Great tracking systemThis program keeps me and my finances on track and organized. I studied a few options before I bought the lifetime service and this is by far one of the best options. They've upgraded a few times and it keeps getting easier to use. It does take a little getting used to at first but Stick with it - I really like the concept of having envelopes that help me plan for how I spend and save my money. I have seen their customer service take a bit of a dive. They promise 24 hour response time and that doesn't always happen. They are only available by chat (but not always at convenient times for the customer) or via email. Things are getting better - but they definitely need to be mindful that 24 hour response time is important especially since they promise it..Version: 3.0.10

Thrown off a mountainI was mvelopes #1 fan in the early years of its development. They had incredible customer support and I was happy to pay the annual fee when they upgraded to a paid version. About 2 years ago I began having issues with its interface. My bank wouldn’t connect to show transactions and things seemed to be getting lost. The normally very helpful customer service team was unavailable. They started a meeting by appointment schedule which meant I went several days or weeks before having my issues addressed. The app would often be under maintenance when I was hoping to check on my budgets. My bank stopped connecting 6+ months ago so I had to refresh it manually every time I used the app. Also, the split transaction feature recently limited your splitting to two envelopes. I’ve attempted to email/reach out but have had no response or support. I can’t understand why the service is getting worse and the monthly/yearly expense more. Loved the mountain views when I first started with this service but felt quickly thrown off the cliff in the last year and will happily be walking away..Version: 5.13

UPDATE: Used to love it, now I just need my $ back!!UPDATE: If I could change my rating from one star to no stars, I would. I have had fits trying to cancel my account and get a refund for another year charged to my credit card in May. I have contacted customer support multiple times, and when they finally respond, they ask for more information. I have sent them everything they’ve asked for, and they have assured me THREE different times that my request for a refund has been sent to their billing department. Still, no refund! I don’t know what else to do to resolve this. I recommend that everyone steer clear of this company!!! They used to be great, but not anymore. My earlier review from Feb 2029: I can no longer waste my time trying to get this program to work. It has been glitchy since rolling out v5. I’ve never been able to use the new version. They keep making me reload v4, which obviously gets no support. The submitted service tickets seem to be lost in cyberspace. Today, the program is barely functioning, and the app is completely useless. I’m canceling my account and forfeiting my last three months of premium membership. Crash and BurnWas excited to try it on account of very positive user community activity. Turns out they were excited about a pre-2019 Mvelopes era that must have worked well. Tried with my spouse. Mine was always resetting itself to a just-installed state, didn’t remember who I was. Wife’s would generate runtime errors, couldn’t even use it. Updated everything, still wouldn’t work. Too bad. Another great innovation flushed down the toilet by corporate interest I expect. Ended up back with Mint, which seems to have incorporated an envelope/budget interface since last looking at it. It’s not as slick, but the damn thing works. Free to boot..Version: 5.1

Very unhappy. Look for a new app.I’ve had this app since the days of Microsoft money. I’ve tried to be patient with ups and downs of this app. I stuck around when version 4 went to version 5. Now, I’m sick and tired of this app for the following reasons: Customer service Application !!!!!!!!!! Annual cost I’m a paying customer and when I need service I expect it. Not this company, I get a text message that ends up going to a level 3 Techican. Now I have nothing to track my bank transactions. The program was good and I thought when it went to version 5 it would go from good to better. Nope to my surprise, my fault for believing, on this application. It mentions that you can track all your accounts and select the ones that you want to track, however, realistically it makes you place all your accounts on the app. Okay, so customer service says,”oh, you have the option to delete the ones you don’t want to see.” Cool, I go to delete them and the next day my bank account is deleted automatically. I add the account back and now, I’m stuck with all these negative transactions from all my accounts. Lastly, I’m constantly being pushed to upgrade to the higher versions of the program. All I want is a old fashion digital envelope system with a register to show what envelope I pulled from and reconcile function..Version: 5.11

Great concept. Horrible executionAs a financial planner I like to take my own medicine. Used to use quicken but that solution became outdated. Started using this app and it worked fairly well at first and I loved how it organized finances. Fast forward a few months and transactions stop making it to the app. From Chase Bank. Not a small company. After a couple of chars with support I hear that it’s supposed to get fixed shortly. After a 2 weeks no fix. I contact again and they say they are aware of the problem and every one with chase has the same. Chase bank. A week late no solution. I now at other reviews and see that this app has gone downhill. I try YNAB. Wow. What an improvement. Same concept but they do it right. Reconciliations. No problem with down loads. Effective customer service. I’m trying to delete this app and cancel my membership but the app is so bad I can log in to actual cancel. From a professional, do not use this app. Go to YNAB.Version: 5.10

USED to be so greatI have used this app and online budgeting for 15 years or so I believe. It used to be so great when I started, it had its issues but support was helpful and I liked the way it worked so much better than any other budgeting software I could find so I was willing to start paying for it when they went to that. Recently I have had issues with syncing with my accounts and also being billed for the app through iTunes in addition to being billed directly to my account(I’m being billed twice!!). I am getting no response from the billing department(I’ve given them 2 or 3 months to respond and do something with multiple attempts to contact them) and I’ve resorted to the option of disputing the billing on my credit card after being billed yet again. I have not had to do this before but I will no longer be able to recommend them and am even giving a negative review due to the horrible customer support they’ve come to..Version: 5.7

No stars on this review! But they make you give them one.I used to absolutely love this app. It had everything I wanted in a budget app. I loved that it had the register balance and the online balance. You could put future/pending transactions in and would know how much money would be left. Then version5 happened!!! All of a sudden the register balance was gone!! What??? After a week or so of back and forth chatting they suggested test flight and going to version 4. I did this and it was working great until 3 weeks ago. I couldn’t get on the app, spent at least 4 times chatting and they kept telling me they were sorry and would personally escalate my ticket. I was told to go to the web version for now, but that has issues too. It wouldn’t sync my bank accounts. Besides, who wants to do all banking on the computer when I used to be able to everything on my phone? So frustrating.... they just debited my account for the month. Really??? If you know you have issues, you shouldn’t be charging people!.Version: 5.7

Terrible Support. Lacking Basic Features.I’ve used Mvelopes for nearly 10 years. I even paid for a lifetime membership and referred a number of people to the platform. I loved it, that is, until version 5 was forced upon users. The “update” to Mvelopes 5 removed so many great and necessary (very basic) features. Plus, their support is AWFUL. For example, I’ve been waiting for over two weeks for an update regarding lack of connectivity to my bank accounts. That means I haven’t been able to manage my budget for two weeks, which is completely unacceptable. I should say I haven’t been able to manage my budget via Mvelopes. While I’ve been waiting on a response/resolution, I decided to try another platform- YNAB. And it’s amazing. I highly recommend YNAB. Not only does it have SO MANY meaningful and effective features, the YNAB support team is INCREDIBLE!!! They respond so quickly and have even created custom videos to show me how to use certain features. I wish I could recommend Mvelopes, but I no longer can..Version: 5.12

Worst Customer ServiceI have never written a review for an application or anything else for that matter. And honestly, this is far and away the best budgeting software I personally have found. The ability to use individual envelopes to fund bills, and know exactly how much money you have so so very valuable. However there are some functionality issues such as not being able to match more than one transaction without having to shut the app down. But more importantly, Mvelopes/finicity’s customer service is next to nothing. Mvelopes randomly charged my debit card for a full years service when no changes were made to my account. When I called about that, I got an answering machine telling me to leave a message when a ticket is already open for it (that didn’t have a response, which is why I called). If some of these functionality issues and customer service problems are solved, I will be more that happy to come back, and I’ll even edit this review. But I will be taking my money elsewhere. Edit: I can no longer say that this is the best budgeting app I have personally found. Quickens Simplifi is way better and cheaper.Version: 5.20

Used to be a loyal brand advocateI’ll start by saying that this more pertains to the web application (as I don’t think my app has been updated to version 5) but since I CANNOT get through to customer service, get a call back from voicemails I’ve left, or get a reply to emails, I am desperate and hoping this gets someone’s attention. We have LOVED Mvelopes. Helped us get out of debt. We budget every month with it. Have sung it’s praises to so many. Until 2 days ago. When we were asked if we wanted to update the web version to Version 5 we thought, surely that would be an improvement? Horribly wrong. V5 is the opposite of user friendly. It feels like the web application took 10 steps backwards, making you click a billion times to get to see what used to be so easy to do before. And now we can’t sweep? Among other issues. Most disconcerting is that we’ve used the app to make changes and they are not reflected in what we are seeing in the web application. Um, sorry - same login, should that not be a mirror image of the other?! So now we don’t know what’s 100% right. And the fact I cannot get someone to address my questions live is beyond frustrating. We want to revert back to version 4 or we’ll have to find another service. Not paying a subscription for something this terribly broken..Version: 5.0

Sad report - cautionThe company ‘had’ a pretty good software. It had helped me balance and keep our budget with multiple accounts. I was their client for YEARS. However, once they changed platforms , my budget has spiraled out of control due to errors keeping my accounts syncing and a huge learning curve to try to make sense of the surprise import to the new platform. I have tried to be patient, for going on over a year or more, waiting for a permanent resolution. It’s been piece meal, a temp fix and broke again and again and long periods of waiting in between. Last open ticket, I was left with “we’re” working on it and manual import instructions! Even then the accounts wouldn’t balance. There used to be an urgency with their support that followed their mission to help people balance their finances and live a more stress free life! Wish they’d go back to that. Bottom line, if you have multiple accounts to sync, DON’T use this. Otherwise for a simple account and basic budget, it might work ... maybe..Version: 5.16

No longer greatI’ve been using this tool for 2 years now. I loved it at first! It made budgeting easy. There were awesome features available like the funding profiles that made it easy to allocate your paychecks into all your envelopes. Sadly, they started doing the forced update of mvelopes 5 and it’s been terrible from the start. They weren’t ready to roll out the update and had to immediately offer a beta test version of the old version. This was no long term solution, yet it’s been this way for the better part of a year. I’ve stuck with them, hoping they could get everything fixed. It’s been so frustrating because they force the updates and everything gets messed up. I can’t rely on my budget through them any more. My budget seemed okay this morning and when I tried to enter an expense this afternoon, they had done it again. They forced an update and now everything is messed up. The system no longer has my bank accounts synced. A dozen or more past expenses, which I had already allocated, came back into my inbox and my envelopes don’t look the same as they were this morning. I started looking at other budgeting tool at different points of peek frustration with them. Its time to fully make the switch to something else. I’m paying for this budgeting tool and it’s not serving it’s purpose. There’s no good reason for it to take this long to fix the problems. They had a well running app a year ago. Might as well use a non budgeting app- would get same results!This tool was wonderful until fincinity bought it out. 😑 They should refund everyone their money and then some! They’ve changed everything and it has 0 functionality anymore. 💩 It doesn’t work at all at this point . Gradually gotten worse and worse over the last year. Atrocious customer service! 👎🏼 They aren’t even available by phone. Must use a chat feature that isn’t helpful! It shuts you out if your phone screen goes dark and then you’re back to square one. 😫 And the chat doesn’t even open until 12:00 pm Eastern time. Discriminates against you based on your geographic location! Sorry we don’t all live in California. I need help NOW! Half an app here, half in the browser... not a great app for a whole solution...Mvelopes is a fantastic take on a cash based personal finance process. I love how these folks have designed the app and product. However, the app is buggy and I expect more from something I pay a subscription to use. If you use the browser, you have no access to the credit card folder to post payments. If you use this app, your automatic assign transactions don’t assign. So this means you have to use both the app on iPhone/iPad AND the browser to use this system. It’s been over a year since I reported these bugs and the developers are happy to let them stay as is. I am loath to give 2 stars, but I don’t think a developer that leaves large bugs and charges a subscription should get off with now penalty. Id change this rating in a heartbeat if the developer addressed these and other bugs, of the app was free..Version: 3.0.14

This app has changedI have been a solid Mvelopes user for 5 years and have always loved the app. The concept is perfect and the price is just right, even with increases in subscription cost. However, the last 3 years have been never-ending frustration. My life crunches to a halt while my app constantly has technical problems, bank connection issues, and overall poor customer service to where my last issue was not addressed for three months until I threatened canceling my subscription and magically my bank was reconnected and (almost) all transactions imported in about one week. I live by my budget. I need those numbers, and the price tag is no longer worth it. The quality of this app has gone down considerably since the last major update and I cannot recommend it. I have had to change how I use the account, stop using a specific credit card, and disconnect bank accounts to try and hobble on with my budget. I am not the only user frustrated by technical issues, either. I am done. I have canceled my subscription so that it will not renew for another year and I am making the switch to YNAB. I have waited patiently for these constant problems to be sufficiently addressed but I no longer want to be bothered with the constant frustrations and chaos..Version: 5.19

Horrific customer service!!!If I could give negative stars I would! I spent hours on the chat support over 3 weeks trying to solve the issue of my accounts not syncing. I was repeatedly told the same thing and asked to do the same things over and over. Finally after demanding to speak to a supervisor, I was given a call back appointment 3 days in the future. The day came and guess what? No call. So I contacted them again and asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that none were available. I wasn’t going to take that as an answer, so I just kept asking. Finally the support rep told me that a product director would call me within 4 hours, and that he would personally follow up with me. Guess what? No call. No follow up. So I contacted support again and they had the audacity to tell me that the next available call back appointment was in 10 days. Ludicrous!!!! I’m really sad about this because I desperately wanted to use Mvelopes since it’s the only budget app of its kind! Mvelopes, you are missing the boat here... sad!.Version: 5.11

Love this App - when it worksI’ve been using Mvelopes for years - like almost 8. I’ve survived the move from mv4 to mv5 (that was a nightmare). And I’ve survived their being purchased by finicity. The one thing that drives me nuts about this app is when accounts don’t refresh or if any issues arise. Customer support is absolutely terrible. Awful. Seriously. I currently have a ticket that has gone with no response (other than the automated one) for a week now. I’ve submitted others in the mean time trying to get some kind of response - nothing. It truly is terrible. Why have I stayed? This issue seems to come up maybe once or twice a year and besides those times the app is easy to use, intuitive, and has been a literal marriage saver for us in the management of our money. One addition I hope they may think thru is the ability to reconcile accounts. That seems to be the big missing link. Otherwise - they have to fix their customer support. I am seriously considering making a move away from this app because of this - it’s been an issue for the last 4-5 years and shows no signs of getting better. Unfortunate really..Version: 5.16

Clean up in Aisle MAfter doing plenty of research because I needed help being more strict in managing finances as a single mom, I stumbled upon a good review of Mvelopes. Despite all of the reviews from a couple of years ago stating how buggy version 5 is, I decided to give it a chance. It won't even let me sign up!!? At sign up, it says both of my (very valid, very active) email address are invalid.... even after restarting the app. I can't even sign up to give your buggy app a chance. So disappointing that you don't even offer a free version as messed up as this app seems to be, and you want people to use it for such an important task. I'm not interested in contacting support - I don't want to use and trust a financial app that updates "bug fixes" and "performance" constantly, yet still failed me before I even started. Potential is there. Application is laggingWe are life members of Mvelopes. I don’t know if that is still offered. We have used it for over 12 years now. On the positive side, the envelope divisions and ability to track planned spending is wonderful. Creating spending accounts, envelopes, and the such works great. One can even split expenditures into various envelopes. On the negative side, it does not always work. When it does not work, the customer service is horrible. My evaluation is that the program was developed by people who don’t use it and don’t understand the needs of users. Waiting in a long queue in order to chat with someone by text only just so they won’t understand your issue nor be able to correct it. Submitting a ticket and waiting for a possible response. Overall, we like it better than all the other options out there. The frustration is balanced somewhat by the potential of working correctly..Version: 5.16

Removed itAs soon as I started using this app, I started getting strange calls every few hours. Uninstalled the app because of the amount of personal information it wanted. Weirded me out a bit… We will see if the calls stop. I have asked the caller to stop calling me. Syncing issue and slow customer serviceIt’s a great app for the envelope system. However I’ve had issue with my credit card syncing correctly - ie duplicated transactions, missing transactions, and it takes up to 4 days before my synced transactions show up on my mvelope after they’ve been posted on my credit card account. I’ve contacted customer service and they assure me my issue is been escalated to the integration to get resolved, but it has been 3 weeks, issues still not resolved. Are they even working on my issue? Am I the only one having these issues? It seems like these are very basic functions of the app that should not be having issues. I have never heard of Mint users having syncing issues. I am close to giving up and go to Mint. These syncing issues have rendered my budgeting on this app NOT EFFECTIVE, when I’m waiting for my synced transactions to show up for days, how can I stay on top of budgeting? If I have to cross check my credit card statement against mvelope synced transaction to catch missed transactions, how is this saving time and money? Very disappointed customer and just want my issues to be resolved so I can move on, or be notified that my issue will not be resolved so I can use a different app..Version: 5.7

Amazing yet frustratingI LOVE Mvelopes. It has changed my life. However, I’ve started having more issues over the last year. I’ve been using Mvelopes for probably 5 years now and the price keeps going up and the bugs get worse. I can’t even get my bank account to sync at all now. The crazy thing is I love this app still and that’s why I can’t give it 1 star. I’m basically dependent on Mvelopes to function. If they can get their customer service to be more responsive and actually fix urgent issues more quickly, then I might come back later and give it 5 starts. It has the potential. I believe all paying customers should have access to phone support when it is a tech issue keeping you from using the product you are paying for. I think it’s wrong to not allow someone to call because they aren’t paying for the higher plan. I will say the people are very kind,and they usually fix things that aren’t working and will make adjustments based on recommendations to make the site better. But they need to take urgent issues more seriously or they will lose me as a customer. To what other app? I have no clue right now, because again, I love this app and can’t find anything else like it..Version: 5.11

Can’t sync to accountsI really loved this app for the one week it worked. Then all of a sudden it couldn’t connect to my bank. When I contacted customer service, they said my credentials stored for my bank must be wrong. Why are they suddenly wrong when I never changed them, and I could still log into my actual bank just fine? Then randomly it started working again, without me changing anything, so I thought maybe it was just a glitch. But then a couple days later, it couldn’t connect again for the same reason! I never changed my banking credentials, so why is it suddenly saying they’re wrong? I tried contacting customer service through the live chat again and waited over an hour and a half and never got a response. I tried re-entering my credentials countless times, I sent in service tickets, and the only response I ever got was that I needed to try entering my credentials again and to try the live chat. Entering the credentials again never worked because they were already right in the first place, and no one ever picked up the live chat! Again, an awesome program when it worked, but awful customer service and useless 90% of the time when it can’t connect to your bank..Version: 5.3

DON’T TRUST - can’t cancelCharged my credit card after I tried there crappy software free trial that was buggy & didn’t work correctly. Logged in to cancel and gives no way to cancel my subscription and no way to call or email. Only option is a help desk ticket software that does work. Won’t let me in with my email. Now I have to call my credit card company to get rid of the charges. I wish zero was a rating. Apple should close companies like this down. Nothing but bad reviews about customer service. DON’T TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!!! Update: I finally got there help desk after spending 2 hours on phone with Apple support. Then I got an automated message to give them my user name. I did even though they had it right there in there software system. They reply with another message asking why. I sent them another message with user name, email, and why. Then I got another email asking for my user name again. Another update: it’s been a week and still getting emails they will cancel and refund my money but charge is still on my card. I’m going to call my credit card company and block the charges. Ridiculous that Apple allows this company to do this to users. I filed two complaints and going to file a third. These guys are scammers just hoping I’d forget about and they can keep charging me. DON’T TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!!!.Version: 5.11

Horrible Customer ServiceI am beyond disappointed in this app and the company behind it. I had heard wonderful things about it from a trusted friend and decided to give the free trial a go. Things got insanely busy and figuring out a new way of keeping financial records was not working, so I decided to cancel my account for the time, in hopes of signing back up in a few months. Cancelling my account was a nightmare. It cannot be done online. I tried email and was told I had to use online chat. I tried that and lost the connection after being passed around. I finally got the account cancelled after tremendous amounts of run around, just to log into my iTunes account today and find that I am still being charged the monthly fee, despite my cancellation letter from almost a month ago. Of course, I can’t get ahold of Mvelopes or their parent company to fix this issue. In this day and age, it should not take this much time, effort and frustration to cancel an account. Originally I had planned to come back and try this app again when I had time to rework the way I do our finances. Now, I have zero intention of having anything to do with this app or company, ever again..Version: 3.0.6

Used to be great.... version 5 ruined the app :-(I used this app for years and loved it, I would recommend to anyone who listened. It did exactly everything I needed. Then once they upgraded to 5 it went to crap. I lost ALL of my previous data and never could get 5 to upload correctly. Customer service responds quickly but only to let you know they are aware of the issues and are working on it. I have yet to see any resolution. After months of trying to get my data restored and trying to restart from scratch, I gave up and moved to Good Budget. It is the closest I have found to the old Mvelopes I loved. Their only downside is that it does not sync with your banking info so everything is manual. Oh yeah another thing, I am still getting charged every month for Mvelopes even though I have canceled it multiple times. They need to scrap the current software and start back over with Mvelopes 4 do that and I may come back..Version: 5.8

No supportI started using this product when it was only available on CD. I loved it best software I have ever used. I switched to Mvelopes 4 online and put up with all the problems because it was free. Then they started charging for it and I sent an email to them explaining that if they are going to charge me to use there product could they please fix the problems with it. No response at all from them. Next they want me to switch to Mvelopes 5. Switching messed up my inbox by putting about 1000 old transactions back in my inbox. I opened a ticket. I was told not to log into my account and they would fix it for me. 4 weeks later still haven’t heard anything so I deleted my account and started over now the software won’t recognize duplicate transactions and many other things and now the only option is to live chat and it’s only open when I’m at work thanks Mvelopes I’m about to leave you for ever and I’ve been a customer since I was a teenager.Version: 5.0.3

Mvelopes 5Ever since Mvelopes 5 this app has been awful. Support is basically non existent, and I don’t think they have a development team, as they’ve been working on the same bug fixes for months and months. These are not just bugs, but core functions that are completely broken. Every time they do happen to fix a bug, it ends up breaking again in the next update. I have to login to Apple test flight to access a different version of the app, re-download mvelopes, and then login which is a huge pain when I have to do this almost every time I want to look at my transactions. The new version has broken the link to my bank account, so now manual updates have to be made which I thought is what we were paying them for. It also randomly breaks the link between my credit card and the app. We are going to start looking elsewhere, as there is clearly no sign of any of this getting resolved..Version: 5.7

It has potential but isn't there yetMvelopes could be a great software for budgeting when it actually works. It is way more advanced than most budgeting applications available. With that said, I have a Capital One Visa card and Mvelopes is not great when it comes to updating transactions. It is usually several days late and this can defeat the purpose of the application since I can't see what the actual status of my individual envelopes are. I understand that this is a security setting established by capital one but Mint is able to see pending transactions that were done just moments before without any trouble. Mvelopes has some major catching up to do in that department. Some others have written that they cancelled their service and then continued to be charged for the service. I had the thought "that's probably just one person." Sadly, this has happened to me too and it has been very frustrating. Maybe one day Mvelopes will be the gold standard for individual budgeting but they have a long way to go before that happens..Version: 3.0.7

No longer functionalLike many others, I used to love this app. However, over the last two years, I’ve had several ongoing problems: 1) a month before my subscription is set to expire, the mobile app gives me a prompt to extend my subscription and that I only have one month left. But it won’t let me access the app until I agree to extend. If I still have a month left on my paid subscription, I should not have my access restricted, 2) the account thought that may itunes subscription ended in May, but it really ended in November. As a result, in April, I received the prompt mentioned above even though my subscription still had six months. Because my access was restricted, I would have to reup, and have itunes refund me for the amount just to access my account. Not a tenable sutuation. Numerous chats and calls to the Mvelopes staff failed to fix the issue, 3) every 90 days, I couldn’t access my app until I “redeemed” another trial for Mvelopes 4 through Testflight. This was supposed to be temporary, but has been going for almost 10 years. Coupled with bugs and errors in the app itself, I couldn’t subject myself to this anymore. The product is poor. I still have 6 months on the subscription but I’m not planning to open the app again. Budgeting is very important! Don’t waste your time. I don’t have faith that the Mvelopes staff will fix these issues..Version: 5.7

Can’t login to appMy wife and I have had mvelopes for about four years now. It’s a one of a kind app that aids our digital envelope budget. For the most part the app has been good with minor hiccups during new version releases. I started having issues in the fall of 2020 when they changed their subscriptions to basic and premier. Wife and I shared the basic one but when they transitioned I no longer could log into the app from my phone. I emailed support numerous times and they couldn’t figure it out so they sent it to development support. I hadn’t been able to use the app for over 8 months with no end in sight. It wasn’t until we contacted Apple support regarding family sharing that we figured out the basic membership doesn’t support family sharing. It is beyond me why mvelopes customer support didn’t know that. I do not recommend this app. We switched to YNAB and love it. A little bit different philosophy but in the end it’s pretty much the same. YNAB is always pushing out small updates which don’t cause glitches and the website and app seem very well put together and operates like a well-oiled machine..Version: 5.16

Cancelling Subscription Very DifficultI downloaded this app to try and when I had decided to go with another app it was nearly impossible to cancel the subscription. The tech support would not answer my messages and I finally figured it out through google but even then I had to jump through multi hoops. This is like those CD subscriptions from the 90s. Sad to go, but it’s timeI used to love Mvelopes, telling all my friends about this awesome budgeting app I use. Sadly, it’s gotten worse and worse over time. It’s very buggy, which I didn’t mind so much when it was free. Now that I have to pay, I have a much lower tolerance for syncing that doesn’t often work. One of my accounts hasn’t connected in a year. Another one, two months. Not sure they’re working on that any more. After another issue where my paycheck disappeared from my income envelope, and I was assured it was being worked on but nothing changed after a few weeks, I decided to cancel. Which only made me angrier, as it is needlessly complicated to cancel. You cannot click a button that says cancel, nor can you remove your credit card information from the site (exCUSE me??). Nope. If I can sign up clicking buttons, I should be able to cancel clicking buttons. Who has time to wait half an hour for a customer service technician to do that for them? Or are they just hoping you’ll give up before you get that far? This company will not be getting my money again..Version: 5.0.2

I wish I could rate 0 starsI have used this app for 6 years. In the last year it has really fallen apart. I’m not sure if someone new is in charge of the company or what but it is horrible. I would advise anyone who is looking for a budgeting app to look anywhere but here. I am frustrated and have reached out to the support team 5 times in the last 5 weeks bc my credit card is not linking my purchases (literally the main function of this app). They have not fixed the issue, will not tell me when it’ll be fixed, and have most recently been deleting my requests to get it fixed. Lost my trust, Don’t waste your time or $$I’ve been an Mvelopes user for 10+ years and up until the most recent update to 5, it was fantastic. But ever since the update, it has been a complete disappointment and has become a waste of time. The latest update lost important features such as a running balance for each envelope. For a finance tool, why would you get rid of a running balance which helps to manage expenses? And since mid-July, the tool continues to create duplicate transactions. I’ve contacted support at least 5 times on that issue and they say they’re working on it, expect a resolution in 4-6 weeks, and in the meantime to create an envelope for those duplicate transactions which they’ll delete after I contact them again. WHAT? A budget tool has a known issue with duplicate transactions and you aren’t immediately fixing that? I have lost all trust with Mvelopes — I have no idea if my envelopes or budget is accurate any longer. That alone makes this tool pointless!!! And as others have stated, when you log into the tool you will have to manually “refresh” the inbox to get the most recent transactions. Keep in mind that to do that you’ll have to find the refresh button hidden and it’s about 3 clicks to get to it. This was a tool I bragged about for 10+ years, but now... I can’t speak about one positive thing it does. I’m in the process of switching apps because I’ve waited 5 months for these tool fixes and empty promises from the support team. :(.Version: 5.3

Going back to Goodbudget; App not well supportedUpdate: Dropped to one star because the app is slowly falling apart even as the app is forcing me to pay monthly for what used to be free. Will drop at the end of this month and pick up a new budget app in January. Now it doesn’t sync with any of my accounts and I have changed nothing on my end. Update: Dropping to two stars. Every since users were forced to a minimum payment plan, the app has quit working with two of my three bank accounts. One has had a support ticket open for two months. I resent having to pay a monthly fee and get even less service than the free version. I've been using this app in 2017 and like many things about it. Took a LONG time to set it up, though. Not as intuitive as it seems to understand the way the credit card accounts work and catch up on pre-app transactions. I like it but I really miss the reporting functions Goodbudget has. I used that for all of 2016 but wanted to find something that was easier to sync. Please, Mvelopes, if you are reading this, add a reports function so we can see income vs spending and categories as percentages of spending--and on a monthly and yearly basis. Extremely FrustratingI love the concept of the Mvelopes program but their customer service is a complete waste of time. I have had syncing issues with my bank for almost a year and their “integration team” is always working on it. They say they will email you when things are fixed. Well, I have yet to get an email stating anything has ever been fixed .... ever. I get the emails that are sent at 24hr and a week to let me know that it isn’t fixed but nothing else. I have put in a lot...a lot of tickets because it consistently has issues with syncing. At one point they said I should just download the transactions manually. That was their fix...do it on my own. Well, that is why I spent the money...to have things automated and make tracking my finances a little easier. If I am going to do things manually I can set up my own database. I won’t even begin in the faulty transition to Mvelopes 5 which ultimately ended in me starting from scratch. Besides fixing the things stated earlier I also think it would be great to have the ability to hide closed accounts. I would love to give a 5 star because it is a great idea and if it were reliable I would do so, but right now it is horrible..Version: 5.0.3

Won’t issue a refund! Even if you cancel and aren’t using the services!!!I decided to try the “free trial”. I was less than impressed and decided that there services weren’t for me. I was under the impression that I cancelled the services prior to the end of the “free trial”, but I received an email indicating that I had been charge for the upcoming month. I immediately logged in and saw that in fact the services hadn’t been canceled? (Honestly, not sure how that was the case, but whatever?) So I cancelled again. In order to reach out to customer service to try to get a refund I had to create a log in and password. Which I did. I sent the request with the above explanation. I received an email today that they wouldn’t issue the refund because there was “no error”! Um, yes there was an error?!? I still feel like it’s not right to charge me for services that I haven’t and will not be using?.Version: 5.19

DisappointedThis app was recommended to me and before I started using it, I recommended it to others because I love the idea of it. But since I set it up a couple of weeks ago I’ve had nothing but difficulty. I took almost an entire work day to set it up, but I haven’t been able to get it to work properly since then, and customer service is a joke. I just got a response to a question I asked over a week ago, and the response was that it will take a couple of weeks to look into it! Since that question I’ve had half a dozen others. I thought maybe I just wasn’t able to figure things out, but then I saw in reviews others have the same problems I’ve been having. Poor customer serviceApp is useless to two customers: people with newest version of iPhone (XR) AND long-time customers. The fifth version was only made with new subscribers in mind. They did not “get accounts ready” to be streamlined into the fifth version prior to release. I have been using this app since it was free before they coupled with Finicity and started charging monthly for it. The app has lost stability ever since partnering with Finicity. Now, I have not had access to it ever since Feb 2019 with the fifth version release. They tell me to download another app and access the fourth version of the app via it, but that version is not functional. I am being charged money and have been a long time user. ALSO- the app does not work with the newest iPhone: iPhoneXR. The new phone’s screen is too large for the app, and the app expands too big and the bottom half of the app is not visible. For example, when I go to “fund on the fly”, the orange bar and amount of money to allocate are not visible and can not be scrolled down to see. Scrolling down moves the soft features such as the envelopes but does not change the hard features such as the orange bar and amount to be located..Version: 5.1

Fail - won't sync accountsI'm so disappointed with this app because it's a great concept but it just doesn't work. You actually can't progress through the set up until you have enough money in your account to start allocating it and though the app synced with my account once, it wouldn't update again after payday! Not in Kansas anymore TotoI have been with Mvelopes since 2009. Been an advocate for the software and even telling/showing other the software during financial counseling sessions. It has been a great experience. However... This new update has been nothing less than comparable to a F3-F4 tornado (disastrous). I had to download TestFlight and Re-download MV4 (because my account was not ready for the release of the new version). The operability of MV4 has always been lackluster at best (log-in issues, not-so user friendly UI, etc). After 2 months of this (along with other issues from past experiences), I’m feeling a need to try out other budgeting programs. As Jay-Z once said to Nas, “Fell from top 10 to not mentioned at all.” If you don’t upgrade your style, you will succumb to the “Takeover.”.Version: 5.0.3
