FINAL FANTASY TACTICS :WotL for Negative User Reviews

Game crashes constantlyI really like this game but it seems to crash a lot! I have the latest iPhone and my software is all up to date. I hope they fix this crashing problem....Version: 1.1.2

Come on guys..This game does not deserve more than 1 star. I played this game on PS1 and PSP. I reckon that if I didn't play this before, I'd have given more stars. Plz consider that this version is much worse than psp one. Especially the bettles can not be speeded up due to the poor touch controlling system. Once again, so so slow ( Does not mean the game speed, meaning taht it's hard to control via touching the screen.). How could people see the end???? It would take ages and ages..Version: 1.0.0

Lost dataI got to level 13 ramza and cannot save the game ? Lost the whole game infuriating that i lost all that time i don’t even want to play anymore.Version: 2.2.0

Phenomenal throwback! (When it works)$14 for an app that works sometimes?! I bought the original brand new for $10. This is just as good as the original on PS1, everything I had hoped for... except the PS1 version never froze. Additionally, the app can’t even force close properly. Square Enix has made us wait this long for an homage, yet still doesn’t execute properly. It’s a shameful abuse of their customers’ nostalgia and money. However, if they fix these extremely irritating glitches for their extremely expensive app, this review will get the full 5-star rating..Version: 2.0.0

Great game hampered by technical issuesThis is the first time I've plated FFT after hearing how amazing it is and so far the game is great, but there are a lot of technical issues that aren't game breaking, but just annoying. There's a low of slow down during spell casting and the navigation doesn't completely make use of the touch screen in the best way. Still a great game though!.Version: 1.0.0

Not the game I knewWhen I found out that the game I loved playing on PS1 was available as a mobile game I was ecstatic. And not some cheap remake either it was the ORIGINAL VERSION. Well come to find out it’s not. The gameplay is super sped up for some reason, to the point you can’t even tell what’s happening. The dialogue & attack names have all been changed when they didn’t need to be, you can barely understand what anyone’s saying because SE decided for some stupid reason that everyone should sound like old english dorks & make simple attacks confusing to first time players. It gets some points for having actual movie scenes, as it does add a bit to it & I always wondered how the characters would sound, but it’s a lot harder to maneuver characters on a phone than console. It’s still a great game, but this version leaves A LOT to be desired..Version: 2.2.0

No quicksave makes this game unplayable on mobileOne of the biggest original draws to this game was the ability to just put your phone to sleep when needed and pick it back up again later. Some battles can take hours. This game isn’t playable without a quick save and apparently even on my iPhone 11 Pro Max there’s not enough RAM to remember the battle of you receive a phone call. Absolutely awful..Version: 2.1.0

FF Tactics (almost) as it should be..Please update for plus size phones and make the annoying default switching to 120% view in battles an option toggle or something! I am enjoying the game, despite some gameplay differences with FFTA that I am not so keen on.. e.g. Archer is now very boring character use/level as some the useful skills have been given to the gunners (disable, immobilise) and Archers just have various levels of Aim. Similar issue with Dragoon's now dull skill set. Hate the time delay introduced for Magic, makes it almost useless. Dark Knight & Holy Knight skills seem to have been given favour in this game, they at least are instant action and quite powerful. No battle 'Rules' to worry about though which might be good news for FFTA players.. and can recruit monsters Please update! Please update! Please update!.Version: 1.2.0

Needs mfi controller supportPlz add bluetooth controller abilities..Version: 2.2.0

Clumsy and boringThe controls are counter-intuitive and the battle phases take way longer than necessary. Not to mention the second battle is impossible.Version: 1.2.0

Still crashesThe game is great. Why wasn’t this optimized for controllers? You get used to the touch but honestly allowing it to be used for controllers would be ideal. Also, save as often as possible and have multiple saves. The game will often crash in the middle of a battle and not pick up from where you left off. Honestly it seems like the bare minimum effort of a money grab from Square. Doesn’t even seem to be remastered in the slightest..Version: 2.2.0

Love this game just needs some mfi TLCI’ve loved FF tactics since it first released. I still think it’s the best final fantasy game but I’m disappointed with this version not being mfi compatible. The controls are kind of clunky to get used to. I’ll be glad to raise my stars to 5* right away if you could just add MFi support. Then the game would be perfect like the golden days of my teenage years playing final fantasy games deep into the night. Please give me some love. Thanks!.Version: 2.3.0

No longer Mobile Friendly! The update to 64-bit was great. However, the auto-save feature in the middle of battles has been removed in the update, and I have not advanced in the story a single battle since. Zero video game progression on a $15 iPhone game! The game is already challenging enough (which is great!) but I simply don't have 15-20 minutes to exclusively focus on my phone every time I wanna open this app to play. I used to progress through the story in small chunks with the previous auto-save feature storing all of my progress mid-battle. Now, I haven't seen a cutscene in ages as I simply don't have the time to fully commit to the game’s lengthy combat. I love Square-Enix, Final Fantasy, and the Ivalice world. But it’s 2017! A feature like mid-battle auto-save should never have been ‘outdated’. Make this mobile friendly again, or please give me a refund..Version: 2.0.0

Very poorCan't believe how bad this is considering the length of time it's taken to arrive. Graphics look like they have had no updating, it's slow,I feel totally let down by Square. Avoid at all costs until it's price drops, or it's updated with decent graphics and menus. I hope the iPad version is much better, I won't be buying it until I see it up and running after this crap port..Version: 1.0.0

HeyLost all my saved data fun game but gotta start over.Version: 2.0.0

Rotten new low for a great franchiseA poorly adapted game with clunky user interface and almost unusable controls.Version: 2.1.0

Difficult controlsI have always been a huge fan of final fantasy but the controls, mostly the map orientation , are ridiculously buggy.Version: 1.1.2

Er, it's a bit dear, init? It's also a bit clunky to control, the touch screen implementation is somewhat clumsy and its a little impenetrable at first. But it is a quality bit of classic gaming that'll keep you occupied for many hours if you persevere beyond the slow start (which, after paying such a high price, you almost certainly will do). Still, eleven quid though??! hmmm...Version: 1.0.0

Please add ChinesePlease add Chinese thank you..Version: 2.0.0

So soWas expecting better, really showing its age, old games should remain in the past. Should have bought lots of freddos instead of this..Version: 2.2.0

Too badNot a good app to play from iPhone.Version: 1.1.0

Crash crash crashLiterally crashes constantly from anything. Square promised an update last time and It's been more than a year now since then. It would be an amazing game if square actually cared about their customers and followed through..Version: 1.1.2

Please add controller support!Great game but a controller support is really needed to fully enjoy this masterpiece..Version: 2.2.0

Can we get controller support plzSeems like an easy win.Version: 2.2.0

Get FFTA insteadFor the hefty price tag I was expecting something pretty special, but this game is such a let down, For £30 more you could buy a cheap GBA and Final fantasy tactics advance which is actually an exceptional game The physics are lousy, unimaginative, almost impossible to actually just pick up and play, for instance to even progress past the first section you have to be both lucky and several fold stronger than expected of a game this scale, to even have effective abilities would improve the game several fold..Version: 1.0.0

Should be 5Please update for controller support.Version: 2.2.0

So long, $14Crashed at first battle after intro. Now just black-screens and crashes when opened, even after iPhone reboot, closing the app down, etc. Description says “works on this iPhone”. Noticed another review saying iPhone 8 has issues with it as well as iOS 11. If you’re not going to update your $14 app, at least update the description to show that it doesn’t work on certain devices/iOS versions. Want a refund - gg App Store. Fix this and I’ll be happy to update my review. But not if it takes 3.5 years like the last update apparently did..Version: 2.0.0

Lack of Quick Save Defeats the PurposeWhy release a lengthy RPG on mobile without continuing to support the Quick Save feature? I see no reason why this couldn’t be added back in due to an operating system update. If Square will continue to charge for this game this basic feature should be added back in. I was very disappointed to see it removed from the game after having purchased it!.Version: 2.2.0

Love the game but buggyI love this game and have played it through multiple times on PS and iPhone. I now have an iPhone X and have been having difficulty with latest update. If I close my phone during a battle (no more quick save) I often lose any progress and have to start again from last save. Also the app sometimes freezes while loading a save game or between cut scenes. I love the game but these aspects are frustrating!.Version: 2.0.0

Poor quality port of a great gameFinal fantasy tactics for iphone is a rushed port regardless of it's development cycle. I wouldn't be surprised if only a third of an individual worked on this port. The slowdown is present and will show itself even when menus are displayed. The visuals are clearly blurry and don't look any better than the psp version...and in fact they look worse due to the iphone sharper screen because you can see every little bit if grain and blur. The game is at times unplayable. Im using a recently reset and updated iphone4. Dont bother with this port unless you like injuring yourself..Version: 1.0.0

No controller supportFantastic game, but has no controller support. Touch controls are pretty terrible..Version: 2.2.0

Still waitingStill a great game but it makes no sense to me why you did not port the PSP version. Dark knight/onion knight class and multiplayer would have made this so much better. You could have even expanded the multiplayer for competitive ranked play..Version: 2.0.0

Bugs ruin a great game.FFT is a great game. This version however is very buggy. Constant crashes and occasional freezes cause loss of progress. Slowdowns in battle during spell casting point to a lazy, quick and dirty port. Fix the bugs and this would be 5 stars. As it stands however, the price tag is an insult..Version: 1.1.0

Good but Buggy on the 4SThe last Patch fixed the crashing bugs but since 1.1.0 and the added Retina Display support the game has slowed severely and the touch commands to scroll have been either slower or does a different command. Main concern is the overall slow down on the new patch and touch screen inputs otherwise great port, just wished they would let you do 1 player multi or something to get those bonus items..Version: 1.1.0

Um...Different names but the same game. Why do I have to pay for the iPad version of this too? Its fun but not worth two purchases. SE after the money again hmmmm???.Version: 1.1.1

This was my favorite on PS1I waited and waited for it to come down in price because it was my favorite ps game and I lost the disc. I agree with people who complain that it’s not optimized for the iPhone. I don’t have an iPad and it is a bit small for me to read on my phone. That seems like an easy fix via settings. But you cannot change the font size. I’m also not a huge fan of the touch controls as they are so small I often hit the wrong thing and that can be frustrating. But my biggest issue is that the enemies’ battle speed is way too fast for me to follow. There is no way to slow it down. I would upgrade my rating if we could adjust that in the settings because I like to see what’s happening on the battlefield. If you liked the original, you’ll like this port, and these little annoyances will probably not bother you. However, I can’t give this beloved game more than 3 stars due to the difficulty in playing due to the things I mentioned. On sale, it’s ok—I wouldn’t pay $14 for it..Version: 2.1.0

Save BugFor some reason when I bought the phone version of this game it synched with my iPad and downloaded automatically. My apps do that for some reason. Anyway, not sure if the software version is wrong for the iPad but after 18 hours of playing on the iPad (bigger screen so why not), it deleted my save file. I’d saved dozens of times without issue but suddenly it wouldn’t hold a save. I noticed this when I went to overwrite my last save after a battle and my save was gone. I’m the end it wouldn’t hold a save. It would act like it saved but if I clicked load it would say no save data found. Anyway, super annoying so I’m giving my all time favorite game 1 Star and asking the developers to fix this bug please..Version: 2.1.0

Irritating.I loved playing this game when it originally came out. When I found it on the App Store I was excited to say the least. But the game freezes CONSTANTLY on my iPhone 8S Plus. It is the most irritating thing being in the middle of playing and the game freezes for no good reason whatsoever. I would love to actually be able to play through the game without having to save after every single battle, cutscene or visit to town just so I don’t lose my progress. Absolutely irritating. Needs an update to smooth out these bugs..Version: 2.0.0

Not iPad / iPhone interchangeable.Purchased this thinking I could play this on my phone on the commute to work, and on my iPad when I got home. Unfortunately - this would require a SECOND purchase and no ability to transfer saves. Rip off. Hoping for a refund which is unfortunate because this is an amazing port and game, but that’s a really cheap move..Version: 2.1.0

UPDATED iPhone X Periodic CrashesUPDATED: Getting worse with more frequent freezing. Freezing now occurs at onset of battle character selection screen. If it gets any worse, it will borderline unplayable. Shouldn’t take oftentimes 5-10 minutes of loading, freezing, and rinse repeat +4x just to start playing! 3/5 stars Not a review of the game itself (5 stars there); more so a review of the “software”. The game crashes/freezes when loading frequently. Sometimes it takes restarting the game 3-4x before it will finally get to a successful load. Unclear how or why. There aren’t any noticeable patterns. I think for the several years I’ve used iOS, I can count on one hand the number of times a game had crashed or froze on my iPhones or iPods or iPads. This game crashes/freezes enough to warrant this review from me. Controls are intuitive for touch screen. No other issues so far (12 hours in the game)..Version: 2.0.0

Can’t Even Start A New GameI have completed the starting tutorial at least 10 times and it still won’t let me start a new game until I do the tutorial again…and again…and again. I’ve spent hours interacting with and writing down how to even optimize every step of the tutorial so I don’t skip anything and it doesn’t matter. It makes me start over the tutorial every single time. I don’t understand why onboarding for a game would prevent you from actually playing it. It makes zero sense. Not worth the money..Version: 2.3.0

Won't purr until there's no blur!I like the way the blurry shading on some of the small fonts tricks my mind into constantly trying to refocus my eyes as I read it. Was this the effect you are trying to achieve? Nice!.Version: 1.0.0

Awesome game, awful portGreat game, but it crashes every other start up..Version: 2.0.0

Needs a lot of workThe game itself is a masterpiece. I used to play the psx version and always wanted to try the psp remake, so $15 seemed reasonable to me. It is not. Every time I play this it either crashes or freezes. Battle animations are quite laggy (spells and items). This makes it virtually unplayable. You have to keep your fingers crossed for entire battles and hope you make it through before it crashes, and then save after everything you do because you know a crash is imminent. 5 stars if it was a free app. But for a $15 app to have these gamebreaking flaws, I wish I could give less than one. Please fix the bugs..Version: 1.1.2

Useless on iPadThey’ve released two versions of this game, and apparently only one works properly on iPad and doesn’t look awful. If you’re splitting them so one is for mobile and one is for iPad, SAY SO. Incredibly frustrating.Version: 2.1.0

Needs An UpdateThere’s no controller support, so your hands will hurt after playing for a while. Trying to adjust the camera, zoom in, and select the correct panel to move to is a challenge in itself for this version. In some battles, one mishap like that could mean the end. Also, while the improved graphics are a plus, the characters move really fast, as if they’ve had haste casted on them- in their natural state. Another issue is the auto save feature. They did away with it, and that makes saving a priority over anything else after a battle or cutscene, considering you could lose hours of progress because your phone died. Lastly, I definitely wouldn’t recommend you play this on iOS..Version: 2.2.0

Rating will change when universalThis should be universal not separate apps.Version: 2.1.0

NEEDS Controller support and M1 SupportSquare Enix has chosen to go out of its way and explicitly block controller support AND M1 support. Until they fix both of these issues, AVOID this game at all costs..Version: 2.2.0

No Controller Support; Options BugNo controller support is a shame. Would make menu navigation much easier. Also, a bug on iOS 16 that prevents me from entering the options menu, instead it just leaves me with a black screen making it impossible to utilize cloud saving.Version: 2.2.0

Questions don't match answersNo dramas with the game- but the prompts. The game will frequently ask you prompts, and the y/n answers do not tend to match the actions you choose. eg: it asks if you want to continue your paused game, and if you say yes it deletes the paused file and returns to your last 'proper save.'.Version: 1.1.2

Great game marred by crashesOne of my favourite ever FF titles completely spoiled by the intensely high number of crashes on iPhone 5. While the actual port is pretty good with well thought out controls, the sense of immersion is non existant due to crashes every few minutes. If you have an iPhone 5 look elsewhere. Terrible considering the immense resources SquareEnix has and how poor this issue reflects on them. Total ripoff....Version: 1.1.2

Controller supportThe game deserves a 5/5 but please, for the sake of all things good, add controller support so we don’t have to keep using these god awful touch screens.Version: 2.3.0

GreatI really like this game a lot but for this version on ios there some rare ingame items left out like the genji gear. And as a hardcore player would love to see that in the game. But aside from that 5/5 gameplay I'm just being picky.Version: 2.1.0

Still has slow down from the psp version???Tactics is a great game. But the slow down in the spell casting and camera spin is a deal breaker for me. Encounters take at least 20-30% longer than they should. I even avoid using particular skills altogether cause the animation chugs so badly. Please fix!!! This is an A class title. But not even worth $5 in it's current state..Version: 1.0.0

Poor port of a great gameLet me just say that Final Fantasy Tactics is one of my all-time favorite games. The additions to the War of the Lions edition serve to make it a fresh experience for someone who sank hundreds of hours in the PS1 day’s. That said, the stability of the iOS version is a shame. Even on an iPhone 8 with the latest OS update the game freezes constantly sometimes losing significant progress in longer battles. Booting up often locks on a black screen before the opening cinematic resulting in many force quits before even getting in the game. A minor peeve is that the touch controls are a little frustrating in certain aspects. Selecting targets in a cluster can be a trial in patience. Square-Enix charges a premium for their rereleases. A premium price should predicate a premium product. Unfortunately, due to the nostalgia factor, they often get a pass for issues that would sink most other games..Version: 2.0.0

Hold offNot sure why no negative reviews are showing up on here, I guess someone is trying to cover things up. If you look online there are tons of complaints The Graphics are retina The UI is a mess The text is blurry (seriously,... it's unbelievable) If you can get past the fact that this is an unplayable game, it's pretty awesome. ;) Is Square going to fix the graphics and the text and all the weird hiccups (saves don't work properly.. just unbelievable)? Maybe. Until then, they just fleeced a ton of iOS gamers with this thing. Kinda begs the question, how the heck did Apple let it through the approvals process?!.Version: 1.0.0

BadJust horrible, slows down when casting any spell on iPhone 4 completely unnaceptable. Very clunky and hideously slow paced , avoid at all costs can I also mention it's a total rip off ?? 11 pounds for an app that doesn't even work is just disgusting . Avoid avoid avoid!!!!! Nostalgia Is fine but if u haven't played this game before please don't even bother. U will hate it unless u like chess then get this because it takes half hour for one battle, not because of strategy but because of the horrible design flaws.Version: 1.0.0

Great game but poor controlI get that the developer did everything they could to make this touch screen friendly but that it’s the only option makes no sense. Most other Final Fantasy iOS games offer controller support but this one does not. While I appreciate they wanted to make it touch friendly the controls are still clunky and difficult to use on smaller screen devices like smartphones vs the larger tablet screens. I found myself frustrated trying to select the appropriate square or action at all times. Meanwhile half the screen is left blank which could have supported an onscreen controller layout for those who preferred it. If the developer we’re to add controller support to this title it would immediately change my review to 5 stars. Until then I can only give it a bonus star for being a great game that just happens to be too frustrating to play..Version: 2.1.0

Come on Square-Enix...With the community having fixed the slowdown on the PSP version, it's time Square fixed it in the iPhone version. Also the updates have broken the ability to edit saves on the PC with Lioneditor, which is the only way to obtain the exclusive multiplayer items on the iPhone with the multiplayer mode being locked out. I'll be leaving FFT alone until these issues are addressed..Version: 1.1.2

Bugs and bugsThe grind is not all to bad. Though the app still has a habit of shutting itself down mid-battle. Fix that issue and you have 5stars..Version: 2.2.0

Okay, but could be better.Game needs some work. I understand it’s a port, but it doesn’t take advantage of the bigger phones. The giant black boarders on the side are not acceptable. Game needs widescreen to fit bigger phones and certain text and gameplay could be smoothed out. Also PVP should have been a feature. The PSP version had it. For a paid game there should be more work added to this app. Please update game to fix bigger phones correctly. This is not fair to the consumers who paid good money for this game..Version: 2.1.0

40 hours of play disappear in the cloudI put my saves to the cloud, changed my iPhone, and beng! Only new game is available. What a mess this is!.Version: 2.2.0

Constantly FreezingThis game is always freezing up on my iPhone 8 Plus I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and restarting my phone clearing the cache and nothing just freezes after the forth or fifth battle in the story line even non story line battles freeze the game and you can’t force close it because when you reopen it it is stuck at the same frozen screen you have to restart to be able to reopen and guess what it freezes. If this issue is resolved I would be more than happy to give 5 stars I love the final fantasy series and loved this game on PS1 when it came out but sad to see that I may have only wasted my money.Version: 2.0.0

The negative reviews are the honest onesTerrible port of an incredible game. Expensive and yet not optimized for iPhone at all. This game *will* hurt your hands. There’s no controller support and the touch screen controls just aren’t what they need to be. If you’re familiar with FFT you already know there’s a lot of grinding, which was arguably really fun in the original version but on IOS you’ll be re-selecting over and over again in order to move to the desired space or attacking the right enemy. The camera is quite bad and the poor controls exacerbate that issue as well. Potentially more playable on IPad but if you’re planning on using a phone for this I would urge you to find a PSP or use an emulator instead. Don’t give this piece of garbage your money. Screen mirroring might help too but where’s the controller support? Crazy that in 2020 they charge 15 bucks and you can’t even use a controller.Version: 2.2.0

Good game but warning!I love this game probably my favourite FF game in the franchise but I definitely DO NOT suggest buying it for mobile, I bought it and started grinding got my character to lvl 80 and finally unlocked Dark Knight (the hardest job to get in the game) and every fight I started after that crashed the game, put in 40+ hours and now the game is 100% unplayable unless I restart all over, once again great game but the mobile port is complete garbage, better off buying the original or psp version.Version: 2.3.0

Final fantasy tacticsNeed.Version: 2.2.0

Bring back Auto quick savePlease bring back auto quick save. This games brings back so many memories and I love playing it but now that I am playing it again on IOS without quick save and it is hard to ever complete one battle in one sitting then I have to start back at my last save point. I know as devs you could do this. It is not a hard request if the time was put into the game instead of keeping it as vestigial limb of the square enix franchise. It sounds like a little request but when I was a kid playing on ps1 the original fft I had all the time in the world. As an adult I and many others do not have the luxury of free time to put the long battles..Version: 2.2.0

Unplayable..!!!It is a wonderful game, but no use if you can't play it after paying a lot of money. Only upto the second battle and been kicked out from the game more than 10 times... Cannot proceed any further. If it does not run if iPhone 4S, not sure where it would run properly.. PLEASE FIX IMMEDIATELY!!.Version: 1.0.0

Slow down, aiming issues, no multiplayerMy favorite game of all time, was about to replay it on psp when i found out about this port. Its cool to be able to play this on my phone wherever i go but it needs a graphics update badly, and no multiplayer is extremely disapointing..Version: 1.0.0

Finnath Creek FreezesLove the game and have had no issues with it overall. Yes, sometimes the controls can be a bit of a nuisance but overall it works fine if you use deliberate taps. The issue I am having however is that the game continues to crash during the story Finnath Creek battle. I tried over and over using different characters believing it was certain characters that caused the issue but now I’m convinced it doesn’t matter whom you use. The game force closes after an action is taken randomly around the beginning of the battle. This has prevented me from progressing any further in the story. Please fix..Version: 2.1.0

Runs poorly on 3GSAs a long time fan off ff tactics I was pretty happy to see it coming to the iPhone. Unfortunately it runs like garbage on 2 different iPhone 3GS's that I've tried, it's much slower than any psp person, to the point where it's not enjoyable to play. For the 16$ cost and them claiming it's playable on a 3GS, it should atleast run well..Version: 1.0.0

Sound does not workBought it and can’t play With its amazing soundtrack 😡.Version: 2.2.0

IPhone4 with iOS5As a game, this can't be faulted; it's still as absorbing as the first time I played it on the PSOne. However, after a solids days's play on my iPhone 4 with iOS5 there are some glaring technical issues that need to be address. Firstly this game draws drains the battery more than most I've played, although FFT manages to do it while running in the background. I'm currently locked out of my game because I had to power the phone off during a fight and now the title screen doesn't respond. As a game it gets a 5. For having huge techincal holes and an astronomical pricetag to match it gets a 1. Please do better, this is disappointing..Version: 1.0.0

Constantly crashingGame is constantly crashing in chapter two which has destroyed any chance of progression. Continuing the story, the game crashes. Trying to lvl up in battles, the game crashes. Really disappointing.Version: 2.1.0

I paid, but cannot workFlash quit!.Version: 2.0.0

Still fun but complaints are warrantedI had a long flight and decided to buy this game ahead of time to have something to play. I saw the reviews about the clunky controls/awkward camera views and decided to ignore them. While overall the game is a lot of fun I feel like it is riding on it being a classic more than anything else. The game is not optimized for mobile app play (at least on a phone). I found myself mis-clicking a lot when trying to place units during their movement phase. The camera view and camera view control is also inconvenient. There are two different “option icons” during battles that you can click to change the camera orientation and the camera angle. This made navigating the battlefield cumbersome and time consuming. The ui interface requires a lot of steps to get to whatever your desired screen is (character info/shops/inventory/etc). I have never had issues fat-fingering things before but in this game it is easy to do so. Again, it does not feel like it was meant to be a mobile game. Overall the nostalgia and gameplay is still fun. However, it feels like the devs pushed out the bare minimum requirements to have it working on an app and called it a day..Version: 2.3.0

Save ur cash!I was excited as ever when I saw this one. And it started out great, until the battles started. That's when it just fell apart. The graphics are fuzzed the swing control stops at the most odd positions. Look I'm not going to list everything. But if u want a serious review not some 7 yr old saying " I loved this on ps1" when WE all did! Then take it from me and the other realists. Hold off till issues are fixed and spend the money when u can play the game. Remember battles are 99% of this game..Version: 1.0.0

Not worth a penny on iPhone SE 2020Seems that game really reflects original series of FF tactics released on PS but it has too much flaws and on top of it has no working sound on new iPhone SE 2020. I am trying to get refund..Version: 2.2.0

Best game ever tripped up by small flaws.Brilliant game hamstrung by the lack of ability to be able to reset a battle. The second battle is one of the hardest things you'll play in a game, and rather than being able to reset, you have to quit the app to try again. Stupid..Version: 1.2.0

BrokenA real shame but this is a broken game, if looking for a bit of tactical ff nostalgia then you are better looking elsewhere. The game regularly crashes on both my iPhone 5 and my iPad 2, both using the latest firmware. Truly a shame, knowing what a great game this is. Would definitely have a different opinion of the game if it didn't have any these issues. Also - why is there two different versions of the game for iPhone and iPad, it seems square Enix is insulting our intelligence and our pockets with this title..Version: 1.1.2

Not made for iPhoneIt's a normal ff tactics game, however, really poorly converted to iPhone. Auto save feature is horrendous! It auto saved 1 move before a game over and my hard save was hours before. The touch is used from normal buttons on psp game. Therefore they are a little small and difficult to press. This also includes selecting the tiles when moving or attacking. This therefore is just a converted psp game for more money. Very little ui built to make gameplay on handheld that enjoyable. Other than that, it is ok..Version: 1.2.0

Great game, insulting money grab for iPad versionFFT is an all time favourite and I was happy to purchase it for the iPhone originally. To expect an additional payment for the iPad version is BS. Will update this rating to the 4 or 5 stars it deserves if this is ever fixed..Version: 1.1.1

Slightly disappointingEverything works fine, but for the price I was expecting a very high-quality graphics update, but it turns out that this doesnt even support retina display. I also expected it to perform better, but it'll drop to below 20fps during spells (even on i4 with no other apps running). If the iPad version supposedly will have improved graphics over this one, it should be also for retina display..Version: 1.0.0

Great game just needs a few patchesGame is almost a direct port from the psp. Slow down still occurs on an iphone4. Text appears blurry and there are small issues with the touch controls. With a few updates this port could serve the original justice..Version: 1.0.0

HorribleCan’t believe I wasted 20 dollars on this. They have the game speed set so fast you can barely keep an eye on what’s happening. Complete garbage. Will never buy another square Enix rpg again from the App Store.Version: 2.0.0

Ridiculously DifficultIf it wasn't obscenely, absurdly difficult it would be worth it. Great story? I guess. The difficulty level is completely ridiculous. You will die 7-10 times consecutively in a battle with no way out. Had I not just saved constantly and reset I would have quit 500 times. I've been gaming for like 19 years, played WoW and now FF14 and this is by far the most disproportionately difficult game to date. Dying nonstop and getting game over is not worth much mention. I do like the difficulty level in some ways, but I cannot imagine any kid not just chucking their game system or phone out the window. It's actually disgusting..Version: 2.2.0

Remember it being betterIt’s quaint, and fun to relive some nostalgia, but this game is clunky as it gets. The fights are so monotonous it’s hard to feel a sense of excitement for anything. It feels like they added certain mechanics just so the fights take longer. The class is as good as final fantasy ever is, and is probably the only redeeming quality. In short, it takes too long to do anything in a fight for a tactics game taking so little skill. I feel like you could let the AI handle everything because it’s so simple..Version: 2.1.0

Awful gameI never review games, but felt compelled to this time to avoid anyone else making a costly mistake. Being a fan of Final Fantasy series and having played Vandal Hearts on the original PS (which has similar but much MUCH BETTER game play and advancement than this game) i thought i would give it a try. After 20 hours i have to say it is dull, and has too many directions for customisation which seem to make negligible difference between characters in the end anyways. Utter rubbish, if i knew how it played in the first place i would not of even paid £0.99 for it. AVOID!.Version: 1.1.2

Great reboot but not good enoughI got a “Game Over” on my first battle. The gameplay is flawless but the game itself shouldn’t be that difficult starting out. I understand the game but didn’t like the dying right away part. They don’t give the main character enough to defend himself from enemies. I’d rather prefer to play the original version on PlayStation sometime. The $6.99 they sell this game for didn’t seem worth it for this waste of time..Version: 2.2.0

Literally my favourite game, no controller supportCan’t believe you don’t allow controller support. Are final fantasy titles allergic to it?.Version: 2.2.0

Good Successor, Bad GameThis game is absolutely mental. This game shares the exact same graphics for Tactics Advanced (Game Boy Advance), besides the backgrounds which is nice, even the main character looks quite similar. This time around, there is a much more heavy story while clinging to medieval language, which wasnt really as tryhard in the original (can be difficult to read now, honestly Square Enix’s first mistake), thats about everything good about this game. This game does not follow the original gameplay style as Tactics Advanced, this is entirely focused on the story, which is fine in theory, except anyone who’s played Tactics Advanced knows that this game required running around and grinding to get your characters strong enough to actually do the story, yet in this game, you’re stuck to a linear track so if you aren't flawless in your character builds, you wont be able to progress in this game. Period. (This was SquareEnix’s second mistake) The game doesn't tell you what all the character skills even do; which is fine because neither did the original, however the original was on Game Boy, so im pretty sure in this era, we can afford to have a detailed, in-game skill book, so you’ll need a wiki open 100% of the time, and the friendly AI in game is set to such a nooby level that they wont help nearly as much they could and will likely watch you die while taking the extra party slots that you require all too much to be effective in the early game. I’ve had 20 Game Overs by the 4th Level, and have wasted over 10 hours of my life. Please Note: unsure if the story-linear track ends, haven't been able to make it far enough to find out..Version: 2.0.0

No controller support :(The lack of controller support really hurts the playability of this game. Many of us don’t like to use touch when playing on such a small screen. We want to see the entire game without blocking parts of it with our hands or fingers. Please add controller support!.Version: 2.2.0
