km/10km etc programs. What a dumb idea. No more reason to install that app..Version: 7.5.0

Training plansI’ve been a user since 2013 and will now need to find a new running app that offers training plans based on goals..Version: 7.13.0

It's true it has regressedWas a stable reliable run tracker when I first started using it. The first mistake I made was switching from having all my runs easily accessible on my phone, to syncing them to the Nike website. They are much slower to access. Next were the updates which have virtually crippled the apps reliability. Had issues with loading speeds, runs pausing by themselves and not restarting, and heart rate monitors "choosing" when they want to register or not. It's not the kind of unreliability you want before getting psyched up for a run, and spending 15 minutes getting your app to perform properly.Version: 5.8.0

Great app, but lots of glitchesI would gladly give this app 5 stars, if it weren’t for the numerous glitches and anomalies that it has. Overall I have always been happy with this app. I love the features, the guided runs, the integration with Apple Watch, the coach, etc. However, I feel like I am constantly dealing with synching issues in one way or another. For example, I am using the coach to train for a marathon. I always start the runs directly from the coach screen, and complete them, and mark them for the appropriate workout in the coach schedule. But once in a while after doing that, the next time I open the app it will show that workout as incomplete. There is no good way to fix this - and it most recently happened on a benchmark run that is supposed to be used by the app to set your schedule going forward. I contacted tech support - which is another great thing about Nike - I’ve always been able to get ahold of a person for support. But she pretty much told me this was a glitch and she couldn’t fix it, and had no guarantee if it would get fixed by someone in a different department. I also had an issue with runs not synching from my watch. Had to uninstall and reinstall the app on my phone. This type of thing happens a lot and can be frustrating when using these features. Other than that, great app..Version: 6.12.0

GPS distance us broken starting in v6.2I am a four year user of this app and I use it only on the iPhone (currently iPhone XS on iOS 13.2) not the Apple Watch. Starting with the update to version 6.2, the app has been recording dramatically longer distances than reality. I run the same routes frequently, and I have been recording runs with NRC, Strava, Endomondo, and RunGo over the years, and I know exactly how long each neighborhood route I run is. NRC is now recording tracks that are approximately 15% to 20% too long. An 8.5 km route this morning got recorded as 10.1 km by NRC. This weekend, I ran 21.1 km (not in a race) and NRC recorded 24.3 km. This completely destroys my pace calculations and I’m sure is not helping my NRC marathon training plan to adjust properly. My other trackers do not have this problem. When I look at the NRC GPS tracks, they are crazy jagged, looking like I am crossing the street back and forth every few meters, running into the middle of a house and back out to the street, etc. On all my other trackers, I can tell the side of the street I was on, and the tracks are nice and smooth. If I run down the sidewalk, the GPS track looks like I’m running down the sidewalk. With NRC it’s like every GPS datapoint can be randomly 5 to 10 meters off from my real location and it makes me look like I was staggering drunk. This all began with the upgrade to 6.2. Please fix ASAP..Version: 6.2.0

App crashingBeen using Nike Plus Run for 4-5 years. In the past it has been a reliable app. Others will have more functionality to them or cooler graphics and stats, but where Nike always excelled was in its reliability. Always opened, always worked, never failed. Until recently that is. When running iOS 13 and having the latest version of the app the time it takes from when you hit stop at the end of a run until the run loaded up got longer. Like almost 10 seconds long. Long enough to wonder if it was going to capture the run. But it would capture it. But not today. I’m training for a half marathon in three weeks and today I pushed myself to run 13.1 miles to make sure I could do it. I felt fast, I felt healthy and I couldn’t wait for the end to see what my splits were and to share the results with my wife and some friends. I hit the “stop” run button and waited. And waited and waited and waited. Finally after 15 seconds or so I looked down and the app had crashed. When I opened it up again none of my current run data was there. Like the run had existed only in head. Extremely frustrating. Reliability was always something Nike had going for it and today even that failed.Version: 6.0.0

Bug?I have the Nike Training App and when I open the Nike Run Club App from the Nike training app it always displays that it needs to be updated. Can you guys fix this..Version: 5.20

Only One Major ComplaintI love Nike Run Club! It gives really cool insights of my pace throughout the run! The ONLY thing I really dislike about it is that it doesn’t tell you the distance you’ve gone while your running. You have to pause it in order to figure that out. When I go on runs I want to go a specific distance, but when I can’t see how far I’ve gone while I’m running. I find it really frustrating. I’ve stopped using the app only because it doesn’t tell me how far I run while I’m running. Especially when I’m going on specific runs, such as 2 mile tempo runs, mile, and longer runs like 5-6 miles. I need to know how far I’m going without having to stop my watch. If there is anyway to have more customizable options or if you could just put the distance instead of heart rate or calories that would be really helpful. It’s nice to know that information too, but info like calories and heart rate really are not vital when I’m going on a run. Please consider changing this, because I love all the insights NRC offers, but I can’t use the app if it won’t show me how far I’m running without pausing it. I would give five stars for the app function itself, I just need the distance to show while I’m running. Thank you so much! I hope you can consider this!.Version: 7.1.0

Update has messed this up!Since the update, I can not use this app. I get the message to ‘Enable activity data sharing’ and it gives me the choice to go to settings. There is no option there to enable it. I have gone to motion and fitness and toggled that’s switch on but it shows that only the ‘health’ app is trying to activate it. Now what?? Grrr..Version: 6.9.0

So frustrating to not have my runs reflected in my move goalI have an Apple Watch series 3 that I wear religiously and I’ve been using the NRC app for almost two years. A few months ago I noticed that sometimes after my run, the calories logged in NRC weren’t accurately reflected in my move goal even though the run as a workout was available. It’s like when I finished my run, it wouldn’t sync to my activity app completely and I’ve been trying to investigate it ever since it first started. I can see my move goal increment during my run but sometimes after I finish my run, the completed run won’t be communicated to my watch and the last portion of my run ends up not being recorded into my move calories for the day. I’ve looked extensively in data sources and for the runs that have issues, it says no data available so it’s definitely an issue on the app side and not my watch/activity app. It’s incredibly frustrating to not be able to accurately count my movement for the day especially since I’m very data centric when it comes to my fitness and nutrition. I love NRC and I have over 1500 miles recorded in it, but if NRC doesn’t come up with an update to fix this, I’m leaving the app for good..Version: 7.5.0

Where are the plans? The running plans, the Most useful feature, have been removed..Version: 7.6.0

Used to be goodThis app used to be good. But recently it had gone downhill. Today I ran a 10km. The app announced “congratulations you have reached your goal of 10km”. Once I stopped the run it changed the distance to 9.98km. And despite me running a PB 5km AND 10km time neither of them updated in my achievements Recently also, the app no longer automatically allocates runs to my coach. Even if you start the run from the my coach screen. You have to manually configure each run The adapting of plans is very poor. It just seems to add more rest days. And will randomly update plans when I go into the app The pace the plans set for each run are ridiculously slow. They are always around 30-90 seconds off my actual pace per/km. That can add up to 20 minutes in a single run (the 10km I ran today set my pace at over 1 hour. Despite me never running a 10km in that time in my life, and it being around 15 minutes slower than my PB) Also when I start a new plan I should not need to fill out the same information time and time again. Isn’t that the point of using this app? That it can see my past runs? This app has become very very poor. And now just seems to be used by Nike to advertise their other products and apps. Might switch to garmins run app, as I’ve heard much better reviews Would not bother with this app until they fix their issues..Version: 6.0.0

Needs better options for treadmill runnersI’m a running beginner and also tend to get home from work around the time the sun starts setting. As a young woman I don’t feel comfortable running in the dark so needless to say i do most of my running on a treadmill. The app still attempts to record the ‘distance’ I’ve run through my phone gps even though I have the settings turned to indoor treadmill runs only. This interferes with my pace as the app thinks I’ve run 0.01km in 17 minutes. When I then alter the run and put in the distance displayed by the treadmill the app says that edited runs cannot count towards challenges and so, whilst using the coaching tool, none of the training days will allow me to mark them as completed even though I have done the run. Therefore the coaching plan never moves forward or personalises to my level which makes the whole thing a bit fruitless. Very discouraging..Version: 6.5

Why did the update just make the app more glitchy?None of my runs ever assign where they’re supposed to, which leads to weeks where it looks like I just didn’t run at all and then a backlog of miles when I give up and just assign them to the week I’m in as “other” runs. With the new setup, I can no longer see the distance of my past benchmark 3min efforts, entirely defeating the purpose of the benchmark as a method to compare against past performance. I live in fear of “adapting my plan” because the app never logs my runs consistently enough for the plan I’m on to actually “adapt” harder — inevitably I’m left with shorter runs and even slower paces when I finally give in and “adapt.” The integration with Nike Training Club also doesn’t work — when I do the workout I’m supposed to for the week, I’m met with a blank circle instead of a check and then inevitably I can’t check off the week. I’m really frustrated because this app is so close to being helpful but ultimately just disappoints me. I feel like these glitches are things tons of people have flagged and they choose to update the app interface instead of addressing actual concerns. From all the runners on your plans, please please fix the assigning feature so that we can actually finish our training plans on the app like we do in our real lives..Version: 7.0

5 star app until the recent updates and changesSince the app has updated to version 7.0.0 I have had so many issues with my runs not syncing to my plan. You used to be able to amend your run to attach to your plan within the week but now you can’t and it will only allow you to link to plan when you first rate your run. That’s fine a habit to get used to however, even when you do this it still doesn’t link up and shows you not completing a run! Most irritating when it is a benchmark or speed run with laps. Clear issue with app when you have to start those runs through the plan. I have noticed the app records me running shorter distances than it used to, I didn’t pay too much attention to this and ran further to hit my goal but I’ve noticed many others are having the same issue. I use another running app at the same time to start at the same second and I’ve noticed about 0.4km difference between the runs over a 5km run Please fix these changes, I loved the app before and it has helped me massively to achieve my goals. I just want my plan to accurately reflect my runs and activity, and I would like the distance to be accurate..Version: 7.0

Can’t use My Coach on Apple Watch without lugging phone around on runsI am very disappointed with my first experiences with Nike+. I just purchased an Apple Watch for the sole purpose of tracking my runs through the MapMyRun app training plans. The Apple Watch didn’t support using the training plans with the watch alone so I decided to give Nike+ a try assuming it would work seamlessly on the Apple Watch given that Nike is even part of the name of the Watch. I’ve been very disappointed. First, moving from MapMyRun to Nike+ means loosing over 1300 miles of runs tracked on MapMyRun. This is super disappointing to have to start brand new with a new app and not be able to transfer past workouts over. Second, I love MapMyRun’s training plan but I was willing to give Nike+ My Coach a try. The feature seems great BUT I cannot use My Coach without bringing my big bulky phone along on runs with me. This is a huge development oversight on the part of Nike. The entire reason I forked out $477 for a Watch was to be able to leave my phone at home. If you are a serious runner you are using My Coach and running at speed a and distances that are not conducive to lugging around a bulky phone with you. For this reason alone I drop my rating of Nike+ from 5 to 3 stars. I’d love to love the app if you corrected these issues..Version: 5.16.2

Almost a great appThere are two things that keep this from being the perfect app for me. 1. The inability to use a run in my history towards my training plan. For instance, I did a long run today that for some reason didn’t sync to my training plan, so according to the plan, I didn’t do the run despite it being in my history. If I add the run manually to the plan it will show up in my history twice and my monthly milage will be inaccurate, plus the frustration of knowing I ran but seeing this week as an incomplete in the training plan. There should be in option to add an existing run to the plan for that corresponding day. 2. This isn’t as big of a deal, but the social media aspect of this app is far from perfect. With Run keeper your friends are automatically able to see your runs with all of the attached data-splits, milage, pace etc. Nike went for more of a social media approach where you can take a pic and make a post with your milage, pace, and avg time but anything else would have to be added in the caption. Not a huge deal but I vastly prefer Run Keeper where my friends can see all the details of my run automatically and there are no adds blocking up the feed.Version: 6.0.0

We must be using different appsOn my iphone the screen gets stuck any time i select a friend or someone on the leader board in a challenge. i have to force close the app because there is no way to back out. I cant see anyone else’s runs and there is no option to communicate via text with anyone. I cant play pandora music while i run and quite frankly this priduct has far less capabilities than apple plus runs or map my run. I’m certain i’m missing something from a highly rated app. I got this for a work challenge but i’m not going to keep it if this is all there is. i joined a new runner program but i dont get credit for any runs outside the program but still withon the app and if i were to do a guided run and want to run longer for my challenge group there is no mechanism to turn on other music and so i’m running quietly. Also the interaction with my javra headphones is such that i can answer calls but i cant hear anyone and they cant hear me so they hang up. This is not good if you take call for work. Overall disappointed. the running plans are a nice idea that I like and would like to have as the coaching is good but i’m not getting any feedback during like i would with apple fitness plus..Version: 7.20.0

DisappointedI’m disappointed that the latest release, 5.19.1, doesn’t support the new complication styles that have been added to watchOS 5. I purchased a series 4 Nike+ watch and was surprised to find that the Nike complications were not available for Apple’s new, and heavily promoted, Infograph watch faces. Hopefully the developers at Nike will take advantage of the new features of watchOS 5 and update their complication in a future release..Version: 5.19.1

Loosing info and drains batteryI have used this app for a lot of my running and over the last month I have lost all data of runs because of the app draining the battery in my watch and jamming up not allowing me to stop the app and save the data from the run. This has been very frustrating when I am relying on the app to track my training and progression for up coming events. I feel like this is a glitch in the app from a recent update or something but I wanted to share my experience so others can avoid my frustration during workouts. Hopefully this improves but I will be trying other apps now because of my loss of confidence in the Nike run app..Version: 7.7.1

Not suitable for new runnersThe app is fancy alright. But for someone like me who is totally new to outdoor running and who suffers from shin splints, I am more comfortable with another app called “running”. The main difference is that your app doesn’t build the “run habit”. For instance, in the another app, at the beginning, I run for 1 minute then rest for two then run for another minute. Next run, I run for 2 minutes and rest for two. Next run, I run for 3 minutes and rest for 1. This is just an example. But in two months, I am now capable of covering 8k comfortably. Running for 10 minutes and rest for a minute. When comparing this outcome to my first run performance, I am very happy with it. I wanted to use yours the same way. Build my running habit, strength and endurance one by one. But unfortunately it os very rigid. I have to actually run for the whole duration or distance. Maybe you have this feature but ai didn’t manage to find it. But that would be a massive design drawback. Your app keeps me company but doesn’t couch me. That is the reason why I uninstalled it. Yet, I would br happy to reinstall it once I build my endurance to run 5k without any rest. Specially that I am using your NTC app already. I hope this is helpful..Version: 6.9.0

Update has ruined everythingHaving recently updated my iPhone, Apple Watch and the Nike app (Jan 2018) I’ve found that nothing works. More than 60% of my runs are not tracked on a map with GPS, instead just giving me an irritating circle, calories are all over the place and it never tracks elevation. Before this update I stepped out the house and tapped the Nike+ symbol on my watch and pressed start, immediately it started and tracked everything well. Now I tap on the symbol, it thinks, thinks some more and then eventually I can click start, but then it apparently doesn’t know where I am yet manages to track miles!! Checking my phone before I start all map apps, the Nike+ app and even flight tracker know exactly where I am seconds after stepping out my house, yet the watch doesn’t and even tho it starts it doesn’t track the route of my run! Also, why do I have to uncheck autopause for every single run? I hate autopause and you’d think I could just switch it off and be done with it as on the phone but no, it resets after every single run! Unbelievably poor and annoying they can’t get all these issues sorted and back to the way they were before the update. I’ve been using Nike+ for years and don’t want to change but I may look into it now..Version: 5.13.0

Great but disappointingI love Nike’s coaching program which helps me train for my half marathon. But there are two things I’m not happy about. One is a glitch and the other was a flaw in how they decided to count the interval sprints. First the glitch is that the runs don’t actually apply to the run on that day even though you hit start from the coach section on that day. Instead the next week when it asks you if you want to adapt your plan in accordance with your level, it asks you to apply the runs to a day but they don’t belong on that week, they belong on the week prior but you no longer have access to that week to properly do so. The design flaw: used to when you had HIIT days where you ran 7 200 meter sprints with 2:45 minute breaks (for example), you hit “pause” after you completed the interval and it started counting your break time so you knew exactly when you needed to start again. It no longer does that. Instead you have to hit “lap” to count the interval and stop the distance tracking for that one interval and then hit pause so it won’t start tracking the next interval. It doesn’t count during your break and the phones time doesn’t always show at the top so you can’t keep track of that very well. Very poorly thought out. Please go back!.Version: 6.0.0

Please fix this appThis could be a really good app, I like the tracking, getting data, assigning a pair of shoes to your run, it’s really cool. The training/plans and guided runs are great. Helped me run my first half marathon. I’ve recently started using the app again after a 1 year hiatus and for some reason the music integration has become bugged, it will often lower the music volume to give you your distance callout or trainer monologue but the music won’t return to normal volume, it’s enough to really throw me off the rhythm, and for someone like me that’s looking for any excuse to stop running it’s really annoying..Version: 7.32.0

Good - but so buggyI have used this for years now, and I love the guided runs. They’re brilliant. However the app is very buggy, it signs out of my connected music provider every single time I open it, and never actually saves any of my saved runs or downloaded runs. This section is always empty and I keep trying to save them! When using a guided run alongside music, the guide would fade out and let you listen to music for a while to get you in the zone. For a long time now the music plays very quietly even though the guide voice was fine. When not using a guided run, the music is fine. It completely throws you off! I have the latest hardware and always update the latest software & version to see if there are any improvements, and none. Not in years. It has even wiped months of progress several times before which customer service couldn’t locate. Please please please fix all of these bugs!.Version: 7.32.0

Most Recent Update is the WORSTDisappointed that the running plans are no longer available on the app. I don’t want to read a PDF @nike. I liked the ability of having a customized plan designed for me based on my current goal. No longer available so this app is basically useless to me..Version: 7.2.1

Compromising my dignityI was in a 30km challenge w my arch nemesis who lives in a diff Timezone from me (3 hours behind) and I walked for over 3 hours clocking 18kms in total in order to beat her, only for her to finish half an hour after me and place ahead of me due to what I can only imagine is the ineptitude of the Nike app to recognise the differences in time. This is unacceptable to my pride, my reputation and to my general mental well-being & if I didn’t have blisters & a semi twisted ankle I would take more of stand on this issue..Version: 7.6.0

DisappointedLoved this app for training until they got rid of the My Coach training plans feature. So SO disappointed..Version: 7.2.1

Great potential, but held back by bugs and poor audio guidesI’ve been using this app before it was called Nike Run Club. I love it and it’s part of my daily routine. That being said there are some serious problems with the app that have sprung up. The Facebook cheers feature which many people have actively reported as not working still hasn’t been fixed after years of not working. But that’s not my major problem with the app. The guided runs usually involve this guy called “Nike Global Head Coach Bennet.” I don’t think Nike could have picked a worse person for this job. His voice sounds like a high schooler trying his best to sound like a cool adult, and he is constantly speaking in this strange cadence and trying to deepen his voice to sound more inspirational. He says the most scripted, cheesy, lame uninspiring things completely taking me out of the zone. All this “you’re awesome, you’re already so great, and you’re getting better with every step you take” gets old really fast and is no way to motivate you to get better. If I’m already awesome why am I running? Please Nike, get us a mature, intelligent and charismatic guide to get us through our runs. Something actually inspiring and epic, not this drab, monotone mess. (Sorry Bennet.) You know who was awesome? Eliud. That voice and run was amazing, UNTIL coach Bennet had to come in and say something pointless. Ugh I’m done..Version: 7.15.2

It’s getting betterI love running, I believe in what Nike stood for, from its humble beginnings until now. A run is about being just a little bit better then you were the day before, it’s about freedom. About leaving stress, or the things that “bog” you down behind. At least for that little bit of time you’re running. I feel like those statements also hold true for this app. The app is better then it was, and I believe it will continue to be better. In the future however I want to see the interface be more intuitive, less “bogged” down. I want the freedom of what a run feels like to translate into this app. I love the coach runs, I love the podcasts with coach Bennet. I love the challenges. Running is about the individual and as soon as I log Into this app the center of it all should be about me/ the individual. Then secondly: intuitively be more apart of my friends running. One example is, I would like to see their run color, and be more interactive with them (I do like the “cheering on”) and their trophy’s. Also I definitely want to see the run club be more local. Or be able to set up a run club meet locally through the app. I have a love hate relationship with this app, I have a billion ideas for this thing, but totally have faith that they will get it right. That it will be better tomorrow then it is today..Version: 5.13.1

Good app. Stopped recording runs under my coachI’ve been using the Nike run club app for almost 1 year. It’s a great app and the accuracy for distance and pace etc seems to be on point. The only downside is that under the specialised my coach plan the app will only record some of my weekly runs and there’s no option to edit the section to record the details of the run you did. It’s frustrating not being able to log all the details in the plan to keep it up to date to continue my progress. ‪Logging runs to the my coach plan still doesn’t work. I go through the steps to assign my run but the app doesn’t mark the run as completed in my coach. I’m lucky if it assigns one run a week. It would be nice if this issue was fixed, so I can use the my coach feature properly‬.Version: 7.1.1

I can’t give it zero stars so one will have to doEach time I want to run, I have to do the following. Log out of NRC, turn off phone, turn off watch. Turn on phone, turn on watch then log into NRC. Go outside at least 100m from the house. Start NRC on phone, start NRC on the watch. Wait 20 seconds then start the run on my phone NOT on the watch. Then start running.. that came from Nike support. Then forget about using an external HRM with the app, it will never get any data even with the HRM connected, data going to apple health....Version: 5.22.0

NOT TRACKING PACE/Distance correctlyNot sure what’s goin on but since update, distance and pace 2-3x slower. If I uninstall and reinstall, works ok for 1 run then asks access to fitness/motion sensor and then slows pace/motion; almost like its using 2 sensors and adding together. Pls fix, was working great for years now gone to crap..Version: 6.11.0

So disappointed :-(After so many years of using this app. I now have to move on to other app. I can’t believe they removed the coach plan! I loved the idea of creating a plan and follow it. So motivating...that’s the last thing they should have removed. So disappointed!.Version: 7.4.1

🤷‍♀️This app- as a concept alone- is super cool. I am personally motivated by badges and I love some of the guided runs a lot. I was super excited to do the personalized coach, so I gave it a try for 3 weeks to see how it would go. During that time, I was frustrated by some pretty minor bugs (notifications not disappearing once I had opened them, music stopping and not being able to start back up because the pause button was frozen- little things like that) but even though there were quite a few of them, I decided that it wasn’t worth stopping for that and tried to be patient with those bugs. However, the weekly schedule (personally) was not customizable for me. If I couldn’t run on the last day of the scheduled week, that scheduled run didn’t transfer over to the next week- the schedule continued as though I had run it. Then I got sick for a week and the schedule just continued to move on as though I had been running the whole time. Things like that don’t motivate me to keep using the app because I feel like by it being *personalized* it should also be a little more customizable to make room for things in life that you don’t really expect to happen..Version: 5.17.0

Lost my run. Closed APIs.A friend of mine is on NRC. After years using Strava I decided to have a go on NRC and be able to challenge him. Got my brand Apple Watch (WatchOS 5) and no phone for a run, like I to with Strava. All good, liked the way the app works, but my happiness ended there. Even though this is an LTE-Enabled Apple Watch, the run never synced on my walk home. Got the phone companion app, waited for a while and nothing... The next day it could still see the run on the Watch but not on the phone. Went for another run, this time with the phone. For my surprise when I finished my run I lost the yesterday’s run of the Watch!!! To make matters worst, Strava allows you to download/upload your data, this way I can backup and even “migrate” my runs to other platforms! NRC is closed! You can’t log runs on other platforms and upload to their and vice-versa! Completely disappointed. Will now convince my friend to move to Strava....Version: 5.18.0

Mixed bagI don't use the social features of Nike run so can't review them but the achievements are really good motivators and it nicely shows your PBs. The auto pause feature is too slow and the timing for week based and Sunday achievements are based on American times which is super dumb to do a Monday afternoon run and get told congratulations on your Just Do It Sunday.Version: 5.11.2

BUG: app didn’t recognise my 7 runs in one week 😤Dear Nike, I love this app and have used it for years but I’m really mad at you right now. I have always wanted to achieve the ‘7 runs in a week’ and have never been able to, until a week ago. BUT you app didn’t register it, even though the 7 consecutive runs are clearly there. I would have reached out to you through a help or contact feature... but there isn’t one!.Version: 6.6.0

Poor overallI really like this app, it’s just a shame most of it doesn’t work leaving very few reasons to use it over the Apple fitness app. The interface is nice and clean (unlike Strava) and is easy to navigate. Unfortunately guided runs do not work on Apple Watch (even when downloaded) unless the phone is with you as well, which kind of negates the point of having the watch. You also can’t see what you have downloaded on the watch as there is no separate list meaning a lot of scrolling to find the run you want. Secondly, challenges are broken. I can’t join any through the app - coming up with a ‘connection error’. I have signed in/out, uninstalled/reinstalled to no effect. I’ve googled to try and resolve it and this error seems to have been around for ages now. Overall whilst I do like this app, it’ll probably be deleted in favour of the standard Apple app, which is a shame..Version: 7.28.1
