Maps 3D PRO - Hike & Bike for Positive User Reviews

Excellent applicationAfter using many other similar applications, I finally ran across this one. Have used it on all of my hikes since then. Now, my Garmin is collecting dust. What else can I say? One happy hiker.Version: 4.1.4

BrilliantThis is THE best app ever, invaluable if you need to know where you are and need to know where you are going. Never get lost ever again with Map3D, you can set waypoints to ensure you don't miss that vital turn..Version: 3.1.1

Led us to a better pathBought this a few years ago when I was doing walks. I just wanted to have a journal of my activity. Back then I didn’t expect this app to continue to update. A combination of factors including Covid made us stop all activities shortly after, meaning I didn’t launch this app for ages. Recently, I started cycling again. I was surprised to see Park-Connector-Network (PCN) included in the map. Yesterday, the app actually led us to a better path (PCN) not shown on Google map. By better, I mean away from crowd (regular pavement) as it is difficult to cycle along narrow pavement with many people walking around. I am really impressed with the data that is made available. The app has way more features than I am using. Again, something within expectation since Singapore terrain isn’t as complex. I should try this app overseas. Have to wait for Covid to become a non-issue first before any leisure travel is possible..Version: 6.3

Excellent app for backcountry exploration! 🇨🇦If you intend on using this in western Canada, particularly in Banff/Jasper/Kananaskis, then this will enhance the experience exponentially. Download maps prior to your trip and then search, plot, track and enjoy!.Version: 4.1.4

MrExcellent app, love it! It's got everything you need to find your way around in the bush..Version: 3.1.1

Great little app ...I've used this app in conjunction with my iPhone to record and share (you can email tracks as well) various hikes as well as uploading other's walks to be able to follow. Free download of TOPO maps as well. Amazing value and very effective. Thank you..Version: 4.1.2

Great visualizationsThis is a great GPS app. It includes maps both 2D and 3D with partial topographic information. Tracks your trip giving you speed, time, distance, altitude, both ascending and descending. Can export to google maps or other. My only gripe with it is, it's exceedingly power hungry. I know keeping a constant GPS lock is power expensive, but the screen stays on all the time, maybe in an update they could include a way of letting it run with the screen off..Version: 3.2

GREAT APPThis is a great app, love the way it records tracks and the detail of different maps. Great for logging single tracks, just a shame you can’t pull all of your recorded tracks up at one time on a map. Makes it hard to try and join tracks together..Version: 6.2

Great appBrilliant app and really great fast support, thought there was an issue but it was how I'd attached my iPhone, the off button kept being pushed :). But re support was fast and helpful, luckily I figured out it was user stupidity. The app has really opened up the countryside around where I live and now I can do a 60:40 on/off road commute every day. Awesome..Version: 3.1.1

Good value at 69pDownloaded the app and couldn't be more impressed with the features. Once you have an everytrail account it really comes into it's own. My only request is that the route planning feature was a bit more accurate around town , but works great on public footpaths etc.Version: 3.1

Solid UI, great map dataThe map data and UI are both great, makes the app a joy to use. The only downside is there are some iOS features that they have called behind on, like background support, and layout for an iPad screen..Version: 5.3

One improvement and will be 5*It really is the best there is out there. I've tried a lot of running/cycling apps and overall M3D wins. I travel around the world and run wherever I land so I had an opp. to check it out in a lot of places. It does need one major improvement though: the ability to connect to my HR meter so I can analyse my hr zones etc. Very important for many. I hope you'll get there soon!.Version: 3.1.1

Not impressed by quality of the mapsThe design of the app and its interface is quite good but the maps are absolutely no match to the Ordinance Survey maps. Map colour is pale, tracks are barely visible and most of the place names are too small and to make the matter worse the more you zoom in, smaller they get! And for 3D view, I haven’t tried the app on mountains but on hills the 3D view of the app is just a useless gimmick.Version: 5.4

Great tool!I use this all the time for hiking and exploring. There is a little learning curve as you figure out how to download maps, plan routes, etc but once you figure it out it is super useful. It even works well when I put my phone in airplane mode to conserve battery..Version: 5.0

Exactly what I was looking forAwesome app for planning cycling trips. It's nice to be able to plan trips taking into account the actual distances following bike trails, and the level of difficulty resulting from hills..Version: 3.1.1

Best off road GPS so farI've been looking for gps device for trail riding to help me explore new areas on my enduro bike. This app is the best one I have found to date, but could use a couple of more features. 1) a way to plan your route in advance. On a dirt bike it's not so easy to stop, then find the next path. I'd like to be able to open and see my way points, without panning out in the map. 2) use the way points in order. So it works as a build it yourself off road sat nav that I can share my routes with my friends online, take pictures of obstacles, grade ride outs. Easy to hard, so the dirt bikers out there can find somewhere new to green lane and know what to expect..Version: 2.5

Great help on hikesSaved me from getting lost a few times already. I almost never write reviews but I made exception for this excellent app. Far cheaper and better than many alternative apps. Only complaint, as many other has noted, is how the app always takes you back to your current location when you click to download so you have to scroll all the way to find the area you were looking at. This is tricky sometimes because you might have been looking at the location of a particular landmark not easy to find on the map in the first place..Version: 4.1.4

SuperbReally good app. Intuitive and very good features. Route planning and tracking is excellent. Only complaint is that pinch to zoom is a bit buggy. Overall excellent though..Version: 4.0.1

Great AppVisually one of the best offline map options. The developer is excellent with fast responses to questions and was a true pleasure to deal with over a feature request I had..Version: 3.2

Excellent app!Just perfection!.Version: 5.1

Good!Could do with up dating. Some of the paths its shows don't exist anymore and some of the paths that exist don't always show on the map. In general its very useful..Version: 4.1.4

Superb app!!!I have been testing many trekking apps before but this is a best of all of them. Offline 3d topo maps, low power consumption and my iPhone (in protective case) made me to leave my trusted Garmin at home. Dear developer please release this app as universal one. And I beg you for an Andriod version as I become addicted to your app..Version: 3.0

Great mapping appNot for the simple tasks but if you need to use a top quality map this app is for you..Version: 6.3

BrilliantExcellant app , for hiking in the scottish mountains i found it to be an excllant app i had a garmin etrex handheld 100 and have binned it ,this works seemlessly with the iphone i am very impressed i hope the developer keeps it updated it does all the things you need and is simple to use. It really does do what it says , ive trialed it on 1st of Jan2012, it gave me all the information and more its not just for Ski slopes it does more or less what a handheld GPS would do and a decent one will cost you around £300 and you still have to buy the maps. Also download OS map convertor as this gives you your grid ref alongside your long lat position which is excellant for a double check against your OS map i found it to be accurate to within 10 metres. These are great aids but still take your map and compass in case your battery runs out or you lose a signal. Basically set your target, set record, mark way points enroute or before you depart, review it all on return and save it if you want, bye the way down load the map area your going to and play about with it all before you go so you get used to the features etc. Good luck.Version: 2.5

Awesome GPS appThis is the best GPS app. No subscription plan; it's buy once and done. Maps can be cached for when you're off the network. Accuracy is great and tracked routes can be imported in Google earth..Version: 4.1.4

Works very wellHeading up into the Austrian Alps, I just set this recording and walk wherever I want. When it is time to head back just a quick glance at the screen shows me the quickest path-or the most picturesque! Comprehensive stats are listed at any point of your journey and the whole track can be forwarded by email, viewed on Google Earth, or shared on Facebook. It's very cool..Version: 3.4.1

Very good navigation appI would like to begin my review by apologizing to the developer and any potential user who saw my previous review. I was having trouble with some features in the app and wrote the review out of frustration. I was able to fix it by turning on the Compass Calibration in the Privacy Settings of my iPhone 6s. I use this app every single day at work so I rely a lot on it. I’ve found myself sometimes deep in the forest and thanks to the app I’ve been able not only to find my way back, but the safest way. I appreciate the developer for being so kind to me with his or her response. The only thing I need now is to recover all my waypoints..Version: 5.5.1

AwesomeAbsolutely love this app. I mainly use it for back country skiing and works very well. Putting way points works really good. Even let you insert pictures to attach to created waypoints. I contacted them for a question regarding app functionality and got a replied within a day. See you on the slope :0).Version: 4.1.4

Great app! Had no issues at all even at the top of Scarfell pikeThis app successfully helped us navigate around the 5 highest peaks of the Lake District in severe rain fast winds and even worse visibility and the app still never dropped gps or bugged out, and barely uses any battery so thank you making a reliable easy to use and relatively cheap app!!.Version: 5.4

Love this app!! ❤️Probably the best 3D outdoors map app for the price. I always download a map before my hikes and they are a great help for any overgrown trails or wilderness areas with minimal markings. I have used this trail many times to help navigate old abandoned trails. The various types of maps make it easy to choose which one is best for your need. Friends always ask what is that cool app on your phone. Maps3D is a must have for the outdoor enthusiast..Version: 6.6

Great productI downloaded this app to use for backcountry skiing and hiking and it works really well. All you need to do is pre load the maps on the app before you head out and then your phone's GPS will locate it on the map. It's much more user friendly than my friends handheld GPS and if you run your phone on airplane mode it uses the battery conservatively. Definitely would recommend for any body venturing out into the backcountry..Version: 4.1.4

My go-to appI’ve been using this app for 6 years now. It’s perfect for planning routes and tracking progress. I highly recommend..Version: 6.6

FaulksiThis is the best, highly recommended. Bargain!!!!.Version: 2.7

ExcellentBy far the best map program out there. Offline maps, topographic and relief 3D display, even logging. I'm a hiker and mountain biker and I've tried most of the map apps out there. It needs to be offline for when I'm on the mountains with no cell coverage and it should be able to show me what's around me easily. Maps 3D does that better than the alternatives out there. To be honest this in the only one I usually use. And since I've recommended it to at least 4 of my friends they are using it too..Version: 3.1

TerrificUse this in the mountains to supplement physical maps. Very useful for visualizing terrain. Love it..Version: 4.1.4

What a hiking app should beI've tried many different apps to assist me while hiking. This one is reliable and does everything that I need it to do - and more..Version: 4.1.4

Must have for hikingI have tried a few different apps for hiking and have found this one to be the best out there, I love how you can download the area required for offline use and that it allows you to view many types of maps..Version: 4.0.1

Excellent appGreat app, looks cool and easy to use, could do with Ladscape and full IPad interface. Just love it.Version: 2.7

Countryside WalksFantastic for planning walks. Apple Watch integration works well..Version: 6.1

Packed full of features! This app may even make you a cup of tea..!.Version: 3.1.1

CoooolI will bike the pacific higway soon and i m able to have an idea of the road so excited.Version: 3.3

Great new update!Great new update guys! I love using this app when we go snowmobiling in the back country. It's great to be able to rotate around the mountain and check out all the valleys before we head in. Keep up the great work. Best money I ever spent was on this app. 👍.Version: 4.0

Awesome! This app is more useful than my $400 GPS unit. Easy to use, reasonably priced, and works perfectly..Version: 4.1.4

Great app for hikingGreat app. Love the ability to load detailed maps offline for hiking. Works very smoothly when scrolling around. It would be awesome if there is a way to invert the two finger scroll direction for 3D view change so that it matches how it functions in Apple Maps..Version: 3.2.2

Great App!We're new to hiking and have just used this for 3 trails so far but I love it! I love that it's downloaded on my phone so I don't need service to use it. I have found it helpful..Version: 4.1.4

CoolAmazing. Really impressive in both 2d and 3d modes. We wanted an app to record our journeys when mountain biking so we could plan where we were going, see where we had been, how many miles we'd done etc, and this does all you could ask for and more When out in the countryside its hard to get 3G signal... So it's great that you can download large area maps beforehand to use later... So you don't need any signal to use... I used the everytrail app before this for some journeys, and could even load those routes into this app... Although everytrail app is good ...this app is ALOT better... It's great that you can export the gpx files too ... TIP: in settings, move terrain height to 3.0x ... It exaggerates the hills, making it look real cool, and helps you to judge the terrain.Version: 2.5

Greatness!I use Maps 3D for trail running after getting lost a few times. Since getting this app, I haven't been lost. Love it. User friendly. I like the fact that I can see elevation on the maps to plan effort. No signal? Easy, download your map before heading out. Saved me several hundred dollars from buying a Garmin Rhino-this app performs the same basic functions..Version: 4.1.4

FabulousI have used this for many years. I love this app. It would be nice in the app description if you told us what Maps 3D pro does that Maps 3D does not. Please reply..Version: 6.4

3D maps for the 3D world we live in...Discovering that these 3D maps existed was a revelation! See at a glance the terrain and having the ability to revolve your perspective around areas and features on the map is really useful..Version: 6.3

Just got itImage is pretty cool! I didnt not have time to try for trekking but 3d looks awesome!.Version: 2.7.2

Simple...even for a dinosaur brain.I'm a first time user sceptic but worked a treat in the Black Mountains on a mountain bike in weather that you should be watching on the tv news npt riding in. Easy to use, easier to share, recommend to all..Version: 3.0

One of the best apps for outdoor exerciseThis is a great app from a responsive developer. Intuitive and easy to use and provides great information while on your route. For example, slope and remaining ascend and descend stats until the goal. I was unsure about the value of 3D until I tried it. The 3D representation is very helpful for helping you find your way on trails that are not well marked. It provides another bit of information, not just direction but also topology. Makes it easier to see where you should be heading. I made a recommendation for improvement for the app (in regard to possibility of manually overriding part of an auto generated route) and the developer was make to me in a day. It is always good to use an app that the developer clearly cares about. Highly recommend..Version: 5.3

Great for 4x4 driving & helpful when going shooting.Best app I have found so far for when we go shooting on farms that we haven't been to before. Only complaint is the different satellite download options are geared towards the USA. On the flip side, it's still extremely useful in Australia for creating a simple visual route from & back to your initial starting point. As most Australians that shoot on farms, over 5000 acres or more & in the middle of whoop whoop, know how easy it is to get lost at night. I would love to see more support for Australian maps / topography / satellite imagery. Only lost 1 star due to the fact that most satellite options are completely useless unless you live in the USA..Version: 3.3

Keep it up to date for iOS 14This is a great 3 D map program for outdoors. It compliments your generic gps topo, and hard maps and is GREAT for planning trips in mountainous areas where elevation and grade vary greatly. This is very handy for back country cycling, hiking & mountaineering. Used on Pacific Northwest (BC) and Alberta (Banff) outings in Canada - maps are very good and controls intuitive allowing for great viewing perspectives..Version: 6.1

Almost perfectThis app is exactly what I was looking for to plan Hikes and to navigate off-line. Unfortunately I had to buy the pro version right away, because the light version was too useless to evaluate. But I am glad I took a chance because the pro version is stable and works well. On my wish list is satellite maps of Canada, please please please. Also it would be nice to be able to use live maps, so that one could switch between map types more easily to evaluate which maps were useful to download. The pro version has no live maps so you need to download before using. Strangely there is a live mode in the lite version, but not in the pro version..Version: 4.0

Great detail!I’ve had the app for over a year now but haven’t had more than a couple occasions to use it. The available maps are of great detail and the convenience of downloading just the area you want/need is great. I love the fact that I can plan my route, switch to 3D, then fly through the route to see what climbs and descents I have in store. I’m a visual learner, so studying the maps on this app make my trips so much safer and enjoyable..Version: 4.1.4

Love itBought as a skiing track recorder, but now finding it fantastic for planning cycle routes around my part of devon. Highly recommended..Version: 4.0.2

Laggy appThis app seems to lag sometimes and has difficulty loading maps in mountainous areas. I tried loading maps while on forest service roads, where I had cell signal, and the maps would freeze and not load as I zoomed in to look for roads and plan a route. I have purchased the full app, so I’m disappointed so far. I’ll continue to use it and hopefully have more success. This should work fine without cell reception anyway, seeing as how it is based on GPS for location, versus cell reception and data..Version: 5.4

Best trekking app (v2.6)This app is fantastic and I have used it on a 9 hour walk and still had lots of battery life. I love downloading my track to google earth. Great. Looking forward to any upgrades..Version: 2.7

Very interesting App.Nice graphic.Version: 2.7.2

Great appI use this app for cycling and it's great. The ability to plan a route within the app is very well implemented. It's also easy to follow a pre-planned route from a gpx file. Downloading maps for offline use is well implemented (you can have multiple downloaded "rectangle" maps). I tried most of the "big name" running/cycling apps but came back to this one..Version: 4.0.1

Excellent for cycling or walkingReally good planning tool that lets you see the height profile of a route. The map base is very detailed and really good to have cycle routes included. iPad version would be much appreciated..Version: 3.0.1

This is the one! This is my fourth app and finally I've found one that works. It gives you accurate stats with 3D mapping and a very valuable route mapping..Version: 3.4.1

ArtisanTrès apprécié, et facile à utiliser.Version: 3.2

AmazingIt works extremely fast and precise, best gps for trails I have found.Version: 3.1.1

Great interfaceAll there at your finger tips on the map page.Version: 3.4.1

FORMIDABLE !!!!!Je viens de le tester dans le "bois sale" (Ferland Boileau) comme back track et j'ai adoré. Merci beaucoup..Version: 3.1.1

NavigationSuper bien fait.Version: 3.2

Excellent AppI love this app, I work in conservation and having the ability to download maps in remote areas, track our movements and understand the terrain ahead is a huge bonus for me. The only thing I would want to see is a overlay option to be able to have all my old tracks in view, not just one I select..Version: 4.1.4

Very good outdoors appI purchased the Pro version of this app and I am very pleased with its features and functionality so far. There are a goodly number of map types available for use and the levels of detail required for various activities are quite adequate. The app imports and manages GPX tracks very well. I’ve used GPS and maps for almost 40 years now and I would recommend this app to anyone who wants a reasonably priced app for the outdoors..Version: 6.0.1

Pretty goodLike this. Been looking for a while for something which shows landscapes and topography. Yet to try properly in anger so will reserve full judgment until then but at the moment quite impressed..Version: 2.7.2

Amazing, Used for Quilotoa LoopThis app is amazing. I used it to hike the Quilotoa Loop in Ecuador which is notorious for getting people lost. It showed the trails perfectly and was especially useful because the hike has so many shifts in elevations. Being able to see and rotate the 3D map was invaluable. It was also great to be able to track our hike and save it. Don’t forget to download the area map BEFORE you leave home and mark your known waypoints. Other people on the trail had MapsMe which was not nearly as useful..Version: 5.0

Highly usefulThis is a great app to review the terrain before leaving. Offline also useful for twitching bush bashs, for easier travel....Version: 4.1.4

Map 3D proSuper application ....Version: 4.0.2

3D brings the Map to LiveI have been a topographic map user for over 20 years. This 3D/2D App is superb! I immediately upgraded to the Maps Plus Package, since I liked what the basic package provided. I was able to find hiking and kayaking places that I visited for many years in 3 different countries: they are perfectly depicted in luxury of details. The support staff promptly responds to any question or recommendation. Maps 3D will not disappoint the outdoor enthusiast, it is highly recommended.Version: 5.1

Great App but not intuitiveI’ve upgraded to all the options and having difficulty finding options on the menu. But it’s a great app and has made my off track hiking in Scotland so easy!!.Version: 6.3

Fantastic, apple qualityThis app is incredible. It's what I've been looking for since the first iPhone came out. Finally someone has executed the backcountry gps app to near perfection. Unlike other apps that have come before, this doesn't feel janky and half baked. Even if it didn't have 3D mode it would still be way better than others. The features are well thought out, the UX is great and the product is polished and high quality. The 3D mode is the icing on the cake and makes navigation even that much easier than using maps with just contour lines. Offline map support works great and you can even choose between different map sources, e.g usgs or open street view. The app is built with energy conservation in mind and doesn't use much power even whilst tracking your route. It includes great stats too such as an elevation graph, speed, vert covered, etc. As an example of how well thought out the app is, you can choose between displaying altitude based on the terrain map that's more accurate or altitude from the gps that's less accurate but useful if you're flying. I can't stop raving about how much I love this app. As a climber, backcountry skier and paraglider pilot this just became one of the best pieces of 'gear' I own, for $5 bucks it's an absolute bargain..Version: 4.1.4

My favorite of all timeI hunt, I fish, I hike and this is the most valuable app I have. I use it daily, notated what my outdoor adventure. The only thing I would change is the speed with which a map can be downloaded. I need to get them faster and more reliably so that I can prepare for a trip. I'm not going on a trip without it!.Version: 2.7.2

GpsBest app ever, use it for hunting and hiking. Great options and detail!.Version: 3.4.1

Overall great; usability could be improvedOverall this is a great app for planning and tracking a hike. The ability to view location and tracks offline without a cell signal is fantastic and helped me a great deal during a 2 week backpacking trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, where the boys are responsible for navigating, but having a 3d map of the routes as a backup was so valuable. It helps me during a hike to check the terrain to see how much more uphill or downhill I've got to do before giving the knees a break. A couple of usability improvements would be greatly appreciated. 1) When downloading a map, it would be nice to have the default map area be the area currently being displayed, not the current location. The use case is this: I've downloaded a route or waypoint list and now want to download a map of the area. I choose "Add New Map", and the default region is my current location, and I have to pan and scroll over to where I hope the waypoints are. So annoying. 2) The process to import a .gpx file is cumbersome and not intuitive. Save to Dropbox, then Open the Maps 3D app, then go to Track List, then Import Tracks, then choose Open Dropbox, then Select the File, then Export > Open In ... and finally Maps 3D. It's a convoluted exercise that I wish was easier..Version: 4.1.4

Go to hiking appUsed free for a year, was great. Paid for pro. This week on casual day hike, loaded the app and received error reporting that the map data server was down. Still no map data. Had to reselect default map provider. This is link in white border at bottom of window of saved maps. 5 stars for great app, -1 star for UI / error handling..Version: 6.4

Best navigation appI have used several other apps and this is definitely one of the best. 3D graphics are great and map details are very good. I used it for mountain biking and it's all I could ask for..Version: 4.1.4

Great GPS, but....Great app but isn’t designed for tablets... Doesn’t utilize the entire display on a tablet and can only be used in portrait mode. For some this may not be an issue, but I had hoped to use the larger format display in my vehicle and boat. Hopefully they’ll address these issues in future versions..Version: 5.4

Great AppAn amazingly powerful app, and hats of to all involved. One request would be to improve the management of the downloaded maps; 1) Refresh - to reload the map with the latest tiles, 2) Unload - to keep the map name and area information but to delete the tiles and save space on the phone, 3) Reload - to reload an unloaded map..Version: 6.5

Great appI’ve had this app for a while alongside with Gaia. I’m dropping Gaia now bc they made it a subscription. I can tell you Maps3D does pretty much what I liked from Gaia..Version: 5.3

Better than GarminWe tested this out on a 20 mile snowshoe. My $600 Garmin ran out of battery half way there. This app kept tracking. I’ve been using it now for years. You don’t have to load extra maps that cost hundreds more, you don’t have to bring an extra item, just your phone, the mileage and elevation are accurate, it works reliably without service even deep in the North Cascades, and it is far more intuitive to use. It allows you to plot your own route but has most hiking trails already available. This is better than Gaia, Carin, and All trails. Please stay in business forever 🙏🏼.Version: 5.1.2

Love the appGreat for hiking!! Many hiking trails intersect with other trails (that may or may not be shown on the map) so I find this app invaluable when hiking a trail for the first time. It takes away those nagging feelings that you may have taken a wrong turn. Hard to make mistakes when you've got the tracks for a trail imported to this app. However a big negative is how complex it is to import tracks. The instructions should be step-by-step and clearer to follow. Ideally there should be an easier way to import tracks but I guess once you get used to it, it's something you can live with..Version: 4.1.4

Great DeveloperApp is top of the line and offers just about everything you would need. This developer listens to customers and their beta testers. I purchased the app a few years back and have watched it grow. Thank you for a great app and listening to those of us who are eta testing the app. Everything is working well, thank you!.Version: 6.4

Maps 3D is awesomeVery pleased with this update! The driving direction map orientation (DDMO) feature is extremely useful. This app has kept me safe and on track in the worst conditions on very dangerous terrain! A must have for any tech savvy hiker/mountaineer!.Version: 3.1

Useful AdditionA very good supplementary tool to Google Maps and Waze works well and is very easy in the eye too. The terms & conditions are, miraculously, both genuinely readable & useful. Good job & well worth the investment..Version: 3.1

Works really wellI never could figure out my Garmin. This is intuitive and works really well on my iPhone6. You just have to ensure that your required map tiles are downloaded prior to the trip. I use it snowmobiling and mountain biking with total reliability to date. Everyone I show it to, downloads it..Version: 4.1.4

Only one thing missing…. Watch supportI’ve used this app for years. Provided me with memory of holiday trips, days out walks. Would It be possible to show coordinates, bearing and track offset on the Apple Watch?.Version: 6.4

Essential travel appI'm travelling through Chile at the moment and this app has saved me on numerous occasions! Accurate and even better with the latest update! Keep up the good work!.Version: 3.2

New Zealand tripHave been using this app for years now and watched the steady improvement progression. I’m currently on holidays in NZ using an E bike which has greatly increased my distant range. I think the route planner is a great feature trekking or riding, also it’s great to know exactly where you are all through the journey. Keep up the great work. 😎.Version: 6.0

Love this app but...When I first purchased the app it had a satellite view option. I hate that they took it away, it was really useful sometimes. Other than that I love this app..Version: 5.1.3

Amazingly UsefulI have been using this app for about two years now, and it has proven itself useful time and time again. The GPS is surprisingly accurate, and the terrain models show a sufficient amount of detail. The ability to save offline chunks and plot and track routes is what makes this app awesome. It has saved me many times when the trail disappears under snow or I decide to take a ‘shortcut’ or excursion and lose the trail. It helped me through a 5-day trip in the Sierra range, as well as more day hikes than I can count. It also has proved useful for plotting overland 4x4 trips. Can definitely recommend. Only problem is the step-up structured payment system... it would be nice to just have one Pro version that gives full access to whatever the app can offer. tl;dr: This app is accurate, helpful, and awesome. Only drawback is the payment structure. Recommend for any outdoor enthusiast..Version: 6.1

Seems like a great app so far!Haven't had too much of a chance to really try it but so far just playing with it seems pretty good! One thing I'd like to see is the ability to coordinates in UTM..Version: 3.3

WA maps yeah! This is a fairly complex app because it does a very complex job. It is not an app for idiots that want a simple ‘where am I?’ app. If that’s all you want use Apple’s Maps. If you really want an off road mapping app with a tonne of bells and whistles then take the time, learn how to use this and be blown away. I live in Western Australia and the maps are true and accurate right down to tracks in the highest detail. I highly recommend it, not to idiots though. :).Version: 5.3

Good ideas but need more workI have been trying a a few off road offline apps over the years, there is a few good one. I like the idea behind this one the terrain view is great and has shown some improvement over recent months, like the full screen view works fine on the IPad 2, the new changes to the 3D view by dragging two fingers up or down to adjust the angle of 3d view seem to work intermittently on the iPad 2. The map down load has improved, although I do still get problems with open cycle maps view. Could use a version for the iPad at the moment there is no landscape view. All in all good offline app with downloadable maps from Open Street Maps for when your no where near a data connection. Easy to use. Many thanks, keep up the good work..Version: 2.7.1

Awesome appUse this for skiing/hiking/snowshoeing has always been spot on and very robust..Version: 4.0.2

Love itThis is a sweet app for me any ways as a tracker.Version: 2.7.2

Excelent appI use It to plan my trips. It provides great 3d map so you can see exactly how your you’re will look like. Oh can also track your progress,.Version: 5.1.2

(Update) Impressed - needs better search though.Updated review: I have been using this app on and off for the past few years. The developers have clearly been working hard the whole time. Unlike many tracking and routing apps that seem to be released and abandoned, this app has been consistently cared for. The original review's issues have been addressed mostly as well. Thanks for this awesome app guys! •————————————• Original review: This is a very nicely done app. The routing and map saving functions are really cool. The topography and POIs are a bit lacking. Staring at a trail on the map, I searched for the name and it didn't show in results. I use my old neotreks app to find trails and then this to plot and track the hike. Stuff like shelters and pay stations would be amazing. Please? Keep it up though guys :).Version: 4.1.4

Map appGreat app seeing things in relief are great perspective better on ipad.Version: 4.1.2

CoolCool app, used it recently for mountain walk in Scotland, worked fine.....only thing is seem to crash out few times on me and also connecting to Facebook dosent seem to work.Version: 2.7.1

Great app!Easy to use, great for ATV trails.Version: 3.2.3

Removed featureGreat app, but you have removed my favourite feature Setting a destination, using only one waypoint to navigate to which was great to find your car after walking all day please can I have it back.Version: 4.0.1

Great App!I use this app all the time when I go hiking, the only complaint is that it is slow (iPhone 5) and I wish it would have the distance to gps on the home screen..Version: 4.0.2

Great!New edit: Still loving this app, but I wish it was possible to replay a track. Also wish it was possible to edit the name of a waypoint. Old review: I just needed something to track my hikes. I really like how simple this app is. It shows all the information I'm interested in. I've used other apps that are just too busy and bloated. I don't care about calories, social feeds, recommendations, or what exercise activity I'm doing. I just want the basic geo stats. This is it!! It could be more stable though. Sometimes it seems as if the app freezes. Search could also be better..Version: 5.4

BrilliantJust perfect. Whether I'm going walking, biking, skiing, even sailing. If I'm going abroad for a bit. If I'm going somewhere with poor data coverage. Just download the appropriate area to maps 3D and enjoy the brilliant interface and 3Dness. I also love the way I can create routes for running, walking or cycling. These are uploadable to my Garmin. I can also save gpx tracks for geotagging photos. Keep up the good work!.Version: 5.1.3

Maps 3DThia is a great app. I use it for country hill walking in the UK. Once you've spent a little time understanding how the app works, it will guide you accurately wherever you are. Also, and it should not be underestimate - if you need to contact the creator of the app you get an almost instant and personal reply. Well worth a 5 star rating..Version: 3.3

Great appI’ve been using this app for years and it’s been on many backcountry trips. Has some great features. Offline maps work great. A++.Version: 6.2

The Best!Well designed app. I really like the fact that maps can be downloaded for offline use. It's got me out of trouble off trail, more than once..Version: 4.1.4

Perfect app for off-road use!Recommand 1000%.Version: 3.4.1

The best all round/worldwide hiking app? After the demise of EveryTrail, I set out to find a replacement. Tried 6 or 7 different apps and finally narrowed it down to either this or GeoFlyer 3D. This is the better all rounder because - 1. It has worldwide coverage with several types of (free) mapping available to download. 2. Easy to import .gpx routes - just click on the file in the browser and 'Open in' offers the Maps 3D app. 3. Very configurable - the settings menu gives you a lot of options to fine-tune the app. 4. Comprehensive progress stats mid-route. Route planning feature works well (as long as you want to follow a marked track) and is very useful for looking at distances and elevation profiles for potential routes. Track recording in the background doesn't seem to use up much battery (<5%/hr iPhone6) Overall, it's an excellent app and I've yet to find any major flaws. For future versions, it would be great to see... the two things that GeoFlyer does better - 1. Estimated duration of a planned route. Yes, everyone walks at different speeds but it's still useful to have a baseline to work from. 2. A little faster to pan/zoom around the map please, with the ability to zoom-in one level further. Even if there's no gain in detail, it's good to be able to magnify the display more at current position eg. at a junction of tracks..Version: 3.4.1

FantasticThis app is fantastic. I've been using it to track my hikes off the known paths and it's great..Version: 4.1.1

Works for offline (no internet) userVery useful app for me. I bike a lot and the gps really helps for even i dont have sim nor internet connection. You have to make sure you download the map first if you have a wifi so you have permanent map saved in your iphone. I use and rely on this app for my bike routes and for knowing where are the bike routs to get me to the destination. But this app doesnt have a route plan or direction if you need instructions to go somewhere I like this app and didnt replace this app as my bike map..Version: 3.0

Easy to use and as complete as needed!Love it. It works as described..Version: 4.1.4

The BEST cycling & Hiking AppAfter having tried so many different apps, there is simply no app that comes anything close to this. Just superb. It has all the functionality you will need in a single app. Because the app has so many features and geared towards use on the move, some UI elements are not the most intuitive. But stick with and you will simply love it!.Version: 3.1.1

If you’re a hiker then this app is your best buddyI’ve been using Maps 3D for a few years now and find it indispensable for mapping my hikes and guiding me when out walking. I do a lot of walking in the UK and often use it’s route creation features to setup my walk before setting off and then just periodically check I’m on the right track while out walking. I also do a lot of hikes in the wilderness of Montana, Wyoming and Idaho. This is where I find the offline maps most useful as a mobile phone signal is rarely available out there! I always use the tracking feature and this is one of the few apps that has very little impact on my iPhone battery life. I can be out all day in the wilderness and still return back to civilisation with 30% or more battery power. I’ve contacted support on a number of occasions to report minor issues and offer “new feature” suggestions and always found them to be responsive and extremely helpful. I’ve tried a number of the other “specialised” hiking apps, but always return to using Maps 3D because it does what it says on the tin and does it very well. Keep up the great work guys..Version: 5.1.2

Excellent App10 days hiking in Switzerland. Didn't put a foot wrong. Simple to use, yet provides great data and information about your hike. I have used others in past, but nothing I have found is as good as this. Best "outdoor" app I have ever used..Version: 3.4.1

:-)Like 3d view very much. Give more information than standard 2d view..Version: 2.5

FantasticI love the integration with both USGS topo maps ("quads") as well as OpenStreetMap. This has really helped me find my way on local trails, some of which are quite new. I just wish they had a dedicated iPad version and apple watch support too. But still a five star app..Version: 4.1.4

Powerful tool with a learning curveI've used this pretty extensively to map hikes in and around Seoul. Almost always works well, although I've had it stop tracking twice - I THINK because I switched to too many other apps and Maps 3D was closed in the background. I now just remember to switch back to Maps 3D after using another app and all is fine. Perhaps that was even a bug that has been fixed in more recent versions, as it hasn't happened recently. At any rate, two things I'd really like: - the ability to show more than one recorded track on the map at a time. Maybe it is there, but I haven't found it. Like I said, there's a learning curve. - Apple Watch support. I'd really like to see my pace, distance, and altitude and be able to pause/resume recording without digging the phone out of my pocket..Version: 4.1.4

TerrificWe've used this all round Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia and it has been great not only for hiking but getting around towns too, especially if you don't have a local sim. We've also used it hiking in the U.K. and the same applies - one of the very few essential apps on the iPhone..Version: 4.1.4

Love this app!Very useful app for hiking..Version: 4.1.2

Coureur des bois suttonExcellent gps pour randonnée pédestre.Testé dans la région MONT SUTTON ... Bonne randonnée.Version: 4.0.1

So far so goodOnly used this app once, and it worked well. Will continue to explore the different features. I know it can do even more..Version: 4.1.4

Very good appNot perfect but well worth the money. It allowed me to find the nearest hills to where I live in Oxfordshire, UK, which is all I wanted. The ability to increase the apparent gradient is an essential and well implemented feature..Version: 6.3

Better than Mud MapsHave tried the well known Mud Maps app and this is much more awesome by far! iPods DO NOT have the accuracy of a gps unit so your location will be out by a few meters, depending on signal strength..Version: 2.4

Really like itDownloaded for the iphone4s and wow am I impressed! Have Downloaded the maps for the 3 peaks challenge and now scared of what I face lol. Update: still a quality app and with the latest update, makes it easier to plan routes..Version: 3.1

Way better than On Trail!I have used this app for trail riding all over the PNW. Easy to use, low battery use, reliable. I have a treasure trove of saved tracks. Love this app! “If you know the trails you will always have a friend to go with you.”.Version: 6.6

Perfect SolutionGreat Application! Downloaded maps and navigation in airplane mode lets you use GPS with very little battery drain. I’m planning on replacing my Garmin GPS with this, after testing on 9 day trip this summer..Version: 5.1

Nice off-road mapping appI like the several different map layers available. I would prefer a layer that combines the features of Topo Map 2 and 3, since 3 has a lot of labeled Forest Service routes, but is low contrast. A slightly higher contrast Topo Map (like ViewRanger) would be nice too. The 3d feature is nice for visualizing trail altitude profile. The track recording features are very nice and the stats for a track are nice as well. The UI is the best I've seen on this type of mapping app. Clean, intuitive after minimal practice, and not at all clunky. Three things that leave me wanting: The biggest thing I would like to see from this app is the ability to store multiple map types for a given region. That way I could quickly switch from Topo 2 to USGS in the backcountry. The next is satellite imagery. Finally, the ability to use different coordinate systems like National Grid and MGRS, with the option to display at the top right under the elevation. Bonus: the ability to import and export GPS tracks..Version: 4.1.4

Amazing when out of rangeWe were hiking in Victoria and being able o download a section of the map beforehand meant we could check our location, altitude and route ahead. So helpful!.Version: 3.3

Great for huntersI’m an avid hunter and use this app every time I’m in the woods. Makes it easy to mark where my tree stands are, or where I find sign of deer. It is also nice to see where I’ve walked on the days I am walking through the woods..Version: 5.3

Wonderful for outdoorI'm amazed of such offline map. It was a gap in iPhone which this app filled. Adventurers can download the target location then use it while there is no mobile signals. Merci.Version: 4.0.2

Terrific app! There are many hiking apps out there, and I have tried most of them, but this is the best. Not only does it do a great job in terms of offline maps at varying levels of detail and customizable coverage for each, but the 3D functionality really gives you a sense of the terrain you just can’t get otherwise. The best feature, however is the ability to preplan routes and specify just a few points along trails that appear on the map and themn have the app automatically create a oath that actually follows the selected trails!.Version: 6.3

5 thumbs up!!Different map views are amazing.Version: 4.0.2

In-App purchases.. why?I give only a 3 because of the introduction of In App purchases. I expect they will shortly switch features. It’s always good when developers read your review and reply, very professional; i reslly appreciate it. Any plans for a website version?.Version: 5.0

You fixed it!!! Now it’s truly awesomeGreat app to use. Just download the map for the area you need and you can’t get lost. Used it for hiking and motorcycling trips and it was reliable and easy..Version: 5.1.1

Great mapI absolutely love this app download maps at home. Strap to the bike when out bush. lets me track were iv been and were i am. when i need to find a quick way home (low fuel) i can not worry now. A+.Version: 4.1.1
