Björk: Biophilia for Positive User Reviews

I love this app. This App honestly blew my breath away. Björk is light years ahead of other artists..Version: 1.5

All you need is Bjork! What an amalgamation of all thats great about the iPhone. I feel like I've got my own reactable or bjorktable! Love moving around on the main screen and mixing the different samples together. This is like musical crack. Thank you Bjork!.Version: 1.5

Absoluteley stunning!Sadly there is not a single flaw i can point out in this app, beautifully designed and presented in high quality retina display on my iPad 2. Simply amazing work here, well done to the whole team! I definetley recomend to everyone!.Version: 1.0.1

Highly InnovativeOnce again, Bjork pushes the envelope! The score constantly crashes on Cosmology on a iPad1...please fix in a future update so that I can fully enjoy this..Version: 1.0.1

CoolNice work bjork, check this out ppl, very cool.Version: 1.0.1

Bjork fork orc pork york cork storkColbert got that song stuck in my head. next thing i know i bought this app. its hypnotism.Version: 1.5

Interesting and SOMETIMES involvingThere are a lot of good things in the app version of Biophilia. Some of the apps are real works of art (Virus). Sometimes they shine in 'play song' mode (the astonishing visuals of Hollow), sometimes they shine in interactive mode (my first encounter with Thunderbolt was a thrill). And sadly, some of them don't shine at all (Mutual Core). There's also a lot of interest in the 'animation' and 'score' modes for each app. Despite my own musical training, I think the 'animation' mode actually does the best job of illustrating the structure and flow of each song. Someone has done an excellent job of translating sounds into simple visual cues, using shapes and colours. It's generally my preferred way to listen to the songs in full. Hmm. The songs. I'm not a Bjork 'fan'. I'm intermittently interested in her music. And I think my reaction to the music in Biophilia is that it's intermittently engaging. Some of the songs seem to be based on fairly thin material that doesn't hold up over 5 minutes. And sometimes the apps, and the 'animation' version in particular, actually make me more aware of just how little is there. But there are also some fine songs, perhaps the finest being 'Cosmogony' which ironically is the song you can hear for free. 'Crystalline' is also strong. The one thing the app version of Biophilia is TRULY lacking at the moment is a simple 'play album' button. I think I'd actually get into the songs more if I felt like I was being encouraged to just listen to them once in a while..Version: 1.3

BiophiliaphiliaFantaaaaaaaaaaaaastic. Gorgeous to explore the intricacies of the music with the score (despite silly midi tones in score playing), apps for each song are completely delightful, intriguing - and you are in danger of learning something from many of them, too. Full of wonderful, beautiful, stark, dreamy, Bjork-ish aesthetics. WELL worth the very reasonable price.. don't bother buying one, you will only want to buy them all; and so you should..Version: 1.5

OutstandingBiophilia is a visually stunning and entertaining app for anyone with an appreciation for music and art. A+.Version: 1.0.1

If you like Bjork you'll love this.Strange and beautiful animations..Version: 1.0.1

DecentThe app itself is fantastic, if it was my own work I would be offend by low ratings, though the in app prices are a bit steep. I do feel like its a work of art however, or at least like you're walking round an art museum..Version: 1.0.1

GeniusSuch an amazing concept. A return to form for Björk..Version: 1.0.1

GeniusBork is a genius. I'm in love with her..Version: 1.3

True geniusNever one to follow trends but create them, another amazing notch her belt. Bring on the album.Version: 1.0.1

Brilliant! This is music exploration at its most brilliant. Organic yet structured play, Bjork's created a music app that let's you hear, see and touch the music, rearrange and record it. My six year old got a small preview when I downloaded it this morning, and it was all he talked about on the way to school. A fantastic use of the iPad and the most innovative app I own..Version: 1.5

Love the concept of this appI think this app is the early 21st century equivalent of the 12" album cover. It brings the audience into the artist's world in a way that music alone doesn't. Having said that, it gives a LOT more than the best album cover ever; games, lyrics, musical scores, musical instruments. The only thing I miss is the ability to simply play the album without interacting with the app. To do that, It seems I need to buy the album as well, which seems a bit steep given the price of the App. I think having bought the app, I should have the album unlocked on itunes. Or at least have a significant discount on the album. Having said all that, the music is excellent. Bjork's singing somehow just keeps getting better. The sections where she's multitracking harmonies can take the breath away, she's simultaneously totally in control and organically chaotic. They show she's not just someone born with a great voice: she understands music at the highest level..Version: 1.5

Once again, way ahead of her time and the music industry.Play, listen and create. I think this might be the future of music inspired buy art, nature and technology. I hope there is more to come. PG .Version: 1.0.1

Surprising, beautifulSo many times while playing this my son and I would laugh or exclaim just from surprise or delight, not because something was funny or shocking but simply because it made beautiful sense. A really different app I would recommend to anyone. And the Bjork music is starkly wonderful as well..Version: 1.5

Coolest app everIve redownloaded the app from the iCloud- never bought any of the song app before- and this morning everything was bought right when I opened up the app. Freaky. But whatever I like the album and the app. Great concept..Version: 1.5

Lovely songs but...Could the app be tweaked, so the songs could load into the iPhone music player so we could listen without having to run the visuals? Would use a lot less battery that way, and could listen while doing something else on the phone..Version: 1.1

ArtyVery interesting work of art. 4 stars rather than 5 as it should be clearer that you have to purchase each of the apps as they become available, but I am happy to do that as the first was worth the money in my opinion..Version: 1.0.1

A good conceptA good idea but the execution needs some work; some of the visual interaction is well done with a retro minimal style. It is kind of dumb that you have to continually download what is approaching 1 gigabyte of data every time there is an app update..Version: 1.3

Mind-expandingArt math science 3d spatial oh yeah music..Version: 1.5

GreatGreat app, really good.Version: 1.5

Brilliant and creativeI love Bjork and was highly anticipating this release, from the first download to the complete Version i have been entranced and captivated by the use of technology and visuals. I hope this becomes the standard of Bjork albums to come.Version: 1.3

Bjork supremeBjork (and her team) delivers the goods here. This looks a fabulous concept for any Bjork fan or anyone looking for a popular cultural experience of true originality. If you're not a fan of Bjork or of anything that might stretch your imagination then don't bother. But I love it; I bought the first song capsule without hesitation despite the price, you get so much more than an mp3 file here. Looking forward to further instalments, hopefully at a slightly lower price..Version: 1.0.1

There are no wordsJust download it. Amazing..Version: 1.5

BiophiliaAbsolutely astonishing on every level... Aesthetically stunning, interactively challenging, & gives a truly cosmological dimension to Bjork's unique & beautiful music. Her voice soars to the heavens. Wow!.Version: 1.5

10 years later…And this app is still amazing. While it doesn’t fill the whole screen…it’s still incredibly fun and sounds even better now on an iphone 12 max. Oh and Björk is queen. She really is..Version: 1.6

Magical but practicalI have purchased this app for myself and my 7 & 10 year olds having watched a documentary on the making of the album with them. We live on a small island where luckily my children have the opportunity to sing in a choir and learn piano. We are very close to nature and 'real weather' every day. My youngest daughter often philosophises on the pure beauty of the natural world and the human relationship to it. children do have this innate understanding that somehow becomes lost to some people when they become adults. This App opens up a whole new world of learning, experimentation and technology we would not otherwise have exposure to living here in a small disconnected place. As a botanical horticulturalist and artist I myself fully relate and subscribe to the concept of Biophilia....simply magical, mind blowing yet logical and with true practical application. thank you Bjork and all others involved in making it. Price point is very good too!.Version: 1.5

Problems with appI downloaded the app and purchased a few of the individual apps. But when I tap the music note to return to the home screen the app freezes, it turns the colour of the main screen and the background music keeps playing. I've had to download everything several times and it keeps happening. It us still great though and I love it!.Version: 1.2

My kids love this appSo the mom in the house is the Björk fan. Download the app. It’s novel, fun, and neat to have from a fan’s perspective. Enjoyed it for a while, but it’s a rather large app, so we’re thinking we’ll take this app off to make room for other apps. No, not happening. My kids love this app. No sooner do I think “ok, the kids have had their fill of this app, I’ll go remove it” then do I find the kids listening to Björk while huddled around the iPad playing this app. So it stays. We have six kids, and I have seen kids ranging in age from 2 years to 9 years enjoy this app (our oldest is 9, so I can’t speak from experience beyond that, but I imagine our oldest will continue to enjoy this app even when he turns 10)..Version: 1.5

A great way to enjoy Biophilia!First of the, the music is amazing as expected. Apps like Thunderbolt, Solstice and Crystalline are well made and don't get too dull. You can revisit them without getting the urge to stop playing after a few minutes. Crystalline is really addictive! Some of the others are not as great and get boring pretty quickly. There's some 'in the middle' apps such as Moon and Virus. Although clearly well made and initially enjoyable, the fun wears thin after a while. If only we could alter the song in line with the original like you can with Thunderbolt and Solstice then Moon and Virus would be much better. The music animations are really good. You get a better feel for the songs when visualising them - and the visualisations are easy to understand. These songs are almost acoustic versions of the album tracks and they have been stripped back a lot. For musically minded people (i.e. those who play and understand composition) it might be a lot more enjoyable. There's scores for each track so you can play it yourself. The idea is good and the apps are well put together, but I was expecting a little more. Still, overall it is worth it and I have started playing it a lot. You're not just getting apps, you get scores, essays, lyrics and animations. My last review was 3/5 but I felt that was a little harsh. After taking time with the app I appreciate it much more..Version: 1.4

Love it, except...I would like the tracks to be "purchased" on iTunes as a result of buying the app. Seems strange to pay again for the actual audio tracks. At least enable background music playing and a simple playlist so I can listen with my screen off and without using extra GPU and battery. Dropped a star as a result of these issues..Version: 1.5

Nice extension of the albumTrippy, pretty and fun. The initial universe is free, but track by track games are in app purchases. Worth checking out if you have any interest in what this progressive and unpredictable artist is up to..Version: 1.0.1

Amazing!My favourite app yet..Version: 1.0.1

BjorkBrilliance. Pushing boundaries yet again.Version: 1.0.1

Cutting edgeThis app is fantastic - no other singer/artist has done this before. It bothers me that people expect to pay £2 for such a gem. Do you ever think how many man-hours have been invested I to creating such an ambitious project?!? Get real! You not only get the song, you get the multi sensory experience! That's why you pay more than the usual 80p for a song in iTunes (song, game, lyrics, graphics = £1.50, more than fair!) Stop being sooo tight, it's embarrassing to read how tight you people are and how you expect everything to be for free..Version: 1.0.1

A glimpse of the future.A stunning use of the iPad technology. Whether you love or hate Bjork, you have to admire the way she pushes the boundaries. This merges the album with apps. We need a new word for it. AppAlbum? Absolutely mind-blowing..Version: 1.0.1

UniqueThe team have set themselves a brave and unique challenge in creating this app. I've never seen anything quite like it before, it's certainly an innovative way to experience music. I'm not entirely sure how my choices in the app affect the song but its an interesting ride nonetheless. Only one app is released at the moment, I look forward to seeing what the rest have in store..Version: 1.0

Fun, but it has some bugs.I can't wait to stick my iPad under an ELMO and let my students experiment with a few of these apps. All sorts of lessons to be learned about pitch and timing here. But the other reviewers are right; you can't buy one or two apps and then go back and just pay the difference if you want the rest of them. Make a careful decision about what you want before you buy so that you don't wind up having to pay for the apps twice. That being said, here are my suggestions ... Buy Solstice, Thunderbolt, Sacrifice, and Hollow ... Consider buying Crystalline if you want a more game-like app ... and Dark Matter is like Simon Says in an aural theory kind of way, but it gets old quickly -- Moon is a nice composition activity, but it gets old, too. Don't bother with Virus, and Especially don't bother with Mutual Core, which is boring and crashes..Version: 1.3

Bjorks never been one to conform to expectationsNow i just needto figure out how to get the midi data out.Version: 1.5

One of her best!Worth it for the intro alone. Sure, it's a way to sell the new album. But there's SO much goodness for free. Much more innovative, surprising, stimulating, inspiring than just dropping it on iTunes. Beyond that this is shaping up to be perhaps Bjork's best work. This is a great app! Don't miss it..Version: 1.2

Innovative, a must-try music appWhile I'm no big fan of Bjork, the song apps are really worth playing with. However, it does require time to become skillful with the song apps, but once you're there, they are really innovative and fun. I personally really like maybe half of the song apps, that's actually a good ratio. The visualizations are stunningly great, even if the user interface is not intuitive at first. This is something "not been done before" that is clearly worth 10$ for anyone with a deep interest in music and music creation..Version: 1.4

Serious errorsThe app is very beautiful and engaging but there are serious problems with it. It keeps crashing and freezing leaving the music playing continuously and just showing a flat coloured screen with no way to stop or return the page. Please can it be fixed so I can continued to enjoy it otherwise I'll give up altogether..Version: 1.2

Outstanding!Bjork shows she is still at the leading edge of musical innovation. No other artist has ever done anything close to this. The whole concept is amazing!!. Love the way you can travel through space and get hints of the future tracks. Also very impressed she's added the musical score that you can follow. Can't wait for the next track to come out..Version: 1.0.1

VisionaryThis app as a conceptual art piece / galactic experience / sound installation / virtual hang out realm is one of the coolest ways anyone has ever released an album! It is a beautiful realm in which one can immerse themselves in sound an explore different song realms. Hope I’m not spoiling it for you... People complaining about in app purchases, or early adopters paying more, I mean you are supporting one of the most visionary artists of our time, so to be haggling over a few dollars seems pretty ridic!.Version: 1.6

InnovativeI don't understand why some people are so spiteful about this release. As a bjork fan, the album itself has some appealing content. I found the app to be great and I learned a lot about each song. It has its flaws, sure, but I truly respect this new creative endeavor of hers..Version: 1.3

A magnificent experianceBjork and her collaborators can be congratulated for presenting an exciting concept on how we might listen (and interact) with music. Finally, here is a musician who understands - and rises to the challenges of the contemporary music..Version: 1.5

All songs & sections now available: truly inspiring. Future classicAll sections are now available. The graphics are truly inspiring, engaging and intriguing. As another reviewer pointed out, some of it has a retro feel. Other sections are unlike anything I have seen before, and beautifully executed. Perhaps this also reflects my relative inexperience of iPad/iPhone apps to say that I am greatly impressed by what these artists have achieved. It's what I would expect from Bjork. Her last couple of releases have been rather impenetrable, specialist and requiring of the right mood and mind frame to tune into. Biophilia is a breakthrough way of appreciating her music, supporting but not explaining, rather complementing, suggesting, nudging and stimulating. Bjork has maintained the gift of producing challenging art, which is not always pretty or comfortable. It's not a game, or a music video, yet there are elements of these. The experience can be customised and personalised and, by so doing, perhaps get a deeper understanding of the songs' themes. Some of the graphics and animations are incredible and unexpected. There are some beautiful fonts employed, too. I can't say I 'get' Biophilia yet. I probably never will and I don't think think it is a realistic expectation for it. Enjoy the challenge, the craft and the beauty..Version: 1.3

Great App ...Hey. Love the app. BUT mine keeps crashing when I try to load the score for Crystalline :( Any ideas???.Version: 1.0.1

A musician that dares to lead (and follow through)Before this update, I considered orphaning an iOS device (at 10) just to “hold” this “LANDMARK” forever. That statement, of course, betrays my bias for my regard for Björk’s work. Nonetheless, I’m very thankful to any artist who “pulls their work forward” to the benefit of their fans without any obligation to do so. And Apple deserves a nod for that ethos, methinks. (Most importantly, TY to the ALL the individuals who had a hand in the “refactoring”. ++Good.).Version: 1.6

Björk # 1She has done it again, very innovative and clever..Version: 1.1

This is what art, interaction, and music should beIi love this app. I get lost in the universe created around this music. It is worth every penny I paid for it..Version: 1.5

Embrace new ways to reach out to fans! While the music industry supposedly struggles to counterfeit "pirates" of the Internet, artists like Björk have embrace new ways to reach out to fans. This is the perfect example of musicians using iOS apps as promotional tools. Björk has collaborated with artists, designers, scientists, instrument makers, writers and software developers to create an extraordinary multimedia exploration of the universe and its physical forces, processes and structures – of which music is a part. Each in-app experience is inspired by and explores the relationships between musical structures and natural phenomena, from the atomic to the cosmic. You can use Biophilia to make and learn about music, to find out about natural phenomena, or to just enjoy Björk’s music..Version: 1.1

SuperbGreat app to compliment great music.Version: 1.5

.Words can't explain how innovative and genius this app/album is. So I'm not going to..Version: 1.5

Please add a play all function!I love the functionality of the app and as always, I love Bjork's music! But as at least one other reviewer has requested, please allow the tracks to be downloaded as mp3s once bought, or at the very least add a play all function to the app. I know the Album is designed to be interacted with but it's not always practical. I'm at work now, illustrating and would love to have the album playing as I work but don't want to have to keep interrupting my workflow to alter the app. Also, I Dj an eclectic bar using my laptop and would love to be able to include a couple of these tracks in my set. Thanks!.Version: 1.3

Amazing 💩!!!This is the most amazing interactive musical app and experience I have ever had. I kind of like Bjorks music but this combination is groundbreaking. I would quickly start spending more money on music if my favorite bands started doing this. This is the 💩!!!.Version: 1.5

It crashes! It crashes so much it's basically unusable, which is a shame since it's so good..Version: 1.4

MasterfulBjörk is a comet blazing across the heavens while her contemporaries pander to the mainstream. I believe this was the first ever album released as an app. The instrumentation developed to democratise music and this artistic experience is mind blowing. Bjork’s work will be studied by future generations as masterpieces..Version: 1.6

Something new each timeThis is definitely something for the fans, as many of the reviewers have pointed out that anyone else just "don't get it". All the advertising and press in the run up to the app release stated it was a unique way to experience the album "Biophilia", so why is everyone complaining about paying for each part of the app?? Its not just a track you get for your money, but an experience of animations, essays, and games, all well worth £1.49. I guess those complaining are the illegal downloaders who refuse to pay in the first place... Also those complaining about having to purchase again on a different device clearly haven't noticed the 'restore purchases' option. I've paid once for each add on and have it across 3 devices. I have been playing with the app since it was released and I am still finding new sounds and song previews, and the ability to change the sound of "Crystalline" using a very simple crystal collecting game is genius. I have had one experience of teh app crashing, but it has only happened once. Every other time it has been flawless. Music should be experienced and enjoyed like this, and I personally cannot wait for the next song to become available, which I am more than happy to pay for!.Version: 1.1

Looks greatMenu is gorgeous and possibly most innovative app I have ever seen HOWEVER I can't even buy the in app features for some 'Unknown Reason'...... I can buy other stuff but not this. Why? I don't have a clue- wish I did tho cos I would buy them!.Version: 1.2

BiophiliaAn amazing app truly shows off the power of an iPad. The app combines Bjork's music with games and music creation apps. If you only get 1 app get this one!.Version: 1.5

Beautiful, bjork redefines music againThis app is stunning. I have always loved Bjork and this unique app allows you to explore and interact with her music in a new dimension. Not to be missed..Version: 1.0.1

Magical Interactive ArtReflecting notions of omnipotent observation witnessing ones place in the macrocosm and microcosm echoing a spiritual point of departure while allowing interaction and creation with visual, musical and touch sensations this app is exhilarating and relaxing piquing intrigue and curiosity while soothing the nerves..Version: 1.6

In app pre order???Bjork always delivers something interesting and special but this is a whole new dimension, the only problem I'm having is finding where the in app pre order for the other parts is,any help???.Version: 1.0.1

Immersive experienceI've downloaded this app (+crystalline) for almost a week now and i interacted with it everyday. love the score and animation sections, visually captivating and contains different mixes/versions of the songs. the crystalline game is addictive as every time you play the game, you rearrange the structure of the song. there are also visuals when you play the songs, like a music video. the essays, however, are rather disappointing, needs to be much more 'meaty'; there isn't really that much info in them at all. and i wish there was some way the game can be saved so i can play my version of the song anytime i want. overall, brilliant!!! can't wait to check out the other apps!.Version: 1.0.1

AmazingFor any one who likes Bjorks work this is a great addition. Give it a try and explore like she does with her songs and you can get some interesting results. You do have to purchase in app but that should not deter the true Bjorks fan. Well done Bjorks..Version: 1.2

BEST APP I EVER PURCHASEDI love this application to pieces i think that it was worth the money and It would be AWESOME if it was made for mac also THANKS Björk.Version: 1.5

An Engaging Music ExperienceTo the few people who rate this app one star and complain "it seems like a con to make you buy the album"... my answer to you is "der!"... the whole point of this app is to experience Bjork's new album 'Biophilia' in an interactive way. She's releasing the album one song app at a time via this mother app - hence this being promoted as the first "app album". It's well worth the little money per song app purchase - the two apps released thus far (Crystalline and Virus) have been beautifully made and are entirely engaging. I have been absorbed into these apps and the music very quickly. I can't wait to get each song and see what creative and engaging app will accompany it. Amazing work Bjork! A whole new frontier in music listening has been born..Version: 1.1

Awesome!I play with this app almost every day and love using the MIDI-out on my piano but when using the app, it shuts off my phone and Wi-Fi signals so no one can get hold of me while it's in use otherwise it's an awesome experience and making music with the apps is just easy and fun! You should do the same for the other albums, I'd buy them all! Ást Jakk x.Version: 1.4

Amazing!By far the best and most incredible app I've downloaded! Bjork is a genius and her style and flare has not been lost... If anything,... She has pioneered the music app for the iPad... AWESOME!!!.Version: 1.0.1

BiophiliaJust to clarify, when this app is downloaded, you get a song with it as well, called Cosmogony, which is audible when you touch it in the song list, it's not listed as a song in the galaxy as it's the song for the "Mother App". So you are actually getting a song for free. the Biophilia app..... i love love love it!.Version: 1.0.1

How do i prepurchase t... for $10.99Love it, will get it all, assuming that the second in app purchase is the whole lot for $10.99, would love to do this, would like to know how as I can't access it through the navigation, if thisis not available then it is false advertizing and should be removed. Love it bjork, once again a debut by you..Version: 1.0.1

Great but please add AirPlay supportGreat but please add AirPlay support.Version: 1.2

I love bjorkFirst I bought the cd....well actually first I fell in love with her back in the late 80s when the sugar cubes was on SNL then I bought each of her solo albums as they were released along with singles videos movies bootlegs. I purchased the actual cd first but eventually bought the app a few months ago and definately unlike some of the other reviewers I do not regret it. Like her music I am still learning and hearing something new when I open it up. This is not really something that you can expect to get full satisfaction from on the first couple times you play with it which is a good thing cos what would be the point afterwards. I think it was a great purchase and every time I go on it it takes me to another galaxy as intended.....oh it's also cool as hell if you smokin some good green!.Version: 1.5

Wonderful app. Pre-purchase missingBjork is a genius. This app is wonderful. Amazing way to experience Bjork's music. Unfortunately she IS ahead of her time and many reviewers won't be able to appreciate the beauty of her art. Ignorance sometimes is not bliss, but pure (shallow and short-sided) ignorance. I hope she is successful in this project so others come our way. But I do think the developers are missing out on a great sales opportunity by not letting fans "pre-purchase the whole app" as listed in the app store. That would have been an instant buy for me. As it is, I'm sticking to the free intro and free first song. (There IS a free song - whiny reviewers out there - so there's plenty to experience for free...) As wonderful as this app is, I can't justify paying almost $20 for all songs, especially considering I'll also be buying the album....Version: 1.0.1

Crashes and GlitchesWhile I love the Biophilia album and the concept of this app, I have had continual crashes, often when switching activities and noticed the app glitches OFTEN if playing Crystalline for too long, making it unplayable. I will say that my first run through this app definitely stirred emotions in me, and it was a really cool experience overall. The scores and animations are a very nice added bonus. The replay ability though for a 13 dollar app is weak, sadly. I still love this app and don't regret finally picking it up but for 13 bucks this thing should run better than what it does....Version: 1.5

AmazingFun and intriguing app with lots of visual and audio stimulation.Version: 1.4

GroundbreakingThis app is a compelling and visionary experiment at the edge of the future of the audio, software, music, entertainment experience. The people who are giving this app such negative reviews are absolutely insane. The level of entitlement of some App Store patrons is sickening and abusive. One claims that all music should be free, which as we all know is a sustainable solution for artists and musicians. Another complains that software engineers who don't have time to develop, test and ship for two different 3D rendering engines (iPhone 3 supports only OpenGL 1.2, while iPhone 3GS and later use OpenGL 2.0) are awful, horrible and deningrant. Being insulting like this is completely un-called for. Maybe they're just busy engineers?.Version: 1.1

AwesomeLove Love Love. as long as we have artists like Bjork then all is OK. Such a wonderful app... cant wait for the rest. Cosmology is utter HEAVEN!!!!!.Version: 1.0.1

Amazing and beautifulThe title says it all, ive never seen an app like this. very creative and love her courage! xx.Version: 1.2

Bjork is the bestI have been a fan for over 20 years saw her when the sugarcubes was touring with new order nothing that her musical genius disappoints but the one thing that does is I just wanted to listen to the cd all the way though I purchased on ITunes most nights I listen to the goddess falling asleep with my headphones on had to purchase cd to listen without having to navigate but besides that 5 stars voice so beautiful touches a deep part of my soul.Version: 1.5

WowThat's one small step for the Icelandic Idol... One giant leap for App-kind. Love this app, can't wait for the rest of the album!.Version: 1.0.1

Wow!Very impressive! Thanks Björk!.Version: 1.0.1

InterestingGood but no Gyroscope support..Version: 1.0.1

Awesome appHours of fun here..Version: 1.4

Extremely good app!Gets you straight in to biophilias world created by bjork on album! worth every penny!.Version: 1.5

Captivating, BUT..Amazing and captivating game but definitely NOT willing to pay $1.99 per song/level in the future, you have an amazing game here don't seriously charge $2 per level after downloading for FREE thats kind of false pretenses.. I paid the $1.99 for the "crystalline" level because curiosity killed the cat and I really did like it like I said very captivating gameplay but I see that there are a number of future levels in the works that are about to be released in the near future, please don't ruin the game by charging $1.99/new level why even list this as a FREE game if that's the case charge $10-20 from the get go and get it over with. Fool me once shame on me (even though I was really interested in playing out the level to see what it was about, that's not really the issue since it turned out to be so good), but fool me twice in future updates that charge $1.99 to play the next level: Negative..Version: 1.0.1

Great music and high concept appBjörk has done something really special here. This app is unconventional, experimental, and delightfully immersive. I experienced her album through this app, and I've really enjoyed it..Version: 1.5

InterestingInteresting but I wish I hadn't paid so much for it. Not when you can get the likes of GarageBand and figure for so much less.Version: 1.5

An amazing musical experience. With this application you can simply understand and feel the music of Biophilia. Such an awesome way to deliver an idea and a concept. This is the future of music..Version: 1.5

Great :DAn awesome app it just needs more games or something like that.Version: 1.5

A must for music lovers and creative innovators.Downloaded this app as soon as it became available. Visually, it is stunning. Opens with the same David Attenborough voice over that the Manchester shows did, which I'm really pleased with as that was a great opening. Apps I'm most looking forward to are Thunderbolt, Moon and Mutual Core, as the tracks when performed live were mind-blowing. She really is the only TRUE original artist out there, and makes so called other magicians look like shysters in comparison. I've been a longtime Björk fan, and have followed her since the Sugarcubes days, but this is my favourite material since Vesperine. It's simply brilliant..Version: 1.0.1

Experience something differentThis is amazing value. $1.99 in app purchase for two songs with a game and multimedia features, all with Bjork's unique style. Move over Lady Gaga, Bjork is truly fresh and original..Version: 1.0.1

This changes the music industry forever.Pros: Interactive. Innovative. Creative. Beautiful. Far more than an enhanced way to experience an album. Cons: Another (but less offensive) way for record labels and artists to make more money from their audience... However, considering how easily music is downloaded illegally these days, this is a fantastic and inspiring solution. Consumers who pay for this product get much more than just a bunch of songs..Version: 1.1

Wonderful app but still needs fixes!I used this app for my old devices and it worked perfectly, but there are still some flaws for using this app on the iPhone X. The score compositions are still buggy with everything being flattened or rather super stretched. Please do an update! Other than that, everything else works!.Version: 1.6

Mesmerising app with more to comeAfter a rather confusing 5 minutes of tapping and swiping, I finally discovered the rather delightful features of this surreal app. I wasn't disappointed. After a moment spent checking out the "cosmos" and admiring the workings of the "cosmogany" track, I didn't hesitate on purchasing the "crystalline" content. It must be said that while yes, there is going to be fair amount of paid content for this app, as a consumer, you do get to listen to the tracks you pay for. Bear in mind the record's not out until September, that's a big plus for any and all Bjork fans. Oh yeah, and David Attenborough narrates a spectacularly pretentious intro. Highly recommended..Version: 1.0.1

This is the best music app on the market.Björk has taken music and technology to the next level. You must buy this app! The introduction by David Attenborogh is worth it alone. One of the greatest musical experiences by one of the greatest artist of our time, dont miss out on this..Version: 1.4

BjörkAlways creating trends instead of following..Version: 1.0.1

What a fantastic app!I haven't been able to put it down! Totally worth the price!.Version: 1.5

FantasticMore proof that Björk is one of the most innovative and important artists of our time. Truly engaging and thought-provoking, this app will have you thinking about music and it's relationship with time and space in new ways. I can't wait for the other apps to start emerging. One to watch....Version: 1.0.1

What a nice surprise :)I'm thoroughly enjoying this app. I've been taking my time with it, exploring every nook & cranny. Well thought out. Well executed. Look forward to downloading all the song apps from this 'mother' app. Kudos to björk!.Version: 1.2

Certainly worth every penny!!!I saved up for this app as I love the concept of music, technology and nature at the same time; wow! it is now my most used and inspiring app. Although it seemed expensive at the time of purchase, it is certainly worth it. Very addictive and interesting. Thanks to Bjork and team. Rory.Version: 1.5

Beautiful, mesmerizing, and just incredibleBiophilia is an amazing app, with amazing graphics, and songs that let you escape reality and enter a 3D world where beautiful music is played and one can interact and explore this magnificent realm. Biophilia has an eerie yet relaxing feel to it. I love how soothing the music is, and how a sensitive person can be brought to tears with it's mesmerizing and hypnotic music. Not yet does it have much to offer, but soon there will be more ways to interact with it. When you first turn it on, a voice and video walks you through it and explains how to use it, and what it is. I do recommend this app, but just know that it only has a few activities to offer now..Version: 1.1

GorgeousThis app is a true work of art. I think we will eventually see Biophilia as the Sergeant Peppers of music apps..Version: 1.5

Appophilia...SUBLIME ~ this is the app i have dreamt of... Bjork has realised a conceptual, aesthetic, audio~visual cosmos that takes 21st century technology into a thrilling, sensory, inter~active 'new wave' ... THANK YOU!.Version: 1.5

Superb App!!!I absolutely love this app! I am not the most musically literate person however this app has taught me so much about the music and held my interest entirely. It dives deeply into Bjorks process and structure of her music and as you progress through the apps your appreciation for her songs increase exponentially as you begin to understand, connect and feel the sounds. It really does make you feel... Highly recommended app!!.Version: 1.3

It does have a free songIn contrast to what other reviewers have said, the first song - Cosmogony - is included free with the app. But the rest are a bit pricey at £1.49 each - so it drops a star for missing the advertised option to pre-buy the whole album for £6.99..Version: 1.0.1

InterestingI understand the songs are supposed to be educational but they didn’t seem like a real songs that I would listen to normally I thought it was a bit silly when I first bought one of the songs to be honest. But now I’ve gone and bought all the songs. It actually does what it’s supposed to do. I’m not really sure what situation would call for this app to be used, ill give 5 stars because it does what it is meant to do: An interactive album with interactive songs that you buy individually. It’s basically just an album; the music was pretty interesting so I’m not sure anyone else would like this sort of thing..Version: 1.2

Extraordinarily BrilliantWhat an amazing concept brought to fruition. This app/album redefines what an album can be. The 'listener' is given the choice of being as interactive or as passive as desired. Either way, the execution is remarkable. This is not pop, or necessarily even melodic in the traditional sense. Persons looking for 'pretty' may not find it here. As an (visual) artist, I appreciate Bjorks exploration of the audio palette, dark to light, strident to soothing. I'll go out on a limb and suggest its not unlike Messiaen in that is 'experiential' and explores boundaries. Visually, the app is everything you could want. Smooth, fluid, hard, geometric, loose, tight, organic, engineered, fantastic, scientific. Again, you can participate and modify as much or as little as you desire. It is rewarding and challenging. You are given the tools and the boundaries are yours to define. You can even record and play back your compositions. One of the nicest aspects of all of this is that you experience the creative process. You gain insight to Bjorks thought process. You may disagree with her music- but once you undertake making your own- you better understand and appreciate the complexities and decisions made. All in all rewarding. As for price- I cannot think of a better value. It is such a rewarding and creative experience and reminds me of why I became an artist in the first place. Thank you Bjork!.Version: 1.3

Like it so farGreat idea and weirdly addictive. I have also discovered the drum n bass section which made me very happy. It is however a liitle jittery on my 3GS and it does crash for me on some orange tunnels. Would also like to see more concise instructions. It is my most played app and I'm looking forward to the addition of more songs and bug fixes. Love the concept!.Version: 1.0.1

Fantastic ,What a brilliant idea and beautifully executed app, you need to be gentle with your swipes and pinches while moving and navigating around the star field part of the Universe to get the best sounds , almost like playing with a bubble.. The two in app songs so far , are fantastic ,you can interact with the screen to create extra sounds in the music .. Perfect for stress relief ... Bjork has possibly changed the way we will interact with music in the future.. Very , very clever.....Version: 1.1

Björk pure music/soundThe goddess of sparkle, icelandic nordic pop warrior ! 5 stars ! music nature technology ! warmth , ! ... björk ..Version: 1.5

Well done.Artistic. Creative. Inspiring. Educational. Bjork makes an excellent use of the App medium as a way to connect with her listeners. The App and the song-chapters (Cosmogony and Crystalline, so far) are visually stimulating. The Crystalline game suits the song perfectly. I eagerly anticipate the remaining song-chapters. My main question is: am I able extract the song into a standalone MP3? Or am I tethered to the App, or must I repurchase? This is simply commercial semantics. Ultimately, I applaud Bjork's work, and I anxiously await the ripples throughout the musical community as her fellow artists become inspired by her work. Some wish list artists: Tool, My Morning Jacket, Neil Young, Trent Reznor, Lady Gaga, David Bowie..Version: 1.0.1

A thing of beautyI am utterly delighted by Biophilia so far, and that's with only one of the songs/'stars' available yet (Crystalline). The scope of the vision and all the thought that has gone into this just makes me very happy. I can't wait to see what the other additions have to offer, when they are released - and that is from someone who is usually a bit blasé about apps. Just great. Reading other reviews says a lot. People either 'get it' and are raving about it (like myself) or can't get it at all. Not much in between. The notion that we shouldn't pay for the songs seems insane - do people not realise the enormous amount of work and creativity that has gone into something as pioneering as this? It is a privilege to pay for something that is as good as this! If you want something previously unseen and extraordinary, you won't be disappointed. If you want to be spoon fed pap, I suggest you turn away now. This ain't it. This is genius..Version: 1.0.1

OutstandingThis woman is a genius. Even someone who is not a fan would love this app, if I start praising this app I'll gush like a belieber..... Well not quite, but Biophilia is AMAZING!!!! Buy it!!!!.Version: 1.2

How doni ore purchase? How to I pre purchase the album. I already bought crystalline but can't find any other options?.Version: 1.0.1

The next levelThis app and its accompanying album are the reasons I bit the bullet and bought an iPad. The opportunity to interact and engage with Björk's latest musical offering is incredible. This will give you a newfound appreciation for the creative process behind some of the most unique music to be released in a long time..Version: 1.1

Beautiful, innovate and mesmerizingBjork is clearly the most innovative artist of our time, combining her music with interactive art apps by Scott Snibbe and others, into the world's first app album. It's beautiful and innovative and a delight to explore. Each song has a unique app which allows the user to guide the Bjork song (some apps more than others). She even made a whole new musical notation system which is far more intuitive than traditional notation, along with all the lyrics, included in an interactive format. The idea is to engage with the music in an interactive, exploratory and memorable manner, which is perhaps closer to the experience a musician has than someone listening passively during the morning commute. The app album will appeal to die-hard Bjork fans and Bjork-novices alike, and anyone interested in a creative new way to "explore" music, or get excited about science (the theme of the app is science/nature/universe). There is a galaxy of stars (each corresponding to a different song/app) with an intro by David Attenburough. My favorite app is Virus, which tells a love story of a virus slowly killing a cell. If you save the cell you don't get to the end of the song. But they are all amazing and unique and it's worth buying the whole app album to get the full experience. The app album suddenly makes music personal again. Thank you Bjork for being so creative and innovative!.Version: 1.3

Absolutely incredible! There's nothing that I can write that will convey adequately how utterly sublime, amazing, unique, original, phenomenal and ground breaking this approach to music making is! Other apps have tried to do something similar before, Futureacoustics Soundcurtain immediately springs to mind. But this just takes it somewhere new, and to whole other level. This is the future of album/app making and presentation, and what better figurehead than Bjork to do it first!.Version: 1.0.1

AwesomeBest app I have ever seen in iTunes store!.Version: 1.2

Flawed but gorgeousIt's such an understatement to say this app is ambitious in scope. The creators of these apps have tried to tackle some gigantic ideas in really fun ways -- drawing lightning bolts to make synth arpeggio sounds, learning about time signatures through phases of the moon, and writing your own music in a pretty intuitive interface, for starters. Some of these are pulled off very successfully. Hollow is essentially a music video, and a very fun one at that. The Hollow 'game' afterward, though, is an example of how some of these ideas didn't really become anything worth playing with more than once or twice. You essentially try to capture flying proteins to get them to make beats. But there are only like six, and once you've tapped the wrong protein once or twice, you're bored. Mutual Core is essentially a lo-fi music video too. You can play along, but you'll end up making the music sound strange. Thunderbolt is more fun the more you play with it. Virus is an interesting concept, but demands a lot of patience. All of the essays are worth reading; they've added a lot to my understanding of the texture and ideas behind songs like Moon, Virus and Sacrifice. In summary, some of these apps are amazing, and some are just interesting conceptual dressing for the songs. Highlights: Thunderbolt, Hollow, Crystalline. Unless you want the essays, just buy the songs: Sacrifice, Mutual Core. Be warned: it takes up an obnoxious ~750 mb of space..Version: 1.3

OutstandingComprehensive and amazing, this app is a complete musical experience. A must have for fans of Björk, providing both an original score and in depth analysis for each piece. It is also a great introduction for those less familiar with Björk's work as the songs are more accessible than some of her earlier work and each composition is released individually within the app so you are not committed to purchase a full album..Version: 1.0.1

Wow...I'm such a huge Bjork fan!!!This app left me speechless! Everything she does is genius! Almost got me teary eyed because I appreciate her music so much. Only a true Bjork fan can truly appreciate this groundbreaking work!.Version: 1.5

Wow!At first I wasn't sure what to do with this, but one evening I had my headset on and gave it another try. And it was amazing how you interact with the music and sounds, and create at times your own music by moving slowly in this universe. I can't wait for the rest of the songs to be added..Version: 1.0.1

MindblowingUtterly amazing piece of interactive audio visual artistry. Such value too - for less than the cost of a full album. This is the new way to consume music. Thank you bjork for proving yet again your mastery of sound, art and imagination. Sheer brilliance!.Version: 1.5

Genius inventionI love this app. A wonderful & unique concept. Love to all involved. I was taken by surprise David Attenborough's narrated introduction! Warmth back to you Bjork .Version: 1.0.1
