Private chargersIf the point of the app is to fanboi out about ev’s it’s doing great. If the point is to find a place to charge your car then this is not suited to the task. Like a pipe wrench used to hammer a nail it can work in a pinch. 98 percent of the listings are private lots. Whether they are business owned employee lots, hotels requiring a stay, businesses requiring a non-ev charge purchase or a private home, they are restricted public access and the app needs to have the ability to filter them out. Currently there are only toggles for private home and hotel. Thus the reason for the second star. Want to make it five star? Have the default map setting for full public access only. If I want to apply for a job with a business that offers employee charging, let me toggle it on to see my options..Version: 6.8.0

Charging in MiamiAre you serious ,it was the worst nightmare ever.A city like SouthBeach,a true shame, not interested to visit again. You are like an underdeveloped city.Version: 6.24.1

Good, but needs more thought and developmentI’m order to get closer to providing a charging experience for all males and models the CarPlay experience needs some work. This app should absolutely include the ability to see if the charger is assumed to be available (based on check-in data) and the ability to check into a charger via the CarPlay experience. This would make it easy for people to check-in and then more likely to actually check-in which will provide your customers with more reliable information on if the charger is actually available or not..Version: 6.24.0

Works greatUPDATE: I think my earlier issue was actually an Apple problem. The website is working normally now. And the password is being shared between the app and my iCloud Keychain, which was not the case before. Given that I haven’t updated the app in between not working and working, but I did reboot my phone, I strongly suspect something had gotten wedged in my keychain. Thanks to PlugShare’s support team for contacting me to track down the problem. Now it works great! Upping the review to 5 stars. Original review: The app is actually quite good, but the associated website manages to break Safari’s strong password generator/saver more thoroughly than I thought possible..Version: 5.5.5

Would be brilliant if not for one nagging issueThis nagging issue is: only ChargePoint is showing up in the app. I have DnR’ed the app twice, all filters are set to show all, and still, only ChargePoint is visible. Only after entering the address of other chargers do you see them. This app worked well on first install. I setup a trip, really easy, including all chargers I needed. Then, when doing a second trip back to my home, only ChargePoint were visible. I had to go to the other app(s) to get the address and enter each stop manually. I may return if this issue is fixed, but I feel a universal EV trip planning app is a fallacy at this stage. It is better to plan your trip using Waze/Apple Maps or other mapping system for now..Version: 6.16.3

SetupAwful setup. App kept crashing. Network errors when trying to setup app. Instability. Not impressed.Version: 6.24.1

Get rid of “1st leg” results in Trips sectionPlease get rid of the “1st leg” limiting results in the Trips section and show all of the filtered results. It’s infuriating to not get all of the EVSE results for a planned trip and only get a portion (unless you do a “show all” which shows everything in the country and not just your route). Is this limitation on purpose? Because this limitation is not in your web GUI version. The EVSE search function is great, but that’s just roughly 50% of the apps functionality. The Trip Planner section is annoyingly “stunted”, and prevents it from being worthy of a 5 star one-stop-shop app..Version: 6.4.0

PlugShare Address Look-up needs umprivingNot as good as ZapMap App for destination address finding - needs to know specifics of eg Tesco’s/ town/ road. All apps could di with more intelligence re listing addresses by relevance eg by local, then by previous searches. Availability of points not great. Route planning eg from UK to Europe doesnt work.Version: 6.4.3

Doesn’t distinguish between CCS 1 and 2The app doesn’t distinguish between CCS Type 1 and CCS Type 2 plugs. They are entirely different plugs and not compatible with each other. Feedback has been sent multiple times, but until this gets fixed only 2 stars from me. Will increase once this gets finally fixed..Version: 5.6.7

Not a user friendly appTried at two charging stns, didn’t work.Version: 6.16.3

Where are so many of the missing ChargeFox/NRMA/QldElectrics?Planning a trip with PlugShare is almost useless if you haven’t checked the chargers from Google Maps or the charger companies’ apps. Nothing to be seen on the Gold Coast, The Farm at Ewingsdale/Byron etc. Have they failed to pay PlugShare to be included? Don’t trust PlugShare, go to Googlemaps if nothing else..Version: 6.16.3

App is no longer an objective sourceThis app is a great concept, but unfortunately, it has been taken over by the charging providers. It no longer provides objective information. There are many reviews that are fake. I have tried to contact several check-in reviewers by sending them a message, but somehow, when I click send on the message, the app reports an error, with no explanation. These “bugs” only happen on certain reviews, which any human can tell are fake. There are also many times when I have tried to add stations, or check ins with details, that immediately get remove the next day. Who is removing them?.Version: 6.19.0

TerribleI have been charged over $40 and I have not used the service once. I was charged for parking on a weekend that I was not even in town. This service is a scam..Version: 6.15.1

Search has brokenThis is my go to charging app but since the last upgrade the search function doesn’t work. Not so keen on Zap-Map but I need a reliable route planner and getting used to using it so if this isn’t fixed soon I might be moving to the dark side..Version: 5.8.7

Can’t seem to see al the chargersSo I’m trying to see all the chargers but for whatever reason I’m only seeing the fast chargers. I’ve reset my filters and made sure they were all visible but it doesn’t change nothing !.Version: iOS 6.22.0

Pile of hot garbageUseless.Version: 6.15.1

Looks like a charging stationThe charging stations and the app are useless. I wonder if they are funded by oil companies. It is impossible to download an app deep in a parking garage. Their station wouldn’t take my credit card by phone. Then when you do get the app, what’s the first thing you want to do? Create an account and link a credit card, right? Nowhere on the app is it obvious where to do this. It should be right in your face. Instead there are lots of menus to explore, with no options to sign up. My Prius Prime is, as we speak, sitting in a charging space, plugged in and ready to go. But not charging due to poor software. Congratulations on having installed some pretty blue lighting. Totally useless for solving global warming..Version: 6.14.1

Location in CarplayI often use the app in carplay mode but the map display does not move with the location of the car, so I constantly have to press the location arrow on the screen or zoom out move the map and then zoom in . This is dangerous and I am going to change apps unless this is fixed..Version: 6.21.1

Information out of date! The information is so out of date for Europe that it makes the app close to useless. It will find some of the charging stations but not all. For Europe find something else to use. App is now deleted. Wish I could have rated it a zero, because that is what it is..Version: 6.19.0

New version full of addsThis used to be a great app, not anymore, the new version is full of adds thrown in your face and reducing the size of the map - the old version didn’t have any of this. Have removed my charger from the app and uninstalled it..Version: 6.19.0

Fees?Am I missing something? A lot of the charge points selected on route planner do not show fees. in Particular european stations. Do you have to get the network app to seespecific fees? Updated after Developer Response. Response, didn’t appear to get my point. None of Plugshare european stations have fee data associated with them. Seemed to indicate that users, have to put fees in their comments?.Version: 6.16.3

Car play supportIt would be helpful if this feature was available in more countries, like Europe, Asia, Australasia and South America. It isn’t rocket science UPDATE I stand corrected - this is under the control of Apple not the developer. Since Apple CarPlay is fairly universal they need to address this capability in other regions..Version: 6.11.0

Logged me outApp logged me out. Won’t let me log back in using my details. Won’t send me a reset password link (including in my spam folder). Won’t let me sign up again because I already have a profile under my email address. I give up!.Version: 6.23.0

Great App But Mapping Needs Serious ImprovementsPlugShare user since buying my EV in 2019. Well done, an essential app for all EV users. Biggest pro: it’s awesome showing the type, few, location of charging stations available around you when in a non-familiar city or location. Biggest con: The mapping function could use some serious updating and improvement. When traveling long distances I have to map out my required charges on Plugshare’s mapping tool. But when I’m in the car, I have to run both PlugShare and Google Maps at the same time so I can see in live-time where I am in relation to upcoming charging stations. My recommendations for maps would be to show my car movement live, on my pre-planned Plugshare map, like Google Maps does; add a button or mechanism to update current distance to a selected charging station in real time (I currently have to create a new map every time I want to check my distance to a pre-planned/mapped charging station); and update the map UI, it definitely feels outdated, almost early MAcintosh/MS-Dos like..Version: 6.12.0

ReviewI used this once. I am deleting it..Version: 6.18.0

Good. No route planning means you loose starsReally good layout and very useful for EV owners with chargers listed that work with your car. No route planning means its usefulness is severely limited as you need to use another app to navigate so sorry you loose two stars until you fix this fundamental short coming.Version: 5.4.3

DeletedNetwork errors preventing me from saving a trip. I downloaded this app to see how it would work as I am considering purchasing an EV. I would not use this app to plan a trip..Version: 6.24.1

Lacks vital informationI just got my first EV this week, so I wouldn’t know if this wasn’t the case back in the day. But almost every station on the map I’ve seen so far has free parking, so that’s not a very useful field. Would be much better to know the going rate at that charger like Charge Point shows. It’s also great to find chargers from a lot of different networks in one place, but when I tap on one, it should say which network it’s on. They clearly have that information, since you can filter by different networks in the settings, just a add a label for it..Version: 6.18.0

Minimal FeaturesThe main reason I do not like this app is the lack of charge speed filters, the ability to hide “Customer Only” chargers or the option to set to Customer Only as that is different to Access restricted. I just want to find chargers that are 50kw+ and I have to pay to use….Version: 6.14.0

Still haven’t added the Audi e-tron 55 to the vehiclesI emailed support months ago to ask for the Audi e-tron to be added - its been available for 6 months in NZ. Because it hasn’t been added yet I’ve had to select a different model vehicle to than one I have so it shows me the wrong type of plugs. It would be great if they actually added the available EVs to the app..Version: 5.6.7

AlmostI have a couple of issues with the app. 1 when selecting my current or recently searched locations to create a trip the app quits. Also, what would be nice is when you have created a trip it would be nice if we could use the entire trip with charging stops to navigate in Waze or other maps app..Version: 5.8.6

CrapIt's crap hard to use . Not optimized for iPhone. Terrible.Version: 6.16.2

They take more moneySo I used PlugShare for the first time yesterday. It automatically took $30 when I connected my car to the charging station. My change was actually free because the gym I go to gives 3 hours free and $5 an hour if you exceed that. I was only at the gym about 30 mins. When I went on the app to see if I had a remaining balance of $30 from the charge earlier and nothing! I can’t even find where the balance would be. I checked my email to see if maybe I received a receipt for the charge and nothing again! I am so upset that they don’t give a trace for the money taken and don’t allow you to see how much money is available on your account! I feel scammed!.Version: 6.8.0

Stranded and responded to like it didn’t matterIf your app is down and people rely on it, you have to tell them. Not having enough “fuel” to get from one place to the next is a big deal. I was stranded and have to rent a car because of the lack of consideration from the company. Send an email to put up an error notice, like, duh? When I contacted them they took a week to respond and then down played how their mistake affected me. Covid is not an excuse anymore, you all aren’t working in a factory your on your couch. It’s fine that errors happen but you have to be responsible for them and communicate them and not excuse them with privileged excuses. People rely on your service not having it causes harm. Being stranded somewhere is a big deal. I will no longer use this company and will actively tell people what kind of people operate it. I was literally gaslight and passive aggressively addressed about my concern..Version: 6.0.1

No way to hide hotelsMost of the chargers listed on PlugShare I can’t use because they are restricted to hotel guests only. I’d like a way to filter them out..Version: 6.16.3

Don’t ask for reviewsI have too many pop ups asking for reviews.Version: 6.11.0

Very buggyI cannot for the life of me plan a trip because each time I exit the app the chargers on my route are disappearing… it’s 3 times I quit the app and I went from having to stop 3 times to stop 1 time for a 650km trip with a max range of 200 on my car. It is important to me for it to be accurate… disappointed! Also the app is very confusing and not properly developed yet..Version: 6.15.0

Inadequate provision for input settingsThere are a number of charging stations not shown and more importantly, the stations listed do not show the charging rate . How can an out of town person such as myself charge a vehicle at only 8 amps?.Version: 6.25.0

CountryGood app ,if the search was more country specific it would be 5 stars.Version: 5.4.4

Borked latest updateIt’s my go-to app for discovering chargers Unfortunately it’s now impossible to use the search function. Clicking on search results does nothing. Map still works OK..Version: 5.8.7

Need a option as to when stations are available or in useNeeds notifications for when stations are busy and available.Version: 6.24.1

Great, but needs a better rout plannerGreat work on this app, but it would be very helpful if it would plan a journey for you, from charger to charger, in a way that is customised to the range of your vehicle and via the appropriate charters that suit your car..Version: 6.24.0

Some stations don’t show upNot sure why some stations don’t show up…I’m at a now but it doesn’t show up on the map.Version: 6.24.1

No user editing abilityApparently, the ability to edit a charging station’s information has been removed from recent app versions. One of PlugShare’s great strengths WAS its crowd-sourced information by actual charger station users/customers. I tried to update a local station that recently added a Tesla plug, but I cannot find a way to edit. And the app’s Help feature provides inaccurate editing instructions that are apparently no longer available. Update: The developer has informed me that some station owners request that the users be barred from editing their listings. Good to know. I have three suggestions. First, I’d suggest that PlugShare develop a process to enable and encourage these station owners to keep their listings up to date (e.g. “New Tesla connector available at this station.”). If users can’t edit station info, the owners should make darn sure to update their listings to reflect changes in status and features. Second, the app’s Help function should explain that some stations may not be editable by users. (Currently, the Help function doesn’t mention this, and that’s unnecessarily confusing. Third, station listings should clearly indicate whether stations may or may not be edited by users right on the listing (perhaps in place of the edit button?). My rating stands at 3 Stars. PlugShare remains an essential EV app, but its usefulness has declined as a result of these changes..Version: 6.12.0

Glitchy, incompatible with Semaconnect stationsI saw Plugshare’s 5 star ratings and figured that it would perform much better than Semaconnect’s 2 star app. So when I needed to start charging my EV at my apartment complex, I downloaded PlugShare and forgot that Semaconnect had its own app. This was my mistake. When initiating a session with PlugShare, my car would never start charging. After the two minute window, the session would time out as if I didn’t plug in my vehicle. I definitely did. After several calls to Semaconnect customer service, I realized that I needed to use Semaconnect’s app. When I tried initiating a charge with that app, my car started charging within seconds. I guess I’ll give Plugshare two stars because my car did charge about 20% of the time..Version: 5.8

The worst EV app and chargersThe whole point of an app connected to a charging network is to simplify the experience of owning an EV. If you want a smooth experience, I recommend EVgo or ChargePoint. Download this app only if you’re an app developer so you can explain how to rebuild this from scratch or if you’re a glutton for frustration. Registering is like running into the walls of a maze. Using the chargers is next to impossible unless you have a fob you can use to connect to the charger. Trying to connect from the app (once I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to do it) yielded multiple failures with no explanation of the problem and no way to go back to fix whatever problems arose. You have to go back to the beginning. There are no directions on the chargers themselves, and the 800# led me to a customer service agent who had no idea how to solve my problem. The aggravation of the entire experience made me question why I bought a Leaf. This company made the range anxiety nightmare of every EV driver come to life..Version: 6.1.1

Not great, not even good, For AlbertaGarbage app. Doesn’t show many of the charging stations unless you put it on min 0 KW which is just dumb. Plus the stations are crappy and don’t supply the stated KWs. Hardly any 350KW chargers supplying anything even close to that. Most are 50kw or lower. All the charging companies have Total crap service in Alberta. And rip off people by charging by the minute, so no incentive to supply good charging rates. Regulations are needed to stop the rip off..Version: 6.24.1
