InShort for Positive User Reviews

What an amazing tool!A bit of a learning curve but the tutorial helps a lot. Highly recommended for business professionals..Version: 3.2.3

InShortAlthough this app has a steep learning curve, its well worth the effort. And the latest upgrades make it easier with the ability to drag resources and processes onto the sheet. I use InShort to think through the details of projects. As a diagram drawer it's simple and quick. Drilling down into sub-activities works really well with the ability to set dates, durations and task completion percentages etc. The visual format is not the same as most project software, but once you get used to it, its easy!.Version: 2.2.2

Fantastic appI’ve tried other apps/tools and none provided the ease and visibility that inShort does. Highly recommend!!!.Version: 7.2

Excellent app for project planning and managementNice intuitive interface. Uses the PERT distribution model for scheduling. Recent version has nice Gantt chart view of flow diagrams. The only thing really missing is effort based scheduling and I believe that the developer already has that on his task list for future versions. Great customer support also. I manage consulting projects for a Fortune 500 firm and this is one of the most useful iPad applications that I have seen so far..Version: 3.0.0

Very Clever App👌Excellent app that I have come across in a long time. Really nice effort by the developer. Too much to take on. Hope I can make the most out of it. 👍.Version: 5.2.2

InshortBrilliant! As a septuagenarian I found it fairly easy to master so I am sure younger people will too. I could have done with a program like this many years ago!.Version: 4.4.5

Simply amazing! Keep up the good work inShort team!.Version: 5.2.1

English pleaseThis is a remarkably good application, marred horribly by the fact that whoever wrote the documentation cannot write in English. The documentation is largely gibberish and spoils the effect of an extremely professional piece of work. There are probably billions of good English speakers, there are probably tens of millions of people who can write coherent, meaningful, comprehensible English. Hire one now!.Version: 3.3.3

Quality softwareThis has the luxury feel of quality software. The drawing tools are similar to OmniGraffle in ease of use. There does not appear to be a pixel out of place in the user interface. I bought it on a whim because it looked intriguing. Learning how to use InShort fully has inspired me to start reading a remarkable book called Critical Chain. This is turning out to be an exciting journey!.Version: 4.4.5

Best app I have bought so farNo kidding..this thing maps out my goals and simplifies processes and so far is the best app I have bought so far in terms of how frequently I use this app but also how I've organized complex tasks into logical orders and have a nice printout on paper to match. Of all the apps ive bought this one has paid for itself many times over. I no longer use my ithoughts mindmapping app as this one lays out the process simply even getting those "a'ha" moments how problems with work and life can be rolled out and put into play....I looked around for an app that does process diagrams and this one is brilliant. Initially confused I got to understand it and so far so good! I've used this app to map out the flow of work, accounts process and decision making within my work. I can use for home tasks also.. I can use this as an instructional tool for my virtual staff whereby the diagrams can be pdf'd and emailed...This was a program that I came back to many times but at the price was reluctant and no reviews. I was at two minds to buy... I can say if you have doubts just go for it, I'm writing this review as I think this app deserves one. This is good also for complex diagrams Thanks developer ...good app! Good colors and nice crisp lines to link everything and stable ... Recent upgrade includes gantt mapping.Version: 3.0.0

Better than VisioI was looking for an app that I could use to do project planning on the plane and later transfer to Visio. This app is so good it's replaced Visio for me. Incredible value for the price..Version: 5.0.1

Excellent project and process managementI am very impressed with InShort. It did not take me long to master the application and put together complex project diagram. It has a nice planning and actual mode so you can track progress versus the plan, plus critical path and best of all the use of time buffers in homage to Goldratt. The manual contains useful tips to keep diagrams from becoming over cluttered. As the main purpose of planning is to share perspective of progress and the plan with your team this app works so well visually, with clarity of visuals to show so easily the project phases, and WBS. So much more practical for large projects than putting all the detail in Microsoft project then finding it impossible to fathom crowded gantt charts. InShort keeps graphics simple and easy to drill down from one WBS to next and link taks between phases. I did have a nervous moment when at first I thought I had lost all more work but turned out that the automatic save feature had saved the day so make sure you set this to on at the start. The only thing I can't find is how to produce a report on all resources used and total costs. It however works really well and also looks like a great workflow visualisation tool as well. Excellent app and well done to the developers..Version: 5.2.2

Brilliant project managerI've just spent about 5 hours playing with this app after downloading it, and once the penny dropped I found that it was very impressive. Extremely slick and well designed. I only wish it had direct Dropbox sync and more detail in the tutorial on scheduling. Nevertheless, this app is special..Version: 3.2.3

FantasticFor a BA or PM, this is fantastic. Hopefully there is a web version soon as well. A bit of a learning curve, but it looks perfect for tracking items, workflows, task, and timelines..Version: 1.4.2

Best project app everI don't normally write reviews but this app is the best I have seen. Can't believe it does not have a squillion reviews. To start with I hate iPads. Gave mine away to my wife but resurrected it just to use this app. It is the most versatile and comprehensive project management and workflow tool I have ever seen. In fact I have never seen anything like it. Each process can be identified by an icon which can be drilled down into to identify the most minute elements. It is cheap at ten times the price. I am still learning the app and it just keeps amazing me..Version: 5.0.1

Sweet.First of all, I love how the author is calling it a program, not an app. This is accurate. The software is simplistically, yet powerfully, robust and well thought out... well-implemented and very intuitive. The logic involved in using inShort makes it exciting to plan within my projects. Finally, I have a mobile app that allows me to define, organize and execute complex projects with greater efficiency and quality control. Haven't experienced any crashing, very pleasant and interactive UI... No complaints yet, awesome job! Wishlist as of v4.4.7: - Dropbox integration (with ability to navigate & choose import/export locations)..Version: 4.4.7

Fascinating appThis app is fascinating. The documentation is difficult to follow but I stayed with it because I saw the promise in the app. It paid off. I now have all my projects mapped and add detail every day. It really helps me think through the work of my consulting firm. It also helps me explain the details of the work to my clients and strategic partners. Thanks..Version: 3.2.3

Shows what the IPad is capable ofThis is an impressive app. It uses standard IPad functionality to facilitate the creation of standard business process workflows. And both work as you'd expect..Version: 1.2.1

Mapping workflows...I wrote a title with friend and mentor Steve Hannaford for Adobe Press called "Workflow Reengineering" a long time ago. It was about process mapping and the place of a new format called 'PDF' had in the maps needed to redefine the relationships between creative environments and the commercial prepress and press rooms. It wasn't until the iPad and apps like Mindo and others until we had actual simple and easy (read human) tools other then pencils with which to draw these critical management tools. Touché for an excellent addition to my collection of mind, thought, and process mapping tools. Nice software and the author has really applied standards in mapping to a beautiful interface. It will definitely prove worth twice the price. Thanks!.Version: 4.0.0

A Lot of Power Hidden in this AppThere is a lot of powerful features hidden in this app. It has one of the most-advanced project management functionality of any program I have seen. That said, I am just beginning to use this app, so not much real experience yet. One Rea for growth would be better links to desktop apps like MS Project, OmniOutliner, etc...and ability to open & save from cloud-based services like DropBox..Version: 3.3.3

Wow..project managementIf I ever do another seven language ad campaign, or plan to introduce a new pharmaceutical product, THIS app would be my guide. In the past, you could never be sure that all were working from the same artwork or label text, or that manufacturing had their cost estimates right. The three dimensional approach means you can "drill down" to see who's up to speed, and who's lagging. I had hoped Adobe Systems would have done this a decade ago. That gap is well-bridged with this app..Version: 3.3.3

Great app with lots of potentialBeen keeping an eye on the project management app market a while. This one is GOOD. The developer is committed and intelligent and highly responsive - and runs a great user forum. The app is founded on solid PM principals but with an eye to practical application - with a highly visual user interface which belies a depth of sophistication and powerful functionality. I use this both for basic process flow diagrams and much more sophisticated project management and it is equally effective at both without getting into the dangerous waters of MSProject oblivion and minutiae. If you can't do what you want - 90% likely is because you are using it wrong and ignoring the principals of PM - for the rest, the functionality isn't there yet - but you can bet it's in development. Refer to the comprehensive user forum (with some fairly aggressive questioning from demanding users met by entirely logical developer responses) and you will be in good hands. Could use a more visual screenshot-based guide on the website - but aside for that - this this is great and worth getting to grips with while it develops..Version: 3.3.3

Well thought out, good implementationI have been looking for process diagramming apps that let you create a library of everyday processes, and this is the most useful I have found so far. The learning curve may be a bit steep, and the interface could be more intuitive at times, but overall it is a really well done app for specialists who need this sort of thing. It would be better if you could mark tasks done with one touch, if timed steps were more animated (with a display of time remaining and elapsed, for example), and if it could store data in a more useful way so you could actually use it to do things like track service schedules and trip mileage for your car, and then produce a report. I love that you can select text formatting, embed illustrations (pictures, but unfortunately not video) and web links. The diagraming interface gets the job done without being too clumsy. The list view is pretty good, but having the status of items all the way on the right makes it look cluttered and hard to read. With a little more work, this could become a very useful tool for everyday use..Version: 4.4.5

A Truly Fantastic AppOk, there is a little bit of a learning curve at first but the app really does an amazing job to help you get through it and become familiar with the UI. Once you do get the hang of using this, it’s wonderful and so very adaptive for creating projects and job work flows. It feels like this app requires much less effort from me to put together something visual for others. I can put more focus on actually thinking of and planning a process. It’s my favorite app for tasking flows, problem solving, and project management. Highly recommended..Version: 7.2

A good app, just choose the right view to suit youThis is a great app. For all of those complaining about complexity, I think you are trying to use the tool for something it is not designed to do. The key thing is that this app allows you to do simple processes, as well as complex. Nothing wrong with that in my world. If you cannot get your head round the flow diagram, just change the view to list or gantt instead. Yes, training videos would be handy in addition to the tutorial. It would also be handy to improve some of the language in the tutorial and to offer a glossary and overview of terms. It would also be handy to have 'quick' access to a key for all the symbols and icons. I cannot seem to scroll through the processes on the left as all I end up doing is picking up the element when I want to scroll down. Not sure how to do this..Version: 5.0.1

Really goodThis app is good, really useful, but you do need to invest a few hours getting to grips with it. Experiment before you try to use it for a live project..Version: 2.2.2

Invest the time to get the best from this appThis is a great app, once you have mastered how it works. To that end, follow the guides from the start and practice first. If you are okay with logical thinking and understand processes then this app will be a boon in how you can set out and share your projects, workload etc. It doesn't magically do it all for you, but does help you understand what is important in how you are carrying out the relevant tasks..Version: 3.2.3

Worth the moneyI needed to create a process flow chart, and didn’t want to pay tons of money for Vizio and the like. Tried a handful of apps and took a gamble and paid for this one. It is clean, easy to use, has a great Progress Chart function. Highly recommend.Version: 7.6

Great visual planning toolIt takes a bit of getting used to but once you learn the object types and how to work with it, inShort becomes a powerful and visual planning and process design tool. This is a well developed and robust app..Version: 4.0.0

Best BPMN App in the App StoreI noticed another review comparing this to Microsoft Project. If all you do is projects...and all you care about is milestones, and such - then of course, there are better apps for that. If you want to model processes and a variety of other capabilities this app supports, then get this app. Other apps in the store and software like Microsoft Project, come up woefully short - they weren't designed for that. This app is great at what it was designed to do - and that should be the starting point of all reviews - how well does it do what it was designed to do!.Version: 5.4.2

WowThis is so powerful! Apple why are you not featuring this???? This is an impressive piece of diagrammatic design software. If you are a manager or involved in process design or management, this is a must have!.Version: 5.4.2

AwesomeThis is one of the best apps I have for my iPad 2. The developer is active in replying to post on his web forum. Sounds like there are great new features on the horizon. If your a project manager or a person that uses TOC, project management, and lean six sigma you got to have this app..Version: 3.0.0

Excellent but ...This app is a superb example of brilliant programming. It's slick and well thought out. At $9 bucks it's a steal. A similarly featured desktop app would cost $300 or more. The developer deserves kudos for an excellent product. Easily deserves 5 stars, ... but OH HOW I WISH app developers - especially iOS developers - would realize that their app isn't really finished until it has proper documentation, proper in-app help, and a decent web site. This app has none of that. (The included "User Guide" is a collection of point-form topics contained within various app objects. Good for getting a very basic feel only.) It took me 5 hours to just start to get the hang of it. Even after that, I still have numerous how-to questions. I can see the power and usefulness of it, but don't expect to get anywhere without significant trial and error experiments. Also, could use a copy and paste of objects. Buy this app so the developer can spent the time and effort necessary to produce some decent documentation, maybe a few video demos, etc. Then he'll have one of the best products of it's type anywhere..Version: 4.4.7

Good programProgram focuses on the PERT chart for initial planning. It is optimized to support the concept of each diagram should contain 7 +- 2 steps. This is done to make diagrams easy to read and comprehend. To get the additional details a project requires each element in the chart can have a nested chart within it. The Gantt view can give a nice overview with a timescale. Be prepared to spend some time reading the PDFs instructions to understand the concepts this program is designed around I have used many different project programs but I still had a significant learning curve to use this one. The program has a lot of potential to grow with reports etc.Version: 5.2.1

Great AppThis is a very good app that does what you expect it to do: it enables you to build flowcharts and plan processes and projects. It's got a pretty slick interface, has a wide variety of flowcharting boxes, and is quite intelligent about dependencies..Version: 4.4.5

Deep functionalityI was looking for an alternative to a full graphing app. Something that looks nice and had gantt charting. This app is so much more. I do a fair amount of flow charting and am frequently frustrated by desktop apps that make you do so much work just for the basics and don't do much at all to help you maintain a common style. This app lets you worry about the concepts of your project or plan and it helps take care of the presentation in a very readable and professional way. If you need to do flow charts for a process or need to visualize and plan a timeline for a project, try this app. There's a learning curve, and it may challenge you, but the on-board documentation and tutorials will help get you going..Version: 5.0.1

Mind-stretcherThis system has some intuitive ways of looking at flow charting and mapping. The potential in business systemisation is immense and I will be exploring this as a means to improve my own business. However there is definitely a steep learning curve to understand the full capability of this software, so be prepared to spend the time to learn. It will be worth it..Version: 3.0.0

So far so good.I've been through the naturally flowing user guide a couple of times. I think it's an amazing touch to actually use the app it's self as the learning tool to use it! The guide is very thorough and within the list view it is easy to go back to any part that needs some practice. I'm working in a team spread over a nation and have found it great to be able to flesh out processes, complete with controlling docs and still be able to "step back" and see the basic concept. Some utube examples would probably save some frustrations. Particularly around saving and sharing..Version: 4.4.5

Robust and intuitiveThis is a complex and full-featured app. But between the tutorial and the intuitive, user-friendly interface I was composing plans with ease in a very short time. It was actually fun to use because it is so well designed. It's worth every penny..Version: 3.2.3

I feel like I could take over the world with this appI feel like I could take over the world with this app. It's unbelievably robust, yet simple. I bought it to make flow charts and map out my startup/client business, but it could be useful for anybody dealing with ideas/processes/resources. Extremely well done. I hope it doesn't change much because it really doesn't need to. Will look good and do its job forever, as is..Version: 5.4.1

Process management guruI am tasked with documenting very complicated business practices and putting plans together for normalizing them. This app has been great, I have been able to break down complex processes and report them to people at different levels with ease. Add in the fact that this is on my mobile devise I am free... Love it.Version: 4.4.5

An alternative task management appInShort differentiates itself from the plethora of task management apps on the app store by presenting the tasks to you in a very visual way. If you're a visual minded person you will likely find this app more useful than other task management apps. I wouldn't recommend this app for light tasks like "get groceries" however for heavy duty, complicated, tasks, which is what this app is made for, inShort works great..Version: 3.3.3

StunningI can't believe that this is a mobile app. It is absolutely the most fascinating app that I own. Ignore the reviews from the people who complain about the tutorial. They shouldn't be using this sort of program. Keep in mind that this is a project management application not a general purpose drawing program and use it accordingly..Version: 4.4.5

AwesomeThis app has allowed me to focus on the tasks in hand and remain focused on the main goal at the same time. I love how I can nest diagrams inside each other and therefore break a huge project into little jobs together with time scales and all manner of other options. I have been using it to help me launch my business and it has saved me so much time it's unreal. Probably the most powerful app you'll ever download if, like me, you need to get REAL results with your time..Version: 4.4.7

Brilliant but complexFor fans of process, logistics, and detailed diagrams and process maps, this app is can be an amazing tool. The feature set is astounding for an iPad app. But be prepared for a bit of a learning curve. The built in walk-through is time well spent..Version: 5.2.3

Have tried many othersIn this program it definitely approaches things from a different angle. I am still exploring all the features but find it has distinctly more power than most other project managers that I have played with, which for some of them, are nothing more than glorified task managers..Version: 5.1.2

Brilliant and very usefulFirst, this app does have a learning curve and there is plenty to learn. But it is well worth learning and far from impossible with a little patience. The app is powerful, feature-rich, and allows detailed, visually intuitive planning processes. I downloaded it last night (along with half a dozen other project planning apps, now deleted), worked through about half of the tutorial (I'll go back for the rest), and in an hour or so today have mapped out a forthcoming 10 month project in a way that will give me an intuitive overview and a way of tracking the steps (I generally find Gantt-oriented programs a bad fit for the more fuzzy-boundaried projects I am involved in - this is perfect). This is the best app for iPad that I've seen in terms of giving me tools to make my work easier (as opposed to dumbed down cute interfaces with lack of control over detail). A little patience is needed to discover best ways of working with the app - e.g. I started out following the guide and creating new objects by dragging boxes, which is a bit finnicky - then realised I could drag default objects from the list, which suits me better. I would like to see the ability to add a background color to each object to make it easier to make certain parts of the process stand out to me visually before they are due..Version: 4.4.5

Excellent program but...In serious need of a good manual - written in plain, structured, grammatically and semantically correct English. I agree that it did take me quite a while to decipher the walk-through tutorial. I can understand buyers' frustration. However I decided to give it a 5* just judging on functionality of the app. If I include the manual/guide and how much learning effort I had to make because the guide was poorly written, I'd probably had given 2* or 3*.Version: 4.4.7

Lovely AppIf you like the PERT project planning approach, this is just the most brilliant piece of software. If you don't you may find it confusing at first, but I would still recommend taking the time to get the hang of it, because it gets you planning and tracking in a much more effective way than standard Gantt charts. I use it all the time at home and work, even for some extremely large and complex projects. The app still needs better sync and share capabilities..Version: 5.5.0

Very Powerful AppThis app has allowed me to focus on the tasks in hand and remain focused on the main goal at the same time. I love how I can nest diagrams inside each other and therefore break a huge project into little jobs together with time scales and all manner of other options. I have been using it to help me launch my business and it has saved me so much time it's unreal. Probably the most powerful app you'll ever download if, like me, you need to get REAL results with your time..Version: 2.0.1

Very we'll madeThis is the future of project management. I hope to see the developers continue adding useful features. I like that the software is as simple or as detailed as you want it to be. It's also easy to use on an iPad. One thing I would suggest however is that some touch events need not require such accurate positioning i.e. It sometimes takes a few tries to hit/touch the elements of diagrams. Overall, best pm software for the iPad and Mac..Version: 5.0.2

Great for BPM EvaluationsI am a big fan of this app. Learned a lot by just using it and have used successfully in various applications. While there is a bit if a learning curve, it's not bad and well worth it. I have found great value in being able to diagram BPM steps with drill down capability to avoid over complicating the workflow. Would like a feature to highlight path options between elements. This would help in using for implementation in web development for example. Right now I export PDF files from inshort and highlight the paths in a different app. Hope other folks see value in this feature for consideration. Would also like to see pools for the swim lanes. I can kind of work around this for now, but it would be nice to have this baked in. Notice some bugs that prevent diagram editing until I back out and into the folder. May be related to memory management with large process flows or having several other apps open, but should investigate. Have not lost data / work done as a result so will not dock a star for that. Looking forward to continued development..Version: 4.4.5

Great mind tool!I thought 'impressive Icon' may have been on the money as when first opening this app it kinda freaks you out with error messages for a couple of minutes, then it crashed a few times, BUT... Once settled it hasn't missed a beat and works perfectly! To anyone looking for this type of app, this one is a ballbiter! It has limitless uses for both private and work s.Version: 3.0.0

Technology Ops ManagerThis app has grown on me, from unsure to awesome. Best use I have found is helping me mind map and clarify what components of a project are needed, then adjust the precedents and outcomes for each (linkage). I have also used it to map out Standard Operating Procedures. Really handy is the ability to output diagrams to PDF with linkage between. Good for forecasting project requirements and milestones. It doesn't allow times to be set in 'past', so not so easy to use as a record of project actions completed at certain time. It's a real time and future planning tool. Also comes in handy as a note taker in design meetings. While not perfect I haven't seen any better similar tools, not even close to it.. Currently next to e-mail my most used app !.Version: 3.3.3

Excellent project planning toolBeen using it for several years, takes a bit of learning to get it working but it is quite a powerful tool for managing small projects, looked at a number of other tools and not found one that is better.Version: 8.9

Easy yet powerfulThough I'm new to this program I am already finding it easy to use and at the same time it has the ability to simplify complex tasks as you can break down each tasks into easier to achieve goals. This approach makes you feel like you're achieving something, step by step, as you go rather than hoping and waiting till you're done to know if you succeeded in reaching your goal..Version: 3.3.3

One key missThis app is really sweet. After just running thru the user guide, I was able to map a project in a few hours and was ready to track within the day after the kickoff meeting. Better than that it set up the critical chain timeline which I've not seen in other affordable planning software. The one big miss is 24 hour days. For most of us the day of applied work is somewhere between 8 and 12 hours. A big win for the next upgrade is to have a simple "Day Length" setting for projects that use hours and days. Also a bug in exporting PDFs of the Gantt chart sends an email without an attachment..Version: 3.2.3

GreatIt works the way I think. Loved using it so far and have plans to use it for work as well..Version: 3.2.3

Awesome ToolIf you have a million things going on and you need to nail things down to ensure the process flows this app is for you. If you like to plan things out then make tracks get this app! YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY! If you do not plan every detail you can still use this but perhaps one of the mind mapping tools is more your style. BUT I was in contact with the developer and was informed that other stencils are coming. Unlike the typical mind mapping app this app let's you create linked diagrams, Very Cool Stuff! Nice graphics too..Version: 2.0.2

Excellent for mapping out processesAn absolutely invaluable piece of software at an amazing price. Note that this isn't really a generic tool for creating diagrams, you'd be better off with something like OmniGraffle for that. Where inShort excels is in producing a specific -type- of diagram, one that maps out the sequence of events, actions and other aspects of a process or processes. Our team have been using this to help develop and document the design for a project specification and it's proving to be a real time saver. I look forward to future versions. Keep up the excellent work..Version: 3.2.3

Best app you never heard ofI bought this app on a whim and am very happy that I did. Not sure if I can talk about competitors here, but the one that rhymes with Omri waffle doesn't hold a candle to this program. Nesting processes on a screen as small as the iPad is critical - I wish I could easily port it back to my Mac. Well done!.Version: 3.3.3

Google calendar/iCalThis seems to be a very good app, I wish it was possible to connect it to Google calendar or iCal. Then It could be much more useful. It is difficult to handle two separate calendars..Version: 3.3.3

Very very useful and Productive ToolWhat I'd like to know is when are you coming out with the version for the Mac and linking the iPad version to it for data transfer, etc.? I do highly recommend reading the book on TOC and then diving in with a critical project. It's more than a 50/50 chance that you'll get to rely on this product. One area of improvement would be to put in some more editing tools say for cut and paste of multiple objects instead of the one-at-a-time process that exists now. Otherwise, so far so great!.Version: 5.0.1

Worth the moneyI was looking for a modeling diagram too and came across this app. I read the description and purchased immediately. Normally I will research most applications to justify the cost; however, from what I had read of the application it's awesome. We have a BPMN application at my workplace and when showing this off to colleagues they were seriously impressed. It starts with the applications tutorial which is modeled with the inShort app. It's structured, simple, easy to learn, and very powerful for modeling processes. It not only models but executes, displays a gantt chart of your progress, and provides a tool to examine inefficiencies. I plan to use this tool to model my own processes for a business I'm starting with a friend utilizing it for efficiency improvement and managing our projects. Worth the money!!!.Version: 3.3.3

InnovativeThis is kind of an amazing app. I'm not using it to its potential yet by any means. I'm not having problems with crashes. It's probably one of the most sophisticated apps available for the iPad..Version: 3.2.3

Information Architects DelightI just tried InShort. In a few minutes I was able to get the mechanics of the tool. As an information architect dealing with deep processes and the need to be able to explain different levels to different stakeholders, this tool is perfect..Version: 5.0.3

6 star app let down by poor documentationLet me start by saying that I find the app itself to be FANTASTIC. But it really needs MUCH better documentation to help you understand it's workings and power. Hence the 4 star rating. That aside, the app is slick, polished and very powerful. If anyone is interested in forming a little user group to get the best out of this app, get in touch with me on the Developer's Forum (use the "Developers Web Page" link on the left and then navigate to "Forum"). My user name is IDN101..Version: 4.0.0

Top App for Professionals!InShort is nothing short of amazing! This is a gorgeous app that has potential to help many professionals. I'm a professional scientist and engineer, who specializes in system integration and informatics—the science of turning bits of data into actionable knowledge. Visualizing process flow is critical … to have this much power in a mobile iPad app revolutionizes field work. This is the app for process engineers or reengineering efforts. This is the app for quality management people, Six Sigma, LEAN and others. This app could change your professional life! App has Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) built in … Good: Concept, design and workflow in this app is great. Bad: A little less intuitive interface … some initial learning curve. So much power to harness within the interface. Ugly: How much this app should cost for later purchasers … hurry and buy before they discover the real value! What is needed: DropBox integration. A companion Mac OSX app (developer claims to be working on it). A few more template style options. Continued refinement of the user interface. More seamless presentation mode for audiences … The ability to account for (or annotate) process evolution or variability (usually over time) … in other words, the ability to flag conditional or time-dependent processes. BOTTOM LINE: Buy it. Worth every penny at this early stage of the app's evolution..Version: 3.2.3

Easy to use workflow toolThis app is beautifully designed. The layout is smart and benefits from logistical continuity within, which is a huge plus when introducing people to a new form of productivity communication. My only minor gripe is that the icon looks terribly silly, and undermines the professionalism this app exudes once you open it. Get rid of the tired hipster derby & apple icon graphic so I can show this app to my friends, please. :).Version: 2.0.0

Very nice platform for process modelingWhile not a heavy user of the software it is a great addition to a toolkit of apps that can help you nail down your understanding of processes when planning them or when trying to dissect them. While the diagraming certainly is helpful, you will find that in thinking through and populating the various attributes of the model's components, the node relevant fields will help you validate both the process and your understanding. The software is very well done, and like a lot of previous reviewers, I'd love to see a desktop version..Version: 5.0.0

Absolutely brilliantThis App is just fantastic! It works very well and does the job perfectly. I use it for project managing but not only. I also use it for everything that required structured approach. Buy it ! you won't regret it..Version: 4.4.7

GeniusTruly amazing software, definitely a must have. Before diving in and experimenting I found it extremely valuable to take the time and do the User guide provided. This software takes project planning to another dimension. Sitting in front of a list of tasks trying to make sense of how to go forward using outdated and expensive planning software is a waste of time. Processes and tasks are always clearer with a diagram. Dependencies, decision points, deliverables, deadlines and everything else needed to plan complex projects are all provided by this App. I am using this App to plan complex automation engineering projects and I'm actually enjoying the planning process. This coming from an engineer should surprise all the project managers out there. Prior to this App, planning was something you did to satisfy the "planning process", generate a Gantt chart, keep your project manager happy and then forget the whole thing and get on with what really needs to be done. It doesn't have to be like that, this App actually helps to structure your plan, track your progress and makes you visualise the project at hand; the future becomes clear. It is goal oriented, results oriented, not process for the sake of process. The diagrams designed are therefore technically valuable, not just at a planning level. It helps convey your requirements to suppliers and contractors when you send them selected diagrams. Basically you plan in one App and then leverage off it for the entire lifespan of the project. The diagram engine of this software is also extremely user friendly, and the multi-level process breakdown makes it very manageable. Furthermore, different diagrams can be designed for different audiences all within the same project plan without having to use other programs..Version: 4.4.5

Guys, you’ve done an amazing job - improvements!!I have been with this app for years. It has been the most promising of all my productivity apps, and has taught me the method of planning that i use today I dont use it in a professional sense, just in goal, assets i have, and assets I need to acquire - with drilldown and dependencies’ functionality :-) However, i moved away from it because it was too glitchy and i need to move fast. In recent times, I have seen that my request to make tasks simpler, less clicking, has been implemented! And this makes it a near perfect app. I have tried to fill the void that this app had with other apps.. i have yet to find an app that does the following three things: - map with dependancies - drilldown functionality - easy to set up and check off I say all this, because this app has capabilities beyond my personal use, but i am grateful that those who made it/improve it have allowed it to have less clicks and simple usability. THANK YOU..Version: 7.2

I liked this appThis app is really great except it crashes sometimes. The thing I ask for improvement is to give me the expected time line for the whole project after stating how long each step will take..Version: 2.0.0

WowI had been eyeing this app for a while, but was nervous it would...fail to execute. Finally spent the money and got it. I'm really happy I did. I can't tell you how nice it is to have an app that understands not just mapping of tasks but also NESTING. So if my goal is "Get better at baseball" I can create a diagram with "Best baseball player I can be" at the top, then have five branches "Hitting" "Fielding" "Base Running" "Mindset" "Teammate". I can then create charts WITHIN each of those branches. So within hitting I can have a chart of branches that makes up the content of hitting, and within each of those hitting branches I can create individual charts. I can then actually work my way through the tree until I've accomplished everything. Great, great, great, great app..Version: 4.4.5

Pretty goodAlthough not the simplest planning app that I've used, it is the most comprehensive and useful. It's worth taking a little bit of time and effort to learn how to get the best out of it..Version: 4.4.7

Innovative process analysis toolI have gone through most of the tutorial and this is quite an interesting tool. It is not a traditional project management tool, but is very useful in process modeling and therefore project planning, since they are just linked processes. As a business architect I find it quite innovative and useful. I've created some sample diagrams and love it. The interface is of medium complexity, but very versatile and consistent. The app is solid, no crashes, and fast. I also like the website and forum - very useful. The tool is well worth the investment in time to learn to use it effectively and efficiently. Recommended..Version: 4.4.4

Good work on the manualThe new manual has been around since 2018, so I guess I should update my review..Version: 7.6

Never beforeThe drawing of hierarchical diagrams lacked a proper tool until now. No longer! I use inShort to prototype projects, as well as to design large scale brain networks. InShort has the potential to be the best gantt and pert app out there, but it is so much more. Here's hoping for collaborative planning to pop in soon. The graph engine could also use some work. Beware, though. The learning curve is steep (though the tutorial provided is great help)..Version: 4.4.5

SuperbFlexible and powerful! I'm probably only using like 10% of its capacity..Version: 4.4.4

Very nice :)The recent updates not only cement inShort's position as a serious process design and execution tool, its output is also great looking and impressing my clients :) PDF output from inShort can actuall be quite functional with internal links between pages and links to the web -- great for teaching and defining business processes that include steps on the web/intranet and SaaS links. Features like images in diagrams to add logos and illustrate processes and the recently added custom URL Scheme allowing you to link to diagrams and even individual processes and resources within diagrams with a URL like "inShort://User_guide/Projects". Very responsive and helpful developer via their forum and also by email. Loving it!.Version: 3.2.2

Excellent project trackerI have a number of GTD's, lists, MindMaps and notepads to help me keep track of the various project in my business and personal life. This however is excellent and now my 'app of choice' for all process and project mapping and tracking. It took me a moment to learn how to use (and I suspect I'm still only scratching the surface) it but once learnt it is a very quick way to capture the blocks of what need to be done or to sketch out ideas and then arrange them into a logical process. The tracking system is excellent and can either be a choice selection ( yes or no or editable to reflect the up to four options) or an ongoing process in which you can progress. I have now set up files for each project, created a template for certain types of work that I do often and this does everything I could want it to. In the future, it would be great to have the ability to colour folders so they could be easily seen on opening the app and to be able to sync this either with the iPhone app and / or with a desktop app... Overall, I'd highly recommend this to anyone who has to keep a track of multiple projects. It's a great project management tool. I suspect that I'm only using some of the very basic elements of the system but it is great. Combine this with ActionNotes and you're able to record meetings, identify action points, sketch out and track a complete project. Brilliant..Version: 1.2.1

Really, really cool.I am so excited about this app, I've been looking for something like it for a long time. Thanks to the developer for continuing to support it. I started using this for all my process-charting needs. At one point, my file got corrupted, but I am confident that updates and following the developers instructions (restart your iPad if it is flaky after you first install it - which is a standard fix for many applications) will sort those issues out. The bottom line is that this app is so cool it gets a 5-star rating even when those initial hiccups are taken into account. The addition of Gantt charts makes it even more appealing. As long as this app stays stable enough to do mission-critical work with large files, it will be one of my favourites..Version: 3.0.0

Great approach to managing processesI am really impressed with this application as it allows me to approach workflow visually in a simple tool which then helps plan and manage projects. And I am only scratching the surface, looking forward to spending more time with it..Version: 4.1.2

Nice WorkAt first I looked at it and put it to one side thinking in my busy schedule that I did not have time to work with this as it looked complicated. HOW WRONG WAS I. Last week I got it out of the box one lunch time dusted it down and went through the tutorial......Never put it down since, I am using and building on it and looking at major company projects with it mapping them out. For me it gets me thinking logically about project and process steps logically and the beauty of it is if I miss something I can go back and add it in. I am still learning about its true potential but so far not disappointed..Version: 4.4.5

Just what I neededOnce you familiarise yourself with the instruction manual, this app was exactly the solution i needed. I found the visual representation and ability to drill down to add layers of info excellent. It helped me demonstrate my thinking to colleagues very effectively. Combined with the fact that you can print off reports....Excellent. Well done!.Version: 5.4.2

Excellent planning appThis is not a simple tool, it's a fairly complex planning app that takes some effort to sort out. That said, for a spatial, flow-diagram type of thinker like me, it's an excellent way to get from brainstorming to Gantt diagram with some pretty powerful scheduling tools to boot! I have NOT shopped around but I am hugely impressed by the way the tools fit together to provide a really practical package for the project manager..Version: 4.4.5

Phenomenal Flow/Process Charting ToolI purchased it with the intent of charting my firm's business processes. What I thought would take a month to chart, due to the ease of use and great documentation, I managed to document ALL of our business process flows from Purchase Order to Cash in one week! Two suggestions: 1) Allow Landscape formatting when converting to PDF. 2) Allow to attach images or documents to each element in the diagram to facilitate documentation. The challenge going forward will be to keep your application simple without the bloat of features requested by us users. Thank you..Version: 3.3.3

Scalable, Robust & PowerfulOnce you get through the user guide - either the PDF document from the developer website or the excellent version in the app - you'll be equipped to use InShort effectively. The developer has done a fantastic job of creating a robust tool that allows for complexity to be reduced as much as possible. DO NOT think you're gonna jump into this app without a little time investment in learning how to use it well. But once you've educated yourself a little bit, you'll be a powerful wielder of a tremendous tool..Version: 5.4.1

Incredible appUpdate** Available on your Mac too! Finally, after waiting for a good while I can use it on my Mac. My life is complete now. In case you're wondering, this is the absolute best app for logically mapping out all your ideas and making them into a solid work frame. As a software engineer I would highly recommend it for anyone who has complex though processes in need of organization. After considerable digging through multiple organization apps. I can easily say that inShort is by far the most logical and organized approach to any complex task you might encounter. We'll worth the extra few bucks. One thing I would of loved for the future is actual 3-Dimentional capability to be able to visualize data in multiple dimensions. Our minds are evolving along with technology and I believe its time to step away from pen and paper and move to the wold of the 3D and beyond..Version: 5.1.2

Very helpful. This is a great app that compliments a number of Project Management tools and resources that I use. Thanks for creating it!.Version: 4.4.5

A Learning Curve But Worth It!This is probably the most unique approach to project management I have ever seen. You can also use it for limited modeling so it has some predictive uses as well. This should be on your “buy this now” list..Version: 8.9

Wow! So much power in such a small space!I got this app for my phone and quickly got started working with it. I found it intuitive because I've used other project management tools such as MS Project. However, for those who are newbies it might take a little bit of patience and determination to go through the User's Guide. It is very worth your while. So much more flexible and fun than other project management apps. My next step is to get it on my laptop so I can integrate it with all my work apps..Version: 5.4.8

Simply UnbelievableThis app makes all other flowchart apps look like finger paintings. If you've ever needed to manage a highly complex diagram and present it in a simple way to non-technical people, you just hit the jackpot with inShort..Version: 5.1.4

Great AppCreates amazing flowcharts and is super slick..Version: 7.3

Excellent AppWorth more than what he's charging. Very useful app, lots of features, looks great..Version: 3.0.0
