Björk: Biophilia for Negative User Reviews

Fully agree with College Professor [EDIT] [UPDATE]I updated my app on ipad, but will not purchase the rest of the apps for 6 dollars more than everyone else. Apple needs to fix this pronto. It is not fair to the fan who bought these apps 1 by 1 as they were released. The concept is great. The music of this particular album....hmmmm, we'll see. I just emailed customer support for an official answer for this. I will post when (if ever) they respond. I think is a joke to pay more than others. *UPDATE* I wrote a letter to the billing dept, and a woman named Sarah handled my request. In it, I stated our concerns as people who pre bought the 3 apps, and feeling a bit jipped out of our money. She replied that although Apple is not the company to which the complaint should be sent (they are just the distributers, they do not se tthe price) she could give me a 5 song credit on my account, that may NOT be used to purchase the rest of the apps. While I can see her point of the pricing aspect of it all, I cannot fathom why a CREDIT can be deligated to be used for this, not that.... so I have 5 credits.... will I buy the full apps now? Probably. Write in.... you deserve it!.Version: 1.3

Purchases do not sync!Great app. Interesting concept. Nice music, but your in-app purchases will not transfer between devices (ie from iPad to iPhone). You have to PAY AGAIN! I feel like attacking an innocent journalist and pulling their hair out (Bjork fans will get the reference!)..Version: 1.0.1

Boring, confusing, ramblingWith apologies to die-hard Bjork fans and Bjork herself, I found this app to be bizarre and ultimately rather boring. Don't see why this would win a webby award. Obviously it took a lot of money to make all the graphics and video sequences, but some more work on being cohesive was really needed. The app is more of a display of individual visual stunts than a tight, integrated concept. Wish there was a way to return it and get a refund. Or to pass it on to a true Bjork fan. I am looking forward to experiencing what other talented performers will create when they get an opportunity to make app "albums"... David Bowie, are you listening?.Version: 1.5

Should be able to play songsI read that this was the first album to be released as an app so I bought the app, not the album. Although a breakthrough concept (and I'm a huge bjork fan), i wish you'd also be able to enjoy all the album songs while not having to physically 'explore' this galaxy/app or make a separate purchase in iTunes..Version: 1.5

What is the point?"The app could not perform the purchase for an unknown reason." Typical app doesn't work. Supposedly a marketing tool for Bjork but it doesn't work..Version: 1.4

Needs ios9 supportThat's all.Version: 1.5

FAILThe best I can say is that the interface is a little bit interesting. The only actual song included for free is just plain BAD - most high schoolers could do better. It's embarrassing. And it doesn't help that Bjork's English has, if anything, actually gotten worse over time. I would mind all this less if this wasn't such a HUGE download - my iPad doesn't have infinite MBs. Deleting!.Version: 1.5

Really? For those who want to know what this app is about... It's a way to inspire yu into in app purchases. That's all. Yu get to look around a "universe" looking at "stars" and slot of "coming soon" songs while yu spend lots of money to add songs while yu look around the universe again (with great music), but still that's really it. I thought it was different... Til I bought that first song. I'm sorry to those who like this. I just don't see how an app that works like a shop can be popular :(.Version: 1.0.1

70 minutes to download???You got to be kidding! Not even going to bother to let it finish. Deleting it right away. A shame as I would really like to give it a shot. I'm on a 50MBps connection by the way..Version: 1.3

Not working properlyI have an iPod Touch and the Crystalline App doesn't work. Everytime I try to play the "game", it logs me off of the Biophilia App..Version: 1.0.1

Sad timesI appreciate that this is 4 years old, but having seen this app as part of the current VR exhibition (working fine!), I'm surprised that it hasn't been updated to keep up with new operating systems, etc. for people at home. PLEASE update :).Version: 1.5

A little unstableNote:although I might not be too familiar with her music. I am also a musician and I respect all forms of creative expression. This is about as creative as it gets. The one thing this app does is let you totally emerge yourself into the universe that is bjork. So if that is the intention here I have to give the app a 3 out of five based on stability. If I am supposed to delve into this universe and get lost and trip out,I can't have the app crash every time I push a menu option. This is a stunning experience and there have been no albums like it. It is truly the most original concept I have ever seen in regards to album consumption. Until the app gets stable though. Don't think I can take it much further then what's offered in the free trial. I do wish that the first "system" was offered free and not just the "carrier" device used to sell each part, but they need to make their money so I understand. If you are a bjork fan I can not see you NOT going head over heels for this. If my favorite bands did an app like this I would be going crazy too. If only TOOL would get some tracks down and appify them ;)..Version: 1.0.1

Interesting, But...The sound does not work....Version: 1.6

What's free here? The free app provides essentially nothing and takes an aeon to download..Version: 1.4

PLEASE UPDATEI love this app but my iPhone 6 won't run it at all :(((((( I am so sad there are no words to describe it. PLEASE UPDATE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.Version: 1.5

Giant app to sell appsOk, nice interface but it's basically an app for advertising more apps, very little content at all. Sorry, you gotta give a bit to get a bit. and this gives away nothing..Version: 1.4

Crystalline and Virus won't playCan use all other apps but these two load and immediately close again when I try to "play". My older iPad had no problems so it is very annoying that my new iPad Air refuses to handle it!.Version: 1.5

How I do my review you be the judgeThe way I my review is that I will add or subtract depending on the score out of 5 The Display: This app has a great presentation,I like the songs you chose especially the quality with headphones and it never lags.5/5 Gameplay: Absolutely love what you guys did with the games ,especially crystalline, but when I'm at the second orange tunnel it glitches and the crystal no longer moves with the beat. Not mention that the animations & scores will make the entire app crash if the loading takes too long. 2/5 The Verdict: This an astonishing app and I really think Björk really out did herself with the graphics, sound quality, and songs (P.S. also enhance for iPhone five).Version: 1.5

Struggles on an iPhone 3G but still worth it!Will re-review this potentially amazing app once I own the new iPhone 5 but on my current 3G the app loads (all be-it slightly jittery) but crashes as soon as you select a song to Score or Play - it will however play the Animation which is incredible and is an exact replica of the screens used in her live show at the Manchester International Festival this year Overall the experience could be better but this is maybe to be expected on a 3 year old piece of kit.Version: 1.0.1

Not worth itNo where near as cool as I thought it'd be. If it was a $5 app I guess it wouldn't be so bad, but $13? Waste of money..Version: 1.5

Um, no thxBut, it doesn't, like, actually DO anything...does it? Heard so much hype about this and I just couldn't seem to find anything that worked in this app..Version: 1.4

How do I delete this?My problem with this app is that it is too big and it won't go away. I don't want it anymore but I can't get rid of it and the update takes up too much space and takes too long to download. Beware, once you get this, like a zombie, it keeps rising from the dead and won't go away..Version: 1.5

Good but could be made betterIt seems very original and creative but I think the transitions between sounds (esp. when going back to the main screen) could be a lot, lot smoother - it seems quite sudden at the moment which detracts from the natural feel. (That transitions could be enhanced by some visual effects also - in my opinion, lots of opportunity for more creativity which don't seem to have been taken yet.) Also, the in-app purchases seem a bit pricey - a bit of a gamble when there are no demos to check out first..Version: 1.3

Love Bjork/App, But Needs UpdateBiophilia App and LP are brilliant, but echoing some other reviewers that this needs to be updated for compatibility for the new iOS. Hope this app and the fun can continue on for those who previously purchased and for new users! So innovative and neat..Version: 1.5

Just a useless cluncky interface (not free)...I am a long time Bjork fan, but THIS is a disaster. What is the point of this app, it's like the first Atari video games, and just goes on and on? Just a lot of phoney "happy/awesome" reviews to hook people into downloading this bait and switch (it's not really free)--expect to pay for the songs which they should have just charged up front for instead of making you download a useless free app only to immediately have to purchase in app. Still I don't even know what the music sounds like so why would I buy it without hearing it? Flawed beyond belief. To give you an idea of how crazy some of these reviews are, the app crashes and is partly unusable but people are still giving it 5 starts. This is not a 5 star app in any case. The only reason I give it two starts is because it had the potential to be something unique but is fataly flawed by a poor launch and execution..Version: 1.0.1

InterestingI thought that by buying the apps, that the songs would load into iTunes as well. Not the case, I'm afraid. Not bad but as far as value for your dollar, you can do better elsewhere..Version: 1.2

Empty and BrokenI absolutely love Björk. Having the introduction given by David Attenborough was amazing. Beyond that, this application is essentially a broken interface to sell future content. I'd love to have more functionality provided without IAP. If you can't give some content away for free, then don't set the app as free. As far as broken-- the lines/dots have poor antialiasing and glitch in and out of existence as you pan the camera. The dots are low resolution textures with terrible scaling artifacts. (see the free app 'planetary' for an example of what high quality graphics are possible) The 3d controls invert if you rotate around 180degrees and become unusable. Hypersensitive accelerometer controls are on by default with no way to disable, so the screen wobbles with the unintentional motions of the user. Please make this app worthy of Björks music and Attenboroughs intro!!!.Version: 1.4

Not iOS 11 compatible!!Beware before you buy. Bummed that it was not mentioned..Version: 1.5

The Virus App doesn’t workThe Virus app is not synched and the song can’t finish, I have an iPad Air 2..Version: 1.6

FailWow! This is not very impressive Experimentation has is risk.Version: 1.0.1

Very badThis app should be free Since not working with ios9... make you pay for something that is not working I want my money back. Now.Version: 1.5

No longer worksCan you make this compatible with iPad Pro? Or refund me?.Version: 1.5

Not sure yetIt says free app, but it seems to be all IAP's ( in app purchases). Why not just charge up front like Kraftwerk did with the Kling Klang Machine? - Which is an AWESOME app btw!! C'mon Bjork, your name is attached to this... Still though, I'm gonna give it a chance. Maybe..Version: 1.0.1

Innovative?Interesting concept but poorly development and design. Less content but no context.Version: 1.0.1

PointlessDoesn't do anything. Just keeps asking me to buy songs..Version: 1.0.1

Pretty useless.I love Bjork, I really do. But this app is worthless. And even if it was amazing, the constant 700+ MB updates have finally annoyed me enough to delete it. What a waste of bandwidth for nothing but fluff and pretty pictures..Version: 1.4

IPhone 5's 4 inch retina display*• Please update this app to support the iPhone 5's 4 inch retina display*.Version: 1.5

InterestingThe app is ok but in the future I will wait for the album release and then decide. The app is a bit clunky and the need to return to the central point begins to tire. As an app it has the potential for being a worrying new trend but overall it's the music that dissatisfied me the most. It sounded like a tune from Bagpuss..Version: 1.3

Doesn't make sense and isn't truly freeYep......Version: 1.1

No senseThis app makes no sense. Only one song is free rest are in app purchases..Version: 1.3

1.4 Update:what special offer for those who paid twice?1.5 update- what's the point to pre-existing users? We're still ripped off for being early adopters, now another update that does nothing to balance this inequity? What a joke! This update just makes it easier for those who are buying now, & who gives a toss about about who paid nearly twice for the same? Not the developers, that's for sure. Thanks for that! Really cool of you! Update: this review pertains to the 1.4 update in particular. I have no problems w/ the app other than paying for the 1st 4 songs then paying for the full album. This update mentions some 'special offer' for those early adopters such as myself who basically paid twice for the same thing. I have yet to see anything in the app that refences any 'bonus' and I'm wondering if anyone else has? It's one thing to know I've paid twice for the material, but to later promise a bonus and not come through is kind of like opening a healed wound, then throwing salt in it. Am I missing something? If they're not gonna' give this 'special offer' to early adopters, why bring it up & remind us of how we got burnt in the first place? My rating still stands but I don't understand why the empty promises on top of charging us almost twice? And I mean gone! So I have one question: on the left under Top In-App Purchases there are 2, 1 for Crystalline and 1 to pre-purchase all. Does anyone know how to pre-purchase all? I've looked all around & haven't found a way yet..Version: 1.5

Bjork is out thereThe stars above are more graphically stunning than the white pixel blobs here, I give 3 for trying something different and unique. My guess; Fans of this will be as rare and unique as Bjork.UPDATE: I played around with it more I stumbled across a way to get the included song to play in it's entirety. Graphically it's actually pretty cool. Better than the 3 orange stars above..Version: 1.0.1

No iOS 9 supportUseless now 😓.Version: 1.5

LameSeems like a con to buy the album track by track. Deleted it.Version: 1.0.1

Compatibility Issues? The app no longer seems to work properly since I loaded this onto my iPad pro. I am assuming that it is a compatibility with the current iOS. Anyone else have this problem?.Version: 1.5

Whole lot of nothingWhen you open this app, you hear an old man telling you how wonderful the universe is. Then, you see a set of 3D constellations. Each constellation leads you to another app that....you have to pay for. So, basically what you're getting is a menu for buying more apps. That's all this thing is. What's more, only one of the apps is available. All the rest simply say, 'Coming Soon'. I'm not against bjork making money and I'd willingly pay for something worthwhile, but this so far has proven to be a total waste..Version: 1.0.1

Disappointing and DISHONEST!!! 0 starsI have a 3G. Im a big fan of Bjork and have been looking forward to hearing the new album. Just bought the first track for a whopping £1.49. I can't listen to it or play the app AT ALL!!!! The intro screen is also really jerky. What a massive disappointment. If a 3G is not capable of running this app why isn't that stated? Huh? THIS IS A RIP OFF! I have now reported the problem and I was directed to a support page where it states that even a 3GS will not run this properly and the developer "worked really hard" to make it work on a 3GS bur that it may not. So WHY WHY WHY wasn't this stated before I paid all that money? Massively upset with everyone involved. Bjork if you are reading this why would you allow me to be conned like this in your name? I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!! >:o( If you have an iPhone 3G DO NOT DOWNLOAD CRYSTALLINE because you can't watch it as it was not designed for your phone ! ! ! This is a DISHONEST way of making money out of people and I am disgusted..Version: 1.0.1

What? After a long absence, unable to use. Not one of the modules work anymore. In addition, I bought all the songs at the time, and they are lost completely. By the way, where the heck is settings to re-download previous purchases? How disappointing it is, after all this time, to want to listen to those songs and then they're not there anymore. Deleting immediately.Version: 1.5

RefundIf you aren't going to let it work on iOS 9 I want my money back. Useless!.Version: 1.6

Not WorkingI used to love this app! But I downloaded it on my iPhone XR and it doesn’t work (doesn’t play any sound at all and the scores are scrunched at the bottom of the screen). The support page states that they will not be able to answer all emails, so I am stuck having spent 18$ for nothing..Version: 1.6
