Modizer for Negative User Reviews

Great feature set, but too buggy and crash-proneI want to like this app so much, because it has the widest music format support on iOS, but unfortunately the app is riddled with too many crashes and bugs; for instance, the app will crash back to the home screen every so often when managing files, and attempting to rename a downloaded file sometimes results in a perplexing "no access to Inbox" error..Version: 3.1

Only plays first track from compressed vgm albumThe player used to be great, but now only plays the first track in a compressed vgm directory..Version: 3.1

Good, but has issuesOverall probably the best mod/vgm player on the app store. It plays custom formats (amiga, arcade, genesis, etc) very accurately and supports a huge number of formats. The ability to download your favorite music from inside the app is fantastic. I also really like that you can easily view information stored in the custom formats, for example HVSC notes. But now for the bad news… Unfortunately, there are two pretty big issues: 1) trying to download from some integrated menus like vgmrips causes an instant app crash 100% of the time, and it’s been this way for months, which means I’m stuck with whatever songs I’ve already downloaded before this bug was introduced. Being unable to download new music on a music app seems like it should be a high priority to fix. 2) navigating through your music library and playlists is really confusing, it’s easy to get lost and hard to find the music you want sometimes. I’m not a user interface designer so I have no suggestions on how to fix it, I just know that it’s not very intuitive. Our choices for custom format game music playback on mobile devices is incredibly limited, and so this is probably your best option. Just know beforehand that there are going to be some rather large annoyances while using it..Version: 3.1

Supports many sound formats, very buggyBeen using this app for over a year. I love using this program for its wide range of supported formats and it's ability to easily download from various sites, however this program has many frustrating bugs that can cripple your experience. The app intermittently crashes, back button does not play previously track in random mode, random mode only plays first track in a directory of zip files, only 256 downloads are allowed at a time, app deletes your download queue if you minimize the app when not playing music, app often restarts you open another app and you are not playing music (I.e. Someone calls you while you were in the middle of browsing/downloading). Many of these bugs have been around for quite sometime. If you are looking for an app to play a wide range of formats, this is your tool, you just have to trudge through or workaround the bugs..Version: 2.8

Decent, not greatWhile this app has excellent format support, the browsing and organizing of data is quite cumbersome, and limited to the way the app wants you to organize it. Visualizations are kind of cool but limited. File info viewer is cool, but switching between file info viewing and extended controls is a little weird. My biggest complaints are lack of options for getting files in and out of it other than the internal browser (just app-hosted FTP), and especially, no support for "open in" this app from other apps (it should register the file formats it supports for easy import from other apps)..Version: v1.6

I love/hate this app.Modizer has some awesome things about it and some terrible things about it. The awesome is that it plays just about all of the modern file formats used for legacy game music. You can literally have thousands of game soundtracks from platforms like NES, Genesis, and arcade, to less popular stuff like Atari ST, PC-88, and MSX. The interface for adding new OSTs is intuitive, the tracks are usually bit accurate, and they take up barely any room at all. But it’s not all roses. The playlist functionality is unusable, and the random track feature only plays the first tracks out of any given pack. By far the most frustrating issue, however, is the fact that the app periodically needs to “update the database”. I don’t know what is in this database, but it takes FOREVER to update. Case in point, today I tried to do it, and gave up after about 20 minutes. You have to click update, and leave your phone alone, because if you put the app in the background, it will reset and you’ll have to start over the next time you try to use the app. This basically forces you to choose between not using your phone or not using the app, every few weeks or month or however often it gets an updated database. As much as I love the pros of this app, I don’t love it enough to put up with such nonsense..Version: 3.0

The app works great however it could be betterI mean that it would be great if you can download some tracks from private collection from dropbox and play it on the app.Version: 2.9.3

Do *not* update.Have been using this for ages and love it. However, the latest update (v3.4) has effectively crippled it. SID tracks won’t reliably play, favourites don’t work, sound and tempo of SID tracks has completely changed, tracks skip randomly. 🙁.Version: 3.4

Solid, but UI needs a lot of workSelecting a mod for download takes you to a website unoptimized for the iPhone, with the download link buried somewhere in the webpage. Not exactly user friendly. Especially actually downloading the mod involves having to hunt around the webpage for the link. Other than this, the app plays mods well..Version: 0

Update this please. Its a great app, but seriously in need of an update. 3 stars till then..Version: 2.9.3

Almost the bestThe player caps at 2:30 and doesn’t display the instruments. Other than that, every file I’ve tried playing works..Version: 2.9.3

Interface is ridiculous.I like the app, it works as advertised, but navigating the user interface is like getting lost in a maze. When an IT guy like myself can't figure out how to play a track I've just downloaded within 30 seconds, you need to take a look at your design. Hopefully there will be improvements here!.Version: v1.7

One of my most used apps + update crashing appFantastic app - I got it when it was free. I totally would have paid big bucks cause it's sooooooo awesomely good. Some of the playback engines aren't totally spot on, but that's not really modizer's fault. Besides - what do you expect from an app that tries to emulate all of those formats! Being able to FTP files in is so useful... I wish other apps used it. I have every Genesis, every NES soundtrack on here + a slew of great demoscene stuff. So Good... So Good. UPDATE: after update app won't load - when it does - it crashes after awhile and deletes my library. please fix!.Version: 1.2

Controls messed up on iPad 4The control are completely messed up on the iPad 4, sadly there's seems to be no further developement on this since last 1.7 version.... Too pad cause the app was really cool!.Version: v1.7

Visualizer Doesn’t workDon’t know why they show a visualizer in all the screenshots when this doesn’t have one. Was hoping to use it for a performance but I guess it was all a lie..Version: v2.9.1

Could be betterThe only issue I don’t really enjoy so far is the looping feature needs a fix sometime.Version: 2.9.2

NSF files not supported correctlyI enjoy the app and it's very impressive, but my primary interest is nsf files, and unfortunately they don't work correctly. The app fails to recognize the first track and incorrectly applies the track names for example. Silence of Daylight does not appear in Castlevania 2, and the infamous Bloody Tears is mistitled as Silence of Daylight. It's too bad because everything else works great..Version: 2.8
