They tried… I guessThis app is not great. I bought it because it was supposed to load up my workouts from TrainingPeaks and it… kind of worked. For some background, if you run a Garmin you can sync your TrainingPeaks workout plans straight to your Garmin. Then you go out, you hit run, your watch says “Did you want to do this workout today?” Hit yes, and then your watch feeds you your workout metrics (speed, heart rate zones, etc) in real time. It’s fantastic. I recently was gifted an Apple Watch and was trying to get my Apple Watch to do the same thing. TrainingPeaks is working on integration straight to Apple but for now this app was supposed to be the solution. So about the app. It loaded up some of my workouts. Out of 16 weeks of runs it showed 5 on my phone and only 1 on my watch. So I load up todays run on my phone and get going, to find out that the Watch app doesn’t keep a consistent timer during the run. The phone app does, but the Watch app does not. The whole app interface is also ugly as it gets. It doesn’t need to be super complex but it really could use a facelift. It’s ugly and unintuitive. After all of that I’m going to just run with my Garmin. This is the “best” option for integrating TrainingPeaks onto your Apple Watch for the moment and it’s terrible at that, and then they also want you to buy the app AND pay for a subscription..Version: 6.4.3

Audio cuesSiri audio is so bad, please bring back the old one, this kills the app for me, will have to look for an alternative.Version: 6.0.2

Nope full of errorsI hesitated when spending £4.99 on an App, but this had good reviews. Wanted to customise fields more than the native AW4 running app allows. However, iSmoothRun doesn’t work on my Apple Watch 4. Won’t sync settings from phone (latest iOS) and watch keeps saying Error:activated. Also won’t find my Stryd on my AW4 which I have paired with my phone and the phone App. Have deleted and reinstalled. There’s no trouble shooting for this, so I want a refund. Installing and using Apps should be easy. This is a fail..Version: 6.0.8

I WANT to love this app!But right now it’s just barely cutting it. The watch + iPhone setting just does NOT work. The watch app in watch only mode works as expected. Any time I try to start the watch + iPhone (from the watch) it just displays no info on the watch and the iPhone app sits at the start run screen. Don’t cut and paste your standard check your settings faq either. I’ve checked them all. Smashrun... I love your website but you might want to consider a “ymmv” statement when recommending this app right now. Update: I got the watch and iPhone app working together by starting the outside runs from the phone NOT the watch as shown in the faq. However, treadmill plus this app = fail. It constantly repeats stats, goes to auto pause when auto pause is disabled and doesn’t record the pace or distance correctly on a treadmill. The watch is recording the correct info and can be seen in the watch records. It’s the app.. right now it’s working ok for outside runs and that’s it. I’ll still use it over Nike’s nightmare though. It sad that the Apple Watch is such a running tool failure..Version: 6.0.2

This could be the Garmin killer appI saw the star ratings and read the reviews then purchased the app without a flinch. Eager to leave my garmin at home and use my Apple Watch Series 3 LTE for workouts. The main feature combination that I want to use doesn’t work: (Custom Workouts using Heart Rate Zones). This feature is documented to work but has never worked for me. Is this a known issue? Will this issue be solved in a future update? I’ve tried many many times to get the iSmoothRun app on my Apple Watch to use the watch’s heart rate monitor and it never works. I have given all health permissions and still. I want to leave my garmin and phone at home. I reached out to support via email and haven’t received a response..Version: 6.0.4

Disappointed After UpdateI have been very disappointed with iSmooth Run since the most recent update. The only way I could get it to work (starting a workout from my Apple watch) was to delete the app and reinstalling. This wiped out my history, of course. It only worked once. Now I start a workout and it just sits there displaying information from previous workout. I've tried turning off auto-pause, but that hasn’t helped, either. It is good this app is free, because I would be screaming for my money back if I paid a dime for it. Their “online support” is not at all responsive..Version: 6.0.4

Purchased and deleted in under 5 minsNot for me, shame you have to spend a fiver to see if you like an app or not, I have moved from Garmin to Apple Watch and looking for an app as close to the connect app as can be, this isn’t it, it looks like it could possibly be a good app if you want a few extra stats on your watch that the native app doesn’t have and looks as though you can have a few graphs etc but I’m looking for an app that has an easy view of runs over past week/month etc, also to check heart rate, cadence etc at an easy glance, this might be able to do it but just seeing the interface of the app and personally wasn’t feeling it. Am sure many will be happy with the app..Version: 6.2.0

Good but needs tweakingI use this predominantly as a stand alone Apple Watch app and its good. Really needs a complication on the Apple Watch and doesn’t auto pause. Look forward to giving it 5⭐️.Version: 6.0.12

What a wasteComplete garbage. Downloaded, created some custom workouts, set my HR zones. Tried to sync, fail. Just stuck saying “syncing.” Turned on audio cues, went for a run. Figured ok, well at least I’ll get some feedback since it will notify me of which zone I’m in. Fail. No bpm at all. Just “- - -“. This app feels like a college student built in one night after a binge drinking session. Disgusted I paid for this..Version: 6.2.1

Still not iWatch user Friendly 🙁Read some reviews and ended up buying this app to enable recording HR from my iWatch. Spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out the settings, but still to no avail. Finally reached out to their support - I believe, the session should be started from the iWatch and not from iPhone in order to record HR. The app doesn’t not have any start /stop /resume/end screen - it is supposed to come up by force. After multiple times got it start a session but was not able to end the session, had to turn off the iWatch in order to end the session. Reached out to the App support with making the app more easy to use. I was assured that they are working on those enhancements and will be included in their next update. I hope they release the update soon, until then my two star stands..Version: 5.8.1

Cannot get intervals to work on Apple WatchThe phone app itself is great but the Apple Watch integration isn’t working for me. Even though I’m selecting an intervals workout they are not showing up on the watch - just the regular screens. Are there any instructions on how to do this?.Version: 6.0.8

App no longer works on iOS 14.3, refund requestedI hate writing this review bc this app was finally the tool I had been looking for - a app that could track and cue interval running. I downloaded the app and used it exactly one time and it worked perfectly. However, every since that first time it has not worked whatsoever. I can open it and play in the settings, but as soon as I press Start Your Run, the app freezes. I've tried all the troubleshooting I can do: closed and restarted the app, deleted and reinstalled the app, made sure my iOS is up to date, and restarted my phone. I even thought I may have overlooked some limited use clause when I downloaded it, so I paid to upgrade to Pro. Nothing has fixed this issue. At this point, I've submitted a refund request to Apple bc the app is broken. Which, as I said in the beginning of this review, is a shame bc I was really really excited to have finally found an app that allowed for interval running programs. If I can't find an alternative, I may try this again in the future on the chance the issues have been resolved..Version: 6.2.0

Waste of time & moneyLiked the idea of the app but after using it won’t always upload to Strava , really difficult to set up intervals and absolutely no back up via Facebook or website whatsoever. Don’t waste your money on this crAPPA. If I could get a refund I would but there’s no way to make contact unless FAQ can pick up a keyboard. Utter waste of time.Version: 6.0.12

Useless for AW users. There is no communication between phone app and watch app. When clicking on Settings > Sync data I’m getting ‘error: activated ‘ message. Does not sync workouts created on the phone so only ‘free’ type session is available for the watch as a stand-alone . Waste of money:(.Version: 6.0.4

Great App...when it worksI was about to give this app a 5 star review after 2 weeks of using, but unfortunately had a disappointing experience today. During a run while connected to Apple Watch, the HR measurement flatlined half way through the run. Other apps on the watch were able to measure HR during this period with no problems. Unfortunately iSmoothRun did not recover. Very disappointing as I was doing HR target intervals at the time..Version: 6.0.11

Good for intervalsPurchased for interval training it does work well for that purpose - although the process for creating customized workouts is a bit convoluted. Unfortunately the ability to use sensors other then HR on iwatch for riding does not appear to function well. Specifically a Garmin cadence sensor has issues with tracking distance, in app calibration useless, and drops frequently. Last company does not appear to answer their emails as I have tried reporting the issue multiple times without response. I guess if the app works for your use case great, if not don’t expect support..Version: 6.0.11

Last version buggyThe audios have some errors. Times between the informations is inexistant, so it’s hard to listen and get all the informations. I hope it’s going to be rechecked because I can’t use it that way..Version: 6.0.0

Pro feature not workingI had to remove the app and now the pro features I paid don’t work. When I go to feedback within the app it says “device not configured to send emails” so can’t ask for help, waste of time as looking to go for a run but without the pro version I can’t import my run. Very disappointed.Version: 6.4.4

Started out well but...I initially had great successful with this app, but every time I try using it now the paces are WAAAAY out. Tried watch only watch and iPhone, watch only and leaving my phone at home.... very disappointed, especially after paying for it!.Version: 6.0.8

Unable to get the intervals to workThere are defects in setting the intervals and therefore this app was a waste of money for me. I will not be able to use it at all. Would like to get a refund..Version: 6.0.5

No longer in active development and poor accuracyFirst off, do not buy this if you are on iOS 14, it freezes and does not operate at all. Secondly, it doesn’t do particularly accurate distances or paces. When paired with Strava, it is off by a decent amount over. I enjoyed using this app a few weeks back (before upgrading my OS) but quickly realized it was reporting me at much faster paces. I love all the features — metronome for cadence, pacing, both distance and time intervals, audio cues for slower and faster—but so many bits don’t work (like Apple Watch HRD) and the app is incredibly clunky and frustrating to use..Version: 6.0.12

Download doesn’t workThis app is hopeless. I bought it because the website said it could download to Garmin - but it only works about half of the time. The other reason I choose this app was for the lap feature. But when in waterproof mode you can’t see the lap screen. Save your money and buy a different app..Version: 6.0.5

Paid app that the expects a subscriptionPaid £4.99 and you now expect me to pay a subscription too? Not a chance, I’m off to WorkOutDoors which is far better anyway.Version: 6.2.0

Problems with MilestonePod statsI’m using iSmoothRun on an iPhone SE (First edition) with a MilestonePod. I cannot see all the pod stats even if the font is on its smallest setting. Characters are cut off. Generally a really good app but this is frustrating. I’ve emailed developers twice and messaged them but no reply..Version: 6.0.12

Not accurateDid a walk with my daughter. I’m using iPhone XR and watch 4. She has a Apple Watch 5. Hers said 4KM using Apple app. Mine said 5KM using this app. Went back and compared to a previous same walk and it was 4KM. If distance is incorrect, all other values go out the window. This needs to be fixed please. I paid for the app because the description was very promising especially for the interval workout part..Version: 6.0.11

Waste of time and money!I purchased this app because I wanted two things, One was to have Intervals 10/1’s As part of my marathon training and second was to attach my wahoo cadence sensor for my spin classes. Guess what it does none of those things! Furthermore I cannot Contact the developer nor can I get a money refund from Apple so I guess I’m screwed out of $7Canadian. This is why am writing a bad review so hopefully I will stop other people from purchasing this product, it is absolute garbage!.Version: 6.0.4

Great potential but too many glitchesI’ve used this app for about 2.5 years and most issues have stayed the same. Starting a run from my apple watch series 1 was almost impossible but even with the series 3 it still takes on average 20-30sec. While it doesn’t matter on training runs, it’s certainly upsetting during races. At times the app will also auto pause my workout while running and then switch back right away. I do love the ability to customize your workouts exactly the way you want to which may take some time initially but is definitely worth the effort. I hope the developers will at least fix the delay/synchronization issues btw apple watch and iPhone..Version: 6.0.8

Can’t get it to workDownloaded app to phone but it won’t install on my i watch so is pretty useless to me. Waste of money..Version: 6.4.3

Things you need to know.First I’m really loving the voice audio clues with heart rate zone training. All the big workout apps do not offer this and they should. Here is what I wish I knew before purchase. Yes you can export iSmoothRun data to Strava, but that export is useless as data is translated wrong on Strava. Average pace and moving time is wrong. What’s the point of publishing on Strava if the data is giving the wrong expression of the run. The iSmoothRun app is for the Apple Watch. Correct? Then why can’t you put the app on the watch face for easy access. Instead one needs to go into app menu and scroll to iSmoothRun to start app. You would think being an app for the Apple Watch this would be a no brainer. Oh well. Might have not purchased if I knew of these two issues. The saving grace for me is the voice audio clues for HR don’t trying. Fingers crossed and update is about to happen SOON..Version: 6.0.11

WorthlessI was really hoping to replace my Garmin with this app. The Garmin doesn’t do split distance and time while in the interval, which is important to me. iSmoothRun looked really promising and the ability to configure the display was great. The UI on the app and the watch are well thought out. Unfortunately the app distance is highly inaccurate. I co-witnessed a couple runs with my Garmin Fenix 5X, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and iSmoothRun on my Apple Watch 5. iSmoothRun was short a couple miles on each (as much as 40% short) and the other two were aligned and accurate based on the known distance of the course. I emailed support and their advice was to not run with my iPhone, or turn Bluetooth off on my phone. I never run without my phone and listen to music, podcasts via Bluetooth headphones. I also followed their advice and set it to use only the watch’s GPS, but it was no better. If your running use case includes your phone and you expect accurate distance, and therefore pace, this is not the app for you. Save your money and keep your Garmin..Version: 6.0.11

Apple watch sync not workingI was so excited about this app after seeing good reviews here and on Reddit, but the whole experience has been very disappointing. Setting up workouts was not very intuitive but it did work ok in the end. However, the sync between my watch and phone is just not working, even after following all the steps from the FAQ. I mostly run on a treadmill so I need at least my watch to work fine - but not only it can't work with the phone, but also it can't work on its own. I cannot see any of my custom interval trainings on my watch despite having synced the data about 50 times. I'll be trying to get a refund... so disappointed.Version: 6.2.3

Awesome but Apple Watch support brokenLots of issues using update 6 for the first time. Heart rate not updating. Start in iPhone app didn’t start watch app. Cadence measurement all over the place. Quick! Fix! Oh and a watch only run won’t sync to my iPhone..Version: 6.0.2

Only miles no kilometers? When can I expect Kilometers and centimeters to become available.Version: 2.4.0

Wish I could get trainingpeaks import to work.I downloaded ismoothrun and purchased a pro subscription because it promised to automatically import trainingpeaks structured workouts to the app. Unfortunately I have yet to be able to figure out how to do this. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times, removed and added trainingpeaks authorization, and applied and removed the training plan to my trainingpeaks calendar multiple times in an effort to get the plan to sync with no luck. When I try to reach out for support within the app I am told that my device is not configured for email and I am unable to send any feedback. I’d love to make this app work and unfortunately leaving a negative review seems to be the only way of finding any assistance. Please help! I want to use your app and give you money for a subscription but won’t be able to if this issue goes unresolved..Version: 6.4.1

BugWorked really well last summer, my work out were properly imported on Training Peaks Strava or garmin connect, but since I got an apple watch last fall, no matter what activity I choose on ISmoothRun (walk, cross-country skiing, cycling) it import itself as a running session on Garmin connect, Strava or training peaks. Please correct the bug.Version: 6.4.6

Subscription based now?I’ve used this app for years now and it’s pretty solid, not too fancy and does what it says on the tin. I must have missed the memo but the Pro version of the app used to be $5.99 (or so) and now it’s subscription based? Seems my $5.99 doesn’t qualify me to the Pro.... So frustrating when developers don’t offer any goodwill to long-term users and change the conditions overnight and ask for payment again..Version: 6.2.1

Great app, recently starting having bugsI’ve used the app for about 8 years and it’s terrific in the way you can customize the workouts and intervals. I have all my workout history and the audio cues are awesome. In the last month, I’ve had three instances where the app just quit running in the middle of a workout which is really inconvenient to say the least. It quit after my warm up Mike twice and the last one I didn’t even use a warm up Mile so it ran ok for 15 miles and then it quit running and didn’t save any of the data! I have no idea what to change to prevent ot from bugging out and I hope they fix it because I would hate to switch apps at this time. If it works for you then I highly recommend it!.Version: 7.0.4

Good in theory but no.Nothing but inconsistency and plagued with issues. And don't bother reaching out to their customer service either - that's an oxymoron if I ever heard one. Wish I'd never wasted my money & you can't get a refund either..Version: 6.0.8

Sync Not WorkingI’ve had problems with the watch not syncing with the phone previously and received no help from customer support. I resolved the issue myself. I’m now having problems with syncing again - I went for a run with the watch and it won’t sync to my phone. So the run’s stuck on my watch. I saw another review mention the same thing happened to them and the developers responded that “the app works well.” I’m giving up on this app and the non-existent customer service. This amount of bugs isn’t what you’d expect from a paid app..Version: 6.0.11

Very buggy with distance tracking. This app often stops tracking my distance. I’ve reported the bug but they think it’s an issue with the iPhone gps. They don’t just use the iPhone location services. They think they’ve got a better system that switches over to the accelerometer if the gps signal is weak. It’s total crap. All my running is outdoors in the Arizona desert. Clear skys and the gps signal says it’s 5 out of 5. It just stops tracking. If i look at my position on the map inside the app, the blue dot shows exactly where I am but the trace thinks i stopped up to a mile back! I can sometimes get it to update by shaking the phone madly and they even suggested that as a work around! Really? You want me to take my phone out and shake it just to get a basic function to work. Gps tracking is a very simple task and they can’t get it right. I had to switch to a different app since over the years and multiple phone upgrades it has only gotten worse. I’d give it zero stars if I could..Version: 6.0.11

RE: Music PlayerWhen I first started using this app a few years ago, it was great. For several months now though the music player does not work properly. I’m not your app tester. I’m a customer. I rely heavily on the music elements in this app to drive me through workouts. Please STOP releasing updates until you have rectified the app music player and when you get it right, do not release one without checking the music player fully. If this is not fixed soon I am using another app and will not be recommending it to anyone..Version: 6.0.1

Good but clunkyWhen I go to settings and sync dat I get an “error: not activated” message.Version: 6.0.6

RubbishWaste of money, every time I move my arm it auto pauses even after I turned auto pause off.Version: 6.0.6

Love this appI’ve been using this for almost 2 years and love everything about it other than the maps of my runs with my Apple Watch. It’s horrible. If I use the Apple workout app my run maps look perfect, but on this app it almost never marks the route close to my actual run if I just run using my watch. I’ve tried adjusting the settings in the app and it just doesn’t work. Oddly, my distance is usually close to accurate, but you wouldn’t know it from the map..Version: 6.0.11

Too confusingI’ve been running using Intervals Pro and thought I’d try this out thanks to positive feedback, but I think this app might be geared to Garmin users (which I’ve never been) since many of the positive reviews mention those watches. Because of that, there is a steep learning curve here and I found making a simple interval with a 5 minute warm up walk, a distance run, and a 5 minute cool down walk much harder to do than with Intervals Pro. I was hoping I could add a few more features to a run that Intervals lacks but I am not going to bother. Sorry. I hope this review helps other potential users..Version: 6.2.3

Requires location services be set to “always”The app has a great interface and configuration options are fantastic but the app’s GPS tracking is not accurate when location services are set to “while using”. The developer confirmed that it should be set to “always” despite potential privacy and battery drain concerns. This is quite a glitch when all other major GPS and activity tracking apps work perfectly when you use them without requiring permanent access to your location throughout the day..Version: 6.0.6

InaccurateI remeber when apps were 99 cents. I think that's what I paid for the Nike app. I quite using the Nike app as it required sharing of information. That's why I bought iSmoothRun. But it seems that dispite the extra money they want, for potentially nefarious reasons, access to auto updates (independance from the user) and access to to the Apple fitness app. Further I have found its distance tracking incredibly inaccurate. Nike was at least very accurate. I will drop my use of iSmoothRun. If you value privacy or accuracy I would not recommend this app..Version: 5.4.2

Watch app doesn’t work.I bought this app and wish I didn’t. Workout pauses itself and then won’t restart when I press play. Very difficult to use and not user friendly. Waste of money. DO NOT BUY..Version: 6.0.11

Regular problems with Pro VersionI purchased the pro version but am regularly experiencing problems with the app notifications (both on watch only and to watch and phone) when interval training. Highly frustrating and not worth the annual fee for a glitching app. Makes me want to buy a Garmin unfortunately..Version: 6.4.3

Does this work with Apple Watch 6?Just paid £4.99 for an app that doesn’t seem to work. For some reason all that watch will display is: Distance: 1:20:25- Chrono: 05:32 HR: 145.3 These values are static and won’t update. Seems like this app is broken?.Version: 6.0.12

Unreliable Interval NotificationsI’ve used this app for a few months mainly for running and some cycling. I find it works fine if the intervals are for longer periods of time. For shorter intervals (i.e. 30 seconds with 30 seconds recovery) the watch will sometimes notify you when the interval is finished and other times it won’t. This really affects your workout if you don’t want to be staring at your watch the entire time and calculating time between intervals. Major flaw the more technical my runs have got. If you plan on having a coach via TrainingPeaks with tailored workouts this won’t work for you in the long run. I’ve just sadly had to buy a Garmin and resign my Apple Watch due to this as I’ve had enough. I want to focus on my runs, not whether this app is going to work or not..Version: 6.0.5

Treadmill tracking very disappointingVery disappointed this app won’t track your treadmill runs unless you have your iPhone strapped to your body. Even the naive apple fitness app does this!.Version: 6.4.1

Frustrating problems making it unusableFor some time (at least half a year) I’ve been having problems with phone/watch communications whereby when in watch+iphone mode it frequently freezes upon starting, and worse occasionally freezes mid run: which stops your workout tracking. It works in watch only mode, but that isn’t accurate enough. I’ve emailed the developer about this but have not had an acknowledgement. And judging by the other reviews here, this is a common problem that the don’t seem to care about. This is shame because it was a great app that I used to recommend to everyone I met. Now, I can only recommend it is avoided :-(.Version: 6.0.3

Won't open in iphone5I just got the latest update on dec 12, 2014 and now the app won't open. I'm using an iPhone 5 iOS version 8.1.Version: 4.6.2

PantsCan’t find any instructions that actually work. Been unable to use it at all since purchase..Version: 6.0.6

Going downhillI have been a loyal user of ismoothrun having used it exclusively to track my running fir 6 years. But with the release of version 6 it seems to be fraught with issues. Previously I never had any problems with the gps, communications to to Apple Watch or the touch on the Watch. But now the touch works sporadically, if I use iPhone + Watch mode then pausing can take several attempts and I now hardly ever have a run when it doesn't drop from gps to use the pedometer causing sections of the route to be missing on the maps for any upload I've been hoping that recent releases would fix these issues but I have now got so frustrated waiting I have decided to call it a day with ismoothrun I also think the philosophy of keeping everything local is past its time. Syncing to iCloud to allow sync to ismoothrun on another device would be useful without having to do a complete device restore from backup.Version: 6.0.2

Lots of features but inconsistent execution and poor supportDisappointing. After reading a number of good things I gave it a shot and have been really underwhelmed. There is a lot of functionality, but much of it has not worked properly. The interface isn’t intuitive and the help/setup guide is severely lacking. Ive asked for help with my issues and the only time I got any response was when I followed up with multiple inquiries. Even then we never got the basic functionality to work and there was no real interest in getting things resolved. Look elsewhere. There are better options out there and the charge is not justified..Version: 6.0.3

Not AccurateThe app is basically great. It has a ton of features. However, the app is for some strange reason inaccurate regarding distance run. I have calibrated it against a lot of other apps including Fitbit, RunGo, Mapmyrun, etc. and iSmoothRun is always faster than ever other app. For example, last week I ran a 1/2 marathon and after iSR said I’d done 21 Km, Fitbit said I’d done 20 Km. that to me is a big difference. I reached out to the iSR developer and he put me on ignore..Version: 6.0.10

MrsDo not buy this app. It does not work.Version: 5.6.5
