✓ Too easy?I've always found it quite challenging to finish a level of Sonic with over 20 or so rings, and I think I only finished Sonic 1 on the Master System when I was 12. This is a much different experience with what is undeniably the same formula as the classics. I realise that all the diehard fans seem to hate new Sonic, but for me it's perfect. I find it easy but I'm still having fun; I think that's what's important. The only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars is that the graphics are a tad ugly.Version: 0

Like others, I am a huge Sonic fan even through the turn of failed Sonic games being released within the past couple of years. The whole game in itself is very nostalgic, the music is catchy, the stage design is well done and the 3D isn't overdone and feels right when playing. My main problem with this game though is the controls, you can't win them all. You push the pad in a direction and suddenly you move at his main speed, it's very fidgety. The bosses too are just re-used from previous titles but with an added twist to them. In my opinion, they should have created new original bosses. ✓ I really don't know...First, I just have to put the question out to SEGA: Why on earth did they leave the E3 build on the iPhone? The console versions got great builds, with more accurate physics, better level design, a world map and some more AWESOME! In this one? Not so much. The physics are wrong. WRONG. if your standing on a slope, Sonic still jumps straight up. The acceleration is weird. The jumping is weird. Sonic is weird. The Egg-O-Matic is weird. The title screen is weird. The level select is quite good. The scrolling on the level select is stupid. The special stages are good. 'Impending Doom' is good. The spinning loops is good in my opinion, but try doing a loop slowly, and play a game of 'spot the ridiculous and hugely obvious flaw' If you can be bothered paying for it twice, get it on this and a console! (preferably 360 or PS3, as HD is awesome) To finish my review, I will say this: This is good, but not as good as it should be. Sonic 4, an honarable title. This is not Sonic 4. ✓ As far as it goes...I personally like this game, the controls, although it takes a while for some people to grasp, you get used to. The stages are fast paced, aside from Casino Street's second act, and the levels consist of the traditional special stages that we first saw in Sonic the Hedgehog 1991, with a twist which was an additional bonus. Although there are a few problems, the stages seem to just be improved versions of the original stages from the Mega Drive/Genesis, whilst Sonic fans may have been asking for a 2D old school game, that aspect was taken a bit too literally. The game has occasional crashes which is fine, as long as an update is followed that can provide a possible solution to the problem. All in all a good start for Sonic 4, hoping for some improvements in Episode 2..Version: 1.2

✓ Really good game, just not best Sonic gameI totally get what other reviewers have said about this game. I agree with the fact that: *The controls do need improving (both the tilt and virtual joystick are a bit hit and miss) *Sonic takes ages to speed up and looses momentum way to quickly. This makes playing against level bosses more difficult than it should be. But somehow, despite those two issues, I find it a really fun game to play. Once you get on a roll and you start flying through the acts, you do get the feeling that there is some of that old school Sonic in there. ✓ Almost ClassicI was born after Sonic 3 (just) and as a very young kid I loved Sonic 2 & 3. When I grew into my pre-teen years I experienced 3D Sonic, I thought the series was over. As a 16 year old I was amazed to hear about Sonic 4. This is the best Sonic game of recent years but it is not the best. I would like Tails and Knuckles to join and in episode 2 remove the Act selection, also make the Boss part of a regular act. This game has gotten me addicted and I love to constantly play stages to get better times. Homing attack was an excellent feature that i was a bit iffy on at the start, but soon you learn to love it! The only nitpick I can give it is for having some physic problems, spindash has become quite useless and so has roll, its faster to run up a halfpipe than roll up it. Go play Sonic 1 in Spring Yard Zone, which way is faster? Rolling, I thought so. So lets hope Episode 2 fixes these physic problems and then it will be the 'perfect' sonic game!.Version: 0

✓ Didn't see this comingThis was an unexpected update to the game and it's great. The updated Sonic model looks good and the games plays really well on my iPhone 6s. The only problem is there are some audio glitches, like sfx being lowered and music not properly looping. Other than that, this update out of left field is pretty good!.Version: 1.5

✓ I like the gameThe game itself is ok, I grew up with this game on my iPod 2&5 back in the day. I just wish they’d update the game to fit better on later iPhones. I love the Sonic franchise and I love the fact I can take it on the go. But for iPhone 12 and above this game feels cramped in the big screen with little play room. It's fast, controls work very well (first game I'm playing with touch joystick), it's pretty, keeps several elements from Sonic 1-Knuck, runs smoothly and the only crtiticism is no leaderboard. ✓ Classic Sonic At Its BestAmazing game. Only shortcomings are in the tilt control. If the camera rotated with the tilt it'd feel more natural like EA's NFS iPhone games. Also the d-pad looks too much like an analog stick which can cause a bit of confusion at first. Overall, Sonic the Hedgehog is finally back in the role we know and love from the past..Version: 0
✓ Worth the wait!A fantastic return to form with this new game. so many aspects which made me love the megadrive classics are here in all it's glory. my only gripe (and its a small one at that) is when sonic jumps while running, if you let go of the virtual dpad, he loses momentum and stops moving forward immediately. but its a small issue and could very well have been put in there to help with playing the game on the iphone/touch (as its a whole different ballgame when playing on a device with no physical buttons) overall, im extremely pleased to see sonic back to what he does best!.Version: 0

✓ This game is SO cool.I really like the model and the running animations they’ve done and the graphics are so well made, but I do want the running animations to be like what you did for the PC version of the game. For instance, I was always wondering if you’re going to make Sonic 4 Episode 3 and Sonic 3 mobile and complete the trilogy. I’m looking forward to see how it turns out soon. 🙂.Version: 1.5

✓ Good, but not the best...IT'S a good game! The "classic side" of the serie is respected. The graphics are very good and all those things... But, there is not lots of levels and I can't fight the final boss, the game crashes all time..Version: 1.5
