✓ Great appWiki loc is a great app for the great outdoors. I mainly use it for off-road driving in Saudi Arabia where there is often no mobile signal and no maps. It tracks your route and allows you to add notes and photos as you go along to help other people follow your route. Only improvements should be to cache google earth satellite imagery easier, currently I have to scroll through the whole route and surrounding area. Other improvements should be able to edit your route after you have finished it i.e to delete the section where you took a wrong turn and to be able to add more waypoints and use more than 6 photos from your slr camera. The search passing place function needs to be a bigger area to search..Version: 3.8.3

✓ Wikiloc genuine ratingThis app is really good for all aspects of walks with only one exception for me. I would like to be able to plot a route before leaving which I don’t think you can do. Every thing else that I would want is in there. I would highly recommend this app and often do, especially at the cost. There is an opportunity for this to be an indispensable app if one likes to find new trails of all types. However it could easily become difficult to use if there are too many useless trails. It would be nice to have something like master trails that list an established trail from start to finish and have people post suggestions for sections of trails or combinations of multiple trails that can make up a journey. It would also be nice to have a standardized public transit section that describes if and how someone can get to and/or from the start and finish points of a trail..Version: 3.2.9

✓ Accidentally found this app and ended up totally loving itI came across a link to a Wikiloc trail in relation to a geocache and decided to get the app. I’m so glad I did, because as it turns out you can convert a track from a GPS to work on the app as well and even add waypoints and photos. I think the app needs need improvements and the ability to edit the route should errors are made in recording, the ability to pin waypoints after the route been recorded would be great! ✓ Great for hiking but a few things I'd like to see...It works great but I'd like it if one could edit more after s hike is saved. I'd like to be able to edit the type of activity, edit the title, etc. It would also be nice to have an alert like a beep that tells you if you've stopped moving so you can pause - and also a beep when you start moving again. ✓ A great App but room for improvementsI am using Wikiloc in Spain. It is proving very useful but has some issues. First, it uses A LOT of battery, especially if recording a trail. On my fairly new iPhone it will drain the battery in 5-6 hours. In the UK I use memory map which is much less power hungry so this issue could be improved. Second when trails are downloaded they hide the map information underneath. You don’t know whether you are on a road, a path or in open country. A transparent route track would be an improvement. Third, the default method of use us to download a trail and then navigate it while recoding your own path on the trail for uploading and sharing. It would be better if just navigating trails were the default with recording as an option. For one thing this results in many duplicate or near duplicate trails being uploaded. For another, recording drains the battery fast..Version: 3.16.10
✓ Way better than AllTrailsIt blows my mind that AllTrails charges so much for a premium membership, and are raking in such a profit from publicly available data. While AllTrails definitely has more recorded trails that Wikiloc, Wikiloc has a better user interface, more reasonable pricing for premium features, and is an all-around better product. I don’t doubt that given time Wikiloc will overtake AllTrails as the most used trail app on the App Store, as soon as people catch on and start to record more trails and flesh out Wikilocs’ maps more..Version: 3.8.19

✓ Great App for Backpacking Trips!I've used this app for three short backpacking trips and for my daily walks around town for exercise to track mileage. It really performs well. It's accurate and quick to respond. You can add waypoints with descriptions along the route and even photos along the way. You can share your saved trails with the world or keep them private. It works great, but I was still considering buying a dedicated GPS device because I wanted to be able to plan trips and plot routes before a trip. I just found out today that you can even do that with Wikiloc! You can draw your map out on your desktop and it gives you the milage and elevation along the route. After you save it, you can download it to your phone and follow the route. The phone battery runs down fast compared to one GPS unit that I read has a battery life of 12 hours. I can see a few areas that would make it easier to use, but it's an amazing app for the price! Well done Wikiloc..Version: 2.7.9

✓ Apple Watch integration is cumbersomeUsing Apple Watch is pretty useful, without looking on your phone, you can see whether you’re still on the track or direction. But watch app and phone app act like different applications, there’s no way to start at one, continue on another. Watch app is great to use it from your wist, but you cannot take picture, battery is not reliable etc, you don’t carry watch charge with you or you cannot charge on your way, phone app is great but to have to get it out of your pocket all the time.
