Pepperplate Cooking Planner for Positive User Reviews

Makes it easy to be healthier!Holy crap, this app is amazing! If you are anything like me, it's hard to eat healthy because finding recipes, making lists, and cooking can feel like such a hassle... This app takes away all of the inconvenience by being able to automatically store recipes from databases on websites (like smittenkitchen & allrecipes) so all I have to do is press a button (I downloaded the bookmarklet) and it stores the recipe and allows me to consolidate shopping lists for the week and help me cook! If you find a recipe you like that's NOT on an approved website, it's still super easy to use the bookmarklet to store the recipe. Also, the grocery list can be sorted by aisle or recipe, and if you have any common ingredients, the app will combine them- so grocery shopping is a breeze. I highly recommend this app!.Version: 2.2

My go to recipe appI really love the app and have been using it for at least 7 years. I knew being free was too good to be true and that someday I would need to pay for it and I am okay with that. I don’t expect people to work for free. But, now that I am paying a hefty monthly fee, I do expect lots of improvements. On the iPhone the search is not saved, so every time I look at a search result recipe and go back, I need to do the whole search all over again. I also don’t like that I can’t see an indicator showing which recipes are flagged as a favorite when in image mode versus list mode. I would also like the ability to print multiple recipes at a time or a link to a service so I could get a hard copy recipe book printed for myself..Version: 3.1.4

Good but needs more tweaking!!Excellent app to add all your favourite recipes into one place and share them. But definitely needs the ability to add multiple pictures to a recipe!! This is key to some recipes for process steps!!.Version: 2.5

Practically PerfectExactly what I need to ensure I have my recipes on me wherever I go. I love how you can add a whole recipe to a shopping list and how you can categorise them all. Only one improvement, in my opinion: that when you type in 200g, 1tbsp etc, the measurement and not just the number will come up in bold..Version: 2.3

Yay! An update is coming?! My wishes...I was so excited to receive the email about Pepperplate going to paid so it can be supported! I have been so tempted to switch apps so many times but I just love Pepperplate too much - it’s just in desperate need of an update! Would love to see... Better recipe import, smarter when combining things in the shopping cart (which I really like!), updated share options, updated GUI, a way to keep track of when you made a recipe (with notes) and be able to see that history (right now I just use the notes field), RATING!, nicer way of adding to and removing from categories, an export feature to maybe pdf? So if Pepperplate ever goes away - my history and recipes don’t, a better menu and meal planning design (would be great to sync with a Google Calendar!!). Again - glad to see an update may be coming! Happy to support you! Please just be careful not to ruin an already good thing ☺️! Also, please don’t make it crazy expensive or I won’t be able to afford it to support you and keep using it 😕! (Maybe don’t scare people away with too high a price and once some progress is made, would there be a way to keep a free version available and then maybe a paid with more features for those of us that really want it?).Version: 2.8

Pepper plateExcellent app I have been searching for ages for a good recipe app to house my recipes. They all seem to have something I don't like. For example bad font, too much detail on page, too many colours, you name it. Pepper plate is clean, crisp and your whole recipe is on one easy to read page. Well done..Version: 2.3

Awesome appI love this app, I love how u can write your shopping list and just sync's with iPhone, now I always no what I need when food shopping. But I would like to no how to import recipes as the sites which are on pepperplate website don't have the pepperplate app to share. But otherwise app is fantastic so happy with it..Version: 2.3

Excellent appThis app is brilliant works really well the ease of adding recipes from computer and directly from websites is very helpful. Things i would like to see from this app in the future: - make timer available for iphone/ipod as well as ipad - please make a search for recipes with the ingredient x function, would be sooooo useful for leftovers - expand the list of supported sites THIS IS ESSENTIAL.Version: 2.2

Great app, but needs some updatesLovely app with great basic features, but it's not been updated for a good while and looks a bit weird on the iPhone X onwards. The sharing features are a bit tricky as well, but overall a great app for keeping your own recipes together.Version: 2.8

This is my favorite cooking App !I've purchased lots of apps most I don't even use. This has to be one of my all time favorites. So much so that I was compelled to write a review of it, my very first review of an app ! This app makes recipe collecting and using so easy ! You sign up for free and tge main website is where you plug in your recipes. Now anytime I scour the Internet for a recipe and I want to use it and keep it. All I have to do is drop the URL onto pepperplate website and it not only keeps it for me but it breaks down the ingredients and sends them to my phone so I can buy them at the grocery store. No more transcribing ingredients only to re-enter onto my phone this APP is genius ! Also I can plan a weekly menu from my stored recipes and print it out. This saves me a ton of time. Kudos to the folks that put this out ! Thank you !.Version: 2.0

Great app...need more options for sortingI actually love Pepperplate, and use it daily for meal planning, shopping and cooking, but wish it had better sorting options. It would be nice to view recipes by category; i.e. Main course, side dishes, desserts. Instead, the only way I've found to view recipes by category is using the filter. This provides a view of all recipes in a single category, but once a recipe is viewed, the filter must be reset before the category can be viewed again. This is repetitious and time-consuming. The existing sort options are ascending or descending, by date or alphabetically. The integration between the recipes, planner and shopping list is flawless. It's easy to plan meals then add the recipe items to the shopping list. As long as all your devices are synced, you can easily create a shopping list from the planner, even if you don't remember to do it until you're at the grocery store. Having the recipe at hand reduces the chance of getting home and discovering you've forgotten a key ingredient. Expand the sorting options, and my rating is five stars!.Version: 2.8

Great!Haven't used all the functionality of this app yet but just the recipe recording feature is exactly what i wanted! I highly recommend for all those who love an organized cooking space!.Version: 2.3

SuggestionI love this app and it is well worth the subscription price. I would like to make a suggestion - I occasionally print a recipe for someone or email it. I would like for the picture that is on the recipe to show when I print. I would also like to print on 4x6 or different size cards as I am working on gifting a recipe book to my son. My favorite feature is the scale that gives you the ability to double the recipe or reduce. Thanks for this app!.Version: 3.2.0

Well-designed & wonderfully usefulSeems odd to moan about a (free) app that expects you to do a little work to import your recipes; do users expect them to magically appear by thought control? The bookmarklet is brilliant, manual input is quick & easy. Being able to centralise recipes offline via the app is fantastic!.Version: 2.2

GENIUS!!!!!!!!I absolutely love this app. I've been using it for months and love that it keeps all my favorite recipes, as well as recipes I'd like to try, all in one place. I add the recipes from my iPad and customize every bit of it, even add pictures to those recipes that don't have any. And have the convenience to access the app from my iPhone at the grocery store. It used to be a pain continuously searching for my faves on the epicurious app, as it would always delete them without the $1.99 recipe box sync upgrade. But now I have recipes from several cooking apps/websites as well as random websites/blogs with a good recipe or two. It's detailed; simple; beautiful; and smart! If you need to double, quadruple, or only make a third of the recipe, the app scales up/down the recipe for you with several given options. Genius! Love!!!.Version: 2.3

PepperplateLove this app but for some reason the alarm sound has stopped working. Keep going to settings to see that everything is correctly ticked but still no alarm sound!? Please help if there is a bug. Otherwise, just made the weekly cooking planning a dream! Great way of sharing recipes with my friends and having my favorite recipes at my finger tips. Cheers!.Version: 2.3

Great app, well thought through featuresThis app has loads of great little features such as customised keys for cooking measures, easy tools to up/downscale the portions and a really clear screen to use whilst cooking the recipe. Would agree with the downside about number of supported websites but otherwise it seems great!.Version: 2.2

Recipe keeperThis app is just what I was looking for Simply copy & paste ingredients/instructions and recipe photo's into it and it does the rest. Features = menu planner/ serving scale/ note area and edit function for recipe adjustment as well as side by side viewing of ingredients & instructions. Love it!.Version: 2.2

FantasticThis app stores my recipes in a slick looking app with great search functions. I use it everyday and it has never crashed and always synchronises with the web version flawlessly. I love it..Version: 2.5

GET IT!!!This app is very very simple to use! Writing menus for my work is heaps easier as everyone in the kitchen can access the recipes from their phones, pc, iPads the lot so when I'm away I can still get clear and precise recipes to my kitchen staff. The feature of creating a "shopping list" makes things even more easier and the ability to change the yield of each recipe. Perfect app for industry chefs/cooks and even better for the home cook!.Version: 2.3

BravoGet this while it's still free! This is by far the best, most beautiful recipe/grocery list app. The people who are leaving less than perfect scores are most likely people who are never pleased with anything. My jaw kept dropping as I was going through this app at all the tiny details that were included not to mention how smooth and flawless the navigation is. I literally cannot believe this is free. I was astounded at the negative reviews. Fantastic job. Truly incredible. I have no affiliation with the people who created this masterpiece. Please get this and judge for yourself. You will be amazed. Flawless, flawless app. A new standard has been set for these types of apps and with regards to fluidity and beauty for any and all apps. Ok I will stop... GET IT WHILE IT'S STILL FREE!!!!!!!.Version: 2.2

Great ideaAfter going through the process of adding recipes and planning 2 weeks worth of meals, I have a few things to say. I love how easy it is to type or import menus. I also love that you can adjust amounts. It's awesome that you can add things to your shopping list. I have a few suggestions. Is there any way you can have all the recipes loaded at the side when you open the planner? It would be so much easier if you could tap and drop a recipe/menu on whatever day you want and even move it around. It would also be great if you could add items to the shopping list via the planner rather than the recipe. Also, this may be weird, but I would love a column for pricing and a column for which store to by the items at in the shopping list section. 1. I price out my grocery list to make sure I'm staying within my budget. It would be helpful to be able to note prices and have a tally running at the bottom so I can adjust items and amounts if needed. 2. I shop at different stores as well, so it would be really awesome if I could note the store I want to get the item at. Then, when I go to the store, I don't have to sift through the list. It would also be nice to hide or delete items that you have on hand already-- then it wouldn't clutter up the grocery list. I'm just basing these suggestions on what I do by hand when I plan my meals and shopping. Hope some could be taken into consideration!.Version: 2.5

Amazing!Love this - just what I was looking for can type my recipes in on line and they sync perfectly to my iPhone and iPad so I always have a list on me and can browse anytime to see what to have for tea. Brill!!.Version: 1.4

Robyn MooneyBrilliant just what I have been waiting for. Great modern layout, easy to use, great for planning and organising. An amazing app!.Version: 2.2

Easy, nice layoutI have only used the app so far, but find it easy to use and the layout simple and pleasing to the eye. Only problem found is the Categories function - after selecting or creating a category, the DONE button doesn't work on the iPhone (but does on the iPad). Random..Version: 2.8

Need HelpI have been using this app for years (often in a daily basis)and recommend it to others. Just recently I realized the pictures I have saved for each of my recipes are no longer being imported after recipes have synced. I tried logging out and signing back in, uninstalling and reinstalling the app and actually lost all of the pictures (at first only recently added pictures were lost). When I sign in to my online account all recipes and pictures are there, so it is the with app I am experiencing this problem. I have searched for help but there is not anything listed that helps and most of the help suggestions are six or seven years old. I hope the developer can find a way to fix the problem with a new update, since it has been several years since the last one..Version: 2.8

Life hackThis app is great at helping you plan ahead. Once you have added recipes life gets easier and easier to sort out, food wise that is. If you need to stick to a budget you can tailor the meals accordingly. If you need you other half to pick something up, no problem as the app can be on their phone and synchronised so they have the same list. Don't use the same recipe websites, no problem just manually cut and paste or create you own recipe. The only downfall I have found with this is in the shopping list. Would be great if you could add items that you don't cook with e.g. Cleaning products, pet food, hygiene products. I tried to do this with the + and ADD parts on iPhone and iPad but it disappears once you exit the app and doesn't sync. If they remedied this I would be screaming from the rooftops for everyone to get this app..Version: 2.7

Love the app, just needs one little tweakBrilliant app, I love it. I would love to be able to add categories and add my recipes to those such as slow cooker, dieting, breakfast, lunch, dinner etc Ideally I would like to be able to put my recipes in more than one category if relevant e.g dieting and dessert so I could filter on those categories..Version: 2.8

Grate toolThis app is perfect for me as I am a chef it let's me create a menu at home and when I get to work I can give my phone to a waitress to copy on to a specials board. Love the improvement on this update. And it also let's me save my recipes under a different category instead of carrying scraps of paper and notebooks Thanks : ).Version: 2.0

Great appHi just the application, I have been waiting for, it's great to be able to add your own recipes. I found this easy. I have tried many others and they have not been as simple or fast. Thank you I can finally store all my favorite recipes in one place and use my iPhone and iPad when shopping and preparing, making it a breeze..Version: 2.1

Store your recipesTook me ages to find, but this is a great app if you just want your own recipes. I like how it automatically makes shopping lists and puts items into categories..Version: 2.5

ExcellentJust what I needed, can easily copy online recipes into the app, easily add my own and create a meal planner and shopping list from them. Perfect. Loses a star for not being completely Brit friendly! Can we have British weights and measures please to make it a five star app? Edit: would also be useful to have a 'clean up list' option, once you add a recipe, then tick off the stuff you already have, would be nice to be able to get it off the list. And I can't find an option to delete a recipe? If its there, that's fine, but it's not at all obvious... Will check the faqs on the website, but definitely needs to be more of a 'manage recipes/ lists' button somewhere... FURTHER EDIT: can I create a shopping list from the planner? Can't see an option on the planner page... If not, will probably have to find a different meal planning app..Version: 2.3

Almost perfect!I love this app and use it almost everyday. The layout when cooking makes everything so much easier, much easier than reading off blogs and such. I would love to be able to import URLs in the app and not via the website. Thanks!.Version: 2.7

Food cloudAwesome program to keep track of all my recipes and plan meals for the week!.Version: 2.1

As Per Other Review, Solid First PassThis is my first review. I felt the need to write one as there are so few reviews of this new program. This program is fairly simple. But it does what it does pretty well. I looked over the apps available and picked this one. I'm not sorry. I was looking for a program that I could export my 300+ recipes to via a simple import operation. I couldn't find an app to do this. This app, however, has the advantage of a web based version that allows you to enter the recipes on with a sync to your iPad. This process of web entry goes pretty quickly. You don't even need to cut and paste, but a simple highlight and drag works well. I had a couple of questions about the nuts and bolts of 'categories' and other parts of the interface that I could not find the answers to by simple experimentation or the non-existent web-based FAQ file. I emailed the developer on at least three occasions with such questions and got VERY prompt answers. I get a very warm feeling from interacting with them, and suspect that they will keep improving the program. I'd give it a 4 1/2, subtracting 1/2 a star for the lack of good instructions on the website, however that is not possible. So, between 4 and 5 stars, I'll pick 5 because of the extreme willingness of the developer to help and the likelihood of the program's being improved. I don't think $9 is too much, as they do have a website and server to maintain..Version: 1.2

Very Happy :)This app does everything it promises - thank you!! A couple of extras if possible would be: option of pictures with the emailed recipes & the ability to have access to our database of recipes so that we can save them independently, in case we (or someone we are sharing our recipes with!!!) accidentally deletes a favourite..Version: 2.3

Best App everAbsolutely love this app! I'm a chef and it makes sharing recipes and menu ideas with other chefs and friends so easy. Anytime someone asks is they can have the recipe I can email it straight from the app without rewriting or copy and pasting. This app is like carrying all my cook books with me, in my IPad. I also love being able to change the yield of the recipes without having to do all the calculations. I love that its free..Version: 2.3

Great for meal planning!!Love, love this app! Love being able to sync it between my phone & iPad! It's so easy to save my recipes. Only improvement would be an auto fill in the source field so once you've used a website a few times it recognises it. Apart from that-it makes my life easy!! :).Version: 2.7

High potential hereI wanted something to keep my own recipes in. Love it for this! Very clearly set out, easy on the eyes, not busy. Brilliant. It also needs a home page, I felt a bit lost. The shopping list is good, but can I suggest it be made more intuitive? I ticked the items I wanted to shop for but couldn't see how to refresh the list. Overall, I am stoked, it's a great app. I loved how easily my recipe can be put in, and how clearly it presents. Just a few tweaks and you will have an absolute winner here..Version: 2.3

Awesome!I just downloaded this yesterday, and I love it already! It was the only free menu planner I could find which lets me import the recipes I already use, rather than picking from a limited recipe bank. Plus, I have to admit, it has an awesome UI. And you can't beat FREE. :) Feature suggestions for the devs: 1) It would be great if there was an automatic field for calories per serving, like there is for the yield and times fields. Right now I have to type this info in the notes. 2) I'd love to be able to have the option of adding my own "meals" in the planner, rather than just having "Morning," "Mid-Day," and "Evening." I think taking these out and adding a simple "+" button at the top of that panel would be really sweet. Then you could create as many meals and snacks as you wish and name them..Version: 2.3

Fantastic foodie appPepper Plate offers a fantastic way to store your favourite recipes. The recipe cards look really slick. You can import recipes from a range of supported sites like Epicurious and The Pioneer Woman, or enter your own recipes in manually. The ability to define your own categories makes searching for recipes easy. This is exactly what I was looking for. If you want to create your own virtual cookbook, I would highly recommend this over Evernote Food..Version: 2.5

BrilliantSimple and just what I've been looking for . It would be nice to cut and paste the image but not a big deal;love being able to use online and sync to phone..Version: 2.3

Great for your own recipesDespite it not being very well supported I have to say this app (and companion web service) exactly hits the mark. Having tried many paid apps this free service is brilliant for having a shared recipe 'book', shopping list and menu planner in one. My wife and I input or favourite recipes manually, adapting to our tastes and use a shared login to both see what meals we have planned and what food needs buying - great for picking up last minute items as the other person's phone is updated when they open the app. It has some sync niggles (make sure you hit 'done' in the lists) but there's nothing else that even comes close to the simplicity and usefulness of this app. And did I mention there are no Ads either….Version: 2.7

AmazingWhat an amazing app. You can copy the URL of a recipe and paste it into the app then get a shopping list to that recipe. It's going to make me cooking experience more fun by cutting out the boring stuff, like writing lists..Version: 2.1

Just so goodTimers and menus and so easy to navigate and so clear. Truly great. Also syncs my devices so I have all my recipes wherever I am and quick reference for when in the supermarket..Version: 2.5

AmazingThis is an amazing app. What is more it is exactly what I need to store my favourite recipes, selects say three of them for a meal, with a simple click, add the ingredients to a shopping list so i can wander around the supermarket and pick them all up without scabbling around with bits of paper and then missing things. I can categorize by 'mains' or 'starter' or whatever I like eg 'Xmas'; add in a source eg a recipe book or chef. There is only one downside for UK users in that very few web sites for UK or european chefs of programs are listed as supported sites and therefore only 4 stars..Version: 2.7

Categories duplicated... (Update)***Update*** I found out through the Help menu on the website that you can reset the app by logging out and signing back in. Problem solved. Everything works perfectly now. Back to being my fav app again! :) Initially, everything worked great. I love all of the features and it's easy to use. Recently, I started creating categories from the app and when it synced with the website it duplicated every category, so not only did it duplicate the categories, but it also duplicated all of the recipes and to make things worse there are no options to delete a category. Very frustrating. Now when I load the app it won't sync with the website or update. It has just frozen itself. I hope this can be remedied in an update. If not, I will have to switch to a different recipe app..Version: 2.3

Definitely my favorite kitchen app! While there's still a few bugs (especially iPhone app) and a couple improvements, this has still been the best app for me. I tried plenty of shopping apps and only wants ones that I can manage recipes and create shopping lists, but amazingly enough this is the only one that would actually keeps track of what recipes I added to my shopping list! Seems so simple... Couple of suggestions: please fix the iPhone timer and shopping list. Mine keeps crashing on both and a must is that I can use and check off my shopping list on the phone. The second suggestion is to add the ability to link back to the recipes from the shopping list. It shows the recipes there, but would be really nice if I could quickly get to that recipe from there. Overall though, fantastic app!!!.Version: 2.3

Easy to use, minor issuesI am a recipe collector, I have several recipe apps on my iPad and downloaded this one because it will work with iPad, iPhone and the web. This app is quite good, it's very easy to import or add recipes manually. The ability to set up the categories is also a plus--the app also will sort by title, last updated and category. (Although, the ability to delete them would be nice.) The issues I have run into is that the app and the web site don't always sync. I find it takes quite a few tries to get the two to sync (currently, I'm waiting for almost a week's worth of recipes to show up on my iPad and it has been "downloading" for almost an hour. The option of deleting categories would also be useful, in the early days of the sync, the iPad app added a duplicate category and this doesn't show up on the website, so, obviously, something with the sync isn't working..Version: 2.2

Still the bestI have been using Pepperplate for many years - it is one of the most used apps on my iPhone and iPad. The customer service is also fast, friendly and helpful every time. This update resolved layout issues I was seeing on my new iPhone..Version: 3.2.0

Awesome but so slow onlineThis app is great to plan meals on the website then go shopping from your phone and then cook from the iPad in your kitchen but the website is very very slow and clunky and takes forever to load each page. I would pay a bit just to get a better experience there..Version: 2.8

New favourite!Love this app, truly makes meal planning a great deal easier and much more fun. Works very well in combination with the website version, which has a couple of features I haven't found on the app, such as selecting only specific items from an ingredient list to shift onto the shopping list. Adding the bookmarklet to my browser makes it easy to import recipes from a wide range of websites and blogs. Other things are better on the iPad, like categorising recipes. Only complaint is synching does not always work very well, so I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times to get around this. Overall really great and helpful product! Highly recommended..Version: 2.3

Not perfect, but pretty darn goodAs someone that collects a lot of recipes from various places (magazines and papers, websites, etc.) it has been so good to have an app/website to organise all of them and make sure that I don't lose them ever again. The fact that there remain a lot of websites that this app does not support wasn't ever a big issue, as I've found it quite easy to just copy and paste from unsupported sites with minimal fuss. Sure, it requires tapping a few more buttons, but big deal!! Finally an app where I can see all my favourite canapé recipes and plan a menu!.Version: 2.3

Starting to show some cracksI wrote a review of this app years ago when I first downloaded it. I still really like the app, but as there hasn’t been an update in 4+ years, I have a feeling it’s no longer being maintained—and it shows. While it still works perfectly on my iPad (which is running a much older version of iOS), running it on my phone (which runs the latest iOS13 version) is a different story. Bugs have crept in, particularly with the text features (the brackets which indent text), and when I’ve utilise that feature, entire sections of the recipe get ERASED. That’s kind of a big problem. Have the developers given up on this app? It would be a shame if so, because it was great before.... Previous review: I can't think of a single thing wrong with this app. It does exactly what I need it to do (and probably more), is incredibly easy to use, and I love having my recipes so easily accessible. But the reason I'm writing this review is because I recently had the opportunity to contact the developers after a minor issue with my password. They replied immediately, and it was easily the best experience I've had with customer service with any app I've used. Special thanks to Anya, who replied to my message, and made what could have been a frustrating experience a real breeze..Version: 2.8

ExcellentI love this app.. I only just started using it so haven't used it to full potential yet, but man it's so easy. I copy a recipe into it on my computer. Update pepper plate on my iPhone choose a recipe for dinner, click on shopping list and go shopping. So organised. Totally amazing.Version: 2.3

Absolutely awesome!I absolutely love this app and have since convinced more than 6 people to get it. Easy to add recipes even if you need to do it manually. Can then share it, so others can add it to theirs easily. Easy to change the number of serves for a recipes and can add the ingredients based on the different servings to your shopping list. I use this quite often and can be cooking using my iPad at one stage then ticking off my shopping list on my iPhone at another. Supported and synced across multiple platforms and the new bookmark widget for adding recipes from websites is also extremely handy. The style is quite nice as well. There may be a few small bugs, but definitely no show stoppers. Definitely worth getting!.Version: 2.3

Best friend in the kitchenBrilliant app. Ever been on your way home from work and want to make a recipe but can't remember all the ingredients? This app is for you! Add your own recipes or import from recipe websites listed. Create menu plans, shopping lists and cook multiple recipes as once so they all arrive on the dinner table at the same time. I'd love to be able to use these recipes as meals in my fitness pal..Version: 2.7

Amazing recipe appPepper plate is an amazing app for everyday cooking and organisation. It can be accessed both on and off line and is practical for both shopping and cooking with. I love this app! It has recently been updated and the new look and setup is very easy to use and looks wonderful! Worth the download!!! Though it occasionally crashes and not all websites it says are linked with it are..Version: 2.7

Love this digital recipe book!I've been looking for a good way to digitally compile the various recipes I have/try out for quite some time. Pepperplate was definitely the answer! It's very easy to use and I can access my recipes on my iPhone, Windows 8 computer, and iPad, as well as online. My favorite pluses: you can share recipes with other users, it's easy to order and organize eclipses, you can include photos and custom notes. Sometimes there are issues with photos loading or being able to import recipes through the app itself, but these are easily trouble shouted by logging in online. Although I haven't explored the planning features of this platform, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a user-friendly way to archive and use recipes. Can't wait to see what developments they come out with in the future!.Version: 2.7

Nearly Perfect! This is the App that I have been waiting for. I didn't want an app cluttered with tons of other recipes I wasn't interested in using. I wanted an app to store my tried and true best recipes. And I wanted an app that made it easy to enter the recipes and access the recipes. This one does that. This app seemlessly syncs between my iphone, ipad, and the website that I access via my desktop. I've spent the last few days entering my favorite recipes using the website. This is a great feature because it is so much easier to use a traditional computer than the ipad for typing lengthy instructions (but you can also enter recipes via the ipad). As soon as I typed the recipe in, it synced with my ipad and iphone. Now, I have access to my recipes via my ipad in the kitchen and my iphone which is great for last minute ideas while grocery shopping. A few minor improvements such as grocery list syncing with Grocery IQ (admittedly a personal preference) and correcting a quirk in adding categories in the online site, would make it unquestionably perfect for me..Version: 2.2

Great Menu and recipe appI love it! I can copy recipes and put them in my recipe box, translate them. Terrific. The only downside is they should keep calendar and menu planner in sync. If you did an Easter week menu for example in 2022, you should access it to use it again. To be able to to not only save menus but in a calendar..Version: 3.2.0

Great app for storing recipes, menu planning and shoppingI have been looking for a simple app that I can store all my recipes so that I can easily access them while out shopping and for use at home (who still uses books? Not me, I much prefer my phone or ipad), but also do a weekly menu plan and shopping list. This app does that all simply and easily. You can scale recipes which is handy. I would highly recommend it..Version: 2.5

Great toolI use this app to store my recipes, cook, and plan meals for the week. Great UI and simple to use. Only real problem I've encountered is that you can't delete recipes or planner entries. I put a meal in for the wrong day and couldn't remove it. Would like to see a fix for that, hence the 4 stars but other than that it's a really useful app!.Version: 2.2

Impressive app, though i'd love a few improvementsThis app is very impressive, to me it seems to have pretty much all the functionality i could want as far as recording and using recipes. I would love the shopping list to be a little more user-friendly though. I add other items to this manually (as, realistically, you can only really use one shopping list app at a time) but it would be helpful if it would remember custom items and their categories so i didnt have to repeatedly reset them..Version: 2.7

Great but...I very much like this app. Especially the "Cook Now" feature. Showing all the recipes for the meal and timers for each is a great feature and now I can't live without it and have switched to this app. It's only getting a Good rating because it does seem to crash a lot both on my iPad 2 and my iPhone 4S. Especially since the iOS 5.1 update. Also, I've had issues where you add recipes to the planner that you have changed the scale and one minute it shows it scaled and the next it doesn't. There still seem to be several bugs to work out. One feature I would like to see added is the ability to scale the recipe while in the Planner. I often have the number of guests changing and the only way I've found to update it is to delete the recipe from the planner and to add it again with the new scale. My only other suggestion is to have a dedicated support page/knowledge base. The FAQ's are great but sometime you need more. Thanks for a good product. I hope to see it become great soon!.Version: 2.2

Pretty good, one bug very frustrating.App does everything it claims to, is easy to use and integrates with the website well. However, the app seems to delete my categories as I add them, which is quite frustrating. Would also like to see more features such as somewhere to store what items I have in my pantry, to easily sync with shopping lists, and more supported sites for recipe imports.Version: 2.8

Helpful kitchen tool, but could use some retoolingI have been using this app now for nearly a year, after the recommendation from a friend. It has certainly simplified my recipe collection and been a much better tool to keep me organized over using Pinterest. I love that I can import recipes, make my own modifications, and add personalized photos. One of my favourite features is being able to see the entire month at a glance on my desktop. I just wish that this feature was also available on the iPad version. Also, when I view the entire month, only the first through the ninth date are visible. I have contacted the company couple of times about this issue, and they promised they will fix it, but so far they have not. Another review were also commented that the filter feature doesn't seem to work very well. This is also my experience. I often search for a particular recipe using a specific word, and the search tool yields no results. This is quite frustrating. Another improvement that could be made is to the menu feature. When I search for a particular menu I can never seem to find it using the search tool. I have to scroll through the entire five pages of menus I have created. There doesn't seem to be a way to filter them by date or title. It only defaults to most recent. Overall, I give it four stars because it has been a helpful tool in my kitchen. I really like having all of my regular recipes at my fingertips on my iPad. But it could certainly use with an update..Version: 2.8

BrilliantHave this on my iPhone and iPad. Great having my favourite recipes in one place! Layout is really clean and easy to read. For the person having trouble deleting stuff, just swipe the title in list view. Keep up the good work!.Version: 2.2

Just what I've been looking forGreat meal planner! I like that I can import recipes that I find on my favorite recipe sites, instead of having to retype them. I like that I can type in my own recipes. I especially like not having to write a whole recipe (who needs a recipe for store-bought cereal), but still being able to add a dish to a meal planner, by just typing a name. It can still use a couple of tweaks, like having an option to customize the number of meals (at the moment it has 3 meals a day, but no way to add another, which is useful, especially when you have kids). Waiting for another update..Version: 2.0

Looks beautiful, great idea, works for meThe one star reviews are totally missing the point. I don't *want* to laboriously peck out recipes on my phone or iPad. I want to bash them in quickly on a proper computer. Do that with Pepperplate, and then not only to you have access to them in a great-looking app, but they're up there on the web, too - so you don't even need any of your own devices to consult them! If you really want to hack your recipes in using an iOS keyboard, you can log into the site and to it that way… [and with recent updates to the app, you can add recipes from iOS, anyway]. Both apps are clear, attractive and to the point - not wasting time and space on allowing you to do things like rate recipes or upload pictures (I know what food looks like, and unless I rate the recipe highly, why would I bother typing it in???) and the sync system works extremely well. If you're on a Mac you can use Fluid to generate a site-specific browser app for the site too... It's a great all-round solution, taking into account what people actually need. For my money, easily the best recipe app available..Version: 2.3

IOS 9 issuesThis is a great app and has been very useful. Only problem is now I have upgraded to iOS 9 it has stopped working and will not load at all. I cannot access my recipes at all now. Hopefully it will just be a catching up issue as it is a very good app..Version: 2.7

Absolutely the Best!I ran across this app while planning a destination wedding catering event. I needed to have a great plan and a way to consolidate the entire three days of menus plus a precise list of every ingredient needed. The last thing I wanted was to travel 300 miles and not be totally prepared... I was spot on with every dish and everything went off beautifully. Cooking a recipe or several with the multiple timers is a real life saver in a crunch with a zillion things going on I can rely on getting notification at the right time! I owe Pepperplate a huge thank you for such a well thought out app. The new web interface is incredible! Lots of new features and recipe sources to import from plus the manual recipe builder seems much more intuitive. I absolutely love the search feature and hoe very organized my recipes are now. Thanks Pepperplate! Keep up the great work I love this app..Version: 1.4

Solid first passThere are a few things this app is missing for me personally so I'm keeping it at 4 stars, and haven't yet moved all my recipes over from my existing management system. But from hearing what the company has coming up in future updates I think I could make the switch soon (hopefully). What I love about the app are the great UI features like the dragger to hold your place in a recipe, the ability to assign multiple categories, and dashboard/panel to watch all the timers. The sister iphone app that syncs your timers is also very cool. My primary issues are data management - I would like to be able to add/edit/delete/manage my recipes within the app and not just via the website, and I'd generally like to have access to all features available across all the platforms (web, iphone, ipad) so that each app wasn't for such a specific/distinct purpose. A nitpicky thing is that the iphone app is another buck - not a huge deal, but it would just make me happier if the two apps were more of a combined universal app that included the timer syncing as a specific additional iphone functionality. The company has been extremely responsive to suggestions and have spelled out a brief roadmap of upcoming features, so it sounds promising for the future..Version: 1.2

Fantastic AppFantastic application, everything it promises to be, intuitive and so easy to use, love it. Would not even know it connects with a server..Version: 2.3

Great appI'm really happy with this app. Easy to use and great to be able to access the recipes from the website as well. Makes sharing favourite recipes really simple. Developers really helpful too..Version: 2.2

Has potential to be awesome- not yetI did a test of a few different Meal Planner type services: PepperPlate, Plan to Eat and Meal Board. I'm sticking with Pepperplate. I wish it had a tad more bells and whistles- which I liked from Meal Board- the ability to email/print the Meal Plan as well as the shopping list. I know I can share/email/print recipes, but PP developers take it a step further please. I hate walking around the grocery store with my phone in my hand looking at my list. I am old-skool. Plus, it would be nice to be able to email it to my husband so he could run to the store. And we could print the meal plan and put it on the fridge. Recipe adding was a cinch- both from the import and manual add. I hope the developers continue to add supported sites to import. I'm glad there is a free form way to add items to the menu that are not recipes and the same goes for the grocery list. I also appreciate the ability to edit the grocery list...some of the ways the shopping list combines ingredients are odd, but I get it why it happens..Version: 2.7

Ideal recipe storage/sharing appWe've found Pepperplate invaluable for managing our recipes, which were previously scattered across browser bookmarks and hardcopy notes. We share a single account across 1x iPad and 2x iPhones, so we always have our recipe collection with us wherever we go. The shopping list function makes grocery shopping for our recipes a breeze, as we can set up a shopping list on the iPad and grab an iPhone to go to the shops with. Have not tried yet but seems to support using iPhones as timers that can be controlled on the iPad. Very easy to share beautifully formatted recipes by email and social media, or bring across between pepper plate accounts. An app we could not live without now, and at far greater quality than most free apps. Only drawback we have found is a lack of support for metric measurements, but this just means they don't get nicely formatted as the imperial or spoon/cup measurements do. If you are looking for a recipe management app without any built in recipes then look no further. The device support/sharing is top notch!.Version: 2.1

Best recipe management app out there!I feel like I have tried them all but keep on coming back to Pepperplate as my number one app to gather recipes. I would pay for this!.Version: 2.8

Very helpfulI’ve been using this app for at least 5 years now and while I really like it for the most part, I am continually frustrated that you can’t click on a recipe in the menu option. It just shows you a list of recipe titles that you’ve saved to that menu but to access them you have to go back into recipes and find them alphabetically. Not a smooth feature. Especially annoying now that this is subscription-based..Version: 3.1.7

Don't like the new planner formatI love peppperplate and have been using it for a year now. I was so pleased to see the update as it has been a long time coming. Whilst most of the updates are welcome I really do t like the planner now as you can it view a day at a time. Please can future updates change the planner back. Otherwise I still love this app!.Version: 2.5

Simple, convenient, good-looking and freeThis just what I was looking for and its great that it synchronises with the web version; makes putting your own recipes in easier. For those who have issues with it not having metric measurements - the symbols for 'lbs' 'cups' and fractions are only there as shortcuts; you can still type in grammes, 'mm' or whatever you want for the ingredients using the keyboard and it will work..Version: 2.3

Love this app!I spent ALOT of time hunting for an app or website that would allow me to essentially create my own virtual cookbook with both my recipes and those I've found online, etc. This one is by far the best I've found. LOVE the built-in buttons for measurements and the menu planning feature. I would suggest adding the ability to delete a recipe, seems like a simple feature that is missing. Also, for some strange reason, it chose one recipe I added and duplicated it like 20 times! So....would be nice to be able to delete those strange duplications. Another option I would suggest is for the search engine to search the entire recipes, not just the titles. That way, you can search for recipes that contain an ingredient you need to use. All in all, a wonderful app!!.Version: 2.2

Love itI love this app. I have used it for months and keep bringing more recipes in. My husband likes that he can check our menu planner from his phone or the website. I believe we save money on our shopping as we only get what we need at the store and I never worry about missing an ingredient at the last minute. I tell all my friends to get this app, I would give more than five stars if they would let me. As a mom with two little kids, a full time job, a husband with work and school and trying to keep healthy food in front of people, this app let's me do it. The hardest part is loading in all your tried and true recipes at the beginning. Once that is done, welcome to the ease of planning meals and removing the last minute question of what's for dinner..Version: 2.3

Great but 1 glitchThis is an amazing app and it's so easy to create and store my recipes, also it all looks great. However, for some reason, it randomly deletes the pictures I have saved into recipes and it deleted my favourite picture of a cake that I had decorated and I was unable to get that picture back. PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP, then this would definitely be a five star app..Version: 2.7

Best app for recipes for meI love this app for: - Its simplicity and clutter free lay out - I can to add the recipes I want to keep from many different sources like I would into a binder or a recipe book - the app is not cluttered with other recipes from random sources that I will not use or care to know about - I am able to create a menu for a day or selectable days from recipes saved and see the corresponding shopping list - Can access from multiple devices. Keeps local copy, i.e. no internet needed to access a recipe on my phone Thank you!.Version: 2.8

SOOOO much better than a recipe card collection!!I have looked for the perfect app recipe app for years & have finally found it!! Pepperplate makes it super simple to add recipes on the website and on the iPad also. I haven't used the meal planner yet, but having the ability to read and use the recipes on the iPad without worrying about the card, printout or cookbook flipping over or getting lost is SOOO wonderful. The only things that I have noticed that can be improved is 1) the ability to add an image while adding a recipe on the iPad, this part is skipped right over & I always have to save my progress, go back into the recipe and then add the image. 2) I hate having to wait for the app to finish syncing in the middle of adding a recipe while on the iPad, any progress or changes that I make will be lost once the sync starts..Version: 2.2

Thank goodnessThis is one of the best recipe, meal planner and shopping list app I've seen. It's easy to use, and can sync it with the phone, so you always have it on you. Great support as well. Thank you..Version: 2.3

It’s my cookbook setI’ve used Pepperplate since it was first available. I have a wide variety of recipes from innumerable sources - lots from family members passed down from at least four generations. I also maintain a recipe collecting website, only for special recipes that we’ve found to be favorites. In Pepperplate, I keep recipes I’m going to make, someday, too. Need to size them up, or down, create menus, or shopping lists? This will help you. As a software tester, I can promise you this app is well written and user friendly. So much so that I didn’t mind it when it started costing to use it. I’ve been in so many situations where I could pick up my phone and share a great recipe with a friend. Make suggestions to the programmers - even great apps can be better..Version: 3.2.0

Fantastic appPepperplate has been invaluable to me for keeping old recipes and new. I love it..Version: 3.2.0

Great plannerThis app does a great job of sorting out menus for the week or month. It syncs without problems and with the shopping list eliminates waste. It is easy to copy recipes from unsupported sites via the bookmark addition found on the website. It would be nice to move planned dishes around in the planner by drag and drop rather than having to delete and re-insert. Also it would be better to have the scaled recipe added to the planner rather than the full one. And the icing on the cake would be a synch with My Fitness Pal to enable a calorie count. All in all well worth getting..Version: 2.7

Can't fault it 😀I love this app, it's so easy to use and I use it on my iPhone and iPad with no sync issues. It does everything I need, from storing recipes to generating a shopping list. Definitely recommend.Version: 2.8

Wow this is impressiveIt lets you copy and paste recipes in then lets you scale the down to 1 person if required. Super impressed!!!.Version: 2.8

Love this app, but…I’ve been using Pepperplate for about 6 years now. Got it when my daughter moved out on her own. Gave her the ability to scale down our family sized recipes easily. But, why doesn’t the app allow Freescale like the website does? Highly recommend this update..Version: 3.2.0

Has helped me get organized!I'm far from an organized person but the chaos of live has prompted a change towards organization. The first place to start was meal planning, mainly dinner. Getting recipes was as simple as copying the web address and pasting it to pepperplate. Recipes can be organized into categories as well (breakfast, lunch, dinner etc). There is a shopping list function which also you to add a recipes ingredients; this is where i run into a problem. You should be able to select the recipe's ingredients that need to be added rather than all the ingredients going in. Often you will have some of these ingredients as a staple so you don't need to buy each time you prepare the recipe. Otherwise, the planner is great to work with. When you are in a recipe you have the ability to add to any day on the planner or you can manually type items into the planner. It is wonderful for everyone to know what to expect for dinner and not have to go to the supermarket daily. Developers - kindly make adjustments to the shopping list category as described and this will be a 5+ star rated app!.Version: 2.2
