Guitar Pro for Negative User Reviews

ImportCannot import guitar pro files . Crash each time.Version: 1.9.5

New usersAm I doing summit wrong are all the sounds taken from an old 80s video game such as Sonic or summit. Doesn’t matter which guitar I use ie clean guitar or distorted they now where sound like the real thing. If the Devs are brave enough to answer?.Version: 1.10.3

No drumsNeeds the ability to program drums. Thats what i bought it for...Version: 1.9.5

No drum note taking functionI own the desk top version and the app version hoping I could write notes for drums with my portable devices but sadly you guys didn’t put it there on purpose to force people to buy the desktop version. Actually disappointed..Version: 1.10.3

Rather disappointingI am ready to accept it’s just basic browser player. But, at least let it play audio from gp8 files...Version: 1.10.3

The last update made it terribleThe ux is difficult, the options buttons got a lot smaller. Changing or muting tracks is harder. Also, it’s almost impossible to find the downloaded songs in an iPad. There used to be a list, but now only search is available..Version: 1.9.5

DisappointmentI paid 14.99€ for this app a while ago and free tabs were available back then but I now have to pay for a subscription to access any tabs. A waste of money!.Version: 1.9.8

Lots of potential, but no quite there yet...The app itself is quite nice. I'm not expecting it to have the toolset or capabilities found in dedicated desktop notation applications. But it's sorely lacking some very basic functions. I mean to use it to notate parts "on the go", but there are severe shortcomings. First, there's no undo-redo functions, and sometimes, you might end up stuck for a while figuring out how to get rid of something you did (or re-creating something accidentally lost). I consider this a major oversight. Second, there are no score "navigation" tools! No repetition bars, no Coda, etc. This means that you have to endlessly copy and paste sections that could take much less space to do. Honestly, I think even the most basic of compositions uses these, so I don't know why they're not included. Other than that, the app is intuitive, simple, direct, and has good sounds to use it with. I'm not sure how important the notation part is for the developer, but it seems a lot of effort went into it, so I he that it can be further enhanced to the point where it is useful. Right now, I'm not sure I'd use this over paper yet. Because of all this, I'm giving it a 3 out of 5 stars. I hope I can revisit my score sometime in the future and rate it higher, if it continues to be updated..Version: 1.3.1

Poor experience, good features, thanks for FretlightLots of weirdness. Why are controls so tiny small and positioned on the top? Who needs all that useless white space. Search / filter is pain, options are super limited. Adding a star for keeping the Fretlight functionality that is only stable with this app as opposed to mac or pc..Version: 1.9.7

Horrible UI but useful toolThe UI needs work. The bottom bar cannot be hidden and wastes too much space. On the iPhone version the tab can only be displayed on one horizontal line so given the limited screen space it is virtually unusable. Automatically flow the display into multiple lines shouldn’t be this hard, right? As it is now, it is an indispensable tool for me cause I need to handle those Guitar Pro files... but it is also one of the most frustrating apps that I’d like to avoid using as much as possible. Please! This app has the potential to become truly great, so please improve it ASAP!.Version: 1.8.1

Needs updating badlyGreat app usually but I haven’t been able to use it for a while as it keeps crashing as soon as I open it. Doesn’t even give me a chance to open a file..Version: 1.9.6

Doesn’t workSays it is easy to find tabs, just no!!! Asked for a refund.Version: 1.9.11

MySongBookI use credits to buy tabs and he doesn’t appear in the list.Version: 1.10.3

Poor versionAlthough I'm a huge fan of Guitarpro, and have been using it to write music since 2004, I'm not impressed by this version. The main reason being, you can only write in one track. I like being able to write drums, bass, and even vocal melodies, as well as guitar tracks, which I can do on the computer version, but with the huge lack of music tablature writing apps, I thought Arobas would be keen to jump into the market. There's a lot of people out there, who would love to be able to write on the go with tablature rather than a sequencer like GarageBand has, because tab is a lot easier, and you can tune the way you want, and use proper time signatures, everything. Arobas, take this market before someone else does..Version: 1.5.0

Keeps crashingFix it!.Version: 1.9.5

Great but crashes so oftenI love this app, especially when paired with my WAZA-air system. But whenever I search for a tab, it crashes….every time. Restart, still crashes. Time for an update?.Version: 1.10.1

Doesn’t work with mysongbookOne the reasons I paid for the app was so I could download gp files from mysongbook, however they mostly all appear as keyboard music script and not guitar tab as advertised which makes both this app and MSB subscriptions a total waste of money. Ultimate guitar is better..Version: 1.9.3

Somewhat disappointed...I knew when I purchased that this is only a player and not editor. Still, I have to rate this low. Highlights: Audio quality is decent Loops whole score Plays selective tracks/instruments Lowlights: Very little of the nice formatting (section breaks, fonts, proportions) from the Mac/Win version is kept. The chord labels are tiny and difficult to read when in 4-bars-per-line mode. Looping of selected groups of measures is not possible. This is a bummer when I want to practice certain portions of a piece. No direct integration with the Files App. The only way to load your gDrive or DropBox files is to use "Open In". It would be nice to be able to create folders to organize your scores. Overall, I'd say it's not really worth the price (I paid $6). My only consolation is the possibility that the developer might improve it. Fingers crossed....Version: 1.8.1

Please Refund - Disappointed loyal customerI have used guitar pro since 2012. I really felt blind-sighted when I bought this app. When I saw that Guitar Pro had an app, my first thought was “my boring desk job was about to get a lot better!” My first thought was not: “I could regret not reading the fine print”. I trusted in the brand that I supported for years, so I bought it without hesitation, but when I go to use it I found that this app is almost completely useless to a composer. If you primarily use GP to compose, don’t buy this, unless you hate polyphony. Because you can only write with one track per file. I’ll admit that it was an impulse buy and I should have read it the description more closely and not let the beginning of the description sell me. I just expected more from Guitar Pro on this. TL/DR Don’t buy for composing or editing– it’s a trap!! Only supports one track per piece..Version: 1.8.1

Just about pointlessPoor quality sound, very limited and near useless import options. Severely hamstrung app..Version: 1.9.6

Ok but could be betterI love GP6 on the PC - loads of functionality, easy to use, I write loads on it plus there are loads of tabs out there. This app though is not quite as good - no ability to edit or write tabs from scratch but I imagine that would require more of an app build and would warrant a higher price. For those reviewers worried/having problems getting tabs, don't bother with the song book thing - just download them from 911tabs or ultimatetabs, it's free (you have to log in via Facebook) and there are some superb tabs out there..Version: 1.6.8

Paid and did not registerStill waiting.Version: 1.10.3

Landscape tempo control!!!!!!!!!!!I have been wanting this for years for the iPhone. I HATE using the screen vertically, but I do t want to flip my phone, adjust tempo, flip it again. It’s a hassle to have to fumble with a phone when I’m trying to increase my speed(or decrease) fluidly. You are doing so well other wise! Maybe a little verticals slider for increasing/decreasing tempo on the side. Oh, make it switchable in the setting for lefties or righties. Don’t be bias. I’ll change my review if you slap that on the next update. Luv yuns🤘🏼 Hey! And also, for making note:WE WANT TO CHANGE TIME SIGNATURES HALF WAY THROUGH SONGS. ENABLE THAT FEATURE FOR MOBILE PLEASE..Version: 1.9.1

The apps not working rightThe idea behind this app is fantastic, but I just purchased it, and for whatever reason I’m having a very difficult time searching for songs, tried looking up even flow and it kept coming up as nothing found, after it A dozen tries it finally showed up, now I’m trying to look up twist my arm but the tragically hip, I looked up both the song and the artistAnd still nothing, if you guys can fix that then I’ll start using this app again.Version: 1.7.4

Can’t upload tabs from my files - USELESSCan’t upload guitar pro tabs from my files - USELESS.Version: 1.10.1

DisappointedI really like guitar pro on PC. But this is awful. I’ve used it for maybe half an hour and already found significant frustration with the bugginess and lack of intuition. First problem was after playback, if you go to edit, sometimes the cursor will keep snapping back to the end. Thought maybe hitting the pause button would fix it, but it requires a restart. Second one is that you can’t edit the tempo or any other details of a track once you create it. That’s terrible. And lastly, it straight up deleted the first note on me of a file, and when I went to go add it back it, instead of it auto correcting the measure, I now had all sorts of messed up disconnected 16th notes on the bar. Now I’m running it on an IPHONE se 2nd gen, I’m willing to bet the experience on other devices may be less buggy, but I’m honestly real upset I bought this..Version: 1.10.3

Needs Files Support badlyIt’s getting really frustrating that I have to import files into it and then I get this long file name to deal with. I even have full desktop which I use with my tutor - it would be a great companion if it integrated seamlessly and support handoff etc. as it is I find it useful but frustrating to the extent I get my tutor to save PDFs as they are easier to open an view on the iPad than gp files..Version: 1.10.1

Good updates but needs finer tempo controlYou can only speed up or slow down the tempo by 10%. There is a big difference in BPM incremented by 10%. If you have a song that’s 180 BPM, and you slow down by 10%, you’re down to 162 BPM. There is currently no way to adjust between those tempos. That’s a huge jump when you’re trying to learn a difficult section. Also if you are practicing a section and have several tracks muted, if you minimize the app then open it later, all the muted tracks have been changed to solo tracks and you have to go back and re-mute them. Please fix these issues..Version: 1.9.8

Please change this! It'll make GP perfectPlease let me export from the tab back to note pad!! And even multi track in notepad too!! I know you guys can do it.Version: 1.10.1

Micky mouse plays guitarThe onboard songs are poor with only guitar tab and notation. Very limited and a waste of money..Version: 1.9.3

Not entirely functional for writing.A good app for reading guitar pro tabs and learning songs with your iOS device but that’s not all guitar pro is for so I don’t understand why there are so many limitations when it comes to input and exporting tabs. Considering the price, surely having an export to PDF file (it only has export to GP OR GPX)for your notepad ideas would be ideal to be able to share quick ideas with people who don’t want or need to edit it further. Also, the ability to put in chord diagrams is surely a no brainer..Version: 1.9.3

FrustratingUse guitar pro 5 all the time. Never transcritos using app on iOS and find this software disappointingly limited and glitchy. I find the left and right scroll freezes, and the cut and paste options do not work properly, which is essential to not have to input repeating parts. Expected more, and it must be possible. Btw I’m a pro player and transcriber..Version: 1.9.7

UselessCan’t play ANY of the songs you like without paying triple what the app costs, if your going to put all the music behind a paywall then at least make the app free want a refund..Version: 1.9.11

Good app, but has some restrictionsMainly PC based functionality. Exporting tabs seems hit and miss. I wanted to export to ForScore but some tabs don’t have the menu option to do this. MySongbook player also has no IOS option to view tabs..Version: 1.9.4

Zero stars!! AwfulAwful app. Totally useless, what’s the point of a tab app if your can’t CREATE A TAB!!!! USELESS!!.Version: 1.8.1

So badTo start off, I'm going to just say that I was very disappointed with this. Not only is it a lazily built, unhelpful interface, apparently you also have to buy the songs too! So in total, if you wanted a decent collection, it could end up costing you $40-$50 which is completely unacceptable. What arobas music has done here, is scam more and more money out of people. They have destroyed any reputation they have built up with GP6. Overall I am very unhappy with this app. It was a complete waste of my time to download it, and of my money..Version: 1.6.2

Wish there was moreDon’t really care about lack of tones. Wish there was a way to make multiple tracks. Drums would be a nice feature too. It’s good for keeping track of some base ideas if you have the patience. Tabbing is kind of difficult on the app. Some note options aren’t there that make hard to tab what I want to. It’s not bad for what it is but it isn’t great. It would also be nice to be able to send compositions from the notepad to friends from my phone(this is the biggest issue for me)..Version: 1.8.2

Bought the app. Regret itApp. 99% of songs are unusable. I know I’m wasting my time writing this, but.... GIVE THE MONEY YOU TOOK BACK, CROOKS..Version: 1.9.8

Needs a LOT of WorkIn Notepad, the application seems limited to only tab; there doesn’t seem to be a way to edit on a staff instead. There is no way to hide the keyboard, which makes it difficult to review scores during editing. Exporting to the desktop seems impossible. I expect to be able to at least export to Dropbox, OneDrive, etc., if I cannot sync to my desktop app via iCloud. Sitting in a music lesson, or in a session or at a café, this app *could* be useful for capturing music, but it requires a TON of work to useful or anything more than a distraction..Version: 1.8.2

Where’s the RSE sound banksOpened up a track on my phone to play along to only to find lack of the realistic sound engine. If my 15 year old intel Macbook can run it on Guitar Pro 5 there’s no reason a more up to date iOS version can’t. Feel £5.99 was steep for basically a midi playback app..Version: 1.10.1

BuggyPlease please fix the bug with freezing of the app when you select more than 2 tacts for repeating in a loop (this bug exists for a long time but it is a popular use case for me while practicing and using the app - it’s a shame!)App kill won’t help - xs max but was present on iphone 7 max and 8 max as well.Version: 1.9.7

Fix it. Make it working like beforeI used to love it but now I can’t use it like before, I don’t know why. I am ready to pay a little money to be able to use it..Version: 1.9.9

Updated app breaks existing filesUpdating the app has broken existing files. Sound clip defaults to nylon guitar, I have to manually change each file back to ‘Distorted Guitar’ before playing, but am unable to retain this setting so have to do it EACH TIME I open every file!!.Version: 1.8.0

Useless, feature-poor and overpricedAnd on top of the headline, a very unpleasant company to deal with in my experience..Version: 1.9.11

Need to be able to create in this appThis app is OK to load up some music to read on the go, but it is a LONG way from being useful to actually write without having access to the desktop app. I’d really like to see the function to easily and quickly create solos while the ideas come to mind on the move. With this i spend more time swearing at the so called notepad feature as it is just too basic and so slow to compose. As such I am unable to rate the app over 2 stars. Desktop version gets 5 stars from me..Version: 1.9.11

A Decent Companion for Guitar Pro 7, with just a couple issues.First of all, it runs fine. It could be a little better, but it works. For being 10% or the cost of the PC version, it’s worth the buy. But, I would not use this if you are intending to write or change music on it. It is great for reading tabs, not exactly making them. Yet, my biggest issue is it’s soundbank, which is not even comparable to the PC version. If there is a way to download a better soundbank, or even the PC soundbank, I would pay extra just to get that, because this is really lacking. Again, this is decent for reading tabs, but there are better alternatives out there..Version: 1.9.11

Double hit.I paid for this app and tried to play some of the songs and now it wants me to pay more to access the songs. Sneaky. It won’t let me load guitar pro files sent by my teacher..Version: 1.10.3

Good app for viewing tabsGood for viewing tabs with nice options. The new version supports GP v7 files which is much needed. Only 3 stars because it is not possible to view “multitrack” on the iPad. With the iPad Pro and such, there is plenty of screen size to support this, at least 2 or 3 tracks at a time. This is a much needed feature for a lot of tabs out there tab “guitar 1” and “guitar 2” and so on. “guitar 1” will have rests while “guitar 2” plays. Or “guitar 1” solos while “guitar 2” has rhythm. So, being able to see both guitar tracks at once is much easier than flipping between tracks..Version: 1.8.0

Could be so much betterI love the idea of this, but unfortunately it's the most unstable purchase I've ever made from the App Store. Guitar Pro for iPad crashes almost 50% of the time when opening scores and nearly 100% of the time if you dare try interacting with it whilst it's playing something back. Crashes aren't just minor annoyances either - bugs such as re-opening the app after a crash to find that all of your saved scores have disappeared can result in hours of work trying to retrieve everything from the web. Personally, I've just given up. This really is such a shame, as it isn't a poorly designed app at all, and I love the library style interface for finding your saved scores. The iPad is the perfect tool for reading and interacting with notation and tablature, but it's still waiting for someone to perfect the idea. With the many stability improvements that it needs and an improved playback engine and sound bank, this app has the potential to be really quite amazing. Sadly, in its current state it is almost unusable..Version: 1.0.6

Corrupted filesEvery Time I try to add a tab from ultimate guitar it says corrupted file cannot open… bs… I’ve been using this app for years and now all of a sudden I can’t add any tabs to it !!!!!.Version: 1.10.1

Needs workThis app has potential but lacks in so many areas. When writing you can only write for 1 track, and no persuasion. When I wish to listen to a file someone has sent me (via email or whatever) there's a nice little button saying "open in guitar pro" but it always freezes, even when going through the program an searching the net. Waste of money.Version: 1.4.0

How to search artistsHow do I get to search artists? Do o have to connect to a computer? Getting very frustrated..Version: 1.9.5

Do they even care? This $10 app is STILL not compatible with their $70 desktop app released 10 months ago. Do they even care about this?.Version: 1.7.4

Guitar Pro... great desktop software terrible app.It was a sunny Wednesday in Australia as I clicked buy on this app. I had just decided I’d stream line my work more efficiently for next year will having 60 students a week it was going to great to carry less books ect. Well at least a book can’t crash when you open it. A page may fall out but you can fix that. So take point for the book and fix this dogs breakfast of an app Talk about terrible development for an app. Every time I open a file it crashes, try to import a file it crashes. Look at your IOS device it crashes, thinking about what to have for dinner the app crashes. Waiting for your dog to do its business when you are out for a walk.... The app crashes. Last time I watched anything crash this hard it was when we had the GFC. Fix the app please, develop a new one or issue a refund. Merry Crashmas.Version: 1.8.2

So close, but missing one key featureThis would be my favourite music learning app if only it had a speed trainer like the desktop app! It’s the main feature I use and would like it to be portable..Version: 1.9.7

What a jokeI want my money back. Useless..Version: 1.9.11

Essentially UselessFor 5 bucks, all you get really is the ability to read and playback GP files in MIDI. Despite what the application says about "loading RSE samples", the tabs will sound abhorrent. Not worth 99 cents. Love the PC version, but this was a ripoff. Without the ability to compose, where is the point?.Version: 1.0.6

You won’t find what you are looking for! This app has like 10 artists and that’s it, you won’t find the tabs you won’t, you won’t find pretty much anything in it!! Don’t waste your money it’s a huge mistake and the app is very misleading!!.Version: 1.7.4

Seems pretty buggyI downloaded the app yesterday and put a couple of hours into fiddling with it. Although I love the idea of the app, it has proven to be frustrating. First, I signed into the associated music service (which itself was a buggy experience from my iPad). Once I finally got it all working, I spent a good hour going through the song list and adding to my favorites. Once I had a good fifty songs, or so, I was pretty happy and looking forward to learning some new tabs. My iPad went to sleep, as it does after a period of time. When I woke it up, all of my favorites were gone. Zap. No record of that hour I spent. What a PAIN! This evening I opened the app on my iPhone and somehow navigated to an offer for all of the top Guns’nRoses riffs. ‘That will be fun’, I thought. I clicked on the first tune and I was instantly transported to a completely separate page with everything in French! I kid you not. I still can’t find my way back to the GNR tabulature offer. Only one day in, and I am already frustrated. A good idea for an app that needs some intuitive help and maybe a bit more time on the oven..Version: 1.9.7

Terrible app, zero functionality, please refundOnly got one star because zero wasn’t an option. Downloaded to my phone and iPad, but it’s impossible to import guitar pro files or other files from your Dropbox. It will import files from something called “mysongbook” which isn’t an app (and who still uses a desktop or laptop?) and also doesn’t import from Dropbox (it’s almost funny the complete lack of utility of these two apps except I had to pay for it). Paid for the app but when I tried to request support for imports it asked for a license key which I didn’t receive at any point in the process. Also didn’t receive a response from customer service. Update: This app still doesn’t open files from my Jumpshare or Dropbox, making it useless. FIX IT..Version: 1.9.4

Cannot open any tabs from iPadI cannot open any tabs on my iPad. I only receive the message ‘Error. File Corrupt.’ When trying to open any Guitar Pro tabs. Or when the files are located from within the app they will not load, instead there is a constant loading circle but nothing appears. There are no instructions online for how to fix this and I would like some support..Version: 1.9.11

I want to like the app but it’s unusableThe app crashes every single time I open it and I cannot actually use it , love the guitar pro 8 on my laptop and wanted to have it handy on my phone but no dice :(.Version: 1.10.3

AwfulUsed to be a good app. Now it is useless..Version: 1.9.11

GoodI thought it would let u write music too maybe future update???!!!.Version: 1.0.4

Good PotentialThis app is reasonably pricey at $10, but is quite useful for a new learner of popular guitar. However the full access to Songbook is at an additional cost, which shouldn’t be. Functionality fine, but seems to be a bit thin on teaching content..Version: 1.9.11

Future upgrades???The 3 main things I would like to see in the future: 1. Ability to write songs!!! 2. Export songs as mp3 and email to friends or band members (cos not everyone has an iPhone unfortunately). 3. Ability to run app in the background so I can write lyrics to the music on a different app, or even better, have a built in notepad for lyrics!.Version: 1.0.6

Works better on the iPadSeems to work fine on the iPad but there are issues on the iPhone. Importing files from Files doesn’t work on my iPhone but does on the iPad..Version: 1.9.6

Stop nagging me for reviews!!Very disappointed in being hassled so often. You get 1 star..Version: 1.8.2

Good but far from greatI just wish it had a couple more features to writing my own tab. Options for custom notation for whammy effects or pick scraping, as well as charging time signature and tempo mid song would be amazing Very good for the basics.Version: 1.10.3

Multi-trackNeeds to be able to write multi-track tabs!.Version: 1.8.1

Guitar ProI was expecting to be able to create my own tab. This is not a tab editor that facilitates the creation of your own tab..Version: 1.9.5

TyfrgoDon't waste your money on this app. When searching for tabs, all it does is redirect you to other sites that want you to buy and install their app. Lousiest app I bought..Version: 1.7.3

Literally UnusableI use Guitar pro as a teaching assistant, a way to quickly write out music that looks professional and neat for my students to take home and learn. When I switched from a MacBook to my iPad for I knew that it would have a learning curve but i had hoped for at least similarfunctionality and workflow. I was sorely disappointed. It is unusable, and extremely frustrating as I used to use this for my job..Version: 1.9.8

Almost Useless nowI can no longer import files from a browser into the app. This wouldn’t be a big deal, but now when I download a guitar pro file and try to import it from my files into the app, the app crashes every time. The app is now unusable for me except for when I’m on the go and thought of a riff that I can put in to remember or to access files I’ve had prior to this issue. Not worth the price at this point. Please fix as this app has lots of potential being wasted!.Version: 1.9.6

It works but it's not greatIt can play files written in the desktop version of Guitar Pro, but you can't write files in the app. I would be okay with the app being only a dedicated guitar pro file player for on the go if it was actually a good one, but it isn't. It can't even play some files correctly. One of my files has a pick sweep in it that sounds very incorrect when played in this app. Even when it plays the files correctly, the sounds used for the instruments are of a significantly lower quality than in the desktop version. It gets the job done, but it definitely should be better..Version: 1.9.11

Needs workI have guitar pro 8 for windows and Mac, this software works fantastic. The iOS version is not consistent in speed and also does not accurately represents the tabs. I’ve had notes to be in the display to be garbage especially around showing harmonics or other notes tightly together. I also have notes that it’s hard to tell if the notes are in vertical alignment or not..Version: 1.10.2

“You better update your app”Still terrible for writing music. Still stuck with one track and can’t write multitracks. The tempo slider still jumps around, what if I want to play or write something at 115bpm, nope, bpm’s are only in multiples of 4. These I feel are minor things that would have been from the beginning from a $5 or $6 app when I bought it years ago. Now there’s an update, but still the same issues? Get it together guys..Version: 1.8.0

Really annoying bug…I can’t edit or move around the tab I’m working on after hitting the ‘back to start’ playback button until I exit and reopen the project….Version: 1.10.3

Not what it seemsJust downloaded the app and all looked good. Note pad is exactly what I need as a beginner learning guitar. Signed up for mySongBook to access the tabs, but then found I needed the pc version to do this and then export them to my iPad. Might just be me, but this wasn’t made obvious in the description. I no longer need a pc and only se an iPad, so not great then..Version: 1.9.5

ImprovementsYeah honestly I completely agree with the latest review comment. This app would be truly cutting edge with multi track, automatically measure bars and etc..Version: 1.7.4

Missing Essential Tools and Poor SupportGuitar Pro is a classic tool. On The computer, it rocks. I don’t care that the sounds are cheesy. I don’t use it for that. What I care about is that it needs to show both TAB and standard notation. Also, the user should be able to input the score in tab, or standard notation. Both of these features, do not seem to be available when you are using the app on the iPad or the iPhone. The mobile device help section states that both these features are available, but I couldn’t figure out how to use standard notation, so I contacted Arobus music and they have confirmed that these features are not available, even though their site displays that they are available for the iPad. I’m not very good with standard notation, but some of the books that I am learning from only have standard notation, so, to learn how to play it, I need to input the score in standard notation and then have it kick out tab for me. When they fix this, I will change my review to give them five stars. This really is my only complaint, but it’s a really big one..Version: 1.10.1

Needs keyboard supportNot the piano kind but the typing kind! For an iPad app not to support a keyboard in 2023 is quite the anachronism. I use my iPad like a laptop with Apple’s Magic Keyboard (which also has a trackpad)… but this app simply doesn’t recognise it, making the Notepad really awkward to use. Please consider adding keyboard support as a feature..Version: 1.10.3

Awesome appJust wish I didn't need to use a third party app in the background to get my iRig to pass through the Guitar to my headphones..Version: 1.9.8

Needs Compose featureNot a bad app but it has a few bugs with the downloading, and it desperately needs the ability to compose tabs. At least, on guitar..Version: 1.0.4

Great app but..I have been using this for a long time and i really love it, however, i want to use it on my pc as well but I need to buy another version for the pc. So im sticking with this.Version: 1.8.0

NopeNo manual, no instructions, no help files. Nothing. Mystery. I need the app to be able to scroll horizontally. Doing so would allow me to record the screen and add scrolling tab on the bottom of my tutorial videos without messing with the PC at all, by just using my Ipad and Lumafusion. Even better, we need a zoom function and a fullscreen mode for the score for sight reading, this while the score is scrolling, horizontally, a line at a time. Once I see these features, I will change this review into a 5 star one. Also, we need a DIAGRAM GENERATOR, where I can create a diagram QUICKLY and save it as a image, so that I can use the diagrams in my teachings. In other words, we need the program to be fit for TEACHING ONLINE too.Version: 1.9.5

I really want this to workI compose and arrange music using Guitar Pro on my desktop for my Ensemble. Excellent piece of software. I purchased numerous copies of this iPad version of Guitar Pro so my players could practice our pieces. The ability to loop sections, change tempo, and mute various parts make this an attractive practice solution. Mostly it works but the drum track is a disaster. The drums don’t play the same sounds as the desktop version. In fact many drum “notes” are silent on the iPad version. There also doesn’t seem to be any method of contacting the vendor for support..Version: 1.9.8

Horrendous User InterfaceGuitar Pro for the Desktop is outstanding, but the mobile app doesn’t offer much of anything. I don’t expect to be able to compose on the app, but it would be nice to at least view guitar tabs. The number of visible measures of music is very disappointing. In portrait orientation, you might get one measure. In landscape, you might get two or three. With the size of current phones, this app could really use more information density so we’re able to see more of a section of the music. The iPad version is barely usable either..Version: 1.8.2

Ceases on startupCrashes in loading screen on iPad. Unusable fix crashes or give me my money back..Version: 1.0.4

Needs a side scroll option. This app would have everything I need if only it had different scrolling options. Most of my students like following the side scroll. It wouldn’t be hard to add it in I’m sure. Just a suggestion..Version: 1.9.5

No export to PDFWhy is there no export to PDF?.Version: 1.8.1

Disappointed, please refundJust like others have said on here, I have used Guitar Pro in the past for composing music and once I found they had this app I immediately downloaded it thinking this would be great for what I’m used to in a more mobile fashion- immediately saddened to realize I could not even add more than one track. My favorite part of GP is layering tracks and playing with multiple instruments and sounds, which is impossible on this app. I unfortunately do not recommend spending your money on this..Version: 1.9.5

GARBAGEThis app is not useful whatsoever. I want my money back. PERIOD.Version: 1.9.8

2 stars till it gets updated for iPhone 6/6+It's a shame that for the price, the developers have not updated the app for the larger screen. I use it as a .gpx viewer and it works well for that purpose but the interface definitely needs some updating. It doesn't make full use of the larger screen sizes of the iPhone 6 and 6+. A bug/quirk I found annoying is there is nothing you can do in landscape mode besides play and pause. To access metronome, playback speed, settings or even going back to the main page, you have to switch it back to portrait mode. Overall, rather dated even though it was updated three months ago..Version: 1.6.6

Good, but NotePad is unintuitive.I love the NotePad feature, but it is very clunky. I would love to see keyboard and mouse be taken advantage of for an experience similar to that of the desktop app. Furthermore, there is no way to add slide-ins, staccatos, grace notes, dynamics, or detailed bends in NotePad, all of which I use very frequently on the desktop app. Please add these..Version: 1.9.8

Better than nothingIt’s not unusable, but for importing large amounts of tabs, most end up automatically sorted into large groups. The only option for file sorting is to tediously edit every single file individually to fit everything into whatever album or artist you wish. Terrible for packs of exercises that haven’t been meticulously given an artist, album, composer, year, etc. Your only options with this app are importing and editing file information—you can do nothing else to streamline your experience..Version: 1.9.11

Review guitar proGreat app, even though there is no point having this app if you can even create your tab with it. Its "cool" to be able to transfer it from the computer, but we want to edit / create them ! Please do something about it and you would have something new that other apps don't have !.Version: 1.0.6

Want my money backI just downloaded and try to use it, but I don’t know why it doesn’t play any song!!!!! I want my money back!!! This is a waste of time and money if I could I would put you -5 stars.Version: 1.9.8

Very useful but has problemsI’ve been using this app for around 3 years and it’s my main place to keep track of my riffs. The editing works well in this app but sometimes gets buggy if used for a while. The searching feature is bugged where if you search something once it will still search for that even if you clear what you searched. Also, I have hundreds of riffs and I’m starting to loose track of them, it would be nice if there was more ways to sort them- potentially by date created, bpm, time signature, instruments, etc. Maybe even adding folders for your riffs..Version: 1.10.1

Don’t be fooledSince update can’t add tabs from device internet like I used to free of charge. You now you have to register to something called my “mysongbook” and purchase tabs from there or transfer tabs from your computer or iTunes which defeats the point of having a Mobile Device with Internet. More ways to get money out of people!.Version: 1.9.3

Not for a composerIf you happen to be that one guy who just goes hard in the paint on guitar pro in their spare time, don’t care about learning the guitar & enjoy creating personal masterpieces with little attempt for applause from others & you do it because you love to or even if you use it just for fun cause of how awesome the pc software is you will be very disappointed with this. You can only write one track! Very limited options, or i should say it’s purely unrealistic MIDI sounds and not as good as the RSE, obviously. No eq. No fx. No changing the track to a different instrument at whatever bar you please. Oh! And my LEAST FAVORITE IS NOO DRUMMS. What! I feel like many people complain about the drums with the pc but as a drummer myself and through years of using it i am very comfortable with how they set it up. The drums from gp5 prob being my fav. I can’t even touch a drum here. Total impulse buy figured i could trust these guys since I’ve been a long time user & ACTUAL BUYER of their products. Thought wrong. Ah well a novice might be convinced this is good enough but not for the people out there like me..Version: 1.8.1

Fantastic for playing guitar pro tablatureThis app is great for playing guitar pro files, which means I can take a load of tabs with me wherever I am, or download and take a look whilst I’m on the go. The reading and playing functionality is en pointe... We need the ability to write tabs properly now. The notepad is okay but very limited. This is what the people want!.Version: 1.8.2

Garbage AppIt will not allow any files to be read. Everything comes up as a corrupt file, even ones that previously worked. This app is absolutely useless and a waste of money. I would like my money back..Version: 1.9.12

Update SchmuckdateThe new update has made the app unusable. When in the notepad fiddling with different ideas. If you dare so much as to press play than you are in for a treat. Because once you pause it that is the only best you are capable of editing until you press play again and pause on another beat. Really such a shame because the only negative to this app before the update is that you couldn’t write multiple scores together..Version: 1.9.3

The update is all good but......as much as one may love or loathe the new iOS look, I still can't help feel that the way this outputs some charts is still disappointingly for what is an app that can still be better than it is. For example, what is the deal with key signatures coming out incorrectly (or not at all?) and notation being displayed an octave lower than what's being played? Simple silly bugs that surely could be dealt with (considering we're dealing with Midi here within the XML data) and shouldn't be stopping professional musicians and teachers using this for gigging and educational purposes (considering not all the world use TAB to read music) Get this sorted please, it's been like this for way too many versions now. Also, notepad should probably include key signatures and some form of chord input by now..Version: 1.6.0

I loved this app, but it needs serious innovation.I’ve been a religious user of the desktop version of Guitar Pro since GP6 - I’ve relied on the Mac version of the app for around 7 years. As a teacher, it is an invaluable, indispensable tool. Initially, the GP app for iOS was brilliant. In 2011 there was nothing quite like it, it was innovative, practical, efficient and useful. But, as a teacher, I found the notepad the most interesting feature. I do a lot of travelling to teach, and the portability of the iPad coupled with the potential of this feature of the app was extremely appealing to me. So, I immediately began using the notepad to begin working it out. Immediately, even by 2011 standards, I noticed there was a quite frankly embarrassing lack of notation options if you wanted to use the notepad to tab music. As far as the notepad goes, to quote Roy Walker - ‘its good, but its not the one’. So, that was 2011. It’s been 7 years, and with such a long amount of time comes innovation and progress, or at least so we expect. I’m afraid to report that this app largely remains unchanged since the first day I invested in it. With apps like Symphony Pro and Notion on the App Store which are massively packed with features, it shows that this GP app is totally outdated. It’s not just from the perspective of the notepad that I’m disappointed, it’s also from the prospect of the basic playback features and visuals when playing back files made in the desktop version of GP. Again, this leaves A LOT to be desired in today’s day and age. It’s appearance is clunky and inconsistent, and when playing back files with large amounts of ornamentation, technical markings and dynamic markings, a lot of the notation is absent. Then there is the soundbank... Ultimately, for the money this App is ok, but a total overhaul of the app and the introduction of new features is absolutely necessary. The iPad and iPhone now have so much capability and power, and this app is just coasting in terms of what it could be. Yes, the alternative apps I mentioned above are upwards of four times the cost, however, you get ten times the features when compared to Guitar Pro. That being said, I’m not going to stop using any desktop app I have, because they are truly useful and absolutely irreplaceable to my work. It is just hugely disappointing to me that out of all the GP products, the iOS app is out of date and underpowered. It could be so much more. To summarise, if you are new to the iOS app, you’ll like it. If you want features beyond the basics, such as the ability to notate music and edit imported guitar pro files, you’ll be totally underwhelmed. Look elsewhere..Version: 1.8.1

Most bug ridden app I’ve ever used!!Constantly crashes trying to load tabs from my computer. Have wasted hours on this! Absolute rubbish, don’t waste your time!.Version: 1.9.9

Upgrade lost my tabs!Paid for the upgrade from GP7. The licence page says I have a GP8 licence but I have no access to any music. Worse still,I can’t access any of the tabs I’ve already paid for when I had GP7. This app has gone backwards..Version: 1.10.3

No finger numbers in chord diagramsIf you write a chord diagram in guitar pro then open it on this app....the finger numbers don't show up on the diagram when you hit the chords button. Are you kidding me? Takes forever to reach the company they don't test their products or care to improve them much (they're French go figure....lazy buggers) Don't bother ......Version: 1.8.2

Very angryWebsite refuses to email my inbox with the confirmation code. So basically I'm stuck with an 8 dollar program that does nothing. If the app was a physical being, I'd punch it's teeth right out of its head. Thieves. You're welcome for my money!.Version: 1.6.5

Dropbox SupportAdd support for reading files from a Dropbox account! Users want to be able to read files on the go from their computer, storing them online on apps such as Dropbox allow users to read these files anywhere. Adding this function to the app will increase usage..Version: 1.7.3

1. It doesn’t workBasically, I wanted an app to open guitar pro files directly on my iPad from UG... the app crashes 👍.Version: 1.9.4

Hidden Monthly Fee!? For what?Purchased this app thinking it would really help with my guitar and it wasn’t a bad app but juts now it charged me $14 as a monthly reoccurring fee. What a joke, Yet another greedy app wanting monthly charges LOL you do NOT HELP THE GUITAR COMPANY AT ALL. It’s upsetting when apps like this that could help start stealing from you. $300 a year? LOL that’s how much you think this is worth? Ableton live and pro tools industry standard programs that have a ONE TIME FEE. Bad business and engineers who could careless about us Guitar artists. Seriously. Don’t buy this app getting my refund right now. Buy an app that doesn’t look for monthly charges because they exist and are better than this junk.Version: 1.9.8

Way too basicWriting this as an iPad user. Been using guitar pro on desktop since about 2005, for windows and macOS. I’ve used other software for my transcriptions, but always go back to gp because it’s what I’m used to, and it’s easy to use. Currently running version 8 on my computers. This version is not that. Not even close. It’s basically just a reader/player for tabs you’ve made on desktop or downloaded elsewhere. It does that fairly well, but still comes with frustrations. Like not being able to add iCloud Drive as a location for tabs. If that’s where you store your tabs, you have to add them individually. And I can’t hide the fretboard. It’s just in the way. Why no option to hide it? For the price, honestly I don’t think it’s worth it. It should probably be a freebie if you have the desktop version. It’s clear the devs focus a lot more on the desktop version. But I really think this is a missed opportunity. I’d love to write my tabs on the go on my iPad. And I’d love to view my desktop tabs properly, as it really simplifies the layout. If this had the same functionality as the desktop version, I would happily spend a good amount of money on buying it. I’m sure a lot of others would to. Will you guys ever make this happen? For now I’ll stick to using the desktop version through Remote Desktop for my iPad..Version: 1.10.3

Great tool, poor design and features removedThis is a great tool. I still use it. However, the iOS app really needs a completely new redesign. It is not easy to navigate. Also, they removed a feature I used all the time (in-browser search for guitar pro tabs) and replaced it with mySongBook search which doesn’t have nearly enough tabs yet. In addition to this, when trying to tap on a song to load from mySongBook, it doesn’t load (no error message, no nothing. Just doesn’t do anything). Trying to reach support didn’t work either. I went to their website where there was no way to contact the dev team or anyone. They really need to make some changes. But, I hope they do soon and I will come back here and update my review..Version: 1.9.1

SuggestionsThis app has so much potential and has seen few major updates over the years. At this point, it should have all major features and capabilities as Guitar Pro 8.5 for PC. Sadly, it’s not even usable in mobile form to write or transcribe a simple track. Others have been requesting fully featured software like the PC version for years now. I would love to see the ability to import fully editable tablature, chord charts, and lyrics from apps like Ultimate Guitar (especially people who have paid UG Pro accounts ). It would also help to be able to connect a Jamstik 7 and Jamstik Studio MIDI guitar to transcribe music directly into the app by simple playing notes, chords, and expressions like bends, hammer-ons, harmonics, etc. via wired or wireless connection to one’s iPhone — this would not only make transcription and song writing faster and easier, but can also serve to help improve skills and accuracy by seeing exactly what one is playing on a screen as tabs. Likewise, imagine being able to use third party software like GarageBand for the same purpose — and to even be able to use effects to help create the song’s vibe/tone. I can go on and on here. I’ve heard the desktop software is incredible. Let’s bring this mobile app into 2023. Many people don’t even own a laptop anymore and most guitarists want to have the lightest possible rigs and tools for writing and performing music — please make this app a powerhouse!d,.Version: 1.10.3

Needs workIncredibly useful tool for learning difficult songs. But the interface is clunky as hell. Make a persistent play/pause button. I’m hitting it constantly and I have to tap the screen to bring it up. Why? Also the playback isn’t in sync with the marker as it moves across the staff. It’s off by like 1/4 note and really hurts the utility of that function. You can change the size of the staff, but that function isn’t very useful either since it does nothing to fit more notes on the screen. It just makes the staff tiny with a lot more white space. Still, it’s super useful to have all my tabs available all the time so I’d still recommend the app overall..Version: 1.8.2

DisappointingNothing like the older versions I have used. You would think it would be better... wanted to be able to compose the tabs of all the different instruments together, but you can only do it individually. No drums. Very hard to use and navigate. No real instructions or user guide. Useless app. I feel ripped off. I want a refund. Had the app for maybe 2 hours and it was a waste of money. Definitely not what I wanted..Version: 1.9.6

Great app but something's could improveThis app is awesome and I've been using GP for a long time now but there are a couple of things that could be done better. Firstly the sound quality could be improved but is still reasonable for what it is and secondly when importing GP files the app doesn't carry the original name details over and just gives the file a name with random numbers and letters so you need to go through and figure out what tab is what and rename. Otherwise great app!.Version: 1.4.4

Can’t see how to write tabWebsite claim you can write tab using the app, but all it seems to do is play tab. Not much use..Version: 1.7.4

It's ok but..It's nice, interpretation of GP very good HOWEVER TabToolkit still does it better for me because you can import all file types (eg normal tabs etc) but worth having as well as TabToolkit because you can write your own tabs. I've not worked how how, or if, you can write in standard notation or display your own tabs in standard notation. If its no there, it needs to be! Sounds are better than TabToolkit but I still find TabToolkit easier (and nicer) to use - mainly because of all the import option (but appreciate tab pro app will only want to promote tab pro) just saying this because much of the music I find uses other formats which kinda give TabToolkit the winner benefit. Good app tho. Note to Devs: can't find feedback button? So I'll have to leave this here: there seems to be a bug where you can't delete songs you've composed yourself - app just crashes out every time.Version: 1.4.0
