Luminos for Positive User Reviews

Excellent program!Luminos is one of my go to astronomy programs. It has a simple interface, nice presentation and is very easy to use. I really like the ability to download multiple catalogs and get extensive data about celestial objects. Would recommend..Version: 9.4

LuminosIf your looking for light entertainment another app might be more suitable but if your serious about learning or are a professional this is a great app, it takes some learning to use all the features but a very well done app, unfortunately I don’t have a telescope so I cannot take advantage of all it has to offer. At a quick glance I might have erroneously jump to conclusions and may have mistakenly thought it was not a worthwhile app but I would have been sadly mistaken, I am glad I did not jump to conclusion and I am slowly discovering how excellent this app is, very nicely done, thanks..Version: 9.3.3

5+Awesome app to use. New update is very friendly. Fun to play with during the day & gets down to business at night..Version: 8.0

Love this app!Don’t think twice, I know it seems like a bit of an expense however, as a novice star gazer that doesn’t understand its full functioning, it’s still so worth it. I only wish is I can buy it and send it as a gift to others, I love this app!.Version: 9.9.7

Beyond great--celestialThe amount of information clearly presented and cleanly accessible is dumfounding. But this is is no knowledge avalanche. The more you want the more you get, the less you want, the less you get. It's clean. The breadth astonishes and delights me. For example, there's a bright star in Scorpius, theta, whose name, Girtab, Luminos casually lets you know is from . . . Sumerian! And it just means "scorpion." But, Luminos, adds, it has another name, Sargas, also from Sumerian--and no one knows what Sargas means. It's like being out on a dead clear night with a great astronomer. Who knows it all, loves it all, and finds it all fascinating, down to the tiniest little star-wart. But who tells you only what might interest you and only what you're likely to understand. I see that the developers have (unsurprisingly, considering their app's riches) the great good sense to let me Edit Review. Which, as use continues and knowledge (I do hope) grows, I plan to continue to do..Version: 9.5.1

PerfectSimply stunning can't fault any thing about it having used computer astro programmes for 10+ years.Version: 7.3.2

....Awesome... My 4year old loves learning with me... Worth the download....Version: 5.1

Super App!!Great App with lots of Details & Info,Awesome precision of Planets,Stars,Galaxies,Satellites!! A must have for the Amateur or Pro Astronomer!!.Version: 9.2.1

The app rockIt just works.Version: 9.9.12

Just “WOW”The universe in ones hands. Some info on exo-planets would be great but otherwise pretty darned inclusive..Version: 9.5.2

Excellent applicationThis application is an absolute pleasure to use, with so much information right there at your finger-tips. The author should be proud of his work. I am sold on it and will be recommending it as one of, if not the, best astronomy programmes available and totally suitable for enthusiast and beginner alike..Version: 6.2

Really good app.Well done guys, very good app. Highly recommended. Thanks..Version: 9.4.1

Great App again thank youEverything super great with this app, but was thinking if you guys can add just very small update on it with backround mesmerizing space music🎶 some kind of evolving pads wouldve make app more greater.Version: 9.3

A fantastic app I’d pay for again.Probably one of the best apps on the market for popular astronomy. On my iPhone and iPad, it’s an invaluable tool for planning observations, as well as field use. I’d love to see it ported to Mac and PC as I prefer to use mine to control my telescope and camera, and documenting my observations..Version: 9.6.1

Fantastic tool! This application is so powerful. As an amateur I am able to view, track and monitor celestial object I could only dream about a few short years ago..Version: 9.5

Best Astronomy AppThis app has helped me learn so much and reignite a curiosity about the stars and cosmos with me. Thankful for the awesome developer that is always pushing updates and is responsive to the community..Version: 9.9.7

LuminosThis must be the best app on the market you don't need any other astronomic apps as this one does it all eg from stars to the ISS Luminos has it all I would recommend to anyone..Version: 7.3.2

Very incredible mobile planetariumThis is a awesome way to explore our universe it’s packed with lots of things to both see and explore great job to the developers please keep improving.Version: 9.3.4

The best star map out thereA fantastic app works very well, definitely the best of the best in astronomy apps.Version: 9.8.1

Amazing detailLuminos is the kind digital orrery I dreamed of having as a child before the advent of devices like the iPad. This app is awesome for viewing stars, nebulae, and other deep space objects. It really shines if what you want is a nice look around our own solar system. Orbit any planet or moon and view surface features in detail. Surface texture quality is good and most planetoids have label data for major geological features. Datasets provided by the Minor Planet Center and celestrak can be downloaded and updated automatically. This is a great feature if you’re curious about minor objects (man-made satellites, asteroids, comets, &c). The interface quality is great and view settings can be tuned with detail to match your individual preferences. Automatic updates for catalog data is a very nice feature!.Version: 9.2.3

Absolutely Brilliant!I’m a complete novice when it comes to Astronomy. However, since purchasing this app a week ago, I have learnt so much and I believe I have found a new interest which I intend to pursue. It’s certainly the best £29 I have spent!.Version: 9.9.12

The BEST Astronomy app on iPad bar noneI have tried most all the other apps but this is the best of them all..Version: 9.5.2

Brilliant - all you need and moreI can't stop using this app', it's truly stunning..Version: 6.2

Learning Very cool appWay cool lots and lots lots of information.Version: 9.2.5

Much more than just a "reference"This is just crazy! The amount of hard work and detail that is put into this app is incredible! I am a space nerd myself, and when I read about mercury, I was simply blown away by the amount of information there was! I learned that on November 11th, (8 days from my birthday) that I might be able to see a transit, where mercury passes by the sun. I am very exited about this app and can't wait to learn (A LOT) more. I am going to end this with a quote: "So much space, so little time...".Version: 9.5.2

StonyGreat app easy to use everything you need in a astronomy app well worth it.Version: 6.1

Love starsI absolutely love it.Version: 9.3

Out of this World.Great all round Astronomy app. Covers a multitude of various Stella objects. Nice user interface. Lots of information associated with selected object. Keep up the good work. Thanks..Version: 9.3.4

I've used a lot of them and this is the best for iOSLearned about this app through the six colors space podcast Liftoff. It has one of the easiest user experiences to plan an evening of stargazing. I especially love the satellite tracking and notifications..Version: 9.2.1

JaneinorbitAmazing app. So informative. Addictive, so much to learn. Love it..Version: 9.2.1

Best astronomy app aroundHave downloaded 15+ astronomy related apps. This is by far my preferred one. Lots of features. Great search facilities. Easy to use. Plenty of options to tweak the display. Loads of information. An amateur astronomer ... in the making!.Version: 7.3.1

LuminosJust incredible! It’s been years since I’ve been involved with astronomy and got SkyView app for my iPhone because it is so simple and enjoyable and will jump start you ! but I wanted more than point and look so to speak don’t get me wrong it’s a keeper but this luminos app goes into such a dimension that you feel like you are being an astronomer you can’t beat the $25 fun entertainment!.Version: 9.9.3

Amazing!!!I recommend this app to anyone who even has a slight interest in astronomy. This is only app that does everything all in one. You don't have to buy several apps to look at planets or constellations. I extremely recommend you buy this app!!?.Version: 7.2

Good App overallUpdate: Thanks to John for the informative response to my comments. To me it’s worth another star (if I could give it) when developers take the trouble to respond. Shows they care about their products and their users. Great App. —————— Once you find your way around the sometimes confusing navigation you can find a wealth of information. It's a bit like an adventure game sometimes trying to find things. My only two issues are firstly, when I open the App it always points to the west. I wish it had the option to open up pointing south. Opening using your own preferences would be great. Secondly, the App is supposed to represent the night sky which it does apart from the Moon which, unless you zoom well in, it always appears as what looks like a large fuzzy star. No surface details show. When I look at the Moon I always see a disk with surface details. Overall though, very good astronomy app..Version: 9.8.2

Difficult to useIt looks great. However, i do not know how to use it with my equipments. It would be great if the app gives some guides. I still wonder whether this app is suitable for a deep space photographer. I still need some time to learn..Version: 9.2.3

The universe in your hand. This app, Luminos, is absolutely amazing to me in how thorough it is for those interested in astronomy. I am not affiliated with the developer in any way and am just a retiree with a nice telescope and a passion for stargazing. But I am so satisfied with the quality and user-friendliness of Luminos that I felt compelled to let others know that it is well worth every penny of the cost. I have had planetarium software on my desktop before but Luminos out shines them all and provides the convenience of a handheld app. From my armchair I can plan the evenings stargazing targets, check to see where and when my favorite targets will be in my limited view like the planets, space station, Messier galaxies, and meteor showers. The more that I use the app, the more I find to see..Version: 9.9.5

Beautiful app, but can't control my iOptron mountI'm a bit of a sucker for astronomy apps, so when Luminos sponsored a podcast I occasionally listen to, I checked it out. It is a beautiful app and obviously a labor of love, and easily worth the asking price (and more!). The only issue I have is that, while it appears to have all the necessary settings to control my iOptron SmartEQ Pro mount (via the iOptron StarFi adapter), it always says that it didn't get a response from the mount after connecting. The same settings work fine on the "big name" astronomy app, so I'm not sure why it fails with Luminos..Version: 9.2.1

The best!I have a few astronomy apps like star walk and sky safari etc... And this one blows them out of the water! This is like "the mother" of the astronomy apps, with data that updates by the second, lots of info, it's amazing. Im just overwhelmed by it all. Even allows you to land on another planet and view the stars from that planet!! Wow impressive and breathtaking. The Star walk app is aesthetically more beautiful, and has a better atmosphere, but this Luminos app is more serious and filled with features and information. Love it!.Version: 4.5

Unbelievable. Amazing. Great...!!!!!This app is beyond beautiful. These guys really have done the job compared to the apps out there, this is the best yet keep it up astronomers.Version: 7.3.2

Nice app with some problemsFirst thank you to wobbleworks for producing a great app that looks great on my iPad but I ran into a few problems. Crashes, I’ve had at least four in the first day. Mostly freezes, one resulting in me having to restart the iPad and an outright crash to Home Screen. They occur when changing orientation or switching between apps. A few niggles, when I travel to a moon or wherever I cannot see my current location, it should really be displayed on the screen, I apologise if I haven’t found this setting. When viewing an eclipse from orbit or the moon I cannot see the shadow on the Earth, again sorry if I’ve missed this setting. A few improvements, I’m more of an armchair astronomer and simulating conjunctions, transits and occultations, especially historical ones is interesting, a separate panel listing these like the eclipse panel would be useful. Because of the crashes I’ve had to ask for a refund. iPad Air 4, 14.5.1.Version: 9.9.6

MesmerisingThe more you use this app, the more you realise it has to offer. Simply wonderful, thank you..Version: 8.3.1

BeautifulAn exceptional app! Beautifully executed and packed with features. It's a bit of a learning curve for the astronomy novice, but worth the purchase to grow in to. For the avid skywatcher, it is a necessity. Highly recommend..Version: 6.2

Let luminos light up your skyFantastic software i would recommend it to anyone. I have bought a few star gazing and planetarium app's but luminos beats them all. Why have loads of app's tracking stars,Satellites, Planets and Etc when luminos does all this and more. Thank's wobbleworks.Version: 5.2

The most Incredible astronomy AppI suspected as soon as I first opened this App that it was in a class of its own, as it correctly detected my location. Every other Astronomy App that I have used has required manual Location entry. I only wish that I had found Luminos 6 months ago....it would have saved me time, hassle and money. I have only just started to put it through its paces, but I am totally impressed with every aspect of this first class software. I shouldn't really say this but it would have been value at twice the price! No hesitation whatsoever in recommending this App..Version: 9.0.1

LuminosHi there. I am an ameteur journeyman astronomer, and a user of several apps on my phone to learn the night sky! Often I thought that it was me, after all it couldn’t be the app could it, so confusing finding the stars in the night, to compare them to the image on the iPad and therefore, to learn about said stars. Then,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,along came Luminos ,,,,,,,,well, sometimes,,,,,,,,, you DO get what you pay for! The moment that I opened up Luminos, and raised my iPad to the night sky,,,,,,,,,,I chuckled out loud, the sky was absolutely in-sink with my iPad, WOW, that’s an outstanding application!, six apps later! If you are at all curious about the wonders of the night sky, do not hesitate, purchase luminos! Objects so easy to find! So easy to compare,in the night sky, so easy to learn! You will be a student of the cosmos from the very first breathe you hold!.Version: 9.9.7

Luminos is luminous!!A brilliant astronomy app that is finally getting recognised for its power, flexibility and ease of use. Fantastic range of features that will now be even better with this latest upgrade!.Version: 7.3

Quenches all my appetite for astronomyAmazing app, Never imagined so much information could be made available to amateur astronomers from beginners to the most advanced, This app is fun especially with a telescope. It is enjoyable and loaded with data to keep you busy for a lifetime..Version: 9.9.7

Useful in everyday lifeI would see bright objects in the sky and wonder what they were. After getting this app I don’t need to do that anymore. This is the best star app I’ve seen so far. Awesome even if you’re not into star watching..Version: 9.7.1

ExcellentLovely app, finding it hard to put down!! So interesting and informative and well worth the cost..Version: 8.3.1

I love itI'm only an amateur star gazer but this helps identify all the stars I can see. Fantastic, more features than you can poke a stick at. This version is a huge upgrade. Recommended..Version: 8.2.1

Best Astro app so farOnly had it for a day, so still learning my way around, but from what I can see, it’s the best Astro app I’ve used. Easy to navigate, tons of content, lots of features, and very well executed. Highly recommended..Version: 9.7.1

ExcellentEasy to learn & use. Worth the cost especially considering the frequent (and unobtrusive) updates. As a photographer, extremely useful to plan sun positions (planning specific shots & positions)..Version: 9.9.7

The very best sky appI tried all of the fancy apps and they are all complicated and cluttered. This app is packed with features, consistently updated and is easy to use. Would buy again. Also they sponsor Liftoff podcast which I like to listen to..Version: 9.2.1

ExcellentEasy to use for all levels. Educative, beautifully crafted, opens up the field of astronomy with a complete set of information that satisfies most needs. I am very pleased with the purchase.Version: 9.2.5

This is a well crafted app I love it.Simply the best astronomy app out there. Also constantly updated. Thanks.Version: 9.9.6

WOW Mind BlowingThe title says it all. I have had a few maps of the heavens in the past, but none compared to this app. As I am also interested in satellites I have needed to get a separate app. All I have to do now is to talk the wife into a new telscope..Version: 7.3.2

Best astronomy app I've foundAfter buying my first telescope, celestron c6 sgt, this app has been invaluable in helping align my scope to named stars, and also work out which time to set up to get the best visibility of planets..Version: 6.2

Excellent app can't think of any improvementsTop notch.Version: 6.2

Simply the bestThis is one of the best apps for Astronomy on the App Store. The amount of detail and functionality in this app is to be applauded. It is more expensive than the competition, but it is much more refined with a lot of detail on deep space objects, solar system planets, satellite tracking. It is optimised for iPhone, iPad, and the Apple Watch. I’ve found night mode to be really useful when using outside on my iPhone with my telescope. I love that you just point it up to the sky and then to object of interest and all info you need is there in front of you - tap the screen and you can then move the phone while maintaining the view. You can spend hours exploring space in this app. I don’t mind paying a lot for a good quality app like this. Well done to the development team and keep up the good work..Version: 9.6.3

Best Darn AppNicely Done , its nice to see integrity put bck into a app , no disappointment here . Way to go !!!.Version: 9.5

Great app and one of the best availableLove the constant updates and improvements which have made it my go to astronomy app. From the great layouts to the awesome graphics and the overall ease of use, this app just oozes quality. The last thing to mention, there are no in app purchases which I think most people appreciate, thank you devs !!.Version: 9.8

Delete, Delete, DeleteA few days after downloading this app, I sat at my iPad and deleted several apps that I had been utilizing for years. This app replaced them all and for less money than the others combined..Version: 9.2.4

Awesome appOf all my many astronomy apps across PC, Mac and IOS this is by far my favourite!!.Version: 7.3

SoperbThis is a wonderful app, comprehensive, easy to use, truly well implemented, and runs well even on an old iPad. Search for NGC 1672 in other "Pro" iPhone or iPad astronomy apps, zoom in, and... nothing! But Luminos shows you the galaxy and provides plenty of data as well. The "Tonight" planner is well done providing the results in a graphical form, sorting entries by time of night or magnitude. Of course you can select any date from a calendar. There is a wealth of information thoughtfully provided. For example, if a selected object is below the horizon, a message appears indicating how long before the object will rise above the horizon. There are so many great features. This app is a labor of love, and it shows! BTW, questions are quickly answered by the developers..Version: 9.6.1

Solar. wind sun what solar systemSolar system.Version: 9.7

The Best APP in the storeMany years in Astronomy hobby, learning from books and fellow the Carl Sagan with series Cosmos, this is only you need to easily understand the how big is it, the space the only thing I found is the app don’t communicate with SkyQlink wifi, Celestron 4/5SE, brilliant app, highly recommend..Version: 9.9

Better than the restThe smoothest, most detailed, easiest to use space app I've found. I reckon if I had a spaceship I could probably just use my iPad and this app to navigate around the galaxy. Well done..Version: 6.2

What happened? You finally did it. The last upgrade ruined what a great app. It doesn’t work anymore..Version: 9.9.2

Amazing appOne of the best astronomy apps on the App Store, if not the best. So full of features it takes hours just to try the all!.Version: 8.1

Simply Stunning! This app doesn't seem to be that well known, but it is simply stunning and puts most desktop apps to shame. I personally like the fact that you can tailor the view to be a very realistic representation of what you can actually see, without going overboard on such things as the Milky Way. The other great feature is the eyepiece simulator, perfect for picking the right combination for an observing session. The fact you can fly around in a gorgeously rendered environment is a great bonus too. Highly recomended!.Version: 7.3.2

LuminosGood app but freezes every so often on my XR. Shouldn’t be doing that I think. Not in a great phone like that.🤔 (getting more use to it. overall ok. :). ).Version: 9.6.3

Very good indeedNo astronomy app does everything but this goes very close. What is more it is fun to use and the display excellent. Highly recommended even as a supplement to other astro apps..Version: 6.2

Great appLots of information for any level of astronomy. I would love to see an observation forecast showing what viewing conditions you can expect in your location based on weather conditions, atmospherics, local light pollution data, and the instrument you are using. If it had this it would get 5 stars..Version: 9.3

Best astronomy appI have downloaded several apps and keep going back to this one..Version: 7.3.1

Such a detailed app!I’m an astronomer and i use this app every time i go out, it’s incredibly detailed and helps me so much. Even though it costs a fair bit, it’s 100% worth it. Amazing..Version: 9.5

Great AppHad this app for as long as I can remember. I use for causal observation, and is one reason I bought a telescope. I was a little disappointed right after I bought the scope as the ecliptic was backward and the tile was off but deleted and reinstalled works great again..Version: 9.9.12

Out of this worldSince I was a child I've been captivated by the sky, stars and comets, and planets. This app is simply amazing. More than a guide for recognising objects in the night sky, it has opened my mind by taking me into space itself. In this virtual space flight, it is possible to experience and conceptualise where we float in the universe. What a humbling thing that is, and it has changed for me, how I think of life here on earth..Version: 9.0

Comprehensive, adaptable and intuitiveHaving spent an hour or so digging through this app I'm impressed. It seems able to do everything I want of it and more. The settings let me turn stars on or off, the optional (and free) extra star catalogue takes the number of stars displayed above 2.5 million which is enough for most of us! The whole app feels well designed and executed. For the price it is an absolute steal. I just need to move to somewhere with less light pollution now so I can see more stars :-).Version: 5.1

Binoculars decimal FOVGreat product, and thank you for adding binoculars to the equipment list. There is one small problem - it is not possible to add decimal degrees to the binoculars field of view. Only whole numbers can be entered. I expect that this is an oversight and it would great if it can be corrected.Version: 9.9

Absolutely worth every pennyWhat an amazing astronomy app, love how well the graphics and the informations are brought together, clearly a lot of effort has been put into creating it..Version: 9.8.5

Stunning! This is the not just the best astro app (and I have installed a few), its the best app I've used in general. The UI is flawless and a joy to use. Everything is configurable including touches which may seem innocuous at first like brightness of various grid lines or constellation boundaries etc but all ensure one can tailor the whole experience perfectly. Search is natural, the textures awesome, the response flawless, a real joy to use especially in tandem with a real night out under the stars in night vision mode. Motion tracking is spot on once the figure8 setup is done prior. An easy 5 star app I'd advise anyone looking for an astro app to download without hesitation. It's the only one you'll need. 2 small requests for the next update.. - make the keypad that appears during search in night vision mode be in red hue itself. - when searching for common DSOs for ex. M11, these appear far down the list. Any plans to make them appear near top for ease of access when doing a general search?.Version: 6.1

Best Astro app and superb supportI have used this software for a while now and after using a number of different apps I have now deleted all of the others (including some that were a lot more expensive!) and only have this one installed. The interface is excellent and intuitive and is very unobtrusive, giving more room for the view of the sky. It is has a huge array of features and provides excellent value for money. It works beautifully on the iPad and the iPhone. The support is also some of the best I have experienced, for any app. In the last version I found a bug with the calendar, I emailed it in and got a very quick response. It was fixed in this version and as soon as the update was out I had an email informing me that the update was out and the issue was fixed. Superb follow up from a developer who cares about the user experience. I would recommend this to anyone who has a passing interest in the night sky all the way up to those with a lot of experience in astronomy. It really is the best..Version: 7.3.2

Amazing! This is a beautifully presented and comprehensive program. Having used Starry Night Pro on a desktop I have to say that this is just as good if not better. Fast, responsive and as much detail as anyone could want. Thank you for your work. Now at version 7.3. Just gets better and better!.Version: 7.3.2

Undoubtedly the best astronomy app on iOSI've been using astronomy software for over 40 years, on PCs and mobile devices. Reckon I've tried every iOS app there is. Initially skeptical that this would be worth the high price when there are a couple of very nice cheaper apps but very glad I bought this. It has *everything* and a great UI - gorgeous and fun to explore. It is clearly a work of love by the developer. Updates are frequent and bugs are rare and fixed quickly. Perfect for seasoned amateur astronomers and newbies as well..Version: 9.6.3

The Astronomy App to end them allThe most fully featured and extraordinary piece of software written to help observe our solar system and beyond, from any angle and any time frame. Beautifully built and is always improving, at no extra cost, no in-app purchases and no paying for new versions. Love the new Meteor shower feature, and can't wait to see space missions included in the future. Thank you for your hard work, I often spend hours just lost looking and wondering about all sorts of astronomical facts and views, have spotted awesome conjunctions that no one in the mainstream press have noted, I've planned lunar eclipses with them, I could go on and on, I just love it. I would happily buy it again!!.Version: 9.1

Cracking App!...and it’s getting better with every update..Version: 9.9.3

One of the bestPleasantly surprised by this one… A full-featured astronomy app to compete with the best, and written by one guy according to the 'about' box. Just one small thing… When you click on settings, it's not immediately obvious that you can scroll down to find more settings. So at first, I didn't think there was a way to tone down the Milky Way graphic, amongst other things. Perhaps that's one of the drawbacks of iOS's disappearing scroll bars. Anyway, I've only been playing with the app for a short time, and already I'm liking it a lot. Time will tell if it becomes my favourite astronomy app..Version: 4.5

Totall absorbingAn excellently executed app with so much information presented in a form which makes you want to keep digging deeper for more. When you do it’s all there. Wonderful stuff, thank you so much for creating this..Version: 9.8.2

By far the bestI have studied the stars since 1963. I have used many astronomical software packages since then on Windows, Mac, and IOS platforms. This is by far the best and most complete. Its celestial presentations are stunning. The number of stars in its data base far exceed anyone’s need. And it is the easiest to take out in the field and use. Used it successfully in the northern and southern U.S., Sicily,, Sri Lanka, Tibet, Morocco, Galapagos, South Africa, and Cape Horn. I wish there was a 6th star in the rating scale. It deserves it..Version: 9.3

Awesome spectacleCould do with a brief training option. But awesome none the less.Version: 9.4.1

Really Great ApplicationI'm not sure where I can across a review of this app, but I figured I'd give it a try as the other program I use, Stellarium, is not as fully featured on iOS devices as it is on computers. Luminos is incredibly heavy on the features, has a huge wealth of information about the night sky and the objects you can see up there. The lists and challenges section is a really nice touch as well, being able to track what you've seen, when and your notes sort of really does away with an observing log book. If you have an iOS device and you're an amateur (or professional) astronomer this is the app to get!.Version: 8.0.1

AWESOMEGreat piece great content what's more to ask for an app it's so complete it's amazing I dusted off my telescope and started using it agian thanks to this app. Keep it up!!.Version: 5.0

FantasticNow I can go anywhere Wow.Version: 9.2.5

Just getting better all the time…Every time I open this app, I am reminded of the genius minds that were able to put so much into such a tiny space; am grateful to John Stephen and Brian Albers for continued interest in bacon-wrapping this most excellent app. Nî Hâo, and Namaste !.Version: 9.3.5

Light years ahead of the pack! After communications from the developers and seeing their enthusiasm to keep Luminos at the top and resolve any and all problems with the App, I have no choice but to give it 5 Stars. This Astronomy App, especially the new Version 9.5, does way more than any other App of its kind. Luminos has given me many hours of interesting fun for a number of years. And now it is even better. I will recommend Luminos to anyone looking for an accurate, informative and colorful Astronomy App, beginners and old hands alike..Version: 9.5

Beautiful AppExceptional App. Use it to control my telescope now and just to explore when it’s cloudy. WOULD LOVE TO SEE JUPITER’s MOON CAST SHADOWS..Version: 9.2.4

A MUST HAVE APP FOR STARGAZERSI have been using this wonderfully crafted app for 5 years and it has never steered me wrong with my astrophotography hobby. Satellite passes, conjunctions of planets and comet passes have been spot on. I highly recommend this app for anyone interested in the night sky. Excellent quality app, always updated and beautifully designed. The Apple Watch companion is superb too..Version: 9.6

Great App but one problemI can’t download the full size UCAC4 catalogue anymore. This used to work. The app become unresponsive about a year ago so I reinstalled everything. All good again except downloading UCAC4 fails every time on decompressing step. Medium version Is fine but fewer stars. I like the faint stars to check astrophotography. I did email developers at the time but no reply..Version: 9.5

Brilliant! If you’re interested in astronomy and the night sky this is the app to have - it’s brilliant..Version: 9.8

GreatI have tried other night sky apps and this is one of the best.Version: 7.3

Stunning! This really deserves a lot of 5 star reviews because it's excellent. Although I'm not even an amateur at astronomy, I appreciate the simple user interface, the clean design, and the exceptional wealth of information available. Also unlike a lot of astro apps this one allows you to put longitude and latitude coordinates in manually (which is a boon if you have location issues like me), and does not need wifi to use. I really hope they make the app universal so I can use the camera on my iPod touch..Version: 4.5

This app has almost everythingThis thing is absolutely worth the money. It has way more objects then say Star Walk 2 or Solar Walk 2. However, I do wish we could orbit stars, and see milky way galaxy as a whole (maybe even nearby galaxies) like on Solar Walk. I also wish there were more 3d renderings of the satellites, and also non earth satellites, and maybe also show the landing of rovers on the planets. I know it's all TLE live satellites, but it would be cool to have the older trajectories and older satellites. Either way this app has probably more than any other app out there, though I have yet to try Sky Safari..Version: 9.6

Simply AmazingI am very happy to have discovered this app. It is just enough when you want it and more than enough when you need it. Easy to navigate. I am a amateur astronomer. This app has already added to my knowledge and I am excited to see how it grows. Yes it’s more money than the others but it is well worth it if you are looking for more than just a hey what’s that star application and truly want to learn. I love the daily list of objects and especially love the satellite tracking. Haven’t found the starlink yet but I’m pretty sure it’s in here. The sale was why I pulled the trigger and thank you for that!.Version: 9.8.1

Very Good - could be betterNice looking app but not for the amateur astronomer at the scope because it doesn't take configurability seriously. I know some reviews laid the simplicity but at at this price it should be a Pro level app. When your at the telescope and observing, the last thing you want to do is fiddle thru menus or wish you can do certain things and thus have to open a separate app. It's about saving time to appreciate the views - so being able to configure this type of app to your liking is crucial. I support this work and appreciate it - and it has my business. But still not replacing my other iPhone app at the scope..Version: 9.2.1

ExceptionalI have tried most astronomy apps by now. Some are ok, some are not, others are very good. However, this one... This is on a complete separate league..Version: 9.7.1

Great updateThis app just keeps getting better and better this is the real deal. Fantastic update thanks for all the hard work it shows. With each update it gets gets better and better. Thanks your hard work shows..Version: 9.2.1

Best Astronomy app ever!Absolutely breathtaking views of innumerable stars, as well as planets and galaxies in the night sky! This one actually works: when I point it at the moon, it detects it (most other apps confuse east with west and vice-versa). App gives helpful info about any star or planet you click on. Just downloaded so I’m sure there’s a lot left to be discovered. Absolutely worth the price; I highly recommend Luminos for all astronomy lovers!.Version: 9.6.1

Great app but...Almost every update wipes out the saved site data (telescopes, eyepieces, reducers and Barlow). Have to re-enter them and it's getting a bit tedious with every update. Other than that, the app works great... Update...app is now working GREAT...luv it.Version: 9.6

A brilliant AppAs a keen astronomer I have downloaded most of the interactive star atlases all of which have their good and bad points. I have just bought Luminos which is stunning and beats all of the competition. The views are very realistic and it has a wealth of useful information. The user interface is the best one I have come across for this type of app. If you are interested in observing the night sky then this is the App you need. My congratulations to the designer and programmer..Version: 5.2.1

Luminos9Luminos9 is the best astronomy app I've ever had, and I have several I thought Distant Suns was good, but it's got nothing on Luminos9. Well worth your time. Excellent for planet positioning, and stars near and far. Perfect for satellite spotters, comets, etc. Can't be beat.Version: 9.3.3

Not motion tracking-UPDATEDI would give 5 stars if motion tracking worked, this version not reading iPad hardware to show compass and accelerometer changes. —-Update, thank you John for your help, a full 5 stars now..Version: 9.9.6

How has everyone not gone crazy over this app already?Luminos is amazing! So many features in one app. I have a telescope at home and it is so great to know the times to take it out and what I’m looking at. Even without a telescope it is so fabulous for exploring outer space from your own house. Sometimes it is a bit confusing but only because it has so many features. I wish more people knew about it!.Version: 9.7.1

Keep up the great developmentFantastic app. If you're serious about astronomy then this is the app for you. It has all of the features that most apps have and boat loads more. Ability the control the timescale, track thousands of asteroids, comets and satellites is brilliant. Scary to know what is floating around out there but brilliant to present. The ability to fly to other objects and see the skies from other angles is stunning. The ability to see Hubble photos and some 2.5 million stars simply makes this a one stop shopping for all Why are yo still reading this review ? You should be downloading this now instead!!.Version: 6.0

THE Best Astronomy App!It has been a while since I left a review for Luminos, so I thought I would take a moment to do so now as I sip on my coffee. This is the best astronomy app out there - worth every penny. Other apps will charge the same amount, may go on sale from time to time, but a year or two down the road will put out a new version and will make you pay all over again for any updates. Not the case with Luminos. Pay once, get free updates. It’s that straightforward. The rendering and ease of use are amazing. This app will not disappoint you!.Version: 9.9.11

Best Astronomy AppI have found this App,to be one of the best Astronomy Apps I've used. The amount of information is incredible, and since the update it just got better. If your into Astronomy Buy it. ;).Version: 8.0.1

Interesting but difficult to manageThis app is loaded with useful and fascinating information but I have found the user interface very difficult to manage. Perhaps, in a couple of decades, I will return to update this review..Version: 9.3

Gorgeous appThis is a gorgeous app. The Motion Tracking mode is like a window through the light pollution at my home. Prompt support too..Version: 6.2

What An Amazing AppI don’t normally pop for apps costing the price of this one but after a night in the backyard playing with the 5-6 other frustrating sky apps I have, I decided to take the plunge. What a difference! This app has such a depth of information it is in a class by itself. I am looking forward to many years of enjoyment using this app..Version: 9.7

Great appI use this a lot for night photography or when I'm lost and out of data range years later it's still great and getting better.Version: 9.3.5

Beautiful and powerfulThis is an amazing App for anyone interested in Astronomy and who want to go that little bit farther than most other apps or planetarium tools support. The ability to fly along with satellites and to land on the surfaces of asteroids, planets, etc, allow us to travel to these amazing worlds in the only way that our current technology allows. The tools available are very easy to use and master. The ability to update all the various satellite data and data for comets and asteroids is an exciting and useful feature. There is very little that this wonderful App can't do, and I'm sure that even that will be taken care of soon enough. The appearance of the sky during daylight and at night are attractively rendered and very realistic. Everyone I have shown Luminos to are blown away by it, and you will be too. Well done, Luminos!.Version: 3.2.1

Luminos is brilliantI have had a telescope for many years & during this time bought a lot of books and planetarium software to learn about the planets, star names & deep sky objects. Then I came across Luminos and could not believe how good it was. I can only say it is absolutely brilliant. It is the only program I use now, the wealth of information is incredible. Thank you Luminos for all the hard work and information you have put into this App most importantly everything works and the controls cover everything you need, unlike some other App's than are disappointing. This is excellent and highly recommended..Version: 9.5

Excellent appThe updated v8 is really intuitive, interesting, attractive and usuable. The scope and eyepiece calculator is also useful. The What's Up Now sky window showing the selected objects in view at the chosen time are instantly recognisable. A really good update to an already useful astronomy program. Well done!.Version: 8.1

Best astronomy app I’ve usedOne of the smoothest astronomy apps out there, well worth the 50 Aussie dollars I paid. This app covers everything that can be seen, and a lot of stuff that can’t..Version: 9.9.5

A Short UpdateHere are some things for a update 1. Add historical constellations also 2. Add nations adding nations when we search it up we can see the borders 3. Add exoplanets it’s a great idea to add those. I rate this a 5/5 because it’s a good astronomical app.Version: 9.11.4

BrilliantThis app is fantastic. Tracking satellites and other objects is great..Version: 6.2

#1 astronomy app! This has got to be one of the best astronomy apps on the iPad. Where do I even begin? There are so many features it's quite overwhelming to review luminos.. All I have to say.. if you are the slightest interested in astronomy, a casual observer of the night sky's or and experienced sky watcher download this app now!.Version: 2.0

Has features a popular paid app doesn’tGreat program very fast and detailed with lots of features some not available elsewhere.Version: 9.6.3

The best astronomy app on iOSUpdate: Unfortunately, with the move to a subscription based model, I will not be continuing to use this app. If you use it every week, that might work for you, but not for an occasional user. I’m disappointed, but oh well. ————— This is hands down the BEST astronomy app on iOS. It might have the flashiest UI, or glittering effects, but it's still darn pretty and is the most feature packed app of its kind. I've bought almost all of them, including Redshift and Distant Suns, but this one is the only one that remains on my phone. To the devs, thank you. Sincerely. To everyone else, you'd be doing yourself a disservice to pass this one up..Version: 9.9.12

Luminos is greatI have been using different various apps. I have two telescopes that I use and two other apps to interface with them. I am setting up this app to talk to my main telescope. I like all the things this app does and the sats. Can be flown on around the earth. Many other things too. Thanks B.Version: 9.3.5

WowReally responsive, very useable, with some wonderful unexpected features. While overly glowing review, I don't represent the developers, I just find this to be a great little app. I wish my father was still alive because he would enjoy this..Version: 9.9.7

Coolest app I’ve seen so farThis app is thee coolest use of technology I’ve ever seen. I’ve read about the North Star for years and now I finally no where it is. I’m def getting telescope to watch for other phenomena now!!!.Version: 9.7.1

GoodI use this app to identify stars and planets I can see, which it’s good at but really needs a way to automatically rotate the view as the phone rotates, so what you see on the phone lines up with what you see in the sky. Maybe there is a way to do this but it’s not clear how to turn it on..Version: 9.3

LuminosNever fails to impress ! Hold it up to the sky to identify stars and planets. The asteroids take an age to update, but then there are a lot of them. The ability to view from any point you choose is mind blowing. The detail available when you zoom in is especially useful for planets and their satellites. Probably does more than a novice requires..Version: 9.3.3

Great AppI initially had issues with the app and had to reset my settings. After that bubble the app is working great and I love it. It is worth the money if you love stargazing and want to know what’s happing in your portion of the sky. I first used it while on a Caribbean Cruise and had issues because of spotty internet connection. I like how I can track what I’ve seen . I keep learning how to use the app every time I use it..Version: 9.8.5

Crazy legsTotally amazing!!!!!.Version: 9.7.1

Luminous 9.5.1Simply the best astronomy app out there - and I have used many and written others. However that is not to say, improvements couldn’t be made. I would like to see moon shadows on Saturn, more moons labelled on zoomed home views of the outer planets, and better accuracy of the positions of the minor moons - some of which are quite inaccurate (e.g. On the opposite side of the planet). Bottom line: the speed, accuracy (for the most part), functionality, wealth of data and intuitive interface make this the one to beat. Keep it up John & Brian!.Version: 9.5.1

Loving it!There is sooo much to this app!.Version: 9.6.1

SensationalThis is my ‘go to’ app for astrophotography. I can’t imagine how much work has been put into developing this, but one thing is for sure, it has been built from passion and a real interest in astronomy and from doing something that is way cooler than anything else. Thank you!.Version: 9.5.2

WowThis is a great app for the amateur astrophysicist in all of us. I’ll spend an hour or two with my boyfriend or homeboys just chlllin outside star (& planet!)—gazing. It’s truly delightful! I especially like learning about constellations and celestial bodies that I have always known existed but never knew the actual specifics of. If you’re a hardcore scientist, you will most definitely enjoy the nitty-gritty minutiae & super specific knowledge of space you can gain with this app; and if you’re just someone who enjoys the occasional PBS galactic special, then you’ll simply enjoy the (literal) cosmic amount of information at your fingertips. Major kudos to the creative design team—the artwork is majorly incredible, especially how ancient constellations are grafted over the sky, painting a picture of how our ancestors wove together stories and portraits of heroes & monsters just by looking upward. Enjoy friends!.Version: 9.9.7

Thank you!🎼🛸Thank you for all the work, time and endless energy spent making this app the most excitingly educational astronomy app currently available. The amount of numerical data alone makes this app #1 the other applications are also next level so I would highly recommend this app.Version: 9.7.1

Fun appThis is a very fun and informative app. Most features can be learned simply by tapping the buttons on the screen. Tapping on a star, planet or any object on the screen will bring up the name and basic info about it. If that is not enough, go to the browser then support and select user's guide and there are professional informative videos on how to operate the app. The Video on the basics is slightly more then 5 min. So it won't waste your time. Selecting a planet, the app will fly through the solar system and orbit the selected planet. Features on it can be selected for more information. Or select a satellite and go "ride" it, So you can see the earth from that perspective. Fun to use and a serious astronomy tool also. My favorite astronomy app. I found the Andromeda galaxy a couple of nights ago using binoculars and was able to look up all the information on this app. It was really a delight to find and learn something new. Update: I am still using this app a year later. I just found comet 46P Wirtanen, tonight using the app. I'm still using this app the most for looking at the night sky with binoculars. I have tried two other apps, but they just don't work well for me..Version: 9.3.4

The best paid astronomy appI’ve been using this and a few other paid astronomy apps for years and this is my favorite. For one thing this company doesn’t keep asking for more money each year. I paid for the app and I’ve gotten a ton of updates for free over the years. They keep updating the app and I don’t have to pay more. I had a few support questions early on and the developer answered them thoroughly and quickly. I like the UI. I find the app intuitive and full featured. I can find anything I’m looking for easily. I use the app on its own and also with a telescope..Version: 9.5.1

Easy to use, prettyHaven’t had an opportunity to take this app and my outside, cloudy, have been exploring the interface and options, having owned nearly all previous apps this was well worth the purchase, a plus is no in-app purchases!.Version: 9.7

Awesome AppI've been using this app for several weeks now and find it invaluable for stargazing. The additional information available on stars, nebulas and planets is fantastic..Version: 7.1

Love this app, but I would it if you added the ability to center on objects while in orbit modeI love this app; it's better in some areas than Sky Safari, but I would love it if you added the ability to center in on objects while in orbit mode..Version: 9.9.3

Just brilliant. One of the main reasons I went back to an iphone was because of this app. Simply the best overall that Ive used. 5 stars for sure..Version: 9.9.3
