Golf Digest AppI don't have a print subscription so I don't have a problem activating it. But what I do have a problem with are the user interface and the app itself(downloading purpose) 1. User interface: you swipe left and right to go through diffferent articles but go up and down to read the article? I just didn't like that setup. I rather it be like Zinio where you just browse left and right or at least gives you an option to do that. I miss the zinio function of zooming in on the page(to get bigger font). The UI is not user friendly for me. 2. Downloading issues: Each magazine is quite large in size. I currently live in China and don't have the fastest internet connection(its really slow when linked to foreign websites) Takes a very long time to download probably due to the videos. But download would be paused if I left the App to do something else or if the ipad goes to sleep the download is again paused. Which I had to turn it to never auto lock and leave it up for downloading all night to get a magazine..Version: 3.0

Don't buy itContrary to one or two other comments, the app quite explicitly mentions in the description that it is subscription based and on that basis I purchased a 12 month subscription; I have already cancelled any renewal. The amount of advertising is grossly obscene and takes up more than 50% of the magazine, in fact every second page is an advertisment and considering that readers are paying for what they get, then the publishers are raking in the dough from advertisers paying for inclusion and readers paying for the subscription/hard copy purchase. The app itself is fine, installed properly and worked well, just the product is a dismal failure..Version: 3.5

Like the content, but no landscape. Come on Man....Really like the content, but the lack of not being able to view this in Landscape and some of the other funky navigation brings my rating down..Version: 4.6.7

What happened?For several years I received a subscription to Golf Digest [GD]. The one feature I enjoyed and used often was the “Swing Sequence” feature: the digital edition had a video view from the front, back and straight-on where you could move the swing and see the position(s) in the actual dynamic process of a featured pro swinging. An update was offered recently for the GD App and unfortunately my library of back issues, with my “Favorites” of Swing Sequences (Dustin, Bubba, Phil, Ernie, etc) was erased and that particular dynamic video feature was removed and re-formated into crappy still shots. My library was taken from me. I feel robbed and disappointed. GD GD!!.Version: 5.2

Good, but just too big!I can't deny this is a good app, but it's just such a huge download, something like 500mb? I read quite a few mags on the iPad, (probably more than I should!) and I must say sometimes I yearn for the simplicity of the printed issue. Mags are either a direct version of the printed issue or an absolute monster like this, am I really the only person who yearns for some middle ground?.Version: 3.5

Some flaws....The content is great. Takes a bit to download an issue and the interface isn't intuitive, but it's not difficult to manage once you get the hang of it. Personally, I like the in mag video content. My biggest complaint is that it's not fully functional in landscape mode. When a video starts, it will rotate to landscape. When it print only, you're stuck in portrait. Not the way a lot of folks view an iPad. If they give landscape support for articles, I'd give it 5 stars. Do not subscribe!I've had this subscription for a year. The content of magazine is USA based but as with the paper version it can be an interesting read. The serious downfall is when your due to finish your subscription, there is no option to cancel auto renew. I still can't find how to do it anywhere. GarbageDon't waste your time. Installed a few months ago and it didn't work, thought they would update to fix but obviously they have no clue. Still doesn't work. Constantly getting server connection problems when trying to download an issue. You would think a company that large (Conde Nast) could hire someone who knows what they're doing. Edit: I've been trying all evening to download just one issue and it keeps stopping after a couple minutes. The only solution I've found is to close it and restart and try again. It does work in increments and will eventually download, but takes entirely too long. On a positive note, once I finally was able to view the digital issue, it is impressive. Lost all my purchasesThe past 5 months of my subscription were fine, until last week. For some reason I am now unable to download the new issues, and I am unable to download already purchased issues. I have contacted customer service who mentioned there is an upgrade coming out some time soon, however they do not know why. The reply is exactly the same day after day with no clear horizon for a solution. Now for the fun part: they keep charging my account for the subscription! They refuse to cancel or restore credit to my account. Two charges later, and no issue in my iPad seems quite steep for a magazine that is thinning its issues every month. Help out us older folks please!I am a current subscriber and was thrilled that one of the major magazines that I get was letting subscribers download the e-version for free unlike so many others. Worked fine for me right off. Don't know why others are having so much difficulties. But my biggest complaint is, my eyes are not as strong as they use to be, which is one of the reasons I bought and iPad, so I can pinch and resize pages and text so in don't have to wear glasses. Glasses weaken your vision even more. But on this version you can not zoom in and you can not resize the text like you can on other publication apps, like the New York Times, or USA Today. Great magazines, terrible appAs you might have guessed, this free app is just a Golf Digest ("GD") store - you must buy individual GD issues or subscriptions from within this app. (prices are much lower than newsstand prices, however). Even after subscribing you'll get a large space-wasting top banner ads to subscribe to what you're already subscribed to. The layout of magazines (within the Newsstand app) is not space effective, and looks more like a store rather than a collection of issues. Poor download engine design: Current GD issues are about 500MB EACH and take the better part of an hour EACH to download (I had a wired iPad connection but it used WiFi; apparently it can't be done from iTunes and then sync'd). You must babysit the iPad during download - if the Golf Digest app is closed or the iPad sleeps during download, the download is paused (and often loses some or all of its progress!) until you re-open the app. (the actual Pause/Cancel/View/Resume buttons are incredibly screwed up - UNBELIEVABLE)! So, basically, your iPad is a captive to this app for an hour each month as you download your new issue. Poor storage/synch of apps: Upgraded to iOS5.0.1 from 5.0 and my previously downloaded monthly issues are now gone. No way to find them within iTunes to synch them? Had to re-download all of them! I recommend watching for patches of this feature before buying any issues. There is a Sign In option to create a new account at GD - this is not an apple account sign-in. Maybe there's support or a restore function after signing in, but i am not about to create an account at GD just so i can read their mags or run my iPad apps. Golf Digest issues are multimedia with videos and voice links; I must say they are much more fun (and cheaper) than the paper copies, although navigation is harder than in a paper magazine..Version: 3.5

Family sharing?I have had a digital subscription for iPad since at least January 2014. The subscription enabled my husband to also have digital Golf Digest magazine on his iPad. The new updated app appears not to cover family sharing (although it purports to) as since updating my husband does not have access to previously purchased magazines. The family sharing isn’t for in-app purchases - so what does it actually share! I have emailed for help in this regard but the reply I got was more tailored for paper magazines asking for more detail. Very frustrating. Thank you for your reply. Yes I had already tried to restore as this was the obvious first step to resolve issue. The problem is When I get to this step the iPad brings up to insert Apple ID of my husband which obviously fails because the subscription is under my Apple ID. There was no way for me to insert my name then my Apple ID so it could be read correctly your end. My second step was then to contact the email that you suggested.
