✓ This is the one you wantThe best apps do one thing well and this is it. It sends whatever notifications you want for any team in any sport that whatever data source this app pulls from knows about. It has real time scoreboards as live activities. It has an apple watch complication that works as well as apple allows it to update. The ads are even nonintrusive and you can pay a very reasonable amount to turn them off, which is the rarest trait in an app in 2023. This doesn’t occur if you open the app, only with the widgets. ✓ Spam ads say you have a virusFor the past 2 months, when using this app, I've been getting spam ads that say I have a virus on my phone. I took a screenshots of the spam ads and googled them. Sure enough, they were spam ads, and I don't have a virus. Over the past 2 months, I've noticed new spam ads come with each update. There used to be no ads. Now there are ads. I understand maybe they need to make $. I have no problem with a little spam in a free app. Buy these shady spam ads saying you have a virus is bothersome. I know better, meaning I know I don't have a virus. But what about naive people, what happens with them?...they can be taken advantage of. The thing is, I've been using this app for over 2 years. ✓ Just the scores (and yet so much more)* To get the OLD widget to reappear simply reboot your phone and it will return! * As an Apple Watch user, I find this app absolutely indispensable. While much bigger and more well-known apps are unable to display all the scores at a glance, this app does exactly that. A no-frills view of the scores (I use it primarily for NCAA and NFL football scores). It can do much more, but it knows when to just stay out of the way. This is the best app if you just want to know the game scores. It’s amazing that all of the other apps I’ve tried just make it so difficult to find the info I want without all kinds of ads and nonsense. Despite the greatness of this app, which is already well-represented in its reviews, I was prompted to write it to include the note at the top. I actually came to find the contact info for the devs to complain about the new iPhone widgets and removal of the old one that was small and unobtrusive. I looked at some reviews to ensure I wasn’t the only one with this issue, and it turns out the devs responded to one such complaint. The solution was simple: just reboot your phone and the old widget will return. Simple. Crisis averted. Same great widget back where it belongs. ✓ Stat boxI think, it would be better if you put the player stat box and the quarter scores on the same page. On the upper side quarter scores, and the bottom of its player stats will be more easy to look. And, in the stat box min, points, field goals, 3Pgoals, assist, rebounds, blocks should be the first columns and then the other trivial things should be there. If you do that this apps will be the only apps that I follow nba on it. Trivial things like Plus/minus and off rebounds should be at the end of the stats and field goals and 3pt and blocks should be either before the assists and rebounds or right after them, but not at the end of the stats. The text on Apple Watch notifications is sometimes cut off. The app could *really* use a sync feature to sync my favorites and followed games from my iPad to my phone. Overall though, it’s not filled with ads (even before I paid to remove them), and it’s not overloaded with news. ✓ Flakey live activitiesUpdate: I was able to get live activities to work by toggling the setting off/on and then restarting my device. So seems the ‘flakiness’ may be more on Apple’s OS side than the app. Increasing the star rating. I think it’s still a kind of clunky implementation when compared to the AppleTV live activities alerts, but at least I can go into the app and manually enable the feature now. The app overall is decent, but I was specifically hoping the live activity feature would work for any game (especially NHL, since they’re not currently supported via AppleTV). I was excited to see that I could (manually) start live activity for hockey games, however, it seems to only work some of the time. I don’t know if it’s somehow tied to regional blackouts, or if it’s just flakey in general, but without this feature I get everything else this app offers in other apps I’ve been using. Figure out how to a) make live activities more reliable and b) allow them to start automatically for favorited teams and this app would be fantastic.Version: 4.2

For example, I can see NHL or NBA playoff series standings on the Today screen before the game has begun. One it starts that stat is removed. I have to advance a few days, until they play again, in order to see the standings. I don’t always look at the app before game time, and sometimes I don’t watch the game but want to check the final score. This would be helpful for series that I don’t watch/follow closely. ✓ The perfect sports score app.For a long time I used the ESPN and CBS app to check sports scores on the go. Those apps were never great but in recent years they've become actively bad, burying the info you want under layers of menus and then making it worse by inserting slow loading videos on all over the place. They're all a bloated mess. It took a while to find this gem but it was worth the effort. Scores are sorted by sport and by league making finding what you want usually a matter of 2 clicks. Because there's limited graphics everything loads fast making looking up data easy to do in seconds so you don't miss action on the screen. The app is clearly geared towards gamblers but it's not obnoxious about it like other apps of this type. There are ads but they are so unobtrusive that I barely notice them. If the ads bug you, you can pay a one time payment which is great in an era when everyone else is pushing subscriptions. I do have one small request… When using dark mode on my iPhone, some teams who have dark logos with no light outline are hard to read. ✓ Best Apple Watch Sports App but a Few SuggestionsI love this app a lot but I do have a few suggestions that could make it better. It is by far the best sports app for the watch especially because you can see the scores of whole leagues instead of just your favorite teams. I love the features with the alerts and the player stats. However, there are a things that could make it even better: - fixing the ESPN Fantasy App player upload, which has never worked for me even though I know I’m using the right login info. - Including other competitions in soccer, like the English Cup, DFB Pokal, UEFA Super Cup, and maybe even some of the friendlies instead of just the leagues’ regular seasons - and allowing favorites and/ or multiple complications along with adding more leagues. I emailed them about my favorite NCAA team having a slightly outdated logo and they corrected it almost immediately. They also helped me out with a family sharing issue promptly. I know some don’t like the payment system, so it’s great to have free options with ads. However, it seems to be a trend lately that other apps aren’t letting you pay to remove (which I vastly prefer) like these guys do. If you’re looking for an app to see sports scores and standings instantly this is the one! The live activity is perfect too! My only complaint: Recently there was an update for the watch app, the new little UI is nice. BUT the complications for the watch face options are only your favorite team. The down side is that you see the most recent score of a team that got knocked out of the playoffs. I would love if there was a choice that you don’t have to select your favorite team and it just takes you to the league tab or the following tab, because I love to see what games are upcoming regardless of league. I think it would be an easy add. It’s just annoying that I have to click the complication, it take to me to an old game then I have to click back from there then click the league I want to see what games are upcoming. I can edit the Home Screen to only show the teams or leagues I care about. My only gripe is the amount of info related to sports betting. I want the app to track sports, if I wanted a sports betting app, I would download a sports betting app. I can’t yet find a way to disable this additional and extraneous information.
